Disney4me
Hello, there friends! It’s officially spooky season in Disneyland Resort, as the NEW (and already sold out!) Oogie Boogie Bash — A Disney Halloween Party has kicked off in Disney California Adventure. Oogie Boogie Bash Sign We’ve already told you all about the new Treat Trails — which you can learn about here! Now we want to chat about all the new entertainment offerings we experienced at the party, from parades to shows and everything in between. There’s a lot to unpack, so let’s dive in! Shows and Events Villainous! Villainous!, the new “World of Color” show located in the Paradise Bay area of DCA, tells the tale of Shelley Marie, a young girl on an unforgettable journey. The show is filled with fountains, lights, lasers, projections, and special effects. The show describes that deep down, there may be a little villain in all of us! Shelly Marie — and Oogie Boogie! During the show, the Pixar Pal-A-Round lit up in different colors, so we could spot Mickey’s face throughout the nighttime spectacular! Villainous! Since the emphasis of the show is, of course, Disney villains, we weren’t surprised to spot Dr. Facilier… Dr. Facilier in Villainous! …and The Evil Queen’s Magic Mirror! Magic Mirror in Villainous! And we were jazzed to see the man of the hour himself — Oogie Boogie. Oogie Boogie in Villainous! Honestly, we’re interested to find out what you guys think of this new show! For us, it was…interesting. The show itself starts off in a very lighthearted and fun way, but gets weirder and weirder as the story progresses! Villainous! The lighting and special effects were very impressive, though, so we still recommend checking out Villainous! It was catchy and featured lots of fire and water as well. If you are able to do so, we recommend catching the second show at 10:45 as the 9:00 show got very crowded. Villainous! Villains Grove During Oogie Boogie Bash, the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail transforms into Villains Grove. Here, guests enter the delightfully spooky world of Disney villains. Villains Grove Sign You do NOT want to miss Villains Grove! It’s a maze with a variety of projections and themes. Thankfully, they don’t rush you through most of it, so be sure to take your time. Honestly, we would’ve loved to go through it again! Villains Grove While we were walking through Villains Grove, we felt like we were in Pandora at night. And that is not a bad thing! Villains Grove Several characters are spread throughout Villains Grove, including the Cheshire Cat… Cheshire Cat …and the Queen of Hearts! Queen of Hearts While it’s a bit spooky, Villains Grove is still great for the whole family and not to be missed! Villains Grove The DescenDANCE Party The DescenDANCEParty — which is also part of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in Walt Disney World —features the greatest dance crew from the Isle of the Lost. DescenDANCE Party Showtimes The show begins with a spell, which summons the dance crew from the Isle of the Lost! These dancers lead everyone in moves set to songs from the Descendants films. After the dance crew is summoned back, the Backlot DJ keeps the party going with fun upbeat music! DescenDANCE Party We honestly felt a bit out of place during this party, but if your kiddos enjoy the popular Disney Channel movies, they’re sure to enjoy this high-energy party! DescenDANCE Party Frightfully Fun Parade The fan-favorite “Frightfully Fun Parade” from Disneyland has taken over Disney California Adventure for the first time! Frightfully Fun Parade During Oogie Boogie Bash, we spotted none other than Mickey and Minnie dressed in their Halloween Time finery. Aren’t they the cutest?? It’s Mickey and Minnie! We were totally spooked by Ursula, who made a wonderfully menacing part of the parade. Ursula We’re always glad to see the Headless Horseman in the Frightfully Fun Parade! As far as we’re concerned, no one makes an entrance quite like him. Headless Horseman Our favorite residents of Halloween Town took part in the parade as well, including the Mayor of Halloween Town… The Mayor of Halloween Town …and Sally and Jack Skellington, of course! Jack Skellington and Sally We couldn’t possibly forget the Haunted Mansion float, which features none other than the Hatbox Ghost and Gus! The Haunted Mansion Float Hades fans, you’re in luck! He is front-and-center during the Frightfully Fun Parade. Hades Also featured prominently is The Evil Queen herself, who works steadily over her bubbling cauldron. Hopefully, she’s not trying to poison us! The Evil Queen and her Cauldron A new addition to the parade is the Cheshire Cat! We’re so glad he and his mischievous smile are part of Oogie Boogie Bash. Cheshire Cat We love this parade and we’re so glad it’s part of the Oogie Boogie Bash festivities. You can catch the parade at 8:10 PM, and you can spot the Headless Horseman before the parade begins at 8:00! Mickey’s Trick and Treat Show Mickey’s Trick and Treat Show has also made its way to DCA for the first time! The show features Mickey, dancers, Halloween stories, and candy, of course! You’ll find this show at the Disney Theatre in Hollywood Land. Mickey’s Trick & Treat Party Showtimes This was a really cute show and had us dancing while we watched it! It’s only 15 minutes long and fun for all ages. PLUS, we got even MORE candy at the end of the show. Mickey’s Trick & Treat Show During the show, we spotted Minnie, Mickey, Donald, AND Goofy! Mickey’s Trick & Treat Show You can catch this show several times throughout the evening and we’d recommend taking a bit of time to see it! Mickey’s Trick & Treat Show Carthay Circle Halloween Magic We just so happened to spot some intriguing new effects on the outside of Carthay Circle. And they were so cool, people! Carthay Circle at Oogie Boogie Bash We noticed swarming bats, green lighting, and even more transformative displays! Carthay Circle at Oogie Boogie Bash Can you spot the bolts of lightning on the building? Just so cool. Carthay Circle at Oogie Boogie Bash Character Encounters We couldn’t possibly forget about the awesome character meet-and-greets you’ll find at Oogie Boogie Bash! We found a variety of beloved villains and Disney characters around the park, including Claude Frollo… Claude Frollo …Maleficent… Maleficent …and Gong Li! Gong Li If you grew up watching the Disney Channel in the early 2000s, you NEED to take the time to meet Ron Stoppable and Kim Possible at Oogie Boogie Bash! Ron Stoppable and Kim Possible We couldn’t help but snap a few photos when we saw Donald Duck… Donald! …and Goofy! Goofy The lines appeared to be LONG for the special characters during Oogie Boogie Bash. We were lucky to walk by while the lines were fairly short so we were able to snap a few photos, but if you want to meet a certain character, be prepared to line up early and/or wait a while! Overall Thoughts WOW, there’s a lot to experience at Oogie Boogie Bash! If you were able to snag a ticket to this year’s event, your in for a wonderful time! There were tons to do and see, but just know there is no way to get everything squeezed in. We felt like we were running around the entire night. Our favorite part was the Villains Grove section by far! Overall, we loved the Oogie Boogie Bash and its entertainment offerings, but we would’ve just enjoyed a couple more hours.
