CONFIRMED: Disney Just Announced the Enchanted Tiki Room Attraction Is FINALLY Reopening After a Lengthy Closure

Heads up, Disney fans — we FINALLY have a reopening date for a popular Adventureland attraction!

Disneyland has seen numerous changes lately, with returning entertainment and a brand-new special anniversary to celebrate. However, if you’ve felt like something has been missing (as in one of Disney’s staple attractions), you won’t have to wait much longer for it to return.

 

There are very few things as disappointing as walking up to one of your favorite rides or attractions only to find it closed. From time to time, Disneyland needs to temporarily close an attraction for routine maintenance and take time to fix any necessary repairs. While that’s a bummer if it’s happening during your Disneyland trip, those routine closures are a necessary evil to keep things in good working order. But now, there’s one classic attraction that’s FINALLY removing its closed status.

If you’ve been missing out on seeing the Enchanted Tiki Room birds and the rest of the glee club at Disneyland while it’s been temporarily closed, well…you’re in luck. Disney quietly updated its website to reveal a reopening date for the iconic attraction, and it’s not too far in the future!

You’ll be able to settle in and sing along with the birdies once again starting on July 3rd. During this relaxing attraction, you’ll be seated for a show featuring tropical birds, tiki gods, and colorful flowers that come to life in a swinging South Seas musical celebration.

It’s hard to believe, but the Audio-Animatronics technology that powers the show was introduced to the world when Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room debuted in 1963 at Disneyland. This groundbreaking technology paved the way for Disney animators to synchronize movement, audio and visual effects, which led to other classic attractions like “it’s a small world”, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Haunted Mansion we now know and cherish today.

But don’t expect everything in this show to look exactly as it did on its opening day. The Enchanted Tiki Room’s current show has been enhanced with a state-of-the-art show-control system, remastered audio, and energy-efficient lighting — while maintaining all the charm and wit of the original.
