  2. Taking a voyage on the Disney Cruise Line is one of the most fun experiences this Disney adult has ever had, but there are some things I wish I’d known before disembarking! ©Disney Whether it’s tops for dining, shopping, or even planning for a future cruise, knowing these tips will definitely be beneficial before you finish your next Disney Cruise. When to Book Dining Each night of your Disney Cruise, you’ll be assigned one of the three rotational dining options that are included in your cruise package. If you’d like to one of the ship’s other restaurants like Palo, you’ll need to make a reservation. However, make sure you make said reservation for a “repeat” rotational dining night (you’ll have at least one if you’re on a Disney Cruise of at least 4 nights) so that way you won’t miss any of the rotational dining experiences. Palo Steakhouse on Disney Treasure Bad News for Late Souvenir Shoppers A heads up if you’re a late shopper who was planning to pick up some gifts – – or souvenirs for yourself – – on the final morning of you’re trip, you are out of luck. The ship’s stores will be CLOSED on the final morning. This is due to several factors, including maritime rules for ships in port, as well as the need to prep the ship for the next voyage. So, if you’ve put your shopping off until close to the end of the trip, make sure to do it the night before! Disney Wish merchandise Early Savings! If you’re loving your Disney Cruise so much that you can’t wait to boom another, you can SAVE by booking your next Disney trip while still on board! While on your Disney Cruise, you can “unlock special savings during your voyage by booking an open-ended Placeholder Reservation for a future cruise sailing within the next 24 months.” The special offer, which can be found within the DCL-exclusive Navigator app offers a 10% discount off prevailing rates as quoted on DisneyCruise.com, and reduced deposit on 7-night or longer sailings.” Inspired by the ship’s “heroes and villains” theme, the playful artwork of the Super Character Collection imagines Minnie Mouse, Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy and Pluto as a daring crew of “hydro heroes,” each with their own unique super powers. Featuring vibrant, colorful graphic designs reminiscent of comic book drawings, the collection will include everything from apparel and accessories to plush, pins and drinkware. (Kenslie McGuire, photographer) If you’re taking a Disney Cruise anytime soon, be sure to keep these things in mind during your voyage. A new ticket sale dropped for flights to Orlando, and if you’re thinking about coming to Disney World before the end of the year, you might want to take advantage of this deal. Southwest is offering a Wanna Get Away Sale for one-way flights as low as $39! The sale is available for dates between June 3rd and November 19th, and you must book before May 22nd. ©Southwest Airlines What would we do if we were adding an extra Disney trip in before the end of November? We would definitely book tickets for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, which will run on select dates from August 15th to October 31st. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party There’s no way we would miss a chance to try all the food booths at EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival, running from August 28th to November 22nd. The EPCOT Food and Wine Festival We would plan a visit to all the parks to jump in Cool Kid Summer, which runs from May 27th to September 1st. Everyone in the family will love the themed dance parties, new character opportunities, and crafts. Pluto is going to be at Cool Kid Summer! If we went to Hollywood Studios, we would watch two new shows, Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After and “The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure.” ©Disney And overall, we would enjoy the Florida sunshine and knowing that we saved a huge amount of money and got to go to Disney World. 10. Walt Disney World has set the dates for the 2025 edition of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, the after-hours/extra-ticket special event at Magic Kingdom theme park. There will be 38 evenings of Not-So-Scary running between Aug. 15 and Halloween night, the resort has revealed. Tickets will be available to the public starting May 22, although guests staying at select Disney World resorts can may their purchases on May 15. Ticket prices vary with the day, and, so far, Disney has only revealed the range of $119 to $229. Generally, early tickets and weekday dates have been the least expensive. New elements of the event for 2025 include the transformation of Storybook Circus into a space for families with younger children, a dance party themed to “Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires” (which debuts July 10 on Disney Channel) and the chance to meet Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse together — decked out in their Halloween costumes — at Town Square Theater. Among the returning features: “Mickey’s Boo-to-You Halloween Parade” (stepping off at 8:15 p.m. again); the “Hocus Pocus Villain Spectacular” stage show near Cinderella Castle; “Disney’s Not So Spooky Spectacular;” and parkwide trick-or-treating. Disney also has hinted at the presence of “new and returning Disney villains,” holiday overlays for some attractions, new specialty foods, party-specific merchandise and the Cadaver Dans quartet. Halloween Horror Nights starts at Universal Studios on Aug. 29. SeaWorld Orlando’s Halloween Spooktacular launches Aug. 30 and its Howl-O-Scream event follows on Sept. 5. 12. One of the BEST places to dine is actually outside of the Disney World parks! Disney Springs Disney Springs is home to dozens of dining locations, from snack spots to fast food to table service meals. These locations have some pretty unique offerings, and recently, some fun menu items arrived at Paddlefish! So we’re taking you with us to try the new eats. Atmosphere Paddlefish is located inside a GIANT paddle boat in Disney Springs — seriously, you can’t miss it! Paddlefish! The boat has three levels with tons of seating, but not all rooms and areas are open throughout the day. A look inside Here’s a look at the first floor! Another look! The second floor is here. The second floor! And finally, the third floor! The third floor! You can even check out the outdoor, rooftop bar if you’re just looking for something quick! The rooftop! But enough about the scenery, what’s on the menu? Menu Paddlefish is primarily a seafood restaurant. It offers lunch and dinner menus with a wide variety of bites. An overall look at the menu! For both lunch and dinner, you can find starters, chilled and raw seafood, soups and salads, plus pasta and main entrees. Don’t forget about the steamer options as well! A closer look at lunch! We’re here specifically to try some new items! Eats First up, we grabbed the Crab Boursin Dip for $12. This one was interesting! This item has Blue crab, creamy Boursin cheese, green onions, and sesame crackers on the side. Crab Boursin Dip There was quite a bit of brininess from the crab, and the cheese is very strong. The onion brings out the pungent flavors of both the cheese and crab! The chips offered a strong flavor of their own and struggled to hold the creamy, heavy dip. While we didn’t hate it, we don’t necessarily think we would get this again. A dip! We also got the Burrata Panzanella! This was $20 and came with cherry tomatoes, kalamata olives, cucumbers, toasted bread, and basil. The Burrata First things first, our reporter’s exact words were “this is insane!” The burrata is creamy, light, smooth, and fresh all at once. The tomatoes add some amazing texture and brightness to the dish. The cucumber, while a bit watery, adds a crunch and freshness as well. Have a bite! The pesto on the bottom added a wonderful earthy flavor, with the toasted bread adding an amazing crunch with butter and garlic elements. Overall, it was a complex and tasty item that really surprised us. Finally, we grabbed the Lobster Corn Dogs for $24. The lobster corn dogs! These used to be on the menu here a few years back, and they’ve returned recently! They’re market price, so that’s subject to change. These are cornmeal breaded lobster skewers with a sweet chili aioli and a side of lemon. These reminded us of sweet corn dogs in a way. The lobster was tender with a bit of chew to it. A closer look at the lobster corn dog The flavors were nice and mild, with the breading adding a bit of sweetness. The aioli added a bit of spice, which we really enjoyed. While we really enjoyed them, it is helpful to remind anyone reading that these really are just fancy corn dogs. They were delicious and could be fun to share with a group. A look at the lobster meat inside Overall, these were more of a novelty than anything! Nosh or Not This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if… You enjoy seafood You are looking for a fancier meal Or if you want to grab some tasty small plates You should skip this Disney World spot if… You are seafood averse You want to save money Or want true Disney themeing Overall These items were really interesting and different from other items we’ve had in Disney World! We’d happily grab these items again as sharables or even a smaller meal for one. All we know for sure if we’re suddenly craving lobster. The full spread! In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disney World and beyond. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more! 14. Every so often, Disney drops a piece of merchandise that’s so wonderfully weird, it stops us in our tracks. SO many mugs This time? Let’s just say it’s cute, collectible—and a little trashy (literally). Let’s check it out! Available soon at Walt Disney World, the new Bulk Candy Containers are delightfully miniature replicas of the iconic Main Street, U.S.A. trash bins you’ll find at Magic Kingdom! With swinging side lids and a flip-top opening, they’ve got all the charm of their full-sized cousins, just shrunk down and filled with sugar (how amazing is that?!). ©Disney But this isn’t just your average sweet souvenir—you get to make your own candy mix to fill them with! To purchase, you can head to the following locations: Parks: Magic Kingdom Park: Main Street Confectionery Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park: Zuri’s Sweets Shop Resorts: Disney’s BoardWalk Inn: Screen Door General Store The Campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort: Meadow Trading Post Disney Springs: Goofy’s Candy Company Disney’s Candy Cauldron Main Street Confectionery To purchase a container, first grab a bag to fill with your choice of sweets, and be sure to hit the ½ lb. minimum to be eligible to purchase a candy container. Once you’ve checked out (and not before!), you can pour your treat haul into your new mini bin and head off with the most adorable trash-inspired souvenir Disney’s ever created (ever thought we’d say that sentence). There’s a limit of two containers per guest, and they’re available while supplies last, so don’t wait too long if you’re eyeing one (or two) for your collection. Lots of yummy candy to choose from! Not only is this a creative twist on your average candy container, it’s also a great collectible for Disney park fans. These bins are a nostalgic nod to Main Street’s charm, and they make for a surprisingly fun display piece long after the candy’s gone. ©Disney Between the charming Main Street U.S.A. design and the fun candy customization, these little bins are one of the most delightfully odd Disney souvenirs we’ve seen in a while. 15. Epic Universe is an all-new park with multiple new dining options, and since food is our specialty, we’re making it our mission to try EVERY single restaurant in this new park so you know where you should visit during your vacation. Epic Universe While there are great spots in the different portals around the park, don’t count out Celestial Park, the main hub “land” because there are some fantastic options here as well! Frosty Moon is an ice cream spot located here, but is it really worth the stop, or should you find your sweet treat elsewhere? We found out! Atmosphere This is a walk-up stand with very little seating around, so you’ll either want to take your ice cream a little bit away and sit down on one of the benches in Celestial Park (we recommend one with great views of Helios Grand and the fountains), and just keep in mind you won’t be able to bask in the AC while you eat. Frosty Moon The only shade is underneath the building’s awning, but there’s no place to sit down, so it’s hard to knock out two birds with one stone here. Menu The menus here are located inside the ordering window, and unfortunately, they’re so dark when the sun is high in the sky outside that it’s very difficult to read before you get up to the counter, which slows the process down as people decide. However, we’ve got the menu right here for you, so you can decide in advance! The flavors of soft serve available are: Vanilla Chocolate Cheesecake Strawberry Yum Cookie Butter Vegan Vanilla Frosty Moon As for toppings, you can get two of the following included in the price of your ice cream, which is $7.99 for a cup and $8.49 for a cone: Mini marshmallows Brownie pieces Streusel Cake pieces Oreo crumble Strawberry cheesecake pieces Celestial sprinkles Star sprinkles Birthday sprinkles Eats We decided to grab two different ice cream options on two different days. Our first time, we grabbed the strawberry yum soft serve with mini marshmallows and celestial sprinkles in a waffle cone. The mini marshmallows are the freeze dried kind that are in Lucky Charms cereal and this delighted us way more than we expected it to, especially because it added a different texture that worked well with the soft serve. Strawberry soft serve with marshmallows and sprinkles! The sprinkles were very pretty but didn’t add any additional flavor, but overall, we enjoyed it! The strawberry ice cream didn’t taste like natural strawberry, but it tasted like a GOOD artificial strawberry, and the consistency of the soft serve was great — almost like churned ice cream before it hardens in the freezer. We do think it’s a little pricey, but you get a good amount of ice cream and two toppings included for that price, so we were happy with our experience! We enjoyed it! Our second time around we grabbed a Cookie Butter Cone with Brownies and Gold Star Sprinkles. While we, again, thought the soft serve was decent quality, we weren’t a big fan of this flavor because it had a strange smokiness to it. So much so that it reminded us more of coffee ice cream rather than cookie butter, which wasn’t what we had been expecting. Cookie Butter soft serve with brownie pieces and sprinkles However, the brownie pieces were delicious — moist and soft — and the sprinkles added a great crunch to break up the soft serve texture. Were we wildly impressed? No, but we also weren’t insanely disappointed either. Nosh or Not This Epic Universe restaurant is a must-visit if… You’re really craving soft serve ice cream You need a sweet treat and you’re not super picky about it being something that will wow you You’re with pickier eaters/are a picky eater You should skip this Epic Universe spot if… You’re looking for a great treat that will blow your mind You’re not a fan of soft serve ice cream You don’t want to spend nearly $10 a person on a sweet treat that’s not shareable Overall Overall, we’d say this spot is fine, but nothing to write home about. It’s great if you’re craving some ice cream or you/your group wants something that’s a little more familiar rather than a more adventurous treat around the park, but if you’re hoping for $10 ice cream that will blow your mind, this isn’t it. In fact, we stand by the statement that Florean Fortescue’s in Universal Studios has better ice cream for sure. Would you try this spot? 16. Disney recently dropped a lot of news, including dates for the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival and tickets and dates for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, but we don’t think Disney meant to give us a huge clue as to when a new restaurant is opening in Disney World. Welcome to Adventureland We’ve been waiting patiently (okay, maybe not so patiently) for the new pirates-themed lounge, The Beak and Barrel, to have an opening date, and we think Disney finally told us. UPDATE: Shortly after publishing, Disney updated the website to remove the language about Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. We’ll keep an eye on a potential official opening date for the Beak and Barrel! Starting June 16th, 2025, all guests will be able to book a reservation at The Beak and Barrel during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. The Halloween parties run on select nights from August 15th to October 31st, which makes us think the lounge will be open by August 15th. ©Disney Disney hasn’t listed an exact date, but we do know it will be open during the Halloween parties! ©Disney Guests staying at Disney Resorts will be able to book The Beak and Barrel starting June 12th, while everyone else has to wait until June 16th. While booking a table reservation during your Halloween party can be time-consuming, this will be perfect for those dressing up as pirates and who want a more relaxing experience. ©Disney We’re expecting that Disney will officially announce when the tavern will open, but right now, we’re predicting it will be open by August 15th. 18. Traveling can be tricky, but we’re here to provide some tips and clarity! Let’s go somewhere! Whether you’re flying to Disney World or anywhere else in the world, it’s important to be familiar with Transportation Security Administration (TSA) rules well before even going to the airport. You need to know what you can and cannot pack so that you can avoid any trouble when checking a bag and going through security. With that in mind, we’re keeping you up-to-date with a recent change to the TSA checked bag policy. Per reports, the TSA recently issued a ban on packing portable chargers with lithium-ion batteries in checked luggage. Baggage claim! You can still pack lithium-ion battery-based products in your carry-on, so they aren’t totally banned. In fact, some popular airlines have already practiced this policy for some time, so it’s definitely not unprecedented. Orlando Airport The reasoning behind this ban is that lithium-ion batteries can overheat easily, short-circuit, spark, and cause fires. According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the rule applies to “Power Banks, cell phone battery charging cases, rechargeable and non-rechargeable lithium batteries, cell phone batteries, laptop batteries, power banks, external batteries, [and] portable rechargers.” As far as potential cabin fires, “Flight crews are trained to recognize and respond to lithium battery fires in the cabin. Passengers should notify flight crew immediately if their lithium battery or device is overheating, expanding, smoking or burning.” ©Southwest Airlines The FAA explained that, “Spare (uninstalled) lithium ion and lithium metal batteries, including power banks and cell phone battery charging cases, must be carried in carry-on baggage only. When a carry-on bag is checked at the gate or at planeside, all spare lithium batteries and power banks must be removed from the bag and kept with the passenger in the aircraft cabin. The battery terminals must be protected from short circuit.” Size restrictions are as follows: Lithium metal (non-rechargeable) batteries are limited to 2 grams of lithium per battery. Lithium-ion (rechargeable) batteries are limited to a rating of 100 watt hours (Wh) per battery. 19. Who’s ready for the most spectacular, incredible, absolutely amazing summer at Disney World? We sure are! Hi Pluto! To kick off the summer, Disney World is changing up the parks to bring in new experiences, and we’re ready to tie on our dancing shoes and get down with Stitch on the dance floor. Disney is hosting Cool Kid Summer from May 27th to September 1st and will give kids fun ways to experience the park. Starting off, you should be on the lookout for new kid zones! These will be pop-up entertainment with games, music, dancing, and lots of fun for the little ones of the group. One will be Big Top Bash at Storybook Circus, where DJ Ringmaster hosts a summertime dance party! Pluto will be there ready to play kid-friendly midway-style games with even more activities inside Big Top Souvenirs. Storybook Circus Over at Tomorrowland, Galactic Blast will be at the Rocket Tower Plaza Stage with appearances from our favorite alien, Stitch! Dance it out with Stitch and then head into Merchant of Venus for indoor crafts inspired by the Pixar film Elio, which you can catch in theaters on June 20th. Stitch at Tomorrowland You’ll also be able to meet your favorite characters even earlier in the parks. If you’re staying at a Disney Resort and plan on going to the parks during Early Theme Park Entry, characters will be out meeting and greeting. Nothing gets us out of bed faster than knowing our favorite characters will be waiting for us at Disney World. Donald and Daisy! In Hollywood Studios, Animation Courtyard is bringing in the fun with magicians and jump rope performers. “Get animated with games and crafts, or conquer an imaginary obstacle course in interactive fun with characters.” Mickey and fan-favorite Disney Junior friends will attend the indoor DJ dance party, too. Disney Jr EPCOT is turning CommuniCore Hall into GoofyCore! A DJ will be playing fun tunes, and little ones can join in on games with a Goofy Twist. You can play Loopy Limbo and Parachutes ‘n’ Pipsqueaks. Hiya Goofy! Even Animal Kingdom is getting in on the fun! Disney Characters will be helping with nature-based adventures where you can earn a limited-time Wilderness Explorers badge. A Dino Institute Intern will be throwing A Celebration Sing-Along at Discovery Island, as well. Earth Day Badge from 2022 Woah! That’s a lot coming to Disney World for the little ones this summer! Espresso martini from Enchanted Rose Lounge We’ve certainly got our favorites, too, from boozy Dole Whips to margaritas from La Cava del Tequila to Frozen Viking Coffee in Norway in EPCOT. We’ve also been known to drink around the World (hasn’t everyone?). But sometimes, you want to mix your liquor with something a little more caffeinated, and that’s where the delicious espresso martini comes in. So if you’re craving an espresso martini in Disney World, we’re going to tell you EVERYWHERE you can get one. Okay, so before we give you the FULL list of where you can grab an espresso martini in Disney World, we’ve got to shout out a few of the espresso martinis that go above and beyond. First, just look at this gorgeous espresso martini from Enchanted Rose at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. The ingredients are fairly basi (Stoli Vanilla Vodka, Espresso, and Bols Crème de Cacao Liqueur), but the presentation is INCREDIBLE. It’s got a Mickey on it. Espresso Martini at Enchanted Rose We also have to share the espresso martini at Wailulu Bar and Grill at Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. This martini is made with Mr. Black Cold Brew Liqueur and Joffrey’s Coffee Espresso, but it’s also got SelvaRey Chocolate Rum in it to give it a nice chocolatey flavor. YUM. Trattoria al Forno at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn also has a unique concoction called the Menta Espresso Martini made with Fernet Branca Menta Liqueur, Antica Sweet Vermouth, and Espresso. Vermouth isn’t something you see often in espresso martinis, but it sounds like a good combination! Trattoria al Forno Another unique espresso martini can be found at The BOATHOUSE at Disney Springs. It’s made with 360 Madagascar Vanilla Vodka, Kahlua, Liquor 43, Espresso — yep, Kahlua in an espresso martini — it’s GENIUS. Finally, Barcelona Lounge at Disney’s Coronado Springs has an espresso martini worth mentioning. This one has tequila in it, and it’s made with Flecha Azul Reposado Tequila, Tia Maria Liqueur, and Joffrey’s Cold Brew Coffee. Barcelona Lounge Okay, let’s get to that full list now. Here’s everywhere you can order an espresso martini in Disney World: Several Joffrey’s locations Tutto Italia in EPCOT– Vanilla vodka, coffee liqueur, Italian espresso Enchanted Rose at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa – Stoli Vanilla Vodka, Espresso, and Bols Crème de Cacao Liqueur Toledo at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort – Stoli Vanil Vodka, Bols Crème de Cacao White Liqueur, Simple Syrup, Espresso Dahlia Lounge at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort – Stoli Vanil Vodka, Bols Crème de Cacao White Liqueur, Simple Syrup, and Espresso Barcelona Lounge – Flecha Azul Reposado Tequila, Tia Maria Liqueur, Joffrey’s Cold Brew Coffee Cheers! 21. If you love grabbing a drink in Disney World at some of the most exclusive spots, then you’re likely a frequent visitor of Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto — we know we are! Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto Not to be confused with Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar, which is located over in Disneyland (and we love it just as much!), which can sometimes be difficult as one location may get a new item, but the other doesn’t. For those of you over in Disney World, you’ll be thrilled to know a new Tiki Mug has just arrived! This will cost you $32 and comes with a Zombie cocktail inside of it upon purchase, which is made with Gosling’s 151 Black Seal Rum, Appleton Estate Reserve Rum, Bacardi 8-year Rum, Tropical Juices, Falernum, and Cinnamon. Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto We have a feeling this will be quite popular, so if you’re in the area, you’ll likely want to get over there sooner rather than later to grab it before supplies run out. 23. Are you ready for a little peek behind the scenes? I go to Disney World for my job! I’m a Disney World reporter for Disney Food Blog, and that means I spend a lot of time in the theme parks — ESPECIALLY dining at restaurants. It’s my job to review dining locations all around the resort, and since starting here in 2020, I’ve been to quite a few locations. What people probably don’t know is that it can actually be challenging to review restaurants for a living…and character meals are the most difficult of all! You may say, “Lydia, what do you mean? There’s no way it’s actually HARD to do dining reviews. You get paid to eat delicious food and take pictures of it.” And while that description is technically true, there’s a lot more to the process than you think! Breakfast plate from Crystal Palace When it comes to dining at table service locations, the clock starts as soon as I check into the restaurant. I have to begin by taking photos of the atmosphere — the exterior, the waiting area, the menu, and the dining rooms. You’ve likely seen all of these kinds of pictures in restaurant reviews our team has written before, but you probably didn’t think about how much time it takes to snap those photos AND to get b-roll for our YouTube channel and footage for our social media team at the same time. Plaza Restaurant Once the food arrives, it’s a rush to get all the pictures and footage we need of all the items before they get too cold. Of course, during this process, I’m probably taking dozens of photos total, and the other guests are looking at me weird, and the waiter has already stopped by to ask me if my food is good twice, but I haven’t even taken a bite yet. (BREATHE, Lydia, breathe!) Seriously, it’s like my own little dining marathon. But if a regular table service meal is a marathon, then the Disney World character meals are my OLYMPICS. Hey, Chef Mickey! Character meals are a whole new beast when it comes to food reviews, because between all the photos of the food and the taste notes and interacting with your server, you ALSO have to find time to photograph and video each character and think of fun ways to interact with them! These are typically my longest dining reviews because there’s just so much to cover. Pluto! Things get even more challenging if I’m reviewing a character meal with a buffet — that requires photos of all the items on the buffet (so that you guys know what’s available at the restaurant!), as well as YouTube footage. And I can’t just walk up and hold up the line to film and snap pics. I do my best to wait until the buffet is emptier before I try to capture any content. Tusker House Dining reviews are a big part of my job here at DFB, so over the past few years, I’ve gotten pretty good at them! With lots of practice, you learn how to be efficient, how to find the best lighting, and how to have the best character meal interactions. And of course, I’ve had plenty of opportunities to eat some delicious food along the way! Chef Mickey’s For our list of top Disney World restaurants for 2025, check out the video below! 24. A Walt Disney World holiday production and a former UCF professor and Disney executive were among the recipients of Brass Ring Awards, honors presented by IAAPA. “What’s This? Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas Singalong,” part of the Disney Jollywood Nights event at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, was named most creative winter holiday production. The show features music and characters from the 1993 film directed by Burton. One of three Inspiration Awards was given posthumously to Duncan Dickson, who was a professor in the Rosen College of Hospitality Management at the University of Central Florida for more than 20 years and the director of casting at Walt Disney World for almost 20 years before that. Dickson died in 2024. Those were the only Orlando-oriented winners in the global competition, which salutes excellence in live entertainment, food and beverage, marketing, human resources, sustainability games and merchandise within the attractions industry. Winners were announced during the 2025 IAAPA Honors event at Europa-Park in Rust, Germany. Universal Studios Hollywood won for most creative Halloween production with “The Purge: Dangerous Waters,” which was staged during the theme park’s Halloween Horror Nights event, and Universal Beijing Resort was honored for best creative atmosphere production with “Universal’s Half Time Show.” Winning in three categories were Europa-Park for its “20 Jahre Colosseo” (most creative spectacular), best health and wellness program and best innovation in training; and Morey’s Piers and Water Parks of New Jersey for customized game prize, visual merchandise display and custom retail souvenir for Curley’s Fries Dog Toys. Vancouver Aquarium was honored for best new F&B special event (called Fish & Sips) and for best new menu item (the Megalodon Burger). Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party welcome sign We’re thrilled to hear some of our favorites are returning, including the meet and greet with the one and only Jack Skellington and Sally. However, Disney released an interesting promo video that shocked us because…well…Jack looks DIFFERENT! Um, yeah, HELLO! That’s a FULL face of Jack Skellington that looks wildly similar to the actual animated film! And his hands are the same way — they don’t look like gloves (though we know they are) anymore, they look like actual skeleton hands and you can consider us flabbergasted. Let’s just take a closer look, because WOW. ©Disney Now we’re even MORE excited to meet Jack and Sally in person this year at the party! Their line is almost always quite long, so we recommend getting in line sooner rather than later OR waiting until closer to the end of the night if you want to be sure to catch them. 27. We just got some BIG news about Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party coming back to Magic Kingdom this year, and it’s time to wrap up all we know and put a nice, big, slightly spooky bow on it! Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Disney just officially confirmed the party WILL return to the park this year, so let’s go over EVERYTHING we know so we’re all on the same page, and feel as prepared as possible before we book our trips! What is it? Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is an after-hours event that takes place on select nights in Magic Kingdom during the Halloween season. It is an extra cost, but you don’t have to purchase a regular park ticket to be eligible to purchase a party ticket — in fact, many times we recommend ONLY purchasing a party ticket, since you can enter the park as early as 4 PM before the party officially begins. Jack and Sally! You’ll get to snack on tons of exclusive party eats and drinks, meet some of your favorite rare characters, see a fantastic Halloween parade that only happens during the party, see specialty entertainment shows (including fireworks), and so much more! For Halloween lovers who don’t like things to be on the scary side, this party is a great choice to celebrate the season. When is it Happening? This year, you can purchase a ticket to experience Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party on the following dates: August 15th, 17th, 19th, 22nd, 24th, 26th, 29th September 2nd, 5th, 7th, 9th, 12th, 14th, 16th, 19th, 21st, 23rd, 25th, 26th, 28th, 30th October 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, 10th, 13th, 14th, 16th, 17th, 19th, 23rd, 24th, 26th, 28th, 30th, 31st\ Hocus Pocus Stage Show October dates are often the fastest to sell out AND are the most expensive (which we’ll get into that below), so if you’re eying those dates, you’ll want to act fast when tickets go on sale starting on May 15th for Walt Disney World Resort hotels, Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels, and Shades of Green. All other guests can purchase tickets beginning on May 22nd. How Much Does it Cost? Unfortunately, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party tickets have seen a price increase this year. The price varies depending on what date you choose (weekend days and dates closer to Halloween are often more expensive), but they’ll range from $119 to $229 per ticket, plus tax this year. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party fireworks While Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club Members can save $10 per ticket, this discount is only valid for select dates in August and September, which is something to keep in mind if you want to take advantage of that discount while booking. Who Can I Meet? While we’re still waiting on a list of all the meet and greets you’ll be able to experience, we know for sure that: Jack and Sally will be meeting at “one of the many character stops that feature exclusive meet-and-greet opportunities” Mickey and Minnie will be meeting TOGETHER for the first time ever in their Halloween outfits at Tony’s Town Square Theater Mickey at his very own 2024 Not-So-Scary Halloween Party In the past, we’ve also seen meet and greets with characters like: The Hundred Acre Woods pals in their Halloween costumes near The Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh Tweedledee and Tweedledum AND Alice and The Queen of Hearts near Mad Tea Party Villains like The Evil Queen and Maleficent in Princess Fairytale Hall Maleficent at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party Disney has also said to “keep your eyes peeled because you may see new and returning Disney Villains appear as you creep by through the streets.” Potential roaming characters? Count us IN, Disney! Tell Me About That Special Food! While we’re still waiting for full menus to be released for this event, we do have a sneak peek at some of the snacks you’ll be able to try during this special event! You’ll be able to try: Madame Leota Séance Candle: Red Velvet Cake and Cookies and Cream Mousse Mickey-shaped Cheesecake: Pumpkin Cheesecake with Graham Cracker Crust and White Chocolate-whipped Ganache Beef Short Rib with Purple Potatoes: Braised with Red Wine, Figs, Peppers, and a touch of Dark Chocolate Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party 2024 We’re looking forward to getting the full list of new snacks and drinks we’ll be able to try, so stay tuned! What Else is There To Do? In addition to meeting characters and snacking away, you can also experience some extra special entertainment during the event AND go trick or treating! Trick or treating will take place at a dozen different treat trail stops, and this year, Disney says “guests can expect even more fun than ever before with some familiar (and fiendish) faces” along the trails! At each stop, Cast Members give out massive handfuls of Mars Wrigley candy, like M&Ms, Snickers and Starburst, and guests with allergies can grab a teal bag and collect teal tokens at each locations to redeem for allergy-friendly treats at Allergy-Friendly Centers. Trick or treating! We also got confirmation about the entertainment returning to the party this year! Mickey’s Boo-to-You Halloween Parade returns in all its glory. Its led by Mickey and Minnie and you’ll get a chance to see waltzing ghosts, Disney Princesses and treacherous villains, as well as rare characters! The parade will take place at 8:15 PM to allow for little ones to enjoy it as well before it gets too late for them. Boo-To-You Halloween Parade The Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular returns yet again! Guests will watch as Winifred, Sarah, and Mary try their haphazard best to cast a spell after 300 years (or, at least it feels that way) since their last appearance. They’ll need some help to complete their task, so get ready to see other villains like Hades, Cruella De Vil, Jafar, Dr. Facilier, and The Evil Queen. Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular Disney’s Not So Spooky Spectacular takes place on Cinderella Castle later in the evening, and guests are invited to a spooky story time led by none other than the Pumpkin King himself, Jack Skellington! His trusty sidekick Zero will lead Mickey and Friends inside, where spiderwebs, skeletons and Grim Grinning Ghosts await in a dazzling projection and fireworks show. Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular Select Disney World attractions will also see Halloween overlays! This year, you can experience spooky fun at: Space Mountain (pitch black with Halloween tunes) Mad Tea Party (special lighting effects and a unique ambiance) Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor (for a special Halloween themed joke-filled event) Based on previous casting notices, we also know that special Halloween entertainment is returning to Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion as well! 28. This is not a drill—our latest Loungefly obsession just dropped online, and we had to spread the news! Time to go shopping! Whether you’re headed to the parks or simply adding a dash of Disney magic to your day, this adorable (or terrifying) accessory is ready to turn heads and totally steal your heart. Let’s check it out! DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. This Newest Mickye Mouse Loungefly ©Disney Let’s be real: this bag is a lot. It’s bold, it’s glossy, and it’s literally Mickey’s entire face staring directly at you in 3D. One part adorable, one part slightly chaotic, and 100% conversation-starter, this Mickey Mouse Loungefly Bag is giving total main character energy in the most unexpected way. The bag is designed with an adjustable shoulder strap that’s also detachable, making it perfect for comfort and customization, which we totally adore. ©Disney The inside of the bag features an all-over Mickey Mouse print that is truly adorable, adding a dash of classic Disney style that totally balances out the bag’s slightly spooky stare. And while it’s compact enough for your daily essentials, it still packs a punch as a bold, head-turning statement piece that can elevate just about any outfit and bring out your inner Mouseketeer. ©Disney Honestly, this bag is like someone took Mickey straight out of a classic cartoon short and turned him into a shiny, wearable sculpture. Which… might be genius? Or a little scary? Possibly both? You let us know how you feel. Regardless, this bag is a total mouse-terpiece and perfect for any Mickey Mouse lover. We cannot wait to see this bag out and about at the parks. We know it’ll leave folks absolutely mouse-merized! (Apologies for the mouse puns, I know it’s cheesy). Shop from Disney Store We’re always on the lookout for the newest and most mouse-tacular Disney merch, so stay tuned to us here on DFB for more! Like what you see?
