Disney Springs has officially reopened today. Erin McKenna’s Bakery NYC A large number of third-party restaurants and retailers have reopened their doors at Disney Springs, and we’re here LIVE to check out all of the new health and safety measures that are in place. One of the locations that has reopened today is Erin McKenna’s Bakery NYC. Safety Measures The location is currently open from 10AM – 10PM. In order to promote safety, the bakery is only allowing one group in at a time. Markings are placed on the ground so guests waiting to go inside the bake-shop can distance themselves from other customers. Erin McKenna’s Once guests are inside, they are asked to stay behind the red tape. Parties must stand in or near the designated squares on the floor to look at the bakery case, make their payment, and wait for their treats to be given to them! Erin McKenna’s Tape on the Ground All of the Cast Members at Erin McKenna’s wore masks and gloves to handle food and beverages. Cast Member at Erin McKenna’s Menu If you’re visiting Erin McKenna’s Bakery NYC, you may be happy to know that the bakery is also offering their full menu. While the bakeshop is accepting orders by phone 24 hours in advance (with payment accepted over the phone), walk-ins are also welcome after they wait outside for their turn. The bakery is encouraging cashless payment as much as possible, but still accepting cash at this time. Erin McKenna’s Menu Can we have one of each?? Erin McKenna’s Bakery Case On top of Erin McKenna’s, there are so many other spots open in Disney Springs today that we’re giving you a first look at! You can see them all and everything else happening in Disney Springs today by following us LIVE! Are you planning to visit Disney Springs soon? Let us know in the comments below. You’ve already joined us for many of our Disney Springs stops today if you’ve been following along with our live coverage, and now it’s time to make another one! Disney Springs Let’s head off to Chicken Guy! next to see how it compares to our pre-closure visits. Line It looks like a bunch of folks were gearin’ up for some Guy Fieri goodness this morning before the restaurant officially opened. Chicken Guy! will be open every day from 11:30AM until 9:30PM for the time being. Chicken Guy! We got a kick out of the markers indicating where guests could stand out front which had little chicken feet on them. Very clever! Chicken Guy! There was also a Chicken Guy! greeter manning the front door. Since Chicken Guy! is rather small, he was only allowing guests in a few at a time. Greeter Inside the restaurant, a plexiglass shield has been installed at each cash register and also along the counter where the food is prepared. Chicken Guy! The chicken feet markers showing guests where to stand were present on the inside as well. Ordering When it was our turn, we walked up to the counter and placed our order. Cash Register Chicken Guy! was still accepting all forms of payment while the workers who were taking orders and payment weren’t doing anything else. Their card reader was a swipe-your-own-card type of situation. Limited Menu Chicken Guy! had previously announced they are using single-use menus instead of their reusable menus. We also noticed their menu board appeared to show everything as available (many other locations have offered limited menus). Chicken Guy! Menu Service All employees were wearing face coverings (which are required for all guests and cast members in Disney Springs). When it was time to pick up our food, a server called out our name and handed us our food (that way, people didn’t huddle up by the pick-up window.) Chicken Guy Another server was stationed at the self-serve beverage station to get your drink for you. Serving Soft Drinks Tables and Seating While it can be hard to find a table inside Chicken Guy! sometimes, it might be even more difficult now that tables are more spaced apart and there appear to be fewer of them. Chicken Guy! Chicken Guy! announced they altered their seating arrangement to promote social distancing and are sanitizing tables between each party. It’s too bad their expansion project hasn’t been completed yet since this restaurant could use some extra indoor seating. Read more about Chicken Guy’s construction project here! Food Since we’d already stuffed ourselves silly, we didn’t order a meal at Chicken Guy! today. Instead, we opted for this very light and refreshing Triple Double Mint Shake instead! Chicken Guy Triple Double Mint Shake We’re just kidding around — there’s nothing LIGHT about any of Chicken Guy’s milkshakes! They’re the real DEAL! Overall Experience Chicken Guy! was visibly implementing all of the safety measures they’d announced before opening. The biggest takeaways were the full menu and the fact that you won’t be able to use the self-service beverage station for the time being, Before your next visit, you can check out our full review of Chicken Guy! from before the closures here! We spent the day exploring a newly reopened Disney Springs and there were some changes to the complex in general. Frontera Cocina We were especially interested in what changes there were to dining. We’re not going to lie to you, we had a bunch of lunches today, but we did come back with a lot of knowledge about how third-party Disney Springs restaurants are instituting new health measures. Let’s take a look at what we learned at Frontera Cocina — and what we ATE. Check-In When we got to Frontera Cocina, we were met at the door by some pretty enthusiastic staff. In fact, the staff seemed to be in good spirits for pretty much our whole visit. According to a manager, the team came back early for safety training. Frontera Cocina The manager shared that there are some new protocols, but they still want things at Frontera Cocina to feel like a fiesta. Health Measures Right at the door, we noticed that there were some hand sanitizer stations for guest use. Of course, there are tons of these out and about in Disney Springs too, but Frontera Cocina did have their own as well. Sanitizer Station Like most dining and merchandise locations in the complex, Frontera Cocina had placed stickers to encourage physical distancing. Distancing Stickers As people left, we spotted that managers were sanitizing and wiping down every table and chair between guests. Menu Like many other locations, there were some changes to the menu too. You could opt to go touchless with a digital menu. The tent signs on the table had the QR codes needed to access the online menu. Once you scan the code with your smartphone, it automatically takes you to the online version of the Frontera Cocina menu. QR Code for Digital Menu Alternatively, they also had paper menus. According to our server, they’ve always had paper menus with the date printed, but now they aren’t reusing them with multiple guests. Paper Menu Our server joked that we should take ours as a historical souvenir. Food and Drink They were using standard glass and silverware. Our server handed us a paper-wrapped agave straw and was sure to tell us where he had touched the straw so that we didn’t touch the same spot. Frontera Cocina Glassware We opted to order the Chipotle Chicken Flautas and the Play with Fire Margarita. When our server brought our food, he carried it normally without the use of gloves — unlike many of the other locations we dined. The food looked great, and as usual, Frontera Cocina’s cuisine delighted! Flautas and Margarita The Play with Fire Margarita was awesome like all drinks typically are at Frontera. This cocktail is made from cucumber, jalapeño, fresh lime juice, agave nectar, a hibiscus salt rim, and your choice of Montelobos mezcal or Tromba Blanco Tequila. There was a balance of sweetness from the agave and tart from the lime. It was super refreshing with just the slightest amount of heat! Play with Fire Margarita And our Chipotle Chicken Flautas were pretty darn spectacular too. Our server let us know that they are filled with a mix of their mashed potatoes and chicken, so how could we not like them? The flavors were so yummy all melded together and they were a good portion for a starter! Flautas To-Go Option If you don’t have time for a full sit-down meal at Frontera Cocina, they are running a To-Go Window out of the closed Taco Express. To-Go Window We swung over and picked up a drink and things ran smoothly despite the new processes. Frontera Cocina Drink To Go Overall Overall, Frontera Cocina visibly cleaning surfaces and employees were informative. The QR menu was simple and easy to use and our food was delicious. The Cast informed us of new processes and shared how eager they were to be back at work and that excitement was visible and could be felt during our meal. We’ve been sharing with you what it’s like at Disney Springs now that its phased reopening is underway. Disney Springs And while STK Orlando was one of the first third-party restaurants we learned would be reopening on May 20th, we stopped by to see what service was like today with its new safety guidelines in place. We hope you’ve saved some room after our MANY dining escapades at The Boathouse, Wine Bar George, and a bunch of places at Disney Springs today ’cause it’s time to see what’s sizzlin’ at STK. Reservations and Seating We made our reservation on OpenTable for 2PM this afternoon. STK has extensive indoor and outdoor seating including a ground-level patio and rooftop bar. STK Today, STK was only offering seating outside. Menu STK had a reduced menu. They were offering a smaller-than-usual lunch menu with only three options listed. Lunch Menu STK’s dinner menu is also available all day, but many items on their standard dinner menu weren’t available. STK Menu At the bottom of the disposable paper menu, we noticed STK was selling dinner packages to-go! Most of the meals included a 6 oz. steak, sauce, and two sides. STK Menu STK’s bar menu including cocktails, bottled beer, and wine sold by the bottle or the glass appeared as extensive as we remembered it. STK Menu We ordered STK’s Signature Ribeye Sandwich for $19 and sat back while our food was prepared! Service and Food We noticed right away that everyone had gloves on, and tables were constantly be sanitized around us while linen tablecloths were being changed out after every guest. When our food arrived, it looked extra-yummy — even though we’d already had a lot to eat by this point of our day! Ribeye Sandwich at STK It was a really good quality sandwich, though — perfectly seasoned steak served on toasted buttery bread. Our only complaint was maybe we could’ve used more meat and cheese to go with all that bread which was plentiful. Ribeye Steak Sandwich The beef au jus, horseradish sauce, and ketchup were all included with the Ribeye Sandwich, but our server suggested we get the STK bold sauce for $2. Sauces We’re glad he did because he was right — it tasted like an even more awesome A1 steak sauce to us! Payment At the end of the meal, we were presented with the bill and provided with our own card reader. STK informed us that these were a new way that they would be processing payments. STK Self-Checkout This gave us the ability to swipe our own credit card instead of handing it off to our server. Overall Overall, our food was wonderful and the employees were visibly implementing their new safety procedures. We’re not going to lie though, we dined here for lunch and since seating was only be offered outside, we were really hot. So, if STK decided to continue only offering outdoor seating, you may want to dine earlier in the day or in the evening, If you won’t be able to make it to STK Orlando for some time, keep in mind you can order many of their signature cuts of meat and have them delivered right to your door! Vice President Mike Pence visited Orlando today to discuss tourism and the city’s reopening. Bubba Gump He spoke with representatives from the major theme parks Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando, and SeaWorld Orlando and “offered encouragement” to leaders in tourism. Pence opened by stating how he is anxious to reopen the economy and said his primary missions are to guide healthcare workers and open up America again. Representatives of the three major theme parks shared an update with Pence in a roundtable discussion — starting with a spokesperson from Universal Orlando, John Sprouse. He stated that following the reopening of CityWalk, they received “almost no negative pushback from guests” and that they seem to be welcoming the opportunity to be out again. Universal Pence asked Sprouse which measures are particularly effective and Sprouse shared that rather than a single process, it is all of the individual protocols coming together that are making the difference — including masks, distance markers, and more. He shared Universal brought on additional management staff as ambassadors throughout CityWalk to help guests however they needed. Universal CityWalk Spouse stated that Universal is planning to apply what they have learned from CityWalk’s reopening when it comes time for the parks and rides to open (specifically: sanitizer and managing pedestrian flow). He closed by reminding everyone that CityWalk is open to everyone — not just Floridians. Universal CityWalk A representative from Disney, George Kalogridis, spoke next. Kalogridis stated the great response Disney received when Shanghai Disneyland tickets went on sale — they sold out in minutes. During the first week, Shanghai Disneyland operated at 20% capacity, but will not exceed 30% for now. ©Disney Kalogridis stated Disney is thankful for the support of government programs and that the unemployment stimulus funds has been especially helpful to support their large work force. Today’s discussion coincided with the official reopening day of Disney Springs and Pence commended Disney for choosing to close back in March, referring to it as a ” tremendously admirable decision.” Disney Springs SeaWorld spoke third with representative Marc Swanson. He stated “what I like about the [theme park] industry is that there’s not a monopoly on safety.” He noted their desire to reopen, but “by the time we get approval, we’ll need a few more weeks to ramp up staff.” He continued stating they “would like to see that sometime in June,” and “if we can get approval and data keeps going in that direction, we’ll be ready.” Pence commended SeaWorld and the tourism and hospitality leaders for their “inspiring choices” by saying “everybody put safety first.” ©SeaWorld Governor DeSantis is hopeful that Florida can return to the 2.8% unemployment rate it held prior to the closures and is asking for feedback from people in their respective industries. He plans to consider major theme parks’ reopening plans and this process will begin tomorrow with Universal Orlando. You can read more about Universal’s reopening presentation here! Disney World’s theme parks and hotels still aren’t open but we spotted a very special reminder of them today at Disney Springs! Disney Springs And while Disney-owned locations at Disney Springs aren’t expected to reopen until May 27th, check out the little bit of Disney magic we saw today! That’s right — if we can’t have Mickey Mouse himself, at least we can have Mickey Balloons! We saw some Cast Members selling them as we’ve been out and about on the first day of Disney Springs’ phased reopening! And look! They’ve got Frozen Balloons too! Mickey Balloons at Disney Springs Today We spotted the pair of Cast Members selling their Mickey-shaped helium wares outside of Uniqlo today — just one of the many retailers that recently reopened today! One Cast Member was accepting payment from guests while the other Cast Member was handling the balloons! Follow along with our LIVE coverage from Disney Springs by clicking here! We’re at Disney Springs today as it reopens for the first time since it closed alongside the Disney parks back in March. Oh, look! Mickey balloons! Mickey Balloons at Disney Springs Today Though the Disney World parks remain closed, we’re getting to experience a taste of all of the new procedures in Disney Springs today. By now, you’ve probably realized a big piece of what that looks like is everybody is now wearing face masks! That’s because to be allowed inside Disney Springs right now ALL Guests and Cast Members at Disney Springs are required to wear masks for the entirety of their stay. Disney Springs Though Disney Springs’ guidelines explicitly stated guests ages three and up must bring their own face coverings to pass through the health screening, what happens if your elastic breaks or your face mask gets wet and you don’t have a back-up? Surely Disney Springs would have face masks for sale at several retail stores like we saw at Univeral Studios’ CityWalk, right? Disney Springs Actually, we looked around and couldn’t find face masks being sold anywhere — at least, initially. It’s possible Disney-owned stores will sell them, but Disney-operated businesses haven’t reopened yet since they’re waiting until May 27th. So your only option is third-party retailers which have reopened. (Do note that Disney does have a select number of disposable masks if needed.) That’s how we came up with the idea to duck into Vera Bradley! We had actually walked by the store earlier in the day before it opened at 11AM and noticed there was already a line out front. Were these folks hoping to find some Vera Bradley Face Masks inside? Vera Bradley Check out the complete list of retail locations that have reopened in Disney Springs here! Once inside, we asked an employee if Vera Bradley was selling face masks. Sure enough — THEY ARE! Vera Bradley Face Masks The associate (who was wearing a vibrant Vera Bradley Face Mask herself) held up a few options. They’re made of cotton fabric and are the kind that wrap around your ears with elastic bands. Vera Bradley Face Mask Vera Bradley Face Masks are individually-packaged and sell for $8 each! Plus they come in an array of beautiful colors and patterns. So far this is the ONLY spot we’ve found face masks for sale at Disney Springs, but we’ll let you know if we find anywhere else that’s selling them. And if you spotted them elsewhere, please let us know! Click here to follow along as we report LIVE from Disney Springs Are you surprised that Vera Bradley is the only store selling face masks? We’ve been making our way around Disney Springs for its re-opening today. The Boathouse Sign Disney-owned locations won’t be opening until May 27th, but third-party stores and restaurants opened today with new health and safety guidelines. So we’re heading to the dock for a bite to eat and a view of the lagoon! The Boathouse and The Boathouse Boatique have officially re-opened as of 11AM this morning. Along with the new health and safety measures being taken by Disney Springs, The Boathouse has previously stated that they will be taking “extra precautions to ensure the safety of our staff and customers.” Here is what we experienced while we were there. Check In When we first arrived to check in at The Boathouse there was already a line formed behind the host stand, and parties were spacing themselves apart without any markers on the ground. The Boathouse Disney Springs line The restaurant is limiting capacity to 25% in dining rooms. In order to dine there, guests can book their reservations in advance for guaranteed inside seating. Walk-ups will also be accepted for outdoor seating where the patio tables are spaced six feet apart. Seating Guests were required to be wearing masks at all times, unless you are seated at your table. The Boathouse The interior of The Boathouse looked similar to how we remember it, but they had taken away chairs from certain tables and placed black table cloths over them to denote guests were not to be seated here. The Boathouse Reopening Interior The Boathouse Reopening Interior Dining Room Inside The Boathouse The Boathouse Reopening Interior We were seated outside with a great view of the water. The Boathouse Outdoor Seating However, the outdoor bar was not in service. You are still able to order drinks to your table, though. The Boathouse Menu The Boathouse was using disposable paper menus, which isn’t much of a change-up for the restaurant. Before the closure, they used paper menus with the specific date printed at the top, but now they just aren’t passing menus to the next guest. MENU: paper menus (they have always had disposable menus with the date printed, but now they aren’t passing to next guest. So you can keep it as a historical souvenir. -clambake isnt on the menu Dated Paper Menu at The Boathouse Dated Paper Menu at The Boathouse That means you can take home your menu if you would like — our server referred to it as a “historical souvenir.” The menu was still extensive — especially for this being the first day back — but the Clambake was not available during our visit. Service Since this was our first time back at The Boathouse, you know we had to get a rubber duckie drink. You may know it by its proper name, the Duck Duck Razz. Duck Duck Razz We watched the little duckie bob up and down as our server carefully delivered him to the table. Our server was not wearing gloves, but she was careful to only touch the bottom of the glasses. Sever at The Boathouse She mentioned the staff was given training packets a week ago and were brought in yesterday for additional training. She said she has has worked in several restaurants and said this is the cleanest she has ever seen a restaurant — even before the closures. The food runners wore gloves to deliver our plates and noted they change out their gloves between each table. Sever at The Boathouse They also shared that the chefs are on 15 minute timers to remind them to stop, wash their hands and change gloves. The Boathouse Food Runner Our server cleared our plates for us once we had finished and she told us that the staff was given the choice to come back to work, so everyone there seemed excited to be back. Food Our drinks were served with regular glassware and the silverware was traditional flatware wrapped in a cloth napkin. The Boathouse Silverware The Boathouse Silverware The Boathouse Silverware We ordered a Jumbo Lump Crab Cake that was served with Coleslaw and Brandied Cocktail Sauce. The crab cake was delicious. It had more crab than breading, but it still had a great sear on the outside — adding a little extra crunch to every bite. The Brandied Cocktail Sauce made for a tangy, creamy addition as well. The Boathouse Disney Springs Jumbo Lump Crab Cake and Brandied Cocktail Sauce The Boathouse Disney Springs Jumbo Lump Crab Cake And you know we can’t resist some fries OR truffles (Don’t believe us? Find out just how many truffles we can pack into a meal here.), so we ordered Truffle Fries to snack on. Lil Rubber Duckie looked jealous in the background… . The Boathouse Disney Springs The Boathouse Truffle Fries The Boathouse Disney Springs The fries were another tasty, crispy addition to the Crab Cake. Our plates did not have an extra “handling plate” like we saw at Margaritaville in Universal’s CityWalk, but we appreciated the food runners using gloves and the plates were plenty big to prevent the runners’ hands from coming in contact with the food. Payment Once we were finished, our server brought us the check just like The Boathouse normally would pre-closure and we paid with a card. Margaritaville in CityWalk eliminated an extra trip to the server station by allowing guests to add a tip immediately when their checks were delivered. However, The Boathouse took the two trips we are used to seeing at restaurants — one check with your subtotal and another once your card has been processed. The Boathouse Boatique After we ate, we visited The Boathouse Boatique to see if they had any nautical masks to add to our stash, but they said they are not selling masks at this time. Amphicars The Amphicar Launch is scheduled to open today, but when we stopped by, there were not any guests using them. There were markers on the ground for guests to observe the cars — er, boats — er, amphicars. The Boathouse Amphicar Do Not Stand Markers The Boathouse Amphicar Do Not Stand Markers Overall Experience After our visit to The Boathouse, we thought that the new health and safety measures were well thought out and executed by the staff. Everyone we interacted with seemed happy to be back and were kind and attentive to guests. Although we felt like the servers were being careful and safe, we noticed The Boathouse’s approach was much less overt as Margaritaville in CityWalk. Margaritaville thoughtfully explained what was going on and how they were handing each item for our safety. The Boathouse was careful with distancing and sanitizing, but it felt like they were looking to maintain a similar guest experience to a pre-closure meal whenever possible. We’re taking you along with us today as we visit the newly reopened Disney Springs. Welcome Back to Disney Springs Disney released a new set of safety procedures prior to the reopening and we are here to find out how these new protocols impact guests’ dining experiences. Come along with us as we explore dining at Wine Bar George. Reservations Wine Bar George opened today, May 20th, at noon. We made a dining reservation shortly after Wine Bar George announced they were reopening, so there was a table waiting for us when we arrived. Wine Bar George Wine Bar George is checking in all guests with advance dining reservations digitally so once we arrived, we texted Wine Bar George to be seated. Walk-up guests were instructed to wait in line on special markers until the next available table was ready. Standing Outside of Wine Bar George We also noticed Wine Bar George is offering a full to-go food and beverage menu if you don’t feel like dining in. Wine Bar George Food To-Go A plexiglass shield has been installed on the hostess’ stand. Wine Bar George And hand sanitizer was left out for guests to use at the bar. Hand Sanitizer Once we were seated, our server provided us with a brown paper bag to store our masks in while we ate. We were also given some individually wrapped hand wipes. Wine Bar George As we looked around, we noticed the tables were all spaced out accordingly while we saw managers wiping down each table and chair after each set of guests left. Menu Wine Bar George announced before reopening that they would be using a contactless, digital menu — which requires guests to view menus on their own devices. You scan a QR code provided at your table and can view the menu on your own personal electronic device. Wine Bar George QR Code for Digital Menus Before visiting, we noticed the White and Dark Chocolate Trifle and Teriyaki Salmon Salad had been taken off the online menu, but there didn’t appear to be any additional menu cuts. We ordered the Saganaki on Fire and Burrata Cheese apps — two of our absolute Wine Bar George FAVORITES! Service Before the restaurant reopened, Wine Bar George announced some of the additional safety measures it would be following. These included ensuring all team members are certified in safe food handling, strict kitchen sanitation standards, requiring all team members to pass a health check before their shift, and strict handwashing policies. Wine Bar George The restaurant also said that all place settings, tables, chairs, utensils, and condiments in both dining areas and common areas will be sanitized after each use. We found this was most certainly the case with our dining experience today. Normal glassware is still in use with disposable straws… Glassware at Wine Bar George …and paper disposable napkins are being used with regular cutlery rolled up inside. Paper Napkin and Cutlery at Wine Bar George When our Burrata came to the table, our server was wearing gloves. After not seeing this small plate of wonderful cheesiness for some time, it was a sight for sore eyes. Service at Wine Bar George Read more about Wine Bar George’s Burrata HERE! And when our Saganaki on Fire showed up, the food runner who brought it to us was also wearing gloves. Look out for those flames! Saganaki on Fire Check out our FULL REVIEW of Wine Bar George’s Saganaki on Fire here! Normally the server squeezes a fresh slice of lemon over the top for us, causing the flames to grow even higher, but we were instructed to do our own lemon-squeezing. Saganaki on Fire Payment We noticed our server switched gloves before bringing us our check which he said is standard practice for them now. We asked him if he felt comfortable being back and he said yes — “they’ve had a lot of training and feel safe.” Today’s Lunch at Wine Bar George All of Wine Bar George employees were very welcoming, especially THIS Wine Bar George employee, George Miliotes himself! George Miliotes George told us he is very happy to be back! He also said it feels weird not being to smile at his guests but the master sommelier made it a point to tell us he is, IN FACT, smiling beneath his face mask. Overall Experience Overall, the restaurant felt clean, calm, and welcoming. The staff informed us that they felt well-trained and excited about being back. The entire process ran smoothly. Reservations for Wine Bar George are currently available on the My Disney Experience app starting the second week of June as well as available earlier on OpenTable. As of now, Orlando area theme parks such as Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando, and SeaWorld Orlando have not announced reopening dates. Florida Palms Universal Orlando’s CityWalk and Disney Springs have reopened certain retail and dining locations to guests, but neither company has shared a timeline for reopening the theme parks. Florida stepped into “full Phase One” of the state’s reopening plan this past Monday allowing restaurants, retail, museums, and libraries to increase capacity to 50%. In this phase, amusement parks are not cleared to open, but Florida Governor, Ron DeSantis, requested for theme parks to submit plans for reopening after they have been endorsed by local officials. Orlando This process begins tomorrow, May 21st, as the Orange County Economic Recovery Task Force plans to meet and listen to the theme parks’ presentations on how and when they plan to reopen. Florida The Mayor of Orange County, Jerry Demings, is required to sign off on these plans before they will be presented to Governor DeSantis. We will keep you updated as we learn more! We are in Disney Springs today for the reopening of Walt Disney World’s shopping and dining district. We are taking in all the experiences, which now include following new safety measures along with dining and shopping among the currently open restaurants and shops. Welcome Center at Disney Springs Along the way, we’re stopping at newly reopen table service restaurants like Wine Bar George, Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill, The BOATHOUSE, and more to see the new measures in action when it comes to dining. But Disney Springs is also well-known for all sorts of counter service options including grab-and-go spots. What’s it like to eat and drink around Disney Springs when you’re not doing so at a sit-down restaurant? We have visited both Joffrey’s Coffee & Tea and Starbucks in the Disney Springs Marketplace, and we stopped by the outside counter at Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill, among other locations. Wolfgang Puck Outdoor Counter Neither Joffrey’s Coffee & Tea or Starbucks offer indoor or have dedicated outdoor seating, and in all cases you queue up to order your food and drink. So, let’s do exactly that! Physical Distancing in Queues We are finding that Counter Service locations have easy-to-spot signage on the ground so you know where to stand to keep to the recommended physical distancing measure of 6 feet from other guests. Starbucks at Disney Springs Today At Joffrey’s, guest flow is directed by dedicated entrances and exits. And you may already be familiar with the line flow at Starbucks, which always had directional “ropes” since it’s always a busy spot, but they have been extended to allow for more space between guests. Placing and Getting Your Order As a reminder, all cast members — and guests — in Disney Springs are required to wear a face mask. Placing your order itself is otherwise the same, though cashless payment is encouraged. Starbucks at Disney Springs Today At Starbucks specifically, a barista presented each person their drink. Starbucks at Disney Springs Today This is opposed to having guests gather by the pickup window as was previously done. Alcohol in Disney Springs Both Joffrey’s and the Wolfgang Puck outdoor counter served beverages with alcohol before (and without, of course!), and continue to do so. At Wolfgang Puck, the outdoor drinks were all previously frozen beverages. However, a selection of cocktails is also available now. Outside at Wolfgang Puck You see, several table service restaurants also typically feature bar-only service. However, bars-only are not operating in this initial reopening phase. As such, Wolfgang Puck is providing a to-go option, with drinks made by a bartender inside. And Frontera Cocina is also serving drinks at their To-Go window. Frontera Cocina Drink To Go And, because the bars are not currently open, we found out you are even able to get a drink to go from The BOATHOUSE. As to where you can imbibe… . WHERE You Can Eat and Drink As it turns out, enjoying your grab-and-goes is a lot like it was before. We are still spotting tables and chairs placed outside nearby dining locations that do not have their own designated seating, and have not noticed any areas where they have been entirely removed. Welcome Back Drink at Starbucks And you CAN stroll with your goodies as usual. The biggest logistical question here is the wearing of face masks, which again, are required. And we were informed by several cast members that guests who have food and drink in hand may have their face coverings lowered while eating and drinking. These new measures at grab-and-go dining echo those in place all around Disney Springs, and you can read more about all the new measures in full by clicking here. We’re reporting to you live from Disney Springs at Walt Disney World Resort today for this first time since mid-March. Line Outside T-REX That’s because while the rest of Disney World’s theme parks and hotels will remain closed until further notice, some third-party restaurants and retailers have started reopening today. We’ve been busy sharing with you our own guest experiences such as parking at Disney Springs, having our temperatures taken, and seeing what some of the recently reopened retail stores have been like inside. Now want to share with you what it’s like to dine at Disney Springs right now. Do note that each location is doing things a little differently! As a reminder, masks can be removed when sitting and dining at a table service restaurant in Disney Springs. Table Service Restaurants in Disney Springs The Boathouse At 11AM, The Boathouse reopened today. We made our reservation over the phone and were given the option to dine inside or outside. Tables were noticeably spaced apart in the main dining room. Dining Room Inside The Boathouse The restaurant is also taking walk-up reservations for patio seating and their indoor dining room is limited to 25% capacity. We spotted this sign stating face masks must be worn at all times unless seated at a table. The Boathouse We sat outdoors where the guest tables had also been spaced apart more than usual. The Boathouse has been using paper menus for some time, but are no longer passing them between guests — our sever even suggested we keep ours as a free souvenir! Dated Paper Menu at The Boathouse The servers at The Boathouse were all wearing masks and gloves. Cutlery was rolled in a cloth napkin while drinks were served in normal glassware with paper straws. We ordered the Jumbo Lump Cake with a side of Truffle Fries. Food Runner at The Boathouse And the Duck, Duck Razz, of course! Duck Duck Razz Read our review of the martini that comes topped with a rubber duck here! Servers were cleaning their own tables in between guests. We asked our server what her experience has been like. She said the restaurant staff was given the choice if they wanted to come back right away, and she was ready to go and is excited to be back. Training packets were sent out a week ago and yesterday team members were brought in for training. The Boathouse Everyone is being asked to change out their gloves in between tables while cooks in the kitchen have a timer that goes off every 15 minutes reminding them to stop, wash hands, and change gloves. Click here to learn more about the safety procedures The BOATHOUSE has implemented! Frontera Cocina Frontera Cocina also opened at 11AM today while the staff came in earlier this week for safety training. The restaurant is doing food-to-go and currently accepting reservations. We booked our table in advance on OpenTable and once we arrived, we noticed a new hand sanitizing station for guests and employees at the front of the restaurant. Hand Sanitizing Station at Frontera Cocina Frontera Cocina is using both disposable paper menus and digital menus. There’s a QR code at each table that you can scan to view the menu on your smartphone or you may view a paper menu instead. Our server told us paper menus are being thrown out after each use. QR Code for Digital Menu Beverages were being served in normal glassware with single-use agave straws. Unlike The Boathouse’s servers, the food runners at Frontera Cocina weren’t wearing gloves. Frontera Cocina We ordered the Flautas and the Play with Fire Margarita. Our food was delicious as it always is at Frontera Cocina. Flautas and Margarita Frontera Cocina is also operating a to-go window where you can pick up eats or sips without the full sit-down experience. Frontera Cocina Drink To Go Things were a little different at Frontera Cocina, but the staff was still friendly and the fare was still delicious. Counter Service Restaurants in Disney Springs Starbucks We stopped by Starbucks early this morning and discovered they have a new specialty drink called “Welcome Back!” Welcome Back It’s a cold drink made from mango, dragonfruit refresher, coconut milk, strawberries, blackberries, and pineapple ginger syrup topped with golden ginger whipped cream! Instead of guests congregating around the order pick-up window, a friendly Starbucks employee retrieves your order and places it on a table for you to grab while you wait at a safe distance. Starbucks at Disney Springs Today Guests were also encouraged to socially distance themselves while waiting in line with some floor decals indicating where guests should stand. Starbucks at Disney Springs Today And while Starbucks was selling Reusable Cups today, they aren’t permitting guests to use them at this time. As for payment, they’re still accepting all forms, but we recommend downloading the Starbucks app as a touchless payment option! Check out our full experience (and our review of the Welcome Back drink!) HERE! Joffrey’s Coffee We also swung by Joffrey’s Coffee and Tea Company to see how they’re adapting. Joffrey’s Reopened There were social distancing markers on the ground to keep guests six feet apart from one another. At Joffrey’s, they fittingly use coffee bean stickers to denote where to stand. There were also designated entrances and exits to keep the flow of traffic moving a certain way. Joffrey’s Coffee Bean Distancing Markers We were able to confirm that you can walk around Springs with your coffee, you cannot, however, stay and drink your coffee inside of Joffrey’s. They ask that you remove your mask to take a sip or bite, and replace it between sips or bites. Joffrey’s Reopened Joffrey’s is still serving a full menu of coffee and donuts when you need a pick-me-up. Read more about what Joffrey’s is like now at Disney Springs here! As you can see, all the restaurants we visited have implemented different safety precautions with many following social distancing and sanitation practices. If you have any questions about our dining experiences, please let us know. Check out more details on temperature checks, capacity limits, and face masks which are now required at Disney Springs here! We’re here live for the official reopening of third party locations at Disney Springs. Disney Springs Many health and safety measures have been put into place, most of which are very new for Disney Springs employees and Cast Members. So, we thought we’d chat to a few Springs employees to see how their experiences have been on the first day of reopening. Dining Cast Members and Employees Of course, we’re checking in on all the dining locations in Disney Springs and we were curious to hear what the employees had to say about the reopenings. Frontera Cocina We grabbed a quick meal at Frontera Cocina today to see how they’re contending with new health protocols. Our server seemed to be in a really good mood. She told us that we should keep our one-use disposable menu as a historical souvenir. Ha! Maybe we will. Frontera Cocina Apparently, the staff came back a little bit early for new safety and health training. Even with the added health measures, the staff says they still want time at Frontera Cocina to feel like a fiesta! The BOATHOUSE Our experience at The BOATHOUSE brought us some tasty eats and showed us a lot about what the new health measures look like for this waterside restaurant. According to our server, training packets were sent out a week ago to staff and reopeners were brought in yesterday for some training. Sever at The Boathouse Our server also spoke pretty highly of the cleanliness at The BOATHOUSE. She said that, though she has worked in several restaurants, this one is the cleanest restaurant that she’s seen — even before the crisis. Some behind-the-scenes measures at this location include that runners are changing gloves between tables, and cooks and chefs are on a 15-minute timer where they have to stop what they’re doing to wash their hands and change their gloves. The Boathouse Food Runner At The BOATHOUSE, staff members were given the option of whether they wanted to come back immediately or not. In the case of our server, she was ready to go and is excited to be back at work. Wine Bar George We absolutely love Wine Bar George so we were happy to sit down at this dining location. The staff was delightful, as usual. Our seater let us know that he was having a hard time not pulling our chairs out for us since they aren’t supposed to touch the chairs when guests are there. Wine Bar George Master Sommelier George Miliotes was actually in attendance. Yes, he is the “George” in Wine Bar George. George told us that he is very happy to be back, but it feels weird that he can’t smile at guests with his mask on. Don’t worry, he assured us that he WAS smiling when he talked to us. George Miliotes Our server let us know that staff was reduced at the start of the closure, so the staff that was kept is made up of some of the strongest employees. The team received lots of training and they feel comfortable and safe. Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill Over at Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill, the new measures were similar. Our server explained that the team was called in on Monday for safety training and came in earlier today to rearrange tables for distancing. Wolfgang Puck Some behind-the-scenes measures here include hand sanitizer at every bussing station, pen sanitizing between use, and mandatory handwashing for all team members when they enter the kitchen. Guest Relations Cast Members We also spoke to some Guest Relations Cast Members about how Disney has been handling the reopening. Though the whole Guest Relations team is not called back just yet, a few of them are and they’re doing things a little differently. Guest Relations Cast Member Returning Guest Relations Cast had a 3-day training program that included courses on personal protective equipment (PPE), safety precautions, and how to seem friendly when communicating in a mask (AKA, just using your eyes and hands!). Welcome Center at Disney Springs As of now, the Welcome Center is open with limited capabilities but guests can not wait inside. Fuel Rods are available but since they are a high-touch item, the kiosk has to be wiped down frequently and after each use. Merchandise Cast Members and Employees We talked to some employees in merchandise locations for insight too! Folks at The BOATHOUSE Store told us that they are not selling face masks for now. Apparently, it was considered, but they didn’t want to be stuck with the inventory if masks stop being mandatory. The Boathouse Amphicar Do Not Stand Markers Over at Ron Jon Surf Shop, the General Manager was happy to relay some insight into their measures. The management team came in a week prior to opening to clean the store and set up for a return to business. Since then, they are instituting weekly calls with the team, supplying masks for team members that do not have one, and bringing employees in for new training. Ron Jon Surf Shop There are some of the insights from the employees and Cast Members who are getting Disney Springs running today. We will be updating this post throughout the day as we talk to more Cast Members and employees in Disney Springs! Keep checking back for updates. In the past couple of weeks, we have seen several industries gradually resume business operations with a focus on health and safety. NBA Experience at Disney World When it comes to professional sports, Disney World may play a key role in hosting the rest of the 2019-2020 NBA season. Sports Illustrated reported that — out of the several sites the NBA is considering — Disney World is the current frontrunner. We had previously reported on why Disney World could be a good fit for the NBA, and Disney Executive Chairman, Bob Iger, even weighed in on the NBA’s Board of Governors discussion in April. But now that the NBA is more seriously considering resuming the season — Disney World is still on the table as a viable option. Cast Members at NBA Store Ready to Shoot Some Hoops Disney World has the “campus-like” environment the League Commissioner, Adam Silver, states they are looking for. Players and staff could be housed in the resort hotels and players would have a reduced chance of contracting any illness on a more private property like Disney. And, of course, with the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex’s 12 courts and the capacity to broadcast the games, it could be a perfect fit. ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex Las Vegas is another city being strongly considered, but no decisions have been made at this time. Regardless of whichever site the NBA chooses, fans will not be allowed to attend games. With some teams resuming training as early as next week, we may start to see more developments soon, so we will keep you updated with the latest! Read more about how Disney World could be the perfect fit for the NBA here! What do you think about professional sports resuming their seasons without any fans in attendance? We here at DFB talk a lot about what the BEST food items are in Disney World. Sunshine Tree Terrace We have lots of favorites — some are classic and some are brand-new — but there are some Disney foods that are undeniably good. How? They’ve stood the test of time! We’re taking a look at some of the dishes in Disney that have been around since OPENING DAY of their park or restaurant. You KNOW how often menus change in Disney, so that’s quite a feat! Sonoma Goat Cheese Ravioli at California Grill First up, we’re taking a look at a classic dish from California Grill, the signature restaurant on the top floor of Disney’s Contemporary Resort. California Grill is always an experience thanks to the sweeping views of the Magic Kingdom and nearby resorts, and, if you’re there at the right time, the perfect view of the Happily Ever After fireworks show in Magic Kingdom. View from California Grill Like most of the signature restaurants in Disney World, California Grill has a rotating menu that changes based on market-inspired and seasonal ingredients and decisions from the chef. It’s also gone through several different executive chefs since 1995, so you can imagine that not many original menu items have stuck around. Sonoma Goat Cheese Ravioli at Disney’s California Grill — the best appetizer in the World! That is, except for the Sonoma Goat Cheese Ravioli. This appetizer was introduced on the first California Grill menu when the restaurant replaced Top of the World in 1995. It’s seen very minor adjustments over the years, but it’s still a single, large ravioli stuffed with goat cheese in a tomato broth topped with crispy mushrooms. The ravioli was a hit then and it remains a hit today. In fact, we consider it one of the best things we’ve ever eaten in Disney World! Click here to check out our latest review of California Grill! Cobb Salad at The Hollywood Brown Derby Cruising on over to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, we’re headed to a classic Disney World dining location — The Hollywood Brown Derby. This location is a replica of the famous Brown Derby restaurant in the real Hollywood, and it features the iconic Cobb Salad to boot! Cobb Salad For those who don’t know, the Cobb Salad was supposedly invented by (original) Brown Derby owner Robert Howard Cobb (there are actually a few versions of the story of the origination of the Cobb Salad!). In nearly all cases, the salad is comprised of finely chopped Greens, Turkey Breast, Bacon, Egg, Tomatoes, Crumbled Blue Cheese, Avocado, Chives, and Cobb Dressing (similar to French dressing). The dish has been a staple of the restaurant in Tinseltown just like it has been at the Disney World iteration. To truly represent the original restaurant, The Hollywood Brown Derby opened with Disney MGM Studios in 1989 with a Cobb Salad on the menu. Brown Derby Lounge And it’s still there to this day! Seriously, you gotta try this Cobb at least once. There’s a reason it’s lasted so long! Want to make a Cobb Salad at home? Click here for the recipe! Grapefruit Cake at The Hollywood Brown Derby The Cobb Salad isn’t the ONLY dish at The Hollywood Brown Derby that’s stood the test of time. Once you’re done feasting on your greens, you can wrap up your meal with the DELICIOUS Grapefruit Cake. Ever wondered how this treat came to be? Grapefruit Cake at Hollywood Brown Derby Rumor has it that famed Hollywood gossip columnist Louella Parsons told the REAL Brown Derby’s owner, Robert Howard Cobb, that all of his desserts were way too fattening and he should offer something healthier. Cobb’s response was to tell his chef to make a dessert that had grapefruit in it because, at the time, a grapefruit was popular around Hollywood for its “slimming abilities.” The grapefruit cake — with all it’s NOT so slimming cream cheese frosting — was born! Grapefruit Cake from The Hollywood Brown Derby at Disney’s Hollywood Studios Like the Cobb Salad, the Grapefruit Cake debuted on the menu when MGM Studios opened in 1989 and it remains the most popular dessert to this day. If you can’t get to Hollywood Studios soon, we recommend making one for yourself at home. This cake is THAT good. To check out our latest REVIEW of the Grapefruit Cake, click here! Citrus Swirl at Sunshine Tree Terrace You might think that the arguably MORE famous Dole Whip is the treat that’s been around from Disney World’s Magic Kingdom’s opening day, but it’s actually a different frozen and fruity delight! We’re talking ’bout that Citrus Swirl at Sunshine Tree Terrace! Citrus Swirl and Orange Bird cup So, why was the Citrus Swirl around on the opening day of Magic Kingdom? Well, it all comes back to some of the sponsorships of Adventureland at the time! Sunshine Tree Terrace (and The Enchanted Tiki Room [then called the Tropical Serenade], FYI) were both sponsored by the Florida Citrus Commission back in the ’70s. Disney ended up using OJ from Florida orange growers in the Orange Swirl and even created a mascot to go with the sponsored locations — the Orange Bird! This Little Orange Bird Has Quite a History! Now this special treat is a little bit different because it HAS disappeared from the menu a few times (once for a LONG time only to reappear in 2012!). Recently, Disney even tried to replace it with the VERY different Orange Swirl made with Orange Dole Whip, only to bring back the original. The OG Citrus Swirl is a combo of frozen orange juice and vanilla soft serve. Sunshine Tree Terrace It’s a really unique treat with the tangy real orange juice that we think every Disney World fan should try at least once! Now, you can get Orange Swirl OR the OG Citrus Swirl at Sunshine Tree Terrace (plus a bunch of other Dole Whip flavors!). So, despite some hiccups, Citrus Swirl has been delighting guests since Magic Kingdom opened in 1971. Click here to see what a Citrus Swirl FLOAT looks like! Safari Amber Beer in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Next up, we’re checking out a drink that’s been in Disney’s Animal Kingdom since it opened in 1998. The Safari Amber Beer was developed by Anheuser-Busch for the new theme park and it’s still available in restaurants around the park to this day! Safari Amber on Draft at Disney Animal Kingdom Lodge’s Sanaa at Kidani Village Recently, we’ve spotted it at Pizzafari, Flame Tree Barbecue, Harambe Market, Restaurantosaurus, The Smiling Crocodile, Tamu Tamu Refreshments, Yak & Yeti Quality Beverages, Yak & Yeti Restaurant and the Dawa Bar — it seems like it’s everywhere! You can also spot the Safari Amber at Epcot’s Refreshment Outpost and occasionally at dining locations around Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. If you’re a beer lover, you gotta try the Safari Amber at least once. After all, it’s EXCLUSIVELY available in Disney World! Want to check out more Disney beers? Click here to see the DFB Beer Crawl! Fish and Chips at Rose & Crown Dining Room We’re wrapping up our tour of iconic opening day foods with a visit to the United Kingdom Pavilion in Epcot! This was one of the original nine World Showcase pavilions that opened with Epcot in 1982 and Rose & Crown Pub and Dining Room has been around since the beginning! Rose & Crown Fish & Chips Of course, the most iconic item on the menu at Rose & Crown is the Fish and Chips — and they’re tasty too! The fish always has the CRUNCHIEST batter and the chips (fries, FYI!) are usually perfectly cooked — crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. This meal is super representative of UK culture and eats and we’re so glad it’s stuck around. Pro tip: If you’re looking to snag your Fish & Chips QUICK, you can buy a similar meal from Yorkshire County Fish Shop just next door to the Rose & Crown. Rose & Crown Fish & Chips Interior YES these Disney eats should be on your bucket list. After all, they’re practically historic! Any dishes and drinks that can stand the test of time quite like these goodies must have something pretty magical going for them! Click here to see our latest review of the Fish and Chips! Today, we’re LIVE at the reopening of Disney Springs in Disney World. Disney Springs We’ve already shown you a look into parking, temperature checks, and we have also reviewed the new “Welcome Back” drink at Starbucks! But now its time for us to hit a few Disney Springs shops! Disney announced many third party stores along with non-Disney owned restaurants would be permitted to reopen starting today, May 20th. We’re going to be stopping by each location to see how they each approached the new health and safety protocols, but we’ve got A LOT of ground to cover, so we’ll keep updating this post as we visit more stores! Disney Springs And remember — Disney-owned locations (such as World of Disney) will begin reopening May 27th, but for, now, here’s what’s happening at some the Disney Springs retailers! Basin We stopped by Basin bright and early this morning to see what was happening inside this store that sells luxury bath and body products! Basin This store sells tons of beautiful soaps, bath bombs, and all sorts of wonderful smelling-stuff! Even though we were wearing our face masks, we could still smell all the wonderful scents in the air! While you CAN still handle the product, Basin requests you keep your “touching of stuff” to a minimum. Basin Reopening We also discovered Basin has bundles of travel-sized hand sanitizer for sale — it’s their own Premium brand and includes essential oils to keep your hands from becoming too dry! $20 will buy you a three-pack! Hand Sanitizer at Basin You CAN still test the products and wash your hands inside of Basin (do note that there are portable handwashing stations outside)! The samples are applied using disposable wooden sinks, which you can rinse them off using a touchless faucet. Basin Reopening Read more about our experience at Basin today HERE! Social distancing for customers was also being encouraged while markers showed guests where to stand while waiting to checkout. Arribas Bros. Next, we stopped by Arribas Bros. to see what changes they are implementing. Arribas Bros. Overall, the store looked pretty normal with loads of sparkly glass sculptures and crystal ornaments everywhere we turned. Arribas Bros. We noticed a sign on the counter which provided additional safety information to guests. Cashless payments are not required but they are encouraged at this time. Arribas Bros. And Cast Members were on hand to answer any questions! So far, each shop we’ve visited has had a greeter stationed right at its front door! Arribas Bros. Signs on the counter also requested guests not to handle merchandise excessively. Additional items weren’t on display but you could request a Cast Member to show them to you. Arribas Bros. There were also some signs on the ground indicating where guests should stand while waiting in line to make a purchase. Arribas Bros. Ron Jon Surf Shop At Ron Jon Surf Shop, we were able to have a quick chat with one of the managers. He said the team came in about a week ago to start cleaning the store and set up to welcome back guests. At check out, employees are now wiping down touchscreens in between each guest. Ron Jon Surf Shop The team has also been having weekly calls to discuss the new procedures so that everyone would be ready to go once the store reopened. Everyone came in an hour early today to receive additional training while new signage had been put up and requesting guests to stay 6 feet apart while shopping. Ron Jon Signage Ron Jon is ONLY accepting cashless payments at this time. Ron Jon Surf Shop Not Accepting Cash Payments Free People We were too early to get in Free People, but we’ll circle back soon to check it out! Free People reopening today We did notice a sign on the door. Here’s what it said. Sign on Free People’s Door Free People has stated certain procedures and policies will be modified such as increased cleaning routines, masks required for all employees, reduced hours, social distancing reminders, limiting occupancy, and installing plexiglass guards at the cash registers. We’ll be back to check them out shortly. Volcom Again, we were a little too early for Volcom, but we did see an announcement posted on its door. Volcom The letter made us very interested to see what safety measures they’ve instituted. We’ll definitely be back after our dining reservations to check out their stuff. Volcom We’ve got some meals to run off to, but for now, check out everything you need to know about wearing face masks in Disney Springs! We will be updating this post with new information, so be sure to check back. And if you have ANY questions about shopping in Disney Springs, please let us know! We’ve been taking you around Disney Springs with us today to show you what the new procedures look like now that some of the stores and restaurants in Walt Disney World’s shopping and dining district have started to reopen. Disney Springs While we’ve seen many new safety measures being implemented throughout Disney Springs today, one of the biggest changes has been seeing everyone — from guests to Cast Members — wearing face coverings. We want to provide you with some additional information regarding face masks in Disney Springs as well as what our first-hand experience wearing them has been like! When Do You Have To Wear a Face Mask at Disney Springs Currently, Disney Springs requires all Cast Members and guests to wear face coverings. Required Measures sign Children under the age of three aren’t required to wear one, but everyone else is. Cast Member with required face mask You will not be permitted to enter Disney Springs without wearing a face mask and you must wear it for the duration of your stay with a few exceptions, which we’ll discuss below. Advent Health Cast Member at Temperature Screening It’s important to know that though there were a VERY limited number of disposable masks available at the temperature screening areas, these are given as a last resort, and there are NO guarantees that any will be available. New Protocols to Enter Disney Springs We learned that Cast Members have been provided with three washable, reusable masks. And they are also allowed to bring their own, provided they meet established criteria. Is Disney Selling Face Masks? We are in the midst of our day at Disney Springs, and — at press time — retail locations are only starting to open. However, at this point, we have not spotted any masks for sale. (We will be checking more locations and notifying you here if this changes throughout the day.) Free People reopening today That said, the only locations open during this initial phase are operated by third-party vendors. Select Disney-owned and operated locations will be opening one week from today on May 27th, including the World of Disney store. While we do not know if they will be selling face coverings, we will certainly be checking and reporting upon their reopening. When Can You Take Your Face Mask Off? You can take your face mask off when you are seated at a restaurant or when you need to eat or drink. Starbucks at Disney Springs Today Now, this is fairly clear-cut when you are at a counter service or table service restaurant where you will occupy a table. But what if you are, say, grabbing a beverage at Starbucks or Joffrey’s and plan to walk around with it? Starbucks at Disney Springs Today In speaking with several Cast Members, we were informed that — if you have food or drink in hand — you may keep your mask lowered while you eat or drink. Some Tips for Wearing Face Masks at Disney Springs Disney Springs isn’t the only venue where face masks are required. We have had previous experience wearing them upon the reopening of Universal Orlando’s CityWalk, and found that the actual wearing of the mask does take a bit of getting used to. Guest Relations Cast Member We recommend maybe taking a few walks outside with a mask prior to visiting. We’ve also found it helpful to have some form of lip balm handy if you find your lips get a bit dry. And while this may be a matter of preference and your experience may vary, we’ve found that — having tried both — the masks that tie behind the head stayed in place a bit better than the kind that go around the ears. Remember, required face coverings are only one of the many new safety measures being implemented at Disney Springs — you can read more about all the measures here. We will continue to keep you posted on our Disney Springs visit today, and hope you stay tuned with us! Do you have any questions about face masks at Disney Springs that we didn’t answer? If you haven’t heard, we’re at Disney Springs to see what’s changed as it reopens from its multi-month closure. Basin Reopening Almost 50 Disney Springs locations, restaurants and shops, opened with the complex today and we’ve been checking in with a bunch of our favorites. We’ve stopped by Frontera Cocina, The Boathouse, and more; but there’s one retail location that we’re particularly interested in stopping by. How exactly does a SOAP STORE focus on cleanliness? That’s right, we’re headed to Basin! Basin is a store in Disney Springs with a wide variety of bath and body products — namely, some really cool soaps. Prior to the closures, the name of the game here was touching all of the soap and body product samples. Have things changed now that there’s a focus on handwashing and refraining from touching things? Let’s see! Basin Reopening We were welcomed in by a masked greeter at the door who is there to control capacity. Like many Disney Springs locations, there are markers on the ground outside for when the store is full and guests need to distance in the queue. Basin Reopening Employee The store looks pretty much the same on the inside. Guests are asked to keep handling products to a minimum. Basin Reopening Distancing is also encouraged with guests asked to remain six feet away from other parties. Basin Reopening Still, you CAN handle the product! You can smell all of the bath bombs, soaps, etc. Basin Reopening The handwashing stations in the center of the store were clean and samples are still available. You will throw away the stick used for the product once you’re done with it. These sinks are touchless and napkins are available as well. Basin Reopening This station is another way to get in some of that regular handwashing when you’re not near the handwashing stations outside. Basin Reopening They did still have baskets out to help you carry your new product too. We couldn’t tell if they are sanitizing the handles between guests. Basin Reopening Speaking of sanitizing, Basin actually had a deal on a 3-pack of premium hand sanitizer. Basin Reopening You can snag the 3-pack for $20. Basin Reopening The check-out queue had some distancing stickers on the ground. As usual, it’s one party per sticker. Basin Reopening As you can see, all of the Basin employees had masks on too. Basin Reopening So, as you can see, Basin is still allowing guests to interact with the product as they did before the closure in the store and overall the location is still pretty hands-on. We’re checking in at a LOT more Disney Springs locations today, so keep following along at DFB for all the updates! We’re LIVE from the reopening of Disney Springs! Click here for updates! If you’re like us, your sleep schedule has probably gotten a little wacky being at home, so you’ve needed LOTS of coffee. Joffrey’s Reopened But, it just hasn’t been the same without that extra bit of Disney magic! Well, Disney Springs reopened with its third-party stores and restaurants today. While Disney-owned locations won’t be opening until next week, we’re taking you LIVE with us to see all the places re-open now! But, first, coffee!!! Disney World is home to lots of Joffrey’s Coffee locations throughout the parks in Epcot, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, and more. But, while the parks are closed, Disney Springs is still reopening its Joffrey’s locations. Joffrey’s Reopened One of the biggest questions we’re being asked is if guests are still able to walk around Disney Springs with food and coffee. So, we checked this out at the reopened Joffrey’s. Various Cast Members told us that YES, you can walk around with a beverage or snack! They ask that you remove your mask to take a sip or bite, and replace it between sips or bites. Joffrey’s Reopened Case When we arrived at the coffee shop, there were distancing markers on the ground to keep guests six feet apart from one another. At Joffrey’s, they fittingly use coffee bean stickers to denote where to stand. There were also designated entrances and exits to keep the flow of traffic moving a certain way. There were around 6 bean spots on the ground with one party per bean and you are not allowed to hang out inside the store to drink your coffee. We also noted that the Joffrey’s workers did ask people to stay on their bean before moving up in the ordering line. Joffrey’s Reopened Distancing Markers Face Coffee was back on the menu for guests to get that fabulous work of art (their lovely faces) on their lattes and cappuccinos. It’s one of the most entertaining things to do in Disney Springs during your visit if you happen to stop by Joffrey’s. Joffrey’s Reopened Printable Coffee Of course, we checked out the pastry case too which was stocked full of delicious-looking donuts, including a new one — just a basic donut with cookies and cream icing. New Donut After visiting, we noticed that the coffee spot had indeed reconfigured its retail and dining experiences to fit with the new health and safety guidelines Disney Springs has put in place. The experience didn’t feel too disruptive and the employees enforced the new procedures. We’re checking out a reopened Disney Springs ALL DAY today so stay tuned to follow along! Check out the rest of the restaurants re-opening in Disney Springs today here! What is your favorite drink to get at Joffrey’s Coffee? Let us know in the comments below!
