If you’re not using early entry at Epic Universe, you’re leaving time (and ride count) on the table. Epic Universe Universal hotel guests get into Epic Universe a full hour before the rest of the crowd. That’s twice as much early access as Disney’s 30-minute head start—and yes, it makes a major difference. After testing out a bunch of early entry tricks over multiple visits, I’ve locked in my favorite hacks that genuinely made my day smoother, cooler, and way more productive. Here are five early entry moves that I swear by—and think you should try too. Start at the Other Portals (Not Celestial Park or Nintendo) Here’s what most people do: they get early entry and immediately head to Celestial Park or Super Nintendo World. But here’s the thing—those are already open. That means they’re already filling up with people. Dark Universe If you really want to play this smart, walk past those and head toward one of the other portals, like Dark Universe or The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Those don’t officially open until the full park opens, but you can line up right at the entrance to those areas. That puts you near the front of the line for a high-demand ride before the general crowd floods in. Portal Entrance into Ministry of Magic I’ve done this at the Ministry of Magic portal, and while the Battle for the Ministry ride isn’t open during early entry, tons of people head there to queue up. That line explodes the second the park fully opens—so having a spot near the front is gold. Knock Out Two Big Rides Before Rope Drop If you want the ultimate thrill-chaser strategy, this is the move: go hard during early entry, and you can knock out two major rides before the park technically opens. Mine-Cart Madness Here’s what I did: walked straight from the Helios Grand Hotel entrance to Mine-Cart Madness, rode it, and then hustled over to Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge. With the crowds still trickling in, I made it through both faster than I thought possible. Then, with a chunk of the park still unopened, you can jump in line for either Battle for the Ministry or Monsters Unchained. Mario Kart Bowser’s Challenge It’s a super efficient way to hit big names fast—and it only works if you’re using early entry right. The Hotel Entrance Has Better (and Faster) Lines One of the sneakiest advantages of staying on-site? That dedicated hotel guest entrance. I used the one at Helios Grand Hotel, and let me tell you—this entrance is smoother than anything at the main gate. Exclusive Entrance Instead of waiting outside in the sun with everyone who parked and walked over, you’re indoors, in the A/C, waiting in a line that splits into several smaller lines once security opens. That means shorter wait times, less crowd stress, and a faster path into the park. It’s the kind of thing you don’t think about until you experience both sides—and then you never want to go back. Early Entry = Prime Spot at the Wizarding World Portal Even though Harry Potter and the Battle for the Ministry doesn’t run during early entry, a lot of people head straight for the portal and line up anyway—and for good reason. Wizarding World That ride consistently pulls some of the longest wait times in the park. By getting in early and heading straight to that portal, you’re already way ahead of the rush. When the ride officially opens, you’re among the first on it. No Lightning Lane needed, no hour-long line. Just solid planning and a good early entry game plan. Easy Breaks If You’re Staying at Helios Grand Hotel This one’s more of a comfort hack, but don’t underestimate how helpful it is. If you’re staying at Helios, the access is unbeatable. You’re just steps from the entrance to Epic Universe, and I took full advantage of that. Universal Helios Grand Hotel Forgot sunscreen? Back to the room. Need a break from the heat? Back to the room. Want a midday nap or to swap your gear? You guessed it—back to the room. That “come-and-go” freedom gave me the flexibility to relax and recharge without losing my place in the park. It also meant I didn’t have to pack like I was prepping for a survival challenge. Entering into Epic Universe from Helios Grand Hotel Epic Universe early entry isn’t just a “nice to have”—it’s a power tool. With a full hour of lead time and a hotel entrance that feels like a VIP lane, you can line up for headliners before the main crowd even gets through security. Compare that to Disney’s 30-minute early entry, and yeah…Universal wins this one hands down. Early Entry If you want shorter waits, better ride coverage, and a less chaotic start to your day, these five hacks make early entry work for you. You don’t have to be a pro—just know where to go, and move with purpose. Stay tuned to DFB for more on Epic Universe! We are getting closer and closer to Test Track opening in EPCOT this summer! Test Track construction Disney released new behind-the-scenes pictures, and this makes us want to run to the queue and see the newly reimagined ride for ourselves. It looks like Disney added the new marquee sign to the front of Test Track overnight! We know this might not seem like big news to some, but to us, if the exterior elements are being installed, it’s likely that the inside is almost finished, too. ©Disney Disney still hasn’t released an opening date for the attraction besides late summer 2025, so we’ve been obsessed over every detail to see when it will reopen. ©Disney Wondering what’s happening inside? Test Track is being reimagined with an all-new storyline. It’s drawing references from the original World of Motion, which used to be there, and is completely redesigning the ride vehicles. ©Disney Disney has been quiet on specific details, but we do know that the ride will celebrate the “past, present, and future of automation.” The attraction has been closed since June 2024, so we’re ready to buckle in, pull on the yellow tab, and start riding. ©Disney What else is happening with EPCOT this summer? GEO-82, the Spaceship Earth lounge, will be opening on June 4th. This will be the first adults-only lounge in the Disney World parks and will offer spectacular views of EPCOT along with sophisticated drinks and small bites. GEO-82 There is so much happening at Disney World this summer, and we’re so glad to be taking you all along with us as we explore it for ourselves. Animal Kingdom is changing a lot these days. Tree of Life Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde are getting ready to move in, and the dinosaurs’ extinction is imminent. While we sadly await the official goodbye to DinoLand, we were lucky enough to dig up a new treat in the land! Let’s see if it’s worth excavating. Over in DinoLand U.S.A., you’ll find Dino Bite Snacks (not to be confused with Trilo-Bites). At Dino Bites, you’ll find ice cream, cookies, churros, and more. Dino Bite Snacks! One of our favorite things to grab from this spot is their amazing ice cream sandwiches! While we might love them, they might be a bit much for others. Luckily, Dino Bites has now added a brand new treat. The Dino Eggs-cavation dessert is now available for $5.29! The signage! This treat is made up of a chocolate chunk cookie, cookie crumb-milk mousse, edible sugar bones, and a white chocolate dino egg with a surprise inside! The Dino Eggs -cavation The cookie was really soft, thick, and doughy, which we enjoyed! The mousse has tiny chunks of cookie but leans heavily on the milk flavor. The edible sugar bones dissolved when we were enjoying them, and were essentially sugar. A sneak peek at the mousse They give you a compostable spoon to break into your white chocolate egg to find a surprise white chocolate dinosaur and sprinkles inside the egg! While all of the flavors were fairly simple, we did love the novelty of breaking into the egg. The dino! This treat overall was really sugary, but we could see kiddos loving this! It’s cute, sugary, and an acceptable way to play with your food. It’s not going to reinvent the wheel, but it was a fun afternoon dessert. Another look at the egg! This is a treat that won’t be around forever because DinoLand is closing permanently to make way for Pueblo Esperanza! This new land will feature stories from Indiana Jones and Encanto. It’s expected to open in 2027. DinoLand doesn’t have a formal closing date just yet, but part of the land has already closed to make way for the new land. Construction is already underway For now, we’ll continue digging up these cute treats while we can! As always, be sure to keep following DFB for more Disney reviews and updates. When you think of Disney World, we bet the first thing that comes to mind is Magic Kingdom. Magic Kingdom Magic Kingdom WAS the first park in Disney World, after all, and it remains the most iconic. You can’t think of Disney World without Cinderella Castle, after all. Magic Kingdom is also home to a lot of classic attractions, so if you’re visiting Disney World for the first time, Magic Kingdom is probably the park you have the highest expectations for. BEFORE you go to Magic Kingdom, though, we want to make sure you keep those expectations in check. So let’s just tell you what we wish we had known before we visited Magic Kingdom for the first time. You can’t park at Magic Kingdom If you’re driving to Disney World, you might be surprised when you drive through the big Magic Kingdom gate and then get routed to a parking lot that is NOT at Magic Kingdom. This is the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC), and it’s there because Walt didn’t want the real world (aka, a parking lot) to encroach upon the world of fantasy you step into when you go to Magic Kingdom. To get to Magic Kingdom, you have to park at the Transportation and Ticket Center Walt wanted folks to approach Magic Kingdom by ferry boat or Monorail, so that when you get that glimpse of the land, it’s an untarnished one. So the TTC was built to be the place where mundane real world things existed, like parking lots. If you want to arrive directly at Magic Kingdom, you’ll have to do so via Disney transportation like the Monorail, the ferryboat, or buses. If Your Day Is Going To Be Ruined at Disney World, It’s Gonna Happen at the Transportation and Ticket Center Know the difference between the Monorail routes Once you’re at the Transportation and Ticket Center, you’ll need to know the difference between the Resort and Express Monorail trains. One of those Monorails, the Express, goes directly to Magic Kingdom, while the Resort Monorail makes stops at all the resorts AND Magic Kingdom. Make sure you know which Monorail train to get on In other words, if you want to get to Magic Kingdom quickly, you’ll want to hop on the Express Monorail. What Happens When the Monorail Goes Down in Disney World? How bad the fireworks crowds are The fireworks are the HIGHLIGHT and epic finale of any Magic Kingdom day, but y’all, they are CROWDED. First, you’re going to find almost EVERYONE in the park standing and around Main Street, U.S.A. to see the fireworks. Good luck finding a viewing spot if you don’t do so early (and you might even want to consider a fireworks dessert party just to get a guaranteed good view). Firework Crowds Another thing you won’t be prepared for is trying to leave the parks after the fireworks. EVERYONE is headed the same way (and a lot of them are also heading towards the Monorail), so leaving the parks right after the fireworks becomes a real test of patience. Our best tip? Either leave a little before the fireworks end or you can hang around in the shops or grab a snack at Main Street Confectionery while the big herd of people moves down Main Street towards the exit. The Weird Reason Why Disney World Fireworks Could Be Canceled Holidays are also crowded Sure, it’s magical being in Disney World during holidays like the 4th of July (when there are special fireworks), Thanksgiving, and Christmas. But the problem with that line of thinking is that EVERYONE else is thinking the same thing, meaning holiday crowds are generally NO JOKE in Magic Kingdom. Christmas Crowds in Magic Kingdom Honestly, if you can rearrange your travel plans, avoid Disney World on holidays. If you MUST visit on a holiday, visit a different park while everyone is in Magic Kingdom. This Is the Best Place to Hide in Magic Kingdom You can’t do everything in one day Of all the parks in Disney World, Magic Kingdom has the most attractions. Not only that, but you’ve also got tons of entertainment happening at any given time in the park PLUS characters to meet. If you want to do EVERYTHING in Magic Kingdom, you’re going to need way more than just one day. Wendell in Frontierland However, most of us only ever have one day in Magic Kingdom, so the important thing to do is prioritize those rides you must do and those things you must see first. 5 Magic Kingdom Secrets Disney Doesn’t Want You to Know You can’t just grab a table at a restaurant We’ve seen it time and again: someone walks into Magic Kingdom and tries to grab a table at a restaurant at lunch and are told that no tables are available. That’s because most of Magic Kingdom’s table service restaurants have reservations that fill up FAST, as in 60 days ahead of time. If you haven’t planned your table service meals in Magic Kingdom, you might just be out of luck and stuck eating from carts and quick service spots. Want to dine at Cinderella’s Royal Table? Make a reservation as early as you can. HOWEVER, you could get lucky if there’s availability with the Mobile Walk-Up Waitlist, but that’s no guarantee. If you really want to eat somewhere, book that dining reservation as soon as you can (that’s 60 days in advance from the first day of your trip). Magic Kingdom Has 43 Restaurants, But You Only Need To Know About 4 How much you’ll cry during fireworks Okay, this is for those of us who get emotional at Disney, although we’ve seen a lot of folks lose it and cry in Magic Kingdom. So we’ll just warn you now, the fireworks at Magic Kingdom are SPECIAL and they are meant to reach into your heart and make you feel so much joy, you just can’t take it, and it leaves you sobbing like a baby. Happily Ever After fireworks in Magic Kingdom We’re just preparing you for the waterworks. Bring tissue, and don’t be afraid to cry it out…because everyone else is crying, too. A Former Cast Member Reveals the SECRET Way to Get the BEST Magic Kingdom Fireworks View Overall, we recommend doing your research before you visit Magic Kingdom, so you can make your visit as magical as possible. We’ll keep sharing our best tips and tricks, but you can also get our guides to help you plan the best Disney World vacation EVER. Stay tuned to DFB for more. According to Deadline, the Walt Disney Company began major layoffs on June 2nd, 2025. The layoffs will impact several hundred employees globally. Many of the employees impacted are in divisions of Disney Entertainment, including marketing, television publicity, casting, development, and corporate financial operations. ©Disney No teams are being eliminated, but several hundred employees are being laid off from The Walt Disney Company. This is the fourth round of layoffs in the past 10 months that have impacted Disney’s television operations. It is also the biggest round of layoffs in those 10 months. The layoffs are part of Disney’s ongoing cost-cutting process. Even though Disney reported better-than-expected earnings for the second quarter, several hundred employees will be laid off in this round. The layoffs will be from multiple divisions within Disney Entertainment. It was reported that most Disney Entertainment Television staffers who are being laid off are based in Los Angeles. Walt Disney Company Headquarters in Burbank These layoffs follow several rounds of layoffs already. Back in March 2025, Disney laid off about 200 employees at Disney’s ABC News Group and Disney’s Entertainment Networks Unit. As well, in September 2024, Disney laid off 200 employees who were part of Disney’s corporate operations. In 2023, Disney had numerous rounds of layoffs and eliminated about 7,000 jobs. Disneyland Resort is celebrating its 70th anniversary! 70th Anniversary Castle Tribute in Disneyland The Disneyland Resort 70th Celebration runs from May 16th, 2025, through summer 2026. The celebration sees the return of some beloved shows and other limited-time entertainment, colorful decor, special food and beverages, exclusive merchandise, and more! We’ve been checking out the new eats, and we’re coming at ya with another review! We stopped by the Outdoor Vending location behind Grizzly River Run at Disney California Adventure to grab the NEW 70th Anniversary Mango Chile Cotton Candy! You can grab a bag of this new treat for $6.99, and it’s a pretty decent helping. It’s available at the outdoor vending carts throughout the park. Cotton Candy Mango Chile We originally had our worries about the flavors of this cotton candy — we were expecting something spicy, tart, and not sweet. We are glad to have been proven wrong! This cotton candy is honestly some of the best we’ve ever had. It has a bit of a kick from the chile, (you can kind of see the speckles of it in the cotton candy), but it’s not spicy at all. It has a yummy tang from the tropical mango flavors. We loved the tartness mixed with the sweetness of the cotton candy. This was truly a hidden gem of a treat! This was pretty tasty! We’ll be on the lookout for more updates from Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary Celebration and more. In the meantime, make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news! When it comes to dining at Disney World, you’ve got a TON of options. Want something quick and easy? You’ve got it. Something middle of the road and comforting? They’ve got that too, and if you’re looking for something upscale and luxurious, you’ve come to the right place. Disney Springs We recently stopped by Terralina Crafted Italian in Disney Springs to see what was cookin’, and now we’re bringing you our FULL review. Is it worth a stop on your next trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth? Find out here! Atmosphere The atmosphere of this dining spot is supposed to be “reminiscent of an Italian home” inspired by Italy’s Lake District. It features an open kitchen as well as an outdoor veranda bar, both which we love! Terralina Crafted Italian Inside isn’t too fancy that you’ll feel out of place in your theme park clothes, but it definitely feels like a slight step up from most quick service locations. Dining rooms But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?! Menu The menu here was created by Chef Tony Mantuano and Executive Chef Claudio Daggio and features some of your favorite Italian eats! Main menu front There’s also an entire drink menu to look through as well, so if you’re in the mood for something a little special! Drink menu And now, onto the main event — the food! Eats First up, we grabbed the Breakfast Pizza for $17! This is made with Fennel Sausage, Roasted Red Peppers, Mozzarella and a sunny side up Egg. Breakfast Pizza Overall, this was very light, which we appreciated! The crust was crispy and soft, and it was clear the whole dish was housemade in the best way possible. The egg was very runny, which we enjoyed, but if you’re sensitive to textures, you’ll want to keep an eye out for that. The roasted peppers and sausage were great additions for both flavor and texture, and it was all VERY well balanced! We’re big fans! Next was the Spaghetti Carbonara for $24, which is made with Parmesan Egg Yolk Cream Sauce, Peas, and Bacon. We’ve never thought about carbonara being a brunch dish before, but we really enjoyed this! It was sweet and savory at the same time, and the noodles were perfectly al dente. The peas were spread out well throughout and added a great texture. Spaghetti Carbonara Not to mention that this bacon was cooked to perfection as well! It was crispy, not fatty in the slightest, and we adored every bite of it. Delicious! Our final food item was the Seasonal Panna Cotta for $13, which is currently Wild Berry Compote. This was incredibly refreshing and, in our eyes, was perfect for brunch with how light it is. It’s not overly sugary and you won’t have to worry about getting that gritty sugar feeling on your teeth after eating. Seasonal Panna Cotta (Wild Berry Compote) Our only complaint? We wish there was more of it! Drinks To drink, we picked up the Mimosa Flight for $22. This comes with three different flavors — Cranberry Orange, Strawberry Hibiscus, and Grapefruit Rosemary. The Orange Cranberry was heavy on the orange, so much so that we couldn’t taste much of the cranberry — almost like an orange juice with a kick to it — but even with that being said, it was our favorite of the three. Orange Cranberry The Strawberry Hibiscus was very strong on the hibiscus, which meant it was more tart than sweet. If you’re not opposed to that flavor, you may enjoy it, but we would have liked some more strawberry flavor! Strawberry Hibiscus Finally, the Grapefruit Rosemary started off sour, but the more we drank it, the more the sweet flavors mixed in and mellowed it out. This was probably the most well-balanced of the three. Grapefruit Rosemary But is it worth a stop? Nosh or Not This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if… You’re looking for a good brunch spot in Disney Springs You’re looking for a spot that’s easier than others to get reservations for You love Italian food You should skip this Disney World spot if… You want the absolute best brunch on Disney Springs property You’re not in Disney Springs/not planning to head that way You’re not a brunch person and you prefer for solid breakfast options Overall If you’re in Disney Springs and looking for a great brunch, we think this is a fantastic spot to consider! Reservations aren’t too difficult to get in a short amount of time, but we still recommend planning ahead to be on the safe side. Terralina Crafted Italian In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disney World and beyond. By day, the views from GEO-82, which opens Wednesday, are alive with the color and movement of Epcot’s World Celebration Gardens and World Showcase Lagoon. By night, those lucky enough to score seats for the GEO-82 Fireworks Experience, certain to be one of the park’s hottest tickets for years to come, will enjoy bites savory and sweet along with champagne sips as they take in the nearly 20 minutes color and movement that is Luminous, the explosive nightly fireworks spectacular. The fireworks-explosive fixtures at GEO-82 only add to the snaps of the real ones outside as guests take in views of the Luminous spectacular from the sophisticated, climate-controlled luxury of this new adult-exclusive lounge. (Amy Drew Thompson/Orlando Sentinel)And there’s something else rather exclusive about GEO-82, whether you make it here, day or night, a rare find in any theme park: It is entirely adult-exclusive (a Walt Disney World first!) and a sophisticated, beverage-first space where food pairings were made to compliment curated wines and crafted cocktails with loads of culinary inspiration says Walt Disney World beverage director Stephanie Dold. “I think this is going to be the first time you really see the partnership really shine through between the culinary and beverage programs,” Dold said during a recent media preview. “There are a lot of different curations from a kitchen perspective in the ways of syrups and fat washing in the cocktails.” The lush and colorful activity of Epcot serves as the backdrop for guests at GEO-82, a brand-new lounge inside Spaceship Earth's iconic sphere. And for fans of bubbly mocktails, so does A Walk Through The Garden ($17) featuring Seedlip Garden 108 Non-Alcoholic Spirit, basil, fennel, lemon, orange bitters, celery bitters and bubbles. (Courtesy Christina Thomas/@GoEpicurista)Before they even order, however, they might have to get used to the gravity shift. The lounge is an outstanding achievement in design, its walls and ceilings, barware and upholsters, even ice, all taking queues both bold and subtle from the space in which it resides: Spaceship Earth’s iconic geodesic sphere. A semi-clandestine entry feels downright Star Trekkian, bringing you into a venue where — save the view of those milling about outside — the theme park vibe disappears. With a little Imagineering magic on those windows, one could easily watch deep space zipping past. The light fixtures, even, are bursts, reminiscent of those guests will see outside during the Luminous shows each night. Truffled ahi tuna ($23) features Japanese whiskey barrel-aged soy-truffle ponzu, citrus, scallion, tobiko and black sesame seeds. (Courtesy Christina Thomas/@GoEpicurista)The Electron ($23) might be the most themed-to-space creation, featuring Siete Misterios Doba-Yej Mezcal, carrot, cinnamon, lime, Hella Cocktail Co. Orange Bitters and the crackly zip of a pink peppercorn rim. But Dold puts her money on the Brown Butter Old-Fashioned ($28) winding up on the hot list once more folks get to sample the menu. “It’s really the entry point for our guests to experience trending techniques like fat-washing,” she says. “Maybe they’ve never had a cocktail like that before. We wanted to make sure we had something on the menu for first-timers who want to experience the whiskey (Woodford Reserve Double Oaked Bourbon) and all it has to offer, but with more of a velvety texture.” Chef Brian Piasecki's favorite cocktail food pairing sees the rich jumbo lump crab gâteau served alongside the savory caramelized leek martini. (Courtesy Christina Thomas/@GoEpicurista)Chef Brian Piasecki, director of culinary and concept development, onboard since the GEO-82 concept first materialized about two-and-a-half years ago, has enjoyed the entire journey, approaching the assignment in a different way than other projects. “It’s an adult space … and we knew it was going to be beverage-heavy with a very culinary approach. We wanted the food to pair with the menu holistically, to feature strong umami flavors, classic bar bites. We wanted rich. We wanted creamy.” A Disney dynamic duo: Brian Piasecki, director of culinary and concept development, and Stephanie Dold, beverage director, celebrate the opening of GEO-82. (Amy Drew Thompson/Orlando Sentinel)Items like the cannellini hummus, served with delicate pappadam ($14) and jumbo lump crab gâteau ($25) both fit the bill, one lighter and allergen friendly, the other decadent, with smoked Tillamook cheddar and topped with caviar. “People love hummus and so we looked at it and thought, ‘How can we elevate something this simple?'” Crafty, high-end ingredients, he says, were the answer, like preserved lemon and pumpkin seed pistou. Crackly pappadam, too, he notes, is a unique choice. Paired with the savory caramelized leek martini (Fords Gin, Dolin Dry Vermouth de Chambéry, caramelized leek, pickled onion; $26), he opines, the gâteau is a marvelous bite. A tasting tower of savory light bites is served before the Luminous The Symphony of Us show begins. It's part of the Fireworks Experience available during the evening at GEO-82 and includes savory macarons with house-made pimento cheese, deviled eggs and a selection of charcuterie. (Amy Drew Thompson/Orlando Sentinel)“The martini is the opposite of sweet,” says Piasecki. “It’s strong and in your face, very savory, with a really sharp pickled onion flavor. With the crab, which is super buttery and rich with that nice, salty caviar on top. It’s just perfect for me.” Though cocktails and mocktails are the stars of the show — the A Walk Through The Garden ($17) is a nice, lemony refresher featuring Seedlip Garden 108 Non-Alcoholic Spirit — there are plenty of options in the way of beer and a thoughtfully curated wine selection. “We have some unique small growers,” says Dold. “Things you’ll have to come to GEO-82 to experience. A lot of it was inspired by our travels, like a lovely wine from Portugal (Muxagat Douro Branco, Douro Valley, Portugal; $70, bottle, $17, glass) and a beautiful Champagne: A. Bergère ‘Origine’ ($120, bottle; $26, class). Among the goodies included in the GEO-82 Fireworks Experience is a beautiful plate of sweet bites and a champagne toast. (Courtesy Christina Thomas/@GoEpicurista)“But, I really think people are going to come here to experience the exclusive Disney select bourbon flight ($45), which are hand-selected and exclusive to GEO-82.” The curation includes Uncle Nearest Single Barrel, Woodford Reserve Single Barrel, Blanton’s Gold Single Barrel and Stagg Private Barrel, an appealing mix for bourbon aficionados and those more prone to sip straight than sample cocktails. It’s subjective, of course, but regardless, the views are undeniably intoxicating. Find me on Facebook, TikTok, Twitter or Instagram @amydroo or on the OSFoodie Instagram account @orlando.foodie. Email: amthompson@orlandosentinel.com, For more foodie fun, join the Let’s Eat, Orlando Facebook group. If you go Fireworks experience is $179 per person plus tax/gratuity. While Disney World’s refillable mugs have some hard and fast rules that have to be followed – – free refills are only good for a certain amount of time, there are no refills in the parks, etc. – – there are some other unofficial and unspoken rules that it would totally behoove you to break next time you visit the “Most Magical Place on Earth.” Refillable Mug Before we get to these rules, though, how about a quick refresher on how refillable mugs work? Disney’s Refillable mugs are 16 oz. insulated coffee mugs that are sold for about $22 at Disney hotels in the primary Counter Service location. Those on the Disney Dining Plan also receive a mug as part of their package. Guests are entitled to unlimited free refills on fountain drinks, coffee, and tea from participating beverage locations at Disney resort hotels (both the one they’re staying at as well as others on property) for their length of stay up to 14 days. Each mug features an RFID barcode, which enables the mug to deactivate when the designated time is complete. So, with the actual official rules established, let’s take a look at some of the “unwritten” ones that are more than breakable: “You Have to Buy a New Mug Every Visit” It can be tempting to think that ANY time you stay on Disney property, you must buy a new mug even if you already own the available design! However, if you’re visiting Disney for a short trip, OR you’re a water drinker who carries a Stanley or other reusable water bottle with you, it may not be necessary or even all that useful. Resort Refillable Mug You Must Fill Your Mug with a Soft Drink Every Time to Make the Mug “Worth it” This is the wrong way to look at things. Picking up the mug is a convenient way to get unlimited drinks at your hotel while getting a new Disney souvenir in the process. However, being obsessed with making sure you get “value” down to the penny kind of misses the point. Self-service Beverage Station “Don’t Bring Your Mug to the Parks” While it is true that as of now there are no free refills inside Disney’s theme parks, there can be use to bringing your refillable mugs to the parks. Specifically, they can be used for water from the parks water fountains and refilling stations. Water fountain and refill station Next time you pick up a refillable mug at Disney World, make sure to “break” these “unwritten” rules. Stay tuned to DFB for more Disney tips! While there are literally hundreds of possible Disney souvenirs you can pick up at the Magic Kingdom, our favorite MAY be a way to immortalize your favorite four-legged friend for about $20! Magic Kingdom Arribas refers to the silhouette as the 18th Century Selfie, writing that they are, “meticulously hand-cut by a skilled Walt Disney World artist. This unique keepsake, inspired by an 18th-century European art form, features your profile against your choice of a white or colored background, allowing you to own a piece of personalized artistry that blends tradition with the magic of Disney.” According to PlanDisney, pet silhouettes can be made at two Magic Kingdom locations: in Liberty Square by Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe, and on Main Street near Uptown Jewelers. According to the site, both dogs and cats can be done, “if you bring clear photos showing a side profile, and you will hold up your phone so the artist can create the portrait,” and two pets can even be combined in one photo. On top of that, for roughly $13 more, you can even add a dance frame to your selection. Universal Studios Florida has been changing big time! Universal Studios Florida Epic Universe has finally opened, Halloween Horror Nights is getting closer and closer, and one staple attraction is set to close. Change is always hard, but now we finally know when to brace for impact. Universal has finally confirmed the closing date for Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, and we’ve got the details here. If you’re a huge coaster fan, you’ve probably ridden Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit at Universal Studios Florida. This coaster allows you to choose your own music to rock out to as it takes you over, under, and upside down on this crazy ride. Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit This attraction opened originally in 2009 and has seen some changes over the years. We’ve known for a while that this classic attraction wasn’t long for this world, but now Universal has confirmed that the attraction will close permanently on August 18th, 2025. ©Universal Studios Florida This is a bit of a surprise as Universal had previously confirmed the ride would close in early September 2025. We do know that the ride isn’t just closing, but it’s actually being demolished to make way for the new experience replacing it. Universal has yet to reveal what will be taking its place and has only shared that more details will be available later. Rip Ride Rockit We are eager to see what will replace this larger-than-life attraction, especially because it is really the only thrill ride in Universal Studios aside from Escape from Gringotts. (Which many would argue isn’t a major thrill.) You can be sure that we will update you as soon as we know more! As always, be sure to keep following DFB for more Universal news and updates. Dear Star Wars fans, we hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this is pretty devastating. Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios One of our favorite Star Wars actors has no plans to return to the franchise. Mark Hamill, who played Luke Skywalker, does not plan on returning to the franchise. ©IMDb In an interview with ComicBook, Hamill said, “I am so grateful to George [Lucas] for letting me be part of that back in the day, the humble days when George called Star Wars the most expensive low-budget movie ever made. We never expected it to become a permanent franchise and a part of pop culture like that. But my deal is, I had my time. I’m appreciative of that, but I think they should focus on the future and all the new characters.” Hamill kicked off the original series and starred in Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope, which became one of the most iconic films to be released. There are now 12 films and plenty of TV shows all set within the Star Wars galaxy. ©Star Wars We remember sitting in the theater in 2019 and seeing Luke Skywalker on the big screen in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Seeing Mark Hamill return for new fans was incredible and while we’re bummed he won’t be making any more appearances, he left a lasting legacy within the franchise. Mark Hamill signature on Hollywood Yard of Fame in Disney’s Hollywood Studios The next Star Wars movie to hit the screens will be The Mandalorian & Grogu on May 22nd, 2026. Grogu (well, he’ll always be Baby Yoda to us) will be featured alongside Pedro Pascal. ©Star Wars We’re always sharing what new Star Wars news you need, so make sure you’re following DFB for more! A new partnership could change the way you fly. Let’s go somewhere! JetBlue and United Airlines have partnered to offer a collaboration that allows travelers to earn bonus miles and loyalty benefits across both airlines. Priority boarding, complimentary access to preferred seats, and same-day flight changes are just part of the combined benefits. Get ready for Blue Sky: a new and unique collaboration between JetBlue and United Airlines that gives customers more options to find flights that fit their plans. Not only that, but there will be more opportunities for rewards members to earn and use MileagePlus miles and TrueBlue points across both airlines. JetBlue and United Announce Blue Sky: Unique Consumer Collaboration That Links Loyalty Programs Blue Sky will start rolling out as early as this fall, subject to regulatory review and approval, and will include the following: United’s MileagePlus customers can earn and use miles on most JetBlue flights. JetBlue offers 90 daily flights between the Northeast and the Caribbean this summer – with regular nonstop direct flights to popular islands like Aruba, Barbados, and Jamaica. JetBlue’s TrueBlue members can earn and use points for flights on United’s extensive domestic and international network, the largest across the Atlantic and Pacific that includes popular destinations like Cape Town and Tahiti. Each airline will offer flights on one another’s website and app to make booking across the two airlines’ complementary networks simple and easy. Blue Sky includes an interline agreement, not a codeshare, meaning each airline will continue to publish and market flights independently under its own brand and flight numbers. The benefits of each airline’s loyalty program – priority boarding, complimentary access to preferred and extra legroom seats and same-day standby/switch – will be available when customers travel on the other airline’s aircraft. As part of the airlines’ agreement, JetBlue will provide United access to slots at JFK International Airport for up to seven daily round-trip flights out of JFK Terminal 6 to begin as early as 2027. And, as part of a net-neutral exchange, JetBlue and United will exchange eight flight timings at Newark. United will move its website and mobile app’s ability to sell hotels, rental cars, cruises and travel insurance, on both a stand-alone and package basis, to new technology and services provided by JetBlue’s Paisly platform. ©JetBlue Joanna Geraghty, CEO of JetBlie, said, “This collaboration with United is a bold step forward for the industry — one that brings together two customer-focused airlines to deliver more choices for travelers and value across our networks.” “Blue Sky reflects our airlines’ shared focus on innovation and the customer experience,” said United CEO Scott Kirby. This infographic summarizes some of the benefits customers will enjoy over time*. JetBlue and United will share more details about the timing of these features later this year. As part of BlueSky, members of each airline’s loyalty program will find similar benefits over time — as well as reciprocal revenue-based miles and points accrual and reciprocal miles and points redemption — when they use and earn miles or points on the partner airlines. Timing for these reciprocal benefits will be announced later this year. ©Getty Images Whether flying on United or JetBlue in the future, customers will receive benefits in line with what they receive now, including: Priority treatment for check-in, boarding, security, and baggage Access to preferred and extra legroom seats Free first checked bag Same-day changes and switches ©JetBlue Both loyalty programs are free to join, and miles/points never expire. The two airlines also announced that United will move its website and mobile app’s ability to sell hotels, rental cars, cruises, and travel insurance to JetBlue’s Paisly platform. Hopefully, this partnership will make flying to Disney World even easier! ©United Looking for help planning your next Disney vacation?
