The one thing about EPCOT is that not only can you eat, drink, and shop around the world without ever leaving the park, but the park is also home to one of the world’s largest aquariums, and that aquarium holds 5.7 million gallons of water and is home to over 4,000 sea creatures.

The Seas

The best part is you can visit this aquarium at The Seas Pavilion anytime you visit EPCOT. Well, if you love visiting The Seas Pavilion as much as we do, you now have a NEW reason to visit. EPCOT just introduced a new species of fish to its aquarium!

Planning guide for the ultimate Disney vacation

The new species of fish is a Napoleon Wrasse, and it’s a fish that the EPCOT aquarium has never had before, so it’s all pretty exciting. Here’s what it looks like (so you know to look for it when you next visit The Seas). This species is indigenous to the Indo-Pacific area and is an endangered species.

Disney named him Toa, which is a Maori word meaning “warrior” or “victor.” One of the main things that Toa eats is the crown-of-thorns sea star, which can do serious damage to coral reefs by overgrazing. So having him in EPCOT can show us all how important a fish like Toa is to keep coral reefs alive and well. Toa is basically a warrior and victor for his species and coral reefs.

The male Napoleon Wrasse can reach a size of up to 90 inches long and a weight of up to 421 pounds. The species is also known as the Humphead Wrasse due to the hump on the foreheads of adults of the species. Because the species is endangered, it is now protected in many countries. Here’s the video Disney posted about the new addition:
