Another closure has hit Disneyland Resort, but it may not be one you were expecting. Broken Spell Lounge Inside the Disneyland Hotel, you’ll find a spot that has seen many different versions of lounges over the years. Currently, you’ll find the Broken Spell Lounge here, which opened back in late 2025. However, if you were hoping to stop by on your upcoming trip, that just got much harder. The Disneyland website currently lists the Broken Spell Lounge as closed for refurbishment. No reopening date has been listed at this time, and currently the lounge remains closed through as far as the calendar goes right now, which is October 23rd. ©Disney Broken Spell Lounge is inspired by the Disney animated film Sleeping Beauty, and that’s shown throughout the theming of the space. When open, you can grab small bites like the dry-rub chicken wings, classic Caesar salad, savoury steak frites, and molten chocolate cake, as well as glasses of wine and special cocktails like the Old Fashioned or Black Thorn Bramble. Benevolent Faerie at Broken Spell Lounge If you’ll be near the Disneyland Hotel and are looking for other spots to check out, we recommend Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar for an incredibly immersive experience, the Palm Breeze Bar, as well as Tangaroa Terrace Tropical Bar & Grill. Not to mention, you can also order room service if you find you don’t want to leave the room. More Recent Disneyland Resort News! There are tons of ways to explore Disney World! After Hours at Magic Kingdom You can check out the theme parks, search around the resorts, and have fun at Disney Springs! You can even explore the theme parks after they close thanks to Disney’s After Hours events. Disney recently confirmed tons of exciting news about After Hours in 2027, but we noticed a few things were missing as well… After Hours are BACK in Disney World! This extra ticketed event gives you time in the parks after dark with low crowds, short lines, and endless snacks to indulge in. In 2027, confirmed After Hours Events will be hosted in EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, and Magic Kingdom. It’s at Magic Kingdom where we’re noticing a few changes. Wristband for After Hours in Magic Kingdom In 2027, there are two missing perks that we think you need to know about. The first missing perk impacts everyone going to the Magic Kingdom events because there is no mention of the Disney Enchantment Fireworks show! Disney Enchantment Fireworks In previous years, After Hours guests could watch both Happily Ever After and Disney Enchantment if they wanted extra entertainment throughout their evening. On Disney’s website, they wrote, “When you arrive early, you’ll have extra time to enjoy attractions and entertainment. Plus, you can witness the charm of Happily Ever After, the nighttime spectacular at Magic Kingdom park!” That means we’re getting half the fireworks next year. Happily Ever After While we love Happily Ever After, you can see it daily in Magic Kingdom (depending on weather). Disney Enchantment is a retired fireworks spectacular, and we loved that select guests could experience it at this event. This could also impact your planning if you want to check out nighttime entertainment, so plan accordingly. After Hours at Magic Kingdom The second missing perk is that there are NO discounts available for Magic Kingdom’s After Hours events. If you’re a Disney Vacation Club Member or an Annual Passholder, you can get discounted tickets to After Hours events at EPCOT and Hollywood Studios, but not Magic Kingdom. No crowds during After Hours in Magic Kingdom! In the past, these two groups could get discounted tickets to this event, so this is a pretty big change if you’re planning to head in late at night. If you’re interested in attending the event, you should know that Magic Kingdom After Hours runs from 10 PM to 1 AM each event night. Currently, Disney has confirmed After Hours for: January 11th January 18th February 1st February 8th February 15th February 22nd March 4th March 8th March 15th April 5th April 12th April 26th May 17th May 24th June 14th June 21th June 28th July 15th July 19th Empty lands during After Hours! Attractions that will be open include: TRON Lightcycle / Run Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Haunted Mansion Peter Pan’s Flight Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin And more! After Hours Event at Magic Kingdom You also get access to free drinks, popcorn, ice cream bars, and more! These are some of our favorite evenings in Magic Kingdom, although we will miss those rare fireworks. Be sure to keep following DFB for more Disney news, updates, changes, and more. Disney World has been full of changes lately, and they aren’t slowing down anytime soon, especially when it comes to their hotels, and this winter is no different. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort If you’re traveling to Disney World this winter, keep these 10 changes in mind, so you aren’t met with any surprises and can have a smooth and worry-free vacation! The Grand Floridian’s Famous Gingerbread House Is No Longer Earlier this year, Disney announced that the Grand Floridian’s famous gingerbread house (like, literally the size of a house) would not return this year. This tradition began in 1999, so we were devastated to hear that this holiday decoration would not be available for the first time in over 25 years (with the exception of it not being available last year due to construction in the lobby). 2024 Grand Floridian Gingerbread House Instead, the resort will feature a few small ones scattered throughout the hotel, and they will still be made by Disney’s culinary team. Disney has yet to announce what they are doing with the gingerbread displays in other resorts, but we expect displays like the gingerbread carousel… 2025 Beach Club Carousel …and the gingerbread castle to return. We’ll keep you updated with any information released about these holiday displays. Contemporary Resort Gingerbread Castle “Another Piece of Magic Taken Away.” Fans Are Devastated By the Loss of This Beloved Disney World Tradition Renovations Continue At Grand Floridian Resort & Spa Speaking of the Grand Floridian, work will continue in select areas of the resort through early 2027, including the resort’s covered entrance. Guests may notice construction activity or noise during daytime hours, and some areas may require guests to use alternate routes while the work is in progress. Grand Floridian Resort & Spa Room Prices Revealed: How Much a Christmas Stay at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort Costs This Year The Skyliner Is Closed For Maintenance A Week In January Each year, the Skyliner goes under maintenance, and it tends to happen toward the end of January. Disney is sticking with that timeline, as the Skyliner will be closed from January 24th through January 30th. During this time, buses at the Skyliner resorts will be available to bring guests to and from Hollywood Studios and EPCOT. The Skyliner resorts include Art of Animation, Pop Century, Caribbean Beach, and Riviera. Disney Skyliner The Rare Skyliner Route CHANGE You Need to Know About If You’re Staying at Disney’s Riviera Resort The All-Star Movies Rooms Are Getting A Refresh Guest rooms at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort will be undergoing refurbishment through January 2027. During this time, guests may notice construction activity, including noise, in the area. Some walking paths may also be temporarily closed, with alternate routes available. All-Star Movies The SECRET Way to Make Your Disney’s All-Star Hotel Room Feel Totally Different Animal Kingdom Lodge Rooms Are Under Refurbishment Like the other resorts on this list, the guest rooms at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge are also undergoing refurbishment. Room refurbishments at Kidani Village were completed in May 2026, but work at Jambo House is still ongoing and is expected to continue through January 2027. Jambo House Construction REVIEW: If You’ll Excuse Us, We’ll Be Dreaming About These Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Pool Bar Eats Disney’s Beach Club Resort Is Doing Exterior Maintenance Disney’s Beach Club Resort is currently undergoing visible exterior maintenance through late 2027. During this time, guests may notice construction work and hear noise in the area during daytime hours. The work may also impact views from various areas of the resort, and some walking paths may be temporarily closed with alternate routes available. Beach Club Exterior Maintenance If This Secret Gets Out, Nobody Will Stay at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Again The BoardWalk Inn Pool Will Be Closed For A Portion Several amenities at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn will be closed for routine maintenance from January 11th, 2027, through April 2027. This includes the Luna Park Pool, Luna Park Crazy Play Area, and Leaping Horse Libations. Guests can still enjoy the Villas Pool and Inn Pool, which will remain open. Disney’s BoardWalk Inn There’s a NEW Exclusive Perk at the Disney World BoardWalk You May Hear Construction At Coronado Springs Refurbishment work at Disney’s Coronado Springs Convention Center is expected to continue through late September 2027. The project will also include the El Centro Corridor and nearby areas of the resort. Since the work will be completed in phases, certain spaces may be temporarily unavailable throughout the refurbishment. To limit disruptions for guests, construction will primarily take place overnight. Coronado Springs REVIEW: If You Haven’t Visited This Disney World Lounge, We Know Where You NEED To Go Construction At The Contemporary Will Occur In Phases Disney’s Contemporary Resort will undergo refurbishment work in phases across select areas through late 2027. The project includes both Bay Lake Tower and the Main Tower atrium. Exterior maintenance on the Main Tower may affect views from certain areas of the resort, and guests may need to use alternate walking paths during this time. Disney’s Contemporary Resort I Found the Perfect Room at Disney’s Contemporary Resort — Here’s How to Get It Renovations Continue at Port Orleans Resort – Riverside Guest room renovations at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside are expected to continue through August 2027. The resort has been undergoing refurbishment for more than a year, and guests may continue to notice construction activity during this time. With so many construction projects happening around Disney World, we wouldn’t blame you if you’re rolling your eyes at another one. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Construction is the only way we’ll get new things in the parks, though, so we totally get it, but all the walls and closures do really start to drag you down when you start seeing them everywhere. Alas, it looks like a Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort spot could be undergoing construction soon, which could mean this long-forgotten spot could finally be coming back to life. Tangaroa Terrace is a building separate from the Great Ceremonial Hall at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. For years, this spot has been closed to the public, but a new permit has just been filed that could put it back on the map for guests. In fact, it’s been forgotten for so long that when you pull up Tangaroa Terrace, you’ll only find the location at the Disneyland Hotel on the West Coast — don’t be fooled; that one is still operating just fine! Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort It’s had many roles over the years, such as a buffet, the Neverland Club (the resort’s kids’ club) back around 2014, and most recently has been used as a Cast Member break area. Now, Disney has just filed a new permit for the area that’s in effect until December 31st, 2027, which is a LONG time for a permit to be in use. Typically, we see them around a year long, so the fact that this one is a few months longer is quite the change. New permit! The permit is for “General Conditions,” which doesn’t give us a lot of information to go off of. The contractor is Keenan Hopkins Schmidt and Stowell (KHS&S Contractors), and according to their website, they are leading specialty interior and exterior contractors that create spectacular interiors, exteriors, prefabricated building components, themed environments, rockwork, and specialty finishes for many large projects in Florida, Texas, and New Jersey. The full permit This certainly sounds like the area could be getting a major upgrade, which we’re hoping means it’ll become an area open to guests once again. We have a feeling it would be VERY popular, especially if it brings back an option for kids! More Recent Disney Hotel News! In addition, there’s shuttle service to Disney World’s theme parks, and the hotel is within comfortable walking distance to Disney Springs. Early Entry at Disney’s Hollywood Studios So, let’s talk price: We compared a three-night stay at the DoubleTree Suites for the weekend of September 11th through the 13th, with checkout on the morning of the 14th… ©DoubleTree … with the same stay in a comparable room at Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort. ©Disney As you can see, the stay cost about $100 less per night… ©DoubleTree … which would end up saving just about $300 overall. ©Disney You can use those savings to dine in style at Disney World. Disney, are you trying to pull a fast one on us right now? ©Disney Right now, Disney is working on tons of projects like the upcoming Villains Land, Monstropolis Land, a new hotel, and more! While most of these projects won’t be open for a while, one of the biggest was supposed to open in 2027. That being said, Disney might have just quietly removed that opening timeline. Here’s what we know! So, Disney, what’s going on here? Recently, we noticed that the language on the Tropical Americas page has CHANGED. Previously, the website read “Get ready to journey to an 11-acre, immersive land in 2027. This Village of Hope will feature an exciting Encanto attraction, an action-packed Indiana Jones attraction, a woodcarver-themed carousel and more.” Now the updated language has removed any mention of 2027. ©Disney Does this mean Disney is pushing back that opening timeline? It might. We aren’t entirely convinced, though! There are still several places around the Disney World site that include the original opening timeline. For example, on the Disney Experiences site, the main page of the site details all of Disney’s upcoming projects. On this page, it still says, “set to open in 2027.” ©Disney Is Disney still set to open this new land next year? We will assume yes until the company says otherwise. We never assumed the land would open early in the year, so we’re hoping that Disney can still meet the end-of-year deadline even if it’s by December 31st, 2027. (We’re really hoping it won’t be that late, though!) The new entrance archway! Construction on the land is moving quickly with this project. We’ve seen the entranceway come to life, the new attractions grow, and more. That being said, it is still a lot of dirt right now, but that doesn’t mean they can’t reach that 2027 timeline. A better view Currently, Disney has also shared that Monstropolis will open in 2027 (although the coaster will open at a later date), and that area is a lot of dirt right now too! Just because it doesn’t look like too much right now doesn’t mean they can’t be ready in time for 2027. ©bioreconstruct from September 2026 We still have hope that we can check out the Tropical Americas next year, when Disney said it would originally open, but for now there are some questions in the air. The new land could open on time with one of (or both of) the main attractions experiencing a delayed opening, similar to Monstropolis. At the time of writing, Disney has not indicated that this will take place. Some of the latest permits for the land have indicated an April 2027 completion date on the work, meaning a spring or summer 2027 opening could be possible. That being said, permits can be changed or extended as needed. ©Disney The new land will include an Encanto attraction, an Indiana Jones attraction, a character carousel, a large quick service, and more! WWE and Disney are coming together for something big in 2027! ©Disney At the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference, TKO President and COO Mark Shapiro revealed that the two companies are discussing “special events.” It sounds like we’re going to be getting a lot more WWE on Disney+. Let’s take a look at the details! It was revealed that in 2027, WWE is going to be working more closely with Disney to reach a wider family audience. “When it comes to going after families, that’s our audience,” Shapiro said. “I think advertisers are starting to see that.” ©ESPN He then continued by saying, “Frankly, I’m excited about 2027 as we’re working with the Walt Disney Company on some special events around Disney and WWE and bringing those two audiences together since, of course, what do they have in common? Family.” ©Disney As of right now, there have been no specific format or event details announced as of right now. However, the comments made by Mark Shapiro confirm that there have been discussions between WWE and Disney, and continue to be. ©ESPN WWE and ESPN are entering the second year of a five-year domestic media rights agreement under which WWE Premium Live Events air exclusively on ESPN Unlimited in the United States. With Disney owning ESPN, the foundation is already there in terms of the relationship. ESPN Wide World of Sports As for right now, the plans for a future crossover are still in talks, but it sounds like they’re progressing. We’ll have to see if the WWE and Disney eventually turn those discussions into dedicated family-focused events. There’s a chance that 2027 could be a big year for the partnership. Listen, you guys, I’ve seen my fair share of bufoonery and monkey business and even crime in Tiny Train Town in Disney World, but never did I think folks would stoop this low! It’s a DISASTER! As the Mayor of the Tiny Train Town in the Germany Pavilion at EPCOT, I’m here to report to you a crime so heinous that it makes me sick to my stomach. We must find the culprit and apprehend them…I need your help! As you may recall, there was recently a HUGE update to Tiny Train Town, with a redesign of the town square, new buildings throughout the village, and many locations and figurines based on Disney movies and iconic parks characters. Shortly after, the town got an update for the Food & Wine Festival, complete with tiny food booths. It was incredible. Perfect. Wonderful. But then someone went and RUINED IT. The town had some changes recently! I’m here in despair to report that some of the absolute best new figurines in our miniature village have gone missing! And according to a Disney Cast Member, there is foul play involved. That’s right, park visitors have STOLEN some beloved Disney characters and I will not stand for it! Folks are MISSING And you know who exactly they’ve taken? The first victim is Dreamfinder, who was previously standing directly in front of this building. Listen folks, I know that Dreamfinder is coming back to EPCOT in the future, but that doesn’t mean you can have the tiny version of him all to yourself! He’s a joy to the public and deserves his spot of prominence for all to enjoy. Dreamfinder is gone! The other poor soul that has gone missing is the love of my life, Dr. Grant Seeker! You may recall him from the pre-show of DINOSAUR in Animal Kingdom (RIP). He was last seen in the town square, dino egg in hand. Now he has disappeared into the ether and my heart has been ripped out of my chest. I am SICK with worry! Dr. Seeker has been TAKEN Thankfully, police are on the scene investigating these disappearances. We’re collecting all the clues we can find. If you have any information about this robbery/kidnapping/heinous crime, please come forward and turn in the dastardly villain responsible. And you (yes, you, the thief) if you’re reading this, you are despicable! I hope your socks are always soggy, your pillow is always lumpy, and you never get the song you want on Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. Why must you ruin good things for other people?! The police are here! For more Tiny Train Town updates, keep following along with DFB! * The anarchy within is mostly created by natural occurrences, like giant squirrels, wind, rain, and relatively godzilla-sized lizards who frequent the town; but we find it fun and entertaining to make up fictional stories about what COULD be happening. We are grateful to the folks who create and maintain this Tiny Train Town for Disney World, as it’s one of our favorite parts of EPCOT and always has been. Halloween Horror Nights is OFFICIALLY underway at Universal Orlando, but it’s not just Universal Studios park that goes all out for this once-a-year event! Universal Orlando Halloween That’s right, even Universal Orlando hotels get decked out for spooky season, and some of them even have themed bars, drinks, eats, and the whole nine yards. We were invited by Universal to check out some of the Halloween offerings at their hotels, and we think we know where we’ll be spending spooky season from now on. Come check out everything we did! Halloween Horror Nights isn’t the only place at Universal Orlando to celebrate Halloween, as each of Universal’s hotels (aside from Helios Grand) features a special spooky offering that you don’t even need a park ticket or hotel reservation to enjoy. We stopped by the Royal Pacific Hotel’s Laguna Lounge — and this is the Halloween tiki bar of our dreams! Look who’s serving drinks! This limited-time lounge has taken over Jake’s American Bar and features a ton of Universal Monsters theming, plus Halloween drinks and food, too. If you are a Universal Monsters fan, this tiki bar is for you. It was so fun to see favorite Universal Monsters characters around the bar and disguised as tiki characters. Jake’s American Bar has been transformed We tried the Blood Moon Spritzer, which was a cool presentation; overall, it tasted like plain prosecco, with hard pomegranate seeds. It was refreshing but probably a skip if you’re looking for something more exciting. Blood Moon Spritzer The Black Sand Margarita was delicious, and it tasted like they used fresh ingredients, very orange-forward; we definitely would get this again as it was one of our favorite drinks of the afternoon. Black Sand Margarita The Spiced Island Spirit Mule mostly tasted like cinnamon and orange club soda, but it had a ton of fall flavors we really liked. Spiced Island Spirit Mule The Haunted Hideaway Buffalo Dip was absolutely delicious: creamy, cheesy, and the perfect amount of spice. They smoke the chicken, which gives the dip a nice smoky flavor that balances everything out nicely. The tortilla chips were nice and salty like any other tortilla chip, but they complemented the dip nicely. Haunted Hideaway Buffalo Dip The Kettle Chips were house-made kettle chips, crunchy and fresh, with a little bit of salt and pepper. Delicious, but again, nothing to write home about. These are served with the Cursed Luau Burger. Kettle Chips You can also order Halloween Horror Nights-themed food and drinks to your hotel room for room service at the Royal Pacific Hotel! Over at the Aventura Hotel, we headed to barVentura to see their Halloween offerings. The theming here wasn’t quite as elaborate as the theming at Royal Pacific, but it was still fun! There was an overall alien theme, and many of the food and drink offerings followed that theme as well. Aventura Hotel theming We tried the Alien Abduction, which was very Chambord-forward, while the vanilla flavor from the vodka is very subtle, with a bubbly berry flavor throughout each sip. This reminded us of a white bubbly sangria, and it was light and refreshing. Alien Abduction The Caffeinated Coven tasted like a very strong pumpkin foam cold brew in the best way. The flavor was delicious, with the perfect amount of cinnamon and pumpkin. The foam on top was a nice change from a traditional creamy espresso martini; it melts into the drink beautifully. Caffeinated Coven Resort guests also have a special, dedicated entrance to Halloween Horror Nights, which is just another reason why staying at Universal hotels during Halloween Horror Nights is an amazing option. One big change has been rolling out around Disney World recently. Do you know what it is? Disney’s Hollywood Studios If you guessed the new trash cans, you would be correct! In recent weeks, the Disney parks have been updating trash cans pair by pair to introduce new, solar-powered models. These high-tech cans have been a bit controversial among trash can die-hard fans so far, and now they’ve arrived in a new spot. The first sets of new trash cans have now arrived in Hollywood Studios! We spotted a pair of these solar-powered compacting cans on Hollywood Boulevard, right before you enter the new Walt Disney Studios area. This is a high-traffic zone, so it makes sense that they’d add some of these updated cans here. They’re in Hollywood Studios! Each set of these trash cans that we’ve seen have been themed to the area where they reside. These say “Please Help Keep Our City Clean” and feature a graphic of the Chinese Theatre, so they definitely have that Hollywood vibe going on. They’re bright green, so you can’t miss them! What do you think? As we mentioned before, these trash cans are solar powered so that they can compact the trash inside, meaning Cast Members can empty them less frequently. They also have foot pedals to open the doors, so you don’t have to touch the opening with your hands. New trash cans! We’ve already seen these cans in Animal Kingdom and EPCOT. They caused a particular stir in EPCOT for longtime festival fans, since eating on a trash can during EPCOT festivals is kind of a Disney fan rite of passage. Some more uniquely-designed trash cans in Disney World have also gotten their own “fan clubs” so swapping them out has resulted in angry commentary on social media. New trash cans at Animal Kingdom We’ll keep you in the loop with any more trash can news, so subscribe to our newsletter and follow us on social media. See More About the New Trash Cans Here! Disney World is a BIG place, and that means that it takes a lot of work to keep it up and running in tip-top shape. While seeing construction on your trip can take you out of the magic a little bit, it ultimately leads to new improvements that enhance the overall vacation experience. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort And, sure, construction can certainly complicate things, but that’s why we keep up with all of the projects so you can be prepared ahead of your next trip. Over at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, there’s a new way to enter by car, and it can be a little confusing if you’re not prepared for it. Here’s everything we know! The Grand Floridian hotel has a new entrance — sort of. The actual entrance gate is the same, but instead of using the southern roundabout on Floridan Way to get there, guests are rerouted to the northern roundabout. There is a “Grand Floridian Turn Right” sign before the roundabout, but it can be confusing if you don’t know what you’re looking for. Grand Floridian entrance gate There is still quite a bit of construction, especially near the new roundabouts and the entrance gates themselves. While you can enter through the normal, main gate, the exit is blocked off, and guests are being rerouted to a different exit. When we spoke to a Cast Member in the lobby of the Grand Floridian, they said that the northern roundabout will be the new entrance, and that they are hoping for the construction to be complete by mid-October. You can see on this view of Apple Maps of the area that it states construction will be complete by October 22nd. Of course, this could change, and we’ll keep you updated on any news we find out. ©Apple The new Floridian Way roundabouts were constructed in conjunction with updates to World Drive, designed to improve traffic control around Magic Kingdom and the Magic Kingdom resort area. As of now, the construction might be making things a bit more complicated, but hopefully when it’s all done, these traffic improvements will finally come to fruition. There’s also some Monorail construction going on at the Grand Floridian, but luckily the Monorail is still running to this resort — if that changes, we’ll let you know! If there’s one thing we know about Amazon, it’s that the activewear section never sits still for long. ©Shutterstock Just when we think we’ve found our go-to leggings or the perfect throw-on-and-go jacket, a whole new lineup shows up and completely resets our wishlist. This time, it’s a matching two-piece set that’s giving us major “pack it for the parks, wear it for the gym, live in it on travel days” energy — and we’re not exaggerating when we say we need it in every color. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Get this new set on Amazon! ©Amazon This set pairs a zip-up long-sleeve jacket with high-waisted leggings, so you get a coordinated look without having to actually coordinate anything yourself. That’s the kind of easy win we’re always here for, whether you’re getting ready for an early rope-drop walk, heading to a workout class, or just running errands before a trip. The two pieces are designed to work together (and separately), so you’re really getting more mileage out of one purchase — always a plus when we’re trying to stretch our shopping budget a little further. ©Amazon The jacket is the star of the top half, with a full-zip front and long sleeves that make it easy to layer up or cool down depending on how the day (or the Florida humidity) is treating you. Little details like a fitted collar and thumbhole cuffs help it feel more polished than your average zip-up, so it doesn’t read as “gym only” — you could easily throw it on over a tank for a park day without feeling like you forgot to get dressed. ©Amazon Then there are the leggings, which lean into that high-waisted, shaping fit that’s become the standard for this style of activewear. They’re built to stay put through a long day of walking (or a long workout, if that’s more your speed), with a supportive waistband that doesn’t dig in or roll down. Basically, this is the kind of set that looks put-together in photos but still lets you comfortably power through 20,000 steps — which, if you ask us, is the real test of any good activewear. The best part is the price, which you won’t believe! view ON AMAZON We’re always on the hunt for the latest and greatest Disney souvenirs and essentials, so don’t forget to stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for more! Everyone is heading over to Disney’s Hollywood Studios because The Magic of Disney Animation is finally open at the Walt Disney Studios. The Magic of Disney Animation What was once Star Wars: Launch Bay has now officially been turned into The Magic of Disney Animation, which is inspired by Walt Disney Animation Studios and the Roy E. Disney Animation Building. The building features Mickey’s famous Sorcerer Hat on top, and inside you’ll find a bunch of unique experiences that we can’t wait to try! Are you ready to step inside with us? This updated building is located in the Walt Disney Studios area of the park, the courtyard of which was refreshed and reopened a few months ago. In the area, you’ll also find Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! show and The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure show. Disney also moved the Hollywood Studios Baby Care Center to this land. The Walt Disney Studios Of course, though, the big highlight here is The Magic of Disney Animation, which opens officially on September 14th. We got the chance to get a sneak peek during a media event, and we’re taking you inside for the first time! The hat lights up at night! When you first walk under the marquee, you’ll find stroller parking on your left for the whole courtyard. This area is covered and shaded so your strollers will be safe in the rain. They’ve also replaced the old Star Wars artwork that was in here with stills from Disney animated films. Inside Stroller Parking After stroller parking, you’ll be greeted by this adorable photo op with characters from Disney films welcoming you to the Animation Studios. Make sure to stop and grab a family photo! Welcome to the Open House! Thankfully, there’s a map to help you find your way around The Magic of Disney Animation! There are a few main sections throughout. The map! When Disney first announced The Magic of Disney Animation, they said the new building will let you into the studio, “as the animators have temporarily stepped away,” and characters come to life and take over! Reception area This experience draws its inspiration from the Disney short Once Upon A Studio, which you’ll find on Disney+. Like the short, The Magic of Animation has its own moments in galleries where portraits come to life like they do in the short. Welcome to the Gallery! Just make sure you stand and watch for a minute to catch them moving! Portraits that come to life Throughout this building, there are dozens of fun hidden details to be on the lookout for. The lost and found is one of our favorites! Lost & Found Once you explore some of the outside and the galleries, there are experiences that are presented in four key areas in the building. We were very excited when Disney shared the floor plan a while back, and now we finally get to explore all those areas. So, let’s go! Olaf Draws Olaf Draws is a class where you can learn how to draw iconic Disney animated characters, led by the beloved snowman from Frozen in animatronic form. He sits at an animator’s desk, just like he does in the short film that the area is inspired by! Olaf Draws In Olaf Draws, each class features a different character! You may sketch any of the following in the class: Mickey Mouse, with Dan Abraham, director (Once Upon A Studio, Baymax!) Minnie Mouse, with Hyun Min Lee, animator (Frozen 2, The Princess and the Frog) Donald Duck, with Austin Traylor, animator (Once Upon A Studio, Moana 2) Genie, with Eric Goldberg, animator (Aladdin, Hercules) Moana, with Samantha Vilfort, story artist (Encanto, Zootopia 2) Stitch, with Fawn Veerasunthorn, director and head of story (Wish, Raya and the Last Dragon) Olaf, with Trent Correy, director (Once Upon A Studio, Frozen 3) Ursula, with Michael Woodside, animator (Big Hero 6, Encanto) Judy Hopps & Nick Wilde, with Byron Howard director, (Zootopia, Zootopia 2) How’s our Stitch? There are desks with stools throughout the area, which makes this space feel really intentional and put together, instead of just sitting in regular chairs with lap desks. Near the front of the room, there are sleigh-themed seats designed as a space for parents and small children to sit to get a better view. Olaf Draws desks If you want to attend this drawing class, there will be a schedule posted outside the entrance with times for each day. Disney Character Greetings at “Off the Page” Off the Page is where guests will meet beloved Disney characters across “six unique departments from the animation studio.” The departments include Story, Layout, Hand-Drawn Animation, Computer Animation, Lighting, and Effects. It’s Mulan! Some of the characters you can meet here include: Mulan in Story (posing in front of an oversized storyboard panel) Rapunzel in Layout ( in “a setting inspired by the classic multiplane camera”) Chip n’ Dale in Hand-Drawn Animation Off the Page! Donald and Daisy in CG Animation Goofy in Lighting This background is so cute! Stitch in Effects Hey Stitch! We love the chance to do character meet and greets indoors and in the air conditioning! Drawn to Wonderland Playground The Drawn to Wonderland Playground is an indoor play area featuring an “oversized flower garden with musical instruments, a Mad Tea Party playset, and a Tugley Wood exploration area.” So cool! This space was SERIOUSLY so cool for little kids, with funky lighting and fun sets to explore. Drawn to Wonderland Hollywood Studios has been missing a play area for several years now, so this will be an ideal space for kids to run off some energy in the middle of a day stuck in the stroller or waiting in lines. The Tugley Woods at Drawn to Wonderland Each of the activities here are immaculately themed to Alice in Wonderland. You can even paint the roses white or red! So fun! We know this is going to be a beloved addition for the parents and littles alike! The Once Upon A Studio Theater We mentioned Once Upon a Studio earlier; well, you can actually watch it here at the Once Upon A Studio Theater. The short film is so heartwarming, and if you’re a hardcore Disney fan, we highly recommend stopping by to watch it. Once Upon a Studio Shows will run throughout the day. The Studio Store Of course, there’s one more spot we need to check out! The Studio Store is the new gift shop next door. Let’s go inside! There’s a good selection of items in here, including apparel, accessories, toys, and home goods. Lots of clothing items However, we did notice some new things we wanted to highlight, like these Animation-inspired ears! LOVE these There’s an adorable matching shirt with Mickey Mouse, Dumbo, Donald, and more. The shirt! If you like that style, you’ll want to snag this blanket as well! They’re quite soft and they have some RARE Disney characters on them. Cute blanket! And of course, we can’t fail to mention this tumbler that feels very “Ink & Paint” in its design. A tumbler! We’re so excited that this new experience almost open, and we can’t wait to keep exploring it! For more of the latest Disney news and updates, make sure to stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog. Engineering challenges. House building. Back-to-school surprises. On July 31, students from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Coachella Valley, spent the day creating, collaborating and problem solving at the Children’s Discovery Museum of the Desert, just a few miles from Cotino, Storyliving by Disney’s first community in Rancho Mirage, California. The STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) experience, made possible by Storyliving by Disney, marked the third year of support for the museum and the local Boys & Girls Clubs programming. The event is part of Disney’s longstanding commitment to Boys & Girls Clubs of America, one of The Walt Disney Company’s most enduring nonprofit partners. For more than 50 years, Disney and Boys & Girls Clubs have worked together to help young people discover their potential, explore new opportunities, and build skills for the future. Click the image above to watch the video on the Storyliving by Disney’s Instagram The Experiment! That mission came to life in the Coachella Valley as kids from the Rancho Mirage area stepped into the role of engineers, inventors and problem-solvers during a hands-on Rube Goldberg challenge inside the museum’s Inquiry Lab. The space is equipped with a variety of STEAM activity materials funded by Storyliving by Disney such as 3D printers, a laser cutter and more. Working in teams, students tested ideas, refined designs, and celebrated every breakthrough. Their challenge: design a future home inspired by the Parr House that was both energy-efficient and accessible, then create a Rube Goldberg machine capable of opening its front door. “We started chatting a lot and played games. It was a lot of fun to build a pool, a little house, and make our door open,” said a fifth-grader team captain. The event also showcased the power of community collaboration. Through its partnership with the Children’s Discovery Museum of the Desert and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Coachella Valley, Storyliving by Disney is helping create more opportunities for young people to engage with STEAM learning year-round. “One of the best parts of this day was knowing the learning doesn’t stop when the event ends,” said Cindy Burreson, President and CEO of the Children’s Discovery Museum of the Desert. “Through partnerships like this, we’re not only introducing kids to new experiences, but giving them a reason to come back and keep exploring.” For Dr. Quinton Egson, President and CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Coachella Valley, the event represented something even bigger. “Partnerships enable us to move the needle in the community and help us help our kids reach their full potential. At the Boys and Girls Clubs we talk a lot about the three E’s; Education, experience and exposure and we’re hitting all three today on a big level. These partnerships are changing the community,” said Dr. Egington. The Surprise! The learning didn’t end when the activities were over. To help continue the spirit of discovery beyond the field trip, students were surprised with complimentary annual passes provided by Storyliving by Disney, giving them the opportunity to return and explore the museum alongside family and friends — extending their learning all year long. Storyliving by Disney also provided the children with backpacks filled with school supplies donated through Disney’s back-to-school initiative. 40 backpacks were assembled by Cotino cast members from across the community, who came together to help local students start the school year prepared for success. “It was the generosity and the enthusiasm of the cast members that drove the opportunity to pack the backpacks. It was incredibly rewarding for the cast members and VoluntEARS to support the local community,” said Cotino General Manager and Children’s Discovery Museum of the Desert Board Member, Anthony Henry. Complete with school essentials and a few Disney-themed surprises, the gifts reflected Disney’s ongoing commitment to supporting youth and giving back to the communities it calls home. “The backpack and school supplies were a big surprise for me. There were a little Minnie and Mickey Mouse figures in there. I really love Disney!” said one enthusiastic eighth grade student. “I was really excited about the membership, because I was going to ask my mom to come again. It’s fun and cool here!” added another fifth-grade student. For Storyliving by Disney, engaging with youth through organizations like Boys & Girls Clubs isn’t just about a single day or a single event; it’s about inspiring future generations. While the Rube Goldberg machines may have stopped rolling at the end of the day, the creativity, confidence, and inspiration sparked by the experience will continue long after students leave the museum. Most theme parks aren’t known for having good food, but there is one that stands out among the rest… Dollywood! CINNAMON BREAD! We recently stopped at this popular Tennessee theme park and grabbed a few bites at a couple of different places. Come with us to Front Porch Cafe and Till & Harvest Food Hall to see what we thought about our dishes! Front Porch Cafe Located on Showstreet, Front Porch Cafe is a table-service spot serving up appetizers, salads, sandwiches, signature entrees, and desserts inspired by some of Dolly’s favorite meals! And, of course, there’s something for the kiddos, too, with kids’ meals available for guests ages 9 and younger. Front Porch Cafe We couldn’t resist trying the Butterfly Chicken Club for $16.99! This sandwich comes piled high with marinated grilled chicken breast, smoked Gouda, bacon, leaf lettuce, beefsteak tomato, and chipotle aioli, all served on a fun butterfly-shaped pretzel. Butterfly Chicken Sandwich And when they say it’s served on a butterfly-shaped pretzel, they mean it! We’re talking TWO full-sized, actual pretzels (not pretzel bread), making for a seriously eye-catching sandwich. While they certainly look fun, the size of the pretzels did make this one a little tricky to eat. That said, the pretzels themselves were surprisingly good and definitely a step above the typical theme park pretzel. As for the grilled chicken, it wasn’t bad by any means, but it didn’t exactly steal the show. The chicken was well prepared and stayed nice and juicy, though we think it could have used a little more seasoning to give the sandwich some extra flavor. Butterfly Chicken Sandwich We felt pretty much the same way about the chipotle aioli. There was a generous amount of sauce on the sandwich, but we had a hard time picking up much of that signature chipotle kick. Of course, everyone’s palate is different, so you may notice more heat than we did! Our advice? Ask for the aioli on the side so you can add as much (or as little) as you’d like. The real standout for us was the smoked Gouda. It melted beautifully over the chicken and added a much-needed boost of flavor to the sandwich. And that smoky flavor? It almost made the whole thing feel a little gourmet! Butterfly Chicken Sandwich The bacon was cooked just right, while the lettuce and tomato brought a nice bit of freshness to the sandwich. You can choose between fries, potato chips, or a salad for your side, and we went with the house-made potato chips. These had the perfect crunch — not burnt, not soggy, and just the right amount of crisp! We also loved that they weren’t overly salty, giving them plenty of flavor without overpowering the sandwich. Butterfly Chicken Sandwich We also decided to try the Vegan Steak for $21.99. This hearty plant-based entree comes with sweet potato puree, red onion marmalade, and oven-roasted mushrooms for a flavorful combination. We found this to feel much more like a short rib than a steak — the plant-based “meat” was incredibly tender, with pieces easily pulling apart with just a fork. It was also very juicy and packed with flavor. Vegan Steak The combination worked especially well with the sweet butternut squash puree, rich roasted mushrooms, and flavorful onion jam, creating a really satisfying bite from start to finish. Overall, Front Porch Cafe is a great option if you’re looking for a reasonably priced meal with a cozy, welcoming feel. The food is high quality, while the bright, clean surroundings give the restaurant a slightly more upscale atmosphere. Since Dollywood doesn’t offer advance dining reservations, we recommend planning your meal outside of peak dining times and checking in early to help avoid a longer wait. Front Porch Cafe Till & Harvest Food Hall We also stopped by Till & Harvest Food Hall in Wildwood Grove, where you’ll find a variety of classic American favorites. We started with the Smoky Mountain Nachos for $13.99, featuring red, white, and dark blue corn chips piled high with chicken, barbecue sauce, shredded cheese, and pico de gallo. The barbecue sauce definitely leaned toward the sweeter side, with a flavor pretty similar to the classic bottled BBQ sauce you’d find at your local grocery store. Smoky Mountain Nachos This chicken was anything but dry and rubbery — it was cooked very well, like most of the chicken you’ll find around the theme park! We also LOVED the generous amount of cheese on these nachos! It was spread throughout the dish so well that we got plenty of cheesy goodness in every bite. The pico de gallo added a nice pop of freshness without making the chips soggy, which is always a win when it comes to nachos. Overall, there was a lot of flavor happening here, and all of the toppings worked really well together. Smoky Mountain Nachos We also decided to try an off-menu item: The Vegan Burger for $15.49. This comes with a Beyond Burger served completely undressed on a roll that has the look and feel of a brioche bun, with a smooth top and surprisingly good quality. All of the toppings and condiments were served on the side, which we really appreciated. It’s a small detail, but it shows that Dollywood takes dietary restrictions seriously and gives guests more control over what goes on their meal. Vegan Burger The toppings on the side included lettuce, tomato, onions, and pickles, and the condiments included Dollywood’s signature barbecue sauce, ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise (for those who are not plant-based), and relish. Salt and pepper also came on the side. The kitchen also asked if we wanted cheese added, which gives an option for vegetarians. Vegan Burger As for the Beyond Burger itself, this was a pretty substantial patty and noticeably larger than some of the vegan burgers we’ve had at Disney World. The flavor was pretty standard for a Beyond patty, so we added a couple of salt packets to give it a little extra flavor. The fresh toppings definitely helped brighten things up. The burger comes with crinkle-cut fries, and you may want to grab a salt packet for those as well. We took things one step further and dipped ours in the Dollywood Classic Barbecue, and it was delicious! Vegan Burger Since it’s an off-menu item, you’ll need to head to the register to order it. But don’t worry — this isn’t some secret menu item you’ll have to explain to the cashier. The host knew exactly what we were talking about when we ordered it! Till & Harvest Food Hall The Dollywood Classic Barbecue Sauce was definitely vinegar-forward, but it still had a touch of sweetness that gave it an interesting flavor. It actually reminded us a little of macaroni salad or coleslaw! Compared to a classic Heinz barbecue sauce, Dollywood’s version is thinner, less sweet, and much more vinegar-heavy. It may not be a flavor you’re used to, but since it’s a Dollywood recipe, we think it’s worth giving it a try! Dollywood Classic Barbecue Sauce We’d recommend stopping by Till & Harvest Food Hall if you want a high-quality meal without committing to a full table-service experience. There’s plenty to choose from, too, including chicken tenders, salads, and loaded fries, so there’s something for just about everyone! Till & Harvest Food Hall And what’s a day at Dollywood without dessert? Be sure to grab yourself the Cinnamon Bread or exclusive flavor of Dippin’ Dots to end your day right!
