They’re known for their mid-game antics, dance breaks, and more, and if you’ve been over on the West Coast and haven’t been able to see them play, we’ve got great news — they’re coming to Disneyland! If you’re a theme park fan, you know that Universal Orlando’s NEW theme park, Epic Universe, is the biggest news these days. Epic Universe The theme park has been highly anticipated since it was announced in 2019, and many fans are even canceling or shortening their Disney World trips to visit Epic Universe in its first year of operation. With Universal adding a new option on the scene, people are starting to push for a new park from Disney World as well. But as a theme park expert (it’s my job to visit and write about the Central Florida theme parks and their brands), I do NOT want Disney World to introduce a fifth gate right now — for some very important reasons. Let’s start things by acknowledging the differences between Disney World and Universal Orlando. Disney World is already home to four theme parks, two water parks, Disney Springs, and dozens of hotels. Before Epic Universe (and its new hotels), Universal Orlando was home to two parks, one water park, CityWalk, and eight hotels. Universal Studios Florida As someone who looks at financial reports for these two companies as part of my job, Universal is not as close in competition with Disney as you might think. Looking at the theme park segment revenues for the last three months of 2024 (which is fiscal Q4 for Universal and fiscal Q1 for Disney), Universal came in at $2.37 billion (including domestic and international parks), while Disney rolled in a whopping $8.078 billion (including domestic and international parks). Yep, Disney’s theme parks made TRIPLE what Universal’s did during the same time period. Magic Kingdom So when fans assume that the opening of Epic Universe is going to absolutely demolish Disney as a company and wreck them financially…that’s just not true. Universal still has a long way to go to catch up, even if we break things down into domestic park numbers. However, Epic Universe will likely help Universal close that gap somewhat. Portal Entrance to Super Nintendo World From a data standpoint, Disney doesn’t really need to build a fifth gate to “keep up” with Universal — they’re already ahead financially and just in sheer park numbers (4 theme parks vs. Universal’s now 3) and park attendance. But what about from a fandom standpoint? Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run Over the past few years, Disney World has been focusing on building new lands and reimagining existing experiences, as well as adding hotel capacity. Those things just aren’t quite as glitzy or glamorous to fans as an entirely brand-new theme park like Epic Universe, and therefore, people rank them as “less important” in their minds. But here’s the thing, Disney World NEEDS to do the smaller expansions before they could ever think about adding a fifth gate. Pandora Most people treat Disney World as an all-in type of vacation. Many stay on property and don’t leave for the duration of their trip, so the resort needs the capacity in the hotels to house a large portion of the people visiting the parks. And in reverse, they need the park capacity to house all the people staying at the hotels. That’s a big priority these days. Island Tower As Disney World builds new lands into the parks — from Galaxy’s Edge to Villains Land — they’re adding capacity to each park. Have you ever felt cramped in Magic Kingdom? Well, adding a multi-acre land with new attractions and shops will definitely help disperse people! It may draw in additional guests, sure, but those crowds will be offset by more square footage and offerings overall. Villains Land Concept Art ©Disney If Disney World were to build a fifth theme park without first expanding its current parks, it would likely draw in SO many people that the current parks would struggle with capacity. Anyone who’s ever been to a Disney World park on a full-capacity day (like New Year’s Eve or the 50th Anniversary) knows just how miserable that can be. So, if they added a fifth park instead of the expansions, you could probably expect more of those jam-packed full days during your vacation. WOW! Could Disney theoretically build a fifth park in Florida down the line? Yes, they could. However, they first need to complete the current expansions planned, and they may even need more hotel rooms to house those extra people that the park would draw. With so many new lands and attractions on the horizon, it’s likely that many of Disney’s resources are occupied at the moment. It takes a LOT to expand the parks and work on a dozen different projects at once. ©Disney So honestly, I’m glad they haven’t announced a fifth park yet. I may be able to hope for that expansion in my lifetime, but first, I want to get more space in the current parks. Additions like Galaxy’s Edge and Toy Story Land have helped with the crowd flow of Hollywood Studios, so just think what Villains Land and the Frontierland expansion will do for Magic Kingdom. We’ve got some bad news, friends. Magic Kingdom We’re always doing our best to bring you the latest Disney tips and tricks, and some of those include some shortcuts that Disney may noooot want you to know. We don’t encourage breaking rules, but if you haven’t wanted to pay for your PhotoPass photos, you have been able to screenshot them in the app, as long as you don’t mind the logo across the photo. However, we’re sorry to say that this has now CHANGED! The My Disney Experience App has changed, and now, you are unable to screenshot any of your PhotoPass photos. Instead of seeing your photo, you’ll be met with a white screen. White screen! The same thing happens if you attempt a screen recording –– there’s now no way to get your photos from the app without someone else taking a photo OF the photo over your shoulder, or purchasing the photo/purchasing PhotoPass. PhotoPass Photographer This is an unfortunate change that we know will upset many Disney fans, but alas, at this time, there’s no way around it. Disney World works hard to make the parks as safe as possible for guests, but even with all of the precautions in place, injuries can still happen. Cosmic Rewind Safety is a major priority for Disney World, but with millions of people visiting the parks each year, injuries do occasionally happen. And in the first few months of 2025, seven different Disney World rides had injuries reported. Each quarter, a report is released reviewing the injuries reported at the theme parks. Major Florida theme parks must self-report serious incidents where visitors are injured on a ride and are hospitalized for at least 24 hours. The report for the first quarter of 2025 reveals that seven different Disney World attractions had injuries reported during those three months (January 1st, 2025 – March 31st, 2025). Cinderella’s Castle Of the Disney World theme parks, Disney’s Hollywood Studios had the most attractions with injuries reported in the first quarter of 2025. Three rides at Hollywood Studios reported serious injuries: Star Tours – The Adventures Continue, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, and Alien Swirling Saucers. There was one injury reported at each of the attractions. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster One injury was reported at two different Magic Kingdom attractions: Peter Pan’s Flight and Mad Tea Party. Peter Pan’s Flight An injury was also reported at two EPCOT attractions: Frozen Ever After and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. Frozen Ever After During the first quarter of 2025, Disney’s Animal Kingdom was the only Disney World park with no attractions that had reported injuries. Again, this report only includes serious injuries that required at least 24 hours of hospitalization, so incidents where someone had a minor injury but continued on with their day are not counted. Tree of Life While serious injuries are relatively rare, it’s important to take steps to reduce your chances of getting hurt while visiting the parks. The precautions you can take include reading warning signs, checking in with your body, listening to Cast Member instructions, and being cautious as you experience attractions. Not all injuries can be prevented, but being mindful of these preventative steps can help keep you safe. Always read the warning signs! Disney announced the cancellation of a popular Disney World Hotel holiday staple…and we’re struggling to understand why. Grand Floridian The holiday season at Disney World is truly magical — packed with ride overlays, special events, and festive theming. We’re accustomed to seeing giant gingerbread houses at the hotels, but in 2025, one major resort is bucking the trend and not featuring its iconic gingerbread house this winter. According to Disney World, the famous gingerbread house at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa WON’T be on display in this holiday season. Grand Floridian Gingerbread House Disney’s reasoning is that the hotel lobby is still undergoing its lengthy refurbishment, and, therefore, the gingerbread house will be without its traditional home. Still, we don’t understand why the Grand Floridian can’t get creative instead of cancelling a tradition that has gone on over the last 25 years. Grand Floridian tree and gingerbread house In the past, the lobby drew massive crowds as they gazed upon this festive feature and chowed down on tasty seasonal treats. We can’t help but feel that not bringing back this tradition in some capacity is a huge miss on Disney’s part. Gingerbread shingle Why not relocate the gingerbread house to somewhere else on property, like the convention center? There’s certainly enough space! Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort Per Disney, the lobby refurbishment is set to run through November 2025, and the space constraints will limit the hotel’s ability to build the large gingerbread house. Unfortunately, no alternative space was recommended, and that’s that. We’d rather the hotel put the gingerbread somewhere else in the massive resort instead of breaking with tradition, but we digress. Can you believe that’s gingerbread? Fortunately, the gingerbread castle at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, the Beach Club gingerbread carousel, and the BoardWalk’s mini gingerbread model will all still be on display this year. Later this year, Disneyland is set to unveil a new show called “Walt Disney — A Magical Life,” which will feature an all-new animatronic of Walt Disney. ©Disney Disney has stood by the fact that this new animatronic will be one of their most technologically advanced and impressive creations in the animatronic world. While much of this new attraction is still being kept under wraps, a recent preview of the show included an early sculpt of the animatronic. As it turns out, its realism may pose an ethical question some don’t agree with. According to the LA Times, Imagineering previewed the new show for a select group of media, and an early sculpt of the animatronic was revealed. It had “age spots on Disney’s hands and weariness around his eyes,” and Imagineers stressed that their intention in including such details and others like it is a true, faithful portrayal of Walt Disney. ©New York Times The animatronic itself wasn’t shown, but Imagineering showed the sculpt in an effort to show the care they’re taking in bringing Disney “back to life” in such a way. When the show idea was debuted last summer, Josh D’Amaro confirmed that this project was being done with the support of Disney’s family, including Disney’s grandnephew, Roy P. Disney, who was sitting in the audience. ©The Walt Disney Family Museum Despite this, the project is still heavily debated in the Disney community, with many feeling that any project bringing back someone deceased using technology (whether it be animatronic, holographic imaging, and/or digitally re-created cinematic animations could be seen as exploitative and dehumanizing. One of the most vocal about her opposition to the project was none other than Walt Disney’s granddaughter, Joanna Miller, in a Facebook post. Photos of Walt Disney in One Man’s Dream Longtime Imagineer Tom Fitzgerald confirmed that this Walt Disney animatronic aims to represent Disney in 1963, just three years before his death in 1966. He went on to talk about details they’ve paid close attention to when creating this animatronic, such as the ability to speak with its hands, as Walt so frequently did, showcase his expressive eyebrows, and recreate how Disney often didn’t blink when he spoke, so Imagineers were careful to line up the animatronic’s “blink profile” with filmed footage. Imagineer Jeff Shaver-Moskowit also confirmed that all the dialogue will be taken from Walt Disney’s speeches — no false words or phrases will be included. ©Disney Multiple members of Disney’s descendants sit on various boards that the Walt Disney Family Museum is associated with, and they have pledged their support of the project, feeling that Walt’s fascination with art and technology, specifically how the two combined, means he would likely have really liked the project. ©Disney We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all the latest Disney news regarding this project and beyond, so stay tuned to DFB. The Walt Disney Company’s 2025 second-quarter earnings call is coming up, and we’re hoping to hear some major updates. ©Disney | Walt Disney Company Headquarters These earnings calls provide The Walt Disney Company the opportunity to share with shareholders — and other interested parties — the company’s economic outlook as well as some updates on future projects and projections. In the past, we’ve heard about Disney+ and theme park developments, and we feel like similar updates could be made when the call takes place on May 7th. Disney Starlight Update Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away is an upcoming nighttime parade at Magic Kingdom that is set to open sometime this summer. ©Disney Inspired by the Main Street Electrical Parade, this new parade will be “using the latest technology to tell new stories about the characters you love.” ©Disney We’ll get to see special floats featuring characters from films such as Encanto, Frozen, Moana, The Princess and the Frog, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Beauty and the Beast, Coco, Wish, and Peter Pan. ©Disney We’re hoping Disney announces the actual opening date during the call, as it should be quickly approaching! Why We’re Anxious About the New Nighttime Parade Coming to Magic Kingdom This Year Box Office Projections So far, 2025 has not been kind to the Disney box office numbers — its original bread and butter. Both Snow White and Marvel’s Captain America: Brave New World turned in modest returns and didn’t live up to the media juggernaut’s expectations. However, that doesn’t mean things can’t turn around for Disney. ©Disney This summer could actually be MASSIVE for Disney’s box office. Marvel’s Thunderbolts* was just released and is getting great word-of mouth, The Fantastic Four: First Steps is another highly anticipated Marvel release that comes out on July 25th, Disney and Pixar’s Elio — which releases on June 20th — has the potential to be a big hit, and it’ll be SHOCKING if the live action Lilo & Stitch — which comes out on May 23rd — doesn’t get close to or break the billion dollar threshold. ©Disney Disney has every reason to be incredibly optimistic about its 2025 box office returns, and we expect them to touch on that point during the call. “Stitch Is SO Back!” NEW LOOK at the Live-Action ‘Lilo & Stitch’ Disney Movie Changes Coming to Tokyo Disney Recently, the Oriental Land Company, owners of Tokyo Disney Resort, shared very early concept art of potential changes and expansions coming to the Resort. These changes include some overhauls at Adventureland and Westernland at Tokyo Disneyland, as well as updates coming to Port Discovery at Tokyo DisneySea. ©Disney Concept art indicated that the Jungle Cruise, Enchanted Tiki Room, the Swiss Family Treehouse, and the Western River Railroad would all be removed to make way for new experiences — a process that would take place through 20235. ©Disney It appears as though Paradise Falls from Up could be in the works as a new land, while Aquatopia over at Tokyo DisneySea might be saying goodbye for good. ©Disney While it might be wishful thinking for Disney to expand on these blue sky ideas at the earnings call, that won’t stop us from hoping for some sort of clarification. ©Disney You can follow the earnings call LIVE on May 7th, 2025, via an audio webcast at 8:30 AM ET / 5:30 AM PT. There are a lot of new additions coming to Disneyland Resort over the course of the next few decades thanks to the HUGE DisneylandForward expansion. ©Disney There’s a LOT coming to Disneyland Resort, including a Pandora: World of Avatar Expansion and the first-ever Coco attraction coming to DCA, as well as an Avengers Campus expansion. Well, some construction is currently underway, and while we’re really looking forward to all the new additions, it does mean that one of our favorite shortcuts is now CLOSED! One of the fastest ways to make your way to and from Radiator Springs and Avengers Campus in Disney California Adventure is by this little shortcut that cuts between the two lands. It’s one of our favorite ways to avoid backtracking and save ourselves some steps, but now that there is construction around Avengers Campus, this path is CLOSED! The shortcut We totally understand why it has to be closed, as this is partly where a lot of the new construction is taking place, but dang, we’re bummed that we’ll have to walk all the way out of Avengers Campus now to get around to Radiator Springs. While the park isn’t huge, it’ll easily take a couple of extra minutes at minimum if you’re speed walking, and longer if you’re taking more of a leisurely stroll. Wall blocking off the shortcut Disney did not share an exact date for when this shortcut will open back up, so stay tuned for additional updates. More Recent Disneyland Resort News! ALERT! Now is a great time to plan a trip to Disneyland Resort because SO much is going on — and even more is coming soon. Disneyland Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary Celebration kicks off on May 16th and will bring new ride additions, brand-new attractions, the return of fan-favorite parades, and, of course, new eats and treats! But, even before the festivities kick off, we’re checking out some recently released snacks around Disneyland New and limited-time eats just debuted around Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure, so you know we had to check them out! Edelweiss Snacks We stopped by this snack spot for the Matterhorn Puff, which is filled with cheesecake, lemon curd, and fresh blueberries, topped with white chocolate and snow sugar. Matterhorn Cream Puff This treat is absolutely delicious! There were SO many flavors going on, but in the best way. The cheesecake and lemon curd are a refreshing flavor together. It is served cold, so when you take that first bite, it has a cold bite to it, which makes it so refreshing! Nice and custardy! There aren’t as many blueberries as we had hoped, but it doesn’t take away from how good this is. The white chocolate on the puff pastry adds a rich sweetness to the tart filling. Tropical Hideaway The Matcha Float is a DOLE WHIP made with strawberry and mango swirl, topped with white chocolate drizzle, and toasted coconut. Matcha Float Matcha can be a divisive flavor, which is why we’re not sure about this one! The flavors are good individually, just weird when they’re all stirred up together. We liked the aftertaste more than the actual taste when we were sipping on it. We really wanted to like it, but it’s just not our favorite DOLE WHIP flavor. Mint Julep Bar Over at the Mint Julep Bar, we picked up the Pineapple Mickey Beignets for $6.49 — which basically sound like DOLE WHIP beignets to us. These are pineapple beignets with pineapple powdered sugar, and we just have to say WOW. Pineapple Mickey Beignets We were honestly surprised by how good these truly were! Fair warning, they are VERY tart. We were hoping they would have a pineapple-type filling, but looks-wise, they are your standard Mickey beignets. They’re nice and fluffy and are served warm. The flavor all comes from the pineapple powdered sugar. Pineapple Mickey Beignets There is so much flavor in the sugar that it tastes like a tart pineapple candy. It doesn’t taste fake or anything, but that first bite may give you a pucker! Cozy Cone Motel 1 We were intrigued by the Banana Cone-Nanza Churros here. These are classic churros topped with banana cream and chocolate dust. Unfortunately, we did NOT love these. Banana Cone-Nanza Churro The banana cream is like a whipped cream consistency, and honestly, it had a fake aftertaste that wasn’t very banana and was more chemical. The churro itself is pure perfection, but the whipped cream is a no-go for us. It would have been better if it were like a custard on top, or even in a dipping cup. Aunt Cass Cafe We stopped for the Strawberries & Cream Cold Brew at Aunt Cass Cafe for $7.29. This is a vanilla cream cold brew topped with strawberry cold foam. This was really good and a fun combination! Super sweet and has more of a chocolate-covered strawberry taste to it. It’s also on the thicker side in terms of consistency — we would almost say it’s like a melted milkshake. Strawberries & Cream Cold Brew The strawberry foam on top is tart and offers a great addition to the vanilla cold brew. We liked the flavors together, but the coffee alone was too sweet, and the strawberry foam was too tart, if that makes sense. If you like trying interesting cold brews, then definitely try this one; however, it’s more on the sweet dessert side and not heavy on the coffee flavor. Tiana’s Palace More coffee? Yes, please! The Beignet-flavored Cold Brew is $6.29. You can get this with or without a cream topper, which we opted to get. Beignet-flavored Cold Brew We were excited about this, and while it was good, we didn’t get beignet flavors at all. The taste was very familiar and sweet, and closer to Oreo or cookies and cream, if anything. The cream topper was tasty and sweet, and this will make most coffee drinkers happy, but there’s nothing distinctly beignet flavored here. Red Rose Taverne Next up is the S’mores Butter Cake Sundae, which you can grab for $8.49. This is a chocolate butter cake topped with vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce, graham cracker crumbs, and toasted marshmallow. S’mores Butter Cake Sundae There’s not a single thing we don’t like about this, and you definitely get a s’mores flavor. Lots of chocolate is happening here, and it does overpower the dish at times. The marshmallows are actually toasted, so it’s safe to say you won’t be disappointed in that flavor — it really adds that nice smokiness. Not enough Graham cracker taste, though! Various Outdoor Vending You’ll find the Pull-apart Pizza Bread at various outdoor vending locations throughout Disney California Adventure, which you can pick up for $10.75. It’s filled with seasoned ricotta and topped with marinara sauce, mozzarella, and pepperoni slices. Pepperoni Pull-apart Bread This thing may look small, but it’s PACKED with carbs, making it deceptively filling. The mozzarella is baked into the bread, which helps maintain a lighter, gooier texture. This was very, very tasty and soft. How could you hate this? It’s served very hot, making it great for when you’re on the go. The Hawaiian rolls are also really reliably tasty. It’s closer to cheese bread than actual pizza, but the pepperoni makes it the perfect cheese bread-pizza combo. It’s also perfectly shareable! Cinderella Castle Disney just released its Disney World ticket prices for Florida Residents this summer, and you’re going to want to take advantage of these deals! First off, if you’re planning a Disney World vacation and you want to get the best deal possible (and who does NOT want to get the best deal possible — SHOW YOURSELVES!), I want to remind you that using a travel agent who specializes in Disney vacations will not cost you a penny. Disney World pricing changes depending on the day of the year you go, the park you choose to go to (Magic Kingdom vs Animal Kingdom), and, in this case, residency status. Florida residents get an excellent pricing option in comparison to normal park day tickets, and these Magic Summer tickets are a reflection of just that. Tree of Life Getting a 4-Day ticket for $240, 3-Day for $225, and 2-Day for $210 is an insane discount from normal ticket pricing. We’re talking a significant drop, and this isn’t an offer you’ll want to miss! There are also add-on options if you’re looking to add more to your Disney vacation. Parade! The add-on options for the Florida Resident Magic Summer tickets include: Park Hopper Option – +$40 Per Ticket, Plus Tax This allows you to visit more than one park in one day. Water Park and Sports Option – +$35 Per Ticket, Plus Tax Get a certain number of visits to a water park, golf course, or miniature golf course based on the length of your ticket. This is in addition to your theme park entry. For example, if you purchase a 3-Day Florida Resident Summer Magic Ticket with the Water Park and Sports option, you can visit a Disney World theme park on 3 days with an advance theme park reservation — and visit a Disney water park on 3 additional days by September 27th, 2025. Park Hopper Plus Option – +$53 Per Ticket, Plus Tax Visit more than one theme park on the same day. Plus, get a certain number of visits to a water park, golf course, or miniature golf course based on the length of your ticket. There is so much happening with the Disney Parks right now that it can be hard to keep up. Disney World will be getting four new lands in the coming years. Disneyland will be getting a new land, and both parks will be getting new attractions, shows, and more! Disneyland Paris Even more Disney Park expansions are happening in Europe, as Disneyland Paris is getting a park reimagined. It’s the transformation from Walt Disney Studios into Disney Adventure World. It’s going to include so many fun lands and attractions that have never been seen before in a Disney Park! Disney has some massive plans for Disney Adventure World in Paris. They had people freaking out with excitement when they announced that a ride themed to The Lion King, would be coming to a Disney Park for the FIRST TIME EVER! Originally at the D23 Expo in 2024, they dropped concept art for the ride, revealing that it would be themed after the live-action adaptation. However, they treated fans even more recently when it was revealed that the ride would now be themed to the animated classic! ©Disney It will be a log flume ride, very similar to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, and it will tell Simba’s story in a new way! Of course, the ride will feature some of the most iconic songs from the animated film. The ride will also feature some of our favorite characters like Simba, Timon, Pumbaa, and more! ©IMDb What we’re really here to talk about, though, is the brand-new ride that will be themed after Disney Pixar’s UP! This will be the first ride ever themed to the beloved animated film, at any Disney park in the world. The ride will be placed in “Adventure Way”, the main promenade that connects the existing theme park area to the expanded lake area. The attraction will be located right across from the Rapunzel Tangled Spin ride (another new ride that will be coming). ©Disney It will be a family-friendly, all-new swinging attraction, and it looks like you’ll feel like you’re flying like Carl and Russell. Imagine the view of the park you’ll be able to get from the heights of this ride. This ride will have us truly feeling like “adventure is out there”! ©IMDb This all-new experience will add to the many family-friendly offerings that Disneyland Paris has. It’ll also elevate the dynamic of this area of Adventure Way, completing the lush landscape and giving guests the opportunity to take part in a wide variety of adventures. FINALLY! Disney World just made it much easier to visit three of the resort’s most in-demand locations. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort lobby Earlier this week, rumors began to swirl that Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort would be altering its parking policy to allow non-resort guests to park in the hotel’s main parking lot if they were dining at spots that do NOT require a reservation after 2 PM. In the past, Disney has been VERY strict about its parking rules at the hotels close to Magic Kingdom, so if true, this would be a MAJOR game-changer. So, we went to investigate! On our recent visit to Disney World, we stopped by the Polynesian Village Resort and spoke to a Cast Member about the potential parking change. They confirmed that the policy change was indeed taking place! We were told that beginning at 2 PM, those who dine at any of the resort’s dining locations that don’t accept regular reservations can park at the Polynesian Resort, even if you’re not staying at the hotel. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Now, this rule is subject to change. In fact, the Cast Member stressed that this perk is based on the availability of parking spots. Hotel guest parking will always take priority, meaning that it’s not a guarantee that non-hotel guests will have spots available to them all the time. We expect busy times of year, like the holiday season, to revert to the old “NO non-hotel guest parking” rule. Imagine this: You’re strolling through Epic Universe, getting ready for a meal so you can refuel for more fun — when you get a sketchy-looking text that appears to be from Universal. Epic Universe Is it legit? Is it a scam? Are you being catfished by a theme park? Don’t worry — it’s not that serious. We can explain. We were at Epic Universe the other day, waiting for our reservation at the Atlantic restaurant, when we got a text that sort of appeared sketchy at first — since we had never received a text like this from Universal before (they do have an incredible hotel texting system, but it doesn’t apply to the parks!). While we did have a reservation for this restaurant, we weren’t sure if we should click the link in the text message. Sketchy text??? Spoiler alert: we did anyway. WE KNOW, we know — but we had to know the truth, you know? Anyway, the link brought us to this website that was even SKETCHIER-looking, which kind of had us worried. It’s all good! But, have no fear — we confirmed with an Epic Universe Team Member that this was, in fact, totally legitimate. They told us that Universal is using a third-party system to confirm bookings once they’ve been made, which is why the website is not the official Universal one. Atlantic So, if you make a dining reservation at Epic Universe and receive a text asking you to confirm or cancel your booking, chances are it’s legit. Of course, you should always proceed with caution in situations like this and make sure the information looks real before proceeding, but when it comes to Epic Universe — you should be good. There are plenty of WILD things to do at Disney World that you can’t do anywhere else, but the wildest ones happen at (where else?!) Animal Kingdom! Disney’s Animal Kingdom This park isn’t just home to excellent rides, stellar restaurants, and incredible character experiences; it’s also home to some seriously amazing animals. There are plenty of trails and, of course, Kilimanjaro Safaris, but the BEST way to really get up close and personal with the animals is on the Wild Africa Trek — some come along with us! The Wild Africa Trek is a three-hour tour of the Safi River Valley — an area of Animal Kingdom park that is typically unseen by guests. Wild Africa Trek This privately guided tour offers amazing (and close!) views of many of the animals that call Animal Kingdom home. Giraffes, rhinos, hippos, and crocodiles may all make appearances on the tour, which combines walking and riding in a safari vehicle, including the crossing of an open bridge. Safari Truck Check-in takes place at the Curiosity Animal Tours kiosk just outside the entrance to Kilimanjaro Safaris. Here is where you’ll meet your guides, put your belongings in lockers, and have all the requirements and rules explained to you. Getting set up You’ll also step on a scale so they can determine what size vest you’ll need, plus you’ll be given wristlets to attach your phone or camera for photos. Everything you bring must be connected to you, so it doesn’t fall into the animal enclosures — leave your MagicBand in your locker. This is where you’ll check in. You’ll also get a headset so you can listen to the guides, a water bottle (to keep!), and a name tag. Souvenir water bottle! The tour began as we walked through most of the Gorilla Falls train to get back to the hippos. Right by the meerkats is where we started walking on a trail that normal guests can’t go down. We were harnessed above the hippos on a ledge, and as long as you’re brave, you can go right up to the edge. They had a bucket of lettuce and tried to get the hippos to come over for a feeding, but the hippos didn’t want to (they only do positive reinforcement, so if the hippos don’t want to come over, they don’t have to). The behind-the-scenes trail We learned that there are 11 hippos at Animal Kingdom, which is the most in human care in North America. They have the “World Showcase of Hippos” from France, Germany, Mexico, and more, and most have been here since opening day! No hippos here! Next, we kept walking through a trail and ended over with the crocodiles! You do have to climb a treehouse-looking stand that’s a couple of stories tall, where the Cast Members will hook your harness up to a rope bridge! The first rope bridge goes over the road that safari trucks drive on past the crocodiles. It wasn’t super shaky, but it did wobble a little. This part takes a while because the tour guides ask that you keep half the bridge’s length of distance from the person in front of you. Crocodile bridge There’s a second bridge that goes over the enclosure. Crocs under your feet, people!!! Once we were done with the second bridge and on the ground, there was a water refill station, hand sanitizer, and free cooling towels you also get to keep. Refreshment station Then, we were hooked to another harness while standing around the crocodile enclosure — and we could stand on the ledge if we wanted to. Also, Kermit is the crocodile hanging out by the bridge! Close to the crocs! We then walked a little bit further on the trail to get to our safari vehicle. It’s a special truck in which everyone sits on the walls of the truck, so it’s easier to see the animals. On the Wild Africa Trek, you go through some of the regular Kilimanjaro Safaris attraction, but you’re also able to go off path and stop the truck to look at specific animals. Safari truck We drove RIGHT UP to the giraffes and sat there for at least five minutes. It was very cool. You can ask any questions, and the Cast Members tell stories and facts you won’t hear on the attraction. Look at these giraffes! Then, it was time for a bite to eat at the boma! Boma means “safe place” in Swahili. This is where you get snacks and POG juice. The boma We only had a short time here, about 15 minutes once we all sat down with the food. It was SO cool to see the animals while we snacked, but none of them were super close to the boma. The boma does have restrooms, though, as there is no time for a bathroom break in the first two hours of the tour. Boma bathrooms The container your food comes in is called a Tiffin (aka, why the restaurant is named that), it has various snacky items like: Garlic and leek hummus and pita Prosciutto and mozzarella Olive mix with pickles Fresh fruit Chicken wrap Marinated tandoori shrimp Our snacks All of it was very yummy, but don’t expect it to be a full meal and fill you up (you also don’t have very long here, at least our group didn’t, but it likely was because we took a bit longer on the bridge). More eats! Then, it was back on the truck to finish out the safari, where we were stopped for just a minute by the cheetahs, but not for long! We later made it back to the lockers, returned all our gear, and said goodbye to the friends we made along the way! Goodbye for now! Keep in mind that the tour guides bring along a professional camera and take photos while you’re doing the trek, along with the animals you meet along the way. You’ll get all of these photos included in the price of the tour — they give you a PhotoPass card at the end that you can scan to download your photos, which should show up within 24-48 hours. PhotoPass card These three-hour guided tours are offered multiple times daily, with starting times typically beginning as early as 8 AM and running through 12:30 PM. The cost isn’t cheap, but it’s an incredible experience that is totally worth it. You’ll be spending between $219.00 and $229.00, tax not included. Do this if you get the opportunity! Disney World’s water parks are pretty popular these days! Summit Plummet at Blizzard Beach Since 2025 kicked off, Disney World Resort guests have been given the perk of free admission to a Disney World water park on their check-in day. This means that a LOT more people are heading to Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon than before! And here at DFB, it’s our job to make sure you know how to eat when you visit the water parks — let’s dive into our list of must-try and must-skip items at Blizzard Beach. The Must-Tries Starting out with our list of must-try items, you know we have to mention the mini donuts at the Joffrey’s Mini Donuts stand! These come in sizes of 6 or 12, and you can order chocolate, raspberry, or white chocolate dipping sauces for an upcharge. A really fun and unique snack for the water park! Mini Donuts! For lunch, we recommend heading over to Lottawatta Lodge and snagging one of their flatbread pizzas. They offer traditional pepperoni and cheese flavors, but the real winner here is the White Cap Flatbread. It’s made with chicken breast, bacon, white sauce, mozzarella, red onion, and tomato. YUM! White Cap Flatbread If you’re a beer drinker, there’s a great deal for you at Blizzard Beach! Select locations offer beer in a souvenir cup…and those souvenir cups are refillable. This is a STEAL if you plan on snagging multiple adult beverages throughout the day. Avalunch Over at I.C. Expeditions, you can grab the iconic Sand Pail Sundae, made with vanilla and chocolate soft serve, sprinkles, waffle cone pieces, yellow cake, hot fudge, caramel sauce, whipped cream, and topped with a cherry. It’s served in a sand pail complete with a little shovel, which is a great souvenir to take home! It’s $17.99, but it’s definitely shareable. Sand Pail Sundae For some more delicious treats, you’ll want to head over to the Warming Hut. Here, you can pick up a Disney Parks classic — Dole Whip! They serve Orange Dole Whip in a waffle cone at this location, and you can even get it swirled with vanilla soft serve. If you ask us, it’s the perfect treat for a hot day at a water park. Orange Dole Whip Also at the Warming Hut, you’ll find the Elote Nachos. They’re topped with roasted pork, elote cheese sauce, guacamole, sour cream, roasted corn, jalapenos, and pico de gallo. And yes, they’re just as delicious as they sound! A great combination of meaty, savory, fresh, and bright flavors, and a hearty portion to go along with it. Elote Nachos But what about the options that you may want to skip? The Skips First on our list of skips is Joffrey’s coffee, but SPECIFICALLY from the Mini Donuts stand. Instead, you’ll want to get your coffee at the Joffrey’s Coffee kiosk, where they have more options. (And, in our opinion, better brews!) Blizzard Beach Joffrey’s During a recent visit, we tried the Apple Pie Churro at I.C. Expeditions, and it was a huge disappointment. It’s essentially a series of mini churros topped with apple pie filling, and even though that sounds good in theory, it was a mess to eat, and the flavors weren’t as deep as we hoped they would be. Womp womp. Apple Pie Churro On the menu at a few snack spots, you’ll find some basic Disney snacks like the Mickey pretzel. And for us, this is a no-go. It’s not unique to the water parks, and it’s just a lot of carbs to weigh you down on a day when you probably want to feel lighter. There are definitely better options in Blizzard Beach! Mickey Pretzel The water parks don’t have quite as many food or snack options as the theme parks do, but there are still some must-haves during your visit. If you plan ahead, you can have an absolutely delicious day! When you’re out in the sun having fun, it’s important to stay fueled and hydrated. Are you considering traveling to the Caribbean anytime soon? We suggest catching up on the U.S. State Department’s most recent travel warnings for the area. Disney Cruise Line The Caribbean island cluster is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Western Hemisphere, with millions of Americans flocking to the region by plane and cruise each year. However, the U.S. State Department has issued a series of travel warnings for the area that may give some potential travelers pause. The State Department breaks its travel advisory scale into four levels, with 1 being the least severe and 4 being the most. Currently, Haiti is the only Caribbean Country listed at Level 4 by the State Department, warning NOT to travel there. The country is listed as having a severe risk of “crime and kidnapping” for American citizens. As of writing, Carnival has paused cruises to Labadee, Haiti, due to the perceived dangers of traveling there. ©Carnival The State Department’s third level of Trade Advisory recommends that Americans reconsider visiting a location, but stops short of advising them clearly not to. Currently, Caribbean countries under a Level 3 Advisory are Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, and Guyana, all of which for risk of crime, terrorism, and kidnapping. The second level of Warning issued by the State Department calls for visitors to exercise “increased” caution. Caribbean countries currently at Level 2 warning levels include the Bahamas (a major port for many of the world’s largest cruise lines, including Disney), Belize Cuba, and Turks and Caicos. Disney’s Nassau Port in the Bahamas Finally, there’s Level 1, in which visitors are advised to exercise normal precautions. Caribbean countries under this lowest level of State Department warning are Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Grenada, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Dominica, and Suriname. Step aside, every other Avenger, because the greatest Super-Soldier of all time has arrived! It’s Alexei Shostakov’s time to shine! He’s made it! He’s here! Here, of course, is Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure park at the Disneyland Resort. And you might know Alexei better via his long-standing Super Hero moniker — the Red Guardian! A man who is strong and supportive, he is excited to visit the campus and finally meet all the other Super Heroes he has heard about, so maybe you can help him find them! (when he’s not dabbling with his other job, Red Guardian Limo Service — be sure to ask about it!). Oh, and if you happen to see Captain America strolling around, be sure to spread the word of how awesome, incredible, and fearsome Red Guardian is… Red Guardian’s already hosted distinguished and notable guests at Avengers Campus, like his #1 super-fan, David Harbour. The actor stopped by Avengers Campus to trade stories with him, probably about coaching youth soccer. Those looking to tell Red Guardian how cool he is can find him throughout the day at Avengers Campus for a limited time. Be sure to check the Disneyland App for the most up-to-date information on when you may spot him, as his patrol times are subject to change! And when you’re done saving the day with Red Guardian at Avengers Campus, see him on the big screen (with all his anti-hero friends) in Thunderbolts*, now only in theaters.
