Disney4me
There’s something so special about the magnificent gingerbread houses at Disney World during the holidays! 2018 Contemporary Resort Gingerbread House Is it that they’re positively MASSIVE? Or maybe the level of detail that the artists put into these cookie-based creations? Whatever the reason, we keep coming back year after year to see the awesome gingerbread artwork to be found around Disney World. If you’re like us, you won’t want to miss out on any of the displays! We’ve compiled a helpful list to make sure that you can check off seeing all the gingerbread creations around Disney World this year! Though many of the displays haven’t gone up yet, here’s what you can expect to see based on last year’s festivities. Start planning your Gingerbread crawl now!! Contemporary Resort There is one gingerbread house we’ve already seen coming up this year in Disney World — and really it’s more of a gingerbread castle! That’s right, we’ve already seen some progress on the much-loved Contemporary resort display of Cinderella Castle in gingerbread form. Contemporary Resort Gingerbread House This display is always a favorite and is designed as a tribute to Mary Blair, a formative Imagineer in the designing of “it’s a small world!” as well the artist behind the HUGE Grand Canyon Concourse Mural in the main lobby of the Contemporary! We can likely expect to see some familiar faces on the finished product as last year’s rendition featured cute versions of Cinderella, Prince Charming, and the Fairy Godmother. 2018 Contemporary Resort Gingerbread House This display can be found on the 4th floor of the Contemporary Resort and is a must-see for those looking for stunning gingerbread houses this holiday season! 2018 Contemporary Resort Gingerbread House This spot has previously been open daily from 10AM til 10PM and features a Gingerbread Snack Stand (if all that gingerbread has left you craving some sweets!). You can pick up various cookies and sweets in this spot daily! Check out last year’s Contemporary gingerbread display here! Grand Floridian Resort Now, we haven’t seen any progress on gingerbread displays outside of the Contemporary yet, but there are a couple of spots that we can safely assume from previous years are a’comin! One of the longest-standing of these is the MASSIVE Grand Floridian Gingerbread House which has been crafted in the Grand Floridian’s lobby for 20 years! Check out last year’s version here! 2018 Grand Floridian Gingerbread House This display is 14 feet tall and made with a RIDICULOUS amount of ingredients. Think 1,050 lbs of honey, 800 lbs of flour, 600 lbs of chocolate, 600 lbs of powdered sugar, 140 pints of egg whites, and 35 lbs of spices. Plus, it takes an entire team of pastry chefs to construct. Sheesh! It’s no wonder this display is a favorite, it sure is big enough to hold some serious holiday cheer! 2018 Grand Floridian Gingerbread House We’ll keep an eye out for construction to begin on this iconic gingerbread house likely in the next few days. It’s definitely worth a Monorail ride to see! 2018 Grand Floridian Gingerbread House The house itself is actually its own gingerbread shop! Guests can purchase a variety of cookies and sweets including one of our favorites — gingerbread roof shingles! This shop is open typically 10AM til 10PM and during busy times of day when families are coming or going, the line can get pretty long! It’s well worth a trip to see though. The roof even puffs out smoke! Christmas cuteness overload!! See last year’s Grand Floridian gingerbread house here! BoardWalk Inn A more recent addition to the line-up of famous Disney gingerbread is the display at the BoardWalk Inn. This display first popped up in 2017 and depicts a cute gingerbread version of the shops along the BoardWalk. In 2018 it had loads of teeny tiny amazing additions and new details! We’re assuming this one will return for 2019, and we’re hoping it might have some cool new surprises in store again! 2018 BoardWalk Gingerbread Display Pastry chefs at the BoardWalk develop this display each year with the BoardWalk Bakery as the main piece (they WOULD focus on the bakery! Those bakers gotta represent!). 2018 BoardWalk Gingerbread Display This display is sure to delight when it appears in the BoardWalk lobby this year so be sure to make time to swing by and see it! Take a look at the amazing details in last year’s BoardWalk Inn gingerbread display! The Beach Club For a more whimsical approach to holiday displays, follow the smell of gingerbread to Disney’s Beach Club where we’re expecting to see the Beach Club Gingerbread Carousel pop up in the next few weeks! The Carousel is a much-loved gingerbread display and we look forward to it each year! Plus, it actually spins! 2018 Beach Club Gingerbread Carousel Every year, the theme changes on the Carousel. Last year it was dedicated to Donald and Daisy so we can’t wait to see what the theme is this year! Something fun to keep an eye out for: the names of the chocolate horses change every year too! 2018 Beach Club Gingerbread Carousel This is typically another huge one, as in 2,029 pieces of gingerbread huge! 2018 Beach Club Gingerbread Carousel The detail is off the charts and we’ve spent hours looking at all the hard work put into it in the past! We can’t wait to see this display pop up at the Beach Club. Check out last year’s Beach Club gingerbread carousel! Amorette’s Patisserie You’ll likely be able to find some gingerbread outside of the resorts too! Last year, we spotted a super cute gingerbread display at Amorette’s Patisserie in Disney Springs to go along with all the fun holiday treats there. 2018 Amorette’s Patisserie Gingerbread Display Last year’s display featured a gingerbread Amorette’s and tons of pretty chocolate Christmas trees. This display tends to change up from year to year. So, who’s to say if the display will be the same this year? We’ll have to wait and see to find out! 2018 Amorette’s Patisserie Gingerbread Display The master pastry chefs and decorators over at Amorette’s know a thing or two about how to make beautiful works of art out of baked goods, so naturally they knock it out of the park each year! Take a peek at last year’s gingerbread creation at Amorette’s here! And More! We’ve also previously spotted a gingerbread version of the capital building in the American Adventure pavilion in Epcot. It’s likely this patriotic holiday delight will return as well. Check out that candy cane roof! Washington, D.C. Gingerbread Display And, there will possibly be even more gingerbread delights to find in Disney World this season! Many of the resorts that don’t have formal displays still often do a showcase of Cast Member created gingerbread houses that can be positively charming (and pretty impressive!). Don’t miss out on any of the wonderful Disney gingerbread houses this holiday season! We’ll keep you updated as sweet structures rise around property! In the meantime, you can check out our tour of the gingerbread creations around Disney World last year, and happy (early) holidays! Which Disney gingerbread display is your favorite?
