  3. When it comes to deciding where to stay during a Disney World vacation, transportation to the resort’s four theme parks should always be a factor. Of course, Disney has its own massive transportation infrastructure, offering a system of buses, boats, Monorails, and Skyliner gondolas connecting their 30+ hotels with the parks. However, there are other options for those staying at a non-Disney-owned hotel. The shuttle This includes shuttle service provided to guests at the Wyndham Garden Lake Buena Vista, located in the Disney Springs Resort Area. However, there is one massive rule guests need to know about this transportation. Unlike Disney World’s internal buses, guests staying at the Wyndham Garden Lake Buena Vista need to book their specific shuttle time slot beforehand. Fear not, however; we found reserving the shuttle pretty easy. Reservations are made on your phone through the Fabulous Buses service website. While they cost $14, a code from Wyndham gets you a free ride. Shuttles go to the parks on the hour, every hour, and every half hour back from the parks. So, how does the reservation system work? Step one: On the Fabulous Buses website, you’ll select the hotel… ©Fabulous Buses …scroll through Disney World’s theme parks to select the one you want to visit… ©Fabulous Buses …then select the number of riders… ©Fabulous Buses …insert your information, guest status, and the promo code provided by the hotel to waive the $14 charge… ©Fabulous Buses …and choose your designated return time (note here you can see the $14 savings after putting the code in)… ©Fabulous Buses … and voila, your shuttle trip is booked! ©Fabulous Buses While needing to reserve a specific shuttle time may seem like an extra step, doing so provides a more structured experience than arriving at a Disney bus stop not knowing how long until the next bus arrives or how long the line is waiting for you. Of course, this also means you’ll need to be on time to make your reservation, admittedly a factor that doesn’t come into play when using a Disney bus. The shuttle If you’re considering staying at the Wyndham Garden Lake Buena Vista in the Disney Springs Resort Area, be aware that you’ll have to handle transportation just a wee bit differently than you may be used to. 4. The high cost of travel has started to affect theme park attendance at Universal Orlando, and it’s important to keep an eye on these trends to see how it may affect other theme parks in the area or your travel plans. Universal Orlando What does this exactly mean for your upcoming trip? Let’s break it all down. According to Deadline, Comcast, the company that owns Universal, has confirmed that its second quarter numbers showed softening attendance trends in Orlando. This is a trend that co-CEO Mike Cavanagh said has continued into the third quarter and is “driven by some weakness in consumer sentiment and higher travel costs.” It was highlighted, though, that these trends are temporary and are not at all a permanent change in the outlook. Epic Universe When speaking to analysts on a recent call, Cavanaugh continued by saying, “We continue to see continued consumer appeal and satisfaction, and all the things we look at, as it relates to the excitement people have about our parks.” These comments come as Brent crude prices just pushed past $100 per barrel for the first time in months, squeezing an already-tight oil market, which has been making travel more expensive overall. Islands of Adventure Universal Executives on the call did highlight that they’re very happy with Epic Universe, the newest park, but Cavanaugh warned that this drop is hitting Orlando as a whole, not just Universal Orlando parks. Over at Universal Studios Hollywood, CFO Jason Armstrong noted that “results improved as we began to lap the initial pressure we experienced last year,” but confirmed that they’re not expecting to see a real improvement until the new Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift coaster opens later this year. Meanwhile, Universal Studios Osaka is still seeing issues due to the China-related travel restrictions to Japan, though foreign ministers of both countries met to talk at a regional conference this week for the first time since the argument that started the fallout in November 2025. 6. We love visiting the Disney Parks during the holiday season. Where else can you eat Christmas cookies, listen to holiday music, and meet Santa Mickey Mouse all in one place? Sleeping Beauty Castle will look like this soon! We especially love Disneyland Resort’s holiday celebration with “it’s a small world” Holiday, Haunted Mansion Holiday, and Festival of the Holidays. But Disney announced that we’re about to get even more holiday fun this year, because the festivities are starting EARLY! The Holidays at the Disneyland Resort will begin November 13th, 2026! This will bring so many fun celebrations to Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. Dozens of holiday traditions are returning this year, including Believe…In Holiday Magic, a special fireworks presentation over Sleeping Beauty Castle, which even features a dusting of snow! Speaking of Sleeping Beauty Castle, the park’s signature landmark is all dressed up with sparkling icicles in the evenings for Wintertime Enchantment. Wintertime Enchantment at Sleeping Beauty Castle A Christmas Fantasy Parade delivers beloved Disney characters joined by a very special guest: Santa Claus! Other festive friends included reindeer, Toy Soldiers, dancing gingerbread cookies, and more. We love this parade! The return of Haunted Mansion Holiday presents some not-so-subtle nods to The Nightmare Before Christmas thanks to some extra decorations placed by the Pumpkin King himself, Jack Skellington! Every year, the Haunted Mansion Holiday in Disneyland is complete with a new gingerbread house in the ballroom. The 2025 theme was A Murder Most Fowl. Haunted Mansion Holiday 2025 Both the outside and inside of “it’s a small world” Holiday present festive flair as the Happiest Cruise on Earth dons holiday tunes and glittering lights! Over 300,000 lights adorn the iconic attraction during the holiday season. The official lighting at dusk each evening is a Disneyland Resort tradition. After that, you can catch a special light projection show every 30 minutes. Inside, the ride overlay also features the dolls of the attraction all dressed in traditional holiday clothing from each of their respective cultures. it’s a small world Holiday Plus, Disney California Adventure’s Festival of the Holidays is returning on November 13th, too! This Festival — with celebrations for Christmas/Navidad, Diwali, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and Three Kings Day — includes live entertainment, themed merchandise, and traditional cuisine from around the globe at Festive Foods Marketplaces. Disney Festival of the Holidays Disneyland Resort’s holiday season will run from November 13th, 2026, to January 6th, 2027, so you have plenty of time to join in on the holiday fun. 7. Disney Springs has restaurants tucked behind shops, restaurants floating on the water, and restaurants where you may accidentally spend $18 on a very tempting plate of cheese (well worth it!). Now, it has a restaurant hidden inside an enormous gaming venue — and you do not have to play the games to eat there! Disney Springs LEVEL99 recently opened on the West Side of Disney Springs with more than 60 physical, mental, and skill-based challenges spread across two floors. But behind all the puzzles, obstacle courses, and competitive chaos, there is also a full food and drink operation with a two-story bar, Detroit-style pizza, burgers, cocktails, and local beer. We stopped by solely for the food, and the process was surprisingly easy. Tell Them You’re Just Eating When you arrive at LEVEL99, you may see a line of guests waiting to check in for the games. That does not necessarily mean you need to join it. We told a LEVEL99 team member that we were visiting only to eat and drink. They gave us a special stamp that allowed us to enter the venue without purchasing gameplay or waiting through the regular player check-in process. LEVEL99 That meant no game ticket, no Veloband, and no pretending we were prepared to race across a balance beam while giant axes swung nearby. We simply went inside and ordered food. This was the procedure during our visit, so it is always worth asking a team member at the entrance before hopping into any line. Operations can change, especially while a brand-new location is still finding its rhythm. Everything You Need to Know About LEVEL99 at Disney Springs in Walt Disney World No Gameplay Required This is particularly helpful because LEVEL99 is primarily advertised as an interactive entertainment experience. It has Challenge Rooms, competitive Duels, and an art scavenger hunt, with the food positioned as a place for players to refuel. Unless you already know that the dining area is open to non-players, you could easily walk right past the building and assume admission is required. LEVEL99 But you can currently stop in for lunch, dinner, drinks, or a snack without committing to a timed gaming session. That makes LEVEL99 a sneaky new dining option for anyone exploring the West Side, especially if nearby restaurants have long waits. It could also work well when one person wants to play while another prefers to conduct important research at the bar. I have always believed ordering a cocktail counts as a skill-based challenge. EVERYTHING We Learned About LEVEL99 in Disney Springs on Opening Day What Can You Order? This is not a tiny concession stand feeding weary puzzle-solvers. LEVEL99 has a substantial menu with snacks, salads, handhelds, desserts, and Detroit-style pizzas available by the slab or as a whole pie. The signature Roni, Roni, Roni pizza features pepperoni, house-made red sauce, pecorino Romano, Calabrian chili, and fresh basil. Other options include the House Burger, made with domestic wagyu, sharp cheddar, caramelized onions, and brown butter aioli, as well as Loaded Elote Guacamole, Birria Street Tacos, Korean BBQ Sticky Wings, and Hot Honey Whipped Feta. Detroit Style Pizza There is also a large drink menu featuring craft beers, wine, frozen cocktails, zero-proof options, and cocktails such as the Hibiscus Old Fashioned, Cherry Cardamom Mule, and Mango Habanero Margarita. In other words, this is a real meal situation. You do not have to survive an obstacle course first to earn your pizza. FULL MENUS Announced for LEVEL99 at Disney Springs Here’s What To Do When you arrive at LEVEL99, look for a team member near the entrance and tell them you are visiting only for food or drinks. During our visit, we received a special stamp and were able to bypass the gameplay check-in line. From there, we entered the venue and ordered without purchasing a ticket. Because LEVEL99 is still new, the exact entry process could evolve. Crowds, private events, or venue capacity may also affect dining-only access. Ask before waiting in the player line, and do not be surprised if procedures look a little different during your trip. LEVEL99 Still, this is a VERY useful Disney Springs trick to know. LEVEL99 may look like a ticketed attraction from the outside, but a full restaurant and bar is hiding beyond that entrance. Sometimes the greatest Disney challenge is simply knowing which line you do not have to stand in. Follow us at DFB for more! Is LEVEL99 At Disney Springs Single Player Approved? We Found Out! 9. Change is a HUGE thing in Disney World, especially right now with all the new lands being constructed, new rides being built, and all the other construction happening all over the theme parks, hotels, and even in Disney Springs. So you would think we would be used to all this change by now. Can you spot the change? Well, we were still a little shocked recently when we visited one of our favorite EPCOT quick service spots to notice ANOTHER change. Now, this isn’t a HUGE change in the grand scheme of things, but it’s still big to us: Connections Eatery has swapped out its nice ceramic plates for paper plates. We’ll admit that we always felt a little bougie when we ordered food at Connections Eatery, and it was served on these nice ceramic plates like we were eating in a table service restaurant or something. It felt elevated, like somehow this quick service joint was way better than the others that serve food on paper plates. BBQ Chicken Pizza on a nice ceramic plate Well, those nice ceramic plates have been replaced, and we might be having some feelings about this change. Instead, food is now served on paper plates. The whole look and feel of this place just went down a little bit. We do GET why this change has probably happened, but it’s also a little confusing because Disney is committed to being sustainable (although we imagine these paper plates are recyclable, at least). Paper plate So we just wanted to warn you if you plan on visiting Connections Eatery soon — the plates have changed. Yes, it’s a small change, but it’s also a noticeable one, too. We’ll keep an eye out for more changes in EPCOT and around Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB for more. 4 Changes Coming to EPCOT Next Month Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! 10. Staying on Disney World property has always come with a few extra perks that make the higher price tag feel a little more worth it. EPCOT From Early Theme Park Entry to complimentary transportation, Disney has built in plenty of reasons to book a Disney-owned or partner hotel instead of staying off-site. But one of the most sought-after perks isn’t available to everyone — it’s reserved for guests staying at select higher-tier resorts, and it’s back on the calendar for several nights in August. That perk is Extended Evening Theme Park Hours, and it gives eligible guests the chance to stay in a park well after it closes to the general public. Unlike Early Theme Park Hours, which happen across multiple parks every day, Extended Evening Hours are only offered at one park per date. During these bonus hours, guests can enjoy select attractions, along with select merchandise and food and beverage locations, all with noticeably thinner crowds than during regular park hours. Animal Kingdom During Extended Evening Hours As for the schedule, EPCOT and Magic Kingdom will trade off hosting Extended Evening Hours through most of the month, with Animal Kingdom getting a turn as well. Here’s the full lineup for August: August 3 — EPCOT, 9-11 PM August 5 — Magic Kingdom, 10 PM-12 AM August 10 — EPCOT, 9-11 PM August 12 — Magic Kingdom, 10 PM-12 AM August 17 — EPCOT, 9-11 PM August 19 — Magic Kingdom, 10 PM-12 AM August 24 — EPCOT, 9-11 PM August 26 — Disney’s Animal Kingdom, 6-8 PM August 31 — EPCOT, 9-11 PM Magic Kingdom So who actually gets access to this perk? Extended Evening Hours are available to guests staying at a Deluxe or Deluxe Villa Walt Disney World Resort hotel for the length of their stay. The eligible resorts are: Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Disney’s Beach Club Resort Disney’s BoardWalk Inn Disney’s Contemporary Resort Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Disney’s Yacht Club Resort Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Jambo House Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Kidani Village Disney’s Beach Club Villas Disney’s BoardWalk Villas Disney’s Old Key West Resort Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows Disney’s Riviera Resort Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort – A Disney Vacation Club Resort (this benefit applies to the DVC Cabins only, not standard Fort Wilderness cabins) The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa Walt Disney World Swan Hotel Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel Walt Disney World Swan Reserve Shades of Green on Walt Disney World Resort If you’re staying at one of the eligible resorts on any of these dates, it’s worth building your evening plans around whichever park is hosting that night, since shorter lines can mean squeezing in a few extra rides or a relaxed dinner with far less hassle. EPCOT Spaceship Earth Nighttime Show Extended Evening Hours remain one of the best reasons to book a Deluxe or DVC resort for your next Disney World trip, especially if you’re hoping to beat the crowds during a busy August visit. 11. Breakfast is arguably the hardest meal of the day in Disney World. There are options out there, but in the parks, you may find that they’re not as filling as you’d like, are too sugary, or are located in a completely different park or hotel than where you currently are. Ale and Compass breakfast! Disney World hotels often have the better breakfast options in comparison to the parks, and one of our favorites was over at Ale & Compass, located at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort. However, we’re sad to report that the breakfast option has now been REMOVED from the menu, taking away one of the best dining deals we’d seen in a long time. Last year, we discovered that at Ale & Compass breakfast, served from 7:30 to 11 AM each day, has the individual entrees as you would expect, but also added something called the Continental Enhancement. This cost $28 for adults and included your choice of an entree, plus a drink, and get access to an entire breakfast buffet with additional offerings. Considering most entrees are around $15-25, this was an incredible steal. So many things to choose from Unfortunately, we are using the past tense here because we confirmed today that the Continental Enhancement is no longer available on the menu. Now, the only two additions on the menu (meaning additions to a regular entree) are the Danish Basket for $10, which comes with Cinnamon Rolls, Fruit Danish, and Assorted Mini Muffins… Danish Basket addition …and the Continental Parfait and Fruit addition for $10, which includes Açai, Blueberry, Strawberry, Sliced Banana, Granola, Coconut, and Honey. Continental Parfait and Fruit addition If you get an entree that’s $18 or less, then you’ll be paying less than you would have for the Continental Enhancement, but with fewer options. We’re really bummed that this offering is no longer available, as it was a big help for many families with picky eaters or just a variety of taste buds. Ale & Compass Now we still think this is a solid breakfast option, especially if either of the new sides appeals to you, but we also really love checking out Kona Cafe at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort if you’re in need of something quick but delicious, if you’re already in the parks, the Fresh Fruit Waffle at Sleepy Hollow Refreshments in Magic Kingdom is a favorite, as is the Breakfast Ronto Wrap from Ronto Roasters in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. 12. In the nearly a quarter-century it’s been open, Pop Century has become one of Disney World’s most popular Value Tier resorts. Pop Century If you find yourself staying at the popular resort, there are some things to keep in mind when checking in, and a BIG thing to remember when checking out. They Don’t Have an Ideal Room Before you even check in, you’d be wise to have a good idea where you’d like to stay. For example, if you’d like to be closer to the Skyliner, a room in the area of 4160 is probably ideal. On the other hand, if you want to stay somewhere away from the hustle and bustle-filled areas of the hotel, rooms in the area of 3137 would be a better choice. (Don’t worry, you don’t need to memorize these. We’ve got a full guide for you to use as a cheat sheet). Pop Century Room 4160 No matter what kind of room you want, know it beforehand so you can make a special request at check-in. Now, bear in mind, you’re NOT guaranteed that a Cast Member will be able to promise you’ll get your request, but it’s worth a shot. Pop Century’s Lobby 2 Construction Projects Just Wrapped Up at Disney’s Pop Century Resort — See It Now! They’re Not Sure Which Free Water Park to Visit If you’re visiting Disney World during a period when the free water park perk for hotel guests is being offered — like, say, the summer of 2026 — it definitely helps to know that Typhoon Lagoon is closer to Pop Century than Blizzard Beach. After all, you’ll want to get over to the park as soon as possible after checking in to take as much advantage of the water park as possible, and since every second counts, the closer park may be the better choice. You’ll get to Typhoon Lagoon quicker from Pop Century 5 Big Changes Are About to Hit Disney World Hotels in August They Have No Dinner Plan If you’re arriving late for check-in, like say close to midnight, be wary that both of Pop Century’s eateries — Everything Pop! and the Petals Pool Bar — close around 11 PM (The latter is occasionally open until 11:30 PM during certain times of year). So, if you arrive close to 11 PM, you should eat ASAP, and if you know you’ll be checking in later than that, have a backup plan. Perhaps grab a bite at one of MCO’s establishments if you’re flying in or stop by a drive-thru or supermarket if you’re driving. You may have to head back early to make sure you score some late-night nachos. Speaking of dining, planning where to eat on your Disney World vacation can feel a bit complicated. That’s where our Guide to Disney World Dining pulls it all together so you can stop stressing and focus on the fun without feeling like you’re missing a thing! Price Increases Arrive at Popular Disney World Restaurant They Don’t Take Advantage of the Airport Luggage Transfer Service The Airport Transfer Service is beneficial during both check-in and especially check-out from Pop Century. The luggage assistance desk! Passengers utilizing American Airlines, Southwest Airlines, and United Airlines can have their bags delivered directly to the hotel from their flight, and directly from the hotel’s bell station to their flight if they simply do the following: Fill out the registration form for the Airport Luggage Transfer at Disney service anytime from 30 days to 5 days prior to your departure flight. You will need your Disney Resort confirmation number and your airline confirmation number when you register. You will receive a confirmation email after registering. Check in to your flight online as normal and pay any necessary baggage fees. Head to the airport and follow the airline procedure to drop off your luggage. From there, the bags will go straight from their flight to their hotel room. When returning home, you’ll simply check in for your flight online starting 24 hours before departure and pay any necessary baggage fees via their mobile app or online. Drop off your bags at Luggage Assistance in the Resort hotel lobby area by the required drop-off time. Please be aware that you will need to provide a valid government-issued form of photo identification in order to drop off your bags. You can also call Luggage Assistance from your in-room telephone to ask for help with your bags. For a smoother experience, leave all inbound tags on your bags. Head to the airport, skip the check-in line, enjoy your flight, and pick up your bags at baggage claim when you arrive at your final destination. 16. As much as we love Disney World, Disneyland, and Universal Studios, we can admit that they aren’t the cheapest theme parks to visit. Magic Kingdom If you’re an avid theme park goer, but you’re looking for a cheaper place to get those thrills, we’ve got something you need to check out. A brand-new list dropped, filled with the 39 most affordable theme parks in the U.S. So, let’s take a look at some cheaper options you can go to this summer! The list of the 39 most affordable theme parks in the U.S. was compiled by The HometoGo Theme Park Index. It’s an interesting list that does, in fact, have Disney World and Universal parks listed, despite us mentioning that they are fairly expensive. Of course, those parks are at the bottom of the list, but they’re still there! Hollywood Studios At the very bottom of the list, ranked at #39, are Disney California Adventure AND Disneyland Park. After that comes Magic Kingdom (#38), Disney’s Animal Kingdom (#37), and Disney’s Hollywood Studios (#36). EPCOT is a couple spots higher at #34, rounding out the U.S. Disney Parks. EPCOT After the Disney Parks comes Universal Orlando Resort, with both Universal Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios Florida coming in at #32. So, like we mentioned, the Universal and Disney Parks are the more expensive theme parks to visit. It makes sense considering everything that the theme parks offer! Universal Orlando We’ve talked about the popular parks at the bottom, so let’s talk about the top of the list. Sitting at the #1 spot is Quassy Amusement Park, which is located in Connecticut. That theme park has an average cost of $76.43, which includes hotel, parking, AND ticket price. Talk about a package! ©Quassy Amusement Park The second most affordable theme park is Fun Spot America Themepark in Orlando with an average cost of $117.56. Rounding out the top three is Castles N’ Coasters in Arizona, at third. That theme park has an average cost of $129.63. In comparison to the bottom of the list, the Disneyland Resort parks both have an average cost of over $300! 19. It isn’t just Disney World’s theme parks that are going through a ton of changes with construction almost EVERYWHERE. Even Disney Springs has seen a ton of changes recently, with stores permanently closing, new stores moving in, and even new restaurants popping up. Columbia Sportswear Back in May, a popular store in Disney Springs, Columbia Sportswear, closed for a temporary refurbishment. For a while, we didn’t know when the store might reopen, but then Disney finally revealed an opening date…and that day has finally come. So we swung by Columbia Sportswear and confirmed that, yes, it has reopened as of July 24th. Yes, that’s right, the popular Columbia Sportswear has reopened, so you can shop for jackets, athletic tops, shorts, and more, including comfortable outfits that are perfect for hitting the theme parks. This also means you may be able to find some new Disney x Columbia Sportswear apparel, including The Mandalorian and Grogu Bahama collection, as well as the Mickey’s Outdoor Club collection. It’s open! Disney Springs is really hopping right now. We just recently got the full menu for the upcoming Six Ravens, a restaurant owned by the same folks who own Gideon’s Bakehouse. We expect the quick service restaurant to open any day now (and we’ve been impatiently waiting to try its signature Coffyns)! Six Ravens in Disney Springs Meanwhile, Ghirardelli Soda Fountain & Chocolate Shop has temporarily relocated while its main location in Disney Springs gets a renovation — it’s not expected to reopen in its original location until 2027. The new Vans store recently opened in Disney Springs, and Cole Haan will be moving into Disney’s shopping and dining district soon. 20. According to some people, there are few better feelings than landing at Orlando International Airport to begin a long-planned vacation. (It’s me; I’m some people). Inside Terminal C at MCO Airport Once you get off your plane and set foot in MCO, there are some things you should do immediately before heading off on the rest of your trip. Go to the Bathroom If you’re a similar flyer to me, heading to the restroom will be the first thing you NEED to do after a long flight. New Terminal ©️Greg Angel via Twitter (@NewsGuyGreg) However, given that many, MANY passengers from your flight are going to do the same thing, we’d recommend not going to the first bathroom you see (unless, you know, you…have to) and instead walking down the concourse a bit to a less crowded option. MCO airport NEW RULES For Flying to Orlando Airport This Summer Get a Sneak Peek at Merchandise We know when you get off your plane, you’re probably going to want to get out of the airport ASAP. However, it may be a good idea to swing by one of the official Magic of Disney (located in Terminals B and C) and the Universal (Terminals A, B, and C) stores. Orlando International Airport’s Terminal C By doing so, you can get a sneak peek at what kind of merchandise will be available during your trip if you’re visiting one or both of the resorts, and what you may be missing out on if you’re only visiting one. Orlando International Airport shopping Flying To Florida? We Have Some BIG Airport Changes To Share Know Where You’re Going After you’ve picked up your checked bag, if you had one, it’s time to leave the airport…and to do so, you’ll need to know where you’re going! Renting a car? You’ll need to head down to level R1 or R2 (depending on the company you’re renting from) in Terminals A & B and levels C1 or C2 in Terminal C. Rental Cars at Orlando International Airport Have a shuttle booked to head to your destination? Head down to Level 1 from any terminal. MCO transportation lines Planning to use Uber, Lyft, or a similar rideshare service? You’ll need to head to Level 2 or 3 from Terminals A & B, and Level 6 at Terminal C. Passengers arriving in Terminals A & B can access the station through the Terminal Link people mover system. 21. This is NOT a drill! Baked potatoes are back in Disney World! Plant-based Chili Baked Potato We go to Disney World all the time trying out different eats, treats, and drinks. When we heard there was a new baked potato in EPCOT, we wasted no time heading to the park to try it out. Of course, we’re bringing you our full review. Is this something you should try? Let’s find out! One of our favorite dining spots at EPCOT is the Regal Eagle Smokehouse, which you’ll find at the American Adventure in World Showcase. We went to the quick-service spot to try the Plant-based Chili Baked Potato for $13.49. Plant-based Chili Baked Potato In all the times we’ve taken photos for food, we’ve never had a crowd of people come ask us about the food we got, like this baked potato. The photos do not do the size of this potato justice! It is shocking to see how big this is. This is the baked potato version of the giant croissant. If you love oversized Disney food, we’ve got a new one for you. Plant-based Chili Baked Potato Besides the dramatic visual appeal, this potato also tastes good. This plant-based loaded baked potato checks a lot of the boxes. You’ve got your chili, your sour cream, your cheese, and even a bonus Benne Seed-Herb Sauce (benne is an old Southern term for sesame seed). However, since every element is plant-based, everything seems to be missing the level of salt you expect from eating something like this. It doesn’t deliver the salty kick you expect from something that looks like this. Let’s take a bite! We had about half before we decided to grab a couple packets of salt and pepper. After splitting the potato open so all the toppings were exposed, we seasoned everything, and now we’re in love with this dish. Opening it up also showed us that the chilli appears to contain a combination of red beans, black beans, and garbanzo beans, which we found really interesting. We’re happy to have that variety of legume-based protein, and it makes the chili taste hearty. Here it is! The herb sauce completely came to life after adding the salt and pepper. So did the chili, the sour cream, and the cheese. Every element got a boost, but the potato itself, which needed it the most, benefited more than anything. It’s an expensive baked potato, but is it worth it? We actually think so! The variety of ingredients, the specialty plant-based components, and the fact that several of these elements seem unique to this dish make us think it probably wasn’t cheap to develop. This feels like the kind of ambitious menu item a chef introduces that disappears if it doesn’t sell because there are so many custom components involved. This was tasty! The vegan sour cream is going to give you a coconut aftertaste. The shredded vegan cheese won’t give you a melty texture. You’re definitely gonna need to grab those salt packets, but this thing is GOOD. We also got watermelon on the side. Our first instinct was to get fries until we remembered that those were potato too, and we figured we should break it up a little bit. You need to try this! We’re always trying new things at Disney World, so make sure to follow us at the Disney Food Blog for more snack reviews! REVIEW: This Disney DOLE Whip Shocked Us in the BEST Way! 22. We’re less than a month away from D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in Anaheim, California, and while there are numerous parts of the event we’re looking forward to, the merchandise we get to check out is one of our favorite parts. ©Disney Our wallets usually aren’t a fan, of course, but hey, for a lot of this merchandise, it’s the only time you’ll be able to grab it. If you’re a big fan of pins, like we are, you need to see this new pin that’s arriving on the first day of the event — it’s wildly expensive, more than some of the Walt Disney World Annual Passes, but when we say it’s rare, it’s RARE. There will be multiple new pins avaialable at the Mickey’s of Glendale shop at D23 in August, but the one that immediately caught our eye is the World Princess Week Ultra Jumbo Pin, which will cost a whopping $1,200. ©Disney The pin features numerous of your favorite Princesses across Disney’s animated films. From left to right, we’ve got Raya, Belle, Ariel, Mulan, Tiana, Merida, Pocahontas, Jasmine, Moana, Cinderella, Aurora, Rapunzel, and Snow White. The pin is 16 inches wide and 9 inches high — yes, that means it’s over a FOOT long! ©Disney It also comes with a magnetic closure box to help you display your pin safely wherever you’d like. The big catch? There are only 150 of these in existence, so while it’s expensive, it’s incredibly rare. At this time, there’s no telling if it’ll be available anywhere else in the future, but considering how many people attend D23, it’s our guess that it’ll sell out pretty fast. ©D23 We’ll be in attendance throughout all of D23, so we’ll be keeping you updated on all the latest panel news, as well as merchandise updates. 23. Your favorite characters are ready for adventure at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park! Since we’re always looking for ways to add extra magic to your park days at planDisney, I recently set out on a mission to track down all the character greeting spots in the park. After spending a day exploring the park, I’m happy to report… I have insider tips for how to find rare characters and experiences exclusive to Animal Kingdom! Here’s what I discovered and where you can find them, too: How to Find Characters in the My Disney Experience App Before you set off on your own adventure, every explorer needs the right tools. Characters are easy to locate with the My Disney Experience app! Just Follow These Simple Steps: Click on the map pin at the bottom of the screen. Swipe left at the top of the screen and choose Characters. Click on Locations to select the desired theme park. Find characters on the map or choose Show List at the bottom right. By clicking on a character, you can view the location and times the selected character will appear throughout the day. Disney Character Experiences Exclusive to Animal Kingdom Theme Park The Lion King Characters are Ready to Greet You at the Oasis You might run into a wise mandrill or a certain meerkat who loves to hula. Rafiki is ready to show you the way, and when he takes a break for his meditations, Timon steps in to keep the fun going. You might even be able to convince him to do a dance with you! Both characters begin greeting guests about an hour after park opening most days and rotate every 30 minutes. Pocahontas is Just Around the Riverbend in the Oasis For one the most unique character greetings at Walt Disney World Resort, head to the right as you enter the Oasis. Just before the bridge to Discovery Island, you’ll find Pocahontas in a beautiful, natural setting that feels perfect for her adventurous spirit. Zootopia Characters are on Duty on Discovery Island Officers Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde are on the case! Hop on over to The Gathering Spot near the Tree of Life just outside Zootopia: Better Zoogether! It turns out Zootopia’s busiest crime-fighting duo are also some of the most popular characters at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. You’ll want to make sure you plan ahead for a visit with them. Since this is a popular meet and greet, allow some extra time. Up Characters are Out for Adventure on Discovery Island While you’re out on an adventure on the Discovery Trails, you might find Russell exploring the trails. His surprise visits don’t always appear in the My Disney Experience app, which means you’ll have to be a true Wilderness Explorer to find him. This is one of the hidden gems, so be on the lookout! For the best chance, enter the Discovery Trails to the left of the Tree of Life just before the bridge to Africa. You also never know when you might see Kevin or Dug roaming around Discovery Island. Kevin’s vibrant colors are hard to miss and be sure to ask Dug if he’s seen any squirrels. With his special voice box, he just might talk to you. Ready, Set, Play! Join Bluey and Bingo at Animal Kingdom While this isn’t a traditional character greeting, it is a one-of-a-kind play experience with Bluey and Bingo at Conservation Station. Hop on the Wildlife Express at Harambe Station near the exit to Kilimanjaro Safaris. Then get ready to dance with Bluey and Bingo and play games like Magic Asparagus, Keepy Uppy, and the Octopus Game. Disney Characters with Unique Animal Kingdom Outfits Animal Kingdom is the only place you’ll be able to see Mickey Mouse and his pals dressed for adventure. Start your day with Donald Duck and Daisy Duck who are dressed for a safari on the Oasis. After you enter the park, head to the right toward Garden Gate Gifts to find them. Then be sure to stop by and say hello to Mickey and Minnie who are also donning khakis and their safari hats. You’ll find them at Adventurers Outpost near the bridge to Asia. As you make your way further into the park, turn right after you enter Asia and be on the lookout for Goofy and Pluto. If you love character photos, you won’t want to miss these unique safari outfits starring Mickey and all of his adventurous pals. planDisney Tip If little ones are apprehensive about meeting characters, give them a few minutes to watch other guests interact with the characters so they can feel more comfortable. Remind them that just a high five or quick hello is perfectly okay. The characters are wonderful about recognizing a child’s comfort level and making them feel welcome. 24. There are Disney movies that receive new merchandise approximately every eleven minutes. Then there is The Rescuers Down Under. Released in 1990, this wildly underrated Disney adventure gave us Bernard, Miss Bianca, Jake, Cody, Marahute, Wilbur, and one deeply misunderstood goanna (Nope, that’s not a typo. A goanna is a species of lizard found in Australia) with a dangerous appetite for eggs. Yes, we are talking about Joanna. Rescuers Down Under Tee at Tren-D Fortunately, Loungefly has remembered that The Rescuers Down Under exists. Several bags inspired by the movie are currently available through Amazon, including backpacks featuring Bernard, Miss Bianca, Jake, and other residents of the Australian Outback. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Joanna has spent decades being treated like a villain when she was clearly an overworked assistant trapped in a toxic workplace with inadequate snacks. She does not get nearly enough Disney merchandise, and we have questions for the people in charge. Joanna may still be waiting for her solo collection, but this is progress. Loungefly Disney The Rescuers Down Under Mini Backpack This The Rescuers Down Under Mini Backpack looks like it was designed for the Disney fan who remembers renting the movie on VHS and then immediately attempting to communicate with local wildlife. Jake appears front and center on the exterior pocket, while Bernard and Miss Bianca are pictured above him. Additional animal characters appear on the side pockets, giving you several little details to inspect while waiting in a Disney World security line. ©Amazon It is colorful without being overwhelming, a smaller size without looking like a preschool backpack, and obscure enough to attract approving nods from fellow Disney adults. In other words, it is a useful way to identify your people. This would be a fun park bag for Animal Kingdom, especially if you enjoy coordinating your accessories with the general theme of animals, conservation, and birds who could absolutely carry a small child through the sky. view ON AMAZON Loungefly Disney The Rescuers Down Under Embroidered Mini Backpack – BoxLunch Exclusive This BoxLunch Exclusive Disney The Rescuers Down Under Backpack makes a bold entrance, practically stomping in with hiking boots and declaring your deep appreciation for Disney’s more underrated animated films. The embroidery gives the bag a more polished, collectible feel than a standard printed backpack. It also has a slightly roomier shape, which is good news for anyone carrying a portable charger, sunscreen, hand sanitizer, sunglasses, three emergency snacks, and the deeply seeded resentment that Disney still has not built a Joanna meet-and-greet. ©Amazon The earthy colors make this backpack especially wearable for fall, but it could easily work year-round. It would look right at home in Animal Kingdom, Disney Springs, or on the back of someone calmly explaining why The Rescuers Down Under deserves more attention than it received. view ON AMAZON Loungefly Disney The Rescuers Down Under Crossbody Bag Frank fans, your moment has arrived. This Disney Loungefly The Rescuers Down Under Round Crossbody Bag is shaped around Frank — the frantic frill-necked lizard who spends much of the movie trying to escape McLeach’s collection of captive animals. His neck frill extends beyond the body of the bag, creating a dimensional effect that is exactly the kind of wonderfully unnecessary detail we expect from Loungefly. Bernard and Miss Bianca appear as debossed designs behind him, and the back includes additional detailing with the silhouette of an albatross. Amazon A crossbody can be a great option when you want something smaller than a backpack but still need enough room for your phone, wallet, keys, and one snack you swear you are saving for later. Frank is an especially fun choice for Disney adults who want character merchandise that is not instantly recognizable to every person standing near them. This bag rewards the fans who know. Everyone else may simply wonder why you are carrying a panicked Australian lizard. view ON AMAZON These bags are nostalgic, delightfully specific, and different from the designs you see during every trip through the parks. Now we simply need Loungefly to finish the job — give Joanna her own bag, give her an egg-shaped coin purse, and give her a backpack with a movable jaw and a lining covered in stolen eggs. We have waited long enough. Be sure to check Amazon for the latest prices and availability, since both can change at any time. And keep following Disney Food Blog for more Disney merchandise, Amazon finds, and important discussions about unfairly overlooked animated reptiles. View the full article

  26. Here at Disney Food Blog, we love Disney so much that we’ll mark our calendars for the day that new Disney documentaries release on Disney+. ©Disney If you’re just as big Disney fans as we are, then you’re going to love this news. Disney is releasing not one, but two documentaries on Disney+ soon! If you ever wanted a romance set on Mount Everest, then Disney’s got you covered. Everest: The Other Side stars real-life mountaneer couple Jim Morrison and Hilaree Nelson as they climb and ski the first descent of the direct North Face of Everest, the most coveted ski line on earth, in a story of love, loss, and what it takes to chase the impossible dream. Everest: The Other Side will premiere at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival and the 51st Toronto International Film Festival before opening exclusively in theaters and IMAX worldwide on October 30th. ©Jimmy Chin via National Geographic Disney also announced a brand-new feature documentary by Academy Award– and Emmy–nominated filmmaker Leslie Iwerks of Disneyland Handcrafted. In Disney Worldbuilders, Leslie sits down with some of the key figures who have helped shape many of Disney’s most enduring stories. Through personal reflections on their earliest inspirations, pivotal moments along the way, and the formative Disney memories they’ve carried with them over the years, these iconic Disney storytellers share the experiences that have helped shape their creative journeys. ©Disney Throughout the documentary, you’ll hear directly from creators behind some of your favorite films, characters, attractions, and more. Disney Worldbuilders doesn’t stop at how these worlds came to be — it goes behind the walls of what’s coming next, offering rare glimpses of new lands, areas, and experiences taking shape, stories still in the making, and a first look at where Disney’s worldbuilding goes from here. If you want to watch it and get a look at Disney behind-the-scenes, it will premiere on Disney+ in August! The film features candid conversations with some of the most influential creators in entertainment today, but only three of them were included in the teaser trailer. In the full documentary, you can watch full interviews with: Josh D’Amaro — CEO, The Walt Disney Company Bob Iger — Former CEO and Senior Advisor, The Walt Disney Company, and incoming Disney Legend Dave Filoni — President and Chief Creative Officer, Lucasfilm James Cameron — Academy Award-winning Filmmaker and Disney Legend Jared Bush — Chief Creative Officer, Walt Disney Animation Studios Jennifer Lee — Academy Award-winning Writer/Director of Frozen Jon Favreau — Filmmaker, Executive Producer, and Disney Legend Kevin Feige — President, Marvel Studios and Chief Creative Officer, Marvel Pete Docter — Chief Creative Officer, Pixar Animation Studios Josh D’Amaro, CEO of The Walt Disney Company ©Disney We’re so excited for these new documentaries to hit Disney+ soon. 27. Disney’s Wilderness Lodge is home to some serious hidden gems! Dopey! From its gorgeous, rustic theming to relaxing boat transportation directly to Magic Kingdom, there’s TONS to love about Wilderness Lodge. In fact, this hotel has so many incredible features that some of our favorite details still fly under the radar! Let’s talk about three things at Wilderness Lodge that lots of people don’t know about…but definitely should! Meet Rare Characters at Story Book Dining at Artist Point There’s no shortage of great dining at Wilderness Lodge, including Story Book Dining at Artist Point! The restaurant features a prix fixe meal and a gorgeous atmosphere themed after Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Storybook Dining at Artist Point We’ve been seriously impressed with the meals we’ve had here in the past, both in terms of taste and presentation. Desserts! As if the stellar food and magical atmosphere weren’t enough, it’s also a character meal! As you might have guessed, given the theme, Snow White makes appearances throughout the evening. And, while Snow White herself tends to pop up at several other places around Disney World, she’s also joined by some of her much harder-to-find friends! Snow White at Storybook Dining Both Dopey and Grumpy stop by throughout the meal as well, along with Snow White herself. Plus, The Evil Queen is available for a unique photo opportunity…if you dare! That means you can meet THREE rare characters — Dopey, Grumpy, and The Evil Queen — plus the popular princess Snow White for good measure! Evil Queen at Storybook Dining at Artist Point If you’re a Disney character enthusiast, that’s too good an opportunity to pass up! Make sure you snag an Advance Dining Reservation if Storybook Dining at Artist Point is on your must-do list. Waterfront View of Nighttime Entertainment from Geyser Point Bar & Grill Speaking of fabulous dining options, Geyser Point Bar & Grill offers hearty appetizers, full entrees, and an incredible cocktail menu with unique drinks, all in a relaxing, open-air setting! Geyser Point Food During the day, you can enjoy the chill waterfront atmosphere. But at night, the Geyser Point ambiance gets even better! You may be able to spot some views of the Magic Kingdom fireworks, depending on where you’re sitting. Plus, you can get a great view of the Electrical Water Pageant as it floats by each night! Electrical Water Pageant Geyser Point offers both table service dining and plenty of bar seating, so you can take advantage of the views whether you’re in the mood for a full meal or just a nightcap! Fire Rock Geyser Eruptions The theming of Wilderness Lodge is inspired by America’s National Parks and their classic lodges. You’ll find tons of gorgeous details around the hotel that speak to the theme, like a massive gathering fireplace, hand-carved totem poles, and even a “hot spring” right next to the lobby. Wilderness Lodge Lobby Water features play a pretty significant role in the hotel’s theming, and one of the absolute coolest of those is Fire Rock Geyser. Inspired by Yellowstone National Park’s Old Faithful, Fire Rock Geyser “erupts” every hour on the hour throughout the day, sending water 120 feet into the air! Fire Rock Geyser We could spend all day taking in all of the beautiful, rustic details around Wilderness Lodge, but our exploration wouldn’t be complete without catching an eruption from Fire Rock Geyser! Disney World is full of hidden details and under-the-radar gems, so stay tuned to Disney Food Blog to make sure you don’t miss out on any must-dos when planning your next vacation! 6 Tips for Having the BEST STAY EVER at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox!
