Disney4me Posted Friday at 08:19 PM Report Posted Friday at 08:19 PM Universal Orlando opened Epic Universe in May 2025, and we’re already seeing plans for future updates to the park! Epic Universe! Construction is underway in plots of land adjacent to the park where expansions can go, and we’ve spotted several permits filed so far that hint at future attractions and offerings. But now, there’s a new patent that could reveal even more details. The patent was original filed by Universal back in 2023, but was recently approved. The design is for “propulsion for an amusement park ride” and shows figures of a new type of ride vehicle. ©Universal The figures showcase a two-person vehicle with what appears to be a steering apparatus in the middle. It’s propelled by two different fluids that surround the vehicle at the base. There are two different models in the patent — one where the fluid around the vehicle is held in a curved shape, and one where it’s more free-flowing. ©Universal There’s also a model that appears to show the path this ride vehicle would take, featuring a “station” (possibly a spot to board the ride) and two rounded rectangular paths. One figure in the patent shows the ride vehicle’s ability to go up a hill, so it’s possible that one of the rectangular paths in this diagram is located above the other. ©Universal The patent explains how the ride vehicle would work in a flow chart, noting that the system is built with a trough base and vehicles are propelled above the floor using fluids. ©Universal We’ll be on the lookout for Universal to use this patent in any future attractions. We know that there’s more for Epic Universe on the horizon, so could it be for a new ride there? Or perhaps a new ride at one of Universal’s other parks? We’ll let you know as soon as Universal makes any announcements. What Is Coming to Epic Universe? See an Important Permit Here!
