If you missed out on this awesome event, don’t worry! Circle of Flavors: Harambe at Night will be returning this winter!

We had a great time at this event during its first run (check out our FULL REVIEW here) so its return to Animal Kingdom is making us pretty excited. Whether you didn’t get a chance to enjoy Circle of Flavors or if you did and want to do it again, you can experience the spectacular flavors, music, and celebration once more!

Circle of Flavors: Harambe at Night is a 3-hour family-friendly progressive dining experience that will return on select Wednesday nights from December 4 to April 15, 2020.

During this event, you’ll have the opportunity to journey to several different areas of the park over the course of your evening. Starting off at Harambe Station, you’ll then take the train to Rafiki’s Planet Watch before returning to Harambe Market for the finale of the evening.

Not only is this event a culinary experience with crafted dishes and beverages in each location, but it was also created to celebrate The Lion King and to encourage conservation with a focus on “The Big Five” African animals. So, you’re sure to see some familiar faces like Timon and Rafiki, and you’ll learn about the Cape Buffalo, the Rhinoceros, the African Elephant, the Leopard, and (of course) the African Lion.

We thought this event was a roaring good time! The welcome reception features an array of fun bites like meat pies, Durban chips and dip, and a variety of meats and cheeses. Adult diners can also sip on the Harambellini, a cocktail of sparkling South African wine and a juice blend of passion fruit, orange, and guava (this blend is sometimes referred to as POG juice and it is a favorite!). There are options for those kiddos here too with cheese, fruit, and chocolate caramel-dipped apples called Tofaa.

After your Welcome Reception and train ride, you’ll have the option to experience the Kilimanjaro Safaris Virtual Reality experience at Rafiki’s Planet Watch. This experience is a brief trip into the lion exhibit where it was filmed. So, you’ll feel like you’re face to face with the African lions of Pride Rock. Timon and Rafiki will also be stationed here for some WILD and exclusive character interactions.

Remember not to fill up too much at each stop (Circle of Flavors is all you care to enjoy!) because there’s more fun eats throughout the evening. At Rafiki’s Planet Watch, you can dig in to spiced plantains, South African oat and coconut bars, and Sundowner Safari mix. Kids can chow down on fruit and trail mix bites. As for fun sips, there are two cocktail options with the beer-based Chief’s Shandy and the tequila-based Wanjohi’s Dawa.

Finally, you’ll take the train back to Harambe Market for the grand finale. Dinner is served while you listen to live music and enjoy dance and storytelling performances. The marketplace is set up with a station dedicated to each of the Big Five animals and each station has dishes inspired by its member of the big five!

The options here were astounding for the first run of this event (see the full list of offerings here!) and though we wouldn’t be surprised if the menu saw some changes in the new season, we’re hopeful that the eats will still be delicious.

At each station, you’ll also learn more about the Big Five and little ones can even choose their favorite animal charm and make their own bracelet or necklace. Cute!

In the words of Mufasa, “Everything exists together in a delicate balance, and you need to understand that balance and respect all the creatures.” This event celebrates that balance and could certainly help with your understanding!
