I’ve been working at the Disney Food Blog for five years now, and while you may think that it’s all DOLE Whips and sunshine, it’s not as easy as you might think. Really, I’m a hero. I’ve also been going to Disney World for over 30 years. Somewhere between my 400th Casey’s corn dog nugget and my third existential crisis in a quick-service line, I developed opinions. Strong ones. The kind that get you uninvited from group chats. Turkey legs are controversial Now, I know what you’re thinking: “Who asked?” Nobody. But you’re here, I’m here, and the comments section is right there waiting for your most unhinged replies. Go ahead and tell me I’m wrong. I’ll wait. (I won’t; I’ll be eating something better.) So grab a snack — not a sad heat-lamp one. We have standards. Let’s get into it. Some of my Disney food hot takes might not be that controversial, but Disney fans tend to be very… passionate about their opinions, so I’m fully preparing for some hate in the comments. Either way, we would love to hear your Disney World food hot takes in the comments, so hit us with your best! But first, let’s focus on me, okay? Summer House Cookies Are Better Than Gideon’s I said what I said, and I won’t apologize for it. HOWEVER, I feel it’s important you know that I don’t love a ton of toppings or fillings in my cookies. In fact, I prefer the cookie part of a chocolate chip cookie over the actual chocolate chips (my father-in-law makes chocolate chip-less cookies for me, and I love him for it!). So, I am definitely not the target audience for Gideon’s cookies in the first place. Summer House cookies, on the other hand, are utter perfection. Banana Box Pie Cookie at Gideon’s Bakehouse They have the perfect balance of toppings to cookie — so you can taste the actual cookie — and in my opinion, they have better flavor options overall. The Thai Banana cookie is a personal favorite of mine, along with their snickerdoodle. Oh, and did I mention that you won’t have to wait in an hour-long line to get Summer House cookies? It’s kind of still a hidden secret, so you’ll rarely find yourself waiting in a long line to get these delicious treats. And, if there is a line, it moves pretty quickly, so you’re never too far from your cookies. Chocolate Chip Rice Krispy cookie from Summer House Overall, though, the team here at DFB (including AJ) LOVES Gideon’s, and while there’s a reason the shop is so popular, it’s just not one that appeals to me. Joffrey’s Is Better Than Starbucks When it comes to coffee at Disney World, your options are Joffrey’s and Starbucks. Based on the lines alone, it would appear that most people are staunchly Team Starbucks — but I am not most people. I’ve had Starbucks plenty of times, and I get why people like it, but I’ve always found their coffee to be bitter and burnt. To me, Joffrey’s is the opposite. Give me that Shakin’ Jamaican cold brew all day, baby! Joffrey’s Shakin’ Jamaican Cold Brew Now, it’s entirely possible that my opinion may be biased because Joffrey’s originated in Tampa, and I’m a Tampa Bay native, but if I’m needing a pick-me-up in the parks, I will be hitting up Joffrey’s 100% of the time. It’s also entirely possible that this opinion is based on the fact that the lines at Starbucks can get insanely long at Disney World, while most Joffrey’s lines are more modest. Actually, wait, maybe I just don’t like lines… Turkey Legs Aren’t THAT Bad Listen, I get it. There’s something barbaric about gnawing on a giant turkey leg as you’re walking around a theme park. The smokiness and saltiness are extremely unappealing to people, but as we have already established — I am not most people. Are there better snacks at Disney World? Sure. Does eating a turkey leg in public unleash some sort of primal being in all of us? Most definitely. But sometimes, you just need protein, and a turkey leg is almost entirely that. Turkey Leg Of course, turkey legs aren’t exclusive to Disney World, and you can find them at other theme parks, Renaissance fairs, sporting events, etc., but I think they get a bad rap at Disney World especially. There’s a reason that they’re still selling them after all these years, and it’s certainly not because people aren’t buying them, you know? Turkey leg I know, I know, you probably don’t agree with my Disney food hot takes, but you know what? That’s okay. Don’t yuck my yum, and I won’t yuck yours. Unless you’re wrong, in which case I will debate you. In the meantime, make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for even more Disney snack updates and beyond. Halloween just wrapped up, which means two things: cooler weather and holiday celebrations! And boy, do we see it all around the parks! People are breaking out those sweatshirts! We’re at Disney World EVERY DAY trying food, finding new merchandise, keeping you up to date on all of the changes, and more, and while we’re here, we keep our eyes peeled for the latest things guests are doing. That includes what they wear, what they buy, and what they eat, and today, we’re sharing everything we’ve seen over the past week. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. What People Are Wearing The temperature in Orlando is starting to drop as the winter months come upon us, which is why we’ve been seeing a lot more guests wearing sweatshirts, and there are quite a few popular options. Take A Look At This Classic Zip-Up Hoodie! WDW Zip Hoodie One we see all the time is the Walt Disney World Zip Hoodie! This sweatshirt features a puff-ink “D” on the front chest, with “Walt Disney World” in puff-ink lettering in the park’s classic font across the sleeves and back. You can find a variety of colors across the property, including black, blue, green, cream, and more! view ON THE DISNEY STORE This Collection Is EXTREMELY Popular ©Disney This Girls Crew Disney Icons Collection is so popular that it sells out in an instant when it’s in stock! In this collection, there is a necklace, bracelet, and ring. While you may find these pieces in stores at Disney World, you can grab the ring online now! This ring is plated with 18k gold and features the four icons of the Orlando parks: Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom, Spaceship Earth in EPCOT, Tower of Terror in Hollywood Studios, and the Tree of Life in Animal Kingdom. view ON the disney store We’ve Seen This Next Collection A Lot Around The Parks ©Disney For people who are more into a pullover-style sweatshirt, this Women’s Walt Disney World Pullover Sweatshirt is a popular option. Like the zip-up, this sweatshirt comes in multiple colors. The front of the sweatshirt features appliqué lettering of the Walt Disney World logo in its classic font. It has dropped shoulders, raised seams, and side vents. “Authentic Original Est. 1971” and the Cinderella Castle are screen-printed below the logo. view ON the disney store What People Are Buying Christmas is under two months away, which means people are getting into the holiday spirit and buying holiday merchandise! Here is a look at a couple of things we’re seeing FLY off the shelves at the parks! These Plaid Ears Are A Must Plaid Christmas Ears The Minnie Mouse Plaid Ear Headband is THE go-to Christmas ears this season. This classic Minnie Mouse design features a red velvet bow accented with sparkling Mickey icon studs. These ears have a non-slip velour interior, so you don’t have to worry about them falling off your head while you wear them. view ON the disney store The Other Style Is Popular, Too! Christmas Minnie Ears Or you can grab the Minnie Mouse Fair Isle Holiday Ear Headband! This Minnie Mouse design features a red bow with green stripes. The ears are patterned with Fantasyland Castles, snowflakes, presents, holly, and Mickey Mouse icons. On the sides, you’ll find a green and red pattern for a final festive touch. view ON the disney store Don’t Forget About The Loungefly! ©Disney Of course, the Loungefly bags are going to be popular, too! This Santa Mickey Mouse Loungefly Crossbody Set is everyone’s favorite bag this holiday season. The zip bag is made with simulated leather and features a Santa Mickey appliqué against a festive scene of Christmas trees, gifts, and snowflakes complete with fluffy trim. It comes with a detachable red and white striped shoulder strap, which can be adjusted however you’d like it. And it comes with a Mickey icon coin purse, inspired by the popular red and white peppermint swirl candy. view ON the disney store What People Are Eating It’s officially November, which means we’re in the last month of this year’s EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival. Because it’s coming to an end soon, we’ve seen people constantly hitting up those food booths in hopes of trying everything before it’s gone! Every time we go to EPCOT lately, it seems like the festival booth lines are so much longer than anything else. The Wedge Crowds Also in EPCOT is the Canada Popcorn Cart, which serves the beloved Maple Popcorn. We’ve noticed this line is a lot longer than usual lately, but it’s for good reason — that popcorn is DELICIOUS! This cart is open from 11 AM to park close. MAPLE POPCORN! Finally, we’ve noticed a lot more people BRINGING their own lunch to the parks. This could be due to the recent price increases that hit property-wide. It definitely seems like we’re seeing more families bring bagged lunches and coolers than there used to be. If you do want to bring your own food to the parks, there are a couple of things to remember: You cannot bring loose ice; glass containers and jars are prohibited, and you cannot bring a cooler larger than 24″ long x 15″ wide x 18″ high into the parks. One thing we love about visiting EPCOT is that we can visit each pavilion and it’s like stepping into that country’s culture, food, and shopping. Perhaps one of our favorite pavilions is the France Pavilion because we get access to all those delicious French pastries, crepes, wine, and more. France Pavilion The France Pavilion is also home to Impressions de France, an 18-minute widescreen film that showcases France’s beauty, charm, and joie de vivre. However, if you want to watch this film in 2027, you’ll have fewer chances to do so. Currently, the theater that houses Impressions de France also houses the Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along, with the day split between the two shows. Impressions de France plays from 9 AM to 9:30 AM and from 7 AM to 8:45 PM. However, as of January 2027, Impressions de France is dropping its evening hours and will only be playing in the mornings from 9 AM to 9:30 AM. That means you’ll have a very limited window if you want to catch the movie. Theater seats Meanwhile, the Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along will have the same hours as it has currently: from 10 AM to 6:30 PM. So you’ll still have most of the day to catch that show. Beauty and the Beast theater entrance Now, Disney World’s hours only go as far out as January 12th, 2027, so this could be a temporary change and the evening hours for Impressions de France could return. However, Disney has not made any indication of what it has planned for the show. Impressions de France takes you on a virtual journey through the country, from Cheverny Forest to the palace of Versailles to Normandy, and Cannes, all to a musical soundtrack by French composers. France Pavilion Meanwhile, you can still spend time in France riding Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, grabbing a baguette at Les Halles, ordering a crepe at La Crêperie de Paris, enjoying a boozy ice cream martini at L’Artisan des Glaces, shopping for authentic French souvenirs, and more. Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure rider entrance We’ll keep an eye out for more changes in Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB for more. You GUYS, last night was Disney Night on Dancing With the Stars and I basically spent two hours with my jaw on the FLOOR. ©Disney Our team has been particularly obsessed with Dancing With the Stars this season as we’ve had a workwide bracket challenge organized by yours truly. I’ve personally been a fan of the show for years (I first watched as a teen way back in the age of Zendaya on the show — it would be my literal dream to see her husband Tom Holland do it now), but last night was my fave theme night each season, where they roll out the over-the-top costumes and set designs to celebrate something we here at DFB absolutely love…Disney! And I personally have a lot of thoughts about how the night shook out. First of all, it’s important to note that this year’s theme was a dedication specifically to Disney on Broadway. Now, from the perspective of a fan, I was a little disappointed that a handful of the songs were not associated with Disney on Broadway shows — for example, Tangled and Peter Pan (which did have a Broadway show but it’s not associated with Disney or the song they performed). In addition, there were several songs performed that have been showcased multiple times on Disney night. It would’ve been nice to get some more representation from popular Disney on Broadway shows or from underrated Disney movie songs. But I suppose that there are some tunes that just choreograph better than others! ©Disney With that said, I’ve compiled my personal ranking of the dances of the night, starting with my lowest-ranked and ending with my best. Keep in mind that I’m not a professional dancer and I don’t have ballroom/latin experience. This is just speaking from the mind of a Dancing With the Stars fanatic and Disney Adult who had an absolute blast watching from the comfort of her couch. 11. “You Can Fly! You Can Fly! You Can Fly!” by Maura & Mark Unfortunately, someone has to be at the bottom of the list, and for me last night, that was Maura and Mark. She started out the season with some seriously shocking dance showings, topping the leaderboard for a while, but now she’s dropping down toward the bottom. As I mentioned above, this wasn’t a song from a Broadway show, but it was a more unique pick, so I appreciate that aspect. Also, the moment in the cage at the beginning of the dance made me chuckle. ©Disney But dance-wise, this fell a little flat. Jive is a very athletic and high-energy dance, so it was an…interesting choice to do it on a week when she didn’t have as much chance to build the stamina for it, since they only had six days between shows and were trying to do a team dance as well. She struggled a bit to place her legs with the landings throughout the dance, and it gave it a bit of a disjointed feel at times. If you’ve been paying attention to dance styles throughout the season, Mark has mostly been sticking to dances that keep Maura “in hold” and they were even attached for a decent portion of this dance. (Yes, the pros DO have say in what dance style they perform — this has been confirmed in interviews and TikToks multiple times this season.) I look forward to seeing her dance more on her own in the coming weeks. 10. “Satisfied” by Julia & Ezra Next up, we’ve got Julia and Ezra. The end of the night saw Julia going home in a somewhat-shocking elimination, considering she was topping the charts with social media growth and YouTube views for her dances. I loved that they went the full-on Broadway route with this song, and it was a tune that hadn’t been used on the show before. ©Disney The blend of Paso Doble and Revolutionary-era costumes and choreography was a lot of fun, but this dance lacked some of the attack I usually expect from Paso Doble. Her facial expressions and acting were on-point, but her feet didn’t quite stick into the ground with the power they needed. I’m sad to see her go, but I’m glad she got to do her nostalgic dances in the past few weeks first! 9. “Zoo” by Team Slaytopia I had this dance ranked a little higher and ended up moving it around after I rewatched it. The first of the two team dances, “Zoo” from Zootopia 2 was admittedly a more disappointing song choice, considering High School Musical has so many fans and so much nostalgia. When I watched this dance at first, I really enjoyed it, but seeing it again AFTER seeing its competitor made me realize just how big of a difference there was between the two performances. ©Disney The stars overall didn’t seem to be having as much fun in this dance, and while the individual sections were well-performed and entertaining, the group dancing didn’t feel like, well…a group. When they were all dancing at the same time, it just felt like there were four couples out there doing the same moves instead of a team working together to put on a show. Everyone shone nicely with their own partners, but I think they could’ve played a bit more fun and quirky with the group choreography instead of sticking to so much traditional ballroom. The group dances are a time to be creative! 8. “I See the Light” by Connor & Rylee It pains me to put Connor lower on this list after his spectacular performance on Horror Movie Night, but there were just some truly standout dances that ranked above him this week. The costumes and set for this dance were stunning, and the choreography that Rylee did was beautiful and elegant. Derek Hough compared it to a first dance at a wedding, and I have to agree. ©Disney But, as the judges said, Connor’s frame needs a bit of work to make it perfect. I’ve seen quite a bit of improvement in him since his earlier dances in frame, and that’s good news going forward. The unfortunate thing here is that after such a knock-it-out-of-the-park performance last week, I worry that going back into frame might’ve killed his momentum a bit (since he has struggled with his frame from the beginning). However, he was incredibly graceful and he’s really starting to look like a true dancer. I can visibly see how he’s getting more comfortable on the dance floor each week! Most improved across the season, indeed. 7. “A Star Is Born” by Amber & Pasha The next three dances were really hard for me to rank because they were all absolutely incredible and challenging choreography-wise. I landed with Amber and Pasha’s Quickstep to “A Star Is Born” from Hercules in the number seven spot because I found it to be just slightly less memorable than some others. Now, it’s important to note that Quickstep is often touted as the most difficult of the five traditional ballroom dance styles, and like the Jive, it’s a very athletic dance. ©Disney One thing I can truly appreciate about Pasha’s choreography is that he will give you traditional elements every time, and his dances will be a true showcase of what that style is meant to be. There were a lot of steps and it was fast-paced, really demonstrating just how much stamina and precision Amber has. Plus, her leading him for part of the dance? Impressive! She rocked that. My main docking points were that there was a LOT of flexing…a lot. It felt like they flexed their biceps five or six times. And also, this song has been used a handful of times on the show already. Seems like a strange choice to keep getting used when it’s not a super popular tune (I can forgive those that are uber popular for being reused over and over). 6. “Easy as Life” by Tatyana & Jan Like I said, this was a hard choice, but Tatyana and Jan landed in my number six ranking! They danced to “Easy as Life” from the Broadway show Aida and I was DELIGHTED by that choice. For Disney on Broadway Night, it was a great pull and brought some recognition to an underrated show. Plus, the dance was stunning, beautiful, moving…you NAME it. ©Disney Her lines were flawless and her body control was spectacular throughout the tricks. Every move was smooth and precise while also being graceful and lovely. They told a story through dance, and I could feel the raw emotion throughout the performance. They played the parts so well! My one wish is that they’d used a bit more of the floor. Sure, last week Connor and Rylee didn’t use much of the floor in their Contemporary, but because they were using a couch as a prop, it gave them a reason to dance in one spot. When the whole floor is open, it’s a bit more obvious. 5. “Under the Sea” by Ezra & Daniella The dance that came out on top from that middle cluster was Ezra and Daniella’s Samba to “Under the Sea” from The Little Mermaid. Like Quickstep is often considered the most difficult ballroom style, Samba is usually considered one of the most difficult Latin dance styles (along with Rumba) because of all the technicality and the difficult hip movements and “bounce” that you need throughout the dance. Ezra managed to nail SO many of the technical elements of this dance. ©Disney The samba rolls with the challenge of their height difference and his prosthetic were particularly extraordinary, and that series of turns near the end were SO fast and had my jaw dropping wide open. I really love the way that Daniella incorporates his prosthetic into her choreography and showcases things he can do that other people can’t. This boy is definitely making it to the finals, you guys. 4. “Be Our Guest” by Jenna & Val Now we make it into the two top individual dances of the night, and I went back and forth on which I would rank higher. Jenna Dewan and Val performed a Quickstep to “Be Our Guest” from Beauty and the Beast, and it was a spectacle! They brought out the full set and the stunning costumes for this one, but they didn’t stray from incredible technique and challenging choreography. ©Disney Her leg and foot work is so phenomenal and if they were in another circumstance, it would be impossible to tell which of them was the pro and which was the celebrity. That split jump?! Are you KIDDING ME?! This was so deserving of a perfect score, and I didn’t even want to blink while watching it. My only docked point is that it seemed like the opening before dancing was just a smidge too long. 3. “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” by Harry & Jenna And the star whose dance tops my list? Harry Shum Jr. with his Jazz to the iconic song from Mary Poppins with partner Jenna. WOW. Talk about looking like a pro and channeling the spirit of van Dyke! That could’ve been a real Broadway performance, and he just danced his heart out. ©Disney Jazz is often criticized for being one of the “easier” styles to perform and Jenna did not make this easy for Harry. She gave some truly difficult dance moves and made it a high-energy number that he executed flawlessly. It was very athletic, from the knee turns to the toe touch that felt like he touched the sky. And can we talk about Jenna’s jump off the stage into the arms of the troupe? I gasped. I would watch this dance over and over again. 2. The Opening Number You may be wondering…what ranks higher than Harry? Well, I wasn’t planning to include the non-competitive dances in this ranking but I simply couldn’t resist talking about the show-stopping opening number they did last night! It had songs from Beauty and the Beast, Newsies, The Greatest Showman, and The Lion King with some memorable vocal performances. I love when Dancing With the Stars does big opening numbers, and this one will be one of my favorite for a while. It’s just so fun to see the pros show us exactly why they’re PROS. 1. “We’re All in This Together” by Team Wildcats But far and away the top dance of the night, not for its technical prowess or its ballroom content, but for its pure joy, is Team Wildcats’ performance of “We’re All in This Together” from High School Musical. From the moment I saw which stars and pros were on this team, I knew the dance would be amazing, but I couldn’t have anticipated how fun it would be to watch. You could really tell how much they enjoyed being a team! ©Disney The individual sections were really great, considering you had some of the season’s strongest dancers showing off their talents, but the group dancing is what really made this so much better than the other team dance to me. The stars still rocked it without their pros by their side, and they actually looked like they were having a great time. There was energy and excitement and it felt electric. I’m predicting now that this is going to be the most-watched dance on YouTube this week! ©Disney So there you have it, all the dances from Disney Night ranked! The Muppets are getting into the holiday spirit, and you know what that means — it’s time for us to do the same! What The Muppets say, goes, in our opinion. ©Disney We got word a few weeks ago that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets will be getting a holiday overlay this year, and now, we’ve got even better news. The PhotoPass photos we get from the ride are some of our favorites with all the different designs, and now there are NEW holiday designs to enjoy during the season! Disney has just released three new PhotoPass shots you can get for riding Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets! From November 4th through January 6th, you’ll get all three of the following festive photos when you ride. The first features your photos inside a Christmas tree, surrounded by colorful lights, ornaments that are Muppet-themed, with a colorful candy cane-like striped border around your photo. ©Disney The second is a horizontal photo, putting your photo to the left of the ride’s logo, with a graphic of The Electric Mayhem in red and green line art. At the bottom, you’ll see “G-Force Records Presents The Electric Mayhem One Night To Rock The Halls.” Then, underneath your photo, you’ll see an ornament and the year 2026 (that will likely change to 2027 if you ride in January). ©Disney Finally, the third photo has your picture against a red background, complete with “Merry Mayhem.” Underneath your photo, you’ll see Animal in a Santa hat on one side of the G-Force Records logo, with Kermit in a Santa hat on the other. ©Disney You will need to have PhotoPass for the day to download these photos, but you’ll be able to see them in your My Disney Experience app whether you have PhotoPass or not (though there will be a watermark over them if you don’t) — that way, even if you don’t necessarily want to keep them or save them, you can still check them out quickly! If you’re looking forward to the holiday overlay as much as we are, it’ll be taking place on the same dates that these new ride photos are available: November 4th, 2026 through January 6th, 2027. It’s officially called Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets: Obligatory Holiday Overlay, and we know that festival music will be playing throughout the courtyard. In the pre-show room, Dr. Teeth, Animal, Floyd, Janice, Zoot, and Lips are deep in rehearsals for their holiday spectacular, where a few familiar Muppets friends will stop by the studio to offer a helping hand (or try to). ©Disney On the actual ride, you’ll get to hear one of four songs, though Disney has only listed three at this time. We know for a fact we’ll get to hear: Holiday Road – The Electric Mayhem ft. Kermit the Frog and Fozzie Bear Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) – The Electric Mayhem ft. Jennifer Hudson Silver Bells – The Electric Mayhem ft. Cyndi Lauper Haven’t gotten to see what the Muppets overlay looks like on this ride yet? Check out our video below! I’ve eaten my way around Walt Disney World, stayed at numerous Disney resorts, and know the parks like the back of my hand, but this year I finally did something I’d been dreaming of: I ran my very first runDisney race! Expo Day! Here’s the thing: I wasn’t a runner until pretty recently. But I figured if I was going to run a race, it might as well be at Disney World! So I signed up for the 5K during the Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend, and let me tell you, it was everything I hoped for (and a few things I didn’t see coming). I went in thinking the running would be the hard part. Spoiler alert: it wasn’t even close. Here’s everything I learned on my first runDisney race weekend, including the one thing I really wish someone had warned me about. The Hardest Part: The Expo Merch Virtual Queue Here it is, the thing nobody warned me about. The virtual queue for official runDisney merchandise at the race expo is no joke! The virtual queue opens at 7 AM and 1 PM, and if you have your heart set on specific merch, you need to be ready to join right at 7 AM on the first day. A lot of the merchandise, especially the 5K items, sold out within hours of the expo opening. runDisney EXPO I wasn’t as ready as I should have been, and I didn’t get in until the 1 PM window. By then, most of the 5K merchandise was already gone. I had my heart set on a 5K tank or shirt to remember my first race by, and missing out on that stung more than any mile did. I did snag the general Wine & Dine race Christmas ornament, so I didn’t leave empty-handed, and it’ll be a sweet reminder every holiday season. My advice: Treat the expo merch queue like a boarding group drop. Set an alarm, have the app open and ready, and tap that button the second it opens at 7 AM. Wide World of Sports The 5K Was Basically Three Different Races This was new for this year. runDisney added more participants to the 5K, so while there were corrals A through G, they didn’t all run at once. Corrals A–C ran first in back-to-back waves, then the course was swept. Corrals D and E went next in waves, followed by another sweep. Corrals F and G ran last, again in waves. So depending on your corral, your start time (and your race experience) could look pretty different from someone else’s. Keep that in mind when you’re planning your morning and comparing notes with friends running the same race. 2026 Wine & Dine 5K You Walk a LOT Before the Race Even Starts I knew I’d be covering 3.1 miles on race morning. What I didn’t factor in was all the walking that happens before the starting line. Expo day alone had me on my feet for hours, between getting my bib, browsing vendors, and wandering around. Then on race morning, there’s the walk from where you arrive at EPCOT to the starting area. It adds up fast! If you’re doing a runDisney race, wear comfortable shoes on expo day (not your race shoes!) and plan some time to rest your feet before the big morning. Most Magical Place to Race! It’s a Lot of Standing Around… Until Suddenly It Isn’t Race morning started EARLY. My alarm went off at 4:30 AM, and I was heading to the bus by 5 AM. Coworkers who had run before told me to get to EPCOT before my corral opened, so I did. My corral opened at 6 AM, and I was in the area ready to head in by 5:45 AM. I was in the first wave of my corral, and I didn’t actually start running until 7:30 AM. That’s almost two hours of waiting! I expected some downtime. Honestly, I pictured myself sitting on the ground, stretching, and relaxing. Nope! We stood the entire time. Then, after all that waiting, it was suddenly go time. Lots of standing around! My advice: Still arrive early (you don’t want to stress about missing your corral), but mentally prepare to be on your feet for a while. And bring a throwaway layer! It was chilly that morning, but I skipped a jacket because I didn’t want to deal with gear check. Standing still for two hours in the cold, I definitely wished I had an old sweatshirt I could ditch at the start. Wine & Dine Security Check Character Stops Were Quick (For Me!) One of the best parts of a runDisney race is the character stops along the course, and I was NOT going to skip them. I stopped for four: Chip ‘n’ Dale, Remy, Daisy Duck, and Clarabelle Cow. Every single one was a surprise, which made spotting them along the course even more fun. Best of all, each photo took less than 30 seconds of waiting. That said, this wasn’t everyone’s experience. Runners in corrals A–C reported much longer waits for characters. If character photos are a priority for you, your corral (and wave) could make a big difference. Daisy on the course! The Race Flew By After all that waiting, the race itself felt like it was over in a blink. I didn’t look at my pace once, but I ran the entire time, and I’m really proud of that! My one regret? I wish I had looked around more. Running through World Showcase as the sun came up is something most guests never get to see, and I was so focused on running that I didn’t fully soak it in. If you’re doing your first runDisney race, take a second to look up and enjoy where you are. You’ll want that memory. It was gorgeous views! The Cast Members Made the Day This shouldn’t surprise anyone. We all know Cast Members are the real magic at Disney World. But truly, every single Cast Member I encountered before, during, and after the race was excited, encouraging, and kind. From the corrals to the course to the finish line, their energy made the whole morning feel like a celebration. If you run, thank them. They’re up even earlier than we are! Wine & Dine 5K I Got Way More Emotional Than I Expected I knew finishing would feel good. I didn’t know it would hit me the way it did. Running a runDisney race had been a dream of mine for a long time. Crossing that finish line meant so much more than I expected, and I found myself fighting back tears. It’s hard to describe, but if you’ve ever wanted to do one of these races, I hope you get to feel that moment too. Finishing! Would I do a runDisney race again? Absolutely! I am running the Disney World half marathon in January, and I’ve learned a lot to take with me! For more Disney news, be sure to follow us at DFB! We’ve got an update on something that could be coming to Magic Kingdom‘s new Villains Land, though it may not be the update you were expecting! Regardless, we grab at any tidbit of news like it’s the last homemade cupcake at a birthday party. ©Disney We know a little bit about the two rides planned for this area — one is a Maleficent-themed coaster, while the other is a dark ride that heavily involves the Magic Mirror and numerous Disney villains. Disney just filed a new patent for technology that would make PERFECT sense to work inside this new ride, considering it’s, quite literally, for a magic mirror! This new patent is US-12784619-B1, and it was filed by Disney Enterprises and is for a fan effect system. In specific, the use of a fan system and a fabric material to achieve dynamic movement of the fabric. Basically, a cooler version of putting a blanket over a fan and watching it whip around. The artwork shown on the patent clearly shows what looks like it could easily be a Magic Mirror, so unless Disney is currently planning on putting a similar mirror elsewhere, we’re thinking this is for Villains Land. US Patent 12784619-B1 The background of the patent details that oftentimes, smoke and fire effects are needed in rides, but the actual use of those can be dangerous for guests and Cast Members, and real fire is hard to control. Conventional fan effect systems are used to simulate the idea of fire with silk and LED effects, though they can create an unrealistic-looking effect. US Patent 12784619-B1 The patent goes on to describe the various pieces of this fan system, going into great detail about each and every piece, how it breaks down, its function, and more — that’s what a patent is! It’s basically detailing how the technology works, so that way, if approved, the inventors will get credit for their technology. It’s almost like Intellectual Property (IP) rights for creative endeavors, but for inventions. US Patent 12784619-B1 Some patents are filed by companies, and we don’t see them used in the theme parks, or it’s years before we see technology similar to what was discussed. However, with this one, if it’s approved, we’ll be SHOCKED if we don’t see it somewhere in Villains Land, even if it’s not inside the ride itself. It could also be a queue element to keep people entertained in line — we’ll just have to wait and see. US Patent 12784619-B1 Disney has said that this Magic Mirror attraction will be a dark ride featuring a cavalcade of Disney Villains in which the Magic Mirror will “magically transport (guests) into his mystical Mirror Realm to see things on the other side of the mirror. There, in his ethereal realm, (guests) will be transfixed by countless Disney Villains conjured in ways only the Magic Mirror can do. A combination of special effects and physical set pieces will bring his Mirror Realm.” Considering the ride is so heavily about the Magic Mirror, we’ve got a feeling we’ll see the technology in this new patent inside this attraction. US Patent 12784619-B1 Want to see what it’s like to be on a Disney Cruise with a heavy emphasis on Disney Villains? Check out our video from the Disney Destiny below! The holiday season in Disney World means there’s a LOT going on at one time. Yes, even more so than usual, and that means one day in the parks could look completely different from what it did just 24 hours prior. Holiday decorations in Magic Kingdom This is especially true when there are TV specials that film in Magic Kingdom during the season, and one of those is coming up fast! While the special itself won’t air until closer to Christmas, the ABC Holiday Parade taping of Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade will take place on November 10th and 11th this year. Yes, that means you could get a chance to see this beloved parade weeks early, or without a Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party ticket, but it also means other entertainment around the park has been adjusted! Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade will happen at 2 PM on both November 10th and 11th this year for the taping, which means that the Festival of Fantasy Parade won’t be happening either of those days. Now, Disney Starlight will be taking place twice each day, once at 6:45 PM and the other at 9 PM, so you will still have a chance to catch two parades in one day. Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade That’s far from the only entertainment that will be affected, though. Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire will be switching times as well. On November 10th, the show will take place at 9:15 AM and 12 PM… Times on November 10th …and on November 11th, the show will take place at 10:10 AM, 11:35 AM, 12:45 PM, and 4 PM. Times on November 11th The Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade will also see a change, but only on November 10th. The cavalcade usually begins at 11:05 AM, but there are currently no showtimes listed for November 10th. However, the cavalcade will be happening at 11:05 AM as usual on November 11th. Adventure Friends Cavalcade Our beloved Dapper Dans will also see a shift! There won’t be any showtimes for them on November 10th, and they’ll have one less showing on November 11th, appearing at 9 AM, 9:50 AM, 10:40 AM, 12:05 PM, 1:10 PM, and 3:55 PM. Dapper Dans! Finally, the Casey’s Corner Pianist will also be playing fewer times throughout both days. November 10th, you can see them at 11:40 AM, 12:25 PM, and 5:30 PM. On November 11th, you can watch them play at 10:50 AM, 12 PM, 1:15 PM, 3:40 PM, 4:35 PM, and 5:30 PM. Casey’s Corner Pianist Want to see what the holidays look like inside the parks? Check out our video below! Don’t forget that things change on the daily in Disney World, especially when it’s the holiday season. For years now, December has been one of Disney World’s busiest months thanks to the massive influx of guests flooding the resort for the holiday season, and this year, guests vacationing here need to prepare for some major changes at the Magic Kingdom! Holiday decor From the end of a major annual ticketed event and seasonal offerings available to all guests to a ride reopening from refurbishment, Disney World’s first park has a lot to offer in December. Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party The 2026 edition of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party will go on through December before culminating at the end of the month. As always, the event will offer special presentations including Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration, Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade, Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks, Club Tinsel, and Disney Junior Jingle Jam, access to Magic Kingdom attractions, photo opportunities with characters, exclusive treats, and tasty cookie and cocoa spots offering complimentary snacks and drinks to enjoy throughout the party! Snack time Plus, several Magic Kingdom attractions will offer special holiday overlays: Space Mountain will feature “high-energy holiday tunes and festive interior lighting.” The Tomorrowland Speedway transforms into Tomorrowland Speedway Race, which is “filled with thousands of lights, stylized décor and a fun, futuristic holiday soundtrack.” The Mad Tea Party becomes a “wild and wacky Christmas party––where you can spin your teacup to one of 4 holiday combos of lights and music.” Jungle Cruise transforms into the Jingle Cruise, a version of the classic “packed with holiday-themed puns.” Of note, the Jingle Cruise can be enjoyed during the party or all day long at the Magic Kingdom. Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor puts “some ‘ha ha ha’ in their ‘ho ho ho’ with a seasonal show.” Mad Tea Party Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party’s December dates are as follows: 1st, 3rd, 4th, 6th, 8th, 10th, 11th, 13th, 15th, 17th, 18th, 20th, and finally, the 22nd. Mickey and Minnie in Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration Tiana’s Bayou Adventure The popular Magic Kingdom attraction closed for a brief refurbishment on November 2nd. The ride is currently scheduled to reopen on December 18th, just before the fullest extent of the Christmas rush. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Party Exclusives Open to Everyone After the aforementioned final date of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, history indicates that two of the party’s exclusive offerings will be joining the Magic Kingdom’s daily offerings for the rest of the year: Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade, known for dancing gingerbread men, marching toy soldiers, Disney Characters in their holiday best, and even a special appearance by Santa Claus at the end Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks, a dazzling seasonal extravaganza which features “festive colors to the tune of some of your favorite carols like ‘Deck the Halls’ and ‘We Wish You a Merry Christmas'” along with holiday projections! Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks New Year’s Eve! The Magic Kingdom, like the rest of Disney World’s theme parks, goes all out for New Year’s Eve. This year, the park will be open until 12 AM. If history precedes itself, the night will be filled with two performances of Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade and Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away, as well as an extra explosive version of the Fantasy in the Sky at 6:30 PM and 11:50 PM. Plus, there were DJ booths, musical performances, and other surprises scattered throughout the park. The Tomorrowland party! In addition to New Year’s Eve, the Magic Kingdom also offers the New Year’s edition of Fantasy in the Sky twice on December 30th at 6:30 PM and 11:50 PM. HAPPY NEW YEAR! The one thing we LOVE about visiting Disney World is that once you’re on property, you have a multitude of transportation options to get you all over the resort, to and from the parks, to and from the hotels, and to and from Disney Springs. It’s so nice not to have to drive anywhere, thanks to Disney buses, the Skyliner, the Monorail, and boats. Sassagoula Steamboat Co. However, sometimes a transportation option gets closed for whatever reason, and that can kinda put a wrench in your plans, although Disney always offers an alternative mode of transportation. Well, one transportation option, the boat that travels between Disney Springs and Disney’s Old Key West Resort, recently closed for refurbishment, but we’re happy to report that the boat is now available again and open for service. The Sassagoula River Cruise closed on October 12th and was unavailable during that time. While it was closed, guests who needed to travel between Old Key West and Disney Springs were given alternate transportation via Disney buses. Well, the most scenic way to travel between the two locations is BACK, and honestly, this is the BEST way to get between the two destinations. It’s open! Disney boats are iconic in that they’re often faster than buses because they travel down the waterways to get from point A to B and don’t have to worry about traffic. But they’re also a great way to enjoy a much more chill way of traveling while enjoying scenery along those waterways, which is always really nice. So now, that option is available for Old Key West guests again. Old Key West Resort Note that there is still some construction happening at Old Key West, though. The hotel is undergoing some exterior refurbishment, so you’re likely to see and hear construction if you’re staying there (or just visiting). However, you shouldn’t hear noise at night. However, you might have to take alternate walkways around the resort, depending on where construction walls are. Old Key West Resort We also have to note the newish rule about traveling between Disney Springs and Disney World hotels via Disney transportation. Only those staying at Old Key West or those with reservations up for one of its restaurants are allowed to get on the boat to go to the hotel. Here’s the rule in writing from Disney World’s website: ©Disney We’ll keep an eye out for other changes in Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB for more. 8 Weeks When Disney World Hotels Will Be CROWDED in 2027 Are you considering a stay at Disney’s Old Key West Resort? Although you can find some really good food in Disney World’s theme parks, some of the BEST food at the resort is hiding at the hotels, and that’s where you’ll find many of our faves. Now, one restaurant we often return to is Grand Floridian Cafe at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, but it’s been closed since July. That burger, though Well, we’ve got some good news. The Grand Floridian Cafe has finally reopened, and we’re checking it out, including new food and beverages! So let’s start by taking a peek inside to see what’s changed. The restaurant has been refreshed with a fresh coat of paint here and there and some new details, and it’s starting to reflect part of that new look we recently saw when the hotel’s lobby was refurbished. Grand Floridian Cafe has reopened! When we walked up, we saw the menu posted outside the restaurant, but you can also find it on the My Disney Experience app. Menu Everything is looking bright, shiny, and almost like new inside. The dining room features some new green accents, updated carpet, new booth colors, and updated lighting sconces. What it looks like now You’ll also see fresh flowers. Fresh flowers The tables and chairs have also been refreshed. Tables and chairs We went for lunch, but we want to note that the restaurant used to have a daily brunch, but now the menu is split between breakfast and lunch. The lunch menu has also changed and features returning items, but also some new items. For example, you can still get the Caramelized Onion Soup Gratin for an appetizer. The entrees part of the menu has been pared down a bit, but the good news is the Buttermilk-fried Chicken and Waffle, a previous brunch item, is available for lunch. The menu Disney also announced a new Apple Butter Cinnamon Roll, but that menu item is ONLY available at breakfast. But that sounds DELICIOUS, and we may have to come back for breakfast for it (and we’ll let you know how it is). ©Disney which is why we had to order some things to try them out. We started with the Loaded Steak Fries with sour cream, bacon jam, and chives for $12. As far as steak fries go, these are PERFECT: crunchy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and well-seasoned. The bacon jam is sweet, salty, and smoky for a great flavor, while the sour cream with the chives adds a nice balance.b Loaded Steak Fries We also loved the size of this appetizer. It’s perfect for one person to make a meal out of it, but also shareable if you’re just having it as an appetizer. Yeah, we’re already wanting to eat more of these, y’all. All those flavors. YES. The Buttermilk-Fried Chicken & Waffle for $27 has a hand-breaded chicken breast on a waffle with hot honey. This dish is ICONIC and we’re so happy it’s still available although the restaurant no longer has a brunch. It’s chicken and waffles, and when done right…well, this right here is chicken and waffle DONE RIGHT. What makes it even better, though, is that it’s a Mickey waffle! We love all those little nooks and crannies in a Mickey waffle that just soak up that sweet syrup, and then we can dip it in the hot honey. It’s a wonderful bite, sweet and hot and beautiful. Buttermilk-Fried Chicken and Waffle The chicken is some of the best we’ve had on property. It’s crispy on the outside from the corn flakes that were used as its breading, but it’s also juicy on the inside. The flavors of the chicken, the waffle, and the hot honey come through with every bite. This is one waffle that doesn’t even need butter because it’s already got all the flavor it needs. The crispy and juicy chicken with the syrup and hot sauce! PERFECTION. Then we ordered the Applewood Bacon Burger with hand-cut maple-glazed bacon, pimento cheese, and house-seasoned steak fries for $25. So, we’re not the kind of people to just eat burgers in Disney World, but this one? Well, we’ll make an exception. First, the bun is buttery, and you get lots of pimento cheese (and you know how we feel about cheese). Applewood Bacon Burger The hamburger patty and bacon are also perfectly cooked, while the lettuce and tomato balance it all out. You also get those steak fries with it, and yep, we’re still crazy about them. We’re in burger heaven We ended our meal with a sweet treat, the Cookies & Cream Chocolate Layer Cake for $10. It has layers of chocolate cake, cookies and cream cheesecake (oh, yeah!), and chocolate ganache. You can get it à la mode for an extra $2. This feels like an adult take on a kids’ cookies and cream cake. The elements all come together, including the filling with the Oreos, the tart cream cheese, and the chocolatey devil’s food-style cake. And…that filling. Well, the inner child in us was happy, but the adult appreciated the chocolate ganache. Cookies and Cream Chocolate Layer Cake This might look small, but this is a VERY rich dessert, and we know chocolate lovers are going to practically inhale it when they order it, but please try to take time to savor it, if you can. We also loved the hidden Mickey done on the plate with the filling. AND it gave us more of that delicious filling to eat. Chocolate lovers, rejoice! We’ll be back with even more Disney food and restaurant reviews, so stay tuned to DFB for more. Recently, Disney has announced new lands, attractions, and entertainment headed to the theme parks, new ships coming to the Disney Cruise Line, and so much more. But what about those projects that Disney hasn’t exactly announced yet? Star Tours Keeping up with the latest construction permits Disney World files can be a great way to find out just what is going on around the parks and hotels, and we recently spotted some you might want to know about! We’re always on the hunt for the latest construction permits filed by Disney to get an idea of what sort of changes might be coming to the parks, and here’s what we found this time around! Cinderella Castle Disney has filed a new permit for the Monstropolis show coming to the Glob Theater at Hollywood Studios! The contractor listed on the permit is Buena Vista Construction Company, Disney’s in-house company. The description of the permit is to “Provide labor, material and/or electrical for construction,” so this sounds like some general construction rather than anything exciting like installing set elements or signage. Future home of the Glob Theater Also in Hollywood Studios, it looks like Star Tours might be getting a little love here soon. A new permit for general construction was recently filed, and the contractor on this one is Engineering Design Services. This company specializes in everything from mechanical and piping engineering, electrical engineering, civil and structural engineering, and more. As of now, we haven’t seen any upcoming closures pop up for this ride, so it’s likely that this work won’t impact your trip to any galaxies far, far away. Star Tours Over at EPCOT, we spotted a recently filed permit to install signage in the Germany Pavilion. The permit doesn’t say what the signage is, or where exactly in the pavilion it will be installed, but the contractor listed is Kentavo, LLC, who has done extensive work installing signage with Disney in the past. Germany Pavilion And finally, over at Animal Kingdom, Disney filed a permit for electrical work that matches up with an address in the upcoming Pueblo Esperanza land. The work is being done at a building behind the former Restaurantosaurus, so it’s possible that this project will have something to do with the new quick-service spot coming to the Tropical Americas-themed land. ©Bioreconstruct In the meantime, we’ll be on the hunt for new updates from Disney World and more — so stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest news and check out our video below! Uh oh, we fear we may have another Figment Popcorn Bucket debacle on our hands, but this time, it’s all about one of our favorite chipmunks, Dale. ©Disney Chip’s chaos-loving partner is having a moment. The new Dale figurine has vanished from shelves at Walt Disney World and from Disney’s online store, shortly after it launched at $50. Now the scramble has moved to the resale market, where listings on eBay are asking five times that price, and similar listings have turned up on Mercari. For collectors who missed the drop, the red-nosed chipmunk has become one of the hardest-to-find pieces in the parks. Let us introduce you to the Dale Light-Up Christmas “Candle” Figure. While making mischief with Chip at Mickey’s house, Dale hides on the mantle as a holiday candle, borrowing Santa’s hat and beard to blend in. This memorable scene from Walt Disney’s cartoon classic, Pluto’s Christmas Tree, features flickering flame-shaped lights – brightening your seasonal décor with the gift of good cheer. ©Disney It’s adorable, right? It looks pretty much exactly like the scene from the movie, and that’s probably why it’s so popular. Nostalgia is really taking over these days, and we’re definitely loving it! ©Disney Right now, this figure is sold out online on the Disney Store, but it’s possible that it could be restocked at some point in the future. Still, that hasn’t stopped resellers from snatching them up and putting them for sale on sites like eBay and Mercari. So far, the most expensive one we’ve seen is listed for $269.95 on eBay, and it looks like four have already sold at this price! ©eBay There are a few listed for sale on Mercari also, ranging in price from $110 to $171, and some have already sold for more than $100. ©Mercari When we were at the Emporium in Magic Kingdom last week, we spotted some of the figures out on the shelves — but by the time we were heading out of the store, they had all been snatched up. We spoke with a Cast Member who said they were now all sold out at that store. It’s possible that they’re sold out at Disney World entirely, but if you happen to see one on the shelves and are thinking about buying it, make sure you do before it’s too late! ©Disney We’ll be on the lookout for even more holiday updates you need to know about from Disney World and beyond. A new store has opened in Disney Springs, and we think it’s going to be the most popular this holiday season. Disney World has a lot of stores in its shopping district, but this one might just take the cake for pure fun. You can find it in the Marketplace section Kawaii Slime Company has officially opened in the Marketplace district at Disney Springs, where the face painting kiosk used to be. Come check out the new space with us! Well, this is pretty dang cute! It’s a permanent location, so you don’t have to worry about it going away anytime soon. Come on in! It looks like ice cream, but it’s not — all slime! Ice cream slime We love that they offer discounts for Annual Passholders, Disney Vacation Club Members, Cast Members, and military and first responders. So many colors You can buy tons of different colors of slime, plus add-ons or toppings to mix in. We love the piped slime and the different frosting tips you can use. Totally satisfying. Topping options Some of the slimes looked like cake and ice cream, which made it even better. If you’re looking for a quick gift for grandkids, nieces, or nephews, this might just be the thing. Slime has completely taken over the internet, so we know kids will love seeing it wrapped under the tree or tucked into their stocking. Dessert slime There are plenty of squishies to enjoy, too. Squishies Here’s a look at some of the pricing for the scoopable slime. One scoop is $9.99, two scoops are $19.98, and toppings are $0.25 per gram. Pricing The whole space is bright, colorful, and really unique. We think Disney Springs needed a fun space like this, and it’s a perfect addition to the area. We have a sneaking suspicion that this is going to be popular, and on busier days, we might expect to see a line, especially with kids trying to pick out the perfect container of slime. Tons of options We’re always staying up to date on everything new coming to Disney World, so keep following along for more! 3 New Hydro Flask Colors Just Launched on Amazon
Disney4me posted a topic in Disney Food/Restaurants
