EPCOT is known for having incredible food and drinks, with all of the amazing restaurants and festival favorites. Spaceship Earth However, there is one EPCOT restaurant that has always been very controversial, and it is officially closed for refurbishment. Disney recently announced that the Coral Reef Restaurant in the Seas Pavilion would be closing for refurbishment. This is one of those restaurants where you either love it or hate it. The theming of this spot is undeniably incredible since you are dining in the Seas aquarium with fish and all sorts of sea creatures swimming next to the tables. However, some people feel as though the food does not live up to the hype or the theming. Coral Reef Restaurant Either way, this refurbishment started today, which means from now through November 4th this restaurant is unavailable. So while this closure is fairly brief, if you are visiting EPCOT in the next few months, it’s important to know that this spot will be closed. We have a confession to make: we LOVE cake. Okay, so maybe that’s not a big secret, given how many times we’ve been to The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers (hey, don’t judge us!). We’ve also spent a lot of time eating cake around Disney World, even when it’s in cupcake form. Tiffins in Animal Kingdom So when a new cake arrives in Disney World, we get excited, and we hope you do, too. That’s because a new cake slice has come to a popular restaurant in Disney’s Animal Kingdom…and we can’t WAIT to try it out. If you happen to book a reservation at Tiffins for anytime soon, you might notice a brand new item on the desserts menu…and it’s cake! You can now order The Chocolate Travel Cake for $14. This cake is a chocolate-olive oil cake with fig-apricot jam, milk chocolate mousse, pistachio praline, yogurt kulfi, chocolate sauce, and basil sugar. It looks DELICIOUS. ©Disney Of course, if you’re going to make a reservation for Tiffins, you might as well go all in on a full meal. Looking for suggestions? Well, we always recommend getting the Tiffins Signature Bread Service (y’all know we love a good bread service). Bread Service For an entree, we recommend the Butter Chicken, which is everything you want this dish to be: you’ve got tender chicken in a smooth, creamy sauce with warm spices. Butter Chicken Honestly, though, you can’t go wrong with pretty much anything you order here, and it’s a nice way to take a break in Disney’s Animal Kingdom in the middle of a long, hot park day. If there’s a new snack in Disney World, you KNOW we’re eager to try it, especially if it looks like it’s going to be absolutely delicious! Disney Springs! Over the years, Vivoli il Gelato in Disney Springs has put out some absolute bangers — gelato-stuffed doughnuts, amazing coffee treats, and just some genuinely good scoops. But now, we’re heading back to this beloved spot to snag a new treat…the Chocolate Crunch Croissant! Say hello to the Chocolate Crunch Croissant for $9. We snagged the pistachio version, but there’s also an almond flavor. It’s a pretty treat, but is it all style, no substance? The pistachio version! The croissant itself was alright to us. It lacks crunch and flaky layers that you would expect from a truly good pastry. Overall, it feels like two treats combined, but kept on different halves. The side with the chocolate crunch is super rich, with smooth dark chocolate and crunchy pistachios, but there’s nothing inside this side of the croissant! Hey, beautiful! The other side has the pistachio filling, which was creamy and nutty and delightful, but there was no exterior coating. Of the two sides, we preferred the side that was covered in chocolate, but the flavors overall didn’t meld together super well because there was no blending of the elements. There was a sharp difference in taste between the two sides of the croissant. The chocolate side Both sides were delicious, and this would be delightful to have with a cup of coffee, but it’s maybe not the best croissant you can get in Disney World, and we would love to have a more harmonious version. The vision was there, but the execution was off on our particular order. (Perhaps others aren’t quite as stark — maybe we got a strange one?) Ready to set sail on an adventure? Disney Cruise Line Recently, Disney Cruise Line released new itineraries for fall 2026 and spring 2028, which included a return to sailings to and from New York City. Well, if you’ve been wanting to book one of those itineraries, you can do so as of today! That’s right, if you’re looking to take a Disney Cruise during fall 2027 through spring 2028, you can now book that cruise. That includes sailings on the Disney Wish from New York City beginning in September 2027, with four- to seven-nightsailings along the East Coast during fall foliage season and to Bermuda. Disney Wish at Castaway Cay More itineraries for fall 2027 and spring 2028 are also available, including ports in Puerto Rico, Panama, California, Texas, and Florida. You’ll be able to cruise to destinations like Mexico, the Caribbean, and the Bahamas, as well as to Disney’s island destinations, Lookout Cay and Castaway Cay. Lookout Cay Select Castaway Club members have been able to book these cruises since late August, but today is when bookings have opened to the general public. Note that some of the cruises available even include Halloween on the High Seas and Very Merrytime special cruises for the holiday seasons. Mickey and Minnie on the Disney Dream for a Very Merrytime cruise! You’ll also be able to book itineraries on Disney’s newest ship, the Disney Adventure, that will begin offering sailings from Singapore to Malaysia. On board the Disney Adventure Disney Cruise Line is also adding a new ship to its fleet in late 2027, the Disney Believe, which will have Tinker Bell on the bow, Woody and Buzz on the stern, and a Moana statue in the grand hall. Disney hasn’t dropped many details about the Believe yet, but we’ll be keeping an eye out for updates. ©Disney So go ahead and start planning those cruises for next year and get them booked. We know it’s the fall season, and while we still have a long time to go until the holidays (or so it feels), EPCOT is already preparing, and we’re totally here for it. 2024 EPCOT Festival of the Holidays EPCOT has just released a small list of some of the food items AND booths returning to this year’s Festival of the Holidays! It’s not much yet, but since we’re still many months away, we’ll take it. The best part? Some of these are favorites, and we’ve got a feeling you’ll be thrilled they’re returning. On the Holiday Kitchens page of the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays section of the website, Disney has listed FOUR booths returning, as well as a returning item from each one! The items listed to be available at this year’s festival are: Seasonal Shakes from Experimental Prototype Cookies of Tomorrow Gingerbread Milk Shake from Experimental Prototype Cookies of Tomorrow Creamy Eggnog from Chestnuts & Good Cheer Holiday Kitchen Eggnog from Chestnuts & Good Cheer Turkey Poutine from La Poutinerie Turkey Poutine from Refreshment Port (now La Poutinerie) Macarons from Le Marché de Noël Holiday Kitchen Macaron de Noël from Le Marché de Noël Holiday Kitchen While Disney hasn’t specifically revealed the flavors of the milkshake or the macaron, we’re thrilled that the Turkey Poutine and Eggnog are coming back. It’s also important to note that the photo used on the website isn’t any of those four offerings, and it looks similar to a version of the Moroccan Wrap with Falafel we’ve seen at previous festivals. We love the EPCOT Festival of the Holidays! We love the cookies, the lights, the entertainment- well, gosh, I think we love everything about it. Well, one thing we don’t love is the crowds. Candlelight Processional! With the festival only running from November 27th to December 30th, it’s one of the shortest festivals, and that means it can be one of the busiest, especially once you factor in that the holidays are the busiest time at Disney World. While you can’t avoid all crowds, you can avoid some, and one way to bypass the big ones is to book a dining package. Candlelight Processional is one of the most popular parts of the festival, where a celebrity narrator takes the stage with a 51-piece orchestra and choir to tell the story of Christmas. While there are three shows a night, it feels like there’s always a massive line to get seats. It’s a beautiful show! If you grab a Candlelight Processional Dining Package, you get guaranteed seating plus an included meal. Now, that doesn’t sound bad! You even get seating in the front half of the theater, so you’ll be even closer to your favorite narrators. Can you believe that the new Disney World restaurant, Six Ravens, has already been open for a month? Six Ravens The new restaurant is owned by the people who own Gideon’s Bakehouse; only this place serves up hand pies. It’s been a popular spot since its opening, but it looks like it’s about to get even MORE popular. Why? Because Six Ravens now has local beers on tap! You can visit Six Ravens right now and get a local beer straight from the tap. Each of the beers that are served at Six Ravens is brand-new to the location. Six Ravens posted an announcement about the beers online. ©Six Ravens The main item you can get here is the Coffyns, which are handheld yeast rolls stuffed with different fillings. We can already imagine how good a pairing the beer on tap will be with a Coffyn. There’s a bunch that you can grab here, and each one of them has unique flavors. Six Ravens The theme of the restaurant is that the King and his crew have finished their six trials, which has gained them an audience with The Six. You can see The Six inside the restaurant, but they’re carved into ancient stone and may hold some “otherworld capacities.” So many details If you haven’t been to Six Ravens at Disney Springs yet, we seriously recommend it. If you’re going to Disney World, you need to know what’s closed BEFORE your vacation! Sunset Boulevard It’s not uncommon to see rides, restaurants, pools, transportation, or shops close for refurbishment and updates throughout the year. Thankfully, Disney World typically includes the closure information for these offerings on the website so you can know what will be unavailable during your trip. We follow these updates closely to let our readers know what to expect, and now it looks like there’s a reopening on the horizon! Vacation Fun at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is a short film in the Mickey Shorts Theater that closed temporarily back in April. It has been closed for months since, but more recently has been used as a place where Annual Passholders can pick up their Kermit the Frog magnets. Vacation Fun Disney didn’t share a reopening date when the closure started, simply noting that the theater would reopen “later this year.” But now, Vacation Fun is showing hours starting on September 27th. Though it hasn’t been publicly announced, this likely means the show will reopen on that date. Vacation Fun The interesting thing about this closure is that the show also just had a closure in 2025, reopening right at the end of December before closing down again in April. The space hosted a May the 4th (Star Wars Day) offering during this current closure before it was used as a magnet distribution spot. Could we see it used as a space for special events more in the future? It has been used as a wristband distribution location for Jollywood Nights in the past. Mickey Shorts Theater Vacation Fun is a 10-minute short film that features Mickey and Minnie getting ready to go on a vacation. The show highlights clips from the Mickey Mouse cartoon shorts on Disney+, giving you a glimpse of all the places Mickey and Minnie have traveled in the past. It’s a great way to take a little break in the air conditioning and sit in a comfy seat for a few minutes. Plus, the exit area of the theater has some very fun photo ops! However, the latest Star Wars film could find a new, larger audience when it debuts on Disney+ – – the original home of the titular characters – – on September 2nd. ©Disney Kraven the Hunter Speaking of theatrical bombs, the Sony-produced Kraven film is set to debut on Disney+ on September 13th. While the film, based on one of Spider-Man’s oldest villains, was far from a critical favorite, the unprecedented interest in Spider-Man: Brand New Day could make the film appealing to those looking to further scratch their Spidey itch. ©Sony Project Runway Season 22 Finale The 22nd season of the iconic Project Runway has been debuting on Disney+ just after airing on Freeform throughout its run, and the season finale will be no different. Hollywood Studios has already had a big year thanks to the opening of the Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, the addition of the Mandalorian and Grogu to Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, and the announcement that Monstropolis will open in 2027. Yet with all of that, with all that, even MORE is coming on September 14th! The Magic of Disney Animation in Walt Disney Studios On that day, the Magic of Disney Animation — a new take on an opening day MGM Studios experience — will debut in the park’s new Walt Disney Studios area. The area is replacing Star Wars Launch Bay (which is a bit of theme park inception, since the Launch Bay replaced the original Magic of Disney Animation over a decade ago). This updated version will feature four distinct areas for guests to explore. ©Disney Olaf Draws The Magic of Disney Animation will host Olaf Draws, a class where YOU can learn how to draw iconic Disney animated characters! These classes will be led by Olaf himself with the help of some legendary Disney Animation artists who will help bring the class to life. Olaf will be a brand-new Audio-Animatronic figure as he welcomes people into a new space, inspired by one of his most memorable moments from Once Upon A Studio, sitting at an animator’s desk, joyfully discovering the art of drawing. Josh Gad, the voice of Olaf, returned to record original dialogue for the experience. “I’m so thrilled that a whole new generation of kids can dream of becoming animators one day and can actually begin their journey right there on the studio lot,” Gad shared. “Olaf Draws” Concept Art ©Disney In Olaf Draws, each class features a different character, so you can return again and again! Frozen fans, you’ll want to hear this exciting news! Several months ago, the all-new World of Frozen officially opened in Disneyland Paris. Welcome to World of Frozen in Disney Adventure World! This new land is absolutely stunning, and this year’s Christmas festivities are coming to Arendelle! From November 7th through January 6th, the Disney Enchanted Christmas festivities are starting in Disneyland Paris, and this year the celebrations are coming to World of Frozen. If you’re going to Disney World, you absolutely NEED to download the My Disney Experience app. Magic Kingdom This app is your lifeline in the parks, showcasing everything from attraction wait times to showtimes for shows to maps to help you navigate the parks and resorts. You can use it to Mobile Order food or make dining reservations…there are so many ways it’ll be useful during your trip. But right now, it’s having a bit of an issue! One of the most helpful features in the My Disney Experience app is the search function. Here, you can search for offerings all around Disney World — characters, shops, dining locations, rides, shows, and more. It’s incredibly useful for finding things without having to dig through the many tabs of the map page. ©Disney Unfortunately, our team discovered a glitch today…the search function isn’t working! Several different people on our team had this problem on the morning of Tuesday, September 8th, where we couldn’t get any results to come up, no matter what we searched. UPDATE: As of the afternoon, the search function appears to be working again. No significant changes have been applied yet. ©Disney Now, this could be related to Disney changing the search function overall. We reported earlier this year that Disney would be making changes to the app in a variety of ways, including a new AI-powered search feature. This will make it easier to search full questions instead of just locations or attractions. ©Disney Up until now, you’ve only been able to search keywords. The “full question search” model will likely be more streamlined for folks who haven’t been to Disney World before and aren’t familiar with terminology and official names. We love Disney theme parks, but you can get Disney magic without traveling to California or Florida. We’re always watching Disney movies in theaters and on Disney+, but you can also catch musicals based on your favorite movies when they travel to a nearby city. ©Disney Disney has musicals that travel and have residencies on Broadway, and this musical just made a first-ever casting decision, and we’re obsessed. Disney’s Aladdin has been on the New York City stage for 12 years, and for the first time, a woman will play the iconic Genie role when the show debuts a new cast member in October. Say hi to Sherri Shepherd, who you might know from The View. She is the first woman to play Genie on Broadway and in any of the 11 Disney-produced stage adaptations of Aladdin worldwide. In a press statement, Shepherd said, “Joining Aladdin on Broadway is an absolute dream come true — and an incredible honor. The Genie is such an iconic character, and I’m beyond excited to bring my own energy, humor, heart, and a little bit more magic to the role.” ©Disney She also said that she hopes “audiences see themselves in this Genie and leave the theater feeling so much joy and inspired to believe in the impossible.” Shepherd says she is not taking this role lightly, as it is her history-making turn as the first woman to play Genie. ©Disney “I’m ready to rub the lamp, unleash some magic, and have the time of my life on Broadway.” Previous Genie actors include Major Attaway, Michael James Scott, and Caleb A. Barnett. James Monroe Iglehart, who originated the part on the New York City stage, even won a Tony for the role in 2014. ©Disney Shepherd is taking on the role on October 16th and will continue through January 3rd at the New Amsterdam Theater. Disney Springs is home to some of our favorite spots to grab dessert in all of Disney World, partly because there are just so many choices! Who’s ready for some cake? Sometimes, we find the most interesting desserts where we least expect them, like GIANT slices of cake over at table service restaurants. We headed over to The BOATHOUSE to try out their new cake slice that follows a big trend right now — this is a dot cake like you’ve never seen before! A slice of the Dot Cake at The BOATHOUSE will cost you $26.50, and YES, that’s a lot of money to pay for cake, but when you see the size of this thing, we think you’ll understand. This is Citrus Cream Cake, White Chocolate Mascarpone, White Chocolate Ganache, and Vanilla Ice Cream, which we were very excited to try. Though, since we did get ours to go, we didn’t get ice cream with ours. Dot Cake Is this cake worth the price, though? Well, it WAS delicious; we’ll start with that. It was surprisingly citrusy, with the taste of orange especially coming through, and we really enjoyed that. The cake itself was very moist and dense, and while the cake’s outside wasn’t covered in dot sprinkles like the viral dot cakes are, they were poured on top and added a nice crunch. The cake overall wasn’t as sweet as we thought it would be, even with the white chocolate, which was a big win, because it was still rich in flavor. Look at that! Now, we do think the price makes it hard to justify getting it again, but if we were splitting it with some friends, we’d consider it, because it truthfully is VERY easy to share, and that would bring the price down per person as well. Disney World just announced the Celebrity Narrators for the Candlelight Processional for the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays! The festival runs from November 27th to December 30th, and while it’s one of the shorter festivals, it turns EPCOT into a total winter wonderland with great food, entertainment, and TONS of cookies. EPCOT Candlelight Processional This might be one of the best lineups we have ever seen, and not to be dramatic, but it includes Jason Kelce — it’s definitely going to be the most popular of the season. Each narrator brings their own unique touch as they tell the story of Christmas with tons of great songs. It’s truly magical and is a staple of our holiday trip to EPCOT. Candlelight Processional Performances are held nightly at 4:45 PM, 6:30 PM, and 8 PM at the America Gardens Theatre. It can get super busy, especially for more popular narrators, so we recommend grabbing a dining package for guaranteed seating. Dining packages aren’t open just yet, but you’ll be able ot start booking on October 14th. MCO TSA PreCheck Well, TSA is rolling out a new program that could completely change airport travel, so let’s dive into everything you need to know! TSA PreCheck is officially introducing a new program called Gateside, where registered members can go beyond security even if they aren’t traveling! This means that friends or family who are not traveling with you can go past security if they are registered for the program. ©TSA TSA has shared, “This new program makes it easier to return to the gate for welcomes and send-offs, meet friends during a layover, and enjoy dining and shopping along the way, bringing back the moments that once defined air travel.” This program is free to use; all you need to do is apply on the TSA website, and if you are approved, you can use the TSA PreCheck security lane and head into the rest of the airport even if you don’t have a flight booked. EPCOT’s Food & Wine Festival kicked off at the end of August, and we were there to try all of the booths and offerings, old and new. However, just because opening day has passed doesn’t mean we’ve seen everything EPCOT’s premier annual event has to offer, as there’s still MORE to come. The EPCOT Food and Wine Festival September 9th will see the debut of another booth at the festival. However, this isn’t just any Food & Wine Festival booth; it’s this year’s version of Festival Favorites! Located at CommuniCore Hall, the Food & Wine Festival’s Festival Favorites booth will offer classic fan-favorite dishes and drinks from past EPCOT Festivals. So, what will be available this year?
