This scam involves many people’s bucket list items, so beware! A new attraction called Universe Fantasy Land in China recreates Mount Fuji for visitors, according to the South China Morning Post. That’s a wild sentence! ©South China Morning Post The fake Mount Fuji is a painted hill that you can take pictures with for 98 yuan, about $13 USD. It even has small eruptions on the weekends, made with pink smoke. Guests’ biggest complaint is that it doesn’t cost any money to take photos with the real Mount Fuji. ©South China Morning Post Universe Fantasy Land was meant to be “a fairy tale landscape, featuring a mountain, a shimmering lake, lush green grass, a while horse, and a charming wooden cottage, all aimed at enticing urban dwellers from the capital city, Beijing, who are eager for an escape from the pressures of work and daily life.” ©South China Morning Post The biggest part? Mount Fuji is not located in China—it’s in Japan! We hope no tourists fall for this trap. It might be fun for a joke, but don’t forget to add the real Mount Fuji to your bucket list. ©Britannica That reminds us of going to the China Pavilion in EPCOT and pretending it’s the real country! Yes, we love taking pictures in the pavilion, but it certainly doesn’t replace the country — it just gives us a taste of what we could see if we visited.
