Disney4me Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago One of the most popular vacations to take is a cruise, especially because there are so many different ships, destinations, excursions, and experiences! ©Disney Some of the most popular destinations in past years were in the Caribbean, whether that be to the Cayman Islands, Aruba, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. But that’s not the case this year. Watch out, Europe and Alaska, because you’re the hot spot destinations for cruisers this year! According to recent data released by Expedia, Mediterranean, Northern and Southern Europe, and Alaska are the top cruise routes for 2026, and they saw a 250% increase compared to last year! So, what’s the reason? A big one is their private islands and destination-rich locations! Donald Duck on a Disney Cruise to Alaska! Private islands are becoming one of the major reasons people are booking cruises to certain destinations. It’s no longer just a stop at the beach, but it’s becoming a whole experience! Cruise lines are really investing in their exclusive islands to the point where they’re becoming a full-scale adventure with dining and activities. ©Royal Caribbean Take Royal Caribbean’s Paradise Island for example — this private island has its own pool and swim-up bar, and offers dining options, a DJ, and unlimited drinks. Did I mention there are two beaches attached, too? ©Royal Caribbean Even though the Caribbean remains one of the most popular regions for cruising, there is increasingly strong interest for Mediterranean, Alaskan, and European cruises, with some of these destinations seeing a growth interest in the TRIPLE digits! From last year to this year, the Mediterranean saw a 255% growth increase, Northern Europe saw a 270% growth increase, Southern Europe saw a 260% growth increase, and Alaska saw a 90% growth increase. ©Holland America A lot of people are opting to book longer and more destination-rich trips for their bigger vacations, which makes these destinations very popular options! So, the best thing you can do is book early! Travelers who book early may score better room options and added perks!
