  4. It can be SO hard to choose what shows to watch these days! ©Disney With the variety of streaming services out there, it’s easy to get overwhelmed with all the movie and TV show options. And coming soon, Disney is changing up some of its offerings…so here’s what you need to know! According to Deadline, Raven-Symoné is extending her relationship with Disney after the end of her TV series Raven’s Home. The show ended after its 6th season and will not return for a 7th, but Raven-Symoné has entered a deal with Disney to executive produce and direct the sitcom Alice in the Palace, which has received a pilot order. ©Disney Alice in the Palace is a spinoff of Raven’s Home, starring the show’s character Alice. It will follow the same multi-camera sitcom format as its predecessor. Alice in the Palace picks up with Alice (who is Raven’s young cousin) returning to England and reuniting with her doppelganger, Duchess Clementine. It’s your classic “swapping places” storyline, where each girl will get the chance to live the other’s lifestyle for a little while. ©Disney Outside of this, there are some other new entertainment offerings Disney’s releasing as well! The Wizards of Waverly Place sequel series now has a title — Wizards Beyond Waverly Place. Disney shared photos of Selena Gomez and David Henrie reprising their roles for the new series, and Gomez will also serve as the executive producer. The internet went absolutely WILD when this show was announced back in January, so we know that plenty of Disney adults will be hyped for this one! ©Disney Disney shares the series synopsis as follows: “The series follows an adult Justin Russo, who has chosen to lead a normal, mortal life with his family, Giada, Roman and Milo. When Justin’s sister Alex brings Billie to his home seeking help, Justin realizes he must dust off his magical skills to mentor the wizard-in-training while also juggling his everyday responsibilities — and safeguarding the future of the Wizard World.” WIZARDS BEYOND WAVERLY PLACE – (Disney/Eric McCandless) And finally, last year Disney announced ZOMBIES: The Re-Animated Show as a new spinoff cartoon series for fans of the ZOMBIES movies on Disney Channel. The new series has now been added to the Disney+ website and is listed as “coming soon.” So if you’re hyped for some new content with Zed, Addison, and friends, then now is the time! ©Disney We can’t wait to check out these new shows when they premiere, and we’ll keep you updated with more information as we get it! 7. When Disney World first announced that it had plans to build a Moana-themed attraction in EPCOT, a lot of us were wondering exactly what Disney had in mind for the attraction. Journey of Water Well, imagine everyone’s confusion when we all learned that this new attraction would be a walkthrough thing where you were allowed to play with water (with is keeping with the classic edutainment theme of EPCOT). Well, the attraction officially opened in 2023, and since then, we’ve heard some conspiracy theories (okay, so we might’ve also added our own) about Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana. It contains the soul of Dwayne Johnson So Dwayne Johnson, who voiced Maui in Moana and will be reprising his role in the live-action Moana and Moana 2, is a pretty vital part of the Moana story, right? Well, Disney knew that they needed to include him in some way in the EPCOT attraction. So they got Te Ka (Te Fiti’s darker alter ego) to trap his soul in the Heart of Te Fiti. ©Disney Okay, this didn’t happen…like at all. But Dwayne Johnson IS all about Moana and mentions it a lot on his social media, so it’s sort of believable, right? EXCLUSIVE LOOK at Disney’s NEW ‘Moana 2’ Movie It affected the color of another attraction So one thing we noticed around the time Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana opened is that the nearby The Seas with Nemo and Friends pavilion got a change in paint color. The pavilion was painted a sand color, and the theory is that it was because you can see the building from inside the Moana attraction and its previous blue was distracting. The Seas was repainted Is this true? Who knows? But The Seas with Nemo and Friends did get a new paint job so that much is true. Here’s the Bad News About EPCOT’s New Moana Attraction Not enough water pressure When Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana started being tested and had early previews, there were times when other water features in EPCOT were turned off (we saw it at the Imagination Pavilion, Land Pavilion, and The Seas Pavilion). The theory is that EPCOT didn’t have enough water pressure for those things PLUS the new attraction. Waterfall at Journey of Imagination Pavilion Is this true? Who knows? But it makes sense, although you would think Imagineers would’ve figured that out. However, we’ve still seen times where the jumping fountains have been turned off at the Imagination Pavilion. 6 Disney Loungefly Bags You Need for the Moana Attraction in EPCOT The attraction was just an excuse for a bathroom So yes, this is unfounded, but we’ll admit we were very surprised to see a bathroom in the middle of the Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana attraction. But this is one of the nicest bathrooms in Disney World. Disney World does love a pretty bathroom, after all (which is why there’s a Rapunzel tower in Magic Kingdom, right?). We love this bathroom It IS odd that Disney chose to put a bathroom in the middle of this walkthrough attraction when rides with super long lines still don’t have bathroom access. See more photos of the bathroom It closes during the rain So there’s a thing where some people believe that the attraction closes when it rains. It IS an outdoor attraction, after all. And we all know all outdoor attractions close when it rains (or at least when there’s a storm). But this isn’t really a ride, so it’s a little different. It doesn’t close when it rains unless there’s lightning nearby A Cast Member told us that Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana when it will close even if it’s not raining hard if there has been lightning reported in the area (which is the rule of thumb for most outdoor attractions). That could explain why someone might think it closes if it rains even a little. List of attractions that close when it rains in Disney World Te Fiti is meant to do something When Disney World showed off that massive Te Fiti figure in Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana, a lot of folks thought she would be one of the interactive features. Many people thought that if you waved your arms or made a certain kind of movement, it would cause Te Fiti to move in some way. Te Fiti doesn’t move However, as we’ve seen, that is not the case. But now we think Disney missed out on a very cool opportunity. Think at how AMAZING that Te Fiti would be if she just had a little bit of movement! Everyone Will Forget This HACK for the Moana Attraction in EPCOT So as you can see, there has been some speculation about the ride, plus a few things we thought on our own. However, most of these things are probably untrue, but it’s fun to theorize, right? Stay tuned to DFB for more. 4 Clues About Disney’s NEW Moana Show – Coming Soon to the Treasure Cruise Ship! 11. Conquering Disney World is all about strategy! Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure If you’re in the midst of making those plans, there are three rides in particular that you ABSOLUTELY have to prioritize because they sell out every day on Genie+: Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, Frozen Ever After, and Slinky Dog Dash. Let’s go over some of our favorite tips and tricks so that you don’t miss out on any must-do rides! As we said, we’re going to go over some of our favorite tips and tricks so that you don’t miss out on any must-do rides! Understanding Genie+ First and foremost, let’s do a quick refresher on Genie+. It’s Disney’s paid service that allows you to reserve access to the Lightning Lane of a number of attractions and bypass the (longer) standby line. It can be a game-changer if you want to maximize your park time and minimize wait times. Genie+ Here are some tips so you can make the most of Genie+: Purchase Genie+ EARLY: Genie+ can be added to your ticket starting at midnight on the day of your visit. However, you can’t book your first Lightning Lane (LL) until 7 AM. So, set your alarm(s) and be ready to book right at 7 AM. Be Quick About It: Like we said, rides like Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, Frozen Ever After, and Slinky Dog Dash can sell out within minutes, so you’re going to need to have the My Disney Experience (MDE) app open and ready a few minutes before 7 AM. Have Your Booking Strategy Ready Beforehand: Start by booking your highest priority ride first, then consider the rest afterward for park hopping, etc. ©Disney In addition to Genie+ rides, there are rides in each park that have Individual Lightning Lanes and Virtual Queues. Let’s break those down for you, too: Individual Lightning Lanes are rides that you pay to book the Lightning Lanes for on an individual basis. You pay a set fee to make a Lightning Lane reservation for just that one ride. Virtual Queues are free. You join them through the Disney World app, and get a “boarding group” number. When your boarding group is called, you have a one-hour window to go to the ride. Unlike a Lightning Lane where you can choose from certain time slots, when you join a Virtual Queue, your return time can vary. You can join a Virtual Queue at 7AM or at 1PM most days — if a park is open later for a special event, there may be another Virtual Queue drop later in the evening. If a ride has a Virtual Queue, it doesn’t have a standy line. We have more details on Virtual Queues right here. Here’s a look at the rides that use Individual Lightning Lanes and/or Virtual Queues: TRON Lightcycle / Run: Individual Lightning Lane and Virtual Queue (no standby line) Seven Dwarfs Mine Train: Individual Lightning Lane and Standby Line Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind: Individual Lightning Lane and Virtual Queue (no standby line) Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance: Individual Lightning Lane and Standby Line Avatar Flight of Passage: Individual Lightning Lane and Standby Line If you’re wondering about Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, which is set to open June 28th in Magic Kingdom, Disney has said it will be part of the regular Genie+ (not an Individual Lightning Lane), and that it will have a Virtual Queue at first. We expect that it will sell out very quickly on Genie+ each day when it opens. Which Rides to Book First Other than the 3 rides we’ve been talking about (Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, Frozen Ever After, and Slinky Dog Dash), which other rides should you book first? Remember, we’re talking about booking your Genie+ LLs (not ILLs). Big Thunder Mountain Railroad These are the rides you should consider booking (in our most humble opinion): Magic Kingdom: Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Peter Pan’s Flight (and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure when it opens) EPCOT: Test Track, Soarin’ Around the World, Mission: SPACE Disney’s Hollywood Studios: Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run Disney’s Animal Kingdom: Expedition Everest, Kilimanjaro Safaris, Kali River Rapids Expedition Everest Do You Need Genie+ for Every Park? Purchasing Genie+ for your park day can be beneficial, but hear us when we say that it’s not ALWAYS necessary. Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Hollywood Studios tend to be busier than Animal Kingdom, which generally makes Genie+ a bit more useful, especially since they have the bulk of the rides. Animal Kingdom When it comes to Animal Kingdom, however, you might find that if you come with a solid plan (maybe you’ll rope drop) you’re more than likely going to be able to get on all the rides you want without having to wait for that long, so you might not need Genie+ Best Advice/Tips & Tricks Let’s round this out with some of our favorite tips and tricks that should come in handy: First off, you need to be familiar with the My Disney Experience app beforehand. Play around with it so you know where everything is, what the buttons do, how to make reservations, etc. Also, don’t just be one and done, meaning you should refresh the app/check back in with the app frequently. This is because sometimes more slots open up throughout the day. Some rides have single-rider lines which could save you time. Also, the lines tend to be shorter later in the evening (especially closer to closing time). If you’re staying at a Disney hotel, take advantage of extended evening hours and early entry. (We’ve got more info on how those work right here.) Slinky Dog Dash We’re watching wait times, Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lane sell-out rates, and all things Disney World every day of the year to bring you this info. Keep following DFB for more! 17. Disney Springs is home to some incredible restaurants and while we’ve had some great meals here, there’s some hefty competition between the quick-service restaurants here. There are just too many good choices — that’s a good problem to have, though, right? Earl of Sandwich Now, if you’re willing to make the trip to the further end of Disney Springs, you might find yourself pleasantly surprised by a good meal at an even better price! If you’ve ever ventured to the Marketplace side of Disney Springs, chances are this restaurant’s signature wavy yellow sign out front has caught your attention. Ta-da! If you’ve never stopped by Earl of Sandwich before, you can find this restaurant between the Spice and Tea Exchange and Once Upon A Time. Here, you’ll find “The World’s Greatest Hot Sandwich!” while the rest of the menu features their signature hot sandwiches, pizza breads, soups, salads, sides, wraps, and desserts. Each sandwich creation starts with artisan loaves of bread baked to perfection and piled with premium meats, cheeses, and veggies according to family recipes. We like the sound of that! Atmosphere Earl of Sandwich is a quiet little sandwich shop…except when at peak dining times, a.k.a. the breakfast, lunch, and dinner rush. Around noon and between 5–6PM, you might find it a bit more people-y inside. It’s very regal-themed (you know, just like nobility and dignitaries would have it) and has space for covered outdoor seating (with working fans y’all). Outdoor seating There is a good amount of seating inside, too. Indoor tables and chairs When you walk through the front door, you’ll find the indoor seating to your left and right, and directly ahead of you is where you’ll see the line to the counter. Line and ordering counter Unless you’re mobile ordering through the restaurant’s website, you’ll want to come through here to view your ordering choices and place the order for your main entrees, sides, and drinks. Menu There’s a menu posted outside before you enter to give you an idea of what awaits you inside to order, but it can be a bit hard to read (especially if there’s a glare from the sun). Outside menu So, Earl of Sandwich has made it easier on you and posted more menu boards above the counter where you’ll order, but here’s a quick rundown of what you can expect to find here. There are hot sandwiches… ©Disney …wraps and salads… ©Disney …and you can even make your order a combo! There are also a couple of soup options and a few sides. ©Disney There are even a few options offered for kids’ meals in case you’re looking for something a bit more palatable for little ones, along with several dessert options. ©Disney To wash it all down, Earl of Sandwich also offers various beverage options, including sodas, teas, and lemonade. ©Disney Honestly, with such a selection, it’s hard NOT to find something that will appeal to almost everyone here! So, we decided to place our order. Pick up area Once you’ve placed your order, you’re given a ticket and buzzer to let you know when it’s time to come to the counter to collect your food (unless you’ve mobile ordered like we did, in which case you won’t receive a buzzer and will need to watch the time for when your food is anticipated to be ready). Eats Since we were looking to make a full meal for our visit we decided to order a few sandwiches and a dessert for good measure. We decided that The Full Montague, the Buffalo Chicken Wrap, and a Brookie were calling our name, and we didn’t have to wait for long! Our entire meal Let’s dig into the nitty gritty of each item we ordered. We started things off by unwrapping the Buffalo Chicken Wrap. This beauty is made with Grilled Chicken, Cheddar, Romaine, Roma Tomato, Celery Salt, Buffalo Sauce, and Bleu Cheese Dressing which cost us $9.49, and boy was it WORTH IT! Buffalo Chicken Wrap Earl of Sandwich tries to help you out and precuts your sandwiches and wraps for you, so we didn’t have to do a ton of work here other than keeping everything in the wrap…well, wrapped. As soon as we tore the cut pieces of the wrap apart, we found ourselves swarmed with a LOT of filling. The flour tortilla makes it look a bit messy — it had a hard time holding everything in on its own (which doesn’t get better with the longer you allow it to sit uneaten), but that didn’t take away from how delicious it was. The Romain lettuce was fresh and had a great crunch to it, while the pieces of chicken breast were juicy and, when paired against the buffalo sauce, were even softer. Cross section of the wrap Our only complaint with this one was with the buffalo sauce. It wasn’t very spicy, so we don’t think you should expect a lot of heat from it like you might typically expect out of buffalo sauce, but it had every other element to it that made it taste just like buffalo sauce! It was just a little off-putting to us. Then, it was time to turn our attention to The Full Montague sandwich. This was the one we were most excited about. It’s made of Roasted Beef, Turkey, Swiss, Cheddar, Lettuce, Roma Tomato, and Earl’s Mustard Sauce which cost us $8.99. The Full Montague Again, the presentation with this one was everything, and we found our mouths watering at the mere sight of this sandwich. This one also came to us precut when we unwrapped it, and we couldn’t wait to dig in. Cross-section of the sandwich This sandwich had LOTS of great flavors to it. The lettuce and veggies were crispy and had a nice crunch to them. The roasted beef and turkey were well-cooked. We didn’t find the Earl’s mustard sauce spicy, but since there wasn’t a whole lot of it on the sandwich, it’s really subtle and doesn’t overpower the rest of the flavors in the sandwich. The sandwich bread was a tad bit sweet and tasted like the Parker House rolls you would find at your local grocery store, which we think made the difference in this whole sandwich. We saved the best for last thought with the Brookie. While there’s nothing terribly special about sticking a brownie and chocolate chip cookie together, we decided it was the right choice to round out our meal. We grabbed ours (which came individually wrapped) for $3.49. Brookie Once we unwrapped it it was hard to let this dessert sit long enough to take pictures of it! The brownie was gooey and fudgey and broke apart so easily from the doughy chocolate chip cookie side. Two halves of the brookie As we said, there is nothing terribly special about this other than it’s a dessert combination fit to please even the most hard-to-please, but we found it to be just what we needed to wrap up a full meal at Earl of Sandwich and leave satisfied. Overall Overall, this meal really surprised us with how satisfied we were by the end of the meal. While some menu items shined brighter than others to us, we can honestly say we actually enjoyed everything we ate here. All wrapped up! We wouldn’t mind picking up any of these three on a return visit to Earl of Sandwich in the near future, and we think you should consider them the next time you visit Disney Springs. Nosh Or Not? Stop on by Earl of Sandwich if… You’re looking for a quick, light bite. These meals are made for individual portions and aren’t meant to be super heavy. You’re looking for something fast to eat with a little flexibility in the menu. While we ordered a few sandwiches here for this visit, that’s not all that Earl of Sandwich offers. Try pairing your sandwich with a soup or salad! You NEED somewhere to eat where everyone you’re traveling with will eat something off the menu. As we mentioned before there are lots of sandwich options, salads, soups, sides that you could easily make a full entree out of, and even a few kid’s menu options here. Try out another restaurant if… Sandwiches and soup just won’t cut it for you. That’s the bulk of the menu here or you will be paying a pretty penny to combine a few sides together for a meal. You’re looking for a full-service restaurant. This is a quick-service restaurant, which means seating will be on a first-come, first-serve basis, and your food will be served bagged. 19. We’ve seen all kinds of Disney World park maps over the years. We’ve seen familiar Disney characters grace the front cover. We’ve seen the iconic Cinderella Castle take center stage on old maps. We’ve even seen regular old Disney World visitors (or Disney models…how do we get that job?!) earn a spot on the front of the map. Talk about a big honor! But Disney also has a digital park map that comes in handy when you’re on the go. Magic Kingdom park maps change all the time! Not to sound dramatic, but we use the My Disney Experience app pretty much every single day. We’re in the parks every day of the year, so between all the Mobile Orders we have placed, the wait times we have checked, and the character meet-and-greet times we have confirmed, that app is like our holy grail. And recently, the My Disney Experience app just CHANGED! OK, so the map feature on the My Disney Experience app is SUPER helpful. It shows you every possible thing you could need, including all the closest water bottle refill stations and bathrooms no matter where you are in Disney World. ©Disney You can also find out where to charge your phone straight from the My Disney Experience app. If you’re ever curious about something — whether it’s a character meet-and-greet, ride, restaurant, or shop, just tap the search icon at the bottom! You’d be amazed by all the hidden features in the app. ©Disney But recently, the app was updated to reflect an exciting change! Do you see what we see? The Tiana’s Bayou Adventure ride is listed — with its brand-new opening date! ©Disney You can see the loooong queue behind the ride (don’t forget — this new ride will open with a virtual queue), along with some of those log-shaped ride vehicles just WAITING for people to hop inside. The good news is that we’ve spotted some Disney Imagineers onboard the log boats, so we can, in fact, confirm that they float. That’s a relief, considering Tiana’s Bayou Adventure ride previews begin SOON! Imagineers testing Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Oh, and if you have the Disneyland app, look carefully at the digital map! 20. Choosing where to stay in Disney World can be a difficult decision. Dolphin fountain There are so many hotels with fantastic theming, amazing pools, proximity to the parks, and so many other attributes, but what about the comfort of the beds? Getting a good night’s sleep is of utmost importance in Disney World, and if it’s your number one priority, you need to know where to find these HEAVENLY beds on property! Most Disney World hotels use Beautyrest Disney Pillow Top Mattresses, and many guests absolutely love them. Animal Kingdom Lodge hotel room They are a little bit on the softer side, so people who enjoy firmer mattresses sometimes have some issues with them, but most guests really enjoy them and wish they had them as their own mattresses back home (which, we have great news, you CAN actually buy them!). Grand Floridian DVC Rooms But those aren’t the mattresses we’re talking about today. No, we’re still on Disney World property, but we’re talking about the mattresses at the Swan & Dolphin Hotels. These hotels are operated by Marriott, but they are on Disney World property, so you’re still very close to the theme parks and can even walk to Disney’s BoardWalk in just a few minutes (which then gives you easy transportation to EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios). The Bed at Swan Reserve The beds here are LITERALLY called Westin Heavenly Beds and feature “a pillow-top mattress, a white goose-down comforter, and four overstuffed pillows” according to the Swan and Dolphin website. One of our team members stayed at the hotel years ago and remembers that her family ADORED these beds! Swan Reserve Room And guess what? YOU CAN BUY THEM ONLINE! That’s right! According to the Westin store website, these mattresses are newly available in 2024 for public sale, and no longer will you have to travel all the way to Disney World to have one of the best sleeps of your life. Swan and Dolphin Hotels Now, you may not be thinking about how important beds are in a Disney World hotel because you’ll be spending so much time in the parks, but that’s precisely why it’s important. If you’re able to sleep soundly, you’ll wake up refreshed each day (even if it is 7AM and you just went to bed 6 hours ago, it’ll be a solid 6 hours). If you can’t, you’ll be cranky, tired, and won’t be able to enjoy your trip to the fullest. 21. We’re officially headed into the HOT, HOT, HOT months at Disney World, and that means one thing. Barefoot Pool Bar We get like, five times more likely to seek out fun drinks as soon as it gets hotter at Disney World. There are so many great spots to grab a refreshing bevi, whether you’re looking for something alcoholic or something safe for our underage or sober friends! Barefoot Pool Bar is over at the Lava Pool at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. Here, you can find both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks as well as some small bites. Barefoot recently got some NEW bevies, so we’re headed to check them out! You in? The new drinks on the menu include the POG Mimosa, the Coconut Mocha, the Pear-fect Drink, and the Island Hideaway. We got ALL of them, and we’re here to tell ya what we think! First, we’ll start with that POG Mimosa! If you’re unfamiliar, POG juice is made of passionfruit, orange, and guava, and is served at many restaurants at the Polynesian and across Disney World property. The mimosa version features Chateau Ste. Michelle Brut with Minute Maid® Passion Fruit Orange Guava Juice. This bad boy is $15. POG Mimosa This is your typical POG drink but heavy on the bubbles! It has a nice, subtle sweetness but is nothing overly special. You can get this at the restaurants that serve POG juice, but it’s extra nice to have it at the walk-up bar. If you like mimosas, you’ll probably like this. POG Mimosa Next up, we’re trying the Coconut Mocha, which consists of WÓDKA Vodka, SelvaRey Rum, Joffrey’s Coffee Cold Brew, Cream of Coconut, and Vanilla. This one is $17! Coconut Mocha This one is very sweet and creamy! The only taste is the coconut which is slightly sweet and a bit nutty. It has that typical tropical flavor which is perfect if you’re staying at the Poly and lounging at the pool. However, it’s nothing to really go out of your way for. Coconut Mocha Next up, we have two non-alcoholic beverages! The first one is the Pear-Fect Punch for $5.99. This is a concoction of Lychee, Desert Pear, Ginger Beer, and DOLE® Pineapple Juice. Pear-fect Punch This reporter is IN LOVE with anything that has the sweet pear syrup inside it. It has the same syrup as the Prickly Pear Margarita in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and it’s technically seasonal. We really love it. It’s very sweet, and might be too sweet for some, but it has a bit of a ginger-y flavor at the end with a bit of an aromatic hint. This was the best drink we had here! Pear-Fect Punch Last but not least, let’s try the Island Hideaway! This is Orange Juice, Lime Juice, South Seas Blend, and DOLE® Pineapple Juice and is $5.99. Island Hideaway This is the perfect non-alcoholic tropical punch! It’s different from POG juice for sure, with the main difference being that it’s pineapple-forward. There’s also some tartness that comes from the lime! The south seas blend mentioned in the menu is actually mango, guava, and ginger, so there are subtle hints of those as well. The ginger is very gentle and doesn’t give that “burn.” This is a great option if you love fruity drinks! Island Hideaway So…should you grab these? Well, if you’re staying at the Polynesian or you’re having a resort hopping day, go for it! They’re very yummy drinks and we found them to be worth the money spent. However, they’re not necessarily worth a trip out of your way to grab them. We’ll be sure to keep you updated with more Disney news, so make sure to follow along so that you’re always in the loop and never miss a thing. 22. We’ve discovered a new way to get a “free” gift card at Universal. Universal Orlando On a recent trip to Universal Orlando, we found something pretty rare: a way to get FREE MONEY from a theme park. As you would expect, however, there is a catch. We’ve discovered that those who sign up for a Universal Visa will receive a $200 Universal gift card. As part of this in-park offer, you can also get two Coca-Cola Freestyle souvenir cups. Universal’s Visa card designs. There are two MASSIVE caveats here, though. The first is that the promotion only applies to those who sign up IN the park. In other words, applying for a Universal Visa online won’t work. Second, the guest must not only apply for the Visa, but they must also be APPROVED for the Visa before receiving the gift card. A Visa sign-up kiosk at Universal Orlando According to Universal, some of the potential benefits that come along with a Universal Rewards Plus Visa Signature Card include 4% back in rewards on qualifying Universal purchases, 2% back in rewards on Travel, Gas, and Dining purchases, and 1% back in rewards on all other purchases. However, the card has a $99 annual fee. The regular Universal Rewards Visa Signature Card has no annual fee but only offers 2% back in rewards on qualifying Universal purchases and 1% back in rewards on all other purchases. In addition, Universal offers exclusive lounges for cardholders in both the Orlando and Hollywood resorts. 23. Your trip to Disney World is coming up and we’ve got to talk! Don’t go to Disney without these things. We know you’re getting ready and finalizing those last-minute reservations, but we wanted to talk about what you’re packing in your suitcase for the trip. Specifically, we’ve got a list of must-haves (basically essentials at this point) that we think are going to be perfect for your trip to Disney World. Let’s go! DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Shop these Fuel Rods FuelRods can be found all around the parks! There’s one thing that you’re going to go through a lot when you’re at Disney World and that is power, specifically power for your devices. This is because you need to do everything with your phone. You have to use the My Disney Experience app for just about everything on top of having to use your phone to capture all the photos and videos of your trip. If you don’t come prepared with a portable charger (or two) you run the risk of running out of juice long before the end of your day. Save yourself all kinds of headaches and make sure you’re prepared with portable chargers like these Fuel Rods which you can swap out at a TON of locations throughout the parks for freshly topped off ones. We like to buy ours on Amazon because you basically get two for he price you’d pay for one in the parks! View on Amazon Shop this Owala Water Bottle Owala Water Bottle The next thing you need to keep an eye on while at Disney World is your hydration. It wouldn’t be Florida if it wasn’t hot and humid most of the time. That means you’re going to dripping sweat just standing still and the last thing we want for you is to face dehydration while you’re on vacation. You can save yourself the headache (and a lot of coin) if you come prepared with a reusable bottle like this one from Owala. We love the one we have and since there are a lot of refilling stations throughout the parks, we never have to worry about paying for bottled water. This bottle keeps our water cool all day long, is slim, and durable! We also like to have the characters sign it! View on Amazon Shop this Neck Fan Personal Neck Fan In the same vein as keeping yourself hydrated, you need to stay cool in the Florida heat. You’re not going to find a lot of shade at Disney World and since the sun is going to be beating down on you, you can make sure you’re not overheating by having a personal neck fan like this one on hand. Depending on the fan speed you choose, you can get anywhere between 4-16 hours of cool, which can potentially get you through the entire day. We love ours and can’t recommend it enough. We also love that these are hands free! View on Amazon Shop these Reusable Ponchos Clear Rain Jacket You’re going to notice a trend with these and it’s that you need to be prepared for everything Florida will throw at you. Not only is Florida hot and humid almost year-round, but during the rainy season (which lasts for quite a large portion of the year) you’re almost guaranteed to get at least one rain shower per day. We can’t recommend having a pair of good quality reusable ponchos in your bag for the parks. They will come in so handy for those quick showers and you can fold them down really tightly, which means you can even carry them in a belt bag too. We like this one because it buttons and you don’t have to pull it over your head! They’re also a nice thick material. View on Amazon Shop this Power Strip ©Amazon Just like with what we were saying about needing to have portable chargers with you because of all the power you’re going to burn through, you really need to consider bringing a power strip with you too. The portable chargers will get you through the days, but then you’ll need a solution so that you can charge up all your devices and those chargers at night, and you can’t really beat using a power strip like this one which will have you charging up to 7 devices at once. View on Amazon Shop this MultiCharger Multi-charger charger for MagicBand+ If you find bringing a power strip to be a little too much to fit in your suitcase, consider a muli-charger like this one! We love ours. It lets us charge up to 3 MagicBand+ and our phone at the same time, which is honestly all that we need when going to the parks. Yeah, you have to charge MagicBands now… View on Amazon Shop this Loungefly Organizer Loungefly Organizer We love taking our Loungefly backpacks on our trips to Disney World, but let’s be honest. The stuff we put in it can get lost like we put it in a much larger bag. So, take our advice. If you’re bringing your Loungefly, you should consider outfitting it with an organizer. They’ll save you so much stress and will keep all of your essentials perfectly organized. This one fits perfectly in our Loungefly, fits a ton of stuff, and is only $15! You can’t beat that. 24. If you’re hoping to explore the bayou with Tiana and her friends in Magic Kingdom this summer, you’ll want to keep on reading! Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom We’ve waited for what seems like FOREVER for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure to open at Disney World, and now, we’re ALMOST THERE. In June 2020, Disney announced that the water-based ride Splash Mountain would close to be rethemed into an attraction inspired by the Disney animated film, The Princess and the Frog. Disney has shared that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will pick up the story of The Princess and the Frog “after the final kiss, and join Princess Tiana and Louis on a musical adventure – featuring some of the powerful music from the film – as they prepare for their first-ever Mardi Gras performance.” Disney recently shared that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will officially open to all visitors on June 28th, 2024. Before that though, previews of the ride will be available for select groups of folks — including Annual Passholders! These will be taking place on June 13th, 14th, 16th, 17th, 18th, and 20th! Tiana’s Bayou Adventure So, Annual Passholders needed to make a park reservation at Magic Kingdom on one of the preview dates to have the opportunity to join the 7AM virtual queue. However, a lot of folks were pretty discouraged when Magic Kingdom park passes sold out in less than a day. Tiana’s testing In the past (with Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in EPCOT and TRON Lightcycle / Run in Magic Kingdom), a lack of park pass reservations meant that your chances of getting a preview of the ride or even a virtual queue were gone. You see, after the pandemic-related closures and up until January 9th, 2024, you could only park hop after 2PM. So, you weren’t able to have a chance at visiting another park and then hopping to Magic Kingdom to try for the 1PM virtual queue. BUT all-day park hopping is back, so you can hop into Magic whenever you want as long as the park hasn’t reached capacity. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Disney World This means that you can book reservations for another park on a preview date, park hop before 1PM, and then try to snag that 1PM Passholder Virtual Queue! And, if all else fails, we’re sure that the delayed gratification of waiting until it officially opens will be that much sweeter! The story of the attraction, as Disney shares, picks up during New Orleans’ Carnival season, and Tiana is hosting a Mardi Gras Party for the people of New Orleans — the community that has supported her successful restaurant. (The storyline is set about a year after the movie.) Tiana realized that the party is “missing a key ingredient” and she needs help finding it. YOU will join Tiana, too, as Disney Imagineers have shared that guests will be active participants coming along with Tiana on this adventure! “On Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, we’ll join Tiana and Louis on a trip to the bayou, where they meet all sorts of unexpected new friends who have a special role to play at the party.” EEP! We can’t wait! We’ll be at both the previews and the opening day, so we’ll be sure to bring you all you need to know to prepare for the adventure of your own!
