Sleepy Hollow Refreshments A ticket to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party gets you access to exclusive food and drinks that are only available at the party. Well, we’re visiting Sleepy Hollow Refreshments to check out some party-exclusive snacks, and we’re here to give you our honest review of ALL of them. You’ll find some ghoulish delights lurking at Sleepy Hollow Refreshments, including some snacks inspired by the Haunted Mansion. We’re starting with one such spooky snack, the Doom Buggy Dumplings for $PRICE, which are chicken dumplings with red miso gochujang sauce, furikake, and chili threads. Ooh, SPICY. [PHOTOS/TASTING NOTES] Not to be outdone, you can also grab the Graveyard Hot Chicken and Waffle for $PRICE made with Nashville hot chicken strips, blue cornmeal waffle, and pickle ranch. Um…pickle ranch? Okay, Disney, we see you. [PHOTOS/TASTING NOTES] We also grabbed the Hatbox Ghost Pop, which is chocolate crumbs layered with chocolate mousse and dulce de leche, topped with blue crispy pearls and a chocolate piece for $PRICE. Would Hatbox Ghost approve, though? [PHOTOS/TASTING NOTES] If you’re feeling like you need just a little extra something sweet, you can also get the Pumpkin-spiced Funnel Cake Sundae here for $PRICE. It’s a pumpkin funnel cake topped with pumpkin gelato, whipped cream, pumpkin-spiced caramel, candy pumpkins, and sprinkles. We had this last year, and let’s just say that if you love pumpkin spice, do yourself a favor and order this treat. It’s really the best of both worlds: funnel cake and pumpkin spice. Pumpkin-spiced Funnel Cake Sundae We’re not done yet, though! We’re eating and drinking our way around Disney World for the fall and Halloween season, so stay tuned to DFB for more reviews. 3. Halloween has officially come to Disney World, and we couldn’t be more excited! Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party has officially kicked off, and with it comes a TON of new eats, drinks, merchandise, entertainment, and more at Magic Kingdom. Headless Horseman Treat There are over 50 spooky snacks at this year’s event, most of which are exclusive and only available during the party. Right now, we’re heading to Casey’s Corner to check out a new treat that’s only available during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, so come along with us! We stopped by Casey’s Corner to grab the new Headless Horseman Treat for $6.99. This is a pumpkin pie tart topped with whipped cheesecake, spiced caramel panna cotta, candied pecans, and marshmallow buttercream “flames”. Headless Horseman Treat If you consider yourself a pumpkin lover, a cheesecake lover, or both, this tart is worth seeking out. The pumpkin pie filling is smooth and mousse-like, and it holds its own against the whipped cheesecake layer rather than being overpowered by it — the two flavors stay well balanced from the first bite to the last. The pumpkin filling is also spiced with a light hand; rather than leaning hard into cinnamon the way so many fall desserts do, the spice level here feels intentional and restrained, letting the pumpkin flavor come through clearly. Pumpkin fans will love! The whipped cheesecake layer is the real standout for us. It’s silky smooth with just the right amount of tang, giving it that classic cream cheese cheesecake flavor without tasting artificial or overly sweet. Underneath it all, the pâte sucrée crust is soft, tender, and delicately crumbly — it breaks apart easily with each bite rather than fighting back, which is exactly what you want from a good tart shell. Dig in! The candied pecans add a welcome crunch and a toasty, spiced contrast to all that creaminess, though our one critique is a matter of proportion rather than flavor: we found ourselves wishing for a slightly more generous scattering of pecans across the top. For fans of nutty toppings, a touch more crunch would take this treat from great to perfect. The back of the treat There are a few other party treats you can grab while you’re at Casey’s Corner! It’s worth noting that you can Mobile Order here and that could save you some time if you order ahead. Casey’s Corner Party Menu Items You can also grab the Chipotle Barbecue Pork and Street Corn French Fries at Casey’s during the party. These are French fries topped with fire-roasted corn, queso fresco, jalapeño ranch, and cilantro for $8.49. These are classic Disney fries, but the toppings take them up a notch. You also get a good topping-per-fry ratio, and honestly, these could seriously be a meal. These were good! And, don’t forget the Chipotle Barbecue Pork and Street Corn Mini Corn Dogs for $13.49. These are mini corn dogs topped with fire-roasted corn, queso fresco, jalapeño ranch, and cilantro. We didn’t love these as much as the fries, but the flavors with the topping are delicious. The pork is tender, and the queso fresco is OH, so creamy (plus you get a lot — and you know we love the cheese). Both of these snacks have a bit of spice, but trust us, it’s not overwhelming. The topping is also available on hot dogs, too! The Chipotle Barbecue Pork and Street Corn Hot Dog for $15.49 is another option that comes with the same toppings as well! mi Chipotle BBQ Pork Corn Dogs Nuggets We’ll be bringing you everything you need to know about Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom this year, so make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Halloween news from Disney World and more! 4. What’s this? What’s this? Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is officially here, and it’s time for us to celebrate the spooky season. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a special ticketed event that takes place at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom from August 7th through October 31st. The event brings exclusive entertainment, snacks, and experiences. Oh, and did we mention the party also has exclusive merchandise? As popcorn bucket lovers, you know what the first thing we did was when we entered. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party has not one, but TWO exclusive popcorn buckets available for purchase, and we’re obsessed with them. The first one we’re going to show is going to be a popular buy for all you foolish mortals! Hatbox Ghost Popcorn Bucket We sprinted to the popcorn carts near Cinderella Castle to get our hands on the exclusive Hatbox Ghost Popcorn Bucket! The popcorn bucket features the iconic Haunted Mansion character’s face in his hatbox, which you can see through the clear window on the front side of the bucket. Hatbox Ghost Popcorn Bucket You pop open the lid on the top to access the popcorn. It comes with a strap so that you can carry it on your shoulder, stroller, or bag. The strap is decorated with the Disney Parks logo, bats on a moon, and various Haunted Mansion icons. Popcorn goes in the top! On the back of the popcorn bucket, you’ll find the Haunted Mansion title logo. You’ll also see a lever at the base of the popcorn bucket that rotates open a door so that he becomes visible and invisible, mimicking the appearing/disappearing effect found in the attraction. The Haunted Mansion There’s also a switch at the base of the popcorn bucket that is for turning on lights and sounds! It’ll cost you $28. It lights up! The second exclusive bucket is the Headless Horseman Popcorn Bucket! Of course, this features the classic Halloween character riding on the back of his black horse, pumpkin head in hand. Headless Horseman Popcorn Bucket It’s a very unique popcorn bucket that doesn’t hold a lot of popcorn, but you can’t deny its cool design and detail. Just look at the pumpkin head and the horse’s face. Look at this bucket! You store the popcorn in the horse’s back, which actually makes for a cool pose when you open it up, like how it would look if the Headless Horseman was leaning back on the saddle when the horse lifts up its legs. Popcorn goes on the horse’s back The strap for the popcorn bucket has the character on it as well as jack-o-lanterns and smoke. This one is $30. The strap on the bucket! If you’re looking for something a little less scary, you’ll also be able to pick up a Vampire Mickey Bucket during the day (meaning it isn’t a party exclusive). You’ll find those at snack carts around Magic Kingdom: Adventureland snack cart near Jungle Cruise Liberty Square snack cart near Liberty Tree Tavern Fantasyland snack cart near Gaston’s Tavern Frontierland snack cart near Pecos Bill’s and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad You’ll also find this item at popcorn carts in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and EPCOT. Vampire Mickey Mouse Bucket Oh, and the Halloween Pooh Sipper is available at Pinocchio Village Haus at Magic Kingdom and select locations at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and EPCOT. The most adorable thing I’ve ever seen As for the Hatbox Ghost and Headless Horseman popcorn, those are party-exclusive items ONLY! Who wants popcorn? 5. Tonight’s the night! Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is officially BACK, and we’re here to bring you all the details as the very first party of the season kicks off. Treat bag! Before you head in for candy, characters, and (Not-So-Scary) frights, there’s one decision you’ll need to make early on that can seriously affect how you spend your first hour of the party — so let’s talk about it. The party begins at 7 PM, but party guests can enter Magic Kingdom at 4 PM if you just have a party ticket. If you’re a daytime guest already in Magic Kingdom and are staying for the party, you’ll start your night off differently. If you’re planning to be in the park before the Halloween Party starts, you’ve got a choice to make about when and where to pick up your party wristband. You can grab it at the official party entrance out front when the party begins, or you can pick it up at various locations inside the park while you’re already there for regular park hours. Sounds simple enough — but there’s a catch. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Map! We tested out the inside-the-park pickup option today, and the line was long. Like, really long — it stretched all the way around to Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies, snaking through the old switchbacks from Stitch’s Great Escape queue. Cast Members were posted throughout the line letting guests know how the process would work, and there was signage set up to help keep things moving as efficiently as possible. Even so, it still took about 20 minutes to get through. The line! Knowing what we know now, we would have waited to get our wristband out front at the party entrance instead of tackling that line mid-day. So, Should You Wait Inside or Head Out Front? Here’s our advice: if you’re inside the park before the party and you’re not planning to rush for a popcorn bucket or get in line early for a specific character like Jack or Sally, it’s probably better to hold off on grabbing your wristband right when inside pickup opens. Instead, wait until closer to party start time, after the initial rush has died down. You’ll likely spend a lot less time standing in a switchback line and a lot more time actually enjoying the party. Our Wristband You’ll Also Miss Out on the Fun at the Front Entrance There’s another big reason to consider heading to the official party entrance instead: it is a really good time this year. Instead of the usual DJ dance party, guests are welcomed by Lockwood, the Chief Steward of the Haunted Mansion, who greets everyone with funny, ghostly one-liners as they walk through. It’s a great way to kick off the night. Lockwood, the Chief Steward of the Haunted Mansion Once you’re through the entrance, you’ll get your treat bag — prestocked with Twix this year — and there’s a photo opportunity set up with two of the Boo to You grave diggers. If you pick up your wristband inside the park ahead of time, you’ll miss this entrance experience entirely, since it’s only happening at the front gate as the party kicks off. You won’t want to miss this! Tonight marks the first Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party of the season, and we’re on-site soaking up every detail so you don’t have to guess what’s waiting for you. 7. When the crypt doors creak and the tombstones quake, spooks come out for a swinging wake… Party map and Treat bag! That song can only mean one thing: it’s time for Halloween! It’s officially Halloween season at Disney World, and that means Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is back. We’re live at the very first party of the year, so grab your candy buckets and costume and let’s get spooky. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a separately ticketed event that runs on select nights in Magic Kingdom from now till October 31st. The party runs from 7 PM till midnight, but you can enter the park starting at 4 PM to enjoy some time in Magic Kingdom before it closes to the public for the party. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary-Halloween Party! For 2026, tickets range from $119 to $229, plus tax, depending on what date you choose to attend. Typically, the dates closer to Halloween are more expensive. Your ticket gets you access to rides, entertainment, food, and more. Certain dates are known to sell out, so make sure you grab your tickets sooner rather than later! Getting Started Since you can get in at 4 PM for some extra time, we got there early, along with a lot of other guests. We parked at the Transportation & Ticket Center before we hopped on the ferryboat over to Magic Kingdom. Transportation and Ticket Center Once you scan in, you get a wristband that separates you from the other day guests. If you’re already in Magic Kingdom, there are a few different stops inside where you can get your wristband without having to leave the park. You can grab them at the Wristband Distribution stands. Our Wristband Crowds If there’s one thing we know about Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, it’s going to be busy! There was a bit of a crowd waiting to scan into the parks. Crowds at entrance While it may be Halloween time, it’s still super hot out in Florida, so you might be standing in direct heat for a while. Don’t forget the sunscreen, hats, and anything else you need to cool down. crowds waiting to get in Once inside, the crowds funnel to the right where you’ll pick up your treat bag! Crowds heading to Not-So-Scary! The Map After you scan in and get your wristband, you can pick up a special map, which will tell you everything you need to know. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Map! It has showtimes, trick-or-treat locations, character meet-and-greets, snack spots, and more! It’s also an amazing keepsake for your super fun night. Full Map! You can also find information in the My Disney Experience app, but we like having a physical copy, too. See the FULL 2026 Party Map Here! Trick-or-Treating When you enter, you’ll also get a reusable treat bag! You might want to bring a bigger bag to grab candy because Disney likes to give you massive scoops of candy, but there are other keepsakes you get to enjoy. Here’s a look at the front side… Treat bag! …and what the back looks like this year. Boo to You! They’ll also give you your first bit of candy for the night. This year it was Twix. Twix If you have food allergies, don’t worry, you aren’t forgotten about. You’ll get a special bag and can still trick-or-treat throughout the night. Instead of picking up candy, you’ll grab tokens at each stop and exchange them for special treats at the end of the night. You can find all of the candy stops on the map, but you can also look for the big blow-up signs marking the candy spots. Halloween at Disney World Characters When we grabbed our map and candy bag, there were some characters greeting us! Lockwood, the Chief Steward of the Haunted Mansion. He’s was welcoming guests with funny ghosty things as you walk in! Lockwood, the Chief Steward of the Haunted Mansion One of the most popular meet-and-greets is Jack and Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas. If you’re planning on meeting them, you should plan to get there early and expect a long wait. Most of the time, the line opens early so people can start to line up before the party starts, so if you know meeting them is on your list, make sure you’re prepared to wait. 8. Let’s see how these purple Disney World snacks stack up! Ube Yum Yum Coconut Cookie We’re constantly checking in with our favorite snacks around Disney World, from our top picks by park to Dole Whip power rankings. If you’re on the hunt for a purple treat to beautify your Instagram feed, today’s snack round-up is for you! Let’s take a look at six purple snacks we recently tried in Disney World — including our FAVORITE of the bunch, which also happens to be the cheapest! Tweedledee Egg Salad Sandwich We recently headed to the newly reopened Garden View Lounge — Tea Experience at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort to check out everything this swanky experience has to offer. The tea experience is pretty pricey at $79 per adult or $49 per child, and it comes with a selection of small bites all themed to Alice in Wonderland. There are some seriously eye-catching eats included, like the Tweedledee Egg Salad Sandwich, which is a traditional egg salad on beet bread with a vibrant magenta color! Tweedledee Egg Salad Sandwich Even though we enjoyed lots of the other small bites, the Tweedledee Egg Salad Sandwich honestly wasn’t our favorite. It had a hint of sweetness from the beet bread and was served with crumbled bacon, which added a nice saltiness, but we weren’t wowed by the flavor overall and thought the cute presentation was the best part. Afternoon Tea Tower Basically, if you’re already interested in checking out the Garden View Lounge Tea Experience, the Tweedledee Egg Salad Sandwich is worth sampling along with the other selection of foods, but we wouldn’t call this purple snack destination-worthy in itself, especially considering the cost! Blueberry Lemonade Cake Slice If you’ve been following us for awhile, you’ve probably heard about our love of Gideon’s Bakehouse in Disney Springs for their incredible (and MASSIVE) cookies and cake slices! On top of their regular menu, Gideon’s also releases limited-time flavors that rotate monthly, one of which was the Blueberry Lemonade Cake Slice. Blueberry Lemonade Cake This beauty is a lemon curd swirl cake with fresh blueberry jam, graham cracker crust crumble, and a vibrant blueberry buttercream — and there’s no food coloring in it, so that gorgeous purple color is all-natural! We absolutely loved the flavor combination here and the texture was perfectly moist and fresh. Look at the fluffiness! Plus, at $11, it was actually a pretty reasonable price for such a HUGE slice of cake! Unfortunately, since this was a seasonal flavor, it was only available on Wednesdays and Saturdays in May this year. But Gideon’s regularly brings back their limited-time flavors in following years, so we’re keeping our fingers crossed that this one will return again! Star Command Popcorn This year, we’ve seen lots of Toy Story 5-inspired treats around the Disney parks in celebration of the movie’s release! There were a few purple snacks included in the list, like the Star Command Popcorn that we grabbed at Market and Popcorn & Snacks at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for $9.49. Star Command Popcorn It’s a pre-packaged kettle corn mix with green apple and grape flavors. The purple popcorn had a mild artificial grape flavor that reminded us of sweet candy. The green pieces were more sweet than sour, with some tartness showing up in the aftertaste. Overall, the general sweet kettle corn flavor was more powerful than the fruity flavors, though. Star Command Popcorn This was a solid on-the-go snack for fans of kettle corn, and even though it might not have been at the very top of our list of favorite purple treats, we definitely weren’t mad about it! Zurg Overlord Shake Speaking of Toy Story 5 treats, we also snagged the Zurg Overlord Shake from Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies in Magic Kingdom for $9.29. It’s a vanilla shake with cherry coating, purple marshmallow-flavored whipped cream, sprinkles, and a Zurg-themed chocolate piece. Zurg Overload Shake The vanilla shake was exactly the classic flavor you’d expect. The coating didn’t crack enough to combine with the shake, and when we had a bite, it was mostly flavorless. But that purple marshmallow whipped cream was actually the star of the show – it was both flavorful and gave the shake a fun appearance! Motonnui Ube Sundae Another recent movie release that got its own selection of celebratory snacks is the live-action Moana. We tried the Motonnui Ube Sundae from Anandapur Ice Cream Truck in Animal Kingdom for $7.29, and it was definitely one of our favorite purple snacks of the year! Motonui Ube Sundae It’s made with ube soft-serve topped with tropical fruits, coconut, raspberry crumbs, and macadamia, and we loved how unique the flavor and texture combo was! The ice cream was super smooth and had an incredibly deep flavor, and both the firm fruit and slightly crunchy coconut added a lovely mix of textures. Gorgeous and delicious If you’re looking for a purple treat that’s gorgeous, tasty, AND unique, this one checks all the boxes! Ube Yum Yum Coconut Cookie We’ve been impressed with most of the cookies we’ve tried at Earl of Sandwich in Disney Springs, and the Ube Yum Yum Coconut Cookie was no exception! It’s a vibrant take on the classic sweet treat that’s just as delicious as it is eye-catching! Ube Yum Yum Coconut Cookie This is certainly no ordinary cookie — it’s packed with bright purple hues that hint at the tropical flavors inside, and its soft, chewy texture makes it feel a little extra special for an on-the-go indulgence. The subtle, earthy sweetness of ube pairs beautifully with the rich, toasty notes of coconut. It’s not overly sweet, and the coconut adds a bit of tropical crunch that gives the cookie a nice balance of texture and flavor. Ube Yum Yum Coconut Cookie And to make it even better, at $5.79, it’s actually the cheapest purple snack on our list! Talk about a win-win! We’ll keep tasting our way through allll of the snacks around Disney World — both new and classic — to see which ones hold up, so stay tuned to Disney Food Blog for the latest updates! 9. POPCORN BUCKET ALERT! A new popcorn bucket has arrived on the scene! Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party has officially started in Magic Kingdom, and while that means tons of special snacks, candy, entertainment, and fireworks, it also means a new popcorn bucket. Two of the popcorn buckets this year are part of the special souvenirs that are only available during the event, but there are also two new additions that you can get all throughout the season. When it comes to party-specific popcorn buckets and, lines can get long, so you’ll want to get there early. The buckets are also known to sell out, so if it’s something you can’t live without, earlier is better. Sometimes, we see these buckets being released to the public outside of the party closer to Halloween, but it’s not something guaranteed. The best way to get your hands on it is to have a party ticket. This year, the two popcorn buckets available exclusively during the party are the Hatbox Ghost Bucket and Headless Horseman Bucket, both available at various popcorn stands around the park. ©Disney However, there are also two additions available all day throughout the season, as long as supplies last. One is the Winnie the Pooh Hunny Bee Sipper, only available at the popcorn cart near Pinocchio Village Haus. We can’t get over how absolutely adorable it is! It’ll cost you $22.99 and includes any fountain beverage of your choice at the time of purchase. Winnie the Pooh Hunny Bee Sipper You can also grab the Vampire Mickey Mouse Bucket. You can find this bucket at multiple popcorn carts throughout Magic Kingdom, and we usually grab ours by the cart to the right of Cinderella Castle. It costs $28, and it’s perfectly spooky in every way. Vampire Mickey Mouse Bucket It comes with a box of popcorn included in the price, and you’ll find that the jack-o-lantern lights up! That’s one of our favorite details, personally, and we’ve got a feeling he’ll be pretty popular. Yum! This year, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party runs on select nights from August 7th to October 31st, and tickets cost between $119 and $199, with more expensive nights being closer to Halloween. The party runs from 7 PM to 12 AM, but you can enter Magic Kingdom as early as 4 PM, which is great for getting some food and extra rides in before the special experiences start. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Last year, the popcorn bucket was dedicated to Jack Skellington from The Nightmare Before Christmas! This thing was so big, and we were glad it came with a carrying strap because we’re not sure how we would have carried it the whole night. 10. Universal Orlando opened Epic Universe in May 2025, and we’re already seeing plans for future updates to the park! Epic Universe! Construction is underway in plots of land adjacent to the park where expansions can go, and we’ve spotted several permits filed so far that hint at future attractions and offerings. But now, there’s a new patent that could reveal even more details. The patent was original filed by Universal back in 2023, but was recently approved. The design is for “propulsion for an amusement park ride” and shows figures of a new type of ride vehicle. ©Universal The figures showcase a two-person vehicle with what appears to be a steering apparatus in the middle. It’s propelled by two different fluids that surround the vehicle at the base. There are two different models in the patent — one where the fluid around the vehicle is held in a curved shape, and one where it’s more free-flowing. ©Universal There’s also a model that appears to show the path this ride vehicle would take, featuring a “station” (possibly a spot to board the ride) and two rounded rectangular paths. One figure in the patent shows the ride vehicle’s ability to go up a hill, so it’s possible that one of the rectangular paths in this diagram is located above the other. ©Universal The patent explains how the ride vehicle would work in a flow chart, noting that the system is built with a trough base and vehicles are propelled above the floor using fluids. ©Universal We’ll be on the lookout for Universal to use this patent in any future attractions. We know that there’s more for Epic Universe on the horizon, so could it be for a new ride there? Or perhaps a new ride at one of Universal’s other parks? We’ll let you know as soon as Universal makes any announcements. What Is Coming to Epic Universe? See an Important Permit Here! 12. If you’ve been a fan of DFB for a while, you know we love a themed treat! Queen of Hearts Tart We’re all about the seasonal snacks in Disney World with fun character, movie, or attraction themes, and now that Halloween has kicked off in Magic Kingdom, we’re trying a BUNCH of new treats. For this one, let’s head on over to one of our favorite snack stands in the park… Cheshire Café! We’re stopping by Cheshire Café in Fantasyland to grab the Queen of Hearts Tart for $5.79. This snack is only available during regular park hours of Halloween season, as Cheshire Café is closed during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Queen of Hearts Tart This is a cute little tart with artwork of the Queen of Hearts on top, made to look like a playing card! It’s filled with sour cherry pie filling so we’re hoping it has a little bit of punch to it. Let’s try it out! Queen of Hearts Tart The tart dough tasted ultra-sweet like a sugar cookie, but it was flaky and crumbly like pie crust. The cherry filling was slightly sour, but not enough to balance out the tart dough, so this tart is still very sweet. The Queen of Hearts decoration on top was made of edible paper that tasted really artificial, but after we peeled it off, it became a solid fall snack! The inside! If you’re coming to Magic Kingdom soon, you might want to check this out if that sounds like your vibe! 14. If you have been online in the past few days, then we’re sure you have seen the Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party rumors. Cast Members at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Information has been spreading that the beloved Cast Member costumes are changing, and now that opening night of the Party has arrived, it’s time to see if the rumors are true… In case you missed it, the rumors circulating suggested that the iconic neon green costumes with orange gingham and purple bats would be leaving the party in favor of a much more basic outfit. It’s safe to say that as soon as this rumor surfaced, Disney fans were immediately outraged. We love Cast Members! These outfits have become an iconic staple of the event and are a fan-favorite part of the Party for guests. The rumor online shared that these new Cast Member costumes had been posted on the Hub, a Cast Member-only system. You can see the rumored new costumes here. @partofbrookesworld on Instagram However, there has been much speculation back and forth on whether or not the rumors were true. And now it’s time to know: when we visited the Halloween Party today, we saw that the rumors are TRUE. The Cast Member costumes for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party have officially changed. A look at the new costumes! However, we will say that we personally think the costumes are way cuter in person than they appeared on the leaked photo. Not only that, but we spoke to a few Cast Members about their thoughts, and the overwhelming consensus is that these are so light and so comfortable, and they do have some options like the bat bowtie. A lot of the girls are wearing headbands that have the bat, or using them in their hair. Cast Members were telling us that they’re very breathable and they’re so much happier in these costumes than the previous cute, but very warm, dresses. Happy Cast Members are VERY important, so while we already miss the bright, fun designs of the previous outfits, we’re thrilled that most Cast Members are feeling much better. Cast Members also confirmed with us that the costumes do NOT glow in the dark, and a few of them are disappointed that they don’t. Another version of the new costumes Other than all this costume craziness, there is so much fun to be found at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, including special Halloween entertainment, like the Boo To You Parade. There is also exclusive food, trick-or-treating, special character appearances, and so much more! Mickey’s Boo To You! Halloween Parade It really is one of the best ways to immerse yourself in the Halloween season. This year, the event runs select nights from August 7th through October 31st. We cannot wait to experience the rest of the spooky fun the party has in store this year! 17. One of our favorite holidays has officially taken over Disney World — Halloween! And with it comes a TON of new eats, drinks, merchandise, entertainment, and more at Magic Kingdom. Time to eat! There are over 50 spooky snacks at this year’s Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, most of which are exclusive and only available during the party. However, a handful of these treats are available during the day without a separate party ticket. Come with us to the Plaza Restaurant to try some new, spooky eats and drinks! This menu is available through October 31st, and the best part about it is that you don’t even need a Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party ticket to try it, as the items are available during regular park hours! Since the Plaza Restaurant is a table-service spot, reservations are highly recommended, though you can always try to join the Walk-Up Waitlist as well. Plaza Restaurant When we tried the Plaza Restaurant’s Halloween menu last year, we had a blast and loved everything, so we’re excited to see how these new menu items stack up this year! We love the Halloween decor! We grabbed the NEW Devilish Crispy Chicken Sandwich, which comes with ghoulish spiced mayonnaise, red cabbage, and Fresno peppers on a black Kaiser roll, served with French fries. You can get this for $26. Devilish Crispy Chicken Sandwich This was crispy with a surprisingly spicy sauce — it was spicier than we were expecting for Disney World! The cabbage slaw helped balance the spiciness, though, and we really appreciated the flavor they both brought to the dish. The bread was soft and fluffy and didn’t lose any of its flavor or texture from the coloring, which was a major win. Overall, we’d absolutely get it again, and totally recommend it if you don’t mind some spice! We loved it! For dessert, we also picked up the new Phantom Pecan-Caramel Cheesecake. This is layers of New York and caramel cheesecake with dulce de leche, chocolate ganache, and pecans on a chocolate crust for $10. Phantom Pecan-Caramel Cheesecake Talk about a delicious cheesecake! This was very rich, but the caramel was so smooth and had the perfect level of sweetness. The cheesecake itself was very decadent and so easy to cut through; it literally melted in our mouths. The chocolate itself was also very well balanced in terms of flavor, making the whole dessert not overly sweet. It’s another one we’d absolutely get again! Decadent in the best way You can also get the Skull Meatloaf — a Caribbean-style glazed meatloaf served with loaded mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables for $27. When we had this last year, we thought the mashed potatoes had hints of pumpkin spice, which was weird but interesting! It tasted good, but again, it tasted like pumpkin spice, which is different for potatoes. This one definitely had to grow on us. There’s bacon in it, which gives it a bite and cuts through the pumpkin spice. We liked it paired with the meatloaf. Skull Meatloaf?! … and the Goblins and Ghoulies cocktail for $17.50. This comes with Captain Morgan Original Spiced Rum, Disaronno Originale Liqueur, apple cider, and pomegranate juice. Last year, we thought this one was delicious. The fruit flavor was very apparent but not overwhelming, and it was not very strong. It reminded us more of a punch, like a Capri Sun. The rum wasn’t very strong, which was perfect for peeps who don’t love super strong alcohol flavors. You could taste a bit of the spice right on your tongue, but again, it’s not hit you over the head with spices. It was very good, and we would absolutely drink again! If you’re looking for a strong rum flavor, this isn’t for you. 19. Recently, The Walt Disney Company hosted an earnings call to go over the latest financial reports. The Walt Disney Company headquarters in California During this call, we learned a lot about what Disney has planned for the future, including turbocharging growth in the experiences section of the company and increasing content spending. But in addition to those goals, we got more information about changes coming to Disney’s streaming services in the near future. At the end of the earnings call, a question was asked about the integration of Disney+ and Hulu, requesting an update on the merger’s progress. Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro answered, saying that Hulu subscribers can link their profiles and watch history on Disney+ while getting a “personalized and unified experience.” There’s still more work to be done, but some big changes are coming later this year. ©Disney D’Amaro shared that by the end of 2026, Hulu subscribers will see live TV and other add-ons rolling out. Also, the Verts section will be strengthened by Disney’s new deal with TikTok. Disney+ has the opportunity to be an aggregator of third-party services through bundles and add-ons. ©Disney As it currently stands, you can access a dedicated Hulu portal through your Disney+ and Hulu bundle to see the content that’s important to you. A few months ago, Disney+ announced it would begin testing a live guide, where subscribers can easily search for live content — this will likely integrate into the changes D’Amaro was discussing during the earnings call. ©Disney It looks like Disney is doing everything possible to level up the streaming game and try and catch up with their competitors. 20. Yet another major construction project is about to begin at one of Disney World’s most popular hotels. Coronado Springs Beginning on August 10th, the Convention Center at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort will begin a planned refurbishment. The project is expected to stretch through September 2027. Furthermore, the hotel’s El Centro Corridor and surrounding areas will also undergo refurbishment tied to the convention center refurbishment. The convention center during Destination D23 According to Disney, work will be completed in phases, with certain spaces being temporarily inaccessible at times. The work will take place overnight to “help minimize impacts to daily operations.” However, Disney does stress that guests may see or hear construction activity in the area while work is ongoing. Lost City of Cibola pool Coronado Springs is far from the only popular Disney hotel that will see construction through most of 2027. The popular Value Tier Art of Animation Resort will be undergoing a phased room refurbishment throughout the year. Beginning in the spring, the resort’s standard rooms and family suites will be transformed and modernized. While retaining the theme, the new Little Mermaid rooms will feature new under-the-sea prints and a Murphy bed — similar to the current layout of the rooms at Pop Century Resort — along with a seashell bed and chairs. Furthermore, the company said that Imagineering and facilities are working together to maintain the feeling of stepping into a movie, which is obviously integral to rooms such as Cars and Toy Story. The resort will remain open throughout this refurbishment. Art of Animation Further rehab projects happening that will be ongoing through late 2026 and into 2027 include: Boardwalk Exterior Refurbishment: Through Late 2026 Wilderness Lodge Exterior Refurbishment: Late 2026 Yacht Club Exterior Maintenance: Late 2026 All-Star Movies Refurbishment: May 2026 to January 2027 Animal Kingdom Lodge Jambo House Refurbishment: May 2026 to January 2027 Grand Floridian Resort-Wide Refurbishment Including Porte-cochère: Through early 2027 Port Orleans Room Refurbishment: Through August 2027 Beach Club Exterior Refurbishment: Through Late 2027 Contemporary Resort-Wide Refurbishment: Through Late 2027 Jambo House Construction A major refurbishment of the Coronado Springs Convention Center is set to begin on August 10th and stretch through September of 2027. 21. We love going to Epic Universe in Universal Orlando. Where else can you race Mario, ride dragons, fight monsters, and battle wizards all in one day? Epic Universe! But Universal just threw a wrench into our plans because a popular Epic Universe ride is closing for its second refurb in a year! Fyre Drill is a super popular ride in How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk in Epic Universe. You’ll board a boat and take a trek down Berk’s Fyre Skööl, where twins Ruffnut and Tuffnut have designed an interactive boat battle, in which you take on the role of a villager preparing to protect the town against fire-breathing dragons! You’ll blast water cannons at flame-like targets to practice putting out fires – a crucial skill to master when living with dragons. Fyre Drill Fyre Drill will close from January 25th to February 4th, 2027, for a scheduled refurbishment. The water ride was closed from February 1st to February 14th, 2026, for a brief refurbishment and routine maintenance. Water attractions like this often have scheduled downtime during the cooler months, when demand is lower and mechanical systems benefit most from detailed checks, so this could be the start of a yearly closure! This ride will get you SOAKED Earlier this year, Fyre Drill was originally listed to be temporarily closed from February 1st to 7th, 2026, but the closure was extended to February 14th, 2026. 22. There’s a new land coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and we’re on the hunt for every little update! @Disney The Tropical Americas land is replacing what used to be DinoLand, U.S.A. in Animal Kingdom, and it’s set to open in 2027. We’ve been watching the construction site closely for updates on the new attractions and offerings, and now we’ve got some tidbits to share! During a recent visit to this park, we noticed two new construction updates. It looks like the entrances to Tropical Americas (and its fictional town known as Pueblo Esperanza) are taking shape! A new addition! First, at what used to be DinoLand’s main entrance, we spotted this metal framework for an archway. This looks like it will be the main entrance for visitors, opening into the area with the carousel and the restaurant. This structure is pictured in the concept art of the entire Tropical Americas land. The new entrance? Then, as we walked around the “back” of the land, closer to Finding Nemo: The Big Blue…and Beyond, there are more new structures, though these seem to be further along in the decorative process. Two stone columns have been added, and construction workers have even made them look weathered and “crumbly” on top. The brick columns! This looks like it will be the other entrance to Tropical Americas, close to the spot where you could enter the DinoRama section of DinoLand. This entrance isn’t as easily visible on the concept art, so it’s hard to tell if these will be two separate pillars or if they’ll be connected in a stone archway. A new column! We can’t wait to see these entrances come along more as construction continues. We’re getting hyped for Tropical Americas, particularly the Encanto and Indiana Jones attractions that will be added! Of course, there’s no doubt we’ll be excited for all the delicious new eats as well. ©Disney We’ve got our fingers crossed for more information about this new land at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, which takes place August 14th-16th, 2026. We’ll be there to report on all the news, so stay tuned. Learn All About the New Land HERE! Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! Click here to Subscribe! 23. Every quarter of the year, Disney hosts an earnings call to update shareholders and anyone else who would like to listen in on how the company is doing. ©Disney It’s a great way to understand what the company is focusing on, changes we could possibly see hit the parks or other aspects of the company, and to get some answers about what Disney is thinking when it comes to next steps. The latest earnings call was held on Wednesday, August 5th, and it was CEO Josh D’Amaro’s third time leading the call. During the call, he highlighted four things the company is especially focusing on moving ahead, and it gives us an insight on what to expect for the future. During the recent earnings call, Josh D’Amaro was asked about the company’s top priorities right now. His response was that while the company currently generates a lot of free cash flow, they’re not looking to build cash or the balance sheet at this time. Instead, one of the main goals is to drive growth and cap the return to shareholders. ©Disney He continued to break it down further, outlining three major goals the company is currently focused on reaching. The first is working on investing back into the business to drive growth. Disney is working on “TURBOCHARGING experiences growth,” which could mean we continue to see new additions and updated practices in the parks to drive more people to visit. Disney, and Josh D’Amaro himself, has often talked about making sure that the guest experience in the park is as great as it can possibly be, and it sounds like this is still a main focus to help them invest back into the business. ©Disney The second goal is working on a plan to grow content spending over time. Disney is on track to spend $24 billion across the company on content, which is up pretty modestly from previous numbers. It’s assumed that this content is mostly talking about TV shows and movies, both in theaters and on their streaming platform, though it’s possible there could be other types of content included in that statement as well. ©Disney The third goal Josh D’Amaro briefly mentioned was increasing shareholder dividends. The Walt Disney Company is highly focused on operating with speed and agility so they can invest in accelerating growth, and that work is ongoing. Josh then continued to elaborate on this answer as a whole, saying, “in order for us to compete successfully, we’re clear on what we need to do: invest in our core competitive advantages.” He went on to say that their approach is to leverage Disney’s own IP and own that DTC relationship through their platforms. That positions them in the best place to monetize across the entire ecosystem, and owning the relationship gives them data, consumer insight, etc. The streaming industry is consolidating through acquisitions, but Josh clarified that that fact won’t change their path, helped by the fact that the company has a long history of partnering and streaming, which Disney will keep building. Josh finished by saying that the company has been able to segment the marketplace through bundling, and they’ve seen retention improve the further up the ladder customers go, and that they feel really good about where they currently sit as a company. ©Disney This is exactly why we love these earnings calls, though they can sometimes be a little difficult to decode — now we’ve got a clear picture of what Disney is really focusing on. Could that change in a week? Sure, but it could also stay the same for months, and give us a heads-up on what to watch and look for. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all the latest Disney news, so stay tuned to DFB. Disney Is All In With AI. Here’s Their Rationale. 25. Spaceship Earth. When you think about what is one of the most iconic rides (and icons) in Disney World, we bet you’re not just hearing Dame Judi Dench’s narration in your head, but you’re probably also envisioning all the scenes in the ride that tell the history of communication on Earth. And you’re certainly envisioning that giant golfball-shaped architecture. Spaceship Earth Now, for a while, Spaceship Earth was due to get a big update during the big EPCOT transformation, but 2020 happened, so the update didn’t happen. But you know what did happen? According to The Hollywood Reporter, Spaceship Earth will get a TV series… Yep, the ride is getting a TV show before it gets an update. Let’s talk about it. Disney’s streaming service, Disney+, has ordered a pilot episode for Spaceship Earth, a TV show based on the classic opening day EPCOT ride. And you may be wondering, how on EARTH is someone is going to pull that off? Well, the premise of the show actually sounds kinda’ cool: it will tap into the basic idea of the ride and be about time travel. The description reads: “When a mission to avert an imminent global cataclysm goes awry, a small band of teenagers from Earth’s past and future must join forces to confront a threat as vast and mysterious as time itself.” That actually sounds kinda…fun? Inside Spaceship Earth Jason Fuchs (IT: Welcome to Derry) and Michael Waldron (Avengers: Doomsday, Loki) are writing the pilot, with Fuchs serving as showrunner. He’ll also produce via his FiveTen Productions, along with his wife, Alexandra Fuchs. The show’s other executive producers are Lee Toland Krieger (You, Riverdale), Adam Fishbach (Love, Victor), and Adam Fasullo (Waldron’s Anomaly Pictures partner). Sounds like a pretty solid lineup so far. Spaceship Earth Note that just because a pilot is ordered does not mean the show will go to series, but if it does, it will join Disney’s other live-action franchises based on rides, including Pirates of the Caribbean, Tomorrowland, Jungle Cruise, and Haunted Mansion. ©Disney Fuchs previously wrote a pilot for ABC in 2013 for a show based on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and that series never saw the light of day, but at the moment, he’s writing for some other big projects, including a live-action My Hero Academia for Netflix and the next Transformers movie at Paramount. 27. One of the most controversial topics of our time could revolve around the use of artificial intelligence, or AI. AI has been accused of illegally using copyrighted materials, and even Disney and Universal filed a suit against Midjourney, a generative AI tool, over copyright infringement. Mickey at Red Carpet Dreams in Hollywood Studios However, that hasn’t stopped Disney from using AI within its own business, and the company even doubled down on generative AI with a deal with OpenAI that would have allowed its tool, Sora, to generate short Disney-focused content. Although that deal fell apart when OpenAI shuttered Sora, Disney has not given up on AI and has committed to using it for other parts of its business, explaining that it’s nothing more than the company embracing emerging tech. Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro recently held the company’s Q3 2026 earnings call, and one of the topics that came up was the use of AI. D’Amaro explained that Disney was always embracing emerging tech and wants to use it to bring innovative tools to its storytellers. However, he stressed that Disney would always be artist-driven, and that AI was just a tool to help those artists work faster and smarter. However, the idea is to keep human creativity at the center of what the company does. Josh D’Amaro ©Disney Disney believes that AI can amplify what storytellers can do and help them “unleash creativity.” The company believes that human storytellers cannot be replaced. Disney now has a clarity of purpose on how to use the tools to make what they do even better. D’Amaro believes that the use of such technology goes all the way back to Walt Disney himself, who pushed the cutting edge of innovation. ©Disney So how does Disney plan to use AI in its day-to-day business? When it comes to making movies, AI can be leveraged across core technical processes to increase the ability to get terms to market, as well as get more movies in 3D and premium formats. AI can also bring visual effects to more shots where those effects might have been much more difficult to accomplish. ©Disney For Disney’s streaming platforms, AI is helping the company improve its personalization and recommendation engine, which can benefit the viewer if they’re looking for something to watch with their interests in mind. ©Disney Disney’s tech teams are also exploring generative AI-powered creatives in ad delivery. There has been some backlash against AI ads, so it will be interesting to see how Disney will circumvent that kind of reaction from fans. ©Disney Finally, Disney wants to improve experiences booking Disney trips, Disney cruises, and other Disney vacations.
