It’s almost summertime, and that means the weather is getting warm and the snacks are getting COLD!

Golden Horseshoe in Disneyland

Yep, it’s the time of the year when we all start to crave sweet treats and anything with ice in it, and it’s only going to get worse as the summer progresses. So if you’re heading to Disneyland soon and an ice cream sampler sounds like a delicious idea…you’re going to want to stick around for this review!

We recently made a trip to Golden Horseshoe in Disneyland Park to try out the new Neapolitan Ice Cream Floats Sampler for $8.99.

Here it is!

This trio of floats comes with vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate-themed floats, with ingredients as follows:

  • Coca-Cola Cherry with Vanilla Ice Cream, Whipped Cream, and a Maraschino Cherry
  • Sprite with Strawberry Syrup, Strawberry Ice Cream, Whipped Cream, and Rainbow Sprinkles
  • Barq’s Root Beer with Chocolate Ice Cream, Whipped Cream, and Chocolate Sprinkles

The floats are here!

And the first thing we noticed about these floats? They fall apart FAST. Pretty much as soon as we got them, the sodas started bubbling, and they began to overflow all over the place. So if you order a batch, make sure to have your straws at the ready to sip them down ASAP.

Poor buddies

These are a great concept, and they were definitely a head-turner when we were parading them around to get pictures and videos, but they were just messy in execution. As far as flavors go, the strawberry one was our favorite! The Sprite and strawberry ice cream combo is refreshing and tasty, and the strawberry syrup really elevates the flavor overall. We would totally order that one in a full size as its own treat.

Strawberry wins fo sho.

The next best, in our opinion, was the Coca-Cola with vanilla. This is your classic soda float, and it tastes pretty traditional, but with that added cherry element. If you’re not a Cherry Coke fan, you may want to stay away, but other than that, it’s simple and basic.

Coca-Cola takes second

But the one we probably won’t recommend? The chocolate! The combination of root beer and chocolate ice cream was a strong contrast that we didn’t really think meshed well. The chocolate overpowers the root beer, and it gets overwhelmingly sweet. If you’re a fan of unique combinations, this may be your jam, but we’re not shouting from the rooftops about it for sure. In fact, our reporter called it a 1/5 star.

WHY that flavor, Disney?

This could definitely be fun as a snack to split on a hot day, as long as you’re prepared for a mess and you’ve got someone brave enough to try the *ahem*, unique combination of chocolate and root beer. If we could swap things around, we’d prefer to have chocolate with Cherry Coke and the root beer with vanilla ice cream, but alas.
