  4. Disney Springs is home to so many fun and unique places to eat! Over the years, we’ve tried many different snacks, meals, treats, and drinks, but we keep coming back for more! Disney Springs Recently, a popular restaurant at Disney Springs took to Instagram to make a big announcement. Only, they weren’t straightforward with it — they made the announcement using a secret code! Sneaky, eh? Alright, let’s break down the Instagram post because The Polite Pig has something they are hiding from us. The post stated that the world needs to GET READY — because The Polite Experience is HERE! It also said that it’s going to “change everything you thought you knew about connection, creativity, and culture.” Oooh — mysterious! The Polite Pig The post builds even more anticipation, calling this not just an event but a movement! It will be a “celebration of authenticity, elegance, and next-level vibes,” coming together to create an unforgettable experience. They also said, “whether you’re coming for the energy, the community, or the surprises—we promise, you’re in for something extraordinary.” Okay, now we’re really excited! Outside the Polite Pig The Polite Pig is dropping a list of brand-new delightful dishes and cocktails is very soon, and they let us know that we are NOT going to want to miss what’s showing up for The Polite Experience! They mentioned there will be big names, big energy, big things to come. A whole lotta BIG! What’s going to be happening here? That was everything they put in the caption; now, let’s focus on the post itself! It looks like the mystery games have already begun with this restaurant, because they posted a code that you need to crack on the Instagram post. Apparently, something delightfully “polite” is coming, and the post challenges the clever ones out there to figure out what it is. The code reads: 10 / 21 / 14 / 5 – C – T – Y @thepolitepig via Instagram They also dropped a decoder for us to use to crack the code! @thepolitepig via Instagram If you want to solve it, give it a try! We did crack the code so you wouldn’t have to, so keep scrolling to find out what the secret message is. SPOILERS AHEAD! Disney Springs JUNE 3 20 25 — June 3rd, 2025 is what the code says. It’s not a new menu item, or an event, but a date! So it looks like we’re going to have to be ready for June 3rd. That’s less than a month away! Located in such a convenient area of Disney Springs! Ok, now we’re REALLY excited! We’re going to keep an eye out for some more codes and information that the Polite Pig drops. What is it that they’re hiding? 5. We have been to Epic Universe a few times now, and we have spent a lot of time riding rides, just living in the atmosphere of all five themed lands in Universal Orlando’s new theme park, and living our best lives. Isle of Berk Now, we’re going to warn you now that one of our favorite lands is How To Train Your Dragon — Isle of Berk (where we met TOOTHLESS, y’all!), but more importantly, one of our favorite snacks lives in this land (it’s the Goldfish Mac and Cheese cone and y’all gotta try it out). Now, we’re trying even MORE new food in that land, so come with us as we review Spit Fyre Grill. Atmosphere You’ll find Spit Fyre Grill in Isle of Berk near the Fyre Drill ride in a “bustling trader’s market” where you can munch on Viking fare. This quick service spot even has dragon wings on top to represent the unseen dragon fry cook that works here. Spit Fyre Grill You’ll order from one of many walk-up windows or via Mobile Order. Menu The menu here includes various bowls, as well as beverages, including ICEE. A selection of beer, wine, and mead are also available. Note that you can also get the Mac and Cheese cones here via Mobile Order. Eats First up, we grabbed the Valka’s Vegan Bowl, made with Kale spring mix blend, bean salad, pineapple salsa, candy beets, vegan feta, mango, and mint vinaigrette for $15.99. Okay, warning — this bowl is surprisingly spicy. It’s a basic salad bowl with some vegan feta that tastes pretty much like the real thing. Valka’s Vegan Bowl But, yeah, how does this combination end up being so spicy? We have no idea, but we will warn you if you’re used to general theme park spicy. We loved it, of course, but if you’re sensitive to that kind of heat, stay away. It hits the tongue hard, and you might want some milk to chase it down. It might seem light and refreshing, but it’s bringing some FYRE. SPICY Next up, we ordered Hiccup’s Salmon Bowl for $18.99, made with ancient grains, grilled citrus salmon, jicama slaw, blistered cherry tomatoes, feta cheese, and avocado crema. This bowl was a hit for us, too. The salmon was well-cooked, and the size was perfect. The slaw with the tomatoes and feta cheese just works well with it, too, for a flavorful combination. Hiccup’s Salmon Bowl Honestly, we didn’t expect a bowl like this with such high-quality options in a theme park. It’s also a great choice if you want something a little healthier, but filling. Better than it had any right to be So, yeah, these bowls kinda rock. Nosh or Not Sail on over to Spit Fyre Grill if… You want healthier options. These bowls offer a great meal option with healthier ingredients compared to a lot of other theme park fare. You like really spicy food. The vegan bowl set our tastebuds on fire — in a good way. If you like that, you have to try it. You want a quick meal. This is a quick-service restaurant that also has Mobile Order, so you’ll get your food fast. You should skip the Spit Fyre Grill spot if… You have picky eaters in your group. The higher-end ingredients and elevated bowls here might be a bit too much for pickier eaters, although you can always grab one of the Mac and Cheese cones if all else fails. You want a table service dining experience. This is basically a hut with walk-up windows, so you won’t get a sit-down restaurant dining experience here. You want a heavily themed experience. Although the theming is on-point, this isn’t an immersive restaurant like you might find in Dark Universe. Overall Overall, we’d head to Spit Fyre Grill again for both of these bowls because we liked that this was well elevated from what you might expect as theme park food. The ingredients are fresh and the bowls are well-thought out. This is also a great option if you want something a little healthier than a burger and fries. In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disney World and beyond. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more! 6. You don’t need to do every ride in EPCOT. EPCOT The park is absolutely MASSIVE, and you might struggle to do every ride in one day if you’re also trying to enjoy the shows and entertainment, as well as thoroughly explore the countries of the World Showcase. So, when you have to prioritize rides, which do you choose? Well, today we’re here to tell you about one popular ride that you might be able to SKIP. What You Should Skip If you had to skip one of EPCOT’s most popular rides, the one we’d suggest you miss out on is Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. This ride has been pretty popular since it opened back in 2021 for Disney World’s 50th Anniversary, but it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure First of all, this ride can cause motion sickness for those who struggle with 3-D or 4-D motion, or those who struggle with rides that are screen-based. It’s a combination of sets and screens, and you have to wear 3-D glasses to get the full effect. Combine that with the unique motion of the trackless ride vehicle, and we’ve known quite a few people who got off this ride feeling queasy. Ride Vehicle You may also want to skip this ride for the sake of its wait time. It gets incredibly long waits (especially first thing in the morning!), and those wait times aren’t always accurate. Personally, I’ve waited in this queue on three separate occasions when my actual wait time was MUCH longer than the posted one when I got in line. And trust me — this queue is definitely not exciting enough to stand in for 2.5 hours. The ride also tends to break down frequently, which can delay your entire day. The line for Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure Finally, you might want to skip out on Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure if you’re more of a thrill-seeker. Compared to some of the other popular rides, it doesn’t have much in the way of thrill (it doesn’t even have a height requirement, so BABIES are allowed to ride!). What to Ride Instead Instead of Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, we encourage you to prioritize Frozen Ever After or Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. Those are the other two rides that fall into the “top 3 most popular” category, and they tend to be more of a “can’t-miss” for a broader scope of people. Frozen Ever After Frozen Ever After appeals strongly to families with Frozen fans or to those who love a classic Disney boat ride. It also has juuust enough thrill for your kiddos — that drop down the hill at the end can be a lot of fun! We would choose it over Remy’s because its queue is more interesting, and its wait time also tends to run LOWER than the posted time. Frozen Ever After On the other hand, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is often proclaimed to be the best ride in EPCOT, and even the best ride in Disney World. It’s the only roller coaster in the park and the only roller coaster in Disney World with a backwards launch. Pair that thrill with its awesome randomized soundtrack, and it’s the kind of attraction that many fans believe is worth the wait. Cosmic Rewind Loading Area But in the end, you’ll just need to choose the EPCOT rides that fit your personal preferences the best! 8. Well, the end of an era is happening in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Muppets Courtyard in Hollywood Studios The first of the Muppets Courtyard closure is underway, starting with Mama Melrose’s, followed by Muppet*Vision 3D and PizzeRizzo. By June 8th, the entire area will be permanently closed to make way for a new Monsters, INC. land. Well, Disney recently filed a permit for a store in the area that will soon be demolished. So, yep, it’s really happening, folks. Disney has filed a permit with Orange County, Florida for the “demo, infrastructure prep, and utility modification” for 361 Cypress Drive in Lake Buena Vista, Fl. Yep, demo, as in DEMOLITION. That means something is getting destroyed to make way for something new. ©Orange County, Florida But where exactly is this demolition happening? If you look for that address at Disney World, you’ll see that this is the location associated with the Stage 1 Company Store. ©Central Florida Tourism Oversight District Yep, that’s the store on Grand Avenue known for its Muppets merchandise. It looks like that building may be officially going away as part of the Monsters Inc. construction project. Stage 1 Company Store Now that the permit has been filed, it’s only a matter of time before that building goes buh-bye. We’re guessing that will happen once all of Muppets Courtyard closes in June. Disney seems to be moving pretty fast on this project, but we still don’t have an opening timeline for the new Monsters, INC. land, which will bring a new attraction to Hollywood Studios: Disney’s first suspended roller coaster. ©Disney Don’t worry, Muppets fans — Disney will be re-theming Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster to give it a Muppets upgrade! ©Disney We’ll be keeping an eye out for more changes in Hollywood Studios as it makes way for the new land, so stay tuned to DFB for more. 9. Disney recently made several big announcements, particularly about how its theme parks business is doing, how streaming is faring, and how the company is doing financially. ©Disney However, the biggest shock was when the company revealed it has plans to build a new theme park and resort in Abu Dhabi, UAE. That announcement has already proved a bit controversial, particularly with current Disney fans. So let’s take a look at what our DFB readers think about this new theme park. Disney’s new park in Abu Dhabi will be working with Miral, an Abu Dhabi company that creates destinations and experiences, to construct the new theme park. Miral will be in charge of developing and constructing the resort while Disney leads the creative design and operational oversight. The park will be located on Yas Island, which is home to other theme parks and attractions. ©Disney However, when we asked Disney fans how they felt about this announcement, the responses were mixed, although many were critical, especially about the new resort’s location and the strict laws the UAE is known for. According to Human Rights Watch and Wikipedia, “Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people in the United Arab Emirates face discrimination and legal challenges. Homosexuality is illegal in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and under the federal criminal provisions, consensual same-sex sexual activity is punishable by imprisonment; extra-marital sexual activity between persons of different sexes is also illegal. In both cases, prosecution will only be brought if a husband or male guardian of one of the participants makes a criminal complaint.” Further, Abu Dhabi (and the broader UAE) is also criticized for its laws surrounding women. According to the Human Rights Watch, while women can drive, own property, work, and get an education, some of these actions require approval from a male guardian, like a father or husband. The 2024 Human Freedom Index ranks the United Arab Emirates 119 out of 165 on human freedom regarding the rule of law, safety, movement, religion, relationships, and more. For comparison, the United States is ranked 17th. Still, the United Arab Emirates is largely considered to be progressive for the region. DFB reader @chaotic_imgnxr commented, “why are we clapping for this? its a human rights disaster over there.” ©Miral DFB reader @sameckmann said, “A park I will never see. What a dangerous and irresponsible location choice.” Reader @jdeckar1 commented, “TERRIBLE! Why pick a place where it’s illegal to love who you love. This is a big world, why this place?” ©Disney However, many Disney fans think that the company should have focused its efforts on its other parks, particularly those in the U.S. Reader @geekinoutwithethan said, “I like it better when Disney makes huge improvements to the parks here in the USA.” According to @lavaffaire, “Why add a new park when the parks that exist literally need extra love?” ©Disney Some readers got more specific, particularly thinking about Disney World, including @kylaforge who said, “Universal is crushing Disney Orlando to the point of embarrassment, but sure, let’s not build a 5th park there.” Meanwhile, @gingerlovetc said, “How about we give a little tender loving care to the parks we have here?” ©Disney Many other DFB readers spoke about how they believe this park will cater to the wealthy, and they think that’s why Disney decided to build a park there. DFB Reader @tamham2001 said, “A Disney park for the Uber rich? Color me surprised .” Another reader, @aclowe78 agreed, “This really reinforces the notion that Disney has become a playground for the rich. This park will be the most flagrant example of that.” ©Disney Some folks were excited about the prospect of a new park in Abu Dhabi. One commenter, @disneysmagicalfamily said, “I’ve been to abu dabi and Dubai! So exciting!!!” Another reader, @radfatbikes, commented, “This is so exciting! Disney does so much in the US, it’s so great to see it expanding to other parts of the world so more people can experience the magic.” ©Disney There were also several comments that hoped the theme park would have a Jasmine-inspired castle or an Aladdin theme. Aladdin takes place in a fictional place called Agrabah, though the setting is widely believed to be inspired by the Middle East and South Asia. Many Disney fans are having serious discussions about the new park. Want to participate in these discussions? Be sure to follow us on Instagram. 10. Your Disney World vacation can be fun, but you might also run into a few obstacles on your trip! This one complicated rule at Disney World restaurants might just catch you off guard. Be Our Guest Restaurant There are several great restaurants at Disney World — trust us, it’s our job to talk about them! It’s even better when you can get those delicious meals at a discounted rate, am I right? However, this one discount at restaurants has become overly complicated, and it might impact your vacation. Walt Disney World Annual Passholders enjoy the benefits of Disney World dining discounts at several restaurants around the Resort. The discount is usually 10% off food and nonalcoholic beverages. However, there are some exceptions to this rule, making it a little more complicated for Annual Passholders. Disney World Annual Pass Not every dining location at Disney World is eligible for the discount. Quick Service restaurants do not take the discount. But that’s not all, many of the lounges around Disney World do not accept the discount either. For example, Geyser Point Bar & Grill at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort and Tambu Lounge at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort do not accept the discounts. Full spread at Geyser Point Some locations will accept the discount, but only at specific times of the day. Chefs de France will only accept the discount before 3PM. Then restaurants like Via Napoli will not apply the discount on New Year’s Day, Easter, Independence Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Eve. Via Napoli in EPCOT’s Italy pavilion With so many rules and specific details for each restaurant, it can make using your discount complicated. We wish Disney would simplify the rule for the discount so that it is more uniform. We also understand that some restaurants are run independently, so they are allowed to be more flexible with how they use the discount. Tambu Lounge Annual Passholders must show a valid form of identification along with the portion of the My Disney Experience app indicating that they are an Annual Passholder to get these discounts. You can see the steps to find that information on the My Disney Experience app here. Disney World Annual Passholder Entrance V.I.Passholder Days are coming BACK from May 14th through July 31st, 2025! BIG perks include: Increased discounts at select restaurants; A new FREE Passholder magnet; An exclusive Passholder Lounge in EPCOT (through July 13th); And a 20% off discount at DisneyStore.com (from June 2nd through July 22nd)! 12. Flying soon and dreading the feeling of being smushed next to a stranger for hours on end? We totally get it and have been there. Airplane interior Thankfully, there are some airlines that offer different seating options, such as Business Class and First Class, to give you more room while you travel, but this perk does come at an additional cost. If you’re planning on flying with Avelo Airlines soon, you won’t want to miss this new announcement — TWO new seating options will be available for purchase later this year! Avelo Airlines just announced that it will introduce two new types of seating on its airplanes starting on September 25th, 2025. Stretch and Stretch+ will be available for additional costs. ©Orlando International Airport The “Stretch” option will give guests a seat with extra legroom, going from 32 inches to over 36 inches. Stretch+ will put travelers in a row where the middle seat is purposefully left empty. That means that instead of three people per row, the two travelers in this row will have more room to spread out and be a little more comfortable. Impressive, right? (Bruce Snyder/Avelo Airlines/WWMT) Those flying with Avelo can book these upgrades online right now for flights on or after September 25th. Avelo markets itself as “America’s most convenient airline,” and while you can select these seats (or a standard seat) in advance, the cost starts at $14. However, parents flying with kids 14 and under can feel comforted that those children will be seated next to an adult in their party at no additional cost. ©Avelo Airlines Looking for more recent travel news? 14. Disney recently revealed some updates during its quarterly earnings call, including how its theme parks and experiences business is doing, how Disney+ streaming is working out, and the company’s general financial situation. ©Disney However, Disney also dropped a massive announcement that surprised a lot of Disney fans — the company revealed it has plans to build a brand new theme park resort in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The company has spoken about that project, as well as its scale, but Disney executives have doubled down on just how ambitious this project is shaping up to be in Abu Dhabi. First, some background. Disney’s Abu Dhabi Resort will be constructed on Yas Island, which is already home to several theme parks and attractions, including Ferrari World, which is home to the world’s fastest roller coaster. The island is also home to Yas Waterworld, Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi, CLYMB Abu Dhabi, and SeaWorld Abu Dhabi. However, Disney has said its park will be more ambitious than anything else that’s been done there so far. ©Ferrari World In an interview with CNBC, Disney CEO Bob Iger said, “And I will also say this is far more ambitious than anything that’s been built here. And that will be reflected not just in the size and in the quality, but in the sheer scale and in the — I think, diversity and I guess the array of experiences that will be offered. We’re not talking about anything small or anything in a box or this will be a significant theme park that we’re putting here.” ©Disney Chairman of Disney Experience Josh D’Amaro added, “Yeah, it’ll be much larger than anything that’s currently here now. And I think to Bob’s point, and you can see it in some of the renderings that we’ve released, we’re being incredibly ambitious in terms of the architecture, use of indoor and outdoor space. One of the great things about the piece of land that we’ll be building on is it’s right up against the water. And so we’ll be pulling water into this resort. We really haven’t had an opportunity to do that anywhere else in the world. So this will be incredibly different from anything that’s around it.” ©Disney This project is also ambitious in comparison to what Disney has done in its other parks. D’Amaro said the new theme park will “take all the great stories that we have and deliver them to consumers and fans in completely new ways, dynamic ways, immersive ways, in ways that will keep them coming back time and time again. And so by virtue of the fact that this is our latest resort, it will be our most technologically advanced.” ©Disney Iger spoke about how the new theme park will look different from other Disney Parks, too. He said, “This will not look like any other theme park that we’ve built. Obviously, it’ll have a lot of our IP and there’ll be a lot about it that is familiar. Certainly Mickey Mouse is going to appear as Mickey appears in places all over the world. But you look at the architecture here and you look around at Abu Dhabi’s planning for the future. This park will be very consistent with that. And that’s exciting to us.” ©Disney The project will be funded by another company; Disney is not contributing any funds towards the new theme park. Disney Imagineers will lead creative design and operational oversight, and the new resort will be fully developed and built by Miral. Miral has developed other attractions in Abu Dhabi, such as SeaWorld Yas Island, Warner Bros. World Yas Island, and more. ©Disney This new park is expected to connect travelers from the Middle East and Africa, India, Asia, Europe, and more. Disney shared that the UAE is located within a four-hour flight of one-third of the world’s population, “making it a significant gateway for tourism.” Disney certainly has big plans for its seventh park, and we’ll be keeping an eye out for more details, so stay tuned to DFB for more. 15. Mother’s Day is almost here, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom is celebrating the joy and beauty of nature around the park. Take a break from the internet and come with us to look at cute baby animals! Animal Kingdom Animal Kingdom has welcomed some new baby animals recently, and if you haven’t seen them yet, trust us when we say they’re adorable. With so many newcomers in the park, the baby animals had to celebrate their mothers as well! Then there’s Mara, the Masai giraffe mother of Tucker. She’s also not a new mother; Tucker is the third baby she’s cared for. You can find Mara and Tucker out in the savanna, on Kilimanjaro Safaris. It’s one of our favorite attractions at Disney World! Tucker is the cutest! Tucker is said to be a very fast learner, and maybe it’s thanks to his mother. He loves to stick close to his mom. Disney revealed that Mara has been guiding Tucker around the savanna with sweet, gentle nudges, teaching him the giraffe language and how to get around! How CUTE is that?! ©Disney Disney was also delighted to share a Mother’s Day surprise! It was just announced that Juniper, an endangered addax, welcomed an adorable calf named Ginny last month. She has been nursing her newborn over at the Animal Kingdom Lodge! ©Disney That’s not all, though, as Violet also welcomed her newborn calf, Henry! These new additions to the addax family are huge, as the addax is listed as a critically endangered species, according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). Violet and Henry can be found wandering the Uzima Savanna. ©Disney We love adorable mother stories and baby animals! It’s so cute to see the newest additions to Animal Kingdom wander around and play. 16. Summer 2025 is shaping up to be an interesting one at Disney World! Let’s go to Disney World! While the resort is in a state of transformation overall, with major construction projects in various stages at all four of Disney World’s theme parks, there are still some big changes coming to Disney World this summer. Double the Water Parks Since Walt Disney World reopened following the COVID-19 closure, the resort has alternated which of its two water parks — Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon — is open at a given time, with one being closed for refurbishment while the other is operational. That’s all changing in May. Blizzard Beach First off, Typhoon Lagoon reopened on May 1st. Now, Blizzard Beach closed on that day, BUT the park is reopening on May 21st, and BOTH of Disney World’s water parks will be open at the same time all summer! This is especially notable, as this summer will be the first summer season in which Disney World hotel guests receive a complimentary water park ticket on their check-in date. Typhoon Lagoon According to Disney, “For the first time since 2019, Disney World will have all 6 of our parks—all 4 theme parks and 2 water parks—open at the same time. From May 21st through September 7th, Disney World guests can enjoy the tropical shipwreck oasis of Typhoon Lagoon and the frosty fun of Blizzard Beach water park.” Hotels with Character According to the Disney Parks Blog, “This summer, guests staying at select resorts – Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort and Disney’s Wilderness Lodge – will be able to enjoy even more Disney-themed activities designed for families with kids. These activities will include character visits with set appearance times to help you plan your day and an expanded itinerary of things to do with your family throughout your stay at these four resorts. “ Character Meet and Greet sign at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort Having scheduled character meet & greets at these Disney hotels is a game changer for Disney hotel guests, who will be able to meet their favorites BEFORE heading to the parks for the day, OR add some Disney character magic to a day otherwise spent just relaxing at their resort. Two NEW Shows at Hollywood Studios May 27th will see the debut of not one, but TWO new stage shows at Hollywood Studios. The first, Unfairly Ever After is a “spellbinding show with moving music and a most memorable finale—where you help decide who has been treated most unfairly” amongst the Disney Villains. The show will be located in the former home of Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy. ©Disney The second new Hollywood Studios show is a reimagined interpretation of the park’s long-running Little Mermaid show. The new “fully reimagined show will take the audience to Ariel’s treasure trove” and be known as The Little Mermaid: A Musical Adventure. According to Disney, this new show will keep “the lively puppets, props, and scenery center stage. But new to this production, get ready to be dazzled with new digital puppetry and jaw-dropping effects. Plus, the addition of new-to-the-show songs!” ©Disney Disney Starlight is Coming Summer 2025 will see the return of a nighttime parade to the Magic Kingdom with the debut of Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away. ©Disney According to Disney, the new parade will combine “nostalgic Disney storytelling and glowing innovation, continuing the legacy of dazzling nighttime entertainment that holds a special place in the hearts of so many” and feature characters from “classic and new Walt Disney Animation Studios films like Peter Pan, Encanto, Frozen, Moana” and more. ©Disney While Disney is overall in a state of transition, there are still several worthwhile new additions coming this summer! 19. So much has changed in the last 5 years at Disney World. There is one mistake people still make that you don’t want to get caught making! Cinderella Castle Since Disney World closed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have experienced a lot of changes. There has been a BIG push towards more mobile technology through Mobile Ordering and Merchandise Checkout. There have been new attractions that have opened and some that have closed permanently. If you are heading back to Disney World soon, there is a BIG change you need to be aware of. There are still people out there who are traveling to Disney World with a pre-COVID mentality. If it’s been a bit since you have traveled to Disney World, there are a lot of things that you should get caught up on before going. It’s okay for people not to be as hyper-focused on the Disney parks scene as some of us — that’s our job. But, when you are planning on spending A LOT of money on a Disney World vacation, you’re gonna want to be as informed. EPCOT Let’s travel back to 2020, before the closure of Disney World. FastPass+ was the reigning “skip-the-line” service that was FREE to guests. In August 2021, Disney announced that FastPass+ would NOT be returning to Disney World. But, don’t fret — there is a NEW system in its place! FastPass+ Entrance at Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Disney has rolled out Lightning Lane as the latest “skip-the-line” service. There are two options you can now PURCHASE to save yourself time on your rides: Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass. That’s right — these services now come with a fee. It begins at $15, however, it will vary based on the park you purchase it for and the time of year you are visiting. Everything You Need to Know About Lightning Lane Multi Pass in Disney World Slinky Dog Dash Lightning Lane When purchasing Lightning Lane Multi Pass, you can make up to 3 Lightning Lane Multi Pass selections in a park in advance of your visit. Additionally, you can choose available times as you make your attraction selections, and can continue to hold up to 3 Lighting Lane Multi Pass selections at a time. Guests who remember FastPass+ will probably see the similarities in the two systems. Disney World Resort guests can reserve these 7 days before their vacation, and non-resort guests can reserve 3 days before their park day. Book These Rides FIRST With Disney World’s Lightning Lane Multi Pass System! Lightning Lane Lightning Lane Single Pass is a separate fee for the most popular attractions. Guests may hold a maximum of TWO Single Passes per day, they can both be purchased in advance if you prefer (pending availability), AND they can be located in TWO different parks (though, be aware that your Disney World theme park ticket must include the Park Hopper add-on option to be able to visit both attractions in two different parks in one day). The full list of attractions that are currently available for Lightning Lane Single Pass in Walt Disney World is as follows: Magic Kingdom: Seven Dwarfs Mine Train TRON Lightcycle / Run EPCOT: Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Animal Kingdom: Avatar Flight of Passage Hollywood Studios: Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind While there are a lot of similarities in the two systems, one major difference is paying for Lightning Lanes. This can come as a surprise to some guests who aren’t aware of the switch, so plan ahead. These costs can also add up for a large traveling party. It’s not uncommon that we see Multi Pass for Magic Kingdom at $29 per person, per day, and if you have 5 people in your party, that’s a quick $145 per day — that’s not including any Single Passes you would like to purchase. 21. Are you a Disney World Annual Passholder? Annual Passholder If so, you’re probably aware of all the benefits you get for being a Passholder. In addition to admission into the parks, you also get discounts on shopping and dining, access to exclusive lounges, and the occasional free gift. You also get special merchandise, and now a NEW Annual Passholder souvenir is turning up, but Disney sort of missed a HUGE opportunity with the announcement about its release. Let’s get into it. Disney World is releasing an exclusive tumbler for purchase for Disney World Annual Passholders. The tumbler features artwork designed by Joey Chou and includes some of the characters you’ve previously seen on Passholder Magnets like Figment, Mickey Mouse, and more. You’ll also recognize some iconic Disney World landmarks. Honestly it IS a cute tumbler. ©Disney You’ll be able to purchase this tumbler from the following locations in Disney World while supplies last: Restaurantosaurus and Pizzafari in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Dockside Diner in Disney’s Hollywood Studios Connections Eatery and Regal Eagle Smokehouse: Craft Drafts & Barbecue in EPCOT Regal Eagle Smokehouse However, it’s the language Disney uses to describe the tumbler that just hurts our feelings. The description reads: “This nonrefillable, Passholder-exclusive tumbler…” Yep, Disney pointed out that this tumbler is nonrefillable. Which just dashes any and all hopes that Passholders could someday possibly get a refillable tumbler option at the parks (seriously, we’ve dreamed about it). ©Disney Oh, well, we guess. Anyway, the tumbler is one of the offerings for V.I.Passholder Days, which runs from May 14th through July 31st. During that time, Annual Passholders will get a new magnet, bigger discounts on shopping and dining, a special Passholder lounge in EPCOT, and more. 22. Here at Disney, we know military service is a family business. Just in time for Military Spouse Appreciation Day on May 9, we had the chance to sit down with planDisney panelist, Carrie H., to chat about her love for Disney and her experiences as a military spouse! Carrie’s husband, Eric, is a Sr. Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy, working as an aviation electrician. Like Walt Disney, Carrie and Eric are originally from Illinois, where they met as teenagers. Let’s learn a little bit more about Carrie, Eric and their Disney-loving family! Disney Parks Blog: Tell us a little bit about your family. Carrie: “My husband and I started as high school sweethearts, and we have celebrated over 20 years of marriage. We have three kids (middle school, high school, and college age) who keep our life interesting and our schedules full. While military life has its ups and downs, we cannot complain that the Navy has let us call San Diego home now for the second time — just a short drive to Disneyland Resort! You’ll find us in the parks getting in as many attractions as we can, but also leaving plenty of time to check the newest Disneyland snacks off our list of must-tries.” Disney Parks Blog: What is it like being a military spouse? Carrie: “Being a military spouse means long separations apart, missing milestones and holidays. My husband was deployed when our first child was born. But then you have those really special homecomings. It’s learning to be really independent, but then also learning that everything doesn’t have to go your way once they’re back. It’s learning a lot of patience and not sweating the small stuff.” Adding Some Disney Magic During Deployments Disney Parks Blog: What does Disneyland Resort mean to you and your family? Carrie: “Disneyland Resort has truly become a home away from home for me and our kids. Obviously, we love coming to celebrate—making up for lost time when Dad’s here—but it’s also a place we choose to go when we’re having a hard time, and we just want to get away for a little bit. A few years ago, during my husband’s deployment, the kids and I made great friends within our military community who also had loved ones deployed, and we would all just go up together.” Disney Parks Blog: Why do you enjoy going to Disneyland while Eric is deployed? Carrie: “Spending time there is one of the ways the kids and I can experience a little magic, so the kids aren’t focused on Dad not being here—especially during holidays and celebrations when he can’t be with us in person. Now that my kids are older, I also love coming by myself and getting a day away from everything.” Disney Parks Blog: How do you and the kids stay close to Eric when he’s deployed? Carrie: “Beyond frequent messages and video calls, the kids and I like to find creative ways to ensure Eric is with us in spirit, even when he’s on the other side of the world. When my kids were younger, we had this “daddy doll” that they would insist on bringing with us to the parks, so he was with us. On the flip side, when he was deployed, Eric brought along a Woody doll that he would take from place to place to send us photos, and the kids would always look forward to seeing where Dad was with Woody. He even had a chance to bring Woody to Hong Kong Disneyland!” Eric in Hong Kong Disneyland Resort while on deployment. Disney Parks Blog: What are some of your favorite memories from visiting Disneyland Resort? Carrie: “I don’t think I can pick one! We have so many different, great memories at Disneyland. Obviously, celebrating when my husband comes back. There was one homecoming in particular, when our youngest had just recently grown tall enough to be able to ride the Incredicoaster, so she could not wait to get into the park and ride that with Dad. That was definitely a core memory!” Disney Parks Blog: Have you also visited Walt Disney World Resort? Carrie: “Our first visit was just me and my oldest when she was just three months! But two years ago, we got to go on our first Walt Disney World vacation as a family. I know with a lot of military families, when we have leave to take, it’s going home to see Grandma, Grandpa and the cousins. So, this was our first destination vacation with just us as a family and that was really an exciting experience!” Carrie and Ava’s first visit to Walt Disney World Resort [left] and Carrie and Ava’s second visit to Walt Disney World Resort [right]. Carrie’s Path to planDisney Panelist Disney Parks Blog: When did you first discover your love for Disney? Carrie: “Growing up, you could find me in front of the TV wearing out one of the many volumes of Disney Sing Along Songs on VHS. A Disney vacation was always a dream, and it finally came true in my early 20’s when my mom earned a family trip to Walt Disney World through work. Shortly after that trip, the military moved us to southern California, which meant we got to explore and fall in love with Disneyland Resort.” Disney Parks Blog: Why did you decide to become a planDisney panelist? Carrie: “Disney was always a place I loved going with my family, especially with the kids while Eric is away. My friends would always ask for information or advice for their trips, so I figured being a planDisney panelist would work out perfectly! I love helping others make the most of their visits to ‘The Happiest Place on Earth!’” Disney Parks Blog: What is a fun memory you have from being a planDisney panelist? Carrie: “Last year we went to Walt Disney World as a family and our oldest daughter was waiting on college acceptances. While we were there, she found out she was accepted to her top choice!” Disney Parks Blog: What does Eric think about Disney Parks? Carrie: “He loves it! Although we haven’t gotten him on board with the matching shirts just yet, he really enjoys the trips we take together and the memories we make as a family.” Disney Parks Blog: What do you want other military families to know about Disney? Carrie: “The parks are truly a magical escape from the challenges of military life. Thankfully, Disney offers amazing military deals and discounts for visiting Disneyland and Walt Disney World for eligible service members, so families like ours can escape into the magic, spend time together and create wonderful memories.” Offers for Eligible U.S. Military Members Eligible U.S. Military members have access to discounted tickets and resort stays year-round. 23. Disney World just revealed some upcoming showtimes AND confirmed Lightning Lane access for one of its upcoming attractions! The Little Mermaid: A Musical Adventure We’ve been eagerly counting down the days until one of Disney World’s newest shows debuts at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. While we’ve gotten a taste of some of the show elements we’ll see, and Disney also teased that never-before-seen characters are coming to the show, we now know a little bit more about when we should expect throughout the day! We’re days away from a brand new show debuting at Disney World, and now we’ve got even more to be excited about! Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be home to The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure as it takes the stage on May 27th! ©Disney While we’ve known the day this show will debut in the park for a bit, we weren’t sure how often it would run each day. Disney World recently updated its My Disney Experience app and website to give us a hint of the timeframe we can expect performances to run each day. Currently, the posted information details performances will start at 9:15 AM and run through 7:15 PM each day. ©Disney It sounds like you’ll have multiple chances to see the show throughout the day, so you can plan your day accordingly. Additionally, Disney quietly confirmed that Lightning Lane access will be offered for this show, which may be something to consider as you’re making your selections for your day. It hasn’t been announced if the Lightning Lane Multi Pass or Single Pass system will accommodate the show, so stay tuned for more details. ©GMA Unfortunately, Disney hasn’t offered much more specific information about performance times than this for now, but we’ll be certain to keep a close eye on them. 27. Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary is almost here! We’re ready for it, and it looks like Disneyland is, too! Disneyland is ready for its 70th! Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary celebration will kick off on May 16th, and we’re so excited for this one-of-a-kind party! We recently went to the park to look for updates, and to our surprise, the decorations are already up all around the resort. From Main Street, U.S.A. to the hub to Sleeping Beauty Castle — the park is dazzling with new decor! The 70th Anniversary celebration will begin on May 16th and run throughout the summer of 2026. It’s going to be a party to remember — with new ride additions, brand-new attractions, the return of fan-favorite parades, 70+ new snacks and treats, and so much more. Every party needs to set up before it begins, so we have to show off the current status of Disneyland Resort. All these additions are making us VERY excited for the party to start! ©Disney We saw this beautiful decor up at the Disneyland esplanade right before you enter Disneyland or Disney’s California Adventure. We wonder what it will display near the bottom. The suspense is killing us! At least we won’t have to wait long to see what surprises are revealed. Disneyland Resort Esplanade! Even the Monorail is getting in on the celebration fun! Look how gorgeous and sleek this design looks on the Monorail, using the classic Disneyland logo with the new 70th logo. We’ll be riding into Disneyland in that 70th anniversary style! The Monorail Main Street is getting a beautiful makeover, too! Check out this piece we saw at the very front of the park. It reminds us to “Celebrate Happy” as we step into this happy place. The blue and pink colors are really working for the party decor. Main Street U.S.A! Take a look at some of the decorations hanging from the buildings along Main Street, U.S.A.! Disney also hung some “Celebrate Happy” decor along Main Street, U.S.A. on the lamp posts. Walking down Main Street We went to check out the popcorn stand and saw a sign up for the “Disneyland 70th Celebration Magic Key Insulated Cooler Bag.” It was available for $29.50 and was a Magic Key exclusive item. This thing looked amazing, and Magic Key Holders will be running for it at the beginning of the celebration! Popcorn stand Speaking of collectible items, we got our first in-person look at the 70th Anniversary Balloon Popcorn Bucket! This thing looked great — it featured Pluto and Donald on the ears of the bucket. We’re anticipating this collectible will go fast, and not many people probably realize the park already has it! Balloon Popcorn Bucket Of course, we saved the gorgeous Sleeping Beauty Castle for last! The castle has received a big change, as it now features a 70th Anniversary piece at the front and center. Sleeping Beauty Castle! We’re thinking the Castle will get other pieces added to it. If you remember the way the Castle looked during the 60th, it had more decor up. Look at the Castle! If you’ve seen the concept art for the Castle for the 70th, there were 70th Anniversary flags along the drawbridge. We’re anticipating some more additions to the Castle, and can’t wait to see it in person. The castle makeover has officially begun! ©Disney Don’t want to go through all of the stress of booking your Disney World trip alone? Reach out to our friends at Small World Vacations!
