  1. Yesterday
  2. Well, it’s been another week of us eating our way around Disney World — do you blame us? We LIVE for Disney food. Spread from Regal Eagle We even reacquainted ourselves with Earl of Sandwich in Disney Springs this week, as well as checked out a new POG drink (YES, REALLY!!!). Now, we’re counting down until we can have beignets in Magic Kingdom again (and these look more like authentic New Orleans-style beignets, which is ALL we ever wanted). In the meantime, we’re going through all the menu changes we spotted in Disney World restaurants. So let’s see what changed at Disney World restaurants this week! EPCOT San Angel Inn Some cocktails changed at San Angel Inn: Black Magic description changed from “Created by Neil Patrick Harris. 3. Yes, we say it EVERY TIME we talk about this ride, but Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Disney World is “Almost There.” You’ll just have to forgive all our The Princess and the Frog references. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Now that we have an opening date for the ride, as well as dates for early previews, we just can’t contain our excitement, and we always have to “Dig a Little Deeper” (we did it again) to see if we can find any new updates over at the ride’s construction site in Magic Kingdom. Well, we’ve got some BIG Tiana’s Bayou Adventure updates to share with you! One of the first big details we noticed just recently was Lari’s house. Lari is the armadillo you’ll meet during the ride. We’ve already learned he’s a mischievous fellow, which makes him sound like a lot of fun. Here’s the door to his home, as well as his mailbox. Lari’s house Another sign — quite literally — that this ride is getting closer to opening is an actual sign warning you that there’s a “Fifty Foot Plunge Ahead!” The sign also has some simple boarding instructions along with another warning: “You may get wet.” You know what that means, right? Bring those ponchos! This is also, apparently, an exit if you change your mind about riding. You’re gonna get wet! We also ADORE this beautiful water lily embedded into the pavement here. It’s so pretty! Pretty detail in the pavement The queue also includes signs for a Farmer’s Market and Break Room. We assume these are for the folks who work for Tiana’s Foods. A sign for wheelchair users is here, too. Farmer’s Market and Break Room We also spotted a sign for a Children’s Garden. Tiana thought of EVERYTHING. The whole idea behind Tiana’s Foods is that it’s a cooperative effort with the whole community. Children’s Garden Some lanterns are set up on top of some crates in the queue — we wonder if these will be lit at night or if they’re just static props. Lanterns We’re so excited to see all these updates taking place at the ride. We can’t wait to get a chance to actually ride it, though. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure officially opens on June 28th. Stay tuned to DFB for more. FIRST LOOK at On-Ride Photo for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Disney World Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! Click here to Subscribe! 5. Choosing which Disney World hotel to stay at is no easy decision. Disney’s BoardWalk Inn There are 3 tiers of hotels to choose from: Value (most affordable), Moderate (in the middle), and Deluxe (the most expensive and therefore the fanciest). All of them have their own unique theming that may be more attractive to you and your family which could help you make your decision. However, even if you’re booking months in advance, here’s why you ALWAYS need a backup plan for your Disney World hotel. Let’s say you’ve been planning to splurge a stay at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge with a savanna view for YEARS. It’s a bucket list item, and you’ve finally planned the trip where you’re going to do it, but you go to book the room and there are no more available rooms for your dates. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Or how about this: you’ve been eying a specific discount on the Walt Disney World website for a while and think it’s perfect to help you save some money at that hotel you’ve been eying but has been out of your budget. So you go to book it and OH, just kidding, your hotel isn’t eligible for the deal, or you have to be staying a certain amount of days. Pop Century Hotel Or what about when you’ve budgeted to stay in a certain room, but when you go to book, prices are ASTRONOMICAL and not at all what you budgeted for? Polynesian Village Resort These are just a few of the most common heartbreaks we see and hear of happening constantly in Disney World. This is a busy vacation spot, and it’s almost impossible to gauge when your preferred rooms will be available or have a discount that can be applied to them. This precisely is why we say to always have a backup plan when it comes to booking the hotel on your Disney World vacation. Disney’s Yacht Club While nothing will be exactly like the hotel room you were looking to stay in, you can have two types of rooms in mind when you go to book. For example, if you’re looking to book at the Contemporary Resort, either have two room types in mind you’d like to book or be open to booking a similar hotel, such as the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. While some hotels don’t have an exact match when it comes to theming or vibes, below is a list of alternative hotels we suggest if you aren’t able to book at the one you were originally aiming for. Can’t book at All-Star Movies? Try All-Star Sports or All-Star Music instead (or vice versa), OR jump to Art of Animation or Pop Century. While Art of Animation and Pop Century have different theming, both are Value resorts with larger-than-life theming, and we do think they’re most alike each other. They are also both located at the same Skyliner station for easy access to Hollywood Studios and EPCOT. Can’t book at Disney’s Polynesian Resort? Check out a cabin at Disney’s Fort Wilderness or a room at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge for unique theming that’s geared toward the outdoors. Disney’s Yacht Club and Beach Club Resorts are right next to each other and share lots of amenities, so if one is not available, try the other. If you’re unable to book at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, the Yacht and Beach Club are resorts we recommend checking out instead. Plus, all three are within walking distance to EPCOT! Can’t book at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort? We suggest checking out Disney’s Riviera Resort, Port Orleans Riverside, OR Port Orleans French Quarter (or vice versa!) Disney’s BoardWalk Inn Additionally, if you need to stay at a different hotel than originally planned, there’s nothing stopping you from resort-hopping and checking out the other resorts you were planning to book. While you won’t be able to walk into any rooms or swim in the pools, you can still snap photos all around the hotels and take in their beauty! We always recommend booking your trip as far in advance as possible in an attempt to snag that room you’d like, and if a discount becomes available after you book, you can apply it to your existing reservation! If this all seems a little overwhelming, we totally get it — that’s why we recommend using a travel agent like our friends at Small World Vacations! 6. We get the appeal of Disney World’s value hotels, and it’s not just about the fact that these are the cheapest hotels on Disney World property. Disney’s Pop Century Resort For example, two value hotels actually have a Skyliner station, making transportation a lot more convenient. We also love the over-the-top theming at the value hotels — and we would argue that we sometimes think Disney World’s deluxe hotels are boring because they don’t have that theming. However, let’s talk about food. There’s a rule we need to tell you about when it comes to eating at Disney World’s value hotels. Disney’s value resorts only have one restaurant, a quick-service food court. Now, in the past, some of these food courts offered unique meals, but now, most of the food court menus are the same — and most of the menu items are, well, pretty boring (burgers, sandwiches, etc), maybe even mediocre. So here’s what we’re telling you: don’t eat in the value resort food courts unless you have to. Intermission Food Court Here’s the thing, especially if you’re staying at Disney’s Pop Century Resort or Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, you’re a quick Skyliner ride away from some AMAZING dining options. These include a TON of restaurants in the EPCOT area (like the Yachtsman Steakhouse, Trattoria al Forno, and more), but you can also have a meal over at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort or Disney’s Riviera Resort. Trattoria al Forno However, if you’re staying at any of Disney’s All-Star Resorts, you may find your options a little more limited. If you do want to eat something that isn’t at the food courts, you can always hop on a bus and head to Disney Springs, where the food options are almost limitless. Homecomin’ is one of many great restaurants in Disney Springs Okay, so what if you just really don’t want to leave your hotel at all, and you just want to grab something from the food court? What should you get? Well, for breakfast, you can still get Mickey waffles at the food courts, but we’d recommend grabbing the Loaded Totcho Bowl because it’s DELICIOUS. Loaded Totcho Bowl For lunch and dinner, there aren’t any REAL standouts, but at least the burgers at the food court come with Disney fries — if you know, you know (they’re a lot like McDonald’s fries). However, for snacks, you’re in luck. Many of the food courts have special snacks themed to that hotel. You’ll find themed cupcakes at each food court, but you’ll find Tie-Dye Cheesecake at Pop Century, and that’s always worth getting. Tie-dye Cheesecake You’ll also often find really good seasonal snacks (that aren’t always cupcakes), especially around holidays. So, if you see a seasonal snack on the menu, it might be worth trying out. Seasonal How Far I’ll Go Haupia Pie Of course, if you have picky eaters in your party, the food courts will always offer safe bets, including sandwiches, pizza, pasta, and more. So that’s always an option if you just want to please everyone in the party. Also, we have to note that you can get Mickey Celebration Cakes, too, at the food courts, in case you’re celebrating a big occasion. White Chocolate Celebration Cake Finally, food courts are where you can get the Refillable Mugs at the Value resorts. If you plan on drinking a lot of sodas, tea, or coffee during your trip, these could save you some $$$. They are also included with the Disney Dining Plan. Also, note that you can’t refill the mugs in the parks, but you can refill them at ALL Disney World hotels. However, just know that if you don’t want to eat at the value food courts, you do have TONS of other options. Stay tuned to DFB for more. 7. Gran Destino Tower at Disney’s Coronado Springs in Disney World has been open since 2019. Now, we know a lot of folks sleep on this hotel (and it does tend to attract the convention crowd), but we have to show off one of the rooms we recently stayed in because it might surprise you. Coronado Springs We got to spend some time in a Deluxe Club Suite room in the tower and let’s just say the experience was pretty amazing. These rooms are on the club level of the tower, meaning you get some perks like access to the exclusive concierge lounge, The Chronos Club. Now, we’ve previously told you all about The Chronos Club, so we’re going to give you a FULL room tour here instead. The Deluxe Suite sleeps up to four adults and features a king-size bed, as well as a queen-size pull-out sofa. The theming isn’t very “in your face” Disney, but more in line with the theming of the Coronado Springs Resort. The rooms are subtly decorated with pops of orange and red. There are shelves in the hallway with a few items you might need for your stay. You’ll also find a bin for recyclables. You can also see a nearby thermostat on the wall. Hallway shelving This is where you’ll find your ice bucket and cups… Ice bucket …as well as a Keurig coffee machine, K-Cups, sweeteners, creamers, and other drink items. Keurig Underneath is the mini-fridge. Mini fridge The living area is comfortable, with plenty of seating, a pull-out sofa, a television, some small tables, and a bench. Living area Here’s a look at the seating here from another angle — note the entrance into the bedroom. Comfy There’s a nook near the window with a table against the wall and a table and chairs beside it. And yes, that is a Hey, Disney! device along the wall. It’s like an Amazon Alexa device but with a little extra Disney magic. Table sitting area There’s also a window: our view was just the parking lot. Our view You’ll find a phone on the table against the wall, along with some drawers for additional storage. Phone and desk Here’s a closer look at our “Hey, Disney!” device on the other side of the desk, which acts as a personal voice assistant with lots of Disney knowledge. Hey, Disney The first bathroom is just a half bath (meaning there’s no shower), but features a pretty patterned wall, with a mirror, sink, under sink storage, a toilet, and a modern art piece on the wall. Disney fans may recognize that character — it is Dahlia from the 2003 animated short Destino. That short was made in collaboration with artist Salvador Dalí. Second bathroom Let’s check out the bedroom, which features a queen-size bed. The TV is across from the bed. Bedroom You’ve got a door with a full-length mirror, as well as some shelves for storage. This is also where you’ll find the room safe. Great use of space Move the sliding door, and you’ll find the closet. Closet Inside, you’ll find an extra pillow and blanket, hangers, a robe… Inside the closet …an ironing board, a luggage rack, and an iron. Everything you need The nightstand next to the bed has a phone, a lamp with outlets, and your TV remote. The nightstand also has drawers for storage. Nightstand You’ll get plenty of pillows on the bed. Bed You’ll find reading lights on each side of the bed. There’s also another nightstand on the left, near the window. Reading light The windows have sheer curtains as well as heavier black-out curtains. Curtains The main bathroom is huge. There’s a massive mirror in this room, too. Main bathroom By massive, we mean MASSIVE. There are two sinks, a magnifying mirror, a box of tissues, and storage underneath the sinks, including a space for extra towels. HUGE mirror Amenities include a vanity set, a shower cap, mouthwash, lotion, and more. Amenities Soap is also provided. Soap This room features towels, a trash can, a separate toilet, and a shower. Another angle The toilet room has some pretty art in it. This is pretty much a good representation of the kind of artwork you’ll find on the walls. Toilet Here’s a look at the shower, which has a static showerhead plus a handheld showerhead. Shower Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are in dispensers on the wall. Amenities If you think a Deluxe Club Suite could be right for you, you’ll find a comfortable spacious room plus access to The Chronos Club (which will get you free snacks and drinks). A weeklong stay in June for two adults and one child is currently around $845.50 per night, but prices can change depending on the date and size of your group. Stay tuned to DFB for more. 9. Is there any bar more iconic than Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar? Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar We’ve been to pretty much every bar all over Disneyland, and although some remain popular, like Oga’s Cantina in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland, as well as the Carthay Circle Lounge and Lamplight Lounge in California Adventure, we’ll still go to Trader Sam’s at the Disneyland Hotel every chance we get. So when we learned that Trader Sam’s was getting a new menu (because, hey, the food is good here, too!), we jumped at the opportunity to revisit our favorite Disneyland bar. Atmosphere You’ll find Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar at the Disneyland Hotel. As the name suggests, the theme is based on Trader Sam from the Jungle Cruise. You can make reservations, but they’re hard to get. But there’s also a Walk-up Waitlist (which is what we used). Note that the wait is usually a long one, though. When we visited, we were told the wait was 45 minutes to an hour, but it was actually only about 35 minutes when we received a text that our table was ready. There it is! Inside the bar, you’ll find a theme that is a mix between The Enchanted Tiki Room and the Jungle Cruise, with a few other additional Disney nods. The bar In fact, you’ll want to order drinks inside because not only do some drinks come in fun souvenir cups, but they also trigger certain Easter eggs inside the bar when ordered. For example, if you order the Uh-Oa drink, the Cast Members will start chanting and you’ll see storm effects in the bar. VERY cool. Note: it can get pretty noisy inside the bar. Inside However, the interior of Trader Sam’s isn’t huge, so you’ll find more seating outside surrounded by loads of greenery. This area is covered, so you’ll have plenty of shade. The noise level here is a lot lower than inside, so depending on what you’re in the mood for, ask for it. We sat outdoors for this particular visit. It’s more relaxed to sit outside Seating includes booths, as well as tables with chairs. Seating Seriously, this place is 10/10 on the theming. But what about the food? Eats The food here has a tropical vibe,… Island Bites …and the drinks are, well, they are ON POINT. We didn’t order anything this trip, but there are a lot of fun cocktails on the menu. As we previously mentioned, you can order some of these with a souvenir tiki mug. Fun drinks We started with the Tempura-Battered Green Beans served with Togarashi Aïoli for $15. This is an appetizer that’s been around for a while, but they’ve changed! Instead of just regular fried beans, you now get beans that have been dipped in a tempura batter. This does mean you get a different kind of texture, though. We think the tempura doesn’t give an even enough coating, but it’s not a deal breaker. Tempura-Battered Green Beans The Togarashi Aïoli has not changed — it’s still tangy and delicious and acts as the perfect accompaniment to the green beans. This SAUCE We also ordered the Swaying Palms Salad with Teriyaki Chicken. For $19, you get a salad made with Teriyaki Chicken, Spicy Mizuna & Mache Greens, Charred Hearts of Palm, Cucumber, Cashews, Julienne Peppers, Carrots, Snow Peas, and Puffed Rice Noodles, served with Sesame Vinaigrette. This salad is a sleeper hit! We loved all the toppings hidden under the puffed rice noodles. Swaying Palms Salad with Teriyaki Chicken Every ingredient in the salad is fresh. The Sesame Vinaigrette is light, but full of flavor. We loved all the veggies on it, too. There was also plenty of chicken. We really liked the crunchy giant cashews — lots of great texture in this salad! There is also a plant-based version of this salad without the chicken that is available. So many great textures and flavors Then we dug into the Spiced Dry Rub Chicken Wings for $24. These are Shichimi-spiced Dry-rub Chicken Wings served with Togarashi Aïoli. There’s a nice coating of the rub on these, giving them a hint of spice, but we’d say they’re milder than a lot of wings we’ve had. Spiced Dry Rub Chicken Wings They are nice and crispy on the outside and tender on the inside (like falling off the bone). The sauce is that same Togarashi Aïoli you get with the green beans. We just need this to be bottled up and sold so we can take it home and dip ALL the things in it. SO good You know us, if something is called “poutine,” we’re going to order it, so it was a no-brainer to try out the new Kālua-style Pork Nacho Poutine for $25. It’s made with Sweet Potato Fries, Togarashi Aïoli, Cotija Cheese, Cheese Sauce, Pickled Red Onion, Lime Crema, and Cilantro. Sweet potato fries for poutine? Okay, Disney, you have our attention. Yes, the plate looks like a mess, but looks can be deceiving. Kālua-style Pork Nacho Poutine We’re happy to report this poutine lived up to the hype. You get a lot of EVERYTHING, including lots of tender pulled pork and TONS of toppings. The cheese sauce is so creamy. Also, for those who are concerned about cilantro: it’s not an overpowering flavor. It’s very light. So maybe this plate looks like a mess, but don’t let that stop you from trying it, because it’s delicious! You had us at poutine The Wagyu Hawaiian Cheeseburger is $26 and is stacked with Grilled Pineapple, Applewood-smoked Bacon, Havarti, and Sweet-and-Spicy Spread, it comes with a choice of Sweet Potato Fries or French Fries. We went with French Fries. This burger is GIGANTIC, and the patty is super thick and juicy. Wagyu Hawaiian Cheeseburger All the produce on this burger is also really fresh and we loved the sweet pineapple with the salty bacon (which was cooked perfectly). The fries were a good choice because they are soft like steak fries on the inside, but crispy on the outside. YUM. Note you can also get this with an Impossible patty. Great toppings So all that’s left is dessert. We had to try the new Pineapple Bundt Cake for $15. It’s served with whipped cream and candied pineapple. We would literally come back here JUST for this alone — it’s even worth the wait of getting into the bar. Pineapple Bundt Cake The cake is moist with a lovely creamy center and the lightness of the whipped cream really adds a nice element to it all. The candied pineapple just makes it that much more amazing. So moist and creamy If you love pineapple, this should be your new favorite treat. Currently, this is the only dessert option available here. Nosh or Not Head to Trader Sam’s if… You’re a sucker for good theming, especially if you love Jungle Cruise and The Enchanted Tiki Room You want fun drink options and souvenir cups You want good food away from the parks Skip Trader Sam’s if… You can’t get an advance dining reservation and you don’t want to wait You want more dessert options You have kids in your party Overall Overall, Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar has a great atmosphere, food, and drinks, but even if you don’t want to be in a noisy bar, there are options to sit outside away from the excitement. We may not have previously come here just for the food, but these new menu options could very well have us coming back for them. This menu has a lot of variety now, so there’s plenty to choose from. If anything, this is certainly a place to visit if you’ve never been there. Stay tuned to DFB for more reviews! 10. OK, you might have questions. WHY are people bringing an extension cord to Disney World? Don’t worry, we’ve got answers! Walt Disney World Packing for Disney World can be a complicated affair. The weather in Orlando is sometimes unpredictable, so packing layers and a raincoat (DEFINITELY a raincoat) is essential. You’ll also need ALL the sunscreen. And don’t forget the reusable straws so you don’t have to use those paper ones in the parks. While you’re at it, make sure you pack at least one extension cord. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. OK, time to explain this whole extension cord business. Trust Us, You Need This Extension Cord (and It’s 31% Off!) So here’s the thing. Disney World hotel rooms do have a few outlets in each room, usually including one on either side of each bed. However, those outlets may not have enough plug spots for all of the electronics you need to charge, especially if your hotel room is full to capacity and multiple people have multiple devices to charge. Table with outlets If you need to charge your phone, MagicBand+, headphones, laptop, and smart watch, you’re going to need a LOT more outlet spaces. That’s why we recommend bringing this power strip with you! ©Amazon This power strip has seven ports, including three outlets, two USB-A spots, and two USB-C spots, so you can charge lots of devices at once. ©Amazon One of its coolest features, though, is the flat plug! Whether you need to access a hard-to-get-to outlet in Disney World or want to use this power strip at home but not have it stick out too far and waste space, that flat plug could come in handy (and it’s much more aesthetically pleasing than a normal plug). ©Amazon Most people don’t think to toss an extension cord into their suitcase when they’re packing for Disney World, but trust us when we say you’ll be glad if you do! You can get this fancy power strip for 31% off on Amazon right now, so hurry to grab one before the deal ends! 12. Sometimes it can feel like the best days at Disney World were in the past. Shipping & Package Pickup Sign Was it the classic rides, the magical characters, and the dining experiences that made our Disney World trips unforgettable? And what about the perks that used to be normal at Disney World in the past that have vanished without a trace? To that point, we wanted to get your thoughts on whether or not a specific Disney World hotel perk would return this year! We reached out to our followers on Facebook to ask: “Do you think package delivery will return to Disney World in 2024?” We had quite a few people leave their opinions in the comments! What do you think? Now, let’s dive into your responses! Hope It Will Return The vast majority of you are holding out hope for the eventual return of package delivery. (About 60% of you responded this way) Here’s what you said: “I hope so. At least have it at the gates. There’s a lot I didn’t buy because I didn’t want to carry it around the park.” “I hope so. I think that was a real nice perk for guests not having to worry about carrying bags around during their time in the parks. I would guess that, if they did bring this back, sales would go up. It’s a win-win for everyone!” “I hope so but on the other hand, I’m saving thousands because I don’t want to carry everything with me. We both lose. ” “Ooh, I hope so. I mean, they want us to buy the big stuff, so it would make sense. If I have to carry it around myself, I might tell myself I will buy it on the way out … But I am not going to do that. By that time, the impulse is gone and logic may have set in.” Crocs We’re right with you. We wish it would come back because if it did, it would make carrying souvenirs around the parks so much easier. I mean, do we really want to carry a huge plush or lightsaber around all day? Doubt It Will Ever Come Back However, a significant number of you are understandably skeptical about package delivery ever returning. (About 25% of you responded this way) Let’s have a look at your responses: “I would love to see at least front of park pickup return! I somehow doubt it though. My wallet thanks them . Just don’t want to carry it around so we don’t buy much” “I doubt it. It was one of those little luxuries we used to get, like slow times at the parks. All gone for good. ” “Nope. I just don’t see the need. The direct ship from store is used by most who fly. It is dirt cheap and includes insurance. Also, Almost everything can be bought at Disney Springs. Plus resellers already abuse the limit two. with things going to the front of park they would be the only winners. I have seen folks get limited lightsabers walk to the car and walk right back in for 2 more. Just hitting up a different cast member.” “Nope. It’s too costly considering the payroll and cost of vehicles to transport the items. Disney will continue to offer ship-to-home as that costs them nothing. The guest pays all shipping costs.” “It’s A Small World” merch collection While we want it to come back, we definitely understand why many of you doubt it ever will. In the current climate where companies are doing everything they can to cut costs, it’s hard to imagine that they would ever bring a service like this back, especially if they have to pay for it. Ship To Home Alternatively, some of you have already adapted to the situation and have been using the ship-to-home service. (About 15% of you responded this way) Let’s have a look at one of your responses: “I started using ship to home when they stopped package delivery. Made it easier to pack for going home!” “same! we try to buy all of our things at world of Disney and the shop in the middle of Epcot and then ship it all home.” No judgment from us because shipping your souvenirs home just makes so much sense. You can get your items mailed directly to your home! Those were just some of your thoughts on whether or not a specific Disney World hotel perk would return this year, and we’d love to hear from you! 13. Going to Disney World is like going home for us. Magic Kingdom Stepping foot into the parks feels like we’re back exactly where we’re supposed to be. But when it’s time for your trip to end, it can feel like being back in your real house can never be the same again. But don’t worry! We love to bring you tips and tricks to make it feel like you have the parks right in your very own living room. That’s why a new update to one of our favorite Disney games is possibly our favorite yet — they’ve brought the parks into our homes! Have you heard of the game Disney Dreamlight Valley? If not, it’s a game you should get familiar with if you’re a Disney fan. The game can be played on several consoles including Xbox, Playstation, PC, and more. ©Disney Now, I’m going to be frank with you, I have never been into video games. Ever. I played Mario Cart and that was about it. Until I saw Disney Dreamlight Valley come out. My husband, an avid gamer, saw this game get announced a couple of years ago and knew that I needed to try it. And y’all, I’ve been HOOKED since. ©Disney As a huge Disney nerd, I love that this game gives me a chance to interact with my favorite Disney characters in an original way. The game holds true to the classic Disney theming of good vs. evil, light vs. dark, and there are fun side-quests you can do when you need a break from the main storyline. ©Disney Slowly, the game creators have begun integrating the Disney parks into it. At first, we got the characters and their houses — classic IP, but no parks. Then, during seasonal Star Paths (side quests to earn rewards), a few park details began showing up such as the “Partners” statue of Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse. Finally, I was able to acquire a few park rides to place around my village. I now have the Tower of Terror, Mad Tea Party, Pixar Pal-a-Round, and Dumbo the Flying Elephant. Each of these rides plays the music from the ride when you get near it. It was so fun to incorporate into my gaming world! ©Disney The only “problem” with these first few rides was that you could turn them on and off (so they moved or didn’t move), but you couldn’t actually ride them. But now, Disney Dreamlight Valley has come out with their latest update (Thrills & Frills) that lets you do just that — RIDE THE RIDES! ©Disney In the latest free update, new rides are now available as part of the Star Path or Premium Shop (where you can pay to buy the rides instead of earning them through a series of tasks). The new rides include Alien Swirling Saucers, Magic Carpets of Aladdin, Slinky Dog Zigzag Spin, and Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind. Plus, you can interact with the rides to ride them from a first-person POV and even take a selfie of yourself on the ride! ©Disney Y’all, I’m freaking out! We can ride Disney rides in the comfort of our own homes without paying for a park ticket! Since there is now a multiplayer feature in the game, you can even invite your friends over to your village to ride your rides, and then head to their village to ride theirs. How cool is that! ©Disney The new update also brings Daisy Duck to the game (FINALLY! Donald has probably been worried sick.)! Once you unlock Daisy, you’ll also get a new boutique where you can share your custom outfits that you can make with the Touch of Magic tool. ©Disney And of course, a new animal companion has come with this update — Peppy Popcorn Squirrel! The squirrel commemorates the delicious in-park snack that we all love with a red and white popcorn vendor jacket, matching hat, and a popcorn bucket on its back. ©Disney Disney also mentioned to be on the lookout on the game’s social media for an upcoming in-game special event announcement coming soon. 14. There are few things more magical than seeing a parade on Main Street U.S.A. Ariel in the Festival of Fantasy Parade at Magic Kingdom Whether it’s a holiday parade at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party or Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, or you’re watching a daytime Rainy Day Parade or, one of our favorites, Festival of Fantasy, it’s a beautiful moment. If you’re heading to Disney World soon and plan on catching this parade in Magic Kingdom, you need to know that its showtimes are changing! On May 26th, Festival of Fantasy will be changing from just having one showtime per day, to having TWO shows a day! Festival of Fantasy Parade These two showings will take place at 12PM ET and 3PM ET daily instead of just the 3PM show schedule, which has been the case for the past few weeks. ©Disney Now what happens if one of the parades is rained out? Well, if it’s safe for any parade to occur (aka no massive wind storm and/or lightning all over the place) you’ll likely see an abridged version of the parade, which is called a Rainy Day Parade! You’ll still be able to wave hello to some of your favorite characters from smaller floats/vehicles, since the larger floats often aren’t safe to drive in rainy conditions. 15. While we love eating in the Disney World parks, there are tons of incredible dining options at Disney World hotels too! Roaring Fork Over at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, you’ll find Roaring Fork, a quick-service restaurant home to lots of hearty offerings. You’ll find a variety of hearty entrees and counter service basics (along with grab-and-go options) for breakfast, lunch, and dinner in a serene atmosphere, with seating both indoors and out. We heard there were some new sandwiches available on the menu, so you know we had to head over and try them! We grabbed three new sandwiches at this location, all of them very different from each other, which makes them great for a variety of different palates. Our first bite was of the Focaccia Caprese for $9.49. It’s made with fresh mozzarella, tomato, basil aïoli, and a balsamic reduction on fresh focaccia bread. The smoked sausage is one of the best we’ve had in Disney World! It’s juicy and the casing has a good snap as you bite into it. The onions and peppers are well cooked — they still have a bit of bite left, and it doesn’t feel like they have the mushy texture you sometimes get when they’ve been hanging out in a warmer all day. We loved the flavor they provided! Smoked Sausage The roll is where this sandwich is lacking, unfortunately — it’s sturdy enough to hold the heavy ingredients, but there’s too much of it. There’s more bread than toppings on this sandwich, and that ratio makes the bread too dry. We recommend adding mustard or another condiment of your choice to fix this problem! The sausage itself is great! Overall, we enjoyed the Focaccia Caprese the most, but think all three of these are solid new options! All of these are available on mobile order, which makes them even easier to grab on the go. Wilderness Lodge might be out of the way, but we’re happy we made the trek to try these! 16. Sure, Disneyland has a ton of fun rides, great entertainment (have you SEEN the Magic Happens parade?), and fun seasonal events (we are currently OBSESSED with Pixar Fest), but it also has some pretty amazing character meet and greets. Mirabel at Disneyland As Disney World folks, we’re also often jealous of the meet and greets that come to Disneyland. Did you know you can meet OSWALD in Disneyland? Plus, there are so many fun limited-time meet and greets like Mei Lee and her mom, Ming Lei, from Turning Red. It looks like another ICONIC character duo could be coming to Disneyland soon. If you’ve visited Disneyland recently, you may have had an opportunity to meet Mirabel from Encanto at Disney California Adventure. You may have even had a chance to speak with Bruno (and maybe even ask him about his rats) during the 2022 or 2023 Oogie Boogie Bash. Well, two more characters from the Madrigal family could be headed to Disneyland soon. Bruno at Disneyland A Disney audition notice has been posted for Isabela and Luisa! The audition notice is for “Character Look-Alike roles of ISABELA and LUISA, to be portrayed at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, CA.” The notice says that these characters will appear to greet guests, sign autographs, pose for photos, and more. ©Disney One thing to note is that the audition notice says that the roles are seasonal ONLY, so our closest guess is that we’ll see these characters pop up during Disneyland’s Hispanic and Latin American Heritage, which usually runs from mid-September through October. Sleeping Beauty Castle We’ll be keeping an eye out for an official announcement from Disney about these characters and when they’ll be appearing in the park, so stay tuned to DFB for more. 17. We recently got a first look at the massive Fantasy Springs expansion at Tokyo Disney Sea at Tokyo Disney Resort. Frozen Kingdom at Tokyo DisneySea To say we were FLOORED by how amazing each land was and how we loved the rides (especially Anna & Elsa’s Frozen Adventure) is an understatement. We also learned a lot more about how this expansion was put together and how Disney Imagineers ultimately decided what would and wouldn’t go into these new lands. When we attended a media preview for Fantasy Springs, we had an opportunity to chat with Disney Imagineers Daniel Jue and Emily “Emo” O’Brien and we learned about some of the things that were originally being planned for the Fantasy Springs expansion. Peter Pan’s Never Land Each land is considered a “port” in Fantasy Springs, and one of the ports being considered was a Northern Europe or Scandinavia port, which seems like it would have been Frozen Kingdom plus more Nordic stories. However, the idea was a little TOO big for the space they were working with, so it was shuttered. Frozen Kingdom, though, is so immersive that it seems like just focusing on that was the way to go. Anna and Elsa’s Frozen Journey Imagineers also thought of an Arctic Port, and although we didn’t get specifics, we may be wondering if we missed out on having some polar bears incorporated into the park in some way. Oh, well, missed opportunity, right? Maybe a whole land based on The Santa Clauses? (Call us, Disney, we’ve got ideas). ©Disney Imagineers also had a different initial idea for Peter Pan’s Never Land Adventure. The ride Imagineers went with is a 3D dark ride that uses effects and 3D to create a super-immersive experience. However, Imagineers originally considered many options for the ride in Peter Pan’s Never Land: a suspended ride, a boat ride, a simulator, or even a coaster. But in the end, the ride system they went with, a boat ride, was driven by the story Imagineers wanted to tell. Imagineers wanted the ride vehicle to enhance the storytelling and not draw attention to itself. In this ride, the boat acts as a camera. Peter Pan’s Never Land Adventure One thing we found interesting is that Tokyo Disney Resort does things a little differently from what we see in the U.S. parks. First, Imagineers worked closely with Japanese Partners, Oriental Land Company, who own the resort. Oriental Land Company might own and operate the parks, but Walt Disney Imagineering designs what goes into the parks while a Japan Disney team overseas operations. It’s a partnership that’s allowed something like Fantasy Springs to come to life. Rapunzel’s Lantern Festival We also learned that Tokyo Disney Resort visitors tend to be less about escapism and more about allowing people to be a little more open in a society that is more restrictive than what we’re used to in the U.S. So Tokyo Disney Resort should be an acceptable place to express yourself in a culture where the goal may be to blend in. Understanding these cultural nuances and getting feedback from the teams in Japan helped Imagineers during the design process. Fantasy Springs Hotel room It’s still interesting, though, to learn more about what early concepts Imagineers had in mind when the expansion was first announced. We’ll have to say that the entire project came together in such a perfect way, and we’re hoping that maybe some of these concepts make their way to the U.S. parks (we need Frozen Ever After in EPCOT updated now, yes, please, and thank you, and please put an actual Tangled land somewhere because all we’ve got are bathrooms!). 18. Back in April, it was announced that Disneyland character performers would vote to unionize. Bing Bong! The group, calling themselves ‘Magic United,’ planned to represent entertainment cast members to include theatrical performers, parade performers, character performers, and hosts, leads, and trainers that support the entertainment department, as well. Now, the official vote has taken place to determine if this unionization would occur, and we have the results. According to NPR, the vote ended on Saturday, May 18th with an overwhelming majority voting to unionize. Out of around 1,700 employees, 953 voted YES, and 258 voted NO. Indiana Jones in Adventureland These performers will now officially be recognized by the Actors’ Equity Association, which also represents performers and stage managers at Disney World, on Broadway, and in many more live theater productions across the nation. Galaxy’s Edge Meet and Greet with Mandalorian and Grogu This movement towards unionizing was born out of concerns stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic, such as sharing costumes and being in close contact with guests. The Cast Members have been seeking better “health and safety standards, flexible paid time off, fair schedules, job security, and greater involvement in workplace discussions, as well as higher wages.” Further, Cast Members have described getting into costume as “putting their arms into fiberglass.” Others deal with dangerous conditions from overexertion and working in the heat. By being represented by the union, performers will now be able to work towards the goals and work conditions they’ve been seeking. Mirabel at Disneyland In a response statement, Disneyland confirmed that non-union employees do receive yearly raises and paid sick leave in ways that align with industry standards, but also said they “support our cast members’ right to a confidential vote that recognizes their individual choices.” Barley and Ian at Pixar Fest As long as no election challenges take place, the regional director of the National Labor Relations Board will certify the results within a week, according to NBC. 19. Who’s ready to go on an adventure? Magic Kingdom Every day in Disney World is quite an adventure, and we are there EVERY day, so we know our way around the parks. That’s also how we find the best advice to give you — from what we’re seeing and experiencing firsthand! But today, we decided to do something a little different in the name of science. We asked Disney A.I. how we should spend our day in Magic Kingdom to see if it would benefit your trip, and what we found was not what we expected! We talk a lot about Disney Genie+, the paid skip-the-line service that can be used in Disney World. With that service, you can book times to enter the “Lightning Lane” at many rides and attractions around Disney World — and hopefully that results in a shorter wait. However, there’s also just Disney Genie, which is a FREE service to help you plan your day in the parks. And yes, it’s an example of Disney using artifical intelligence! ©Disney You’ll find Disney Genie in the Disney World app. The first step to using this free service is to put your interests in! Do you want to meet as many characters as possible? Or maybe you want to ride everything you can! Disney Genie will take this into account as it plans your day. For our experiment, we put in that we were interested in a variety of attractions, some character, and quick service dining, but did say no to table service dining. Disney Genie also let us know about the TRON Lightcycle / Run virtual queue and was more than ready to help us book our spot! ©Disney And before we knew it, we had our perfect plan for the day, according to Disney Genie! Each attraction and experience was listed with the time it was recommended we head to the attraction, and how long it was expected to take. We could also press a button to read more about why Disney Genie was suggesting it for us at that time. ©Disney We were quite surprised to see it recommended we experience Peter Pan’s Flight first at a 45-minute wait, since that’s not typically what WE would recommend at 10AM. Especially since many other rides throughout the park were listed at only 15 and 20-minute waits. (Note: Later in the day, it jumped up to 65 minutes, so this was actually a pretty good recommendation!) ©Disney We were interested to find that the virtual assistant recommended we dine at Be Our Guest Restaurant, even though we had indicated we were only interested in quick-service dining. Be Our Guest Restaurant As we made our way over to the restaurant, Disney Genie seemed to remember that we did not want to dine at table service restaurants and redirected us to dine at Columbia Harbor House a little later (no complaints here!). This is where things got really interesting. Since we had a little bit of time until it was recommended we eat at Columbia Harbor House, Disney Genie suggested we hop in line to meet Tiana, who was at a 50-minute wait, even though Cinderella right next door was only a 25-minute wait. ©Disney However, it seems like Disney Genie knew something we didn’t because the wait for Tiana was only 19 minutes! Princess Tiana From there we headed to eat, and after we placed our mobile order, it automatically updated our itinerary, and we could check the status of our order whenever we wanted! ©Disney After we ate our lunch, we started to head over to Under the Sea Journey of The Little Mermaid as Disney Genie suggested, but on our way over there our itinerary changed, and we were advised to meet Ariel instead! This was a common occurrence throughout the day – Disney Genie would suggest one thing, and then change the itinerary as we were already on our way to the attraction. ©Disney Our next suggestion was to head over to “it’s a small world”, even though the posted wait time was 30 minutes and there were plenty of other rides in the park that were much less. “it’s a small world” At this point, Disney Genie wanted to ensure that we knew we were eligible to buy an Individual Lightning Lane for TRON Lightcycle / Run, or that we could join the virtual queue. Even though it was 1:16PM and the second virtual queue drops at 1PM for TRON, we were still able to snag a spot! ©Disney The remainder of our day and the recommendations Disney Genie was making for us continued in this very similar way – we were being led towards certain attractions, only to have the recommendation changed as we were on our way over there, but it did continue to update throughout the day to give us what it thought was the best recommendation. In a way, this was good to see, because things change in Disney World so frequently, even minute by minute, so to see that this service can keep up with those changes gives it a point in our book! ©Disney Overall, we think this service can be beneficial to people who are going into Disney World completely blind (which is never something we recommend). It did a decent job at taking our interests into account and making sure we were having the best day possible, however, nothing will beat having real people give you their experiences, which is exactly what we do here at DFB. Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom While we can’t give you minute-by-minute updates every single day we’re in the parks, our reporters work extremely hard to give our writers and editors any and all vital information the moment they see it, and then our writing and editing team gets it up to you as soon as possible. 21. Disney’s Yacht Club is a deluxe resort located near EPCOT that draws in hundreds of visitors every year. Disney’s Yacht Club We love the New England style of this hotel, and it’s especially beloved by those who don’t want tons of Disney theming in their rooms while they stay on property. However, if you’re planning a trip for 2025, this may NOT be the resort you want to book. The truth of the matter is that Yacht Club is going to be undergoing some MASSIVE renovations in the beginning half of 2025. On the Disney World website, a banner warns guests that some guest rooms at the hotel will be undergoing refurbishment from January-May 2025. ©Disney It’s unclear at this time if the rooms are being reimagined, just getting a touch up, or what exactly is going on, but this means guests may hear construction going on during daytime hours, and some amenities may be unavailable. Yacht Club Not only that, but the hotel’s main pool, Stormalong Bay and Shipwreck Pool, which are shared by Disney’s Beach Club Resort and are guest-favorite pools among ALL the Disney World hotel pools on property, will be closed for refurbishment January through June 2025. ©Disney There are other pools available at the hotel, the Tidal, Admiral, and Dunes Cove leisure pools, but they don’t hold a candle to the exciting theming of Stormalong Bay. This means that if you’re staying at this deluxe resort, which isn’t a cheap stay by any means, you may be hearing construction noise in TWO areas during your stay, and you/your kids won’t get to experience the epicness of Stormalong Bay. Stormalong Bay However, there could be a few perks to staying at this hotel during all this construction. If you and your family aren’t planning on staying much in the room at all and are spending all day in the parks, it’s likely that this construction won’t bother you! Now, we don’t normally recommend NOT taking a resort day when you’re paying to stay at a deluxe resort, but it’s also possible we may see some lower room rates due to this construction. Yacht Club beach This would mean staying at this deluxe resort may become more affordable, making a stay without a resort day more worth it. It also may be a good fit still for a group of adults taking a trip together, because those leisure pools may be just what you’re looking for (just be warned that there may be more kids than usual since the main “fun” pool is closed). Yacht Club But, if you’re wondering where to stay instead, we have a couple of options for you. If you love Yacht Club because of its subtle theming and upscale hotel feel, you should check out the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin hotels. These hotels have an upscale resort feel but no over-the-top Disney theming. The Swan Reserve Hotel They are owned by Marriott, and you can earn (and use!) your Marriott Bonvoy points here. But unlike other hotels near Disney World run by global hotel chains that are still miles away from the parks, the Swan and Dolphin are just steps away from EPCOT — just like the Yacht Club. Speaking of location, if you love the Yacht Club because it’s so close to EPCOT, another resort to check out is the BoardWalk Inn. Disney’s BoardWalk Inn It’s just across Crescent Lake from the Yacht Club, and an easy walk to EPCOT’s International Gateway entrance. Disney’s BoardWalk And if it’s an amazing pool that drew you to the Yacht Club, then we recommend changing your stay to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort for the Lava Pool experience. Lava Pool Yep, that’s a huge “volcano” with a 142-foot-long waterslide! Plus this pool offers Cinderella Castle views…and there’s DOLE WHIP just steps away at Pineapple Lanai. Overall, it’s up to you and your group to decide if this hotel is still right for your trip amid all the construction. 22. People love to argue that EPCOT is THE Disney World park for foodies, and with dozens of restaurants, they may be right! EPCOT When you step into the Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow, you have your choice of cuisine from countries around the world, in snack, quick service, or sit-down restaurant form — you could try an entire smorgasbord of international eats. But should you choose an AMERICAN restaurant instead? Let’s find out — I’m taking you along on my latest dining review! Atmosphere Regal Eagle Smokehouse: Craft Drafts & Barbecue is located in the American Adventure Pavilion — where Liberty Inn used to live in the days of yore. Let’s gooooo! The restaurant has a low-key Muppets theme, with the beloved Sam Eagle as the mascot! You can spot him on the mural just inside the restaurant entrance. We love a photo spot In fact, Sam Eagle is hosting a barbecue competition! Four teams are competing in the barbecue-off, each with a Muppet mascot and a signature barbecue sauce. There’s the Old Glory Mustard Guild, represented by Gonzo… The sauce accolades …the Sizzlin’ Pit Dry Rub Coalition, represented by Rowlf… Sizzlin’ Pit …the Blue Ridge Vinegar League, with Janice as its leader… So many little details! …and finally the Blue Ribbon Brisket Society with Bobo the Bear. Each participant has their own section on the wall to display their awards, accolades, and ingredients. The theming is great To order your food or pick up your Mobile Order, you’ll head to the back of the restaurant, where there are several counters and cash registers. Ordering area The drink stations at Regal Eagle are self-serve, which means you can snag those refills! We love a good drink hack. Drink station And since the restrooms are located outside the restaurant, there’s a handwashing station INSIDE the dining room to get you squeaky clean before you eat. Hand washing station Of course, one of the big highlights of Regal Eagle is trying all the sauces! You can get ketchup, Classic Smokehouse Sauce, Savory Spice Sauce… SAUCE …Vinegar Base Sauce, and Sweet Mustard Sauce. (Don’t worry, I’ll be sharing my thoughts on each!) SAUCE AGAIN There are spaces to dine both indoors and outdoors here, but I advise sitting indoors if possible because there are LOTS of birds outside who like to steal food. Dining room Now let’s dive into the menu! Menu As you may have guessed based on the name, Regal Eagle serves barbecue! (What?! I know, SHOCKING!) The main entrees include ribs, smoked chicken, a BBQ Burger, a brisket sandwich, a pulled pork platter, and then basics like a cheeseburger or salads. ©Disney If you’re a plant-based eater, they have a BBQ Jackfruit Burger. Regal Eagle is also known for having some pretty delicious sides, which include baked beans, coleslaw, seasoned fries, onion rings, pickles, and macaroni & cheese. ©Disney For kids, they have options like a cheeseburger or a salad with chicken, as well as chicken strips or macaroni & cheese. ©Disney And of course, we’ve got to round it out with dessert! You’ll find barbecue staples like banana pudding, fresh watermelon, or a s’mores brownie. ©Disney Eats I ordered a decent spread with a variety of items from the menu, so let’s dig in and taste it all! Time to determine if the American eats are really worth skipping all those international goodies for. Full spread Starting with my drink, I ordered the Berry Punch for $5.29. It’s white grape juice with strawberry, peach, and blackberry flavors. They fill it with more of a frosted ice than regular cubes, which gives it somewhat of a slushy vibe. This was incredibly fruity with kind of an indistinct “berry” flavor — I couldn’t really tell that it was blackberry, but I got a hint of strawberry. It was quite refreshing and not too sweet, so it’d be a great drink in the summertime. Berry Punch The first meal I tried was the Kids Meal Macaroni & Cheese for $6.99, which is honestly a STEAL. For less than $7, you get house-made oven-baked macaroni & white cheddar cheese, two sides, and a small beverage. I got the watermelon and the coleslaw. Macaroni and Cheese Kids Meal The mac & cheese was definitely the highlight here! It was creamy and deliciously cheesy with a strong white cheddar flavor. The cellentani pasta (which has kind of a corkscrew shape) was great for holding the sauce and keeping the breadcrumbs and seasoning attached. Mac and Cheese The noodles were soft, and the breadcrumbs helped vary the texture. It was also nicely salted, which is always a plus. I pretty much have zero negative notes for this mac & cheese. This is probably one of our favorite kid’s meals in Disney World — it’s a large portion and delicious. AJ sauce hack — try the garlic aioli with the mac & cheese! So cheesy! The watermelon is sliced thin and fairly basic. It was well-chosen, as it was sweet and very red in the middle. They gave me seedless slices (with no black seeds, just the underdeveloped white ones), so that would be easier for kiddos to eat. Watermelon The coleslaw was probably my least favorite part of this kid’s meal, so I would likely choose a different side next time. The slaw was pretty mayo-heavy and quite crunchy, with a lot of black pepper. Coleslaw But alas, we cannot simply survive on kids’ meals, so onto the adults’ menu we go! My next dish was the BBQ Burger for $14.79. This is a 1/3 lb. Angus burger on garlic toast, topped with BBQ pork, lettuce, tomato, garlic aioli, and a fried onion ring. You get a choice of one side, and I ordered the seasoned fries. BBQ Burger The burger was a little bit of a letdown for me. The onion ring on top was nice and crispy, but then the onion inside was rather mushy. When you get to the actual burger, it has a heavy meat flavor with some brightness from the tomato and lettuce, but the burger patty was under-seasoned and fairly dry. The pulled pork was also pretty dry, and I ended up enjoying the sandwich better when I added some sauce to it. There’s not a lot of the aioli. The Texas toast was a fun concept, and the bread was buttery and soft, but it did get a little bit smushed from the weight of the burger. Inside the burger However, the fries I got on the side were top-notch! Here at Regal Eagle, they serve seasoned fries, which are like regular quick-service Disney fries but with seasoned salt. I wish they’d do this EVERYWHERE! It makes the fries so much more interesting flavor-wise with extra salt and some paprika. You’ll want to eat them quickly because they get tough when they’re cold, but they were soft and delicious when they were fresh. French fries Last but not least, let’s talk about that Kansas City Smoked Half Chicken for $14.79. This comes with a slow-smoked half chicken with sweet barbecue sauce served with one side and a piece of garlic toast. Disney notes that due to their unique smoking process, your meat may appear pink in color, so don’t be alarmed if that’s the case! Kansas City Smoked Half Chicken The chicken was pretty smoky and comes in a giant serving. They had removed some of the bones so that it was easier to cut and eat, but my piece was also pretty dry. This may be due in part to the smoking process, but I needed to dip it in sauce to help it out. Inside the chicken The garlic toast was very similar to the burger bun. It’s buttery and a little salty, with a nice, soft piece of bread. Honestly a pretty good crowd-pleasing side. Texas Toast And then for my choice of side, I picked the beer-battered onion rings. Like the one on my burger, I found these to be very crispy on the outside but with a mushy onion in the middle. They’re pretty greasy as well. On the bright side, the onion didn’t pull out through the batter when I bit it, and for that I am grateful! Onion Rings And of course, you know I couldn’t resist trying all four of the barbecue sauces with the chicken, so let’s dive into each! First up there’s the Classic Smokehouse Sauce, which was smoky and sweet, and very traditional barbecue sauce. Think like what you’d get in a bottle at any grocery store in America. Sizzlin’ Pit The Savory Spice Sauce was thinner with a tangy punch. It’s also a tiny bit spicy with almost a tomato-ness to it. Brisket Sauce The Vinegar Base Sauce was my personal favorite (I hail from the Carolinas, where vinegar sauce is KING!). It’s heavy on the vinegar with a strong tangy flavor and a tiny bit of spiciness. I thought it was a great pairing for the chicken. Vinegar League The last of the bunch was the Sweet Mustard Sauce, which tastes just like the name describes! It was sweet and tangy with a very mustard-forward flavor. It’s on the thicker side. Mustard Sauce So now that we’ve tried everything, how does Regal Eagle stack up? Overall All in all, it seems like Regal Eagle might’ve been having a rough day meats-wise, considering both my burger and chicken were on the overdone side. However, most of the sides were pretty top-notch, especially the mac & cheese! All the eats! There’s a great variety of options here, and I think you could really mix and match entrees and sides to find the best possible combination for your tastes. Plus, we’re suckers for a variety of self-serve sauces! Typically, this is one of our go-to’s and we’ll likely continue coming back. Nosh or Not? Head to the back of the World Showcase for a Muppet-themed barbecue if… You’ve got picky eaters in your party. This is a great spot for those who aren’t quite as adventurous and don’t necessarily want to branch out to the international cuisines around the World Showcase. You want a quick service meal indoors. In the World Showcase specifically, there aren’t many quick-service restaurants with abundant indoor seating. This is a great spot to dine if it’s hot outside or when it’s raining. You want to get the spread of American barbecue. This restaurant offers a nice variety of barbecue options from different regions across the U.S., represented in the entrees, sides, and sauces. Keep strolling around the Showcase if… You want some adventurous fare. There are plenty of unique dining options in the other World Showcase pavilions if you want something a bit more adventurous than American barbecue. You’re very particular about your barbecue. The barbecue options here are a pretty basic representation of what you’ll find across the country. If you’re from a barbecue-centric area, it might not be quite as fancy as what you get at home. 24. It’s no secret that we adore Disney World snacks — hence our name being “Disney FOOD Blog.” Gaston’s Cinnamon Roll We definitely have our favorite snacks around the resort, but we try all the new ones that come out — including the questionable ones when Disney is trying to hop on some kind of trend. However, we’ve noticed a trend OUTSIDE the Disney World parks that we’re wondering if we’ll in Orlando someday. But Disney, if you do jump on the tiny trend, we already have ideas — these are the 5 snacks we need to see in mini size! If you’ve been to the grocery store recently, you may have noticed there’s a new “mini food” trend going on, especially in the candy aisle. We’ve seen mini Skittles, M&Ms (which have been around for a while), mini Reese’s Puffs, and more. We wouldn’t be surprised if we see Disney hop on this popular trend, so here are the snacks we 100% NEED to see in mini-size in the parks. Mickey Pretzels Of COURSE the iconic Mickey Pretzel needs to be on this list! It’s one of the biggest snack staples of the resort, meaning it’s only fitting we see it in mini-size. We love a good Mickey pretzel! Now, getting the face right might be a little tricky, but we know mini soft pretzels are a thing (just hop over to Auntie Anne’s in Disney Springs), and Disney can be VERY creative, so we’re sure they could do it. Just make sure we have that cheese sauce to dip them in, and you’ve got a money-maker right there, Disney! Mickey Ice Cream Sandwiches On that same note, Mickey Ice Cream Sandwiches are also a big iconic snack staple in the parks, which makes it another perfect match for the mini series. Mickey Ice Cream Sandwich Have you ever seen those packs of mini chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwiches at the store? Aren’t they SO tempting because they’re so little and cute, and the price feels more worth it because you’re getting 12 in a package? This would work PERFECTLY with Mickey-shaped ice cream sandwiches, too, especially if they were sold in the Disney World hotel gift shops and in stores around the nation! Cheshire Cat Tails Okay, hear us out real quick — these pastries are already a good size, but imagine mini Cheshire Cat Tails served in a little popcorn-like box! Cheshire Cat Tail They could be priced a little higher because the container could be large enough to split with someone if you wanted, but having them be bite-sized will make them easier to snack on around Magic Kingdom. Cheeseburger Pods Cheeseburger Pods aren’t the largest snack in the parks by any means, but we think even SMALLER versions of them would be absolutely ADORABLE! Cheeseburger Pods at Satu’li Canteen Again, Disney could charge a little more for these and they could be marketed as shareable (or if you’re like some of us, you’ll just use it as one meal and chomp down on all of them — no judgement!), but we think they’d sell like WILDFIRE, so let’s get on it, Disney! Gaston’s Cinnamon Roll Now WAIT, we know part of the draw of Gaston’s Cinnamon Roll is that it’s massive; that’s why it fits with the theming of Gaston’s Tavern. HOWEVER, if you’ve been able to have the Fried Cinnamon Roll Bites in EPCOT for the Flower and Garden Festival…just imagine that size but with THESE cinnamon rolls! It’s as big as Gaston’s muscles! It’ll take some trial and error, we know, but we know we’d buy mini versions of this thing all day LOOONG and never get sick of them. Plus add a cup of that frosting on the side to dip them in? TAKE OUR MONEY! We’re not ones to brag, but we think we’re full of some pretty great ideas over here, Disney, so give us a call whenever you wanna hop on the mini food trend! 25. We’re back again with a roundup of all of the new updates we got at Disney World this week. Cinderella Castle You might be wondering just how many things could possibly happen at Disney World in just a week, but the answer is A LOT. We’re at Disney World every single day keeping track of all of the changes — big and small. While we couldn’t possibly include all of these things in just ONE post, we can show you all some of our favorite updates. You ready? Let’s go! We’ll start in Magic Kingdom! Cast Members got new costumes! Recently, Disney World Cast Members were spotted wearing new costumes on Main Street, U.S.A. at Magic Kingdom, and now it appears that change has extended to Cast Members working in the stores! NEW costumes at park entry! If you head to Main Street, U.S.A., you’ll see Cast Members at the Emporium are sporting new costumes! One of the new Cast Member costume options includes a burgundy and cream skirt paired with a pink top, burgundy sleeves, and a neck piece. Another option includes a blue vest with a white striped button-up and khakis. New Emporium Cast Member costumes One Cast Member spoke very highly of the new costume! They said it was more breathable and that there is a long-sleeve option on some of the styles. The Emporium changes reflect a new costume movement that seems to be sweeping over Main Street, U.S.A.! NEWS: Disney Quietly CHANGES a Magic Kingdom Character Meet-and-Greet Next, let’s head over to Disney’s Animal Kingdom! A NEW map and character changes! During our most recent visit to Animal Kingdom, we spotted this new map on the stands at the front of the park! The new map! When you open the front page, you’re greeted by the Alive with Magic spread, which includes some of Animal Kingdom’s biggest highlights. It mentions popular entertainment, character meets, dining, and animal experiences. It also gives a little guide to the My Disney Experience app. The map itself is where we spotted the changes — there are new character meet-and-greet icons in DinoLand, U.S.A., and The Oasis. These mark the spots where Goofy, Pluto, and Pocahontas meet now. The map itself The rest of the map seems to have not changed! Click Here to Learn More About the Character Changes! Finally, let’s head over to EPCOT! A NEW attraction is almost complete! We’ve been tracking the construction progress of the CommuniCore Hall at EPCOT for what seems like forever and now it seems like EPCOT’s finally ready to give us SOMETHING back! CommuniCore is set to open on June 11th, 2024, and we happened to spot MORE light testing going on at the building opening soon! CommuniCore It was absolutely breathtaking! It was incredible to watch all of the lights flicker and change seamlessly through all of the colors and we almost couldn’t take our eyes off it! Beautiful We think these lights will be an incredible addition to the World Celebration area of EPCOT and cant wait to be able to walk up closer to them when the time comes!
