Let’s go to Disney World!

While the resort is in a state of transformation overall, with major construction projects in various stages at all four of Disney World’s theme parks, there are still some big changes coming to Disney World this summer.

Planning guide for the ultimate Disney vacation

Double the Water Parks

Since Walt Disney World reopened following the COVID-19 closure, the resort has alternated which of its two water parks — Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon — is open at a given time, with one being closed for refurbishment while the other is operational. That’s all changing in May.

Blizzard Beach

First off, Typhoon Lagoon reopened on May 1st. Now, Blizzard Beach closed on that day, BUT the park is reopening on May 21st, and BOTH of Disney World’s water parks will be open at the same time all summer! This is especially notable, as this summer will be the first summer season in which Disney World hotel guests receive a complimentary water park ticket on their check-in date.

Typhoon Lagoon

According to Disney, “For the first time since 2019, Disney World will have all 6 of our parks—all 4 theme parks and 2 water parks—open at the same time. From May 21st through September 7th, Disney World guests can enjoy the tropical shipwreck oasis of Typhoon Lagoon and the frosty fun of Blizzard Beach water park.”

Hotels with Character

According to the Disney Parks Blog, “This summer, guests staying at select resorts – Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort and Disney’s Wilderness Lodge – will be able to enjoy even more Disney-themed activities designed for families with kids. These activities will include character visits with set appearance times to help you plan your day and an expanded itinerary of things to do with your family throughout your stay at these four resorts. “

Having scheduled character meet & greets at these Disney hotels is a game changer for Disney hotel guests, who will be able to meet their favorites BEFORE heading to the parks for the day, OR add some Disney character magic to a day otherwise spent just relaxing at their resort.

Two NEW Shows at Hollywood Studios

May 27th will see the debut of not one, but TWO new stage shows at Hollywood Studios. The first, Unfairly Ever After is a “spellbinding show with moving music and a most memorable finale—where you help decide who has been treated most unfairly” amongst the Disney Villains. The show will be located in the former home of Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy.

The second new Hollywood Studios show is a reimagined interpretation of the park’s long-running Little Mermaid show. The new “fully reimagined show will take the audience to Ariel’s treasure trove” and be known as The Little Mermaid: A Musical Adventure. According to Disney, this new show will keep “the lively puppets, props, and scenery center stage. But new to this production, get ready to be dazzled with new digital puppetry and jaw-dropping effects. Plus, the addition of new-to-the-show songs!”

Disney Starlight is Coming

Summer 2025 will see the return of a nighttime parade to the Magic Kingdom with the debut of Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away.

According to Disney, the new parade will combine “nostalgic Disney storytelling and glowing innovation, continuing the legacy of dazzling nighttime entertainment that holds a special place in the hearts of so many” and feature characters from “classic and new Walt Disney Animation Studios films like Peter Pan, Encanto, Frozen, Moana” and more.
