Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is officially less than a week away! That means it’s almost time for delicious treats, spooky entertainment, and haunted decorations to fill Magic Kingdom. And Disney has just revealed some new items we can expect to find in the lineup this year. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party runs select nights starting August 7th through October 31st. This is an event that takes place in Magic Kingdom after the park closes and includes specialty Halloween entertainment, exclusive characters, spooky snacks, trick-or-treating, and so much more. We love a Disney food trend, and we’re thrilled to see this one taking over Disney World! Churro waffle! Churro Mickey waffles — that iconic combination of a Mickey-shaped waffle rolled in cinnamon-sugar to taste just like a churro — used to be a Disney Cruise Line exclusive. If you wanted them on land, you had exactly one option in all of Disney World. Now? There are three. Let’s talk about it. You can find them at Crystal Palace in Magic Kingdom, at Spyglass Grill at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, and now at Rix Sports Bar & Grill at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. Three spots, three totally different vibes, and three totally different price points. This is the kind of expansion that makes us wonder if Disney has finally realized just how much we’ve all been begging for wider access to this treat. Photo Crystal Palace We visited Crystal Palace in the morning, which tends to be the restaurant’s busiest window for breakfast — and the churro waffles were the very first thing we tried. We loved them. Genuinely, they’re worth the visit on their own, since for a long time this was the only place in all of Disney World to find them. Mickey Churro Waffles They taste exactly like a churro, cinnamon-sugar coating and all, just shaped like Mickey instead of the usual straight stick. They’re delicious plain, but a drizzle of syrup takes them even further. In our opinion, they’re the clear highlight of the meal here — the kind of dish that appeals to literally everyone at the table, kids and adults alike. The catch, of course, is that Crystal Palace is a full sit-down character dining experience. That typically means booking an advance reservation and paying around $54 per adult — not exactly a quick, budget-friendly stop if all you want is a waffle. Hello Beautiful Spyglass Grill This is where things get exciting for anyone who doesn’t want to plan an entire reservation-and-park-ticket outing around a waffle. Spyglass Grill, the quick-service window at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, recently added Mickey-shaped churro waffles to its breakfast menu for $11.49, and you don’t need a park ticket or a dining reservation to get them. Spyglass Grill We ordered a plate and were seriously impressed with the portion: three Mickey-shaped churro waffles plus bacon and sausage on the side. They smelled incredible before we even took a bite, and the flavor didn’t disappoint — the outside has that same crackly, sugary-cinnamon coating we remembered from the cruise ships, while the inside stays warm, soft, and fluffy. Honestly, you barely need syrup because the waffles bring plenty of sweetness on their own. The bacon and sausage rounded things out nicely, giving the plate some savory balance against all that sugar. For the price and the convenience, this might be the sleeper hit of the bunch — a genuine hidden gem at a resort quick-service spot that doesn’t always get much attention. Read Our Review of Spyglass Grill Here! BEAUTIFUL Rix Sports Bar and Grill And then there’s Rix, which took the biggest swing of the three. The new menu item is called Chicken and Mickey Waffles, priced at $20, and it’s described as churro Mickey waffles topped with crispy chicken tenders tossed in a Nashville rub and hot honey maple, finished with a dusting of powdered sugar. Our plate! The plate itself is generous — you actually get both a Mickey waffle and a Minnie waffle, and flavor-wise they’re identical to the churro waffles at the other two locations: crisp and sugary on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside, with that unmistakable cinnamon-churro taste. The twist here is the chicken. The Nashville hot sauce coats the tenders and drips onto the plate, so nearly every bite gets a little kick even when you’re mostly tasting waffle. The waffles It’s a genuinely great sweet-and-spicy combination — the chicken itself is crispy on the outside and juicy inside, and the heat builds gradually as you eat rather than hitting all at once. We’d call it a pleasant burn, medium at most; spice-averse guests might want to proceed with caution, but we wouldn’t classify this as truly “hot.” Our favorite bites by far were the sweet waffle pieces dragged through that spicy sauce. EPCOT has some of the best food anywhere in Disney World. With the entire World Showcase packed with different restaurants, you get so many cuisines and lots of dishes to choose from. Let’s go eat some crepes! This time, we’re heading to La Crêperie de Paris in the France Pavilion in EPCOT to check out a new dish we think will be popular. We tried the Burger Breton, which is a savory galette filled with cheddar cheese, ground beef, and caramelized onions and costs $18.75. You’ll want to head to the sit-down crepe restaurant here vs the quick-service window since they only offer it at the restaurant! Burger Breton This crepe was SO good. Was it as authentic as you might want? No, but it was packed with flavor, and we had an incredible time eating it. The cheeseburger was flavorful, and the onions were smooth and salty. We wished the burger sauce was a smidge sweeter, or there was a little bit more sweetness throughout the whole dish. Sesame seeds on top! There’s a salad on the side to imitate the lettuce and tomatoes on a cheeseburger, which is a super cute touch. The sesame seeds on top made it look more cheeseburger-like, but we couldn’t really taste their crunch. Side salad The cheese was very melty and held all the ground beef and onions together. This thing was really good, and while we feel a bit guilty for not choosing a more authentic one, it was so good that we’re willing to look past it. A new perk just debuted at Disney World’s BoardWalk Inn… BoardWalk …but NOT every guest is eligible to take advantage of it! While anyone can stroll along the water, grab a scoop of ice cream, or invest in a $22 slice of cake, a special character meet-and-greet has returned that’s only for Disney Vacation Club members. Here are all the details! This summer, Disney Vacation Club Members have access to a special character experience at the BoardWalk’s Atlantic Dance Hall as part of DVC Welcome Home Weeks. ©Disney Some dates have already passed, but the character experiences are scheduled to run from 11 AM to 1 PM on the following dates: July 22nd July 27th through July 28th August 4th through August 5th August 12th through August 13th, August 17th through August 18th August 26th, 2026 To attend, Members must be eligible for Membership Extras and have a Disney World resort reservation. Members can bring four Guests (or the number of additional Guests on the reservation). A valid Disney Vacation Club Digital Membership Card and photo ID are required at event check-in, and the Member listed on the Digital Membership Card must be in attendance. In addition, according to Disney, there is no on-site parking available for this event, and Members are strongly encouraged to use Walt Disney World Resort transportation. “Wishing You A Magical Day” This character experience isn’t the only perk Vacation Club Members have access to during Welcome Home Weeks, which last from July 22nd through August 26th. Happy Princess Week! Happy Princess Week! If you didn’t know, each year Disney celebrates what it means to be a princess, including virtues like kindness and courage. This year, the special week runs from August 16th through August 22nd. To celebrate, they release tons of snacks around Disney World for each princess, prince, or other royal family member to enjoy. We tried 3 of them so you can know if they’re right for you! Grab your tiaras and let’s dive into the newest treats in Disney World. Starting off strong, we went to Le Petite Cafe at Disney’s Riviera Resort. This spot has been a favorite of ours for years, so we have high expectations. We grabbed the Lemon Blueberry Entremet for $7.79. It’s made with blueberry mousse, lemon chiffon cake, lemon curd, and blueberry compote. The Lemon Blueberry Entremet This was easily our favorite bite of the day! It’s small but mighty in our book. The cake was very light, and the crumb on the bottom was moist. The cake also stands enough on its own that the flavor isn’t lost in the glaze or the center filling. The main flavors from all of the components are blueberry and lemon. The sweet blueberry isn’t too much, and it balances beautifully with the tart lemon curd. A look inside! The center has a whole blueberry in it, which made for a very interesting textural element. Surrounding the cake, there are small pearls that add a slight crunch to each bite. The cake is very light and refreshing, but the tart lemon packs a surprising punch. The glaze on top is thin and melted into the cake with each bite. The yellow hair was lemon icing, which made every little detail feel very intentional. It’s an incredibly easy treat to finish and indulge in. Trust us, we will be coming back for it! Have a bite! Next, we stopped by Sassagoula Food Factory at Disney’s Port Orleans – French Quarter Resort for the Tiana’s Caramel Éclair for $7.49. You can also grab it at Riverside Mill Food Court. This treat is made with honey crémeux, caramel, and spiced pecans. Tiana’s Caramel Éclair While we love Princess Tiana, this wasn’t our favorite treat of the day. The choux was well made, which was evident because it was light and puffy. It was airy and everything you could anticipate from a cream puff-style éclair. The treat was chilled, so it didn’t have as much crunch as we would have liked. The filling was sugar-forward with a touch of creaminess. There wasn’t enough cream to cut through the sweetness of the filling. The filling was full of honey, and the layer of caramel added a nice touch. We would have loved to have had a touch of sea salt in the caramel for a more robust flavor profile. A look inside! The white chocolate topping also adds to that sugary-sweet flavor profile. The dessert is beautiful, but unless you’re looking for something overly sweet, this probably isn’t for you. It’s pretty, but not for us! Finally, we tried the Princess of the Bayou for $9.00. This treat is made of vanilla chiffon with pistachio-praline crunch and a layer of orange pâte de fruit topped with pistachio mousse. You can find it at Amorette’s Patisserie in Disney Springs. Princess of the Bayou! This was another very light and delicate dessert! The pistachio mousse was easily the star of the show. The orange pâte de fruit wasn’t overpowering. Pairing the orange and the pistachio together made for extremely balanced and refreshing bites. The chiffon cake and praline crunch on the bottom were there for texture more than flavor. We were missing any taste from the praline, but the crunch did make each bite interesting. A look inside! The best bites were the ones with each component working together. We would definitely get this again, but if you’re looking for some more traditional or familiar flavors, it might not be your favorite. She’s extra pretty! These three new treats are a super fun way to enjoy Princess Week and even support your favorite princess during your trip to the resort. Luckily, you don’t even need a park ticket for them! Halloween is almost here, as is the first Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Now, we are READY and will be at that first party to get a good look at everything there is to see and do. Magic Kingdom at night during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party We’ve already had some sneak peeks at the exclusive food and drinks available at the party, as well as the merchandise, but Disney also just quietly dropped some details about an exclusive popcorn buckets….and trust us, you’re going to want both! What’s interesting is that we would not have known about these exclusive souvenirs had we not checked the My Disney Experience app, so Disney is being a little hush-hush about them. However, we have confirmed that the Hatbox Ghost Popcorn Bucket we previously learned about that was coming to Disneyland will also be available in Disney World at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. ©Disney However, another popcorn bucket is coming to the party, too: the Headless Horseman Popcorn Bucket. So if you’re coming to the party, you’ll want to keep an eye out for it. ©Disney If you’re looking for something a little less scary, you’ll also be able to pick up a Vampire Mickey Bucket or Halloween Pooh Sipper during the day (meaning they aren’t party exclusives). Over the years, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party has become one of Walt Disney World’s most beloved traditions. The event’s offerings of candy, treats, Halloween-themed characters, special entertainment, decorations, and the rare ability for an adult to wear a costume in the Magic Kingdom have become annual favorites of many guests, and you can bet those guests are already planning their next party. Magic Kingdom at night during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Part of that planning? Choosing the right Disney World Hotel to stay at on their Not-So-Scary night! Magic Kingdom Hotels Let’s start with the most obvious hotels to stay at when attending Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party: those in the Magic Kingdom Resort Area: Disney’s Contemporary Resort Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa Each of these three resorts is on the Disney World Resort Monorail loop, each about five minutes from the Magic Kingdom, making them ideal to get to the party after putting the finishing touches on one’s costume, and (more importantly) a quick 5-minute trip back to the hotel when the party ends at midnight. Compare that to the 20+ minute bus ride from the park back to most of Disney World’s other hotels, which may or may not have multiple stops, and then you’re not getting back to your room until 2 AM. Disney World Monorail In addition, each of these hotels belongs to Disney’s Deluxe Tier Resort category, meaning a stay at any of them includes perks like Early Entry AND Extended Evening Hours. Of course, that Deluxe Tier comes with a Deluxe price tag, but if those hotels are out of your price range, don’t worry, we have another suggestion that will keep you close to the Magic Kingdom. Jack Skellington and Sally at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Fort Wilderness Campground Fort Wilderness is located in the Magic Kingdom area of the Disney World Resort (which is MASSIVE), but doesn’t have access to the Monorail. However, you can take a bus or boat to Magic Kingdom in under 15 minutes! At this spot, you can choose to stay in the cabins, which are the more expensive option, or you can bring your own tent and/or RV and camp the old-fashioned way! While the cabins are a few hundred dollars per night, campsites can sometimes be under $100 per night, depending on when you book! For those who already own an RV or have some tents they plan to stake down, that’s a pretty great deal, helping you save some serious money on your trip! A campsite definitely won’t be as cushy as staying in a hotel room, but to some people, saving hundreds of dollars a night while enjoying Mickey’s Not-So-Scary is totally worth that. Plus, the campground has some Halloween traditions of its own. Monorail! Once you’ve chosen a hotel, you’ll still need somewhere to eat before the party. Our Guide to Disney World Dining pulls it all together so you can stop stressing and focus on the fun without feeling like you’re missing a thing! Pop Century Okay, so Disney’s Pop Century Resort does sacrifice the proximity to the Magic Kingdom and the inherent transportation advantage. However, if you’re willing to sacrifice that to pay under $200 a night without camping at Fort Wilderness, the Value Tier Resort may be the place for you. The absolute best news has hit Disney World today, and we truly couldn’t be more excited. It involves a new restaurant and hand pies, so we couldn’t ask for more. Let’s go! Gideon’s Bakehouse has opened a new restaurant in Disney Springs called Six Ravens, and it has officially opened to the public. While hours might be a bit finicky till they have their grand opening, we’re checking out the space and trying some new food, so come with us to see if you should add Six Ravens to your “must try” list in Disney World. Before we even got to Six Ravens, there was a line at security at Disney Springs to get in. We’re pretty used to seeing these massive crowds for new merchandise releases, but this was for the restaurant. It seems like we aren’t the only ones super excited for a new Gideon’s spin-off. On their Instagram page, they also warned that if the line gets excessively long at their restaurant, they will use a Virtual Queue system so guests do not have to wait in a physical line but receive a notification when they’re able to return. Crowds in security We also got a look at the menu! While the menu has been available online for a bit (and we have been obsessed with every part), we got ot grab a physical menu. Gideon’s Bakehouse has monthly menu cards with different designs on the front, so we were happy to get a cool physical menu as a keepsake. The menu Here’s a look at the inside, too. Inside Now onto the space! It’s just perfect, isn’t it? Six Ravens It’s a grab-and-go restaurant, so you’ll order inside and then grab your coffees and head outside to find seating somewhere else. It was recommended on their Instagram that the coffyns are best enjoyed hot, so they also placed a limit of two coffyns per paying customer. Our box ready to go You’ll also be able to mix and match sauces, but they recommend sticking with the original offered sauces in the beginning since the staff has worked so hard to pair them together. More details It’s all very dark inside, so it might take your eyes a minute to adjust to the light. We’re already excited to go again to see if we can spot some hidden details. We’re just a few days away from the first Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party of the year, which kicks off in Magic Kingdom on August 7th and happens on select nights through October 31st. Cast Members at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party We can’t wait to be at the first party of the year to check out the exclusive dining options available, see the iconic nighttime entertainment that only happens at the party, and, of course, go trick-or-treating and ride some of our favorite rides with little to no wait. One of our favorite parts of the party, though, may not be what you expect — it’s seeing those iconic Cast Member costumes, and seeing just how much fun so many of those CMs have doing that shift, despite it being a late night! There’s a rumor flying around that those costumes could be going away this year — but how true actually is that, and what’s really going on? If you’re on social media, particularly Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), and/or TikTok, you’ve likely seen the rumors flying around that Disney will be changing the iconic Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Cast Member costumes. The current/original costumes are known for being bright, colorful, and easy to see even when the park gets dark. We love Cast Members! The rumor flying around, which has not been confirmed in any way, shape, or form, claims that there are new Cast Member costumes for this year’s party, and that they were posted to the Hub, which is a Cast Members-only internal system that Disney uses to post announcements. The photo was quickly shared on social media and has begun spreading rapidly. The “new costumes” rumored are an option of dark green pants or shorts, paired with a dark black short-sleeved shirt complete with a multi-colored pattern of coffins. When it comes to accessories, there’s a purple bat headband and purple bat bowtie, as well as a black belt. @partofbrookesworld on Instagram This is quite the difference between the current costumes, so we can see how the rumor has jarred Disney fans all over. We checked with a few anonymous Cast Member sources ourselves who work in Magic Kingdom, and none of them have heard anything from Disney for sure — they’ve only heard the rumors floating around on social media. Considering we’re only four days away from the start of the party, that’s important to keep in mind when we think about logistics. It’s also important to remember how expensive it would be for Disney to create an entire new set of Cast Member costumes that are only used a handful of nights, unless it would overall save money in the long run somehow. Change has been a constant at Walt Disney World since the very beginning, as rides, lands, and entire parks have transformed over the resort’s 50+ years of history. That extends to the current day as massive projects dot the landscape, from the transformation of the Carousel of Progress to the additions of Piston Peak, Villains Land, Monstropolis, Tropical Americas, and more. However, not every change involves transforming a classic attraction or creating a new mega-land. Some are much smaller. U.K Pavilion EPCOT Case in point, on our most recent visit to EPCOT, we noticed some minor changes around the World Showcase. Not major, world-changing events, but small elements that, while maybe not immediately noticeable, do change the flavor of their respective pavilions. Let’s begin in the United Kingdom, specifically the Sportsman’s Shoppe. This store is generally home to U.K.-specific souvenirs including football (soccer) paraphernalia, Beatles shirts, and other items that appeal to major Anglophiles. Sportsman’s Shoppe However, we noticed one of the store’s most recognizable thematic elements wasn’t working. The Medieval Diorama that’s generally supposed to operate every two minutes didn’t activate at all during a 10-minute span. This wouldn’t be the first time the diorama was down — several years ago it sat dusty and motionless — however, at one point, Disney did refurbish it. Movement was restored, everything was painted and freshened up, and the diorama looked great. Suffice to say, it seems to require some TLC once again. The Sportsman’s Shoppe diorama The issues with the diorama weren’t the only change in the Sportsman’s Shoppe. There was an area that was home to U.K.-specific snacks… Sportsman’s Shoppe …however, it’s been cleared out, and all food has moved to the Queen’s Table. Queen’s Table We noticed one more change of note in the American Adventure Pavilion. From June of 2024 through the 4th of July 2026, the American Adventure’s rotunda was home to the Portraits of Courage exhibit, which featured a collection of more than 60 paintings of post-9/11 veterans by former U.S. President George W. Bush. Portraits of Courage With the exhibition now closed, the artwork has been replaced by the original artwork, which has called the pavilion home for decades. American Adventure’s classic artwork has returned. While many guests will likely overlook these small changes on a conscious level, they do affect the overall impression the park leaves on people. Staying at a Disney World hotel comes with multiple different perks — complimentary transportation around the resort, Early Entry to any of the four theme parks each day, and if you’re staying at a Deluxe Resort, you can enjoy Extended Evening Hours on select dates. Typhoon Lagoon This summer, though, there’s been an additional perk added for anyone staying at any of the Disney World hotels, and it’s been a great way to beat the heat. If you’re staying at a Disney World hotel, you get FREE admission to one of Disney World’s two water parks on the day of your check-in. The catch? You’ve only got ONE more month to use the perk before it’s gone! This perk is available for those staying at a Disney World hotel from May 26th to September 8th, 2026, and you get the choice to visit either Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon. Every person in your group who’s on the hotel reservation will have the free water park perk, so it’s a great way to kick off your trip in a fun way that comes at no extra cost to you! Blizzard Beach It can only be used on your check-in day, though, which is something important to keep in mind. It’s not able to be transferred to another day, so it’s a use it or lose it situation! The perk started in 2025, and we do know it’ll make a return in the summer of 2027, though specific dates haven’t been confirmed yet. It’s also important to note that you can choose which water park to go to, unless one is closed for refurbishment — in that case, your ticket will only be valid at the one that’s open. When we’re looking for a dessert that’s going to blow our minds, we immediately head for The Cake Bake Shop on Disney’s BoardWalk. A new cake slice has dropped! Is it expensive? Absolutely, there’s no way of getting around that, but have we thought it’s been worth the price every time, especially from the bakery side that doesn’t require a reservation? YES. Time and time again! There’s a new cake slice available right now for the month of August, and, it won’t come as a shock to anyone, it’s an absolute BANGER. A slice of the Boston Cream Pie Cake is available now at The Cake Bake Shop for $22. This is six layers of vanilla cake filled with homemade pastry cream and vanilla buttercream, topped with Cake Bake’s Belgian fudge frosting, vanilla buttercream dollops, and maraschino cherries. Boston Cream Pie Cake It’s not often we see Boston Cream Pie desserts around Disney World, and this cake has us wondering why not! Like most Cake Bake slices, this cake is so light and so full of real, authentic vanilla flavor. It has an excellent crumb and just melts in your mouth, and the outer edge of rich, fudgy chocolate ganache just really elevates each bite. It’s everything that you want chocolate to be, and balancing it with these incredibly light layers of vanilla flavors is an absolutely perfect bite. We could eat this ALL day Anybody that is familiar with the classic Boston cream pie will absolutely love this, and those that aren’t will have a new favorite.
