Disney4me
From a trip around Manhattan on THE RIDE (a fun multi-sensory experience unlike any other), to going backstage at “Good Morning America,” tasting authentic New York pizza inside a breathtaking former church and more, the Adventures by Disney New York City Long Weekend vacation is full of fun surprises. I recently experienced this trip and it’s fair to say that I was completely “wowed” by all it had to offer. As you know, there’s no business like show business. And on this vacation our group got to learn an actual Broadway dance number during a special workshop. That’s me in the graceful ballet pose above (okay, really it’s an image from THE RIDE, but trust me when I tell you that it’s much better than the actual images of me dancing). Admittedly my two left feet were not initially excited to be put to the test during the dancing portion of the trip, but it turned out to be a remarkably fun and unforgettable experience. Am I now ready to audition for my big break on Broadway? Not quite, but I do have a very deep appreciation for just how difficult those actors are working each day.And I was impressed at how easy the cast of “Aladdin” made those same dance moves look when our Adventures by Disney group was treated to primo seats to a performance of the show.To add to the long list of special access provided on this Adventures by Disney getaway, our group also enjoyed a private tour of the New Amsterdam Theater. Here I fulfilled my inner child’s ultimate dream: I got to play dress-up with actual Broadway costumes! I tried on Nala’s headdress from “The Lion King,” climbed into Ariel’s clamshell from “The Little Mermaid” and looked practically perfect in every way in Mary Poppin’s long red coat. Pinch me now, I must be dreaming! From uncovering hidden gems I hadn’t previously discovered in “the city that never sleeps,” to offering unique and often exclusive behind-the-scenes experiences, this Adventures by Disney trip was truly bursting with unbelievable “wow” moments at every turn. And much like Aladdin, I felt like a magic genie granted me a very real wish by having a chance to experience it all.Go Behind the Scenes on Broadway with Adventures by Disney by Amanda Adler: Originally posted on the Disney Parks BlogView the full article
