Six Flags Magic Mountain just announced the breathtaking details of a NEW record-breaking coaster that’s coming to the Valencia, California park.

The new coaster, Thrill Glider, is set to debut at the park next year. According to the park, the new hybrid coaster will combine motorbike-style seats (dubbed “hovercycles”) with a traditional suspended ride track that will traverse launches and inversions, including a zero-g roll and 12 airtime moments, at speeds reaching 50 mph.

The Vekoma-designed coaster will set a series of records and industry firsts when it opens, including:

  • World’s First Thrillglider
  • World’s First Multi-Launch Thrillglider
  • World’s Longest Thrillglider – 3,380 feet, which is more than half a mile
  • World’s Fastest Thrillglider – 50 mph
  • World’s Tallest Thrillglider – 107 feet
  • Most Inversions on a Thrillglider – 5

Despite these record-breaking elements, the coaster will feature a minimum height requirement of just 48 inches, making it more accessible than some of the park’s other coasters for younger riders.

In addition, Thrill Glider will also include an in-depth backstory that’s more fleshed out than most Six Flags attractions. The ride’s queue will place riders at the headquarters of “QuantumPulse Propulsion Systems,” a fictional technology company that discovers “PSR B417,” a “powerful new energy source with the potential to transform the future.” This “Futurist Pavilion” queue experience will feature displays and holographic exhibits designed to expand on and immerse guests in the attraction’s backstory.

Brian Oerding, park president of Six Flags Magic Mountain.said Thrill Glider is “more than a new attraction. It is the latest milestone in Six Flags Magic Mountain’s renaissance and a reflection of the park’s enduring role as an industry innovator.”

Thrill Glider will be the latest coaster to join Magic Mountain’s stacked lineup, which has led to the park being billed as the “Thrill Capital of the World.” Other well-known coasters at the park include The New Revolution, Goliath, Tatsu, Twisted Colossus, and Wonder Woman Flight of Courage, nearly all of which either currently hold world records or held them upon opening.
