We celebrated the grand opening of Gran Destino Tower at Walt Disney World’s Coronado Springs Resort last week, and in the process we brought you a photo tour of the Tower’s standard hotel rooms and lobby, a first look at the Tower’s two Lounges — Barcelona Lounge and Dahlia Lounge — and shared our very first review of the Tower’s rooftop table service restaurant, Toledo — Tapas, Steak, & Seafood.

But the tour of Gran Destino Tower isn’t over! Here we’re taking a photo tour of a Deluxe Suite with Club Access and the Chronos Club, a lounge space dedicated to guests staying in Club Access rooms (suites and standard — more on this below!).

The Deluxe Suite we toured sleeps up to four adults with a combination of one king size bed and one queen-size pull-out sofa. The style of the Suite is reserved by Disney standards but stylish with pops of red and orange and a Destino mash-up of materials.

The living space features that aforementioned couch — smart in taupe — two end tables with lamps, a metal and stone coffee table, and two armchairs.  A foursome of mirrors reflect light in the space, and taupe wallpaper features a few Hidden Mickeys. (See if you can spot one below!)

To the right upon entering the living space is a set-up with amenities such as a Keurig coffee maker with pods and mugs, an ice bucket with glasses, and, below the counter, a mini-fridge. There are two shelves for storage above this counter space. This abuts a large armoire for storage.

Amenities Set-Up

Across from the couch is a console table and a wall-mounted, personalized smart TV. This TV is enabled with new-to-Disney technology that allows guests to connect their smart devices to the TV and to access Disney movies, shows, and even bedtime stories on-demand.

You can see the entrance to the bedroom to the left of the console.

Before we tour the bedroom, however, notice that there’s a table and a pair of chairs set up in front of the large picture window.

Seating Area

The bedroom in the Deluxe Suite is accessed through a sliding barn door. A king bed dominates the room and is kept company by two side tables.

Lamps in Gran Destino Tower feature a bell design pulled from the Tower’s inspiration, a Salvador Dali/Walt Disney project called Destino that prominently featured a bell with the figure of a woman artistically incorporated into it. These lamps also have two plugs and two USB ports for nighttime charging.

Bedding in the Deluxe Suite is simple: just a white duvet cover with a subtle white design and several pillows. But the headboards feature carved wood and a padded burnt orange piece for comfort.

A closet in the bedroom contains robes, extra bedding, and an iron and ironing board.

The orientation of the bed maximizes the view (don’t worry — there are curtains out of view to the left). Another smart TV hangs on the wall just outside the bathroom, quite a bit off-center from the bed. Seems Disney is prioritizing the view for you!

The bathroom connected to the bedroom includes double sinks, under-sink storage, and H20 brand products.

The water closet can be concealed by a pocket door, and the glass-walled shower is to the right when you enter.

One downfall of the Deluxe Suite: they provide a scale. Even if you’re staying in the Tower for work, those Disney calories don’t count, and this just seems like a cruel trick. 😉

Scale

There’s a second bathroom in the Deluxe Suite. It’s to the immediate right when you enter the suite. It’s a two-piece bathroom, so you’ve got a toilet and a sink.

This is nicely appointed (we love the tile!) and helpful if you’ve got a suite full of folks trying to get ready every day.

Overall, the Deluxe Suite is a comfortable, well-designed space that would work for business or leisure travelers. But this is Club Access, which means you’re not just getting a place to lay your head; you’re getting the Chronos Club.

Chronos Club Photo Tour

Chronos Club

The Chronos Club is Gran Destino Tower’s club access lounge. Unlike Deluxe Resorts with Club Level lounges, Chronos has dropped the “level.” That’s because at Gran Destino, Club Access rooms are located throughout the Tower, not concentrated on one floor.

Chronos-Club-Gran-Destino-Tower-030-700x

Chronos Club

The Chronos Club is inspired, like many things in Gran Destino Tower, by the short film Destino that was the product of a collaboration between Walt Disney and Salvador Dali. In the film (as in the myth), Chronos personifies time, and he falls in love with a mortal named Dahlia. (You can see Dahlia’s imprint all over Dahlia Lounge on the Tower’s 15th floor.)

Chronos-Club-Gran-Destino-Tower-027-495x

Chronos Club

The Chronos Club is a stylish spot that incorporates many of the same touches seen elsewhere in the Tower. These large, sparkly pendants bring light and glamour to the space.

Metal lanterns, clay vases, and metal and glass tables add some edge, while padded seating in shades of blue and brown add some softness.

Chronos-Club-Gran-Destino-Tower-022-700x

And there are several types of seating available in Chonos Club. Large sofas, like these curved ones, surround coffee tables. On this table, a box contains a deck of playing cards.

Chronos Club

No matter where you kick up your heels and kill some time in Chronos Club, you’ll be treated to views of Walt Disney World. Below, Disney’s Hollywood Studios is just out of view to the right.

If you’re partaking in the food and drinks provided in Chronos Club, there are proper tables and chairs, too.

Chronos-Club-Gran-Destino-Tower-020-700x

This looks like an awesome place to gather, share stories, and relax. Cast members told us the intention was to create the feel of a living room, and it really does feel that comfortable.

Other notable design features include an energetic dropped ceiling that seems, almost, to mimic a deconstructed clock with spokes that resemble the hands. While this feature is stationary, the way it’s designed seems to give it movement.

Chronos-Club-Gran-Destino-Tower-021-700x

Metal accents that vaguely resemble the dandelions celebrated in Destino float along one wall — along with a giant hidden Mickey!

Chronos-Club-Gran-Destino-Tower-026-700x

Chronos Club

And like all of the other spaces we’ve covered at Gran Destino Tower, Chronos Club deftly mixes materials and patterns in ways that most of us probably wouldn’t consider. But they work!

Chronos-Club-Gran-Destino-Tower-029-700x

Chronos Club

In addition to the playing cards we mentioned above, Chronos Club also provides this bank of magazines and newspapers (like real paper newspapers that’ll leave black smudges on your fingertips) and, on another table, a wood and metal tic-tac-toe board. Clearly Chronos knows how to spend some time.

Chronos-Club-Gran-Destino-Tower-016-700x

Here at DFB, we like to spend our time eating, so let’s see how Club Access patrons will fill their bellies and whet their whistles. There are several stations in the Club, all set in the back left corner of the space.

Bottled and canned non-alcoholic beverages are available in a refrigerator, and a machine for dispensing espresso and hot water is available, too.

Standard coffee options are also on hand (decaf and regular), as are ice-cold water and packets for tea.

The tea of choice here is Twinings, and there’s a decent variety.

Most importantly, there are Mickey-shaped sugar cubes. Fabulous!

Cast members told us that alcoholic beverages will be available for patrons, too, including wine and beer. Cocktails are also expected, but they weren’t sure which ones they would be.

Food options run the gamut from sweet and indulgent to healthy and practical. Some items are packaged to take along with you, while others are more likely to be enjoyed in Chronos Club or taken to the guest’s room.

Chronos-Club-Gran-Destino-Tower-002-700x

Chronos Club

Food items will be replenished and changed out depending on the time of day, as is the case in other Club Level lounges. Breakfast will be grab-and-go with pastries, primarily. Lunch and dinner hours will see light bites.

Fresh food items include Yogurt-Cucumber Dip and Curry Lentil Hummus with veggies.

These crostini with SunButter, banana slices, honey, and sunflower seeds are a fun snack for guests of all ages.

Fresh fruit is perfect to snag on your way out the door in the morning.

Fun, snackable options include trail mix and Goldfish (yes, Goldfish crackers at Walt Disney World! You can also find them atop the Mac and Cheese at Garden Grill, but now we’re just getting weird about how much we know about Goldfish.).

House Potato Chips are an irresistible option. Quick question: is it frowned up to take the whole bowl back to your table? What would Chronos do…?

Chronos-Club-Gran-Destino-Tower-004-700x

Chronos  knows time is fleeting, so he says “eat more cookies.” (We made that up, but it’s still solid advice.)

Packaged snacks included three varieties of Kind Bars, ready for your Park bag or a stroll to the convention center downstairs.

And when you must have candy, Chronos delivers. Hard candies, Ghirardelli Chocolate Squares, and caramels are ripe for the picking.

Chronos-Club-Gran-Destino-Tower-010-700x

As we mentioned, food items will change out throughout the day and from day-to-day, so don’t be surprised to find different offerings during your stay. But a Club Access experience is all about that comfort — snacks when you need ’em, a relaxing spot to kick back, and — in this case — terrific views to drink in any time of day.

Gran Destino Tower has four categories of Club Access rooms: Standard View – Club Access, Deluxe Suite – Club Access, One Bedroom Suite – Club Access, and Presidential Suite – Club Access. As of press time, prices range from a starting price of $330 for the Standard to $1382 for the Presidential Suite. To give you a little perspective, a Standard View room in the Tower without Club Access is around $234 depending on the date and other mystery Disney considerations.

So if you think Club Access might be for you, consider what you get for your investment. And as Chronos would likely tell you (or not, we don’t know him), time is short, get a second helping of chips. 😉
