  4. There are plenty of WILD things to do at Disney World that you can’t do anywhere else, but the wildest ones happen at (where else?!) Animal Kingdom! Disney’s Animal Kingdom This park isn’t just home to excellent rides, stellar restaurants, and incredible character experiences; it’s also home to some seriously amazing animals. There are plenty of trails and, of course, Kilimanjaro Safaris, but the BEST way to really get up close and personal with the animals is on the Wild Africa Trek — some come along with us! The Wild Africa Trek is a three-hour tour of the Safi River Valley — an area of Animal Kingdom park that is typically unseen by guests. Wild Africa Trek This privately guided tour offers amazing (and close!) views of many of the animals that call Animal Kingdom home. Giraffes, rhinos, hippos, and crocodiles may all make appearances on the tour, which combines walking and riding in a safari vehicle, including the crossing of an open bridge. Safari Truck Check-in takes place at the Curiosity Animal Tours kiosk just outside the entrance to Kilimanjaro Safaris. Here is where you’ll meet your guides, put your belongings in lockers, and have all the requirements and rules explained to you. Getting set up You’ll also step on a scale so they can determine what size vest you’ll need, plus you’ll be given wristlets to attach your phone or camera for photos. Everything you bring must be connected to you, so it doesn’t fall into the animal enclosures — leave your MagicBand in your locker. This is where you’ll check in. You’ll also get a headset so you can listen to the guides, a water bottle (to keep!), and a name tag. Souvenir water bottle! The tour began as we walked through most of the Gorilla Falls train to get back to the hippos. Right by the meerkats is where we started walking on a trail that normal guests can’t go down. We were harnessed above the hippos on a ledge, and as long as you’re brave, you can go right up to the edge. They had a bucket of lettuce and tried to get the hippos to come over for a feeding, but the hippos didn’t want to (they only do positive reinforcement, so if the hippos don’t want to come over, they don’t have to). The behind-the-scenes trail We learned that there are 11 hippos at Animal Kingdom, which is the most in human care in North America. They have the “World Showcase of Hippos” from France, Germany, Mexico, and more, and most have been here since opening day! No hippos here! Next, we kept walking through a trail and ended over with the crocodiles! You do have to climb a treehouse-looking stand that’s a couple of stories tall, where the Cast Members will hook your harness up to a rope bridge! The first rope bridge goes over the road that safari trucks drive on past the crocodiles. It wasn’t super shaky, but it did wobble a little. This part takes a while because the tour guides ask that you keep half the bridge’s length of distance from the person in front of you. Crocodile bridge There’s a second bridge that goes over the enclosure. Crocs under your feet, people!!! Once we were done with the second bridge and on the ground, there was a water refill station, hand sanitizer, and free cooling towels you also get to keep. Refreshment station Then, we were hooked to another harness while standing around the crocodile enclosure — and we could stand on the ledge if we wanted to. Also, Kermit is the crocodile hanging out by the bridge! Close to the crocs! We then walked a little bit further on the trail to get to our safari vehicle. It’s a special truck in which everyone sits on the walls of the truck, so it’s easier to see the animals. On the Wild Africa Trek, you go through some of the regular Kilimanjaro Safaris attraction, but you’re also able to go off path and stop the truck to look at specific animals. Safari truck We drove RIGHT UP to the giraffes and sat there for at least five minutes. It was very cool. You can ask any questions, and the Cast Members tell stories and facts you won’t hear on the attraction. Look at these giraffes! Then, it was time for a bite to eat at the boma! Boma means “safe place” in Swahili. This is where you get snacks and POG juice. The boma We only had a short time here, about 15 minutes once we all sat down with the food. It was SO cool to see the animals while we snacked, but none of them were super close to the boma. The boma does have restrooms, though, as there is no time for a bathroom break in the first two hours of the tour. Boma bathrooms The container your food comes in is called a Tiffin (aka, why the restaurant is named that), it has various snacky items like: Garlic and leek hummus and pita Prosciutto and mozzarella Olive mix with pickles Fresh fruit Chicken wrap Marinated tandoori shrimp Our snacks All of it was very yummy, but don’t expect it to be a full meal and fill you up (you also don’t have very long here, at least our group didn’t, but it likely was because we took a bit longer on the bridge). More eats! Then, it was back on the truck to finish out the safari, where we were stopped for just a minute by the cheetahs, but not for long! We later made it back to the lockers, returned all our gear, and said goodbye to the friends we made along the way! Goodbye for now! Keep in mind that the tour guides bring along a professional camera and take photos while you’re doing the trek, along with the animals you meet along the way. You’ll get all of these photos included in the price of the tour — they give you a PhotoPass card at the end that you can scan to download your photos, which should show up within 24-48 hours. PhotoPass card These three-hour guided tours are offered multiple times daily, with starting times typically beginning as early as 8 AM and running through 12:30 PM. The cost isn’t cheap, but it’s an incredible experience that is totally worth it. You’ll be spending between $219.00 and $229.00, tax not included. Do this if you get the opportunity! We LOVED our time on the Wild Africa Trek, and if you’re interested in learning more about it for yourself, click here or go to the Disney World website to book your tour online! 5. Disney World’s water parks are pretty popular these days! Summit Plummet at Blizzard Beach Since 2025 kicked off, Disney World Resort guests have been given the perk of free admission to a Disney World water park on their check-in day. This means that a LOT more people are heading to Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon than before! And here at DFB, it’s our job to make sure you know how to eat when you visit the water parks — let’s dive into our list of must-try and must-skip items at Blizzard Beach. The Must-Tries Starting out with our list of must-try items, you know we have to mention the mini donuts at the Joffrey’s Mini Donuts stand! These come in sizes of 6 or 12, and you can order chocolate, raspberry, or white chocolate dipping sauces for an upcharge. A really fun and unique snack for the water park! Mini Donuts! For lunch, we recommend heading over to Lottawatta Lodge and snagging one of their flatbread pizzas. They offer traditional pepperoni and cheese flavors, but the real winner here is the White Cap Flatbread. It’s made with chicken breast, bacon, white sauce, mozzarella, red onion, and tomato. YUM! White Cap Flatbread If you’re a beer drinker, there’s a great deal for you at Blizzard Beach! Select locations offer beer in a souvenir cup…and those souvenir cups are refillable. This is a STEAL if you plan on snagging multiple adult beverages throughout the day. Avalunch Over at I.C. Expeditions, you can grab the iconic Sand Pail Sundae, made with vanilla and chocolate soft serve, sprinkles, waffle cone pieces, yellow cake, hot fudge, caramel sauce, whipped cream, and topped with a cherry. It’s served in a sand pail complete with a little shovel, which is a great souvenir to take home! It’s $17.99, but it’s definitely shareable. Sand Pail Sundae For some more delicious treats, you’ll want to head over to the Warming Hut. Here, you can pick up a Disney Parks classic — Dole Whip! They serve Orange Dole Whip in a waffle cone at this location, and you can even get it swirled with vanilla soft serve. If you ask us, it’s the perfect treat for a hot day at a water park. Orange Dole Whip Also at the Warming Hut, you’ll find the Elote Nachos. They’re topped with roasted pork, elote cheese sauce, guacamole, sour cream, roasted corn, jalapenos, and pico de gallo. And yes, they’re just as delicious as they sound! A great combination of meaty, savory, fresh, and bright flavors, and a hearty portion to go along with it. Elote Nachos But what about the options that you may want to skip? The Skips First on our list of skips is Joffrey’s coffee, but SPECIFICALLY from the Mini Donuts stand. Instead, you’ll want to get your coffee at the Joffrey’s Coffee kiosk, where they have more options. (And, in our opinion, better brews!) Blizzard Beach Joffrey’s During a recent visit, we tried the Apple Pie Churro at I.C. Expeditions, and it was a huge disappointment. It’s essentially a series of mini churros topped with apple pie filling, and even though that sounds good in theory, it was a mess to eat, and the flavors weren’t as deep as we hoped they would be. Womp womp. Apple Pie Churro On the menu at a few snack spots, you’ll find some basic Disney snacks like the Mickey pretzel. And for us, this is a no-go. It’s not unique to the water parks, and it’s just a lot of carbs to weigh you down on a day when you probably want to feel lighter. There are definitely better options in Blizzard Beach! Mickey Pretzel The water parks don’t have quite as many food or snack options as the theme parks do, but there are still some must-haves during your visit. If you plan ahead, you can have an absolutely delicious day! When you’re out in the sun having fun, it’s important to stay fueled and hydrated. 6. Are you considering traveling to the Caribbean anytime soon? We suggest catching up on the U.S. State Department’s most recent travel warnings for the area. Disney Cruise Line The Caribbean island cluster is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Western Hemisphere, with millions of Americans flocking to the region by plane and cruise each year. However, the U.S. State Department has issued a series of travel warnings for the area that may give some potential travelers pause. The State Department breaks its travel advisory scale into four levels, with 1 being the least severe and 4 being the most. Currently, Haiti is the only Caribbean Country listed at Level 4 by the State Department, warning NOT to travel there. The country is listed as having a severe risk of “crime and kidnapping” for American citizens. As of writing, Carnival has paused cruises to Labadee, Haiti, due to the perceived dangers of traveling there. ©Carnival The State Department’s third level of Trade Advisory recommends that Americans reconsider visiting a location, but stops short of advising them clearly not to. Currently, Caribbean countries under a Level 3 Advisory are Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, and Guyana, all of which for risk of crime, terrorism, and kidnapping. The second level of Warning issued by the State Department calls for visitors to exercise “increased” caution. Caribbean countries currently at Level 2 warning levels include the Bahamas (a major port for many of the world’s largest cruise lines, including Disney), Belize Cuba, and Turks and Caicos. Disney’s Nassau Port in the Bahamas Finally, there’s Level 1, in which visitors are advised to exercise normal precautions. Caribbean countries under this lowest level of State Department warning are Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Grenada, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Dominica, and Suriname. Disney Wish If you’re heading to the Caribbean soon, definitely stay attuned to the State Department’s latest travel warnings for the region. 7. Step aside, every other Avenger, because the greatest Super-Soldier of all time has arrived! It’s Alexei Shostakov’s time to shine! He’s made it! He’s here! Here, of course, is Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure park at the Disneyland Resort. And you might know Alexei better via his long-standing Super Hero moniker — the Red Guardian! A man who is strong and supportive, he is excited to visit the campus and finally meet all the other Super Heroes he has heard about, so maybe you can help him find them! (when he’s not dabbling with his other job, Red Guardian Limo Service — be sure to ask about it!). Oh, and if you happen to see Captain America strolling around, be sure to spread the word of how awesome, incredible, and fearsome Red Guardian is… Red Guardian’s already hosted distinguished and notable guests at Avengers Campus, like his #1 super-fan, David Harbour. The actor stopped by Avengers Campus to trade stories with him, probably about coaching youth soccer. Those looking to tell Red Guardian how cool he is can find him throughout the day at Avengers Campus for a limited time. Be sure to check the Disneyland App for the most up-to-date information on when you may spot him, as his patrol times are subject to change! And when you’re done saving the day with Red Guardian at Avengers Campus, see him on the big screen (with all his anti-hero friends) in Thunderbolts*, now only in theaters. After Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes, Ghost, Taskmaster, John Walker, and Red Guardian find themselves ensnared in a death trap, these disillusioned castoffs embark on a dangerous mission that will force them to confront the darkest corners of their past. Will this dysfunctional group tear themselves apart, or find redemption and unite as something much more before it’s too late? To enter a park, both a theme park reservation and a valid ticket for the same park on the same date is required. Park reservations are limited, subject to availability, and not guaranteed. Parks, attractions, entertainment, experiences, services, and offerings may be modified, limited in availability or unavailable, and are subject to restrictions, and change or cancellation without notice. 8. Six Flags Entertainment Corporation has announced that it will close Six Flags America and Hurricane Harbor in Bowie, Maryland, after the 2025 operating season comes to an end. ©Six Flags The approximately 500-acre property will be marketed for redevelopment as part of Six Flags’ portfolio optimization program. Six Flags President and CEO Richard A. Zimmerman said, “As part of our comprehensive review of our park portfolio, we have determined that Six Flags America and Hurricane Harbor are not a strategic fit with the company’s long-term growth plan.” ©Six Flags He continued, “After reviewing a number of options, we believe that marketing the property for redevelopment will generate the highest value and return on investment. We anticipate strong interest in the property and will continue to strategically pursue portfolio optimization opportunities as we work to unlock the full value of our portfolio.” ©Six Flags Zimmerman went on to say that this was a difficult decision as it will have an impact on the employees of Six Flags America and Hurricane Harbor. Six Flags America has about 70 full-time employees, who will be provided with severance and benefits. The closure of Six Flags America and Hurricane Harbor is not expected to have a significant material impact on the company’s financial results in 2025. ©Six Flags The parks’ final operating day will be Sunday, November 2nd, 2025. All 2025 season passes and tickets will be honored throughout the final operating season at Six Flags America and Hurricane Harbor. ©Six Flags This news comes shortly after it was revealed that Superman: Escape from Krypton had been permanently closed at Six Flags Magic Mountain. According to the park’s president, Jeff Harris, the decision to close the attraction — which had been down for refurbishment since September — came down to an inability to repair the attraction. According to Harris, “Some of the parts are obsolete. It’s really tough to even get parts to keep it alive.” ©Six Flags We’ll be on the lookout for additional updates from Six Flags and more. 10. Disney World can be magical, but sometimes, something happens on a trip that makes a guest never ever want to return to the parks. Rainy day in Disney World Things can happen on your Disney trip that will make it memorable, maybe not in a good way. Hurricanes can happen. Your luggage can get lost on your flight. Maybe your favorite ride is down for mechanical issues on your park day. While we wish every Disney trip could be perfect, it may not unfold that way. Here are 5 tales that you can learn from, so hopefully you don’t find yourself in similar situations! A team member had a friend who was frustrated by being told what to do and where to go on his Disney vacation by his spouse. He was so angry, he walked away and threw an AirTag on his wallet into the World Showcase Lagoon so that he couldn’t be tracked. Lesson here — not everyone wants to go pedal to the metal at Disney. Some visitors want a more relaxing experience in the parks. It can be easy to get caught up in the “to-dos” and start demanding that everyone in your party does X, Y, and Z. Talk about expectations BEFORE your trip to save you some headaches — and your AirTag. EPCOT’s World Showcase One reporter shared that her first time she took our kids to Disney World, one of their kiddos had an accident just as they were called into Whispering Canyon Cafe (It can happen to any parent!). It would have been her first time eating there, but unfortunately, she spent all of the dinner finding a new outfit for her kid and in the restroom with them. The server also deducted mine, my mom’s, and my 3-year-old’s dining plan credits even though we were all not able to enjoy the meal. Our only consolation was that she “boxed up” a plate from the family platters to go once the server realized we never made the meal. Lesson to learn — accidents can happen on your trip, and while most Cast Members are very helpful, some might not fully understand what you need. It never hurts to ask politely to see if it’s something that they can fix on their end. Whispering Canyon Cafe One editor shared that when she was younger, she went with a friend’s family who could not handle the heat in Disney World. They hated the crowds and were overstimulated. They said, “We’re not theme park people,”. Lesson — Disney World is not for EVERYONE. If you don’t like crowds or theme parks, it’s probably not the best idea to vacation here. It’s a good idea to know your traveling party to know if this is something they will enjoy before spending money on it. Magic Kingdom Crowds Another team member shared that she knew a family of 10 who were going to Disney World for vacation and had budgeted only like $50 a day for meals for their ENTIRE family. That family has not been back since. The takeaway here is that you want to set a realistic budget for your traveling party. You can look up menu prices ahead of time and read our reviews to help you get a good picture of what it will look like to dine at Disney. Trail’s End Restaurant We all know of guests who really don’t do their research before going and just show up. While that was very doable 20 years ago, that just isn’t the case anymore. Families who go without having a general understanding of Lightning Lanes, but don’t want to wait in lines, might have a hard time. Guests who want to eat at Cinderella’s Royal Table, but have no advanced dining reservations booked, might find disappointment. Visitors who don’t have the MyDisney App downloaded and understand how to utilize it can leave frustrated. That’s where we can help! Cinderella Castle So our best piece of advice, a little bit of planning can set you up for success. 11. OK, Disney planners. We have some Disney World closure news for you! You might want to double-check your plans — there’s a temporary closure planned for a popular Disney World hotel. Wilderness Lodge We’ve been seeing a lot happen at Disney World this year, and we know there’s more to come. Big Thunder Mountain is closed during the massive Magic Kingdom changes. Animal Kingdom is going through some permanent closures, and Hollywood Studios will also be going through closures soon, too. We wanted to remind you that this fan-favorite resort is getting a refurbishment as well, specifically its popular restaurant! It’s time to say a temporary goodbye to the Whispering Canyon Cafe—the loud, chaotic, exciting dining experience (yes, don’t be fooled by its name). It’s a table-service dining option located at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, an immersive “campground”-type resort. This table service restaurant will be closed from May 12th through May 21st, 2025! Whispering Canyon Cafe Yes, Whispering Canyon is known for its chaotic yet fun dining experience, but they also serve AMAZING food! This includes those famous all-you-can-eat skillets — there are two with Beef Brisket, Pork Ribs, and Pulled Pork, one with land and sea options, and even a plant-based signature skillet. So, you can get as much food as you want; literally eat until you can’t anymore! Heritage all-you-can-eat skillet! Before its closure date on May 12th, Whispering Canyon Cafe will offer a special Mother’s Day brunch! This will happen on May 11th from 7:30 AM to 2:00 PM. Just be aware that the regular breakfast and lunch menus will not be available during this time. The following day, the restaurant will close to undergo some general refurbishment. Whispering Canyon Cafe If you’re staying at the Wilderness Lodge or hoping to visit the resort during the restaurant’s closure time, there are other great dining options! Places like Territory Lounge, Geyser Point, Roaring Fork, and Storybook Dining at Artist Point with Snow White are all excellent choices! The Storybook Dining restaurant hosts a character dining experience featuring your favorite characters from Snow White! We love this resort, and find ourselves spending a lot of time there. It’s very close to the Magic Kingdom, and obviously has great food (otherwise we wouldn’t be talking about it). Grumpy at Storybook Dining The Whispering Canyon Cafe is unique, and the experience might not be for everyone! This restaurant embraces the art of “horsing around,” and the Cast Members who have a reputation for being sassy with the guests. They’ll throw napkins on your table, throw straws, talk back to you, and do a whole bunch of other funny things. The biggest thing they’re known for is their whole ketchup fiasco! When you ask for ketchup, they get the table to yell “KETCHUP” (they yell with you), and every single person in the restaurant with ketchup at their table has to bring it to you. It’s all just a big act for the restaurant, so don’t be offended if they get a little crazy with you — just be warned. Whispering Canyon Cafe Don’t want to go through all of the stress of booking your Disney World trip alone? Reach out to our friends at Small World Vacations! Their experienced agents monitor your reservation for possible future savings, compare discounts and figure out which one works best for your travel party, dates, resort, and touring plans. And, they share expert tips and first-hand advice with you about your magical vacation. One last reminder that the closing date is May 12th! So if you can, get this restaurant in before it closes in a week and a bit. 12. This summer is a GREAT time to visit Disney World (okay, except for the HEAT…)! EPCOT From May 27th through September 1st, you can expect to see DJ-fueled dance parties, surprise character experiences, fun activities, and nonstop summer vibes. To make way for Cool Kid Summer, CommuniCore Hall at EPCOT will be closing — which means this EPCOT festival booth has to CHANGE. Disney has announced that to make way for DJ Goofy’s dance party at EPCOT, CommuniCore Hall will temporarily close starting May 12th as it is transformed — which means the Farmers Feast festival booth currently located inside will need to be relocated! 2025 Farmers Feast Booth Inside CommuniCore Hall Starting on May 12th, you can find Farmers Feast goodies at the Florida Fresh booth, located just outside CommuniCore Hall, instead. 2025 Booth The DJ Goofy dance party kicks off inside CommuniCore Hall on May 27th, so we expect the Farmer’s Feast menu items to be available at Florida Fresh for the remainder of the EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival, ending on June 2nd. Cool Kid Summer is bringing a TON of fun to the parks. In Magic Kingdom, Storybook Circus and Tomorrowland will have new “kid zones” as well. These will include character interactions (hello, Stitch!), activities, and more reasons to slow down and let your kids run around a bit. Stitch at Tomorrowland It all officially kicks off on May 27th, which is also when The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure and Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After will both officially debut at Hollywood Studios! ©Disney There’s a LOT happening at Disney World this summer! 17. We’ve had the chance to explore Epic Universe quite a bit thanks to multiple previews, but that doesn’t mean we’re not still STOKED about the official grand opening! Epic Universe The park is officially opening on May 22nd, and we’re expecting some serious fanfare to celebrate the occasion. In fact, a new permit shows just that! Epic Universe is currently in its preview and technical rehearsal stage, but that all ends on May 22nd, 2025, when the park officially opens! And, according to a new permit filed with Orange County, it’s going to be quite the spectacle. We’re talking pyrotechnics, DRONES, and celebrity guests, people!! The permit is for backstage preparation and staging operations in an area behind the Wizarding World of Harry Potter — Ministry of Magic at Epic Universe, and shows the locations of tents, trailers, and other things set up for the event. Epic Universe Permit It looks like the TODAY Show will also be in attendance — a home base area has been set up for things like unloading gear, food & beverages, and production. According to the permit, Arena Americas is setting up the tents — they’ve worked on other Universal events in the past, like Halloween Horror Nights. TODAY Show Permit documents show that the tents will be placed from May 1st to May 30th and are referred to as EPIC Grand Opening Support Tents in another document. Permit document There will also be celebrity trailers in “Talent Trailer City” between May 18th and May 22nd, which hopefully means we can expect to see some familiar faces at the grand opening! Talent Trailer City A Media Center will be set up in the large, semi-permanent tent structure located near Stardust Racers, which has been marked for training and special events as well. We also spotted a Legend on the permit that indicates outlines for a “Pyro Launch and Fallout Zones” along with a “Drone Zone.” Of course, Universal has not announced anything for the grand opening officially, but it’s possible we could see a drone show AND fireworks! Drone Zone!!! We’ll be on the lookout for additional information about Epic Universe’s official opening. In the meantime, make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Universal and theme park news! 19. Have you ever thought about all of the Disney World rooms you would stay in if money weren’t a factor? Come with me as we daydream about the fanciest rooms in Disney World! Disney’s Yacht Club Resort There are a lot of ways to make your Disney World vacation feel extra fancy. If I had endless funds, there are a few things that immediately come to mind, including booking a VIP Tour, a private fireworks cruise, and dinner at the chef’s table at Victoria & Albert’s. Of course, we have to talk about the fanciest hotel rooms at Disney World! 1. The Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge The Copper Creek Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort are a fun experience that is truly one of a kind on Disney World property. The cabins feature two bedrooms that overlook the Bay Lake waterfront, a full kitchen, a private hot tub, and enough accommodations to sleep eight! ©Disney It also features your own personal hot tub. Prices for this location range from $2500 to $4000. It’s also worth noting that Copper Creek is a DVC property, but anyone can stay there! ©Disney 2. Two-bedroom Room at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort Over at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, there are several fancy rooms, but the two-bedroom room with club-level access is one of my favorites. It sleeps 6 adults, and the decor in this room is stunning. You also get the great perks of club level, including food and drinks. ©Disney There is a living room with two bedrooms, and just look at this theme park view of Magic Kingdom. Just imagine watching the fireworks from this window every night — a girl can dream. This room will start at $2700 a night and will increase from there depending on the season. ©Disney 3. Theme Park View 1 Bedroom Suite at Disney’s Contemporary Resort The 1-bedroom suite with a theme park view at Disney’s Contemporary Resort is making my list. This luxurious room sleeps 6 adults and includes club-level access as well as a small fridge, coffee and tea station, patio or balcony, and personalized guest services. ©Disney While the whole suite has theming from Pixar’s Incredibles film. But the real treat here is the bedroom with Eda Mode theming. The magazine covers of Eda are framed on the wall, and we think the designer would approve of this room. This room can range from $2,500 to $3,800 a night. ©Disney 4. The Newport Presidential Suite at Disney’s Beach Club Staying at Disney’s Beach Club is already such a treat, but to stay in the Newport Presidential Suite is a dream. It sleeps 8 guests and has views of the Boardwalk and Stormalong Bay. ©Disney This room includes a fireplace, a living room, a large dining area, and large bedrooms that are fit for a queen. You also have your own private balcony to enjoy the scenic views. The room averages $4000 a night, depending on the time of year. ©Disney 5. The Treehouse Villa at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Yes, there are treehouses at Disney World. Located at the DVC resort, Disney’s Saratoga Springs, these treehouses are a three-bedroom villa. Elevated ten feet above the ground, you’ll have a beautiful backdrop of nature and enjoy a full kitchen and three plush bedrooms! Treehouse Villas These treehouses sleep nine people and will set you back about $1400 to $2100 a night. If you’ve ever dreamed of spending the night in a real treehouse, this is where that dream can come true. The Kitchen 6. The Bungalow at Disney’s Polynesian Village The Bungalow at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is one of the most well-known hotel “rooms” in Disney World. These bungalows will make you feel like you are getting two vacations in one — a Disney World vacation and a private island experience. Polynesian Village Bungalows It sleeps 8 guests and amenities include a plunge pool, full kitchen, and luxuriously designed bedrooms! Not to mention the stellar view of the evening fireworks, as all of these bungalows are situated just across the Seven Seas Lagoon from Magic Kingdom. 21. What if we told you that you could easily walk over 10 miles in one day at Disney World? Yeah, so we know how important a pair of shoes is for the parks. Disney World is BIG Shoes can make or break your trip because if you’re feet are miserable, so are you! You probably won’t want to wait in line at that attraction you’ve been talking about for months, and you might want to skip out on waiting for the fireworks. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. There are a lot of different shoe brands on the market, but we happen to love wearing Hokas in the parks. We ordered a brand new pair and wore them for a week straight! Not to spoil our own story, but these might have to be at the top of your packing list. Our Hokas We know Hokas can be a bit on the expensive side, but it’s for good reason. When you first look at the shoe, you might notice the thick soles, since that’s where you’ll get the most comfort. Look at that cushion! After we broke in the shoes a bit, we noticed how much spring we got in our step from those thick bottoms! Disney World is almost entirely concrete, so it’s nice to have a thick layer between your feet and the ground. When we wore them, we actually forgot for a moment we were walking on that hard concrete because they felt so nice. SHOP ON AMAZON The spring in each step made us feel a bit like Tigger because we were bouncing a lot. We understand why runners love them — each step felt like we were going further than usual! We love the spring! Another part we loved was how breathable they were. Florida can get hot, and yep, even your feet will get sweaty. The mesh on top helped the air flow onto our feet and definitely made our day more enjoyable. The inside Before they were fully broken in, we noticed a bit of rubbing on the top of our heels on the shoes, but wearing socks just a smidge higher fixed the problem. You also probably don’t want your first day wearing these shoes to be at Disney World. A week or two at home will make sure the shoes are perfect for your feet. SHOP ON AMAZON All in all, we wore these Hokas for multiple full park days, and we would do it again. Don’t underestimate the importance of a good pair of shoes when visiting Disney World; they can truly make your trip more enjoyable! Keep following Disney Food Blog for everything you need for your next Disney World trip. Looking for more Disney World essentials? Check out our Amazon Storefront with all of our favorites! 22. Pack your bags, we’re going to the Bahamas! ©MSC With the new Disney Adventure setting sail this year, it seems like the cruise vacation is getting more popular! There are quite a few well-known cruise lines, but what’s new with MSC? This cruise line will be joining the trend of expanding by adding another island destination! MSC Cruises is known for its focus on fun and sustainability at sea. It most recently had a refurbishment done with its private island destination, Ocean Cay. With the popularity of the cruise line continuing to rise, they will now be adding the Bahamas to their destination list, according to Travel Pulse! ©MSC MSC recently confirmed its plans to develop an island that will become the cruise line’s newest destination. The island hasn’t been given a name yet, but is being called “Little Cay” internally. When it’s completed, it is estimated to be about 1/3 of the size of the cruise line’s already existing private island. ©MSC An MSC spokeswoman of the new island claimed, “This second island will stay true to the ethos of Ocean Cay, offering an experience that connects guests to nature, pristine beaches, and the beauty of the ocean plus luxury facilities and water features.”. Pierfrancesco Vago, MSC’s executive chariman, stated “this [new island] will offer a different experience for the different brands.”. ©MSC This new island is planned to be developed over an existing sandbank in the Bahamas. This gives MSC Group the chance to build a new thing. Vago claimed, “We design the island to be an incredible luxury experience. We’re very proud and very happy to have developed again something from nothing like this, so we don’t spoil the existing paradise”. Unfortunately, we don’t have many details outside of what’s been said. This is still a very early stage of development for MSC. The good news is, the company has announced they’re actively working with officials and partners in the Bahamas to get this new project up and rolling! ©MSC We’re excited to see what this new island destination will look like. It’s good that multiple cruise lines keep adding to their brand, allowing for many different cruising options. 24. Disney World is in the middle of a massive transition, as new projects are underway all over the resort, including all four theme parks. Walt Disney World In the short term, these major changes are coming in the next few months! Double the Water Parks Since Disney World reopened following the COVID-19 closure, the resort has alternated which of its two water parks – – Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon – – is open at a given time, with one being closed for refurbishment while the other was operational. That’s all changing in May. Blizzard Beach First off, Typhoon Lagoon is reopening on May 1st. Now, Blizzard Beach is closing that day, BUT the park is reopening on May 21st, and BOTH of Disney World’s water parks will be open at the same time all summer! This is especially notable, as this summer will be the first summer season in which Disney World hotel guests receive a complimentary water park ticket on their check-in date. Two NEW Shows at Hollywood Studios May 27th will see the debut of not one, but TWO new stage shows at Hollywood Studios. The first, Unfairly Ever After is a “spellbinding show with moving music and a most memorable finale—where you help decide who has been treated most unfairly” amongst the Disney Villains. The show will be located in the former home of Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy. ©Disney The second new Hollywood Studios show is a reimagined interpretation of the park’s long-running Little Mermaid show. The new “fully reimagined show will take the audience to Ariel’s treasure trove” and be known as The Little Mermaid: A Musical Adventure. According to Disney, this new show will keep “the lively puppets, props, and scenery center stage. But new to this production, get ready to be dazzled with new digital puppetry and jaw-dropping effects. Plus, the addition of new-to-the-show songs!” The Little Mermaid: A Musical Adventure Bourbon Steak is Coming to Disney World In June, Shula’s Steakhouse at the Dolphin Resort will be closing to be transformed into an outpost of Bourbon Steak. Bourbon Steak, Orange County The chain, which was launched by Celebrity chef Michael Mina about two decades ago, has locations in Del Ray Beach, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, New York, Orange County, Scottsdale, and Washington D.C. The upscale chain is “a tribute to the classic American steakhouse” according to Mina. Going by the other locations, the restaurant’s menu should include “prime cuts of beef, fresh seafood, and an extensive selection of wines and spirits, including rare and vintage bourbon selections,” as well as regional-specific dishes made with locally sourced ingredients. 25. There are lots of things to love about the Disney World water parks: it is hard to beat a day relaxing by the water, plunging down water rides, and grabbing unlimited refills in your refillable mug. To know Disney World refillable mugs is to love Disney World refillable mugs. Well, for the most part, we still have some complaints about the mug. But it is wonderful to be able to refill your mug to your heart’s content while relaxing in your beach chair. Typhoon Lagoon We have some bad news if you are a refillable cup fan like us, though. There is now one less location where you can find refillable mugs. The good news is that the mugs are still available at the Disney World hotels, but you currently CAN’T get them at the Disney World water parks. Typhoon Lagoon has officially reopened in Disney World! It reopened on May 1st, as Blizzard Beach closed for a short refurbishment. However, BOTH water parks will be open at the same time beginning May 21st. We are checking out the newly reopened Typhoon Lagoon and came across some not-so-great news. Water Parks Refillable Mug The classic refillable mugs we have grown to know and love are currently unavailable at Typhoon Lagoon. We loved grabbing one of these mugs and enjoying refills all day long! Beyond the Disney World hotels, the water parks were the only location where the refillable mugs were available. However, it seems that mugs will only be available at the hotels, at least for now. Disney World Hotel Refillable Mugs The refillable mugs could be purchased at the water parks, and you can refill them for free throughout the day. It was a great way to stay hydrated and not spend tons of money. Refillable mugs are also available at Disney World hotels and can be purchased for the length of your stay, or you can get them included in a Disney Dining Plan. Resort Refillable Mug We also noticed some soda machines closed off near Happy Landings, and when we spoke with a Cast Member, they said that there had been an issue with bees before, and that was likely why the machines were closed off. Another Cast Member also agreed with the bees but also thought there was more to the soda machines being taken away. Closed soda machines We do have some good news, though. While the classic refillable mugs aren’t currently available, we did spot a Miss Tilly Sipper Cup that you can grab, which includes refills at Typhoon Lagoon quick-service locations for the entire day, according to Mobile Order in the Disney World app. It costs $22.49. It is not as easy to carry around as the refillable mugs, but it could be an option if you were looking forward to refills. Miss Tilly Sipper Cup When we spoke with a Cast Member, they weren’t sure if Blizzard Beach would also follow suit with getting rid of the refillable mugs, but it was definitely a possibility. There are also no guarantees that this is a permanent change, and refillable mugs could return in the future. However, for now, if you are hoping to grab a classic refillable mug, you will need to get it from your Disney World hotel. 26. In case you missed it, Brightline is at the Orlando International Airport… but that doesn’t mean you can just show up and wing it. Brightline Orlando Station If you’re planning to hop on a Brightline train out of Terminal C, you need to know the lay of the land before you get there. We’re talking parking chaos, sneaky shuttle wait times, and the kind of long walks that’ll have you questioning your luggage choices. Here’s everything you need to know about Brightline’s Orlando Station— because yes, there are rules, and yes, ignoring them will absolutely backfire. Rule #1: Do NOT assume parking will be easy. This is an airport. Parking here is never chill. Brightline riders have a few options — but if you’re expecting to just pull up and grab a space in two minutes, we’ve got news for you. Brightline Orlando Station You’ve got a couple of choices: Garage C is the closest option (next to Brightline Orlando Station), and it’s your best bet for convenience. But it fills up fast, especially during holidays or peak travel windows. You can reserve a spot up to 365 days in advance—and you should. If Garage C is full, your next closest option is the South Park Place Economy Lot. There’s a shuttle that’ll get you to Terminal C, but once you’re dropped off, it’s still a 13-minute walk to the Brightline station. That’s fine if you packed light, less fine if you’ve got kids, strollers, and Mickey-shaped everything. WallyPark offers a great deal (30% off and under $10/day), but it comes with a catch: shuttle times can be all over the place, especially during holidays. You could be waiting 30–45 minutes, so factor that into your timeline. Brightline also has three open-air surface lots specifically for guests, all priced at $20/day. These are good if you’ve got E-Pass or SunPass Plus, but they’re not open to just anyone with a car. ©MCO Moral of the story: leave early and reserve your spot if you can. No one wants to miss their train because they were circling the airport like it’s a mall on Christmas Eve. Rule #2: If you’re ridesharing, you better drop the RIGHT address. Brightline doesn’t want you to guess your drop-off point. If you’re taking Uber, Lyft, or a private car, use this exact address: 10705 Jeff Fuqua Blvd, Orlando, FL 32827 ©Google That’ll put you right at the Brightline entrance. From there, just head up to Level 5 via elevator or escalator to access the train platform. Miss this and get dropped off at the wrong terminal? You’re looking at a solid hike (or another ride). Rule #3: Watch out for shuttle confusion. Not all shuttles take you directly to Brightline. In fact, none of them do unless you’re coming from WallyPark. Shared connect shuttles drop you at Terminal C, and from there it’s another 13-minute walk to the station. Same thing with the South Park Place Lot—you get a shuttle to Terminal C, then you’re on foot. ©WallyPark This isn’t a huge deal, but if you’re in a hurry or wrangling a lot of gear, that extra walk can be a dealbreaker. Build in the time so you’re not sprinting across the terminal with your coffee spilling everywhere. Rule #4: Know your station hours. The Brightline station at Orlando International is open every day from 4:00 AM to 12:15 AM. That means if your flight is delayed past midnight, or you’re hoping to catch a super early train, you need to double-check your timing. Brightline Orlando station Also: parking lots are open 24/7, but the station is not. So don’t plan to kill hours there overnight thinking it’ll be open—it won’t. Rule #5: Don’t roll in last minute. Even if you nailed your parking or your rideshare dropped you at the perfect spot, Brightline trains don’t wait. The station is gorgeous and sleek and feels a little like a spaceship terminal, but it’s still an airport-adjacent experience, meaning things can and will take longer than you expect. ©Brightline You’ll want to be parked, through the doors, and up at the station well before your departure time. Think 45–60 minutes ahead, just to be safe. So yeah, Brightline at Terminal C is a game-changer for getting to South Florida or the parks without driving. But just like everything else at MCO, you’ve gotta play by the rules if you want a smooth ride. We’re keeping tabs on everything happening at Terminal C and beyond, so stay tuned to DFB for all the latest updates. We still have a few weeks until that happens, but we are at Typhoon Lagoon for its grand reopening. Typhoon Lagoon is one of two water parks at Disney World. We were there first thing this morning for its opening, and so were lots of other people! There were some pretty big crowds around opening, but they quickly dispersed once the park opened. Waiting to go inside! Cast Members even wrote an adorable “Welcome Back!” message by Lagoona Gator. They even drew a palm tree and a sun! We thought it was so cute. We love it!
