REVIEW: We Tried a NEW Corn Ice Cream Cone and It’s So Much Better Than We Thought

Recommended Posts

It’s almost summer, so we are beating the heat (and the rain) the best way we know how — with soft serve!

We got caught in a rainstorm and thought nothing would make us happier than a bit of ice cream while we waited it out. We slid over to Swirls on the Water at Disney Springs to try a new cone offering, which you’ll want to add to your snack list.

Planning guide for the ultimate Disney vacation

Swirls on the Water is in the Marketplace at Disney Springs and offers soft-serve and Dole Whip. That’s right, you can get the Dole Whip you love without needing a park ticket.

We tried the Salted Blue Corn Cone for $6.49. We had our choice of vanilla, strawberry, pineapple, lime, coconut, and mango, and went with the lime and mango swirled together. Keep in mind that because of the machines, there are only certain flavors that can be swirled together.

When we took a bite (a lick?), the flavors reminded us of sherbet! Neither flavor was too strong, but the mango brought sweetness, and the lime brought tartness, but not enough for your face to scrunch up. We loved the balance between the two flavors. There were even sprinkles on the edges stuck on the cone with chocolate, and we loved the crunch!

Lime and Mango

What about that corn cone? It tasted like a traditional cone, but it was a gorgeous, vibrant blue with a stronger savory flavor. It isn’t overwhelmingly corn, which is a nice thing when it comes to ice cream, but it has the same level of corn as tortillas or popcorn. While it was more savory than normal, it doesn’t hit you over the head with heartiness, but plays a little bit of sweet and savory together.

The cone!

It felt adventurous to eat a savory cone, but the flavors were still familiar enough for the whole family to enjoy. It was a lovely twist on normal soft-serve but still hits that ice cream sweet spot. While it’s called Salted Blue Corn Cone, it wasn’t very salty and matched the ice cream well.

Summer is around the corner and we’re so excited to be trying all the summer snacks at Disney World. Keep following Disney Food Blog for more snack and restaurant reviews.

WE’VE EATEN AT EVERY DISNEY SPRINGS RESTAURANT. THESE ARE THE BEST.
