  2. Is Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind your favorite ride in all of Disney World? If it is, SOLID CHOICE. Guardians of the Galaxy: Comic Rewind This ride is beloved by many, and Disney fans have taken to riding it over and over, trying to get all six songs that the soundtrack offers. But far and away, one of those songs is a fan-favorite…it’s “September” by Earth, Wind & Fire. And this month, you can GUARANTEE you’ll hear it! Disney has announced that on September 21st, Cosmic Rewind will be playing “September” all day long! You know, because the song has the lyrics “on the 21st night of September?” It’s so clever! Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind This means that instead of hearing one of six songs, every rider will get the same song for a single day. We’ve seen Disney offer this in the past, but it was skipped last year. We have a feeling that Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is going to be VERY popular on this day, so pack your patience and purchase a Lightning Lane Single Pass if you really don’t want to wait. Cosmic Rewind queue Also, in honor of the occasion, Connections Eatery is getting a special drink for one day only. The Supernova Sip is made with spicy hot honey syrup, lemon juice, and edible glitter topped with orange cotton candy. That sounds WILD! ©Disney In case you’re not familiar, Cosmic Rewind is a roller coaster in EPCOT’s World Discovery area themed to the Guardians of the Galaxy movies. You’ll join the Guardians as you try to defeat a Celestial and recapture the stolen Cosmic Generator that belongs to the Xandarians. The coaster itself has an awesome backwards launch and some serious G-forces. Plus, a killer soundtrack! Swirls of queues We’ll keep you updated with any crowds or other fun offerings on September 21st, so keep following DFB for the latest. 5 Things That’ll MAKE Your Ride on Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! 3. Even though it is Halloween at Disney World, that does not mean that the heat has let up. Despite all the fall decor, it still feels like summer outside. This can make it really difficult to find a spooky outfit to wear to the parks, or even to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, that is both full of Halloween fun and comfortable. Halloween at Disney World Which is why we were thrilled to see that Disney has collaborated with Crowned Athletics to create an all-new Halloween collection that releases on September 17th. Crowned Athletics is an activewear brand known for creating great clothes with an awesome style. They have collaborated with Disney in the past to make other collections that have been so cute, and this one looks no different. This Halloween collection is focusing on two main movies, The Nightmare Before Christmas and 101 Dalmatians (specifically, Cruella De Vil). ©Disney Let’s start our clothing overview with a trip to Halloween Town. This part of the collection starts with several pieces, including leggings, a sports bra, a shirt, a skort, and a tank top, all themed to the Pumpkin King himself, Jack Skellington. ©Disney We also have several items themed to Jake’s best pal Zero, including a pet bandana… ©Disney …and a hat. ©Disney And of course, no Nightmare Before Christmas collection would be complete without some Sally representation. This collection includes leggings and a sports bra… ©Disney …a tank top and skort… ©Disney …and a mesh shrug you can wear over the tank top, all created with Sally’s iconic design in mind. ©Disney Now it’s time to move on to the Cruella De Vil collection. Starting with leggings, a skirt, a sports bra, and a tank top designed to look like Cruella’s iconic red and black colors, and we can’t forget about all the spots! ©Disney With the same design, you can also find a longer tank top… ©Disney …hair bows… ©Disney …and a pet bandana. ©Disney This collection is so much fun, and we think these spooky outfits will be the perfect addition for your Halloween trip to Disney World! 4. Well, it’s the end of an era! A restaurant in Disney Springs has permanently closed, with the promise of something new coming to replace it. Wolfgang Puck Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill has closed in Disney Springs, and Disney hasn’t announced anything yet, but it is a big restaurant space, and we hope it doesn’t stay closed for long. A few weeks ago, once rumors were circulating about the closure, we went to Disney Springs and asked an employee who could confirm it was closing but couldn’t confirm the date. As of September 15th, the space is officially closed. Closed The Disney Springs website was updated recently to reflect the closure, but no other comments have been made on what’s replacing the restaurant. ©Disney Disney Springs has been hit with a lot of closures this year. There was the clothing store Johnston & Murphy… Closed …Shore, the clothing boutique… The former Shore storefront … Francesca’s, another clothing store… Francesca’s …and Sprinkles Cupcakes. The Sprinkles Cupcakes building was turned into a pop-up experience for Black Tap Craft Burgers & Shakes and is currently housing a temporary Ghirardelli store while their original building goes through major renovations. Construction at the old store front It feels like there has been change after change, and honestly, we’re not surprised another location was closing in Disney Springs. Hopefully, Disney announces soon what is coming to the restaurant so we can start planning another trip. It’s likely it will be closed for a few months while it transitions to the next project. Make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for more Disney news so you know what’s happening before your next trip. 6. Securing dining reservations is already hard, especially at a very popular restaurant, and it’ll be even harder when a NEW restaurant opens next year! Narcoosee’s Disney World is in the midst of making some MAJOR changes, including adding a few new lands, refurbishing attractions, and building a brand-new hotel! These lands also bring new dining experiences, and one of them is about to be EXTREMELY hard to come by. Monstropolis, the Monsters, Inc.-themed land coming to Hollywood Studios, is slated to open sometime in 2027. With it comes a new quick-service restaurant, a new table-service restaurant, new shopping experiences, a new theater show, and Disney’s first-of-its-kind suspended rollercoaster, which will not open with the land and will open at a later date. ©Disney And while Advance Dining Reservations have not been confirmed for Harryhausen’s restaurant just yet, it’s very likely since this will be a table-service restaurant. THIS will be one of the hardest reservations to grab on your 2027 Disney World vacation. ©Disney Not only will it be one of the newest restaurants on property, but it will also be VERY highly themed with a delicious menu! At the 2026 D23 Ultimate Fan Event, Michael Hundgen, Vice President Creative, said that the menu will serve more than just sushi… it will be “unlike anything else we offer at Walt Disney World.” ©Disney There will also be some “live” entertainment while guests eat, as they’ll be able to watch the Chef in action! Disney revealed a sneak peek at the Sushi Chef Audio-Animatronic at D23, explaining that guests at the restaurant can watch as the chef’s tentacles whip up Monster-worthy creations. ©Disney An opening date has yet to be confirmed for the restaurant and this land as a whole, but we do know that it will be opening up sometime in 2027. As a reminder, guests can start making their reservations 60 days in advance, and if you’re staying at a Disney World hotel, you can book for up to 14 days at the 60-day mark! You can book reservations on the website or the My Disney Experience app. ©Disney We’ll keep you updated with any news that is announced for this restaurant and the upcoming land! 7. The Disney World Monorail is one of our favorite ways to get to Magic Kingdom and EPCOT, but just like everything else, it’s not guaranteed to be operational 100% of the time. Monorail at EPCOT Bad weather is one of the reasons you may notice that the Monorail isn’t functioning as normal, though it’s usually less affected by weather than the Skyliner. However, recently, a lightning strike caused a power outage that left guests stranded on the Monorail for over an hour. Back on September 8th, passengers on the Monorail were stopped during their ride when lightning struck nearby, according to WFLA. The riders were stuck for an hour and a half with no AC, as the lightning strike caused a power outage that took out the system entirely. ©WFLA courtesy of Tanya Lee In a video provided by Tanya Lee, who was on the Monorail when the issue happened, you can see three men on board take out the window as they’re guided by the overhead voice of the monorail conductor. In an interview with Storyful, Lee said, “We were there for one and a half hours and during that time the driver talked us through how to take out the window.” Gold Monorail pulling in Lee continued, saying that while she was very nervous and doesn’t like heights, and has always been worried about getting stuck on one of the Monorails, but that, “Everyone was in good spirits, as there is not much you can do at that point. The people in the car I was in were upbeat despite the situation.” Lee also said that when they got off the Monorail, Disney was there to meet them with cold bottles of water, $50 Disney gift cards, and a Lightning Lane pass. Monorail It’s important to remember that things like this can happen anywhere in Disney World, not just on transportation, and not only in bad weather. We’ve previously been stuck on rides numerous times before and had to be evacuated off, and we’ve been stuck on other modes of transportation too. It’s a risk you take when you get on any attraction in Disney World, so while we don’t think it should stop you from doing a ride or hopping on some transportation, it is something to keep in the back of your mind. 12. There’s a special kind of magic that happens when family, culture, and music come together. This fall, Walt Disney World Resort celebrates Together We Are Magia during Hispanic & Latin American Heritage Month, September 15 through October 15, with experiences that bring vibrant traditions and cultures to life across the resort. This year, Puerto Rican superstar Luis Fonsi joined Walt Disney World in celebrating Hispanic & Latin American Heritage Month, sharing his love of music, family, and his Puerto Rican roots. During a recent visit to Walt Disney World, Fonsi experienced ¡Celebración Encanto! at EPCOT, where he met Mirabel and Bruno and enjoyed music and dancing from the Storytellers and Primos. He also experienced his favorite attraction, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, and met his favorite Disney character, Mickey Mouse. “It’s an honor to be part of this celebration and to share all the magia that happens when we come together as one. As a Puerto Rican, I’m incredibly proud of my roots and of the opportunity to celebrate our culture with families from around the world.” Music, Entertainment and More Experience the sounds of Latin American cultures at Eat to the Beat Concert Series at EPCOT, featuring: Latin Ambition: Sept. 15–17 Grupo Mania: Sept. 20–21 Metro Latino Band: Sept. 22–24 Rey Ruiz: Oct. 5–6 Viva Latina: Oct. 9–11 At Magic Kingdom, the Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade features Mirabel from Encanto, Miguel from Coco, Princess Elena of Avalor, José Carioca, Panchito, and more. 13. In the lead-up to the 2026 edition of EPCOT’s iconic International Food & Wine Festival, Disney introduced a potential GAME-CHANGER! No, this wasn’t a new snack or cocktail to be enjoyed around the world — though there are plenty of those in 2026 as well –but rather something much simpler: Fence Tables! Full Spread Did these new eating stations live up to the hype? Is dining at the Food & Wine Festival easier this year? Or was this a case of something overhyped and underdelivered? This is what our team thought. So, a bit of background before we begin. For years, tables have been an issue at EPCOT’s festivals, including Food & Wine. Guests with snacks from the park’s food booths often had trouble finding an empty table, with many standing and waiting as their food and drink wilted in the Florida sun, while others would instead dine on top of trash cans! While that method did gain some cult popularity amongst some Disney fans, it also grossed out others. Trash can table! However, 2026 introduced another issue beyond potential hygiene. Disney World first began rolling out new trash cans earlier this year. Similar to models we’ve seen at Disneyland Paris, these trash cans have solar panels to collect energy, push-down bars that will open the can so you can easily throw your things away without touching the door or spilling any of your trash and creating a bigger mess throughout the day, and curved tops, which may make eating on top of them a bit harder than in the past. New trash cans! Perhaps to cushion the blow from the loss of trash cans or to make finding table space a bit easier — most likely a mix of both — Disney introduced the fence tables. Attached to fences around the park — fence tables… get it? — these platforms are big enough for several people to put their food on, so you can keep your party together and snack outside without finding a table. Fence tables! Of course, Disney had to specify that these tables are NOT seats. Don’t try to sit on them So, what did we think of them? Well, the first thing we noticed is that — so far — there aren’t that many of them! Most seem to be located in the Odyssey/Mexico area. In fact, many of our team members who were visiting some of the park’s busiest booths, like Belgium, Brazil, and America, didn’t encounter them and felt that finding a table was about equal to years prior. 2026 booth One of our team members who DID use the fence tables noticed some inconsistencies. According to them, those near the Odyssey/Mexico booths were a bit too low to use comfortably, while the fence tables near Germany were higher up, which made them a bit easier to use. They’re pretty big This year, EPCOT introduced fence tables for their festival season, but just how game-changing they are may depend on where in the park one is dining. 14. Do you remember… all the awesome times you’ve had saving the known universe with Star-Lord and the whole gang at Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind during your visits to EPCOT? While it’s always a good day to hop onboard a Starjumper and find out what soundtrack you’ll have for your heroic chase through space, there’s something about September 21 that just hits different. September You don’t have to cross your fingers or wish upon a star to get the song “September” – on that day to remember, Earth, Wind and Fire’s iconic anthem will play all day long! And, fun fact, you’ll also probably have the song stuck in your head all day long, too… which I don’t mind at all, because it’s just that good. In fact, I’m humming it now. Peter Quill, Is That You? Not only can you rock out during your hero’s journey, but don’t forget to stop by and greet the pilot of the Milano himself – Star-Lord! He’s a pretty busy dude, so be sure to check My Disney Experience for times to meet the legendary outlaw himself. Celebrate with Sips After you connect with Star-Lord, head over to Connections Café and Eatery (see what I did, there?) for a new beverage will be available on September 21 only. Supernova Sip: Spicy Hot Honey Syrup, Lemon Juice, Edible Glitter topped with Orange Cotton Candy. A spirited version is available with Maker’s Mark Kentucky Straight Bourbon. Galactic Merchandise If simply singing about remembering the good times on September 21 isn’t enough and you need to bring home a souvenir, I recommend flying into Treasures of Xandar, a unique Xandarian trading post located just outside the exit of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. Explore otherworldly finds for purchase, as well as relics that celebrate Xandar’s heroes – the Guardians of the Galaxy. 16. Walt Disney wasn’t opposed to many things when it came to creating his theme park, but the one thing he was against was alcohol. Although he passed before the Magic Kingdom opened in 1971, the rule of no alcohol was honored… until 2012. Alcoholic Beverage Menu Yes, alcohol was served before 2012 in the other theme parks, but we’re strictly talking about the Magic Kingdom. This is the park that’s seen as the epitome of Disney World — the one people think of when it comes to planning a vacation to the “Most Magical Place on Earth…” The one that makes you feel like a kid again. And now 10 restaurants break Walt’s number one rule. Table-Service Restaurants Be Our Guest Restaurant When Be Our Guest Restaurant opened in 2012, they were the first to serve alcohol. Before then, Magic Kingdom was a fully dry park. Guests over the age of 21 can purchase specialty beverages, champagne, wines, beers, and ciders during lunch and dinner. The Crystal Palace serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner in a buffet-style setting where friends from the Hundred Acre Wood will come around to each table and greet their guests! 21. This article was originally published on TheWaltDisneyCompany.com The click of a seatbelt. The whistle of a train. The whir of a soft serve machine. In “Sounds of Disney,” a new documentary-style ad, those everyday sounds come together to the melody of Steamboat Willie, one of Disney’s most iconic tunes, while painting a picture of Disney’s nationwide economic impact. How? Some of the sounds are of Cast Members at work — a nod to the more than 403,000 jobs Disney supports nationwide. Others represent the services and products supplied to Disney’s various destinations by small and local businesses. Those collective sounds represent a part of Disney’s annual U.S. economic impact of $67 billion. Watch “Sounds of Disney” above to hear how a day at Disney adds up to a nationwide story and see the full scope of Disney Experiences’ economic impact across the U.S. here. Next time you’re in the park, as you take in the sounds, smells and sights, you won’t help but wonder who is behind that part of the magic. How do the sounds in the ad relate to Disney’s economic impact? Delivering Disney experiences takes a broad network of suppliers and service providers nationwide. Four of them show up in the ad’s soundscape: Le Chef Bakery (Montebello, Calif.): A young guest enjoying a muffin represents this bakery, which has supplied cakes, fresh baked goods and mixes for Disney parks and resorts for over 20 years. Southeast Dairy Processors (Tampa, Fla.): A swirl of soft serve ice cream showcases this longtime dairy supplier that has supported Walt Disney World since its opening day in 1971. Chef’s Garden (Huron, Ohio): A Cast Member chopping vegetables highlights this family-owned specialty produce farm, which has supplied fruits and vegetables to Walt Disney World for more than 20 years. Sobel Westex (Las Vegas): A Cast Member straightening a pillowcase depicts this linen supplier, which has outfitted Disneyland Resort, Walt Disney World and Disney Cruise Line for more than 20 years. These four represent just a fraction of the thousands of businesses Disney Experiences works with in all 50 states, many of them small or family-owned. Behind-the-scenes: Meet cast members who worked on the ad Disney Cast Members Shaina Mirlis (left), Nicole Figueroa-Sierra (middle) and Evelin Garcia (right) monitor filming of the Sounds of Disney advertisement at Walt Disney World How did this ad become guided by sound? Nicole Figueroa-Sierra, Associate Producer with Disney’s internal creative agency, Main Street, shaped the ad’s direction — finding a fun way to help audiences understand the important role of small businesses in every Disney visit. “I wanted the ad to take viewers through a day at Disney — what that feels like, but also what that sounds like. It’s these really small things, from the people trimming the flowers to the person pressing the button that starts the fireworks, that come together to create something much bigger,” she explained. Disney Cast Member Nicole Figueroa-Sierra guides filming at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios Figueroa-Sierra discusses filming with the advertisement’s director, Kirk Sullivan at Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana at EPCOT How did those sounds become a melody? Evelin Garcia, Music Supervisor with Disney’s Main Street creative agency, helped turn that idea into a sound-first structure. Disney Cast Member Evelin Garcia helps capture sounds at EPCOT Garcia helps capture sounds at Magic Kingdom That meant using real sounds from the theme parks as the foundation, then adding subtle musical elements including long strings and “sparkle” notes to create what she described as a pixie dust-like effect. “We were looking for a song that would resonate whether you were visiting Walt Disney World or Disneyland. Steamboat Willie felt universal, and that iconic whistle is instantly recognizable to Disney fans,” Garcia added. How did Disney bring it all together? With the creative and musical framework set, Shaina Mirlis, Public Affairs Manager, Disney Experiences, found the best ways to bring the story to life on camera—focusing on celebrating the Cast Members and small businesses whose contributions bring Disney experiences to life every day. “Steamboat Willie ties Disney’s history to where we are now,” Mirlis reflected. “That history includes helping the people and small businesses we work with grow right along with us. Disney Cast Member Shaina Mirlis discusses the project with the advertisement director, Kirk Sullivan at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Mirlis poses with Greta Feldman, a producer who helped film the advertisement Delivering Disney experiences depends on our amazing cast members and a broad ecosystem of suppliers and service providers that support day-to-day operations and help keep experiences running with care and consistency. Loungefly has built an entire empire out of nostalgia, but let’s be honest: most of that nostalgia can be geared toward Millennials and Gen Z. ©Amazon Gen X has spent years waiting for a bag of their own. 28. There is a LOT happening in Disney’s Hollywood Studios right now. So Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets finally opened in May, and we’re still LOVING the new attraction. Monstropolis is currently being built where Muppets Courtyard used to be and will have a phased opening starting in 2027. New attraction and park map! But a lot just changed TODAY in Hollywood Studios, too, so we’re going to give a full rundown of all the changes so you don’t miss anything. The Magic of Disney Animation Although The Magic of Disney Animation at The Walt Disney Studios soft-opened a few days ago, the new attraction has officially opened as of today. The building itself was inspired by the actual Disney animation studio in Burbank (complete with the Mickey Sorcerer’s hat) and houses multiple attractions in one. For starters, you can learn to draw iconic Disney characters from Olaf and a video of a Disney animator in Olaf Draws. Olaf Draws! You can also meet Disney characters in “Off The Page” as they greet guests in six departments in the building, themed to departments you’d find at Disney’s REAL animation studios. It’s Mulan! The new space also features an indoor playground (yes, an indoor AIR-CONDITIONED playground) for kids called Drawn To Wonderland. It’s based on Mary Blair’s concept art for Alice in Wonderland. Drawn to Wonderland You can also enjoy some time in an air-conditioned theater space to watch Disney’s Emmy Award-winning short, Once Upon A Studio, in the Once Upon A Studio Theater. Once Upon a Studio The space also features a lot of interactive experiences, hidden details, Easter eggs, and surprises. Note that Disney has said it will use a virtual queue if things get too crowded at The Magic of Disney Animation, so you might want to keep that in mind when you visit. 4 New Attractions Open in Disney’s Hollywood Studios New Map With a new attraction open comes a new park map! Yep, a new map came to Hollywood Studios today, and the front showcases the new The Magic of Disney Animation building. New park map! Inside, you’ll see The Magic of Disney Animation showcased, along with the new Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! show and the new The Mandalorian and Grogu version of Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. Featuring The Magic of Disney Animation The map itself now features The Magic of Disney Animation. It’s on the map! So if you’re the type to collect park maps, head on over to Hollywood Studios now! There’s a NEW Park Map in EPCOT and It Features a HUGE Change Baymax Sipper But more has come to Hollywood Studios today, too, including a brand new Baymax Sipper. Yes, there’s finally something in Disney World for Big Hero 6 fans. The new sipper is Baymax on his charging pad, and it comes with a new drink called Ani-Made, which is Minute Maid premium lemonade with DOLE Whip pineapple juice and watermelon syrup. New Baymax Sipper! This seems to be the same sipper we spotted in Disney California Adventure in 2023. You’ll find him in Disney World at the snack cart near The Walt Disney Studios. Disney Is About to Level Up the Snack Carts Monstropolis Updates But…wait, there’s more! We also spotted some construction updates over at the Monstropolis site. From what we can tell, some scalloping seems to be getting added to this building. Details being added We’re so excited to see all these little details come to life to create this city we’ve only ever seen in movies. Rides, Restaurants, and More CONFIRMED for Monsters, Inc.
