Disney4me
Epic Universe is an all-new park with multiple new dining options, and since food is our specialty, we’re making it our mission to try EVERY single restaurant in this new park so you know where you should visit during your vacation. Epic Universe While there are great spots in the different portals around the park, don’t count out Celestial Park, the main hub “land” because there are some fantastic options here as well! Frosty Moon is an ice cream spot located here, but is it really worth the stop, or should you find your sweet treat elsewhere? We found out! Atmosphere This is a walk-up stand with very little seating around, so you’ll either want to take your ice cream a little bit away and sit down on one of the benches in Celestial Park (we recommend one with great views of Helios Grand and the fountains), and just keep in mind you won’t be able to bask in the AC while you eat. Frosty Moon The only shade is underneath the building’s awning, but there’s no place to sit down, so it’s hard to knock out two birds with one stone here. Menu The menus here are located inside the ordering window, and unfortunately, they’re so dark when the sun is high in the sky outside that it’s very difficult to read before you get up to the counter, which slows the process down as people decide. However, we’ve got the menu right here for you, so you can decide in advance! The flavors of soft serve available are: Vanilla Chocolate Cheesecake Strawberry Yum Cookie Butter Vegan Vanilla Frosty Moon As for toppings, you can get two of the following included in the price of your ice cream, which is $7.99 for a cup and $8.49 for a cone: Mini marshmallows Brownie pieces Streusel Cake pieces Oreo crumble Strawberry cheesecake pieces Celestial sprinkles Star sprinkles Birthday sprinkles Eats We decided to grab two different ice cream options on two different days. Our first time, we grabbed the strawberry yum soft serve with mini marshmallows and celestial sprinkles in a waffle cone. The mini marshmallows are the freeze dried kind that are in Lucky Charms cereal and this delighted us way more than we expected it to, especially because it added a different texture that worked well with the soft serve. Strawberry soft serve with marshmallows and sprinkles! The sprinkles were very pretty but didn’t add any additional flavor, but overall, we enjoyed it! The strawberry ice cream didn’t taste like natural strawberry, but it tasted like a GOOD artificial strawberry, and the consistency of the soft serve was great — almost like churned ice cream before it hardens in the freezer. We do think it’s a little pricey, but you get a good amount of ice cream and two toppings included for that price, so we were happy with our experience! We enjoyed it! Our second time around we grabbed a Cookie Butter Cone with Brownies and Gold Star Sprinkles. While we, again, thought the soft serve was decent quality, we weren’t a big fan of this flavor because it had a strange smokiness to it. So much so that it reminded us more of coffee ice cream rather than cookie butter, which wasn’t what we had been expecting. Cookie Butter soft serve with brownie pieces and sprinkles However, the brownie pieces were delicious — moist and soft — and the sprinkles added a great crunch to break up the soft serve texture. Were we wildly impressed? No, but we also weren’t insanely disappointed either. Nosh or Not This Epic Universe restaurant is a must-visit if… You’re really craving soft serve ice cream You need a sweet treat and you’re not super picky about it being something that will wow you You’re with pickier eaters/are a picky eater You should skip this Epic Universe spot if… You’re looking for a great treat that will blow your mind You’re not a fan of soft serve ice cream You don’t want to spend nearly $10 a person on a sweet treat that’s not shareable Overall Overall, we’d say this spot is fine, but nothing to write home about. It’s great if you’re craving some ice cream or you/your group wants something that’s a little more familiar rather than a more adventurous treat around the park, but if you’re hoping for $10 ice cream that will blow your mind, this isn’t it. In fact, we stand by the statement that Florean Fortescue’s in Universal Studios has better ice cream for sure. Would you try this spot?
