EPCOT has been a theme park full of exciting rides, cultures, and so much more. This park has some of our favorite Disney World secrets, and today, we’re sharing them with you. EPCOT We love uncovering the hidden gems around the Disney World parks and sharing them with you. Like Hidden Mickey. There is no shortage of Hidden Mickeys in the parks, like on food, and in ride queues. But there are other secrets hidden around EPCOT, and some of them are sure to blow your mind! 1. Universe of Energy is STILL Around (Kinda) While Universe of Energy closed in 2017, you can still find little nods to the attraction hidden inside Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. You can find a lot of Universe of Energy references here, and if you’re wondering why, it’s because the Guardians took over where Bill Nye and Ellen DeGeneres once lived. Universe of Energy If you see Xandarian writing on the columns in the queue, there are four specific words you can translate. They read: Ellen, Alex, E=MC, and Dino. Alex is a specific shout-out to the late Alex Trebek, who played a big part in the Jeopardy scenes of the old Universe of Energy ride. That’s not all, during the preshow, if you listen closely, the song they’re jamming to happens to be a rock cover of the old Universe of Energy theme song! Can you see it? 2. Did You Know that the Pizza Planet is at EPCOT? If you are a Pixar fan, you might remember that the Pizza Planet truck is kinda of a big deal as it is hidden inside Pixar films. Well, when you’re riding Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in the France Pavilion, you’re gonna want to look away from the opening scene to spot it. Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure As Remy is trying to decide what to make for dinner, you’re going to look for the lit window and see the vehicular-shaped shadow peeking past the shades. A child who LOVES Pizza Planet must live there – since that toy-sized vehicle in the ride is shaped like the very same full-sized vehicle that makes cheesy deliveries in the Toy Story films! Ride Vehicle 3. The World Showcase That Wasn’t Did you know that the World Showcase was originally going to be one big half-circle building with ALL the different countries squeezed inside? However, those plans quickly shaped into the pavilions we have today. Imagineers made sure to place Canada and Mexico as the first two potential World Showcase entry points since these are the two countries that you can find on either side of the United States. Mexico Pavilion However, as the World Showcase was under construction, Imagineers weren’t originally planning on adding the America pavilion to the lineup. Instead, the America section was going to be “a two-story structure on stilts between World Showcase and Future World.” The attraction itself was going to be on the second story, while the first story would be used as a covered gateway leading to World Showcase. In the end, the idea was scrapped, and the American Adventure pavilion was placed in the center of the World Showcase pavilions. American Adventure 4. Honoring Walt Disney Inside Living With the Land While riding Living With the Land, you will pass by a farmhouse scene early on. Upstairs in that farmhouse is a bedroom. That bedroom is supposed to represent Walt Disney’s childhood room from his days back in Marceline, Missouri. To really get the full impact of the secret, you will want to have to be dining at the Garden Grill restaurant, which overlooks this very ride scene. Living with the Land If you are dining at Garden Grill, look into the bedroom window and check out the lamp on the windowsill. This lamp represents the one you can find in Walt Disney’s apartment above the Fire Station on Main Street USA in Disneyland. Just like the lamp in that apartment, the lamp in the farmhouse is always left on in honor of his memory. Farmhouse views 5. The Cutest Creatures in the Seas Over at the Seas, you’ll find tiny creatures wearing tiny Mickey hats. When you’re hanging around Sea Base after riding The Seas with Nemo and Friends, you can find the urchin tank on the top floor of the aquarium building. Cast member aquarists originally placed 3D printed Mickey ear decorations in the urchins’ tank so that our fishy friends could also join in on Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary festivities. Sea Urchin Lucky for us, they are still around. That’s not all — because sea urchins “naturally pick up objects for decoration or camouflage,” they put the hats on. So don’t forget to stop by to see these cuties on your next trip! Adorable 6. Fish Really Are Friends Speaking of the Seas, have you ever thought, “Why haven’t the sharks eaten every last one of these little fishies?” Well, we have an answer! It’s because the sharks in the aquariums at Sea Base are trained to only eat at night. When it’s the end of the day, the tank goes dark, and an animal service team member will shine a light where the food intended for the sharks will be dropped. Sharks are taught to “head toward the light” for food. The Seas 7. What’s Your Animal? Over in Canada, to the right of the DVC kiosk, you can find four colorful totem animals lined up in a row. Once upon a time, you used to be able to touch the hearts of each of these animals and hear what sounds they made. However, that hasn’t been the case for a while now, since these poor creatures are tucked away out of sight, out of mind. Canada Pavilion at EPCOT But if you DO decide to go visit them, you’ll see a bear, an eagle, a wolf, and an owl. Each animal represents an empowering characteristic of sorts: the Bear = strength, the Eagle = Courage, the Wolf = Freedom, and the Owl = Wisdom. Oh, Canada! 8. What’s Behind That Wall? The mural on the wall in the back of the Germany Pavilion is beautiful and intricate, but it’s also hiding a secret. If you knock on the wall of this mural, you’ll find that it sounds hollow. This was actually supposed to be the opening to a ride that never happened, called the Rhine River Cruise Ride. On this cruise, guests would’ve been able to see Germany’s famous rivers and landmarks. But before the concept was brought to life, the idea was scrapped, leaving behind a mural-covered entrance to where it once could’ve resided. This is our petition for Imagineers to bring it to life. This could have been a ride! That’s a few secrets we hope bring you some Disney joy today. For more Disney World secrets, be sure to follow us at DFB! When it comes to planning a Disney World trip, you need to consider a few things. Rainy day in Disney World You need a good packing list, an idea of your goals, and to be prepared for any type of weather. Orlando is known for its heat, but if this is your first trip or your 100th, you might not be prepared for hurricane season. Well, if you’re headed to Disney World soon, you need to pack your rain gear and get ready for some potentially strong weather. Let’s dive into everything we know here. So what does all of that mean? It essentially means that there are signs of a major storm forming along the Southeast portion of the United States. If it continues to grow over the next few days, it could turn into signs of a subtropical or tropical storm. A tropical storm, specifically, can develop into a hurricane if it continues to grow. Magic Kingdom entrance the day after Hurricane Milton If you’re headed to Disney World this week, that might seem nerve-wracking, but don’t stress too much. First, this storm could potentially die off while it’s still over the Atlantic, never forming into an actual hurricane. (Only time will tell.) Second, Disney is no stranger to hurricane weather. Cast Members prepping for Hurricanes Disney has a detailed hurricane policy that will be your best friend during impending storms. It applies if you book directly through Disney and deals with cancellation policies, vacation packages, and rescheduling as needed. We have weathered several hurricanes while at Disney World, and they have several plans in place to keep everyone safe, fed, and warm should the hurricane be severe enough for the parks or resorts to close. If you want to avoid rainy weather, you might want to take a look at the calendar! Luckily for us, the current weather forecast just means heavy rain for now and (hopefully) nothing more than that. The National Hurricane Center lists the chances of formation as low over the next week. Just pack your rain gear, and prepare for some wet feet over the next few days as the storm moves. For real-time updates, you can check hurricanes.gov for the most accurate information. Back in 2024, Disney shared that a new area inspired by the Pixar Animation Studios movie Cars would be coming to Frontierland in Magic Kingdom, and we’ve been hoping for more details ever since. ©Disney The NEW part of Frontierland will be called Piston Peak and will include new theming, two new rides, additional food and beverage options, and more. Disney recently shared a bit more about Piston Peak — including details about one of the ride’s preshows! Piston Peak is based on Rocky Mountain National Park, which includes red rocks, mountains, rivers, and tons of diverse landscapes. But it’s also based on Disney animated parks, and even existing park buildings like Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and Grizzly Peak in Disney California Adventure! ©Disney One of the rides coming to Piston Peak National Park will be a family fun attraction, and the queue for that ride will be held in the park’s ranger lodge. This makes total sense, because as you move through the queue of this ride, you’ll be introduced to a new character — Ranger J. Autobahn Woodlore. Cars Area Concept Art ©Disney This is a nod to Ranger J. Audubon Woodlore, the park ranger from Disney’s Humphrey the Bear and Donald Duck cartoons. ©Disney This attraction will feature an animatronic of Ranger J. Autobahn Woodlore in a pre-show, where he’ll tell you about the history of Piston Peak and its folklore — which Disney says we’ll learn more about at a later date. ©Disney The buildings in Piston Peak will have “car-ified” elements like lower windows so that cars can see out of them, entrances and building additions that are big enough for cars, and architecture that shows the cars are using found materials — like old wagon wheels — in their buildings. @Disney Disney also shared that Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will be subtly updated to fit into the Piston Peak area — you’ll see rainbow geyser pools scattered around the base of the mountain, and possibly even some tire tread tracks in the dirt! Oh, and did we mention that this area will have a LOT of water elements and shade?! Both are things that have been sorely missing in some of the other lands opened recently. Imagineers said they lost count of the number of waterfalls being added to this new area. ©Disney We can’t WAIT to learn more about the new Cars area coming to Magic Kingdom. Piston Peak will certainly add something new to this iconic park! NEWS: The Disney World Railroad Is CHANGING Soon
Disney4me posted a topic in Disney Food/Restaurants
Disney World is about to undergo some SERIOUS change. Okay, technically, it has been undergoing change for quite some time already. But, over in Magic Kingdom, those changes might be coming sooner than we originally thought. On July 7th, Tom Sawyer Island, the Liberty Belle Riverboat, and the Rivers of America will be closing forever to make way for a new Cars-themed area. To make that happen, the Walt Disney World Railroad will also have to undergo some changes. An iconic part of Magic Kingdom will officially be closed beginning on July 7th, 2025. Tom Sawyer Island, Rivers of America, and the Liberty Belle Riverboat will all have their last day of operation on July 6th — so get in your last adventures while you still can. As part of these changes, the Walt Disney World Railroad will still remain operational during the construction — but with a few updates. Rest in Peace While construction on Frontierland continues, the Walt Disney World Railroad station in this land will be closed — but the train will still be available to take guests between the Main Street, U.S.A., and Fantasyland stations. It will operate in “shuttle mode” starting on July 7th. Instead of making the full loop around the park, the train will go back and forth between the two stations. Walt Disney World Railroad Train But, Disney will be swapping some of the benches on the trains around so that they face both ways instead of just one — that way, folks have an option of sitting backwards or forwards on their ride. Hopefully, this will help any folks who are prone to motion sickness when riding backward! Train! So, what’s coming to this Cars-themed area — Piston Peak? Guests can look forward to two NEW Cars attractions! Get ready to race through the mountains on wild terrain along mountain trails as you dodge geysers and splash through mud holes. We also know that there will be new food and beverage options, new characters, and a whole lot more. Cars Area Concept Art ©Disney Please also be aware that Frontierland’s Big Thunder Mountain closed on January 6th, 2025, and won’t reopen until 2026. The ride will return, however, and will even do so with “with a little bit of new magic,” accordingly to Disney. This closure may also be intended to accommodate construction on Villains Land, another major expansion that is in the works for Magic Kingdom. ©Disney We can’t WAIT to learn more about the new Cars area coming to Magic Kingdom. Piston Peak will certainly add something new to this iconic park! We’ll be on the lookout for more updates on this new area, so make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more. It’s official! While Disney confirmed that a new Cars-themed area was coming to Magic Kingdom a while back, we only had a handful of details about it. Cars Area Concept Art ©Disney But, that’s all changed, because not only do we know more details about this new part of the park — we also know what it will officially be CALLED! Get ready to travel to Piston Peak! Disney Imagineers have revealed the name of this new Cars-themed area coming to Magic Kingdom. Inspired by the United States’ National Parks — and Rocky Mountain National Park, specifically — this new spot will officially be under construction beginning on July 7th. ©Disney If Piston Peak sounds familiar, it’s for a good reason! Piston Peak National Park is the setting for Disney’s 2014 animated film, Planes: Fire & Rescue, which is part of the Cars universe. Imagineers shared that the Piston Peak coming to Magic Kingdom is not directly from the Planes movie, but it is where Disney is pulling some of its inspiration from. ©Disney Piston Peak is based on Rocky Mountain National Park, which includes red rocks, mountains, rivers, and tons of diverse landscapes. But it’s also based on Disney animated parks, and even existing park buildings like Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and Grizzly Peak in Disney California Adventure! Wilderness Lodge The buildings in Piston Peak will have “car-ified” elements like lower windows so that cars can see out of them, entrances and building additions that are big enough for cars, and architecture that shows the cars are using found materials — like old wagon wheels — in their buildings. Disney also shared that Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will be subtly updated to fit into the Piston Peak area — you’ll see rainbow geyser pools scattered around the base of the mountain, and possibly even some tire tread tracks in the dirt! Coming to Frontierland at Magic Kingdom, a new area themed to Pixar Animation Studios’ “Cars” will leave Radiator Springs and head to the wilderness with two new attractions, including an off-road race. Oh, and did we mention that this area will have a LOT of water elements and shade?! Both are things that have been sorely missing in some of the other lands opened recently. Imagineers said they lost count of the number of waterfalls being added to this new area. We also know that there will be a geyser inspired by Old Faithful called Old Tankful — which is just the best pun. @Disney We can’t WAIT to learn more about the new Cars area coming to Magic Kingdom. We’ve known these Disney World closures were coming, but we didn’t know how soon they would be! Tom Sawyer Island Disney World’s own Cars-themed area is coming, and to make way for Lightning McQueen and friends, Magic Kingdom is getting reworked, and we finally have closing dates. The Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer Island, and the Liberty Square Riverboat will be permanently closing on July 7th, making the last day of operation July 6th. Liberty Square Riverboat Disney said the construction walls won’t be up for a few weeks, and they won’t get in the way of the new Magic Kingdom nighttime parade, Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away. Construction Walls Sad about losing the Rivers of America? While it’s not exactly the same, Disney has announced that it will incorporate water elements into the area. ©Disney The Cars-themed area taking over the land space will have two new Cars attractions, including one that will have you racing through the mountains on wild terrain. The second will be for smaller races and the whole family. @Disney Over on the West Coast, Cars Land has been in Disney California Adventure since 2012 and offers meet-and-greets, dining options, and a few attractions. The details here are incredible and truly make you feel like you entered the movie. Cars Land in Disney California Adventure Remember, the last day to ride on the Liberty Belle and take the raft over to Tom Sawyer Island is July 6th. A new Cars-themed area is coming to Magic Kingdom, and Disney just dropped so many details. Lightning McQueen The new area will be called Piston Peak, and it will allow you to enter the world of Cars with a National Park twist. Here’s a first look at the map for Piston Peak! ©Disney This new area will take over Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America, located to the right of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. On the map, we can see Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and Big Thunder Mountain. Picture yourself standing near the Haunted Mansion, looking towards Tiana’s Bayou. Big Thunder from Tom Sawyer Island On the map, the most significant area we can see is dedicated to one of the two attractions. This attraction will allow you to race through the mountains on wild terrain, avoiding geysers and mud holes. ©Disney Earlier this year, we got a look at the different vehicles we’ll see. Disney is trying to replicate the feeling of off-roading, and each car will have its own personality, name, and number. ©Disney There are lots of water elements, including a waterfall! While this won’t be equal to Rivers of America, it’s nice to see water features being brought in. ©Disney The whole area was inspired by National Parks, specifically the Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. The area is called Piston Peak from the fictional land, Piston Peak National Park, from the 2014 movie Planes: Fire & Rescue. ©Disney Big Thunder Mountain, which we’ll be able to see next door in Piston Peak, was inspired by Bryce Canyon National Park, so they’re bringing in classic Disney ideas. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad We don’t have any opening timelines for Pison Peak yet. Rivers of America, the Liberty Square Riverboat, and Tom Sawyer Island are closing on July 7th to make way for the area. Construction walls will come a few weeks after July 7th. We’ll be ready for more details to be announced, so make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for more. Cars from around the country are fueling up to be the wildest racer in the “wheelderness.” Of course, we know that fans are curious to see how the exciting new backdrop for the big rally race will fit into the waters, landscapes, and storytelling at Magic Kingdom. Today, we are excited to share that Piston Peak National Park will continue the sweeping storytelling tradition that has crossed Liberty Square and Frontierland since opening day. Westward Ho! Crossing into New Frontiers at Magic Kingdom Since the early days of Magic Kingdom, adventurous guests have traveled across space and time as they pass from Liberty Square to Frontierland. Starting with architectural influences from upstate New York and colonial America in Liberty Square, before traveling to a bear-y fun concert in the North Woods, a stop by New Orleans at Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, and ending in the Arizona bluffs at Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. At the heart of all these stories are heroic characters with a belief in themselves that helped forge a path to their dreams. To continue this journey in great American storytelling, Piston Peak National Park will be part of the largest expansion in the history of Magic Kingdom. Welcome to Piston Peak National Park Imagine an awe-inspiring wilderness filled with towering trees, snowcapped mountains, breathtaking waterfalls, roaring rivers and impressive geysers. While fictional, Piston Peak is inspired by the Rocky Mountain area and the history and iconic sights of the American Frontier and its national parks. Inside Piston Peak, guests will be able to see and explore the visitor lodge, Ranger HQ, trails and more all set within the Disney and Pixar “Cars” universe. To make sure these buildings fit naturally within the surrounding majestic landscapes, Imagineers are using a style of architecture called “Parkitecture,” which was developed by the National Park Service to create structures that harmonize with the natural environment. From the outside, trees will provide a natural barrier between the off-road rally and other parts of Frontierland and Liberty Square. Rugged mountains with dramatic peaks will be nestled along a calming waterway across from Grizzly Hall and soaring geysers from the famed Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will stretch into the trails of our off-road rally. Cruising Just Around the Bend As work revs into high gear this summer, the Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Square Riverboat will close beginning July 7. Imagineers are also hard at work beyond Big Thunder Mountain Railroad bringing to life the first-ever land inspired by the Disney Villains with two major attractions, dining and shopping all on an incredibly twisted grand scale. But that’s not all happening at the Magic Kingdom. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will reopen next year with new magic, and later this summer, Disney Starlight will grace the streets of Magic Kingdom with its grand debut on July 20, and The Beak and Barrel will welcome pirates of all ages. So follow along every step of the way on the Disney Parks Blog because more details are coming soon. A new area inspired by the Pixar Animation Studios movie Cars is coming to Frontierland in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom! ©Disney This NEW part of Frontierland will be called Piston Peak and will include new theming, two new rides, additional food and beverage options, and a whole lot more. Disney has shared some info here and there about this new area, but now we’ve got details about the queues of BOTH rides! Disney Imagineers recently shared a bit about what we can expect from the NEW Piston Peak area of Frontierland that will be fully Cars-themed. While we got some exciting details about the land itself, Imagineers also shared more details about the queues for both of the new rides coming to this area! Cars Area Concept Art ©Disney Piston Peak is based on Rocky Mountain National Park, which includes red rocks, mountains, rivers, and tons of diverse landscapes. But it’s also based on Disney animated parks, and even existing park buildings like Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and Grizzly Peak in Disney California Adventure! There will be an exciting and thrilling rally race ride that will have you racing through the mountains on wild terrain along mountain trails as you dodge geysers and splash through mud holes. Imagineers revealed that this queue will be housed in the visitor lodge area of Piston Peak National Park, which will be constructed to look like an A-frame mountain lodge. @Disney The second ride coming to Piston Peak will be a family fun attraction, and the queue for that ride will be held in the park ranger lodge. This makes total sense, because as you move through the queue of this ride, you’ll be introduced to a new character — Ranger J. Autobahn Woodlore. This is a nod to Ranger J. ©Disney Disney also shared that Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will be subtly updated to fit into the Piston Peak area — you’ll see rainbow geyser pools scattered around the base of the mountain, and possibly even some tire tread tracks in the dirt! We’ll be on the lookout for more updates on this new area, so make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more. Big news for Florida! Time to dig in! A new bill signed by Governor Ron DeSantis would require restaurants to clearly list automatic tips on menus, websites, and bills in 2026. One part of the bill that affects automatic tips will take effect on July 1st, 2026. Automatic gratuity needs to be clearly listed on menus, written contracts, website, and mobile apps, which includes the amount of percentage of the operations charge and the purpose of the operations charge.” PizzeRizzo Spread Restaurants won’t be able to add extra fees and automatic gratuity to the check without fully warning guests beforehand. The receipt would also need separate lines for gratuity, operations charges, and sales tax. This is to make sure the customer knows what they are being charged and why. Connections Cafe How would this affect your Disney World trip? Automatic gratuity will need to be listed clearly on checks at restaurants throughout the state. Full Spread It should also be noted that this does not include dining plans, dining packages, or a fixed-price meal since “the price of the plan or package or meal is disclosed to the customer before purchase.” Cinderella’s Royal Table The automatic gratuity listings do not go into effect next year, but we’ll be keeping an eye on this bill and any others that can affect your Disney World trip. There’s quite a bit of construction going on in Disney World these days. Polynesian Village Resort lobby From new lands being built (like Villains Land in Magic Kingdom!) to hotel refurbishments (like the room updates happening at Pop Century), there are plenty of projects to keep an eye on. And now, a popular gift shop is getting a refresh at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. On the Disney World website, there’s now a note saying that BouTiki at the Polynesian Village Resort will be undergoing maintenance. The maintenance will be happening through the end of June, so you may see and hear construction work in the area. BouTiki During this maintenance, half of the store will be closed while the other half remains open. If this affects the merchandise availability, just know that you can go upstairs and shop at Moana Mercantile as well. Moana Mercantile BouTiki typically sells a variety of souvenirs, from apparel to bags to housewares. The shop has a fun tiki theme, and we’ll be interested to see if any changes are made with this refurbishment. Tiki Mug Stay tuned to DFB for more updates on refurbishments in Disney World. If you’re not using early entry at Epic Universe, you’re leaving time (and ride count) on the table. Epic Universe Universal hotel guests get into Epic Universe a full hour before the rest of the crowd. That’s twice as much early access as Disney’s 30-minute head start—and yes, it makes a major difference. After testing out a bunch of early entry tricks over multiple visits, I’ve locked in my favorite hacks that genuinely made my day smoother, cooler, and way more productive. Here are five early entry moves that I swear by—and think you should try too. Start at the Other Portals (Not Celestial Park or Nintendo) Here’s what most people do: they get early entry and immediately head to Celestial Park or Super Nintendo World. But here’s the thing—those are already open. That means they’re already filling up with people. Dark Universe If you really want to play this smart, walk past those and head toward one of the other portals, like Dark Universe or The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Those don’t officially open until the full park opens, but you can line up right at the entrance to those areas. That puts you near the front of the line for a high-demand ride before the general crowd floods in. Portal Entrance into Ministry of Magic I’ve done this at the Ministry of Magic portal, and while the Battle for the Ministry ride isn’t open during early entry, tons of people head there to queue up. That line explodes the second the park fully opens—so having a spot near the front is gold. Knock Out Two Big Rides Before Rope Drop If you want the ultimate thrill-chaser strategy, this is the move: go hard during early entry, and you can knock out two major rides before the park technically opens. Mine-Cart Madness Here’s what I did: walked straight from the Helios Grand Hotel entrance to Mine-Cart Madness, rode it, and then hustled over to Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge. With the crowds still trickling in, I made it through both faster than I thought possible. Then, with a chunk of the park still unopened, you can jump in line for either Battle for the Ministry or Monsters Unchained. Mario Kart Bowser’s Challenge It’s a super efficient way to hit big names fast—and it only works if you’re using early entry right. The Hotel Entrance Has Better (and Faster) Lines One of the sneakiest advantages of staying on-site? That dedicated hotel guest entrance. I used the one at Helios Grand Hotel, and let me tell you—this entrance is smoother than anything at the main gate. Exclusive Entrance Instead of waiting outside in the sun with everyone who parked and walked over, you’re indoors, in the A/C, waiting in a line that splits into several smaller lines once security opens. That means shorter wait times, less crowd stress, and a faster path into the park. It’s the kind of thing you don’t think about until you experience both sides—and then you never want to go back. Early Entry = Prime Spot at the Wizarding World Portal Even though Harry Potter and the Battle for the Ministry doesn’t run during early entry, a lot of people head straight for the portal and line up anyway—and for good reason. Wizarding World That ride consistently pulls some of the longest wait times in the park. By getting in early and heading straight to that portal, you’re already way ahead of the rush. When the ride officially opens, you’re among the first on it. No Lightning Lane needed, no hour-long line. Just solid planning and a good early entry game plan. Easy Breaks If You’re Staying at Helios Grand Hotel This one’s more of a comfort hack, but don’t underestimate how helpful it is. If you’re staying at Helios, the access is unbeatable. You’re just steps from the entrance to Epic Universe, and I took full advantage of that. Universal Helios Grand Hotel Forgot sunscreen? Back to the room. Need a break from the heat? Back to the room. Want a midday nap or to swap your gear? You guessed it—back to the room. That “come-and-go” freedom gave me the flexibility to relax and recharge without losing my place in the park. It also meant I didn’t have to pack like I was prepping for a survival challenge. Entering into Epic Universe from Helios Grand Hotel Epic Universe early entry isn’t just a “nice to have”—it’s a power tool. With a full hour of lead time and a hotel entrance that feels like a VIP lane, you can line up for headliners before the main crowd even gets through security. Compare that to Disney’s 30-minute early entry, and yeah…Universal wins this one hands down. Early Entry If you want shorter waits, better ride coverage, and a less chaotic start to your day, these five hacks make early entry work for you. You don’t have to be a pro—just know where to go, and move with purpose. Stay tuned to DFB for more on Epic Universe! We are getting closer and closer to Test Track opening in EPCOT this summer! Test Track construction Disney released new behind-the-scenes pictures, and this makes us want to run to the queue and see the newly reimagined ride for ourselves. It looks like Disney added the new marquee sign to the front of Test Track overnight! We know this might not seem like big news to some, but to us, if the exterior elements are being installed, it’s likely that the inside is almost finished, too. ©Disney Disney still hasn’t released an opening date for the attraction besides late summer 2025, so we’ve been obsessed over every detail to see when it will reopen. ©Disney Wondering what’s happening inside? Test Track is being reimagined with an all-new storyline. It’s drawing references from the original World of Motion, which used to be there, and is completely redesigning the ride vehicles. ©Disney Disney has been quiet on specific details, but we do know that the ride will celebrate the “past, present, and future of automation.” The attraction has been closed since June 2024, so we’re ready to buckle in, pull on the yellow tab, and start riding. ©Disney What else is happening with EPCOT this summer? GEO-82, the Spaceship Earth lounge, will be opening on June 4th. This will be the first adults-only lounge in the Disney World parks and will offer spectacular views of EPCOT along with sophisticated drinks and small bites. GEO-82 There is so much happening at Disney World this summer, and we’re so glad to be taking you all along with us as we explore it for ourselves. Animal Kingdom is changing a lot these days. Tree of Life Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde are getting ready to move in, and the dinosaurs’ extinction is imminent. While we sadly await the official goodbye to DinoLand, we were lucky enough to dig up a new treat in the land! Let’s see if it’s worth excavating. Over in DinoLand U.S.A., you’ll find Dino Bite Snacks (not to be confused with Trilo-Bites). At Dino Bites, you’ll find ice cream, cookies, churros, and more. Dino Bite Snacks! One of our favorite things to grab from this spot is their amazing ice cream sandwiches! While we might love them, they might be a bit much for others. Luckily, Dino Bites has now added a brand new treat. The Dino Eggs-cavation dessert is now available for $5.29! The signage! This treat is made up of a chocolate chunk cookie, cookie crumb-milk mousse, edible sugar bones, and a white chocolate dino egg with a surprise inside! The Dino Eggs -cavation The cookie was really soft, thick, and doughy, which we enjoyed! The mousse has tiny chunks of cookie but leans heavily on the milk flavor. The edible sugar bones dissolved when we were enjoying them, and were essentially sugar. A sneak peek at the mousse They give you a compostable spoon to break into your white chocolate egg to find a surprise white chocolate dinosaur and sprinkles inside the egg! While all of the flavors were fairly simple, we did love the novelty of breaking into the egg. The dino! This treat overall was really sugary, but we could see kiddos loving this! It’s cute, sugary, and an acceptable way to play with your food. It’s not going to reinvent the wheel, but it was a fun afternoon dessert. Another look at the egg! This is a treat that won’t be around forever because DinoLand is closing permanently to make way for Pueblo Esperanza! This new land will feature stories from Indiana Jones and Encanto. It’s expected to open in 2027. DinoLand doesn’t have a formal closing date just yet, but part of the land has already closed to make way for the new land. Construction is already underway For now, we’ll continue digging up these cute treats while we can! As always, be sure to keep following DFB for more Disney reviews and updates. When you think of Disney World, we bet the first thing that comes to mind is Magic Kingdom. Magic Kingdom Magic Kingdom WAS the first park in Disney World, after all, and it remains the most iconic. You can’t think of Disney World without Cinderella Castle, after all. Magic Kingdom is also home to a lot of classic attractions, so if you’re visiting Disney World for the first time, Magic Kingdom is probably the park you have the highest expectations for. BEFORE you go to Magic Kingdom, though, we want to make sure you keep those expectations in check. So let’s just tell you what we wish we had known before we visited Magic Kingdom for the first time. You can’t park at Magic Kingdom If you’re driving to Disney World, you might be surprised when you drive through the big Magic Kingdom gate and then get routed to a parking lot that is NOT at Magic Kingdom. This is the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC), and it’s there because Walt didn’t want the real world (aka, a parking lot) to encroach upon the world of fantasy you step into when you go to Magic Kingdom. To get to Magic Kingdom, you have to park at the Transportation and Ticket Center Walt wanted folks to approach Magic Kingdom by ferry boat or Monorail, so that when you get that glimpse of the land, it’s an untarnished one. So the TTC was built to be the place where mundane real world things existed, like parking lots. If you want to arrive directly at Magic Kingdom, you’ll have to do so via Disney transportation like the Monorail, the ferryboat, or buses. If Your Day Is Going To Be Ruined at Disney World, It’s Gonna Happen at the Transportation and Ticket Center Know the difference between the Monorail routes Once you’re at the Transportation and Ticket Center, you’ll need to know the difference between the Resort and Express Monorail trains. One of those Monorails, the Express, goes directly to Magic Kingdom, while the Resort Monorail makes stops at all the resorts AND Magic Kingdom. Make sure you know which Monorail train to get on In other words, if you want to get to Magic Kingdom quickly, you’ll want to hop on the Express Monorail. What Happens When the Monorail Goes Down in Disney World? How bad the fireworks crowds are The fireworks are the HIGHLIGHT and epic finale of any Magic Kingdom day, but y’all, they are CROWDED. First, you’re going to find almost EVERYONE in the park standing and around Main Street, U.S.A. to see the fireworks. Good luck finding a viewing spot if you don’t do so early (and you might even want to consider a fireworks dessert party just to get a guaranteed good view). Firework Crowds Another thing you won’t be prepared for is trying to leave the parks after the fireworks. EVERYONE is headed the same way (and a lot of them are also heading towards the Monorail), so leaving the parks right after the fireworks becomes a real test of patience. Our best tip? Either leave a little before the fireworks end or you can hang around in the shops or grab a snack at Main Street Confectionery while the big herd of people moves down Main Street towards the exit. The Weird Reason Why Disney World Fireworks Could Be Canceled Holidays are also crowded Sure, it’s magical being in Disney World during holidays like the 4th of July (when there are special fireworks), Thanksgiving, and Christmas. But the problem with that line of thinking is that EVERYONE else is thinking the same thing, meaning holiday crowds are generally NO JOKE in Magic Kingdom. Christmas Crowds in Magic Kingdom Honestly, if you can rearrange your travel plans, avoid Disney World on holidays. If you MUST visit on a holiday, visit a different park while everyone is in Magic Kingdom. This Is the Best Place to Hide in Magic Kingdom You can’t do everything in one day Of all the parks in Disney World, Magic Kingdom has the most attractions. Not only that, but you’ve also got tons of entertainment happening at any given time in the park PLUS characters to meet. If you want to do EVERYTHING in Magic Kingdom, you’re going to need way more than just one day. Wendell in Frontierland However, most of us only ever have one day in Magic Kingdom, so the important thing to do is prioritize those rides you must do and those things you must see first. 5 Magic Kingdom Secrets Disney Doesn’t Want You to Know You can’t just grab a table at a restaurant We’ve seen it time and again: someone walks into Magic Kingdom and tries to grab a table at a restaurant at lunch and are told that no tables are available. That’s because most of Magic Kingdom’s table service restaurants have reservations that fill up FAST, as in 60 days ahead of time. If you haven’t planned your table service meals in Magic Kingdom, you might just be out of luck and stuck eating from carts and quick service spots. Want to dine at Cinderella’s Royal Table? Make a reservation as early as you can. HOWEVER, you could get lucky if there’s availability with the Mobile Walk-Up Waitlist, but that’s no guarantee. If you really want to eat somewhere, book that dining reservation as soon as you can (that’s 60 days in advance from the first day of your trip). Magic Kingdom Has 43 Restaurants, But You Only Need To Know About 4 How much you’ll cry during fireworks Okay, this is for those of us who get emotional at Disney, although we’ve seen a lot of folks lose it and cry in Magic Kingdom. So we’ll just warn you now, the fireworks at Magic Kingdom are SPECIAL and they are meant to reach into your heart and make you feel so much joy, you just can’t take it, and it leaves you sobbing like a baby. Happily Ever After fireworks in Magic Kingdom We’re just preparing you for the waterworks. Bring tissue, and don’t be afraid to cry it out…because everyone else is crying, too. A Former Cast Member Reveals the SECRET Way to Get the BEST Magic Kingdom Fireworks View Overall, we recommend doing your research before you visit Magic Kingdom, so you can make your visit as magical as possible.
