Disney4me
We have been to Epic Universe a few times now, and we have spent a lot of time riding rides, just living in the atmosphere of all five themed lands in Universal Orlando’s new theme park, and living our best lives. Isle of Berk Now, we’re going to warn you now that one of our favorite lands is How To Train Your Dragon — Isle of Berk (where we met TOOTHLESS, y’all!), but more importantly, one of our favorite snacks lives in this land (it’s the Goldfish Mac and Cheese cone and y’all gotta try it out). Now, we’re trying even MORE new food in that land, so come with us as we review Spit Fyre Grill. Atmosphere You’ll find Spit Fyre Grill in Isle of Berk near the Fyre Drill ride in a “bustling trader’s market” where you can munch on Viking fare. This quick service spot even has dragon wings on top to represent the unseen dragon fry cook that works here. Spit Fyre Grill You’ll order from one of many walk-up windows or via Mobile Order. Menu The menu here includes various bowls, as well as beverages, including ICEE. A selection of beer, wine, and mead are also available. Note that you can also get the Mac and Cheese cones here via Mobile Order. Eats First up, we grabbed the Valka’s Vegan Bowl, made with Kale spring mix blend, bean salad, pineapple salsa, candy beets, vegan feta, mango, and mint vinaigrette for $15.99. Okay, warning — this bowl is surprisingly spicy. It’s a basic salad bowl with some vegan feta that tastes pretty much like the real thing. Valka’s Vegan Bowl But, yeah, how does this combination end up being so spicy? We have no idea, but we will warn you if you’re used to general theme park spicy. We loved it, of course, but if you’re sensitive to that kind of heat, stay away. It hits the tongue hard, and you might want some milk to chase it down. It might seem light and refreshing, but it’s bringing some FYRE. SPICY Next up, we ordered Hiccup’s Salmon Bowl for $18.99, made with ancient grains, grilled citrus salmon, jicama slaw, blistered cherry tomatoes, feta cheese, and avocado crema. This bowl was a hit for us, too. The salmon was well-cooked, and the size was perfect. The slaw with the tomatoes and feta cheese just works well with it, too, for a flavorful combination. Hiccup’s Salmon Bowl Honestly, we didn’t expect a bowl like this with such high-quality options in a theme park. It’s also a great choice if you want something a little healthier, but filling. Better than it had any right to be So, yeah, these bowls kinda rock. Nosh or Not Sail on over to Spit Fyre Grill if… You want healthier options. These bowls offer a great meal option with healthier ingredients compared to a lot of other theme park fare. You like really spicy food. The vegan bowl set our tastebuds on fire — in a good way. If you like that, you have to try it. You want a quick meal. This is a quick-service restaurant that also has Mobile Order, so you’ll get your food fast. You should skip the Spit Fyre Grill spot if… You have picky eaters in your group. The higher-end ingredients and elevated bowls here might be a bit too much for pickier eaters, although you can always grab one of the Mac and Cheese cones if all else fails. You want a table service dining experience. This is basically a hut with walk-up windows, so you won’t get a sit-down restaurant dining experience here. You want a heavily themed experience. Although the theming is on-point, this isn’t an immersive restaurant like you might find in Dark Universe. Overall Overall, we’d head to Spit Fyre Grill again for both of these bowls because we liked that this was well elevated from what you might expect as theme park food. The ingredients are fresh and the bowls are well-thought out. This is also a great option if you want something a little healthier than a burger and fries. In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disney World and beyond. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more!
