Disney brings out cleaners every night to dust off park icons like Cinderella Castle and Spaceship Earth. Magic Kingdom But the weather this weekend has other plans – Disney World might be COVERED in dust soon! Here’s everything you need to know if you’re headed to the parks this weekend. According to Orlando News 6, Saharan dust is making its annual several-thousand-mile trip across the Atlantic Ocean this week. The bulk of the Gulf of Mexico coastline will be affected by Saharan dust, as well as the Yucatán Peninsula in Mexico and central Florida, all the way up to Orlando. ©News 6 The dry, dusty airmass is expected to move into Florida on Saturday and into Sunday. As a result, rain chances will drop, and temperatures will soar. Highs will top in the upper 90s with rain chances dropping to 30%. This Saharan dust storm will bring a milky haze to the sky or dirt residue on outside objects from rain carrying dust particles to the ground. That’s what happened when we went to EPCOT during a Saharan dust storm to find a thick coat of dust on the outside of Spaceship Earth! Spaceship Earth was DUSTY! The dust is usually suspended thousands of feet in the air, which will help enhance the sunrise and sunset on Sunday and Monday. The extra particles in the atmosphere will help to scatter light more, enhancing the beautiful red, orange, and pink colors in the sky. Be sure to get your golden hour pictures in!
