  3. I will never forget walking into Tomorrowland and seeing an empty spot where Astro Orbiter used to be in Magic Kingdom. Well, maybe it wasn’t what I saw, but what I didn’t see, and that was the ENTIRE attraction. During a recent refurbishment of the spinning ride, they removed the entire thing from the top of the PeopleMover before returning it to its normal spot. It was weird. Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland Well, another refurbishment has been announced for Astro Orbiter, but luckily, this closure is much shorter than last time. Astro Orbiter will be closed from January 5th to 7th next year and will reopen on January 8th. Only three days this year! Thank goodness! In 2025, it was a six month refurbishment, so this is much smaller. Astro Orbiter Planned refurbishments are very common across Disney World attractions, and from most popular attractions to ones that never have a wait, they all need a little love every now and again to keep them running smoothly. Since the 2025 refurbishment was so long and thorough, we’re a little surprised it’s also going for another fix, but at least it’s only a few days. The ride originally opened in 1994 when Tomorrowland was going through an overhaul. When it was totally missing In Magic Kingdom, it feels like Tomorrowland is going through another overhaul. TRON Lightcycle / Run opened in 2023, and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin went through an 8-month refurbishment which started in August 2025. It reopened in April this year with new blasters, ride vehicles, and targets. Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin is BACK! The Carousel of Progress is now going under a major overhaul and is set to reopen in Spring 2027. They’re changing up all the scenes to new decades, and while fans were originally nervous about the changes, many have been speaking out about how excited they are for the update. Disney Imagineering has taken great care with the ride’s history, and we’re thrilled to see the new changes. ©Disney Now, if you’re in a total mood for spinning rides (which we understand), there are two more that you can check out while in Magic Kingdom. Dumbo the Flying Elephant is one of the most iconic and perfect for your child’s first ride and the best photos. The Magic Carpets of Aladdin is another classic, and you can even catch Aladdin and Jasmine riding sometimes, which feels very magical. Pluto taking a ride on Dumbo In the meantime, keep following Disney Food Blog for more Disney news, plus tips and tricks for the best vacation ever. 4. If you’re going to go through ALL the effort to get up early during your Disney World trip, you better do it RIGHT! Hollywood Boulevard at Hollywood Studios Hitting the parks early can make a huge difference in the success of your day, but if you’re going to take advantage of perks like Early Theme Park Entry, you need a legitimate strategy. And as part of our go-to strategy, there’s one rule that we enforce for our Early Entry mornings! Early Theme Park Entry is a perk available to guests of Disney Resorts that allows you to enter the parks 30 minutes earlier than off-site guests. It applies to all four theme parks every day, and that head start for some of the rides and attractions can be a huge benefit. You’ve just got to use your time wisely! Cinderella Castle If you want to do Early Theme Park Entry during your visit, it’s imperative that you check the list of attractions available during that time for each park. For example, at Magic Kingdom, only Tomorrowland and Fantasyland are open for early entry, so if you tried to go to Haunted Mansion at 8:30 AM (on a day that the park opens at 9 AM), you wouldn’t be able to get in line or ride. Once you check the list of available rides, choose where you’re going first AHEAD of time. You don’t want to be locked into decision paralysis when you’re already inside the park. Early Park Entry for Resort Guests The good news is that most folks are pretty good at that first part. They have a ride they want to prioritize and plan to visit it first thing when Early Theme Park Entry starts. Unfortunately, the decision paralysis often comes into play if you get through that initial attraction quickly and don’t know where to go next. We call this the 8:45 AM problem. Fantasyland in Magic Kingdom Most of the year, three out of four of the Disney World parks open at 9 AM, which means Early Theme Park Entry starts at 8:30 AM. If you’re hoping to make the most of that time, you probably arrived well before 8:30, and then when Early Entry started, you were off to the races right away. That’ll put you in the first few batches of folks on your chosen ride, but THEN what?! Early Theme Park Entry We’ve seen it happen time and time again that Early Theme Park Entry goes smoothly at first, and then around 8:45 AM, there are families and groups who’ve already completed their first choice and are hovering around trying to decide where to go next. But you’re wasting precious time if you’re putting yourself in this position! If you wait too long, the off-property guests will be let inside the park, and you’ll lose the edge for getting into ride queues first. Early Entry into Disney’s Hollywood Studios So, the solution here is to have an initial ride that you want to do for each park, likely the ride on your to-do list with the longest projected wait time (or one you don’t have a Lightning Lane booked for), and then ALSO choose a second ride to head to once you finish the first. Even if you get in line for that second ride five minutes before the park opens for the day, that could make a massive difference in your wait time. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets When looking at this strategy, it’s a good idea to choose rides that are physically near each other, so you don’t waste time walking. For example, this could mean rope dropping Slinky Dog Dash in Hollywood Studios and then walking next door to Galaxy’s Edge to do Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. Or this could look like knocking out Seven Dwarfs Mine Train in Magic Kingdom and then heading for Peter Pan’s Flight. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train But here’s the thing — if you hesitate, you could ruin this strategy completely. My family squandered our time a bit when we found out that Slinky Dog Dash was closed during our Early Theme Park Entry time in Hollywood Studios. We panicked and rode Alien Swirling Saucers instead and then wasted more minutes deciding what to do before heading to Smugglers Run. By the time we got there, the park was about to open, and the wait was up to 45 minutes, because the queue was full of three groups of folks: 1) those who chose to rope drop that ride, 2) those who’d rope dropped Rise of the Resistance and headed there second, and 3) those who’d seen Slinky Dog Dash was closed and chose the closest “big” ride nearby instead. We skipped out on riding, and by the time the park opened, the only thing we had to show for our waking up early was a ride on Alien Swirling Saucers. Alien Swirling Saucers When developing your early entry strategy, come up with a main (hopeful) plan, along with a backup plan or two. You never know when a ride might have a delayed opening or a weather-related closure. And if things go wrong, you can quickly pivot and use your backup plan. Don’t get stuck with the 8:45 AM conundrum! EPCOT To see more rules we follow in Disney World to help make your trip better, check out the YouTube video below. 5. Even entering the holiday season doesn’t prevent closures at Disney World! All-Star Music Disney recently announced that a closure would be coming to a popular bar at Disney’s All-Star Music Resort. With no official end date in sight, this could end up being a lengthy closure. Let’s take a look at the details that we know so far, so we can plan accordingly. Disney announced that from November 2nd, 2026, through early 2027, Singing Spirits Pool Bar at Disney’s All-Star Music Resort will be closed for refurbishment. Disney hasn’t shared a specific opening date, and we can’t look for it ourselves, as the Disney World calendar doesn’t go past December 2026 right now. Singing Spirits During this time of closure, Disney did share that a temporary pool bar will be available nearby. So, guests can still sit by the pool with a drink in hand and relax in the sun. Disney hasn’t posted any details on the temporary bar as of right now, but we could be seeing something when the closure date hits next week. Singing Spirits Pool Bar If you’re traveling to Disney World this holiday season, and you’re staying at Disney’s All-Star Music Resort, you may see or hear construction activity in the area during daytime hours while the work is underway. Disney’s usually good at not being too much of a disturbance to guests, but they still will be working. Just something to be aware of. We love this bar! It’s been a year of construction for Disney World, so this is a fitting end to 2026. From hotels to the parks, we’ve been seeing closures, reopenings, and transformations throughout the year. With massive projects like Monstropolis in Hollywood Studios, Tropical Americas in Animal Kingdom, and Piston Peak and Villains Land in Magic Kingdom still being worked on, the construction trend will continue next year. Although we’re super excited for everything that’s on the way! 6. When I went to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party for the first time, I felt like I would never get everything done. From trying to get a spot for the fireworks, the parade, and that castle show, I can’t forget meeting characters and special snacks, and ahhhhh, it was so much! There’s a lot to do during the party, and if you don’t plan ahead, you might miss something you were really looking forward to. Once Upon a Christmastime Parade One way to plan ahead of time is to know all the available showtimes so you know what to prioritize and where to head first. Disney World just announced the showtimes for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, and here’s everything you need to know! Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party runs on select nights from November 8th to December 22nd at Magic Kingdom and will require an additional ticket to enter. The ticket gets you access to exclusive entertainment, characters, and food! Nights are already selling out, so if you have your eye on a certain date, grab your tickets soon. Here’s a look at all the showtimes: Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party This parade is a fan favorite and where you’ll see some of the most iconic characters of the party. You’ll see the Toy Soldiers and plenty of Disney characters along the route. Of course, Santa is also part of it, and it lasts about 25 minutes. You can catch it in a few different places in the park, including by Frontierland, which typically has fewer crowds, and closer to the castle and Main Street, U.S.A. It will run at 8:30 PM and 11 PM. Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration This stage show is right in front of the castle! You’ll get to see Mickey and all the friends in their Christmas outfits. There’s some super fun music, and Clarabelle Cow sings “All I Want for Christmas Is You” by Mariah Carey, which is pretty iconic if you ask us. You can watch it at 7:40 PM, 9:25 PM, 10:35 PM, and 11:55 PM. You’ll want to be toward the front of the castle to see everything. Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party This fireworks show plays only once a night at 10 PM, so you don’t want to miss it! We think the best place to watch is in front of the castle so you can see all the projections and the fireworks above it, but you can also catch it from other locations like Fantasyland and Tomorrowland; just keep in mind you probably won’t see everything. Fireworks To catch everything, make sure you’re still prioritizing. Maybe you want to watch the fireworks in front of the castle but the parade from Frontierland so you don’t have to line up as early. There are also multiple showtimes for the castle stage show and parade, but only one for the fireworks. You can see them all, but you might not have as much time for snacks, character meet-and-greets, and rides. We’re going to be at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party for the very first night of 2026, sharing all the details you need to know to have the best visit ever and to make the most of your park ticket. 9. There might be nothing more annoying than showing up to your theme park for the day and then realizing you didn’t check the park hours, and now you’re staring at a gate and will be there for the next hour. While getting there early is certainly better than getting there late, it’s still annoying to realize you got up early for nothing! Tree of Life That’s why we’re here. Park hours are pretty consistent at Disney World depending on the time of year, but sometimes we’re totally thrown off by a random change. Whether EPCOT opens late for runDisney events or Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom close early for Jollywood Nights and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, another park can be thrown into the mix with different hours. Animal Kingdom will open late on Sunday, November 15th, and it will open at 9 AM instead of 8 AM. Early Entry will start at 8:30 AM and run until 9 AM instead of the usual 7:30 AM to 8:00 AM. The park will close at 8 PM, which is later than usual! KEVIN! It’s a good idea to check the times for all of your theme park days, but we highly recommend it during the holiday season. Jollywood Nights and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party run on select nights throughout November and December. Hollywood Studios will close to day guests at 7 PM on those days, and Magic Kingdom closes at 6 PM. Guests with the tickets can enter the parks at 5:30 PM and 6 PM, respectively, and we find that’s when the parks get busy. The line at Jollywood Nights! You don’t necessarily need to avoid the parks when they close early, since those parks usually have low wait times because many guests choose another park. If you have a Park Hopper ticket, which lets you switch from one park to the next whenever you want, you can take advantage of the low crowds before heading to another park. It’s also great for an evening at the hotel pool or a visit to Disney Springs, but if you want the most park action, you’ll want to pick different days to go. Crowds at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party Back to Animal Kingdom! Animal Kingdom tends to close obnoxiously early, so it’s another good park to pair with a Park Hopper or alternative park plans. Many guests visit Animal Kingdom for only one day during their trip, but if your family loves the atmosphere, entertainment, and food, you might want to add an extra hour or choose a second day. For this random day, 8 PM is pretty late, so it’s a great time for some late-night rides on Everest. Walking around Animal Kingdom The park doesn’t do too much for the holidays, but a fan favorite is the Merry Menagerie. These Arctic-themed puppets hang out by the stores in front of the Tree of Life, and they might be the most adorable thing we’ve ever seen. We love seeing them every single year and learning their names. 14. Major changes are on the way for the My Disney Experience app and the Disney World website. Disney has already announced a commitment to using AI tool, including a new vacation planner that relies on AI to help Disney World visitors plan their trips. ©Disney Well, this new AI planning tool has already rolled out to some users, and we’ve got a first look at how it works and what it does. And honestly? Well, we know a lot of folks were against an AI vacation planner, but we’ve already found it to be really helpful. If you log in to the Disney World website, you may see a new option in the box where you would search for hotels and vacation packages. This option says “Guided Search — BETA.” This is the beta version of the new AI-powered vacation planning feature that Disney is currently testing. Note that this is only now showing for select visitors to the website, so you may not see it yet. ©Disney If you click on that, though, you’ll get to try a new vacation planning experience using AI to find a Disney World vacation that meets your budget and needs. If you click on “Get Started,” you can…well, get started (simple enough, right?). We decided to look for hotel and ticket packages. You can also just choose to search for park tickets. ©Disney Select your dates and the number of adults. However, you can also tell the AI planner to be flexible with dates to help you potentially get better deals. ©Disney Here’s what the flexible screen looks like: you just choose a month. ©Disney Before you start your search, you can also ask the AI a question to narrow down what you’re looking for. So we asked the search to work with our $200 per night budget and told it our favorite park is EPCOT. Note that asking it a question is optional, and you can just click on “Skip for now.” ©Disney Then we got our results. The vacation planner showed us all of the hotels available in November 2026 between $100 and $200 per night, from those that are closest to EPCOT to those that are further away. You can see how helpful this might be if you’re planning your trip with a specific budget in mind. ©Disney There is also a section on the page to plan your trip. ©Disney When you click on a hotel, the planner will automatically choose your dates if you’re flexible. However, you can change those, and the calendar will show you different prices. Seriously, we loved being able to compare prices like this in one place! This is already a game changer. 15. Has McDonald’s been secretly killing it with their Happy Meals lately?! McDonald’s in Disney World We’ve been raving about McDonald’s Happy Meal’s lately, and honestly, we think it’s totally justified. They recently dropped Disney Villain Boo Buckets, which we were obsessed with, and now they’ve teased a new collection coming on November 10th. We’re going to have to start saving our money, because we’ll need to catch ’em all (wink wink)! McDonald’s is teaming up with Pokémon to bring a whole new set of toys, and we already know collectors are going to go crazy! The collection will feature toys of 15 different Pokémon as mini Happy Meal boxes. Each toy will have a keyring attached to it, so you can clip it to bags and other things ©Pokemon There will be three different types of Happy Meal boxes that you can get, and each box will have one of 15 different toy options and two Pokémon cards. The Pokémon Happy Meal will officially drop in the United States on November 10th. The three boxes that will be featured for this Happy Meal are themed to Pikachu, Umbreon, and Tochic. ©McDonald’s Maybe you can pair the Happy Meal with one of the new holiday drinks dropping at McDonald’s on November 3rd. The new lineup of drinks includes: Cookie Butter Frappé, Latte, and Iced Coffee: A creamy blend of rich cookie butter flavors topped with caramel cookie crumbs and sweet vanilla whip for a seasonal treat. 19. BIG news in the world of Marvel and Heated Rivalry fans! We do fall into both of those categories, so yes, this is some of the best news we’ve gotten all week, and we have a feeling a lot of you will feel the same. ©Disney Back in July, Marvel announced that they were working on a new Ghost Rider film with Ryan Gosling releasing in theaters in 2028. It’ll be directed by Shawn Levy with a script by Jonathan Tropper, known for Star Wars: Starfighter. Now, it sounds like another very popular actor, known for Heated Rivalry, may be joining the cast as well. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Connor Storrie, known for his role as Ilya Rozanov in the popular TV series Heated Rivalry, is currently in talks to star alongside Ryan Gosling in Marvel’s new Ghost Rider film. It’s currently presumed, but not confirmed, that Gosling is playing Johnny Blaze. In the comics, Blaze is a stunt motorcycle driver who makes a deal with the devil and becomes bonded with a demon named Zatharos, causing Blaze to transform into a flaming, skull-headed, fiery motorcycle-riding spirit of vengeance. The feature film currently has a release date of July 28th, 2028. ©Universal It’s not clear what character, or potential villain, Storrie would be playing, as there isn’t one clear antagonist in the comics. Instead, the comics have a number of demonic antagonists, such as Mephisto. Sony has already made films based on the comics, and in those, they decided to bring in Mephisto and his son Blackheart, while in the Disney+ series, Iron Hart, Sacha Baron Cohen portrayed Mephisto. ©IMDb The project is currently slated to film in New York in 2027, and it’s been reported that the project will shoot on film instead of digital. Marvel boss Kevin Feige is producing with Louis D’Esposito, Stephen Broussard, Shawn Levy, and Ryan Gosling, while Richie Palmer and Jessie Henderson are executive producing. ©IMDb Looking for more recent Disney media news? 22. Your go-to Lightning Lane strategies might need to change in 2027! Expedition Everest Disney World’s Lightning Lanes are an add-on service booked through the My Disney Experience app that allows guests to bypass the standby lines for shorter “Lightning Lanes” at select attractions. There are plenty of popular strategies for snagging the top attractions and getting the most bang for your buck. But beware that some of those Lightning Lane tips might not work anymore for your 2027 trip! Here are some of the biggest changes to Disney World Lightning Lane strategies in 2027! Lightning Lanes Will Be Extra Important at Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios There are a few MAJOR additions opening in Disney World in 2027. In Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the brand-new land Pueblo Esperanza is set to debut in the former DinoLand, U.S.A. area. It’ll feature two signature attractions — an Encanto ride featuring the Madrigal family and a new Indiana Jones adventure ride — plus a carousel with tons of popular Disney characters. Model of Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent And over in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the Monsters, Inc.-themed land Monstropolis will open in phases beginning in 2027. The initial opening will include the “Welcome to Monstropolis Show,” while the opening timeline for the land’s new roller coaster has yet to be announced. We’re going to walk down this street one day! Disney hasn’t yet announced how the lines for the new rides will work when they first open. In other words, it’s possible they could have Lightning Lanes, use Virtual Queues, or be standby only. Casita attraction ride vehicle models BUT, even if none of the new rides offer Lightning Lanes when they first open, using Lightning Lanes at the other attractions around Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios will be even more helpful once the new lands debut, so you can save time throughout the park and give yourself plenty of time to explore the new lands! We love all of these Monstropolis details! We want PLENTY of time to take a deep dive into the details and atmosphere of Monstropolis and Pueblo Esperanza. And by using Lightning Lanes, we can still ride some of our other favorite attractions without sacrificing too much precious time soaking up everything the new lands have to offer! Learn More About the NEW Pueblo Esperanza Land Coming to Animal Kingdom! No More Single Rider Loophole for a Popular Ride A few of the rides around Disney World offer single rider lines for solo travelers or guests who are okay with splitting up their party. Cast Members use people from the single rider lines to fill open seats after loading parties from the regular line that would otherwise go empty. Single Rider Line at Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance The single rider line can often end up being a shorter wait than the standby line. It’s definitely not a foolproof strategy, and the wait time can vary A LOT based on how many other guests are using it and the luck of the draw with how many single riders are needed to fill seats that day. But even though it’s not a guaranteed time-saver, there have been times that we’ve gotten lucky and ended up with a 5-10 minute wait using single rider lines. Test Track Single Rider In fact, some people even skip making Lightning Lanes for the attractions that offer single rider lines, in the hope that they can get a similarly short wait using the single rider line instead. But if this is one of your go-to hacks, beware — one popular ride recently REMOVED its single rider line! Single Rider Line Animal Kingdom’s Expedition Everest recently eliminated its single rider line, so all guests without a Lightning Lane reservation will now need to wait in the standby line. If you used to skip making a Lightning Lane for this attraction because of the single rider line option, your strategy will need to change for your next trip! No more single rider line at Expedition Everest! The other single rider lines around Disney World at attractions like Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets and Test Track are still in place. But keep in mind that those are subject to change as well, so be careful about planning your entire Lightning Lane strategy around single rider availability! Don’t Sleep on This Magic Kingdom Attraction Magic Kingdom has the most attractions with Lightning Lanes of all the Disney World parks. With so many options, some of the rides might fall through the cracks, especially those in the “Tier 2” group, which are less in-demand. Lightning Lane at Mad Tea Party One of the Tier 2 Lightning Lane options at Magic Kingdom is Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, the laser-shooting attraction in Tomorrowland. And if this is one of the rides that you could take or leave in the past, you might want to rethink that! Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin reopened in 2026 after a pretty major refurbishment that was certainly not a “standard maintenance and fresh coat of paint” situation. The updated version of the ride is a total refresh, complete with new ride vehicles, digital screens, and updated gameplay! They look totally refreshed It’s a total upgrade in our book, especially if you’re a competitive player aiming for that coveted Galactic Hero status. While this might have been a “could take it or leave it” Lightning Lane in the past, it’s definitely worth snagging for one of the Tier 2 choices in 2027, especially if you haven’t had the chance to ride the updated version yet! 24. Disney World is about to transform… and I could NOT be more excited! I’ve been visiting the “Most Magical Place on Earth” for just about 35 years; my favorite time of year — by far — is the holiday season. Granted, things can be crowded, but the decorations, ride overlays, and FOOD all make it more than worth it for me. Magic Kingdom Christmas Tree Suffice to say, I’m excited for the holiday takeover, which literally happens in part OVERNIGHT! Seriously, one of the resort’s most iconic decorations is literally installed while its home park is closed, appearing the next morning like magic. And it’s happening sooner than you may think! The Magic Kingdom’s massive Christmas tree — which makes its home right in the middle of Town Square — is literally installed overnight, and there’s a time-lapse video to prove it! But be warned: This doesn’t happen after Thanksgiving… This tree will be up to welcome guests on November 1st! It all starts when the last guest exits the park after the Halloween rendition of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. There will be THREE major events coming to the resort this holiday season! Jollywood Nights, which kicks off November 7th at Hollywood Studios and takes place from 7:30 PM to 12:30 AM on select nights through January 5th, offers the Disney Holidays in Hollywood and Nightmare Before Christmas shows, Disney characters sporting their Christmas best, including some rare sightings, the return of the Twilight Soirée at the Tip Top Club at the Tower of Terror, the Glisten! ice skating show, Jazzy Holidays at the Hollywood Brown Derby, decor and merchandise featuring Ollie the Gingerbread Man, and the Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM! nighttime spectacular. Jollywood Nights November 8th will see the 2026 debut of the ever-popular Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. As usual, the event will offer special presentations including Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration, Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade, Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks, Club Tinsel, photo opportunities with exclusive characters, festive treats, and tasty cookie and cocoa spots offering complimentary snacks and drinks to enjoy throughout the party! Plus, several Magic Kingdom attractions will offer special holiday overlays! Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade The 2026 International Festival of the Holidays launches on Black Friday, November 27th. One of the most beloved parts of the Festival of the Holidays is the Candlelight Processional. A longtime Disney tradition, the nightly event features celebrity narrators reading the Biblical Christmas story, joined by a 51-piece orchestra, the Voices of Liberty, and a choir of more than 150 Disney Cast Members and community singers. November’s Candlelight Processional readers include Jordan Fisher on the 27th and 28th, and Gary Sinise on the 29th and 30th. Candlelight Processional! 25. There’s nothing more nostalgic than sitting in front of the TV with family and watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. With massive balloons and decades of different floats and performers, we look forward to it every year. It’s Tom Turkey! While you’re probably already tuning in for the new Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey balloon, it will be even more fun with Universal Orlando’s first-ever character balloon! Universal Orlando Resort is getting its first-ever Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade balloon this year, and it will feature the resort’s Christmas icon, Earl the Squirrel! Based on the concept art, Earl will appear in his red flannel trap hat and “I love acorns” sweater just like he does in the parks! But unlike his park appearances, he’s holding a massive blue Christmas light. ©Universal Orlando Resort “Inspired by the beloved tale of a scruffy little squirrel who chewed through the blue lights on Universal Studios Florida’s Christmas tree, Earl has grown into one of the destination’s most cherished holiday traditions and proudly carries his signature blue lightbulb as a tribute to his past,” the concept art reads. The Christmas tree at Universal Studios Florida “The lore of the lights is really what we latched onto. How do we bring his trusty lightbulb with him and create a new balloon?” said Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade creative director Brendan Kennedy to Entertainment Weekly. “It all starts with a sketch, which gets 3D modeled. We do a little bit of flight testing to make sure it can fly well. We wanted to make sure we got the character just right, but also that he could fly perfectly!” Earl may try to bum that free cup off of you! We’re so excited to see Earl’s new balloon during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on November 26th at 8:30 AM EST. To say hi to Earl the Squirrel in person, he meets daily at Universal Studios Florida and on weekends at Universal CityWalk from November 14th, 2026, through January 3rd, 2027. 26. Each week, things are changing nearly constantly in Disney World, and since we’re in the parks nearly every day, it’s our job to keep an eye on them so you know what to expect. Cinderella Castle However, this also means there are tons of rumors that swirl around the parks each week. We caution you pretty often to be careful of what you believe, because not everything you read is true. Now, that’s not the case for our site — we bring you the news that IS true, or we’ll make things clear that it’s something we’re speculating, but we’ve gotta admit that there have been some interesting rumors flying around this past week, and more of them are true than you may realize! Cosmic Rewind Evacuation You may have heard some chatter about an evacuation of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in EPCOT, and we can confirm that the rumor is true! It’s not uncommon for rides to see an evacuation, but what was interesting about this one was that it all started with the preshow being down. We thought the ride itself was fine, even though we were being rerouted backstage to get to the ride vehicles. Part of the Cosmic Rewind queue However, things really changed when the ride not only started being evacuated, but the fire alarms went off. Cast Members began moving people out of the buildings QUICKLY — there was no lollygagging here. Everyone was safely moved outside, and guests were all told to move far away from the building, keeping the exit clear. A lot of people immediately headed to Guest Relations to see if they could be given a Lightning Lane to use on the ride in the future, and many experience redemptions were given out. Evacuated crowds It just so happened that we were in the right place at the right time to catch this happening and be part of it, but it serves as a good reminder that when things like this happen, it’s important to listen to Cast Members to ensure everyone is safe. We Got Evacuated from EPCOT’s Most Popular Ride. Here’s What It Was Like Disneyland in Ohio? You may have also heard a rumor earlier this week about a Disneyland park coming to Ohio. This all began when an article and corresponding social media video began circulating that claimed Disney was building a new park in the state, which would include thirty resorts, 100 pickleball courts, and an entire Marvel-themed park. People began speculating whether it was true, but we can report that this rumor is entirely false. New York Skyline in Disneyland Paris Hotel New York The original news story was posted on a satirical news site, which means they’re known for posting articles that are deliberately untrue. Disney has announced no plans to build a theme park in Cincinnati or anywhere else in Ohio, and currently the company’s only new project in development is Disney Abu Dhabi. Again — always check your sources before believing news! Disneyland in Ohio? The Truth Behind the Latest Rumor Leaving The Autograph Books Behind We spotted a popular reel on social media this week of someone getting their pair of black ears signed by Disney characters throughout the parks, and we saw that it brought up some questions from people asking if characters signing items other than autograph books are allowed. The answer is yes! Character Autographs on a Photo Mat We’ve personally had a photo mat signed, as well as water bottles. There are a number of different items characters can autograph for you, as long as it’s not on someone’s actual body, something too small, or something that’s too flimsy for a character to hold. An autograph book is a safe bet, for sure, but we also love the idea of them signing something that you’ll be able to look at every day, wear in the parks, or use! So cute! It’s a trend that we think is super cute, and while not everything will be able to be signed, the possibilities are wide open for what you can use to make those memories! 27. Happy Halloween, everyone! Now, it’s no secret that we’ve been celebrating Halloween since August, when the first Halloween decorations went up in Magic Kingdom and when we attended the first Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party of the year. But the ACTUAL date is coming up this weekend, and well, we have big plans. Gideon’s Bakehouse First, we’re going to enjoy some of those special fall and Halloween snacks that will be going away soon. But we’re also running to Disney Springs for two Halloween snacks that are only available this weekend. We’ve been so excited about the opening of Six Ravens, a new quick service restaurant in Disney Springs that’s owned by the same folks who own Gideon’s Bakehouse. Now, the restaurant is already known for its Coffyns, its own style of hand pies. With a name like that, you KNOW this dining spot is embracing the spooky spirit, right? Six Ravens Well, for THIS WEEKEND ONLY — and we’re talking Saturday and Sunday — you can get the Redrum Pork Bao Coffyn. It’s “smoked pork mingling with cabbage and a blood-red Asian BBQ sauce, a hauntingly delicious blend of sweet, salty, and tangy.” You’ll even get a side of extra BBQ sauce. It’s only available while supplies last, so you’ll want to get there early. ©Six Ravens Speaking of Gideon’s Bakehouse, you know THEY’RE going all out for Halloween weekend, too, right? On Saturday and Sunday, aka Halloween weekend, you can get a slice of Dark Pumpkin Monster Cake with Black Cocoa Chocolate layers, Pumpkin Cream Cheese Buttercream, Oreo Wafer Crumble, Black Ganache, and Black Marshmallow Buttercream for the stripes. Um…this sounds like a fall and chocolate lover’s dream! This one is also good until supplies last. ©Gideon’s Bakehouse Gideon’s will also have some Last Rites available, which is merchandise that has previously sold out, but a few were found tucked away. That includes the Baby Gargoyle Spookhouse Pin — only 80 are available. ©Gideon’s Bakehouse You can also grab the Stained Glass Gargoyle & Sticker Set. Note that for both of these items, only one is allowed per household. ©Gideon’s Bakehouse So you have some new reasons to visit Disney Springs this Halloween weekend! We’ll keep an eye out for more special snacks and drinks in Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB for more. REVIEW: See Ya Later, Gaston!
