Disney4me
Okay, so when you’re looking for a little snacky snack in Disney World, you have a TON of options, including Mickey pretzels, Dole Whip, Mickey ice cream sandwiches, and so many MORE snacks (so many that we can’t even list them all here). American Adventure However, what if you’re craving a classic theme park kind of snack that can satisfy your sweet tooth? If you’re craving a funnel cake, you might just want to head to the Funnel Cake Stand in the American Adventure Pavilion in EPCOT. Well, we did JUST THAT recently to get you a full review of the funnel cakes. Atmosphere So the Funnel Cake Stand is basically just a kiosk in the American Adventure Pavilion in EPCOT. It’s just a small colonial-looking stand that’s all about that most classic of American snacks, the funnel cake. Now we will warn you, this is just a snack stand and there is NO dedicated seating, so you’ll have to wander around the pavilion to find a place to sit and eat your funnel cake. Funnel Cake Stand But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?! Menu As you may have guessed, the menu is ALL about funnel cakes. You’ve got a variety of funnel cakes available, including special special festival-exclusive funnel cakes, as well as regular funnel cakes with sugar, whipped cream, ice cream, and a Cookies ‘n Cream Funnel Cake. The only beverage available here is water. BUT you can also buy a Funnel Cake Kit to take home to make your own funnel cakes. Menu And now, onto the main event — the food! Eats We decided to try two of the classic funnel cakes here, starting with the Cookies ‘n Cream Funnel Cake for $15. It’s served with Sugar, Vanilla Ice Cream, Crushed Cookies, and Chocolate Sauce. This is a classic American snack, complete with the whole cookies and cream flavors. Also, we are obsessed with the block of ice cream on top — SO interesting. We did notice, though, that the block melts slower than when they just put a scoop of ice cream on something, and maybe there’s some ice cream science thing happening here…who knows? Cookies ‘n Cream Funnel Cake The funnel cake itself is crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside, and full of sugary flavor, especially with the powdered sugar. The crumbled cookies add a nice crunch. We also liked that there was a light chocolate flavor that wasn’t TOO chocolatey. The ice cream was nice and creamy and worked well with the funnel cake. If you’re craving a funnel cake, this is it, y’all. A sugary treat We also decided to get a traditional Funnel Cake with Sugar for $10. This is just a funnel cake…with, well, with powdered sugar on top. Now, we noticed that this one wasn’t as fresh as the Cookies ‘n Cream Funnel Cake, but we think it was cooked a bit longer. It was a little crunchier and kinda’ falling apart on us. So yeah, because these are made on the spot, you might see some inconsistencies in the fried dough. Funnel Cake with Sugar However, you’re getting it hot and fresh, and that’s worth it. Also, pro tip: eat it while it’s still hot because it gets a little tough if it sits awhile. ALL the sugar This is one sugary treat, but if you want a classic funnel cake that reminds you of an American fair, this is it. Nosh or Not This Disney World snack spot is a must if… You want a classic American fair kind of treat. Yes, most of us can get funnel cakes everywhere, but if you’re from another country, you certainly need to try this fried dough treat at least once. You have a sweet tooth. If you love sweets, a funnel cake can’t be beat. You want a fresh snack. These are made on the spot, so you’re getting something that is made to order. You should skip this Disney World snack spot if… You don’t want a sugary snack. The funnel cakes here are loaded with sugar, so if that’s not your thing, stay away. You want to sit down and enjoy a snack. Although you might find some seating at the American Adventure pavilion, there is no dedicated seating for the Funnel Cake Stand, meaning you might end up eating it off the top of a trash can. You want a snack that’s not so basic. This is a basic snack that most Americans can get anywhere. If you want to try something a little more unique, visit the other World Showcase pavilions instead. Overall The Funnel Cake Stand fills in space at the American Adventure Pavilion, and maybe for those who aren’t from America, it could be a chance to try a classic American snack. The lack of dedicated seating is off-putting because who wants to eat a funnel cake standing up? Anyway, it’s basic, but it can satisfy a sweet tooth, so there’s that.
