Disney World has trained us to operate on a fairly warped vacation clock. You can be standing in a theme park before 8 AM, eat a Mickey waffle while most sensible people are still locating their shoes, ride three attractions before 10 AM, and feel like you’ve already lived an entire day by the time lunch rolls around. Which is why it can be particularly jarring to walk up to a Disney World restaurant at 11 AM and discover that the place isn’t even open yet. We went through the restaurants currently listed on Disney World’s website and checked their posted operating hours. And quite a few table-service restaurants don’t open until AFTER 11 AM. Some wait until 11:30 AM. Others don’t start serving until noon or 12:30 PM. And then there are the dinner-only restaurants that won’t even consider feeding you until 4 PM, 5 PM, or later. Cinderella Castle Hours can change depending on the date, so you should always double-check the Disney World website or My Disney Experience app before making your plans. And if you’re someone who likes an early lunch? You need to know about these. Most of these offenders live in EPCOT since the World Showcase doesn’t officially open until 11 AM. Listing all of the Disney World lounges would also fill up this page, but we’ve left a handy-dandy list at the bottom for ya! Tutto Italia Tutto Italia Ristorante in EPCOT doesn’t begin lunch until 12:30 PM. Lunch currently runs from 12:30 PM to 3:55 PM, followed by dinner from 4 PM to 9 PM. That is a perfectly normal lunch hour in plenty of places. It feels remarkably late when you’ve already been walking around EPCOT for four hours. Tutto Italia If you’re planning to hit World Showcase when it opens and immediately find a table-service lunch, Tutto Italia is not your 11 AM answer. Fortunately, you’re in EPCOT. Ride Living with the Land again. She’ll take care of you until lunch. Of ALL the Restaurants in EPCOT, Should Tutto Italia Be On Your List? We Found Out. Le Cellier Over in the Canada Pavilion, Le Cellier Steakhouse currently starts lunch at 12 PM and serves it until 3:55 PM. Dinner follows from 4 PM to 9 PM. This one is particularly worth knowing because Le Cellier is a popular reservation. Sauce Flight If you usually schedule a sit-down meal around 11 AM to escape the midday crowds, you’re going to need to adjust that strategy here. The good news is that a noon reservation works nicely as a true middle-of-the-day break. The bad news is that your Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup is not interested in your 11:17 AM problems. Le Cellier Has a NEW Menu in Disney World — Come Try it With Us! Biergarten Germany is also apparently enforcing a strict definition of lunchtime. Biergarten Restaurant opens at noon, with lunch from 12 PM to 3:55 PM and dinner from 4 PM to 8 PM. Biergarten Restaurant That’s especially useful if you’re traveling with kids and planning around naps, breaks, or an afternoon return to your hotel. Noon means noon. The schnitzel has boundaries. REVIEW: It’s EPCOT’s Liveliest Restaurant, But Is There Anything Not to Love About Biergarten? Chefs de France Keep walking around World Showcase, and you’ll find another noon starter. Chefs de France currently serves lunch from 12 PM to 3 PM, followed by dinner from 4 PM to 8:55 PM. Again, this isn’t particularly strange restaurant timing outside a theme park. Chefs de France Inside EPCOT, however, there is a very real possibility you’ve already crossed several countries, stood in three lines, bought something you absolutely did not need in Mitsukoshi, and begun discussing lunch with the intensity of a military operation. REVIEW: Have Lunch With Us (and the BEST Dessert!) at Chefs de France in EPCOT San Angel Inn Restaurante EPCOT is where this situation starts getting interesting. San Angel Inn Restaurante opens at 11:30 AM, serving lunch until 3:55 PM before dinner begins at 4 PM. San Angel Inn This one is particularly easy to assume will be open earlier because the Mexico pavilion itself is bustling long before then. You can ride Gran Fiesta Tour, wander the shops, contemplate buying another tequila-themed souvenir, and still discover that the restaurant beneath that permanently moonlit sky isn’t ready for lunch yet. Katsura Grill Quick-service does NOT automatically mean early service. Katsura Grill in EPCOT’s Japan Pavilion currently opens at 11:30 AM, so anyone hoping to grab an early bowl, sushi, or teriyaki meal will have to hold out a little longer. Disney currently lists the location as operating from 11:30 AM to 9 PM. Breakfast sushi and teriyaki isn’t a thing in the Japan Pavilion, but if you’re ready for lunch, wander over here around 11:30 AM or later. REVIEW & PHOTOS: Katsura Grill Is a Hidden Gem Worth Trying In EPCOT Regal Eagle Smokehouse Regal Eagle Smokehouse in EPCOT’s American Adventure pavilion doesn’t open until 11:45 AM. So if you finish your morning lap around World Showcase and start dreaming about brisket, ribs, or mac and cheese at 11 AM, you’ve still got a little waiting to do. And 45 minutes can feel remarkably long when you’ve been awake since before sunrise and your brain has already committed to barbecue. Regal Eagle Smokehouse It’s a good reminder that even Disney World’s counter-service restaurants don’t all follow the typical 10:30 or 11 AM lunch schedule. Check those hours before you make the trek across World Showcase with smoked meat in your heart. If You Like Polite Pig, You Might Also Like Regal Eagle Smokehouse in Disney World Space 220 Even leaving Earth doesn’t get you an 11 AM lunch. Space 220 Restaurant currently opens for lunch at 11:30 AM, with lunch running until 3:30 PM and dinner from 4 PM to 9 PM. Thirty minutes may not sound like much, but Disney schedules have a funny way of making thirty minutes a pivot threshold between making your next Lightning Lane attraction or not. Let’s go to space! If you’ve built your EPCOT day around an early table-service meal before tackling the afternoon, don’t assume Space 220 will be ready the moment your stomach is. The space elevator has an operating schedule. 9 NEW Reasons To Visit Space 220 in EPCOT (Including FREE Souvenirs!) Nine Dragons Over in the China pavilion, Nine Dragons Restaurant starts lunch at 12 PM. Lunch lasts until 2:55 PM, with dinner beginning at 3 PM and running until 9 PM. This is another one that can catch you off guard if you’re wandering World Showcase looking for an early sit-down option. Meal at Nine Dragons Your feet may have arrived in China at 11:16 AM, but you’ll still have to wait to grab those dumplings. REVIEW: Is Nine Dragons in EPCOT Better Than Your Local Chinese Restaurant? We Found Out Tiffins EPCOT isn’t the only park with a late starter. Over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Tiffins Restaurant currently begins lunch at 11:30 AM. This is a Signature Dining restaurant, so it’s already more likely to be a planned meal than an impulsive “we need food immediately” stop. Bao Buns Still, that half-hour difference can matter if you’ve been in Animal Kingdom since Early Entry and you’re attempting to escape the heat before noon. NEWS: Tiffins Has a NEW Prix Fixe Burger in Disney World, but There’s a Catch La Hacienda Now we leave the slightly-late lunches and enter an entirely different category. La Hacienda de San Angel in EPCOT does not open until 4 PM. Tacos de Langosta That makes this one particularly easy to confuse with its neighbor, San Angel Inn Restaurante, which begins lunch at 11:30 AM inside the Mexico pavilion. Similar names. Same pavilion. Very different answer when you show up looking for tacos at noon. Queso, Tacos, and Amazing Service? Our REVIEW of La Hacienda de San Angel in EPCOT Story Book Dining And now we’ve reached my beloved Wilderness Lodge. I will defend Wilderness Lodge with unreasonable enthusiasm, but even I cannot make Story Book Dining at Artist Point with Snow White serve you lunch. It is a dinner-only experience, currently operating from 4 PM to 9:15 PM. Storybook Dining at Artist Point You can absolutely arrive earlier, admire the lobby, stare lovingly at the fireplace, wander outside, and contemplate simply moving into the resort permanently. Dinner still starts at 4. DFB Video: Reviewing EVERY Restaurant in Disney World – Story Book Dining at Artist Point With Snow White Sebastian’s Bistro At Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Sebastian’s Bistro doesn’t open until 4:30 PM and currently serves dinner until 9:30 PM. Coconut-Pineapple Bread Pudding If you’re staying at Caribbean Beach and looking for a sit-down lunch without leaving the resort, don’t assume Sebastian’s is an option simply because the restaurant is sitting right there. It has places to be later. California Grill Some of Disney World’s Signature Dining restaurants operate strictly as evening destinations. California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort currently opens at 5 PM and serves dinner until 10 PM. Wagyu Strip Loin at California Grill That makes sense for a restaurant known partly for its evening views over Magic Kingdom, but it’s still worth remembering if you’re visiting the Contemporary during the afternoon. California Grill has no interest in your lunch plans. PERFECT PASTA NEWS: California Grill Is Bringing Back One of Our FAVORITE Menu Items! Some Restaurants Start Even Later At Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, Victoria & Albert’s currently begins dinner service at 5:30 PM. Over at EPCOT, Monsieur Paul also begins dinner at 5:30 PM, making these true evening dining experiences rather than restaurants you can casually wander into earlier in the day. Jiko Other resort restaurants including Jiko, Narcoossee’s, Flying Fish, Boatwright’s Dining Hall, Maya Grill, and Capa all begin service around 5 PM. Basically, Disney World may be awake at sunrise, some of its restaurants are just not giving off breakfast energy. Disney World Dining Locations That Open After 11AM For this list, we’re looking at restaurant and lounge listings whose first posted operating time is after 11AM. Restaurant opening hours shouldn’t be the thing that takes you down. Yum! The biggest thing to remember is that “lunch restaurant” does not automatically mean “open at 11 AM.” That’s especially true in EPCOT, where noon and even 12:30 PM openings are surprisingly common. And if you’ve got your heart set on one of Disney World’s dinner-only restaurants, don’t expect to sneak in for an early afternoon meal. Some of these dining rooms aren’t opening those doors until 4 PM, 5 PM, or even 5:30 PM. Morimoto Asia So check your restaurant’s hours before you build the rest of your Disney day around it. Calling all believers! The next ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet, the Disney Believe, is expected in 2027, which means there is plenty of magic at sea waiting just beyond the horizon. And if you’re as excited as we are, you may be wondering – what venues and entertainment are coming to the ship, and – most importantly – how can you get onboard to experience it for yourself? We recently shared a few announcements at D23: The Ultimate Fan Event about the Disney Believe. Aboard the ship, you’ll be greeted by Moana and her friends in the Grand Hall, see Woody and Buzz adorning the back of the ship, and get a little touch of pixie dust with Tinker Bell on the bow. But that’s just the beginning! If you’re ready to learn what else is in store for our newest ship, we have some exciting news for you. HEADS UP! An entire Universal park is closing until 2027, and now our bathing suits just look sad. Volcano Bay at Universal Orlando Universal has been growing and changing a lot over the last few years. Classic attractions have closed, new ones are on the horizon, and we’re still feeling the high of Epic Universe opening last year. If you’re planning on making the trek to Orlando for some theme park fun, you should consider reorganizing your plans. Volcano Bay is closing next month, and you won’t be able to go for a dip again until 2027! The Universal park, which Universal does consider a full fourth park, is closing on October 26, 2026. The closure is due to planned maintenance to the water park. Volcano Bay This isn’t unusual for the water park; it typically has a seasonal closure each year when the temperatures drop. Despite what you might be thinking, it does get too cold in Florida to swim sometimes! Universal uses this time to work on several attractions as well as general park refurbishment. Previously, this closure was scheduled to end on March 24th, 2027; however, that has changed. Krakatau! The water park now has a planned opening on April 1st, 2027, but that is subject to change! The park has already changed quite a bit over the last year or so with the removal of the TapuTapu bands. These bands were free to park guests during your visit, and they allowed guests to tap into a virtual queue for more popular attractions so you didn’t have to wait in insanely long lines! ©Universal We were truly sad when Universal confirmed the removal of these bands because they made the park even more fun and accessible for us! They gave us the ability to maximize our day and avoid being stuck in the sun in long lines. While we were sad to see them go, we still love Volcano Bay! Volcano Bay The park offers roughly 18 different rides and attractions, some truly delicious snacks, and an amazing, relaxing atmosphere that can be sorely needed after a few theme park days. This lengthy closure joins several others around Universal property, including the refurbishment of Universal’s Horror Make Up Show and the permanent closure of Animal Actors on Location. Going to Disney World soon? You should know that a lot of it is closed right now. Okay, maybe not the majority of things, but it does feel like you need to wear a hard hat wherever you go these days. Magic Kingdom A huge chunk of Animal Kingdom is closed and not reopening until next year, Hollywood Studios is having a slight identity crisis, and Magic Kingdom is going through it. Now, another closure has started in Magic Kingdom, and this time it’s for a classic attraction. The Walt Disney World Railroad is officially closed in Magic Kingdom! The classic Magic Kingdom attraction is being refurbished, but luckily, it won’t be another year-long closure for the train. Disney World Cast Members aboard the Walt Disney World Railroad. Online, Disney confirmed the closure would kick off on September 28th, so no more riding around Tomorrowland. If you’re unaware, due to construction projects like Villains Land, the train has only been going between Fantasyland and Main Street for quite a while now, which is called “shuttle mode.” Thankfully, the train has a planned reopening on October 30th. WDW Railroad car This closure joins several more in Magic Kingdom! In addition to new land developments like Villains Land and Piston Peak (the Cars-inspired land), the Carousel of Progress is currently closed in Tomorrowland. The classic Disney attraction closed in July 2026 to be totally reimagined! Carousel of Progress Display at Walt Disney Presents The new version of the show will feature entirely new scenes. The first scene will be set in the 1960s, starting with the moon landing in 1969. The second will be in the 1980s, with Mother showing off her latest kitchen appliances and gadgets. The third act will take us to 1999 on New Year’s Eve, while the final scene will show a possible future. There will also be a scene with the Walt Disney animatronic similar to the one currently in Disneyland. Carousel of Progress Concept Art ©Disney Disney has shared that Bryan Cranston will be voicing Father, while Jamie Lee Curtis will be voicing Mother. That is a HUGE deal to us! We’ve also seen sneak peeks at the costumes and set designs. The show is expected to reopen in Spring 2027. If you are a Disney World local, then it’s likely you either attended or are familiar with the University of Central Florida. This is one of the largest schools in the country, and many students who attend go on to work at Disney World. ©UCF Well, now Walt Disney World is sponsoring UCF Athletics with the Disney logo appearing on the back of the Football helmets! The University of Central Florida shared that this year the UCF Football team debuted their new helmets during a home game on September 26th. We might be visiting 17 Cherry Tree Lane once again, because we are hearing rumors that a Mary Poppins show might just be in the works. ©Disney This is one of the most exciting movie and TV rumors we’ve heard in a long time, so let’s get into all of the details we have so far about this new show. Deadline has shared that a new Mary Poppins TV show is in the works, currently in the very early stages of development. They also shared that in this new adaptation, “rather than retelling the Disney film Mary Poppins starring Julie Andrews and Van Dyke from the 1960s, we understand the live-action TV adaptation plans to go back to P. L. Travers’ original eight Mary Poppins books and open up the larger, stranger world she created.” ©Disney The Mary Poppins books are far more mysterious, magical, dangerous, and even at times slightly frightening, compared to the 1960’s film. The series is set to be produced and developed by Tom Winchester for Pure Fiction Television, after he optioned the rights from the P.L. Travers estate. ©Disney This production is still in the early stages of development and in conversations with Disney. Deadline also explained that “Winchester is approaching top-level showrunners. As we understand it, the project doesn’t need Disney’s buy-in from a rights perspective, but there’s hope the studio might want to join the project given their history with the IP. The DFB team goes to Disney World every day, and here are the essentials that are worth the money! We always come prepared! Anyone who’s spent a full day in Disney World knows a great park day lives and dies by what’s in your bag. After years of testing gear on actual park days we have sweated through the heat, stood in line at Cosmic Ray’s, traded pins and tried snacks and these are the ten products we keep coming back to. Get this waist fan to stay cool! Our AMKEN Waist Fan on our waist If you’re someone who runs hot, especially through your torso, this AMKEN Waist Fan is a total game-changer. It clips to a belt, your shorts, or even props up on a quick-service tray to blast air at your face (it made a huge difference supplementing the A/C at Cosmic Ray’s). It also doubles as a phone cooler when your device starts overheating in the sun, and it comes with a built-in LED flashlight with a steady and flashing hazard mode, plus USB-C charging. I was skeptical of a no-name Amazon brand strapped to my waist, but it won me over completely. AMKEN Waist Fan The trade-off is noise — it runs like a mini vacuum cleaner on high, which is the only setting worth using since anything lower barely moves air for the weight you’re carrying. Battery life blew me away, though: it ran nearly two hours on high with all three battery lights still lit, and lasted about four hours total. The real standout is the backing — it’s designed so pins snap on securely and don’t shift or fall out, even when you flip the whole thing upside down and shake it. Popping pins on and off for a trade takes seconds, with zero digging around. It’s also compact enough that if you collect pins bigger than the standard one-inch size, you’ll fill it up fast — Pinfolio does make larger sizes if that’s a concern. view ON AMAZON We love these straps to keep on your popcorn bucket! GRIFITI Band If you’ve ever tried to juggle a popcorn bucket, a stroller, and a toddler’s hand at the same time, this simple strap solves that problem. It clips around the bucket so you can wear it hands-free or hook it to the outside of your bag, which is perfect if you want to save interior space for your other essentials. It comes in a multi-pack, so you can color-coordinate or share with your group. If you want to snack between attractions, you also have to hold the lid steady while you grab popcorn or the band can slip loose. None of that is a dealbreaker, though — it’s one of those things that becomes hard to go without once you’re used to having it. view ON AMAZON You can grab our favorite reusable utensils! Reusable Travel Utensils Set These Reusable Travel Utensils are sturdier than the flimsy plastic ones handed out at Disney World’s quick-service spots, with enough weight to them that they actually function the way they look like they should. They come in their own slim carrying case, so they barely take up any room in a park bag. We are always testing products! They’re also easy to clean discreetly on the go, which matters more than you’d think when you’re eating on the move between attractions. It’s the kind of item you toss in your bag “just in case” and end up using more than expected — a small, easy addition that solves a problem you didn’t realize you had until you needed it. view ON AMAZON Don’t forget these reusable straws too! Silicone straw set I’ve never been a reusable-straw person because of the cleaning and keeping track of them always felt like more hassle than it was worth, but these Reusable Flexible Straws changed my mind. Unlike stiffer or collapsible reusable straws, these hold their shape while you’re drinking instead of bending awkwardly, then fold flat for easy storage and cleanup. They come in a range of color combinations, which makes it simple to tell whose straw is whose in a bigger group. Reusable straw I put them through a real stress test with a thick frozen drink, and they held up perfectly. With Disney World rolling out its “skip the straw” initiative, having your own straw on hand is becoming more useful than ever, and these are an easy, no-downside way to do it. view ON AMAZON Get this mini umbrella for your park bag! BAODINI Travel Mini Umbrella Sure, you’ve heard of umbrellas for rain, and they usually work pretty well. Maybe you’ve actually seen regular umbrellas used to keep the sun off of people as well! Again, a very smart idea, but sometimes it doesn’t work super well. We’ve tried the BAODINI Travel Essentials Mini Umbrella on some of the hottest days of the year and are NOT JOKING when we say it drops the temperature underneath it by 5-10 degrees instantly. I was in the park with one of my coworkers who was trying this out, and it was a RELIEF — I wanted to stay under it all day, and plan to grab myself one before summer comes around again (I very much regretted not having one this past year). view ON AMAZON This is our favorite reusable poncho! Our favorite poncho! Florida’s afternoon storms are notoriously unpredictable, and this Frogg Toggs Poncho is the one I now automatically pack. It’s lightweight, made from decent-quality material, and comes with its own small pouch so it doesn’t soak or tangle with everything else in your bag once you’ve used it. I’ll admit ponchos aren’t usually my thing, but this one won me over — no complaints about the fit, feel, or function. If you’re headed to the parks during a rainy stretch, this is a no-question pack item, and the included pouch alone makes it worth grabbing over a bulkier alternative. view ON AMAZON We love Fuelrods! You can never have enough! You will be on your phone a LOT while in Magic Kingdom. Between taking photos and videos and checking wait times, your phone battery will drain fast. You don’t want to be stuck with a dead phone at 1 PM with the rest of the day ahead of you. FuelRod Our favorite portable charger are FuelRods. There are kiosks throughout all of Disney World where you can swap out your dead FuelRod for a new one for FREE. So no need to stress every night about recharging it, you simply head to a kiosk and swap it out for a fully charged new one. view ON AMAZON You can grab this Owala Disney Princess bottle! We love Owalas! This might be my new favorite water bottle, Disney-branded or not. It’s a 24oz Owala with a switch between straw and spout, done up in a subtle Ariel-inspired colorway with a shimmery seashell detail. It does not leak, a real point of difference from other bottles, and the insulation is genuinely impressive: I put ice in at 8 AM and still had ice in the bottle over 24 hours later, after a full day out in the sun. Little Mermaid Owala Staying hydrated at the parks is non-negotiable, and this bottle makes it painless. I refilled it three to five times on a full park day at the free refill stations, which saved both money and the hassle of buying $5 bottled water. The only real complaint is that the exterior seems to attract dirt and smudges more than I’d like. Everything else about it exceeded my expectations. Ummm, did we just get a sneak peek at two upcoming Disney World attractions? On our last visit to Hollywood Studios, we stopped by Walt Disney Presents, which showcases a ton of Disney history, props, models, and occasionally previews of upcoming projects, where we saw two NEW Displays. Monster Squirrels That’s right, we just got new displays for both Monstropolis and the updated Carousel of Progress, and we are bringing you ALL the details. Every time we visit Hollywood Studios, we make sure to stop by Walt Disney Presents just to check and see if any new displays catch our eye. Walt Disney Presents And on our last trip, we saw not one but two new displays dedicated to new projects coming to Disney World. Starting with some brand-new concept art and details for Monstropolis, the new Monsters, Inc. land coming to Hollywood Studios. Starting with a collection of concept art, some of which we’ve seen, while some is brand-new! Monstropolis Concept Art We have seen both the concept art for the entrance of the land… Monstropolis Entrance …as well as the “Welcome to Monstropolis” show concept art, but the rest is new! “Welcome to Monstropolis” Starting with the Harryhausen’s Restaurant concept art showing guests dining in the iconic restaurant from the movie with the Harryhausen animatronic behind them. Harryhausen’s Concept Art There is also new concept art showing the entrance and outdoor Marquee sign for “Welcome To Monstropolis” at the Glob Theater. Glob Theater Concept Art And finally, we also got a look at the interior lobby of the “Welcome to Monstropolis” show, which appears to include a Monsters Concession Stand. We do not yet know if this will be an actual stand that will serve monster-themed food or is just part of the theming, but we are excited to find out! “Welcome to Monstropolis” Lobby Concept Art In addition to the concept art, we saw figures of some of the animals we can expect to find in the land, including monster pigeons… Monster Pigeons …monster bunnies (which can be seen in the “Welcome to Monstropolis” concept art)… Monster Bunnies …and monster squirrels. Now, there was also a display showcasing some details for the new Carousel of Progress coming to Magic Kingdom. New Disney patent alert! Everyone, listen up because whenever Disney drops a new patent, it usually means something very interesting is on the horizon. TRON Lightcycle / Run And it looks like this newest patent could potentially use AI, Artificial Intelligence, to detect issues with ride systems through “listening” to the ride. Let’s dive into exactly what this means. This patent was originally filed in March of 2026 and was officially published on September 24th, 2026. Essentially, this patent is for a new AI technology that would help to more quickly identify issues within the mechanics of Disney rides. This detection would be done through the AI “listening” for issues on the attraction. ©USPTO The technology is broken down into two different systems that would act as learning models, taking bits of audio from around the attraction. One system would be responsible for filtering out any background noise or voices. The other could detect any issues or deviations from the normal sounds of the machinery and equipment of the attraction in order to point out any potential issues or problems that need to be addressed. ©USPTO The goal of these new systems and technology is to detect issues earlier and be able to create less downtime and maintenance on attractions. This system is also set to be much more effective, reliable, and quicker than if there were a team dedicated to listening/looking out for issues on an attraction. ©USPTO The hope is to make the theme park experience more enjoyable by having the rides open more frequently. As we know, it is very common to see several rides experiencing downtime throughout any given day at Disney, so it will be interesting to see if this patented technology will really be able to cut back on this occurrence. Going on vacation with a food allergy can feel overwhelming, but our team is sharing their favorite Gluten-Free items at Disney World! Hello, beautiful Eating gluten-free at Disney World used to mean a lot of pre-trip research and a little bit of anxiety about what you’d actually get to eat once you were there. These days, that’s changed dramatically because Disney’s Mobile Order feature now lets guests filter menus specifically for gluten- and wheat-allergy-friendly items right from the My Disney Experience app, and nearly every counter-service and table-service spot on property has a plan in place for guests with dietary restrictions. Our team has logged a lot of meals around Disney World over the years — some of us eating gluten-free ourselves, others learning the ropes from close friends who’ve been navigating it for over a decade — so we put together a realistic, meal-by-meal plan built entirely on what we’ve actually eaten (and loved) in the parks and at Disney Springs. One quick tip before we dive in: if you want extra help planning around a special diet, Disney’s Special Diets team asks that you reach out no earlier than 14 days before your trip, either by phone at (407) 824-5967 or by email — they can give advance notice to the restaurants on your itinerary. Gluten-Free Mickey Beignets (Scat Cat’s Club Cafe & Sassagoula Floatworks, Port Orleans Resort) — These come in a rotating lineup of flavors, including Chocolate, Cinnamon Sugar, and Raspberry, and our team can personally vouch that they’re worth the trip to Port Orleans on their own. Crystal Palace — A go-to for Gluten-Free families who want a character breakfast without the stress. Cast Members here are used to bringing out safe, gluten-free versions of buffet items table-side rather than leaving guests to guess. Gluten-Free Beignets Lunch Backlot Express — This is a team favorite that we’d genuinely be upset to see change. The allergy-friendly chicken strips come served with a choice of carrot sticks or French fries, and they hold their own against the “regular” version. Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café — The Angus cheeseburger here is available as a gluten/wheat allergy-friendly option, making it an easy, reliable lunch for anyone touring Tomorrowland. Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Café — Another Frontierland staple that’s proven to be a safe, satisfying midday stop, according to our team’s longtime GF-dining friend. San Angel Inn — Worth requesting the tortilla chips here, which can be cooked in a dedicated fryer for a safer, cross-contamination-conscious option. Backlot Express Dinner The Boathouse — This spot has a full, dedicated gluten-free menu and a strong reputation for being celiac-friendly. Our team has ordered the gluten-free mac and cheese more than once and it’s just as good as the “real” thing — and the signature Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes can also be made gluten-free with just a quick request to your server. Raglan Road Irish Pub — Fish and chips are the move here, though guests with a sesame allergy on top of gluten should ask about the tartar sauce, since the standard version isn’t safe for that combination. Chefs de France — Consistently one of the more accommodating table-service spots on property, with staff who are receptive to walking guests through substitutions. The Boathouse Snacks Erin McKenna’s Bakery — The gold standard for GF snacking on property. Every single item in the case is certified vegan, gluten-free, and free of the top allergens, including dairy, eggs, soy, and refined sugar, and the Disney Springs location is even certified kosher. Our team can’t say enough good things about how genuinely delicious everything here tastes, allergy-friendly or not. Popcorn and Dole Whip — The classic combo for a reason. Both are naturally gluten-free and available at carts throughout every park, making them the easiest snack win in all of Disney World. Grilled Corn on the Cob at Disney’s Animal Kingdom — Simple, satisfying, and completely fuss-free — no allergy menu required. Churros at Nomad Lounge — Our team has taste-tested the gluten-free version and found them comparable to the regular churros — a must whenever we’re in the park. Ice Cream from L’Artisan Des Glaces — For a genuinely low-cross-contamination treat, the France Pavilion will scoop gluten-free ice cream straight from a separate container in the back. Erin McKenna’s Bakery Don’t Forget: You Can Bring Your Own Snacks Into the Parks Here’s a tool that’s easy to forget about: Disney World allows guests to bring outside food and non-alcoholic drinks into the parks in a small cooler or bag. For gluten-free guests especially, that means you’re never totally at the mercy of a park menu with a stash of safe snacks in your bag is a completely legitimate backup plan for those in-between moments. Ordering items ahead of time is cheaper Instead of packing groceries from home or making an emergency Publix run, our team’s favorite move is having Amazon Fresh delivered straight to the resort before the trip even starts: Delivery fees are refreshingly reasonable — $9.95 on orders under $50, $6.95 on orders between $50–$100, and completely free once you hit $100. All your usual name-brand favorites are there too, from diapers to sunscreen, so it’s not just a generic-brand situation. Yes, they carry actual fresh food — pre-cut fruit, cheese and cracker platters, and other grab-and-go options that make packing a GF snack bag way easier. You can get same-day delivery or reserve a window up to three days out, so it’s easy to plan around your arrival time. Delivery works just like any other resort delivery — everything gets dropped at Bell Services, and they’ll keep perishables cold until you’re ready to grab them. It’s no secret that Magic Kingdom food is typically VERY disappointing. In fact, many people say it has the worst food offerings across any of the Disney World parks. The Diamond Horseshoe However, a brand-new pop-up restaurant experience opens in Magic Kingdom in just one week. So we will see if the new Diamond Horseshoe Pop-Up will break Magic Kingdom’s bad food curse. The Diamond Horseshoe Pop-Up officially opens to guests on October 4th, with reservations opening on September 29th. This is a limited-time pop-up experience available for the fall at the Diamond Horseshoe. ©Disney This restaurant has undergone many changes over the past few months, closing in May to be transformed into Jessie’s Roundup for Cool KIDS’ SUMMER. Jessie’s Roundup at The Diamond Horseshoe Now, the restaurant is currently closed as it is being transformed into the cowboy-themed pop-up guests can visit for the fall season. This new menu is full of “frontier fare” and looks to be a very interesting addition to the park. ©Disney Here is a look at everything you can find on this special pop-up menu: Small Plates Charcuterie: Made with cured beef, candied bacon, smoked pork, green chile cheese, smoked cheddar, and pickles. I took my toddler on a trip to Disney World, and I made some BIG mistakes! I don’t want you to make the same mistakes, which is why I’m sharing my experience with YOU! Magic Kingdom Since my son was born, we’ve done some park days here and there, but this was our first full-scale Disney World trip as a family of three. I learned a lot along the way, and I’m here to share my mistakes so that you can avoid the same pitfalls! But don’t worry, I did some things RIGHT as well, so keep those in mind, too! DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. The Mistakes I Made First on the list of mistakes? Doing a split stay! This is a popular option for many Disney fans, and our trip was actually split into three parts — staying two nights with friends, two nights at a Value Resort in Disney World, and three nights at a Deluxe Resort. I got a great deal on our Value Resort with a Passholder discount, which saved us enough money to do a nice room at the end, but it was a LOT of transitioning for my toddler. Packing and unpacking four separate times in a week and a half was chaotic and disorienting for him, and he never really got to settle into one place. Older children might be able to handle the moving around better, but for the next few years, we’ll be picking one resort and sticking to it…even if it means staying somewhere budget-friendly. Standard Room at All-Star Movies The next mistake was something we kept doing over and over throughout the trip — I simply could not remember to grab my hip sling out of the stroller when it was time to wait in lines! A hip sling or a hip seat carrier can be a huge help when waiting in line for rides with older babies or toddlers because you can’t bring your stroller with you in nearly all queues. I packed it for our trip and even had it in the basket of the stroller most days, but when it was time to park the stroller and head inside, I kept forgetting to grab it. Don’t be like me, unwinding at home with sore hips and knees from carrying an extra 30 pounds through every line. Line for Jungle Cruise It had been a few months since we went to the parks with my son, and he’s much more mobile and active now than he used to be. So, a new thing that I’ll have to think about in the future is planning more time for him to run around and burn energy. Each day, we got to a point where he got fussy and just wanted to be out of the stroller (it’s hard when toddlers aren’t used to being contained all day at home!), and we would have to find a spot somewhere to let him run free. You’ll likely be able to find spaces that fit that mold somewhere in each park, but I would add them to the game plan in the future to minimize meltdowns. The playground in the Dumbo queue I think this next mistake is one that many parents make in Disney World…I accidentally spooked him with an attraction he wasn’t ready for! We went to Blizzard Beach and visited Tike’s Peak, which is the area of the water park designed for young children. We tried going down one of the water slides, not realizing there were smaller, more toddler-friendly options available. Some water splashed in his face at the end, and it took quite a while after that for him to be comfortable with going near the water again. Lesson to all — don’t try and get your child to do something they’re not comfortable doing! Tike’s Peak at Blizzard Beach The last big mistake we made during our trip? Not prioritizing bedtime enough! We made sure to stick to the nap schedule all week, going back to the hotel midday to rest, but we didn’t leave the park early enough each night to keep bedtime. That ended up with my toddler going to bed an hour and a half too late every night and waking up an hour early every day…weird, right?! By the end of the week, he was STRUGGLING because he was sleep-deprived. So, a word to the wise: if your child isn’t very flexible about sleep at home, they’re not suddenly going to be flexible about it on vacation. Cutting park time for bedtime will ultimately keep everyone happier for longer! The Things I Did Right Thankfully, it wasn’t a week made entirely of mistakes. There are a few things I did absolutely RIGHT! The first thing I was really grateful that I did was bring detergent pods, stain remover, and dryer sheets (as well as a bag for dirty clothes) so I could do laundry partway through the week. I wasn’t sure if I would need to, but it was so hot and humid that we ended up doing midday showers every day during nap time and wearing two outfits a day. Disney’s BoardWalk Inn offered a complimentary laundry room (no charge to use the machines), but I would’ve had to purchase generic soap from their vending machine if I didn’t bring my own. Laundry room at Port Orleans — French Quarter I already mentioned this above, but I’m SO grateful that we decided to come back to the hotel room each day for naptime. I truly don’t think we would’ve survived to the end of the week without it! My child isn’t exactly a flexible sleeper (I know some of you out there can relate), and stroller naps weren’t an option for us. Those solid two hours of sleep midday were what kept him going despite the rough sleep at night. It also gave us adults some time to unwind in the air conditioning. Disney’s Boardwalk Inn My third big win? Hitting up Sam’s Club before our trip to prepurchase snacks and breakfast items in bulk. We brought individually packaged items as well as large containers that we could empty into sandwich bags or snack cups (we road tripped, so you might need to pack differently if you fly). There were SO many times throughout the week where those Sam’s Club snacks saved us in long lines, between meals, or while stuck waiting for the next thing to happen. Snacks are a MUST when traveling with small kids. Groceries Don’t have time to hit up the grocery store before your trip? No worries — there’s another way to get food to your hotel without the hassle! Believe it or not, October is almost here! Fall — with all its pumpkin spice and spooky season and spooky goodness — has officially arrived, with the holiday season and the end of the year on the horizon, but that doesn’t mean the perks stop there! Magic Kingdom at night during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Those visiting Disney World during October can find several perks tied to the season, a few of which are disappearing before the calendar flips to November! Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is one of Disney World’s most popular seasonal events, as the spooky spectacular’s offerings of candy, treats, and Halloween-themed characters, entertainment, and theming have all become fall traditions for many. The ticketed event even allows guests over 13 to wear a costume (as long as they follow the rules) inside the Magic Kingdom, a treat that’s usually reserved for guests 13 and under during Disney’s normal operating rules. Boo-To-You Parade October 2026 will see the event presented on the following days: October 1st, 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, 9th, 13th, 15th, 16th, 18th, 22nd, 23rd, 25th, 27th, 29th, and of course Halloween itself, the 31st. As always, Halloween itself marks not just the end of the party, but the end of the season at Disney World, as the transition to Christmas decorations begins just the next day. Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular A final quick note on the party: The Magic Kingdom closes to non-party guests at 6 PM, though they’ll still be able to enjoy the many Halloween decorations that will be up in the park during the month. Halloween decorations The Food & Wine Festival Of course, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party isn’t the only annual event that happens during this time of year. The month also plays host to a large chunk of EPCOT’s International Food & Wine Festival, which runs from August 27th to November 21st this year. As always, the event — which is included in EPCOT admission — is loaded with foods from all around the world spread across the park. October is even seeing the opening of the final four booths at this year’s festival — India, The Alps, Earth Eats, and Coastal Eats — on October 2nd. The EPCOT Food and Wine Festival In addition to the food, the festival is well known for the included Eat to the Beat concert series. This week at Disney World was NOT for the faint of heart. Sure, there are lots of changes going on, like construction of Villains Land, Piston Peak, Monsters Inc. Land, and more, but that’s not the only update happening around the theme parks. Lilypad! Each week, it feels like Disney is constantly dropping new information, details, and more, but it can be a lot to keep up with if it isn’t your full-time job. Luckily for us, it IS our full-time job, so we can save you the trouble of hunting it all down. Here are the 4 biggest news drops from Disney World this week. Disney World, can you go at least ONE week without a big closure or change? Just for us? We are loving everything coming to the parks and hotels, but we don’t know that we can take another closure, even if it’s just a little one. Where are we going to dance now? That’s what this week has left us asking… A Popular Single Rider Line Is GONE In what we deem the biggest news of the week, Disney confirmed that the Expedition Everest Single Rider Line has ended. One of the most popular single rider lines in Disney World has officially disappeared, and we couldn’t be more upset. While we’re sad to see it go, we aren’t shocked. Expedition Everest Single Rider Entrance In May 2026, Disney changed the loading system for Expedition Everest. This made the lines move more quickly and removed the necessity for a single rider line. At the time, Disney didn’t close the single rider line, so we still maintained some hope it wouldn’t go away. Expedition Everest The attraction officially retired its single rider line on September 21st, 2026. We’re eager to see if this will be an issue once Disney finally fixes the Yeti on the attraction, inevitably making it more popular. Disney World To End Expedition Everest Single Rider Line NEW Menu Revealed For Turf Club Bar And Grill We are literally the Disney FOOD Blog, so any new menu gets us pretty excited. Ahead of The Turf Club Bar and Grill’s reopening on September 30th, Disney revealed what guests can dine on after the refurbishment. The Turf Club Bar & Grill! FULL MENU REVEALED for Newly Refurbished Disney World Hotel Restaurant Atlantic Dance Hall Is Closing Permanently Some sad news comes from Disney’s Boardwalk Resort because Atlantic Dance Hall is closing permanently to everyday guests. This bar and dance hall has been a staple at the Boardwalk hotel for YEARS. It was also one of the only late night venues in Disney World. Atlantic Dance Hall The spot has shortened its hours over the years, moving to a weekend-only schedule, but that will end starting on October 1st. This spot will remain available for private events through Disney Meetings & Events and Disney Fairy Tale Weddings but will no longer be available to the public. Inside Atlantic Dance Hall While we are pretty bummed about this, we aren’t truly surprised. This spot has been more overlooked in recent years, but we will never forget dancing and drinking in this venue! Luckily, the Boardwalk’s newest lounge and venue, Hurly Burly, opens on October 1st, so the fun doesn’t have to end. More MAJOR Changes Hit Disney’s BoardWalk Resort BIG Changes Hit A Popular Hollywood Studios Ride Finally, big changes have arrived at Alien Swirling Saucers in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This popular children’s attraction now features Lilypad, from Toy Story 5! Lilypad has added some new narration, new signage, and new songs to the attraction. Say hi, Lilypad! You can now hear songs like; Both a country and flamenco version of “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” A duet version of “We Belong Together” A big band/swing version of “I Can’t Let You Throw Yourself Away” A late 90s pop-punk song called “Pizza Planet Promo” A pop-style country song called “Spin It Back, Lilypad” A country/EDM version of “Woody’s Roundup” Taylor Swift’s song called “I Knew It, I Knew You” And more! Time to ride with a new soundtrack! This ride is beloved by families, and we think these new additions will make it even more popular! If you’re listening for the Taylor Swift song specifically, Cast Members did share with us that it plays at random, so there’s no set list. This Hollywood Studios Ride Just Got A BIG Upgrade! Okay, we know that Disney World is busy, but the crowds we’ve been seeing at EPCOT are next level! If you’ve been at EPCOT this week, then you already know that for some reason, it has been busy, busy. EPCOT Crowds So let’s dive into the crowds we’ve been seeing this week and, most importantly, our favorite tips and tricks for having the perfect EPCOT day, even when it is crowded. When we were in EPCOT yesterday, we were shocked by the crowds. World Showcase was absolutely slammed, and the wait times were LONG. But the weird thing is there is no reason for EPCOT to be this busy. Typically, this is the time of year we notice fewer crowds before the Holiday season approaches. SO busy! EPCOT’s Food & Wine Festival is well underway, but that alone shouldn’t cause these intense crowds, so we think it was just a very busy day at EPCOT. Or this year’s big crowds have arrived earlier than expected. Either way, we could not believe our eyes while we were walking around World Showcase; just look at the crowds outside of the American Adventure Pavilion. Crowds While the crowds were really high all around World Showcase as guests were in line for the Food & Wine Festival booths, the wait times for the rides were also extremely long. Such a long line! The lines were incredibly long all day, but we noticed they got especially intense in the evening; these were the wait times at 7 PM yesterday. Frozen Ever After: 60 minutes Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure: 65 minutes Test Track: 90 minutes Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind: 160 minutes EPCOT Crowds Yes, 160 minutes for Cosmic Rewind, which is SO long even for this popular attraction. And the lowest we saw the attraction all day was 85 minutes. So there is no denying that EPCOT was packed yesterday. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Now, if you are visiting EPCOT soon, there is no need to panic. A busy day in the park does not mean it will be a bad one. There is plenty you can do to plan for your EPCOT day that will help you have fun and complete your must-do list even with the crowds. Our first suggestion is buying either the Lightning Lane Multi Pass, which lets you skip the line on all participating attractions, or the Lightning Lane Single Pass, which you can purchase to skip the line at Cosmic Rewind. Cosmic Rewind Lightning Lane Both of these options are a great way to save time in line if you are willing to pay the upcharge, although in this park most of the other rides do drop into a reasonable wait throughout the day, so if you only want to purchase one of these options, skipping the line at just Cosmic Rewind might be a great choice. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Rope Dropping is also a great way to start your day and save time. This is when you get to the park before it opens so you can be some of the first people inside and ride a few rides before the park fills up with guests. Not only should you Rope Drop the park, but you should also consider Rope Dropping the Food & Wine Booths. Food & Wine Crowds The booths open at 11 AM, and if you have a few Festival must-tries, then we suggest getting to the booths as soon as they open, because World Showcase will only get busier and busier throughout the afternoon and into the evening. EPCOT crowds in Germany Overall, EPCOT is an incredible park with so many options for how to spend your day, so even if it is busy and the lines are long, if you have a plan, your must-do list ready, and are flexible with your day, you will still be able to have a fantastic time even if the park is crowded.
