It was a Disney Channel reunion! ©Disney Celebrities have been visiting Disney Parks since Disneyland first opened in 1955, with the nearly 70 years since seeing everyone from dignitaries and actors to sports stars and musicians making documented visits to the parks. Recently a former Disney Channel star shared some snaps from a recent visit to Disneyland Paris. Spouse’s post also included images of the actor (looking purposely disaffected, as is his image) with Mickey Mouse, Pluto… @ColeSprouse Instagram … and Cinderella. @ColeSprouse Instagram Sprouse and his brother starred in the Disney Channel smash hit Suite Life of Zack and Cody as well as its spinoff Suite Life on Deck from 2005-2011. He went on to even greater success in the role of Jughead Jones on the long-running Archie Comics adaptation Riverdale. According to People, Sprouse was in Paris for Fashion Week when he visited the park. ©Disney Former Disney Channel star Cole Sprouse recently paid a visit to Disneyland Paris. There’s a new hotel addition coming soon to Disney World! ©Disney For a while now, we’ve been watching construction at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, where a new Disney Vacation Club (DVC) tower is being built. The Island Tower is set to open in December with new dining, entertainment, and hotel rooms, and we can’t wait! We stopped by the Polynesian Village Resort recently to check out the construction progress, and things are moving along FAST. Disney only has two months for everything to be ready for the first guests, and the outside of the building is really coming together. Construction progress A new walkway has been paved around the pool area, and it looks like elements for the Moana-themed splash pad have been installed. Disney has also started planting some trees that definitely help give off the island vibe. New walkway The pool even had water in it during our visit! This pool area has a great view of Seven Seas Lagoon — we could see the Disney Wedding Pavilion in the distance. The pool Windows have been installed on the building, and it looks like it’s time for final touches to start going inside. There are still some exterior elements that need to be completed, including painting on some of the support beams. Work inside After we checked out the construction outside, we hopped on the Monorail to get a different view. And from there, we could see the new mural on the side of the building. Very Polynesian and whimsical! A mural! We can’t wait to explore this hotel building ourselves when it opens on December 17th. We’ve already learned about some of the perks that those staying at this tower will have, and we’ve even gotten a sneak peek inside the rooms. There’s going to be a lot to see! Okay, so you know us, and we have a lot of favorite dining spots ALL over Disney World. Animal Kingdom But if you asked us about our favorite park for food, we very well might tell you that if we could choose a park JUST based on its food, we’d choose Animal Kingdom every time. The food there just SLAPS. However, we have a favorite quick-service spot there, too, and yes, you know where we’re going with this if you’ve been with us for a while. Two words: Cheeseburger Pods. Yep, we love Satu’li Canteen, and well, now a former Disney Imagineer who had a lot to do with helping create Animal Kingdom has commented on that restaurant! We love that! Of course, the person who helped create the land would put it so succinctly. All we know is that the food here is INCREDIBLE and it fits the Pandora theme SO WELL. We guess it’s time to go get some more Cheeseburger Pods… Stay tuned to DFB for more. WE KNOW – there are SO many great snacks at Disney World! Extra, extra, read all about it! Seriously, we’re sure Disney World hasn’t had a wink of sleep because it has dropped so many new updates this week. If you’ve missed out, this is your chance to catch up! Cinderella Castle I’m back again with another round of WHAT’S NEW UPDATES AT DISNEY WORLD, a rundown on all the epic news and updates that happened at Disney World this past week. This week, we got the 4-1-1 on a Disney World hotel pool reopening, a Hollywood Studios attraction now being permanently closed, and a popular restaurant finally being open 7 days a week! EXCITING POOL NEWS: A Disney World Hotel Pool Has Finally Reopened There is one commonly overlooked form of entertainment at Disney World — pools. Fuentes del Morro Pool When people think about their Disney World trip, they tend to focus on the four theme parks. And we get it, the parks are obviously a huge draw and full of excitement! However, the pools at the Disney World hotels are lots of fun. Several include water slides, hot tubs, and a bit of relaxation amid your semi-chaotic “vacation.” Luckily, anyone staying at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort has some pool news to celebrate! Caribbean Beach Resort Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort has six pools, including the Fuentes del Morro pool and five leisure pools. While the Fuentes del Morro Pool has lots of exciting features, such as two waterslides, spray water cannons, and a shipwreck play area, the leisure pools offer great escapes from the boisterous ongoings of the parks. Fuentes del Morro pool One of the five leisure pools has been closed for some time for refurbishment, but we have great news. The Barbados Leisure Pool has now reopened for your use to relax and swim! Barbados pool The Caribbean Beach Resort is divided into five villages representing different areas of The Caribbean. As you might imagine, the Barbados Leisure Pool is located in the Barbados Village. While it was closed, those staying in the Barbados Village were welcome to check out one of the other village pools, but you’ll no longer need to travel far to soak up some sun! Barbados Village Pool The Caribbean Beach Resort is a very spread-out resort with sandy beaches, jogging trails, fishing experiences, a playground, and more. It is located along the Disney Skyliner with its own Skyliner station that it shares with Disney’s Riviera Resort. If you’re looking for a Moderate resort to stay at on your next trip, this may be a great option if you enjoy a leisurely experience and Caribbean vibes. Caribbean Beach Resort We’re happy to see this pool reopen for Caribbean Beach Resort guests to enjoy! A Definitive Ranking of EVERY Disney World Hotel! NEWS! A Disney’s Hollywood Studios Attraction Is Now Permanently Closed The time has officially come in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Hollywood Studios Recently, we said goodbye to an adorable attraction that was fit for all ages. Over on Sunset Boulevard, tucked away close to where Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is located but even FURTHER behind it sat Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy, but as of now, it’s no more. Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy It was announced back in the beginning of September that Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy would close to make way for a new show, and the official last day of operation was October 7th. As of now, the area is roped off and construction will begin soon to turn it into the new show area. The area is now roped off! In case you didn’t get to experience it, Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy was about a 15-minute show that brought you to Lightning McQueen’s virtual racing track to teach you how to use it, but his nemesis Chick Hicks breaks into the system and challenges Lightning McQueen to another race. Lightning McQueen’s friends step in to help him when Chick starts to cheat during the race, helping Lightning win despite all the struggles in his way, reminding us that at the end of the day, winning or losing doesn’t matter — it’s the friends you have with you. Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy Kids and adults alike appreciated the show, especially the epic Lightning McQueen animatronic. It was quite iconic and impressive, and we really will miss him! Lightning McQueen animatronic However, this area will become the home to a new Villains show in 2025! So far, we know that this show will feature villains like Captain Hook, Maleficent, and Cruella de Vil, and it’s been teased that they’ll break through glass as they take the stage for live production numbers! ©Disney We’re excited about this new addition coming to Hollywood Studios! REVIEW: The Locals Want Us to Gatekeep This Hollywood Studios Spot…but You NEED TO KNOW! EXCITING EPCOT NEWS: A Popular Restaurant Will FINALLY Be Open Seven Days A Week Again Four years ago, Disney World closed and then later reopened due to the global pandemic. After four years, some things still have not returned to normal in Disney World. EPCOT For example, much of Disney World’s streetmosphere entertainment, like the Citizens of Main Street, have never returned. Some restaurant offerings (like afternoon tea at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort) never returned. Although a lot of things are now back to normal, even some restaurant hours haven’t been the same since 2020. One EPCOT restaurant, though, has finally returned to being open seven days a week, for the first time since 2020. Japan Pavilion in EPCOT Takumi-Tei, in the Japan Pavilion in EPCOT’s World Showcase, closed with Disney World in 2020 and didn’t reopen until 2022. After its reopening, though, its hours remained limited to Thursday through Mondays, meaning it was closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Takumi-Tei However, a few weeks ago, Takumi-Tei expanded its hours and added Wednesdays to when it would be open. We recently noticed that the restaurant will add Tuesdays back to its schedule as of November 5th, meaning the restaurant will be open seven days a week for the first time since its reopening. You’ll be able to book the restaurant for dinner every day from 4:30PM to 7:30PM. ©Disney We recently visited Takumi-Tei, and although the restaurant is pricey, we’d revisit it again. The dining experience is second to none, and the food is well-presented and tasty. The restaurant features a prix-fixe menu consisting of two “omikase” (aka where the chef curates your meal) multi-course meal options: an omnivorous “Kiku” meal for $250 per person and a plant-based “Hasu” meal for $250 per person. You can also choose wine pairings to go with your meal. You can read our most recent review here. We’re happy to see this restaurant is back to being open 7 days a week! Of course, that’s not all that happened! There are plenty of things that happen every single day at Disney World. Check out EVERYTHING by clicking through the links below! There are so many dining options in Disney World that you may be confused as to why someone would choose to go to the McDonald’s on property. Ba Da Ba Ba Bah… But for our reporters, and many of the Disney World staff who are there every single day, sometimes you’re just in the mood for some basic fast food. Or, maybe you’ve got a picky kiddo and you don’t want to fight them on what they’ll eat (or if you’re picky yourself!), or are arriving at the resort late and want to grab something with a drive-through. Whatever your reasoning, we get it. However, there is one thing about this McDonald’s we need to warn you about — you might not be expecting it! This McDonald’s is almost just like any other you’ll find across the nation — the same menu, same taste (for the most part), all the things you know and love about the chain. However, when you go to take a sip of your drink, you’ll notice that there’s something different with your straw. Happy Meal Since the McDonald’s is located on Disney World property, that means there’s one very obvious rule it has to follow — using paper straws instead of the plastic ones you usually get at these restaurants. This is because back in 2018 Disney made a commitment to reduce plastic waste in an effort to help the environment. Their 2030 Environmental Goals Report states that they have successfully eliminated over 200 million plastic straws and stirrers per year with this change! Disney World McDonald’s While this is great for the environment, it doesn’t make it great for drinking sometimes, as many drinks are much harder to enjoy with those paper straws, and you’ll find that to be the case around all of Disney World (except for Joffrey’s locations, which use those biodegradable sugarcane straws that we’re much bigger fans of). So, if you’re not a fan of these straws, you’ll want to prepare to take the lid off your drink and just drink it straight from the cup, or you can bring your own reusable straw. Hi. Frequent traveler here. I go to Disney World a lot. I recently flew to Paris (and stopped by Disneyland Paris, duh). I’ve tested some tricky airplane gadgets and accessories, and I have some thoughts. Orlando International Airport One thing that is hard for me — and many others — is falling asleep on an airplane. Those airplane seats aren’t exactly comfortable. But what can you do about it? Well, we tested two viral neck pillows from Amazon, and there was a clear winner. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. OK, we’re starting with this neck pillow that is officially known as a Neck Donut. It comes in this handy little bag and folds up to be pretty compact. Neck Donut bag Our first thoughts? Unfolded, it looks a little bit like a neck brace. But on a long flight, that might be just what you need to keep your head supported! Ultimately, this felt like a regular neck pillow when we put it on. This product was able to hold its shape throughout the flight but still folded up easily. It was pretty darn comfortable! Donut Neck Pillow After a while, we will admit that our neck started feeling a little stiff, but that’s hard to avoid when you’re sleeping upright. We would go with this over any classic neck pillow, and if you’re looking for something on a budget, this is great. If you’re looking for a comfortable, basic travel pillow, you should be able to fall asleep easily with this product. View Online! Time for the competition to enter the arena. We also tested the viral Trtl (as in “turtle”) on Amazon, and this one did NOT disappoint. ©Amazon This isn’t a typical neck pillow. It’s more like a fleece headrest with soft fabric and a sturdy hard side to lean your face on. Yes, we were skeptical at first (especially for the price), but after seeing SO MANY positive reviews, we went for it. ©Amazon We LOVE this product. Yes, it is more expensive than the Neck Donut. However, for those who travel a lot or plan to spend multiple hours on a long flight, comfort is an important factor to keep in mind. The best way to describe what this does is to imagine resting your head on someone’s shoulder. This pillow was specifically designed to remove any neck stiffness or discomfort so you can sleep for hours — upright — without any pain when the pillow comes off. 10/10 would recommend. View Online! When we’re comparing the Trtl vs. the Neck Donut, the Trtl was our winner. In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest travel products, so stay tuned for more. Did you know we have a Disney-themed Amazon Storefront? Check it out!The post We Tested Two Viral Neck Pillows -- And One Was a Clear Winner first appeared on the disney food blog. We don’t know about you, but we are excited about all the new things coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Disney’s Hollywood Studios First, there’s going to be a villains-themed show, which is set to premiere in 2025. FINALLY, the villains are getting their time to shine in Disney World. However, what’s even more exciting is that Disney plans on building a Monsters, Inc. land in Hollywood Studios, and that land will have a new suspended coaster ride based on the doors scene in the movie! We’ve only wanted that ride FOREVER. However, the more we think about it, the more we’re worried about that ride. We’ll tell you why. It could have screens Okay, so we’ve already shared this concern before, but we’re worried that the ride might use screens. Now, granted, screens aren’t ALWAYS a bad thing, but if they’re used a lot, it just takes away from the ride (and we saw a lot of complaints about Tiana’s Bayou Adventure for its use of screens). The concept art of the ride certainly makes the wall of doors on the right look like screens. ©Disney However, if this is the ONLY use of screens and there are other scenes and parts of the ride using animatronics and practical effects, it could work and not take away from the ride. If the New ‘Monsters, Inc.’ Coaster Follows This ANNOYING Trend, 60% of Disney Fans Will NOT Be Happy It might be a LONG time before the ride is completed Disney has not yet set a timeline for the new Monsters, Inc. land or ride, and we haven’t seen anything exciting happening at Hollywood Studios yet, so it doesn’t look like the company is in a hurry to get started on it. Given that, it could be likely that we’ll be waiting YEARS for the ride to be finished and open. ©Disney We HOPE to start seeing construction start at least as early as 2025, but until Disney announces its plans for certain, we’re just going to have to wait. When Is the New Monsters, Inc. Land Opening in Disney World? It might replace Muppets Courtyard There is already a LOT of speculation about where the new land and ride will go, and many fear it will end up replacing Muppets Courtyard, meaning that Muppet*Vision 3D could be a thing of the past once work begins on the new land. Muppet*Vision 3D We’re hoping this is NOT the case, as there are other areas of Hollywood Studios that probably have the space for the new land, and let’s just say we wouldn’t cry if it replaces Launch Bay instead. Is This the END of The Muppets at Disney World as We Know It?! The seats might not be comfortable or friendly to all body types Looking at the concept art, the seats for the suspended coaster don’t look entirely comfortable. We don’t see any pull bars that go over the shoulders, though, so it looks like you might be strapped in with your feet dangling over the edge of the seat. However, one thing we notice in looking at the seats is that they’re pretty slim, meaning they might not be accessible to all body types. ©Disney We have to give Disney some credit, though. The TRON Lightcycle / Run bikes aren’t friendly to all body types, but Disney does provide accessible seating for those who need it — could this ride have something similar? Close-Up Look At NEW Monsters Inc. Coaster Announced for Disney World! It might not be family-friendly One thing we’re really worried about is what the height requirement might be for the new ride. We did a little digging and looked at similar suspended roller coasters (based on what little knowledge we have about this one) at Six Flags, and the height requirements ranged from 42 inches to 54 inches. By comparison, Slinky Dog Dash has a height requirement of just 38 inches. Slinky Dog Dash has a 38″ height requirement Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and TRON Lightcycle / Run both have height requirements of 48 inches, while Expedition Everest has a height requirement of 44 inches. So, this suspended coaster might have a higher height requirement than a few of the Disney World coasters, meaning younger ones might be left out. What Will Disney’s NEW Monsters, Inc. Roller Coaster Be Like? We Found Some CLUES You might have to store things in lockers Given how wild this ride turns out to be, you might have to store things in a locker, like you do for TRON Lightcycle / Run. A suspended roller coaster means more things could fly off (including shoes), so you may have to go through the whole process of storing your items before your ride. Lockers at TRON: Lightcycle / Run Also, the concept art does not show any places on the ride vehicle to store your things. That can be a hassle, especially since you’ll have to retrieve your items after the ride. The Secret Proof That Disney’s NEW Monsters Inc. Land Has Been in Development for YEARS So, these are some things to think about as we start to learn more about the new ride coming to Hollywood Studios. It can be difficult to avoid the rain when visiting Disney World. That’s why it’s so important you come prepared with the right equipment. Rainy Day in Magic Kingdom What you’re wearing can make or break your Disney World vacation, especially when the weather is inclement. Take it from us, if a storm hits and you’re not wearing the proper shoes, you’re guaranteed a miserable experience. That’s why we polled our team and found THE BEST shoes to wear when it rains at Disney World! DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Chaco Sandals ©Amazon It might sound weird, but one of our favorite picks to wear in the rain is actually sandals! The Chaco Women’s Z/1 Classic Sandals are big winners with us. In our experience, they grip really well as opposed to most other flip-flops and dry fairly fast. This particular pair on Amazon comes in several different sizes and colors while featuring anti-stink properties for odor control and durable high-tensile webbing heel risers. Buy on Amazon Crocs has a large fanbase, and if you’re a part of it, you won’t want to miss this next pick! ©Amazon It’s hard to go wrong with Crocs Unisex-Adult Classic Clogs! These shoes are known for their personality and comfort, and this particular pair on Amazon comes in several different sizes and colors. View on Amazon We’ve gone sandal-heavy so far, so why break the trend? Cat & Jack sandals Hey, kids and folks with smaller feet go to Disney World when it rains, too. One could argue that’s actually Disney World’s largest demographic! If you or someone you know fits this description, we recommend Cat & Jack sandals! These are great alternatives to sneakers as they have adjustable straps and grip really well. This particular pair is available via Target and comes in seven different sizes and seven different colors. Check them out online at Target.com The last shoe we want to recommend isn’t a shoe at all! Silicone Waterproof Shoe Covers Sometimes, you already have the perfect shoes and just want to protect them. In that case, we recommend Silicone Waterproof Shoe Covers. These can go over your sneakers to protect them from rainfall and puddles while giving you solid slip resistance. You can pick up a pair on Amazon and choose from three different fits and seven different colors. Buy on Amazon What are your go-to rain shoes when you visit Disney World? We’re looking forward to the coming week in Magic Kingdom! Magic Kingdom One of Magic Kingdom’s most popular and iconic rides will FINALLY be reopening. Get ready for tons of puns, the back side of water, and loads of jungle animals on a cruise down the Nile and other famous rivers of the world. Other than this reopening, though, Disney World still has several closures. Take a peek at what will be closed during your vacation on the week of October 12th through October 19th. Jungle Cruise The wild river ride closed on August 26th, and no, this is not some joke the Skippers just came up with! The Jungle Cruise will be back soon! The punny ride was scheduled to be closed for refurbishment until October 18th, but the website is showing times for cruises starting October 16th (TWO days early)! If you’re visiting Magic Kingdom this week, you may be one of the first to see the eighth wonder of the world, the backside of water, once again. Hopefully, the next time you visit, you’ll get to “ooo” and “ahhh” and this marvel! For other closures around Disney World from October 12th through October 19th, keep reading below! Magic Kingdom Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade We had to say goodbye to an opening day attraction on June 23rd. Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade The Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade was around for generations and provided simple fun to all who played. Now, the attraction has closed to make room for a new Disney Vacation Club lounge. This lounge will be the third in Disney World, joining one in EPCOT and one at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Disney has not yet announced when the new lounge will open. “It Falls Short” Disney Fans Are Begging For This Retheme in Magic Kingdom Tomorrowland Terrace Tomorrowland Terrace is a quick-service restaurant that has been closed since the 2020 pandemic-related closures, but even before that, this spot was only occasionally open. Tomorrowland Terrace Once in a while, you’ll see the dining room open as a rest area (and it’s still being used for the Magic Kingdom Fireworks Dessert Parties), but it’s usually all roped off and empty. Tomorrowland Terrace seating Disney hasn’t announced when this spot could finally reopen, but we’ll be watching for updates. If you’re looking for a nice spot to hang out in Disney World and sit down for a rest, this could be it! EPCOT Test Track Test Track closed on June 17th, and Disney is giving this ride a BIG makeover! Test Track Disney has shared that the new version of Test Track will take inspiration from the old ride, World of Motion, that was originally there when the park opened in 1982. Disney recently shared more details at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Experience, including an opening timeline! We’ll be able to ride Test Trace once again in 2025. Restaurant Marrakesh Restaurant Marrakesh is currently closed as a dining location in the Morocco pavilion of EPCOT’s World Showcase, and there’s no word yet on when the restaurant could fully reopen. Restaurant Marrakesh However, it is currently open as the Florida Blue Lounge during the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival. So, if you’re in the Morocco Pavilion, check it out to see if it’s open. We’re watching for updates on when the full restaurant could reopen! ALERT: Iconic Backstage Tour Will Permanently CLOSE Next Week in EPCOT Hollywood Studios Voyage of the Little Mermaid Voyage of the Little Mermaid is currently closed in Disney World. But we recently spotted some construction walls up at the show! Voyage of the Little Mermaid Disney is going to introduce a new, updated show in this spot, though it will still be themed to the animated movie The Little Mermaid! The new show will be called “The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure” and is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Fall 2024. ©Disney Disney still hasn’t announced an official opening date for the new show, but hopefully, we’ll hear some news soon! It will be a “fully reimagined theatrical production inspired by the Walt Disney Animation Studios classic.” Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy The Cars-themed show featuring Lighting McQueen permanently closed on October 8th, 2024, to make way for a brand new villains show. Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy The show was previously housed in the Sunset Showcase building, but the last day for guests to enjoy it was October 7th. The new villains show is supposed to debut in the summer of 2025! We’re watching for more details about the new show. OH NO! A Popular Drink Has DISAPPEARED From Disney’s Hollywood Studios Blizzard Beach Blizzard Beach closed for refurbishment on March 17th. Blizzard Beach While Blizzard Beach is closed, Typhoon Lagoon is currently open. The two water parks often rotate off and on for being open. And recently, Disney announced that Blizzard Beach will be reopening on November 4th, when Typhoon Lagoon will close! Click here to learn all about Blizzard Beach Disney World Hotels Everything POP Shopping & Dining — Disney’s Pop Century Resort The Everything Pop Food Court will continue its refurbishment for the time being. Everything Pop Since July 29th, Everything Pop has been getting some work done. The refurbishment was supposed to end on September 29th. However, Disney updated the refurbishment timeline to extend it to November. This means the food court should have been back to full and normal operation, but that’s not the case. However, we did stop by and noticed a few updates — it’s looking really good so far! Guests can grab food at several counters and on mobile order, as well as use the limited seating while work is being done. World Premiere Food Court — Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort The World Premiere Food Court at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort has been undergoing refurbishment since July. World Premiere Food Court This food court closed for refurbishment on July 1st and was set to reopen on July 31st. However, a change on the Disney World website and speaking with Cast Members has indicated that did not happen. Disney has recently updated the website to say it won’t open until mid-October. While it has been getting a face-lift, guests have been able to mobile order from a limited menu on the Disney World app, and seating in the food court is still available. If you are in the early stages of planning your Disney World vacation, we know that this can be a super exciting yet very overwhelming time. EPCOT One of the very first things you will need to decide is WHEN you will be going to Disney World. There are 365 days to choose from each year, so there is no lack of options, but we are here to help you with some dates you will want to consider! Sometimes your dates might be chosen for you, whether it be due to work schedules, school schedules, or other obligations. However, if you are flexible on your dates, we want to make sure you consider these six things before you choose your Disney World vacation dates. Holidays Holidays are probably one of the biggest dates you want to consider when planning your Disney World vacation. They may end up being a more convenient time for your trip as you may be off work or your kids may be off school, but holidays will also be some of the more crowded times at Disney World. Especially if they are holidays that people tend to get off from work for. Crowds in Disney World Disney World is usually the MOST crowded around Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. However, even holidays like President’s Day, Memorial Day, and Labor Day will see increased crowds at the theme parks. There are also other holidays to consider such as Easter, July 4th, and Halloween. Christmas at Magic Kingdom Of course, certain times of the year may mean more decorations or special events. You can see Halloween decor and attend Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in the fall, or see Christmas decor around Thanksgiving and Christmas. We just recommend being aware of holidays that might be happening during your Disney World vacation and decide whether you want to be there during that time. Race Weekends Race weekends at Disney World bring in A LOT of crowds. You will see more congestion on the roads in the morning and road closures. You might also notice that the parks seem more crowded in the afternoon, and if you are staying in a resort close to the starting line you may be woken up VERY early with the start of the races. ©Disney Each year, runDisney hosts a variety of events. Here is the list of events that runDisney has announced for 2025 so far: Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend — January 8th-12th, 2025 Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend — February 20th-24th, 2025 runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend — April 3rd-6th, 2025 You can find a list of all the runDisney events and more information on the runDisney website. Spring Breaks and Summer Breaks It is also important to consider when spring breaks and summer breaks are happening for students. This may be the best time to go if you have kids, but if you don’t have kids, you will want to be aware that the parks will be more crowded during these breaks. Spring Break Crowds Timing does vary quite a bit depending on the school, but spring breaks are generally between March and April and summer breaks usually happen between June and August. There will still be people on school breaks outside of these times, but they are generally the most popular times for school breaks. Opening Days It is also important to pay attention to opening dates for new attractions and experiences. There will be quite a few things opening in 2025, and you will likely notice larger crowds on the opening days. Disney hasn’t announced official opening dates, but we are anticipating that six new attractions will be opening in 2025: Spaceship Earth Lounge in EPCOT Pirates of the Caribbean Lounge in Magic Kingdom Villains-themed show in Disney’s Hollywood Studios (summer 2025) Reimagined Test Track in EPCOT Disney Starlight — Magic Kingdom nighttime parade (summer 2025) Zootopia: Better Zoogether! show in Disney’s Animal Kingdom (winter 2025) As we get closer to the opening of these attractions, we will get announcements from Disney about the exact opening dates, so that will be something to look out for when planning your Disney World vacation. First Day of EPCOT Festivals Similar to opening dates for attractions, the first day of EPCOT festivals tend to bring in the crowds. You can still have lots of fun at the festivals, and other parks are usually a bit less crowded on opening day. It is just something to be aware of while you are planning your vacation. 2024 Food and Wine Festival Also, it is important to consider these dates if you are hoping to attend an EPCOT festival! Disney hasn’t announced the exact date of the festivals for 2025, but here is a quick look at the festival dates from 2024: EPCOT Festival of the Arts: January 12th through February 19th, 2024 EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival: February 28th through May 27th EPCOT Food and Wine Festival: August 29th through November 23rd, 2024 EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays: November 29th through December 30th, 2024 First Day of Seasonal Parties Finally, you will also want to consider the dates of the seasonal parties that happen at Disney World. Usually, the first day of the parties sell out and are crowded, but it is also important to consider these dates if you are hoping to attend one of the parties. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party There are a few seasonal parties at Disney World, and while we won’t know the exact dates they will be happening in 2025, here is a look at the dates from 2024: Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party: select nights August 9th through October 31st, 2024 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party: select nights from November 8th through December 20th, 2024 Disney Jollywood Nights: select nights from November 9th through December 21st, 2024 Only you will be able to decide what the best time is for your group’s Disney World vacation, but hopefully these tips will help you make the most of your vacation. Okay, Disney World is constantly changing, and that’s often a good thing. Pop Century Resort For example, we’re totally okay with all the NEW stuff coming to the parks (even if we’re a little sad about losing part of Magic Kingdom for new additions). We’re also excited when new restaurants get closer to opening and new snacks turn up. However, we get nervous when we see our favorite snacks go through changes. Now, we have to face a NEW change with a classic Disney hotel snack — we’re sure it’s okay, though. Right? IT WILL BE OKAY, RIGHT? If you’re a fan of the Tie-Dye Cheesecake at Disney’s Pop Century Resort, we’ve got some news for you. The cheesecake is STILL available at the newly reopened Everything Pop Food Court, BUT it has changed. So, a little backstory on this snack: its original shape was a triangular piece of cheesecake. Here’s the original: Then, Everything Pop started serving it as a round piece in a cup. Tie-Dye Cheesecake earlier this year Well, the triangular shape is BACK. Tie-Dye Cheesecake The good news is that this is still the same Tie-Dye Cheesecake you know and love for $5.99, although this shape makes it a little more fun. You’ve still got that delicious cheesecake on top of a red velvet cake crust. And really, that’s all that matters. So good! This classic snack isn’t yet listed on the menu for Everything Pop, and we didn’t see it on Mobile Order either, so you’ll probably have to hunt it down in the food court (or ask for it) if you want to grab one (worth it). It’s a fun resort-exclusive snack that’s both delicious and worthy of posting on your Instagram photo dump. Stay tuned to DFB for more. WE KNOW – there are SO many great snacks at Disney World! BEWARE This FRUSTRATING Disney World App Glitch!
Disney4me posted a topic in Disney Food/Restaurants
The My Disney Experience app is a fantastic tool to help you plan your Disney World vacation both before you arrive and while you’re in the parks. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Not only can you use your hotel key right on your app, but you can also book your Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass selections seven days in advance of your trip when you’re a hotel guest or three days in advance for all others. However, we ran into an issue recently when one of our team members was trying to pre-book their Lightning Lanes. We have the solution that you need to know about! OK, before we dive into what went wrong, we should give you a bit of background. Lightning Lane Multi Pass is an optional paid service available through the My Disney Experience app. It allows you to skip the standby lines and enter the Lightning Lane (previously known as the FastPass line) at select attractions. You pay one base price for multiple attractions, hence the name Lightning Lane Multi Pass. You can also pay for some additional, more popular rides separately, and those individual express passes are called Lightning Lane Single Pass. Everything You Need to Know About Lightning Lane Multi Pass in Disney World When purchasing Lightning Lane Multi Pass, you can make up to three Lightning Lane Multi Pass selections in a park in advance of your visit. Additionally, you can choose available times as you make your attraction selections and can continue to hold up to three Lighting Lane Multi Pass selections at a time. Lightning Lane So, what’s so special about booking your Lightning Lanes ahead of time? Well, the earlier you can book those reservations, the more likely you are to get the rides (and times) you want. Some of the rides available through Multi Pass are POPULAR, meaning they sell out pretty quickly. Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway Lightning Lane Got all that? Great, now let’s tell you what went wrong. Recently, our team member went to book their Lightning Lanes seven days in advance (since they were staying at a Disney hotel), but there was an issue — the app showed that they wouldn’t be eligible to book until later in the week, which wasn’t correct. However, everyone ELSE in their party could book those Lightning Lane reservations at the proper time. How odd! ©Disney This is a huge issue, of course, because some of these Lightning Lane reservations can go FAST, even seven days in advance, so not getting to book them until three days in advance (like non-hotel guests) when you’re supposed to be getting that hotel guest perk can really affect the selections you’re able to make. Our team member hopped on the phone to chat with guest services…only to find that the wait was 171 minutes! ©Disney However, they ended up getting the issue resolved after chatting online with an agent, but was still on the phone for an hour and 20 minutes. We’re not entirely sure what that Cast Member did behind the scenes to fix the issue, or what caused it in the first place, but thankfully, it was fixed and now shows Lightning Lanes can be booked at the correct time, seven days in advance. ©Disney So, if you’re planning to book Lightning Lanes seven days before your trip, or three days before if you’re not staying at a Disney hotel, be sure to check your app the day BEFORE that window opens to ensure that your app is saying you’ll be able to book on the correct date. The last thing you want is to go in right at 7AM and find out and then see that there’s a glitch! ©Disney If you do notice an issue, we recommend trying to get the issue solved via live chat FIRST, as the wait time is often much shorter online. Oh, and we have a few more quick tips if you need some more help purchasing Lightning Lanes! Whether you’re staying off property or not — and in turn booking your Lightning Lanes seven days in advance or three — there are some required steps and things we’d advise to prepare in advance: REQUIRED STEP: In order to purchase a Lightning Lane pass, you are required to have valid theme park admission for everyone in your group for whom you wish to make Lightning Passes REQUIRED STEP: Have your whole party loaded into and linked together on the My Disney Experience App before 7AM on the day you’re eligible to start booking Lightning Lanes so you can move through the process quickly. WE ADVISE: If you plan to purchase both Multi Pass and Single Pass for each day of your trip, do both for each day at the same time WE ADVISE: Have a plan of action. Read up on attractions and know which rides you want to shoot for as far as Lightning Lane Multi Passes go, and especially which Lightning Lane Single Pass options you wish to purchase As always, be sure to stay tuned to DFB for all the latest Disney news! You all know we LOVE our Disney Dole Whip treats. Dole Whip treat at Tropical Hideaway The creamy, fruity ice cream dessert hits the spot on all our Disney trips. You can grab several varieties of the treat at multiple locations at the Disney parks. One of the most popular spots to pick up a Dole Whip snack in Disneyland is at The Tropical Hideaway, and now we have a fun announcement to share about this counter service location that will make your next trip a little brighter! The Tropical Hideaway is a little snack shack that is off the beaten in Adventureland at Disneyland Park. Tucked between The Enchanted Tiki Room and the Jungle Cruise, you’ll find a variety of snacks here, including a variety of Dole Whip floats and swirls, potstickers, lumpia, bao buns, and more. The Tropical Hideaway Currently, this quick-service restaurant only uses a standby line to purchase its offerings. The line can get pretty long, especially for the Dole While items. Luckily, Disney will soon be fixing the problem for a limited selection of items! The Tropical Hideaway Disney announced that starting on October 16th, Disney will begin offering mobile order at what will be called The Tropical Hideaway Express! You’ll be able to order from a limited menu of Dole Whip options on your phone from the Disneyland app instead of waiting in a long line for your snack. ©Disney It currently shows up on the Disneyland app, but no dates or times are listed to select for orders. We should see these become available on October 16th, when the service begins. The menu is also currently listed on the app with a small selection of Dole Whip treats, including a Dole Whip Float, Dole Whip, Dole Whip Swirl, and Dole Whip Swirl Float. ©Disney If this menu remains the same on October 16th, it appears that any of the specialty and seasonal offerings, such as the Monstropolis Float for Halloween, will have to be ordered at the counter. Monstropolis float Those of us who enjoy a yummy Dole Whip treat on our trips to the parks are excited to see that it’s becoming EASIER than ever to grab it! Don’t miss out on these tasty snacks. The Contemporary Resort is an iconic Disney World hotel. Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort Not only did the resort open with Disney World on October 1st, 1971, but the monorail literally goes right through the building! The resort has a beautiful view of the Magic Kingdom, and those staying there can skip the mess at the Transportation and Ticket Center and instead take a nice stroll right up to the front gates of the park. Plus, where else in the world can you see a five-legged goat? Not only does the Contemporary have so much history, but it is also home to some pretty good eats, and there is one place we love to eat at that we feel is often overlooked. Hey, Netflix, we have a bone to pick with you. ©Netflix Netflix has spent the past year axing a LOT of shows, many of which only had the opportunity to get one season. As frustrating as this is, many of these shows also seemed pretty popular, leaving folks confused as to why Netflix has decided to cancel them. Well, two MORE popular shows on the streaming service just got the axe, too, and again, we’re left scratching our heads over the decision. Okay, a few days ago, we got the news from The Hollywood Reporter that Netflix has decided to cancel Kaos after just one season. Who cancels Jeff Goldblum? The series seemed pretty popular and was a hot topic on social media shortly after it premiered due to its modern take on Greek mythology. Jeff Goldblum as Zeus? That should run for MULTIPLE seasons. ©Netflix What’s confusing about this cancelation, though, is that Kaos also appeared in Netflix’s top 10 charts for English-language series in its first four weeks, eventually landing at #3. It had 14.9 million views over those weeks, but apparently, that’s not enough to convince Netflix that it was a hit. In the U.S., the show had 3.34 million views as of September 8th, per The Hollywood Reporter. The show only premiered in September, but streamers seem to be making hasty decisions about shows whose first seasons don’t immediately do as well as they hoped. ©Netflix However, The Hollywood Reporter has also reported that another Netflix show was recently canceled. Rob Lowe’s Unstable has also been given its marching orders after two seasons. The show starred Lowe as an eccentric biotechnology company head whose son (portrayed by Lowe’s real son, John Owen Lowe) must save the company and his dad from descending into utter chaos. The series’ second season, which debuted in August, didn’t make the streamer’s top 10 rankings and didn’t show up in Nielsen’s streaming rankings for that month. ©Netflix The show’s first season premiered in March 2023 and made one appearance in Netflix’s rankings, as well as two appearances on the Nielsen streaming charts. So far, that brings Netflix to a total of a whopping 10 shows canceled so far in 2024, but the year is still not over and it’s likely we’ll see more in the future. Stay tuned to DFB for more.
