  2. Yeah, yeah, yeah, we’ve been talking nonstop about Epic Universe, and we’re not going to stop anytime soon (#sorrynotsorry). It’s not every day a brand-new theme park comes along in Florida! Universal Helios Grand Hotel We can’t help it. Epic Universe is…well…EPIC. And there’s so much to talk about. Not only did this new theme park bring five NEW lands to Universal Orlando, but it also brought new food and new restaurants — which you KNOW we get excited about. Plus, if you stay at a Universal Orlando hotel, you get a SWEET perk: you can get into Epic Universe (and other Universal Orlando parks) an hour earlier than everyone else. Well, that early admission perk just got a DARK update. Okay, you see where we’re going with this, right? By DARK, we mean that you can now ride both rides in Dark Universe in Epic Universe with early admission. Yep, if you want to hop on Curse of the Werewolf or Monsters Unchained, you’ll have a chance to do it BEFORE the crowds arrive in the park (as long as you’re staying at a Universal Orlando hotel). Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment Other rides available for pre-admission include Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge, Yoshi’s Adventure, Mine-Cart Madness, Stardust Racers, and Constellation Carousel. At this time, early admission does not include rides in How To Train Your Dragon: Isle of Berk and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter — Ministry of Magic. Mine-Cart Madness Early admission also gets you into selected attractions at Universal Volcano Bay, Universal Studios Florida, and Universal Islands of Adventure. So keep that in mind if you’re booking a trip to Universal and want to get that special perk. Don’t want to go through all of the stress of booking your Epic Universe trip alone? Reach out to our friends at Small World Vacations! Their experienced agents monitor your reservation for possible future savings, compare discounts, and figure out which one works best for your travel party, dates, resort, and touring plans. 3. If you’re planning a trip to Disney World, you’ve already got a lot on your plate. You’ll need to figure out your budget, where you’re staying, how long you’re staying, what tickets you need, where to eat (SO important!), and more. The parks closed due to Hurricane Milton However, if you travel to Disney World in the summer, you have one more thing you need to think about: hurricane season. That’s because a tropical storm or hurricane could completely up-end your plans in Disney World. Not only will you need to plan for potentially rainy weather (that can close all outdoor rides), but you also have to deal with weather bad enough that Disney World could close its parks. Well, if you’re traveling to Disney World SOON, let’s just say hurricane season could be about to kick off in the Caribbean (which could mean a storm is headed to Florida). The 2025 Atlantic hurricane season begins in June and runs through November. Accuweather is now reporting that another new system could be developing in the Atlantic, specifically in the Caribbean Sea, just in time for the beginning of hurricane season. Magic Kingdom entrance the day after Hurricane Milton Meteorologists are specifically keeping an eye on a “pulse” of low pressure that is working its way from east to west across the planet. This pulse will move through the western Caribbean and southern Gulf during a time when moisture may develop. What does that mean? This means that it could lead to tropical development, which could become a tropical storm and eventually a hurricane. ©Accuweather So let’s talk about the timing of this storm development. Meteorologists believe that it could happen during an approximate time period from June 6th through 13th. If it does form, its path will depend on how fast it ramps up and the current wind direction at the time. It is expected to either make its way into the Gulf or drift towards Central America, Mexico, or Cuba before mid-June. Impacts to the Florida Keys could be expected June 10th through 13th, but the impact could be felt across Florida and the East Coast. ©Accuweather With all that said, though, even if this tropical development doesn’t develop as expected, heavy rain is still expected to fall across Florida, part of the Bahamas, Cuba, and Jamaica in early June, meaning your Disney World trip during that time could be very wet. This system will be stalling over the region, too, so expect LOTS of rain. Visitors leaving Magic Kingdom and EPCOT at the Transportation and Ticket Center If this storm does develop, its name will be Andrea. Note that the first tropical storm in the Pacific Ocean has already formed. That storm, Tropical Storm Alvin, is expected to weaken as it makes its way to the tip of the coast of Baja, California. We’ll be keeping an eye on the weather all summer and let you know if anything comes up that could impact your next Disney World trip. However, we recommend keeping an eye on the weather before you travel and make sure you research Disney’s hurricane cancelation policies. Stay tuned to DFB for more. 4. Universal’s Epic Universe has been earning rave reviews from many fans and theme park aficionados, however, the park is running into a few wait time issues few expected. Epic Universe Epic Universe has a stacked lineup of attractions, featuring exclusive new E-Tickets like Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experience and Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry, coasters like the thrilling Stardust Racers and the family-friendly Hiccup’s Wing Gliders, and an east coast installation of the popular Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge. However, the park’s lineup features an Achilles’ Heel that came to light over the park’s first weeks of operation. Epic Universe features 11 attractions over its four portals and Celestial Park, eight of which (Constellation Carousel, Curse of the Werewolf, Dragon Racer’s Rally, Fyre Drill, Hiccup’s Wing Gliders, Mine-Cart Madness, Stardust Racers, and Yoshi’s Adventure) are vulnerable to weather delays. Curse of the Werewolf While that’s nothing new for Orlando area theme parks — certainly many rides in Universal’s other parks as well as Walt Disney World’s four theme parks are operationally dependent on the weather — the fact that such a high percentage of Epic Universe’s attractions can be shut down by inclement weather looks to be an issue with the park, especially given what Orlando’s summer weather is like. Hiccup’s Wing Gliders This also puts an undue amount of stress on the park’s other three attractions — Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experience, Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry, and Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge — during bad weather. That’s especially an issue for the latter two, as both have wait issues of their own. Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry has faced wait time issues since the park was in previews. The ride has pivoted between a standby line and a virtual queue system, and has consistently had the park’s longest wait by far when using the latter. Weather issues haven’t helped. For example, on May 27th, the Potter line was closed because the ride was “at capacity” during a period when most of the park was unavailable due to weather. The Queue of Battle at the Ministry Meanwhile, despite being one of the few attractions that’s not unique to Epic Universe — there are clones in both Japan and Hollywood — Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge has faced wait time issues of its own, often having the park’s second-highest average wait according to our records. This could be do to the ride’s comparatively small capacity of ride vehicles and longer loading time. Bowser’s Challenge! Interestingly, rainy weather isn’t the only climate issue for the park. During periods with clear skies, all the rides may be open, BUT the park’s lack of shade-providing structures becomes even more stark in the sunlight. Celestial Park… in DIRECT sunlight. While Epic Universe may be a technological marvel, the park is still running into some issues in its early days. Stay tuned to DFB for more on Universal’s newest park. 5. Disney World fans know how much they have to use the My Disney Experience App on a trip! (Spoiler: a LOT) Cinderella Castle! My Disney Experience is the ultimate planning tool for Disney World. On the app, you’ll find posted wait times, a map, the skip-the-line Lightning Lane system, mobile order for dining, and more! You’ll also find all your tickets, passes, and photos on the app. So yeah, it’s THE Disney World tool! What we like about the My Disney Experience app is how much you can personalize your profile — and of course, that means choosing a Disney character to be your avatar. Disney has a wide range of characters you can select to represent your MyDisney profile. You might find your favorite character! Who else LOVES ‘Beauty and the Beast’? Let’s be honest about two things. First, we love finding a Disney character that represents us so well. How many times have you looked at a character and been like, “Yep, that’s literally me!“? Second, choosing your Disney character profile avatar is VERY important — it just is! How else can we learn about who you are? Oh, you chose Stitch as your character avatar? We immediately know you’re a FUN person to be around. Alice in EPCOT The only problem is, Disney can’t have EVERY character on the app — there are just too many. If you couldn’t find the Disney icon you wanted to represent you before, fear not, because Disney just dropped a whole bunch of NEW character avatars. We’re talking iconic characters, classic friends, and some evil villains! Take a look at the seventeen new Disney avatars you can select: Cruella De Ville Dr. Facilier Evil Queen Figment Gaston Hades Hercules Jafar Lady Tremaine Maleficent Queen of Hearts Red Panda Mei Mei Scar Stitch Tigger Ursula Pooh Bear If you’re choosing Cruella De Vil, we just KNOW you are a diva (in the BEST way!). ©Disney Now this is a great list of Disney icons! We’re already having trouble choosing our new avatar. You can’t help but ask yourself, how did some of these characters not make it on here before? Doesn’t matter, there here now! Anyone here instantly changing to this Winnie the Pooh icon? Hades? Ursula? We know those EPCOT lovers already have Figment as their new avatar! ©Disney The new characters are joining a TON of other classic Disney characters. You may already have made your decision long ago, and maybe you won’t be changing to anyone new. Disney princesses like Ariel, Belle, and Anna are great choices if you love Disney royalty. ©Disney You might have already committed to the Dark Side, so you’re stuck keeping Darth Vader as your profile icon (or maybe you just have dreams of ruling the galaxy). ©Disney There are so many Disney avatars, how do you even choose which one to be? ©Disney As you can see, you have a LOT of options! ©Disney We wonder how many guests will have hero icons, and how many will now have villain icons, since Disney has added so many new villains. Villain fans are thriving right now (we sure are), with a new show in Hollywood Studios, a land coming to Magic Kingdom, and now, new villain icons! ©Disney Seriously, though, how do you choose between Stitch, Pooh, Tinker Bell, and the rest?! Stitch! We’re loving the new avatars; now we just have to decide! For more Disney news and updates, be sure to follow us at the Disney Food Blog. 9. A NEW lounge is welcoming guests at EPCOT! The new GEO-82 is home to upscale eats and drinks during the day, plus a fireworks experience so you can have the ultimate vantage point of Luminous: The Symphony of Us on the World Showcase Lagoon. GEO-82! While there is a special fireworks experience, you can still visit the lounge to see the view even without doing the pricey special experience. We got the chance to check out this adults-only (21 and up) bar during the fireworks, and we’re sharing what you need to know about the VIEW! Now you can’t really see World Showcase Lagoon itself from here, but luckily, the best parts are all very visible up in the air — you aren’t missing anything! Not to mention, you don’t have to stand and fight for a spot around World Showcase. You’re inside with delicious food and drink, and most importantly, AIR CONDITIONING. Luminous There’s also the GEO-82 Fireworks Experience! Because this is an Enchanting Extra, it costs $179 per person, plus tax and gratuity. You’ll be able to arrive at the lounge 60 minutes before Luminous starts, and you’ll need to make advanced reservations on the Disney World website. We also found out that the tables closest to the windows will be reserved for those who booked the fireworks experience. All of the tables and booths closer to the inside of the lounge will be held for regular reservations…which means you can be there during fireworks! It won’t be the best view, but it’s a way to be able to order what you want and still look out those panoramic windows. Stunning The price includes champagne in a Spaceship Earth-inspired glass (which will also be available for purchase), a dessert plate, and a food tower which features charcuterie, deviled eggs with crisp duck prosciutto, and pimento cheese macarons. 10. We have been eagerly awaiting this moment ever since a new Spaceship Earth lounge was announced! It is finally time to step foot inside and explore everything GEO-82 has to offer. ©Disney We first learned about this new lounge in August 2024, and now it is less than one week away from its grand opening. We had the opportunity to get a first look inside this new space before its official opening, and, of course, we are bringing you along with us! GEO-82 will open in EPCOT on June 4th, 2025. The name is a nostalgic nod to Spaceship Earth, which opened in 1982. Inside the lounge, be prepared to be immersed in the history and legacy of this EPCOT icon. An important note that this lounge is ONLY for guests who are 21 years and older. Unfortunately, kids will not be allowed inside the space. GEO-82! The lounge was announced as a sleek space inspired by “the stories, shapes, and enduring legacy” of Spaceship Earth. It will feature geometric shapes, rich textures, and warm metallic tones to offer a relaxing space for guests. You can find Geo-82 near the back of the Spaceship Earth attraction. Without further ado, let’s take a look inside GEO-82! Look at this entrance! This space certainly does remind us of Spaceship Earth, so we say it gets 5/5 stars for that decoration choice! The main seating area of this space has plenty of comfortable chairs and booths, and it pairs fantastically with all the gorgeous lighting. Wow! The bar is also gorgeous — just look at all those gold accents! The bar! There are some darker areas of the lounge here as well, so if you’d like to sit somewhere a little less open, that is an option! Away from the windows GEO-82 is giving us some good first impressions! We can’t wait to explore this space more and try some of the food and drink options. Disney has promised “global flavors blended with culinary artistry in classic cocktails and small plates,” and we can’t wait to provide you with reviews. We can’t wait to try all there is on the menu! You can find drinks including the Caramelized Leek Martini, Brown Butter Old Fashioned, and Strawberry-Black Pepper Sour. Bar Moonshine This bar is a small walk-in bar with several drinks inspired by the films from the Fantastic Beasts series! It is also a full bar with some more familiar options as well. During our visit, we tried the Gigglewater for $13. The Gigglewater! This was an amber shimmering elderflower prosecco spritz! First, it’s hard to tell in the photos, but this was so wonderfully sparkly. It caught the light several times while we had it, making it even more beautiful. A closer look at the sparkles. This drink was an absolute favorite for us! It was light and sippable while still being on the sweeter side. It was syrupy sweet, and it had the perfect amount of bubbles. It did lack a bit of that elderflower flavor, but honestly, we didn’t mind it. It was so tasty! We would absolutely get this again and again (which we did)! It’s not the most adventurous or unique drink, but it was a great, slightly familiar drink to enjoy throughout the day. In the films, Gigglewater makes the person drinking it laugh out loud uncontrollably, and while this one didn’t do that, we did giggle because of how much we loved it. This drink is another reason why we’ve fallen in love with Bar Moonshine! We’ve also tested out the Lobe Blaster, which you can see our review of here. Lobe Blaster This is just another thing at Epic Universe that we love, and we can’t wait to test out even more at the new Universal theme park. 15. When it comes to dining options in Disney World, there are so many to choose from, including A LOT of options in the general EPCOT resort area. BoardWalk Inn Now, if you’re looking for breakfast in this area, you may want to head to Trattoria al Forno. We recently made a visit to see what breakfast is like there now. So let’s go! Atmosphere Note that breakfast at Trattoria al Forno was once a character breakfast, the Bon Voyage Adventure Breakfast, which featured Disney couples like Rapunzel and Flynn Rider and Ariel and Eric. However, the character dining experience here has been closed since 2020. So what you get now is just breakfast sans characters. Trattoria al Forno Once we arrived, we checked in at the main desk and waited for our table. Check in here The waiting area almost feels like an old Italian couple’s living room, complete with family photos on the wall. Waiting The vibe inside the restaurant is modern Italian, and the dining space is full of dark wood and red accents with gold lighting fixtures. Lots of browns and reds The space also features an open kitchen where you can watch Disney chefs work their magic. Open kitchen Vintage photos adorn the walls. Wall decor Plenty of seating is available, including standard tables and chairs, as well as booths. Plenty of seating But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?! Menu The theme here is Italian, with breakfast serving up “old world favorites.” You’ll find traditional breakfast foods here, but many have an Italian twist. Beverages include wine and sangria, as well as some cocktails, coffee, and non-alcoholic beverages The menu And now, onto the main event — the food! Eats First up, we grabbed the Al Forno Eggs for $17. This is a plate of Brick Oven-roasted Cage-free Eggs, Polenta, Fennel Sausage, Spiced Tomato Sauce, and Country Bread. This is a hearty platter with lots of different textures and flavors. We like how the polenta adds a grainy texture to the eggs. The fennel sausage is chopped into small pieces and adds some meatiness and herbiness to each bite. Al Forno Eggs The spiced tomato sauce had a nice, rich flavor, and although the description doesn’t include cheese, we could’ve sworn there was Parmesan cheese on top. The bread is crispy and tastes like sourdough — that crispiness works great with the soft egg mixture. Great flavors and textures How could we resist the Oak-grilled Steak and Eggs for $21? It’s served with Sunny-side Up Eggs, Breakfast Potatoes, Crispy Onions, and Hollandaise Sauce. We ordered our steak medium, and it was well-cooked on the outside with some red in the middle. You get a pretty good portion of steak, which has a really nice char and smokiness to it. It was also chewy and tender. Oak-grilled Steak and Eggs The potatoes are lightly seasoned with a nice golden exterior — they’re soft on the inside and are the perfect complement to the steak. The crispy onions add a nice crunchiness. Perfectly cooked For a lighter option, we ordered the Freshly Harvested Fruit with Honey Yogurt for $15 with Fresh Berries and House-made Granola. The fruit included raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, kiwi, and apples. The fruit was fresh, and you could tell by the taste. The yogurt tastes like plain yogurt, but the honey drizzle on top gives it some sweetness. Freshly harvested fruit with honey yogurt The granola is crispy and crunchy and has both nuts and oats in it. If you’re looking for something light for breakfast, this could be quite satisfying because it’s such a good portion size. Fresh fruit Okay, let’s not forget about drinks! Drinks To drink, we got the Watermelon No-Jito for $5.99. It tastes just like a watermelon mojito, even without the alcohol. You get a light flavor of watermelon with notes of lime and mint. It’s fizzy, sweet, and refreshing, and a great dupe of a mojito without the alcohol. Watermelon No-Jito We also tried the Peach Bellini, made with Ruffino Prosecco with White Peach Purée for $15.50. This drink is just PEACHY. No, really. But first, be sure to give it a good stir because the peach furée falls to the bottom. The prosecco is smooth with a hint of bitterness, but the big flavor here is the peach. It’s a nice light drink that’s perfect for breakfast. Peach Bellini If we had one complaint, it’s that it’s pretty small, considering its price. Nosh or Not This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if… You’re staying in the EPCOT resort area. Trattoria al Forno is located on Disney’s BoardWalk, so it’s an easy breakfast if you’re staying in the area. You want a table service breakfast experience. This is a table service restaurant, and breakfast here is a more leisurely meal. You like big breakfasts. Although this is not a buffet, portion sizes for everything we got here were sizable and enough to satisfy big breakfast eaters. You should skip this Disney World spot if… You’re not staying in the area. This is not necessarily a restaurant we’ll tell you to run to if you’re not staying in the area. You want a character dining breakfast. As we previously stated, the character dining experience at this breakfast has been gone since 2020, and it’s starting to look like it’s not coming back. You want a quick breakfast. If you want something quick, you’ll want to grab breakfast at one of the many quick-service spots in the area instead. Full spread Overall We’re still not sure why Disney decided not to bring back the character dining breakfast here (although there’s one in the area at Cape May Cafe), but breakfast at Trattoria al Forno is still a pretty solid choice if you’re looking for a table service breakfast with hearty choices. In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disney World and beyond. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more! 16. A change is coming to Disney’s Hawaiian resort! Mickey Shave Ice at Aulani ©Disney Aulani, the company’s resort in Ko Olina, Hawaii, recently confirmed some alterations to its housekeeping policy, which went into effect at the end of May. As of May 28th, Aulani Resort will offer room cleaning services — including bed making, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning of bathroom(s), kitchen/kitchenette and washing the dishes, removal of trash and towels, as well as replenishment of towels and amenities — every other day of a rental guests’ stay. Furthermore, bed sheets will be scheduled to be changed every four nights, or upon request. The bathroom Housekeeping services for Disney Vacation Club Members staying on Member Points or Member Cast Discounts remain the same and are not affected by this change. In addition, guests may request daily housekeeping services (with service beginning the following day) if they desire. Now, let’s check out the bedroom! According to Disney, this change is in support of Disney’s sustainability and environmental impact initiatives, while also addressing guest privacy and improving efficiency in operations, allowing for a “more personalized service.” Aulani, which opened in 2011, features over 350 hotel rooms plus over 400 Disney Vacation Club Villas. According to legendary Imagineer Joe Rohde, who grew up in Hawaii and was the creative head on the project, “The resort was designed to reflect the sense of a Hawaiian valley opening out toward the ocean from highlands to lowlands. This organization has many connotations. One is the ahupua’a, the traditional organization of land that followed a watershed from the mountains to the sea and knitted all members of the community together in a working relationship and a functional sustainable relationship to the land. Another is a Hawaiian concept of time itself as flowing – like fresh water – from the past, which is in the mountains, to the future, which is in the sea. The architectural statements of Aulani tend to follow this organizational layout. You know, of course, that Waikolohe means “mischievous water.” That name is simply meant to connote the playful aspect of the springs, which spray you from unexpected directions, and the presence of the Menehune. It is true that, along this part of the O’ahu coast, fresh water comes from springs, and we wanted to reflect that but in a fun, mischievous way.” Aulani Disney’s Aulani Resort’s housekeeping policies are changing. 19. Disney Springs is one of our favorite places to stop when we’re not spending time in the parks — especially because you don’t need a park ticket! The Polite Pig And, The Polite Pig happens to be one of our favorite places to stop while we’re there! Don’t let this quick-service barbecue spot fool you; it’s some of the absolute best food on the entire Disney World property. We recently stopped by to grab a new cocktail, and we’re SO glad we did. We stopped by The Polite Pig at Disney Springs to check out their new drink for the summer — the Pig Lagoon! It’s made with lemon, lime, coconut cream, and blue Curacao syrup, and you can get it with or without rum. First of all, how ADORABLE is this?! The Pig Lagoon We’re kind of obsessed with this. It basically just tastes like lemonade and rum, but we sometimes find rum drinks to be really strong on the rum side — this isn’t. You get that tartness from the lemon and lime that kind of scrunches up your face, and like the rum, you can taste it at the end of each sip, but it’s not overpowering. If you are trying to get into rum, this is probably a good drink to try since it’s not so strong. We’re obsessed We would totally recommend this to someone looking for a sweeter, tropical cocktail that just so happens to be super cute. It comes with this little pig, like other cocktails we’ve seen at The Polite Pig (like the Pigsty), and that’s just an added bonus. No, 3rd. Oh, it’s so good. It’s almost like a blue raspberry lemonade. We would absolutely get this again — but it did turn our reporter’s mouth blue, so keep that in mind! OINK And, if you’re looking for another drink with a fun friend in it, stop by The BOATHOUSE for the Duck Duck Razz! We’ll be on the lookout for even more new drinks to review, so you know what’s worth your money! In the meantime, stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news. 20. Disney Stores aren’t as common around malls, outdoor shopping districts, and everything in between anymore, with the 2021 announced store closures, which makes us a little sad. Times Square Disney Store (2021) Now, if you want to grab some of your favorite merchandise, it’s much easier to hop onto the Disney Store website, or even go to Disney World or Disneyland to get what you’re looking for. However, we’ve got AMAZING news for Disney fans over in London — a new pop-up shop is opening this summer! It was recently announced that a limited-time Disney Store will open in Westfield White City in June, but there’s a catch — it’ll be full of Lilo & Stitch merchandise to celebrate the new film! ©Fandango You’ll be able to grab summer essentials like bathing suits, towels, apparel, and more. Opening ceremonies will also take place each day at the store, and you’ll get the chance to admire sculpted icons of beloved Disney characters inside the store. The launch of the store will also include a “magical moment for guests,” but what exactly that is under wraps for now. ©Disney When talking about the opening of the store, Enda Kelly, VP of Disney Store, said, “We look forward to welcoming fans of all ages to step into a world of wonder, play, and magical moments this June. Westfield welcomes over 27 million visitors each year at White City, and we hope to bring everyone from first-time visitors to our dedicated fans a chance to experience Disney’s magic.” ©Disney Be sure to stay tuned to DFB for all the latest Disney news all around the world! 3 HUGE Theme Parks Have FAILED in Abu Dhabi. 21. What if there were secret MAPS to help you escape Disney World crowds?! Magic Kingdom The parks can get seriously crowded, especially during holidays, school breaks, or the summertime. And during those days, we often find ourselves looking for shortcuts to avoid those packed main walkways. Today, we’re sharing some helpful maps that will guide you to the best secret pathways to avoid crowds! Africa-Pandora walkway; Asia-Africa secret path; Tron-Storybook path; Emporium path; Oasis rope bridge; Frontierland boardwalk; Tree of Life trails (with caveat that they’re not all open atm), friendship boats The Secret Africa-Asia Path Starting this series of maps out in Animal Kingdom, we have one of our favorite secret pathways, because it’s typically EMPTY! There’s a small path that ventures through the woods between Africa and Asia, with an entrance near Caravan Road. This one is often empty! This path crosses over some lovely creeks, and there’s even a hidden seating area on the Asia side. You’ll be able to skip the busy main walkway if you take this side road. Discovery Island Trails Some truly underrated shortcuts are the Discovery Island Trails, which wind around the Tree of Life. Currently, part of these trails are closed due to construction on the Tree of Life Theater (where the new Zootopia show will be going). These pathways might be partially closed during your visit. Right now, the best way to utilize these pathways is to enter at the Tree of Life Garden sign, OR over by the Russell and Dug meet-and-greet. You’ll be able to cut off the main parts of Discovery Island, and you’ll get some stunning up-close views of the park’s icon along the way. Photo op, anyone? Skip the Lap Around World Showcase If you’re trying to cut halfway across World Showcase in one leap or you just don’t want to walk through every pavilion again, you can take the Friendship Boats! This boat service starts at 11AM and runs until a little after 7PM (it has to close before fireworks). An underrated gem! There used to be boats that ran on both sides of the World Showcase, but only one leg reopened after the pandemic. You can currently ride across the lagoon from near Canada to Morocco. The TRON Shortcut When TRON Lightcycle / Run opened in Magic Kingdom, we got this great shortcut that goes underneath the roller coaster. It connects Storybook Circus (near the Walt Disney World Railroad station) to Tomorrowland — coming out by the TRON entrance. This gives you a great view of TRON! This path is partially shaded, has some great benches that are often vacant, and gives you a nice view of the coaster during its outdoor leg. We highly recommend it over taking the crowded main path that travels past Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe. Frontierland Boardwalk We may not get to use it much longer with the changes coming to Frontierland, but the Frontierland boardwalk is a favorite of ours during parade time. This wooden walkway runs along the Rivers of America and helps you avoid the crowds lining the street before and during the Festival of Fantasy parade. We might not have this one for much longer. It’s also a great shortcut to use if the main walkway is just busy with crowds. You get a nice view of the water, and you can often use it to take the fastest path to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. A Classic Shortcut If you’ve been a Disney World visitor for a few years, you probably know all about the shortcut through The Emporium. This massive gift shop connects the castle hub area to the Town Square area of Main Street, U.S.A. — and you don’t even have to set foot on the street! A classic shortcut! If there are people lined up down the street for a parade or fireworks show, you can simply avoid the crowds by cutting through Casey’s Corner and The Emporium. Warning — this one doesn’t work as well AFTER the fireworks or parades because it gets super crowded in the gift shops at that time. The Scenic Route Perhaps one of the prettiest pathways on this list is the walkway between Pandora and Africa in Animal Kingdom. This pathway starts at the back of Pandora near Satu’li Canteen and ends near Festival of the Lion King. It can get pretty busy around showtimes for that theater, but other than that, it’s usually empty. This walkway is beautiful. Along the way, you’ll walk beside the Discovery River and get to stroll in the shade of the trees. It’s truly lovely! These pathways can be a lifesaver when it’s particularly crowded in the parks — you’ll navigate Disney World like a PRO! For more Disney World tips, check out the video below. This is a party, so dance along to upbeat music with your family and soak in the excitement of setting sail in a vibe that screams, “We’re going on vacation!” The highlight of the celebration is the countdown to the ship’s departure, culminating in the iconic whistle, playing “When You Wish Upon a Star,” signaling the official start of your magical sailing. Bon Voyage! Take in Nightly Live Shows at The Walt Disney Theatre Whether it’s your first night or your final evening at sea, there’s nothing quite like the thrill of finding your seat, hearing the music swell, and watching the lights dim as the curtain rises on a Disney Cruise Line stage show. Each production in the state-of-the-art Walt Disney Theatre is a front-row seat to pure enchantment, transforming your surroundings to put you in the heart of the action. To view your nightly live shows on the Disney Wish, head to Deck 3 or 4 to enter the Walt Disney Theatre. We suggest visiting Preludes on Deck 3 to grab a few essential snacks. Your show time will depend on whether you have chosen the main or second seating for dinner. Check the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app for your rotational dining time. Start With Seas the Adventure See Captain Minnie in action behind the ship’s wheel as she sets sail on a musical revue to commemorate your first day on the high seas. “Seas the Adventure” sets the scene with Captain Minnie asking Goofy to steer the ship for a bit. While he attempts to read the map upside-down (because of course he does), Tinker Bell gets involved and soon we’re transported on a musical adventure — swimming to the depths with Crush and “Finding Nemo” friends, going into the unknown with Elsa, taking aim with Merida, and wayfinding with Moana. Soon, Tiana, Hercules, and some surprise Disney characters show up to help Goofy get the ship back on course. At a length of about 30 minutes, this show is the perfect introduction to theatre for little ones. And pro-tip for kids of all ages; this is your chance to rock out with a stage full of Disney characters singing along to “Zootopia’s “Try Everything.” Dive in with The Little Mermaid Go under the sea without leaving the ship in this immersive, Broadway-style production created exclusively for the Disney Wish. At the Walt Disney Theatre, “The Little Mermaid” brings Ariel’s world to life like never before. This whimsical tale unfolds as a group of storytellers discovers an enchanted treasure chest, unlocking a story with a reimagined script and jaw-dropping visual effects that will leave the whole family speechless. Contemporary costumes, puppetry, playful scenic designs, and cutting-edge video projections transform the Walt Disney Theatre into a 360-degree undersea world. Fall in love with the music all over again, featuring new orchestrations of favorites like “Part of Your World,” “Poor Unfortunate Souls,” “Under the Sea,” and an all-new rendition of “Kiss the Girl.” Take Flight with Disney’s Aladdin — A Musical Spectacular “Disney’s Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular” on the Disney Wish is a must-see, Broadway-style show packed with energy, humor, and stunning visuals. This Walt Disney Theatre production features elaborate sets, dazzling costumes, and jaw-dropping special effects. This is a can’t-miss event for Aladdin fans, with all the sparkling humor and romance of the film, plus, lots of new jokes for Genie and Princess Jasmine’s solo, “To Be Free.” The Genie steals the show with laugh-out-loud jokes and show-stopping numbers, while audience interaction puts you right in the story. With magical illusions, dynamic puppetry, and a few surprises overhead and in the aisles, “Disney’s Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular” is a spectacular retelling of the classic film for seasoned and new fans alike. Chill With Live Piano at Nightingale’s At Nightingale’s, you’ll enjoy the music of a live piano player inside an ode to the classic Cinderella song, “Sing Sweet Nightingale.” Located just off the Grand Hall on Deck 3, this refined, adults-only lounge offers a serene retreat with plush velvet seating, soft metallic hues, and a stunning chandelier shaped like musical notes and bubbles—a nod to Cinderella’s melody. Become the Star at Luna It’s time for your close-up! For those who want to get on stage, Luna is the place to be. Here you’ll find the Disney Wish’s dazzling entertainment constellation, where families don’t just watch the show—they become the stars. This two-story lounge glows like a celestial stage, with its massive LED screen wall lighting up every moment of fun and games. Whether you’re orbiting around laughs at “Villains Game Night” as Disney’s most infamous baddies crash your trivia showdown or going full supernova at “Disney Songbook Starring You” karaoke, Luna turns your night into a galaxy of unforgettable memories. Grab a cosmic cocktail, take your place in the spotlight, and prepare to shine—because at Luna, every family is part of the show, and the sky is the limit. Rock Out at the Pirate Night Deck Party It’s time to put your hands (and hooks) together, because Pirate Night aboard the Disney Wish rocks out with “Pirate’s Rockin’ Parlay Party,” a 30-minute deck show led by Captain Redd and her band, the Scallywags. This rock-and-roll concert at sea features classic hits like “We’re Not Gonna Take It” and a rock-and-roll-themed rendition of “Yo Ho (A Pirate’s Life for Me).” Soon, Captain Jack Sparrow himself stumbles in as soon as Redd mentions the possibility of treasure. The show culminates in a spectacular fireworks display over the sea, set to the iconic “Pirates of the Caribbean” music. Celebrate at Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure Yoo Hoo! Bring your appetite and enthusiasm, because you have been cordially invited to celebrate Queen Anna and Kristoff’s engagement. As part of the rotational dining experiences included in your cruise, Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure offers both a Norwegian-inspired menu and lots of opportunities to ask about building snowmen. Oaken’s “Hearty Party Planning Service… and Sauna” is throwing a royal party full of live guitar, song, and dance from appetizer to dessert. Set in theatre-in-the-round with a stage in the middle of the dining room; guests are encouraged to be part of the show. You can help celebrate the big occasion by clapping, singing along, toasting Anna and Kristoff, and even dancing around the dining room to “Love is an Open Door.” During this interactive dinner show, characters like Elsa, Oaken, and Olaf will roam the venue, greeting engagement party guests among the tables. Say Goodnight Together in the Grand Hall “Oh, my goodness… it’s midnight!” Just as Cinderella Castle is the dramatic centerpiece of “The Kiss Goodnight” in Magic Kingdom, this version at sea is often considered by fans as a performance put on by the ship itself. Here in the Grand Hall, the Disney Wish invites guests to sing together to “So This is Love” from Disney’s “Cinderella” and enjoy the twinkling chandelier and dramatic lighting changes in blue and white, à la Cinderella’s iconic gown. Participating as a group in this quiet moment is a sweet way to bring guests together. 23. Disney shocked the theme park community this past spring when the company announced that they were teaming with the Miral Group to bring their first Middle East-based theme park to Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. ©Disney The new park will be located on Yas Island, with Disney and Miral having a similar agreement to the one that Disney has long had with the Oriental Land Company in Japan. Meaning that the new resort will be developed and built by Miral, with Disney and its Imagineers leading creative design and operational oversight. While that has been a recipe for success for Tokyo Disneyland, things may be a bit trickier in the UAE. When the announcement of agreement was made, Disney CEO Bob Iger was nothing but positive, saying, “This is a thrilling moment for our company as we announce plans to build an exciting Disney theme park resort in Abu Dhabi, whose culture is rich with an appreciation of the arts and creativity. As our seventh theme park destination, it will rise from this land in spectacular fashion, blending contemporary architecture with cutting-edge technology to offer guests deeply immersive entertainment experiences in unique and modern ways. Disneyland Abu Dhabi will be authentically Disney and distinctly Emirati – an oasis of extraordinary Disney entertainment at this crossroads of the world that will bring to life our timeless characters and stories in many new ways and will become a source of joy and inspiration for the people of this vast region to enjoy for generations to come.” ©Disney While Iger’s comments set the project up to be an immediate success, history says differently. This new Disney project isn’t the first major theme park to be announced for the United Arab Emirates over the course of the last few decades. Some have succeeded, some have failed, and some (including three from industry leaders) were never even built. Most notably, Disney’s biggest rival, Universal, announced a UAE park in Dubai in 2007. According to the company, they would be teaming with the then-government-owned developer Tatweer to build a 20,000,000 square foot park known as Universal Dubailand. The park was planned to have attractions based on Universal mainstays, including Ghostbusters, Jurassic Park, Sesame Street, King Kong, Men In Black, and The Mummy. Ground was actually broken on the park in an elaborate ceremony in 2008, which included a massive Universal arch. However, construction quickly stalled due to that year’s global financial crisis and never started again. The project hung in limbo for years, until Universal officially confirmed the project as dead in 2016. ©Arabian Business At the same time in 2007, Six Flags also announced they were partnering with Tatweer to build a 5 million square foot theme park in Dubai. The company’s then-President Mark Shapiro said at the time that, “Expanding Six Flags beyond our current North American borders validates the growing strength and momentum of our brand.” Much like Universal’s park, the 2008 financial crisis hit the Six Flags plan hard, as plans for the park stalled and construction never began. Apparently undeterred, Six Flags announced another planned Dubai park in 2014. This time, the development was to be in collaboration with Dubai Holding subsidiary Meraas Leisure and Entertainment. Construction actually began on the 27-ride park in 2016, with a planned opening set for 2019. However, financial issues once again hampered the project, and the project was canceled in 2019. ©Six Flags || Magic Mountain While these Universal and Six Flags failures may seem like bad news for Disney’s UAE park, the Mouse House has something their rivals did not: Miral. Currently, the company operates 4 mostly indoor theme parks on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi: Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, SeaWorld Abu Dhabi, Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi, and Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi. These parks — all of which are primarily indoors, allowing them to be open year-round — helped Yas Island draw more than 38 million visits in 2024, a 10% increase on the previous year. Given these results, it’s perhaps unsurprising that Disneyland Abu Dhabi will be at least partially enclosed. ©Disney Disney’s announcement that they were working with the Miral Group to bring a new theme park and resort to Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates has surpassed many due to the history of failed theme park projects in the region, along with other political differences. We will be keeping a close eye on the project and will let you know any and all updates. 26. The Savannah Bananas recently visited Disneyland! Savannah Bananas at Disneyland On May 28th, 2025, Disneyland filled with a special cavalcade, themed food and beverages, and more to celebrate this wacky baseball team. We checked out one of the special treats as part of this celebration, and to be honest, we’re kind of glad it was only around for a little while. As part of this celebration, Harbour Galley was offering their iconic chocolate chip cookies with a twist! You could get a side of Whipped Banana Dip to go with the cookies for $1.39. A 6-pack of cookies will run you $6.79, and they’re pretty darn popular! Harbour Galley Cookies with whipped banana dip You can never go wrong with a 6-pack of fresh chocolate chip cookies from Harbour Galley! There’s almost always a specialty whipped dip to add on that you can grab, too! The first thing we noticed was just how bright yellow the dip was — we definitely weren’t expecting that! If you want highlighter fingers… this dip will make your dreams come true! In all seriousness, though, the taste is definitely more of an artificial banana flavor, but it is pretty light. This WILL stain your fingers When combined with the chocolate chip cookies, we liked the banana flavor even less. The two just didn’t really seem to go together, which is a bummer because we were hoping this would be a winning combination. Not our favorite combo While we didn’t love the banana dip, we still thought this was a fun addition to the iconic Harbour Galley Cookies and hope that we get to see even more dips like this one at the park! In the meantime, don’t forget to stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest news and more. Want to Learn More About Disneyland? Check Out the Links Below! 27. During the Disneyland 70th Anniversary Celebration, guests can “celebrate happy” for a limited time with new and returning entertainment, festive décor and of course, themed food and beverages. If you’re anything like us, our favorite snacks at Disneyland through the years can call back some of our most treasured memories of The Happiest Place on Earth. Perhaps you’re thinking of a distant memory in the ’60s, walking up to a pirate ship to — as pirates obviously do — order a tuna sandwich. Maybe you’re calling back a hazy scene under the lights of Videopolis in the ‘80s, wondering if that really happened (oh, it did). Or maybe you remember sitting down to dinner at Disneyland Park in the ‘90s; your mom tucking your napkin into your shirt and a plate of Beef Stroganoff headed your way. With so many decades of rich history, you can bet that the chefs at Disneyland Resort have tapped into the power of snacking to dust off those memories with some new creations, and they’ve even combed through past recipes for inspiration to create modern spins on classic eats. Here is your guide to time traveling the only way we know how at Disney Eats … by food. For the full lineup of the nostalgic foods, new eats and dazzling sips at the celebration, see the Disney Eats Disneyland 70th Anniversary Foodie Guide. A Few of Walt’s Favorites  He’d tell you it was all started by a mouse, but it was Walt Disney himself that opened Disneyland Park back in 1955. Putting a few of his favs on the 70th menu is one way we can honor him during our anniversary celebration. Here are a few new dishes inspired by Walt’s love for chili, pie, and of course, mouse ears. Mickey Hat Cookie  Find it at: Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe and Market House in Disneyland Park Vintage-Inspired Flavors: Cookie dipped in chocolate with a chocolate decoration. These cookies utilize a design reminiscent of the mouse ear hat made popular by the Mickey Mouse Club television series in 1955. You might not be required to sing, “M-I-C-K-E-Y’ between bites, but we won’t discourage it. Chili Cheese Corn Dog  Find it at: Corn Dog Castle in Disney California Adventure Park Vintage-Inspired Flavors: Corn dog topped with chili, shredded cheddar, and corn chips Chili is a known favorite of Walt’s, with one of his recipes preserved in the Walt Disney Archives dating to 1958. Over the years, Disney chefs have refined the recipe and continue to serve “Walt’s Chili” for park guests around the world. This chili corn dog is the perfect vehicle for a heapin’ helpin’ of Walt’s homestyle favorite. W.E.D. Chili Cheese Baked Potato  Find it at: Troubadour Tavern in Disneyland Park Vintage-Inspired Flavors: Baked potato topped with beef & bean chili, cheese, sour cream, diced onions, and cornbread. Walt enjoyed simple and comforting food, and this dish fits the bill. It’s named after WED Enterprises, the company Walt founded in 1952 to help create Disneyland. Today, WED Enterprises is known as Walt Disney Imagineering, and we are known as people who are about to eat this potato. Lemon Chiffon Pretzel  Find it at: Pretzels near Star Tours – The Adventures Continue Vintage-Inspired Flavors: Cream cheese-filled pretzel dipped in lemon-flavored icing topped with crushed vanilla wafer. Walt famously loved pie and one slice of choice was lemon chiffon pie with a graham cracker crust. Today, take in Tomorrowland’s futuristic views while pulling apart this literal twist on one of Walt’s favorite desserts. New Bites Inspired by Casa de Fritos What we’re looking at here is not only the Frito Kid, but also a chip vending mechanism — the perfect combination of surreal Disneyland foodie fun in 1955 that formed memories in the minds of kids everywhere. The Casa de Fritos was located where Rancho del Zocalo Restaurante currently serves up classic Mexican cuisine. For the Disneyland 70th Celebration, the menu includes the following two takes on Casa de Frito classics. Fried Tamale Walking Taco  Find it at: Rancho Del Zocalo Restaurante in Disneyland Park Vintage-Inspired Flavors: Fried beef tamale with chili, corn chips, and diced onions with cilantro, shredded cheese, and sour cream. This dish is a fusion of two items once served at Casa de Fritos in Frontierland: A Ta-cup and a Frito Chili Pie. The Ta-cup was an open-faced taco housed in a fried corn tortilla. Both items were early favorites at Casa de Fritos, so their descendant is likely to be a big hit. Mocha Cream Puff  Find it at: Rancho Del Zocalo Restaurante in Disneyland Park Vintage-Inspired Flavors: Cream puff filled with cinnamon-mocha pastry cream topped with chocolate-covered corn chips. Yes, we said chocolate-covered corn chips. Using the classic corn chip as a topping on a sweet dessert offers the right amount of sweet and savory flavor combo that will have you trying to remember the last time you had something this good. Tropical Nods to Tahitian Terrace  In 1962, the Tahitian Terrace opened in Adventureland, offering the live entertainment of the Royal Tahitian Dancers and a menu inspired by the flavors of the South Seas. Guests who visited the park in those days might remember visiting until midnight, peering over a menu at a parting curtain of water or a fire dancer nearby. To remember this literal hot spot, let’s dance over to Carnation Café and Bengal Barbecue for a couple of new delights. Tropical Rum Cocktail  Find it at: Carnation Café in Disneyland Park Vintage-Inspired Flavors: Bacardi Superior Rum, Myers’s Rum Original Dark, Pineapple, Orange & Lime Juices, and Grenadine. Raise a glass to Tahitian Terrace with the bright tropical flavors of this classic drink that may remind you of past vacations in the sun, palms swaying in the breeze, cocktail in hand. Grilled Tahitian Ribs   Find it at: Bengal Barbecue in Disneyland Park Vintage-Inspired Flavors: Ribs served with white rice and pineapple slaw. Succulent ribs with pineapple and rice appeared on the original Tahitian Terrace menu, and we’re so glad to see the modern version at Bengal Barbecue. Nostalgic Carnation Inspirations  Carnation Ice Cream Parlor opened on July 17, 1955, complete with an ice cream counter where guests could try the latest creamy cool treats right on Main Street, U.S.A. Today, guests can experience a few callbacks to their favorites, both savory and sweet. Beef Stroganoff  Find it at: Carnation Café in Disneyland Park Vintage-Inspired Flavors: Braised Beef, Bacon, Onions, and Mushrooms over Egg Noodles. A delectable Beef Stroganoff was offered on the Carnation Café menu in the 1990s. If the rad memory of this savory mountain of pasta and beef has stuck with you since the days of Darkwing Duck, give this latest version a try.  Banana Split  Find it at: Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor in Disneyland Park Vintage-Inspired Flavors: Vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry ice creams topped with strawberries, pineapple, hot fudge, fresh banana, chopped nuts, whipped cream, and a cherry. The Victorian Banana Split was a favorite at Carnation Ice Cream Parlor in Disneyland Park beginning in 1955. We consulted with the original Carnation Ice Cream Parlor menu, and it can be found today at the Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor hosted by Dreyer’s, and this banana split is so very close to the original, making it the perfect sugary treat to transport you to another time. Banana Split Churro  Find it at: Churros near Goofy’s Sky School in Disney California Adventure Park Vintage-Inspired Flavors: Classic churro rolled in cocoa powder with banana and strawberry sauces garnished with whipped topping, crushed peanuts, and a cherry. The latest in-carnation of the Victorian banana split, this modern treat takes the banana split to new heights and to the churro-lovers out there. If you’re looking for your next churro to check off the list, this is certainly the most ap-peeling. Party Like it’s 1955  The foodie landscape at the park in 1955 played on the adventurous spirit of guests and pirates alike. With so many new foodie inventions in the past 70 years, Disney chefs enjoyed taking a look back and recreating some of those mid-century recipes. Here are a couple of bites that harken back to that first summer at Disneyland. Hook’s Galley Tuna Melt  Find it at: Red Rose Taverne in Disneyland Park Vintage-Inspired Flavors: Fresh tuna salad topped with Muenster and herb-marinated tomatoes served with house chips. In August 1955, shortly after Disneyland opened, the Chicken of the Sea Pirate Ship and Restaurant in Fantasyland offered tuna sandwiches. Guests could enjoy both photo opportunities at the ship’s wheel and sandwich oppor-tuna-ties inside. Chicken of the Sea Pirate Ship and Restaurant became Captain Hook’s Galley in 1969 (and later closed in 1982). Today, you can savor your own swashbuckling dreams and this delicious take on the classic sandwich. Apple Pancake Rolls  Find it at: River Belle Terrace in Disneyland Park Vintage-Inspired Flavors: Apple pie topping, walnut streusel, and cinnamon Chantilly cream served with choice of bacon or sausage. Pancake roll-ups were a staple on the Pancake House menu when it opened in August of 1955. Strawberry and blueberry pancakes are also available as a variation of an original item sold at the Pancake House. The Apple Pancake Rolls served today are a close double to those that guests snacked on nearly 70 years ago. More Retro Treats Inspired by Eats from Decades Past In the totally tubular 1980s, Disneyland opened Videopolis in Fantasyland and proved even Mouseketeers could moonwalk. With giant video screens that played the latest music videos and a huge dance floor, it was the place to boogie down before fueling up with futuristic round fries at The Space Place restaurant in Tomorrowland or grabbing a burger in Frontierland. Here’s a few more most-righteous modernized must-eats that will take you back. Dancing Shimmering Lights  Find it at: Troubadour Tavern in Disneyland Park Vintage-Inspired Flavors: Sweet berry lemonade with blackberry topper and colorful sanding sugar. This vivid concoction was inspired by Videopolis, that radical high-tech area guests were able to dance the night away in the 1980s and 1990s. With each sip, reflect on your dance moves and hair choices back then and let us know if you’ve seen any improvement over the years. Space Place Cottage Fries   Find it at: Galactic Grill in Disneyland Park Vintage-Inspired Flavors: Fries tossed in Parmesan butter and parsley served with house-made ranch. These Cottage Fries take us back to The Space Place restaurant in Tomorrowland from 1977 to 1996 where they were served as a futuristic side dish. Wait — if Cottage Fries are coming back in 2025, now soaring to entrée status… that means Tomorrowland’s vision of the future was right all along! Cowboy Fries  Find it at: The Golden Horseshoe in Disneyland Park Vintage-Inspired Flavors: Fries, nacho cheese, sautéed ground beef, burger sauce, and butter pickles. Frontierland restaurants used to offer hamburgers in the 1980s, 1990s and early 2000s, so to tip our cowboy hats to those burgers of the past, we topped fries with all the goodness of a burger, without the bun.
