Horizons: A Carousel of Progress officially closed out night two of D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event presented by Visa! If you were seated in the audience, watching at home on Disney+, or just following along with Disney Parks on social, you may already want to relive that epic opening musical medley. Neil Patrick Harris is no stranger to extravagant opening numbers, and fans were treated tonight to a show-stopping, star-studded spectacle led by our host with the most as the lights dimmed and the presentation began. And what better way to honor the name and theme of tonight’s showcase than with a song dedicated to iconic Audio-Animatronics figures across Disney Parks? What Inspired the Disney Experiences Showcase Opening Number? Carousel of Progress has some of the most beloved Audio-Animatronics figures in Disney history, and others mentioned here include it’s a small world, DJ Rex from Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, and Pirates of the Caribbean. Throughout the song, Neil daydreams about his new goal in life – being a Disney Parks Audio-Animatronic figure – wistfully saying, “I bet everybody here has that one special Disney role meant just for them” at the top of the number. Joining Neil onstage was comedian Tig Notaro as Abraham Lincoln (and later the Yeti from Expedition Everest), Megan Hilty as Madame Leota, and Jack McBrayer as the Caretaker (kind of), along with musical theatre favorites Skylar Astin and Darren Criss (who we see as both pirates and hitchhiking ghosts). There was even an appearance from Disney Legend and the voice of Belle in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Paige O’Hara, and surprise cameo from Disney Legend and former Imagineer Joe Rhode. The original song had a brand-new tune with some snippets of the familiar melody from The Sherman Brothers’ “There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow,” which we know as the (extremely catchy) theme song of the Carousel of Progress, in addition to “Part of Your World” from Disney’s The Little Mermaid and “Belle” from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. The lyrics take us on a harmonic journey through the decades of Disney Parks Audio-Animatronics figures, with a live band for the evening, The Phoenicians, and an electric ensemble of dancers. Ready for an “animatronic roll call?” The song is packed full of Easter eggs and nods to Disney Parks attractions and lore, in addition to pop culture moments – let us know if you can find them all! Lyrics to the Disney Experiences Showcase Opening Number IN THIS GREAT BIG BEAUTIFUL WORLD, OR LAND THERE’S A JOB THAT’S WAITING FOR ME WHERE THE AIR IS SWEET AND THE SOUND’S PRE-PLANNED AND ADMISSION IS PERPETUALLY FREE A ROLE THAT LASTS FOREVER WITH NO BAD DAYS WHATSOEVER PART OF HISTORY WISH I COULD BE… ANIMATRONIC WHERE LIFE IS A RIDE ENTERTAINING ALL DAY WHILE AIR-CONDITIONED INSIDE ANIMATRONIC WHERE LIFE IS A BREEZE I’D NEVER FEEL MY AGE BECAUSE I’D HAVE ROBOTIC KNEES I’D SPEND ALL DAY GREETING FANS WITH GUTS MADE OF GEARS WHILE THAT SAME SYMPHONIC MUSIC PLAYS ON LOOP IN MY EARS I’D LIKE TO BE A DISNEY ANIMATRONIC AND LIVE MY LIFE ON A RIDE ANIMATRONIC I’D LIKE THE ROUTINE! We got TONS of exciting updates about the new Villains Land coming to Magic Kingdom during the Disney Experiences showcase at D23! ©Disney During the showcase, President & Chief Creative Officer Bruce Vaughn and Executive Creative Director Caroline May from Walt Disney Imagineering took to the stage to share new details about the highly anticipated Villains Land expansion, including more information on the land’s storyline and characters. It was revealed that while the overarching story of Villains Land is brand new, the characters you find throughout the land may feel familiar since Imagineers are referencing classic characters from Walt Disney Animation Studios as inspiration. Basically, you can look forward to a new adventure with an original take on some iconic baddies! ©Disney The entrance to Villains Land will take a page from classic fairytales, in which the real journey often begins when characters stray from the safe path into a foreboding forest. Upon entering Villains Land, you’ll encounter a Wishing Well with a dark twist. Disney explained the backstory of the Wishing Well: “Once upon a time, someone made an evil wish here – a wish so evil it corrupted the stone and broke open the structure, spreading the Well’s poisoned magic throughout the forest.” ©Disney But of course, the magic of the Well is hard to resist, especially to those with ill intentions, so the villains have come here to try and claim the last of the Wishing Well’s power. Disney said, “Villains Land will be shaped by those who have used this dark magic to conjure the perfect new lairs for themselves. These mighty fortresses and gleaming palaces not only reflect the personality of the villains who own them, they invite guests into a tantalizing treasure trove of treats, trinkets, and more temptations.“ The Dark Forest Model at D23 2026 In addition to the backstory of the new park expansion, Disney also confirmed that Villains Land is the official name of the land. ©Disney We also got more information about BOTH of the park’s headlining attractions. The Imagineering team teased that Maleficent’s Coaster will bring guests face-to-face with the Mistress of All Evil herself, complete with elements they’ve never attempted before on similar attractions. ©Disney Disney also shared an update on the land’s new dark ride, which will feature an array of our favorite Disney Villains, hosted by the Magic Mirror. ©Disney The size and scale of Villains Land has been compared to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, so we can’t wait to explore everything this wicked new world has to offer! We are at D23 and just finished the Horizons: A Carousel of Progress presentation, where we got a TON of news, and to our surprise, it included a BIG story that’s coming- or should we say returning- to EPCOT! Figment has been at EPCOT since 1983, when the first Journey into Imagination opened. While the attraction has been through a few different versions over the years, Figment has been a staple in the park. But before there was Figment, there was Dreamfinder — the whimsical dream-chaser who helped bring imagination to life. Introduced in the original Journey Into Imagination attraction, Dreamfinder guided guests in “collecting sounds, colors, ideas, anything that sparks the imagination.” Journey Into Imagination with Figment Until 1998, Dreamfinder was part of the attraction, and he will soon return! Disney has not shared many details yet, such as a timeline, but we are excited to see where this will take us! Stay tuned to DFB as we share all of the breaking news coming out of D23! We have been keeping a close eye on the construction happening in Disney’s Hollywood Studios for the new Monsters, Inc. land, Monstropolis. Disney just shared new details about the new land during D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, and we are getting excited! From a first look at some of the new restaurants and shops to new details about the anticipated roller coaster. ©Disney Disney shared new information about the Monsters, Inc. factory and door vault coaster under construction. First, they showed an animated look at what the loading area for the new coaster will look like. Once loaded onto the ride, riders will be lifted 40 feet in the air in 4 seconds and then launched into the vault. It already sounds like we are going to be in for a thrilling adventure through the door vault! While it is exciting to get new updates about the ride, there’s also some not-so-great news. While the rest of Monstropolis will be opening in 2027, the door coaster is still being worked on and prepped for human ridership. As a result, the coaster will NOT be opening with the rest of the land in 2027. However, that does mean we can look forward to an expansion of the land after it opens! There will be an all-new show, called “Welcome to Monstropolis”, that will be opening in 2027! Disney just announced that the Glob Theater will feature a theatrical show that will welcome guests to Monstropolis. The show will feature a brand-new song by Randy Newman called “Welcome to Monstropolis”. We also got concept art for the new show. ©Disney In addition to the “Welcome to Monstropolis” show, the new land will also feature Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza, the Monster University Alumni Club, the Scareporium, and Harryhausen’s Restaurant! There is a lot to look forward to in this new land, which will be opening in 2027. ©Disney We are bringing you all the Disney news you need to know from D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, so make sure to stay tuned to DFB for more! Name REVEALED For Villains Land In Magic Kingdom
Disney4me posted a topic in Disney Food/Restaurants
After two years of public development – and decades of daydreams from fans – Disney has released some concrete details about Villains Land! Villains Land ©Disney At the 2026 D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Disney finally revealed the details about the land “beyond Big Thunder Mountain,” including its name, and you’ll NEVER guess what it’s called! Drumroll, please! Villains Land will officially be called… Villains Land! President & Chief Creative Officer Bruce Vaughn and Executive Creative Director Caroline May from Walt Disney Imagineering wanted the endings of each land to remain the same (i.e., FrontierLAND, TomorrowLAND, etc.)—they wanted each land to feel right at home with the rest of the park. ©Disney The antagonist-driven Magic Kingdom land is scheduled to include “two major attractions, dining, and shopping on an incredibly twisted grand scale,” which we also got further details on tonight! ©Disney Disney has confirmed that Disney Legend and former animator Andreas Deja — best known for helping to bring some of the evilest Disney Villains to life onscreen, including Gaston, Jafar, and Scar — will be officially consulting on the project. Given Deja’s involvement, we’re hoping that some specific elements from various characters’ film appearances can be worked into the land’s overall architecture. ©Disney A Maleficent Coaster will headline one of the land’s attractions. Guests “will come face-to-face with the Mistress of All Evil herself, Maleficent. You’ll race through enchanted briar surrounding her frightening mountaintop fortress – if you’re feeling brave enough to answer her invitation.” ©Disney There will also be a dark ride in the land hosted by the Magic Mirror! Disney announced that “you’ll find the Magic Mirror where the Evil Queen keeps him in the catacombs beneath her pristine palace. After making your way to him, he’ll magically transport you into his mystical Mirror Realm to see things on the other side of the mirror. There, in his ethereal realm, you’ll be transfixed by countless Disney Villains conjured in ways only the Magic Mirror can do. A combination of special effects and physical set pieces will bring his Mirror Realm – and these iconic Villains – to life.” ©Disney Walt Disney Imagineering hopes to bring the feel of “magic” to this dark new corner of Magic Kingdom. The team visited Paris, France, and Barcelona, Spain, to research architecture styles to bring attributes like rich color palettes, swirling natural patterns, and ominous proportions to Villains Land. Here, “they coined the term “Conjured Architecture,” which has served as a guiding light for the style and aesthetic of the villainous landscape of Villains Land.” Stay tuned to DFB for more on this highly anticipated project. 3 Villains Land Additions That Won’t Cost Very Much But Disney Fans Will LOVE Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! A massive update is coming to Disneyland Park’s Tomorrowland! Disneyland Tomorrowland An opening-day land from 1955, Tomorrowland was created by Walt Disney to give guests glimpses of the future. Slowly evolving over the decades, the land now holds half of Matterhorn Bobsleds, Finding Nemo Voyage Submarine, Autopia, Space Mountain, Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, Astro Orbitor, a Disneyland Railroad station, Star Tours — The Adventures Continue, a couple of Quick Service restaurants, and a lack of identity. You see, Disney’s vision of the future has come and gone, and now Tomorrowland is left reeling for an updated identity. Well, Disney decided to answer the call with a new Tomorrowland project. Disneyland’s Space Mountain According to Disney, the update to Tomorrowland will honor the original land’s history “while reimagining its future.” But don’t worry, Disneyland is promising to keep what guests love most about Tomorrowland, “while also introducing new experiences and possibilities for the next generation of fans.” So exciting! ©Disney Imagineers are currently in the process of figuring out what that NEW Tomorrowland might look like, including new attractions, as well as more open spaces and “new places for Disneyland guests to dream about the future.” Disney ended its announcement by saying that the new Tomorrowland “will restore the spirit of optimism, innovation and possibility that inspired Walt Disney to create ‘a vista into a world of wondrous ideas…’ in 1955 and have defined this land for decades.” Tomorrowland in Disneyland Tomorrowland’s update is a major step forward as Disneyland dives into its decade-long DisneylandForward expansion. You know what they say: a dream can be a dream come true. “We are taking a new journey into imagination at EPCOT with Dreamfinder and Figment!” Disney Experiences Chairman Thomas Mazloum told the cheering crowd. “I’m so happy to share this news tonight. We know how important this is to you. We’ve heard you, and this is one more way we’re putting you in the center of everything we do.” There’s so much more to come about Dreamfinder and Figment’s journey back to EPCOT, but it’s not like either one of them has totally disappeared from our hearts. Who is Figment? Unless you’ve been living under a geodesic sphere for the last few years, you’ve probably seen Figment out and about around EPCOT — both doing meet-and-greets in the Imagination! pavilion, and adorning copious amounts of EPCOT and festival merchandise. Figment has been the focal point for EPCOT International Festival of the Arts since the inaugural season back in 2017. His most recent resurgence kicked off with a viral novelty popcorn bucket in 2022. But Figment’s been at EPCOT since 1983 when the first iteration of Journey into Imagination opened. While the attraction has been through a few different versions over the years, that loveable purple dragon has always been a staple in the park, becoming one of the park’s most recognizable and enduring icons. As the embodiment of imagination itself, part of what makes Figment so special is that he’s uniquely EPCOT. His curiosity and playfulness most represent the identity of EPCOT as a park. Who is Dreamfinder? Before there was Figment, there was Dreamfinder, the whimsical dream-chaser who helped bring imagination to life. Introduced in the original Journey Into Imagination attraction at EPCOT in 1983, Dreamfinder guided guests “collecting sounds, colors, ideas, anything that sparks the imagination.” The cheerful inventor and storyteller served as both creator, mentor and friend to Figment, encouraging guests to remain curious. All it takes is one little spark. For 15 years, from 1983 to 1998, Dreamfinder was at the center of Journey into Imagination, inspiring generations of EPCOT fans with his boundless optimism and sense of wonder. Decades later, fans still hold Dreamfinder close to their hearts, not just because of the adventures he shared with Figment, but because of the feeling he inspired: that imagination is something worth holding onto, no matter how old you are. Okay, don’t panic — but Disney has finally given us the things we’ve always wanted? A ride based on the doors scene in Monsters, Inc.? Yep, it’s really happening. An Encanto attraction? YES, it’s going to be part of the new Pueblo Esperanza land in Animal Kingdom. Villains Land is coming to Magic Kingdom! But one of the things Disney fans have been most vocal about throughout Disney World’s history is that we want more villains! In fact, we’ve been begging for some Villains-centric areas and rides — AND IT’S REALLY HAPPENING! A Villains Land is coming to Magic Kingdom..oh, and the name of that land is actually VILLAINS LAND. We’ve got even more news about this expansion: we now know more about one of the rides coming to that new land! Disney World’s new Villains land will be located behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. It was originally described as a place where “guests will be able to venture Beyond Big Thunder Mountain into an all-new land dedicated to Disney Villains. Inspired by the wicked characters fans know and loathe, the multi-acre expansion will include two major attractions, plus dining and shopping. Walt Disney Imagineering is pushing creative boundaries to dark and mysterious levels to bring this new, first-of-its-kind land to life.” Here’s what the original concept art of the land looks like. ©Disney Disney previously announced that the land will be home to two major rides, as well as villainous shopping and dining. Now, we’ve gone over this concept art with a microscope and tried to guess what kind of rides this new land might have, but now Disney has finally confirmed one of the attractions coming to this new part of Magic Kingdom — and we are STOKED. The Dark Forest Model at D23 2026 Maleficent will be the star of the new roller coaster, which Disney described as “thrilling.” You’ll be racing through enchanted briar around Maleficent’s mountaintop fortress. Disney also promised the ride will include things they’ve never done before. Oooh…sounds positively WICKED. ©Disney Disney also dropped details about a dark ride coming to the land that will have you going beyond the Magic Mirror to meet up with some other Disney Villains. ©Disney We’ll be waiting for more info about this land and will be sure to share all the latest updates with you! Hollywood Studios is undergoing a MAJOR change right now with the addition of Monstropolis—the new Monsters, Inc.-themed land that replaced Muppet Courtyard. Construction at Monstropolis We’re LIVE at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, and Disney just dropped a major announcement coming to this land — the quick-service restaurant! Monstropolis is officially opening in 2027 with new attractions, shows, restaurants, and dining locations, and we just got a closer look at the land’s quick-service restaurant! The location will be named Archie’s Square Pig Pizza. This will be the go-to place to grab a slice while you’re in the area! ©Disney Archie is Ear Tech’s beloved six-legged mascot, and after years of being “borrowed” by mischievous MU students, he’s become a fan favorite on both campuses! ©Disney Also in the land will be a table-service restaurant inspired by Harryhausen’s — the sushi restaurant where Mike and Celia go on a date. There will even be an Audio-Animatronic of the Chef, and we got a sneak peek! Just like in the movie, guests at the restaurant can watch as the chef’s tentacles whip up Monster-worthy creations. ©Disney A first-of-its-kind coaster will also be headlining this land — a suspended rollercoaster, where guests will where you sit in your seat while your legs dangle off the ground and the track is located above you! The attraction is inspired by the Vault — the swinging doors — and guests will be able to soar through the sky like they’re a door! ©Disney Finally, we got new details on the theater show coming to the Glob Theater! It will be named “Welcome to Monstropolis,” and will be hosted by Mike and Sulley themselves! According to Chris Beatty, Vice President, Walt Disney Imagineering, “Sulley has been working on a small, homespun show, but Mike – ever the showman – has a few surprises up his sleeve that he thinks will bring down the house. Hopefully not literally.” ©Disney Monstropolis will allow guests (aka humans) to stroll through the streets of the Monster world, as monsters try to repair their relationship with humans, now that they know human laughter is better than human screams. Magic Mirror on the wall, which land is the most menacing and magnificent of them all? This question was answered today during the Disney Experiences showcase, “Horizons: A Carousel of Progress.” Taking the stage at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event presented by Visa, fans were treated to so many spine-tingling surprises – including some eagerly awaited updates about the Villains-themed land coming to Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World. Towards the end of the show, the Magic Mirror materialized onstage with a mysterious message, before introducing Disney Experiences Chairman Thomas Mazloum. Audience members began to whisper excitedly, as the sight of that familiar face in the glass could only mean one thing – Villains. President & Chief Creative Officer Bruce Vaughn and Executive Creative Director Caroline May from Walt Disney Imagineering then took to the stage, acknowledging that the villains expansion at Magic Kingdom is one of the most highly anticipated projects they have ever been a part of. The duo dove right into their presentation, which was packed with thrilling twists and turns, and we’ve compiled everything you need to know about this sinister new land. Name Confirmed for Villains-Themed Land Bruce and Caroline confirmed today that the name for this new area will officially be Villains Land. Knowing that many of the other areas in Magic Kingdom have “land” in the name (think Fantasyland or Tomorrowland), they wanted this section to feel right at home with the rest of the park. Even though the vibe couldn’t be more different, with Villains Land bringing a devious and dark “magic” to the Magic Kingdom, it still manages to be cohesive with the storytelling of the broader park. What is the Storyline of Villains Land? It was also revealed that while the fiends you’ll find here may feel familiar since Imagineers are referencing classic characters from Walt Disney Animation Studios as inspiration, the overarching story is a brand new, original take on those iconic villains. The Magic Kingdom invites you into a fairytale and Villains Land is no exception… In many fairytales, the real journey begins when you stray from the safe path and instead turn towards the vast, foreboding forest. If you dare enter the forest of Villains Land, you may soon come across a Wishing Well that’s been torn asunder. Under most circumstances, a Wishing Well would indicate pure and good energy at work, but something dark happened to this one. Once upon a time, someone made an evil wish here – a wish so evil it corrupted the stone and broke open the structure, spreading the Well’s poisoned magic throughout the forest. But of course, this sinister setting is tempting for those with wicked intentions, so, one by one, the villains have come here to try and claim the last of the Wishing Well’s power. Villains Land will be shaped by those who have used this dark magic to conjure the perfect new lairs for themselves. These mighty fortresses and gleaming palaces not only reflect the personality of the villains who own them, they invite guests into a tantalizing treasure trove of treats, trinkets, and more temptations. The size and scale were compared to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, so there will be no shortage of space to explore and enjoy a bit of mischievous fun. Maleficent Coaster in Villains Land At D23 2024, it was revealed Villains Land would have two major attractions, in addition to shops and restaurants. Today, Bruce and Caroline shared more of the storytelling behind each attraction. The first is an exhilarating coaster experience, where you will come face-to-face with the Mistress of All Evil herself, Maleficent. You’ll race through enchanted briar surrounding her frightening mountaintop fortress – if you’re feeling brave enough to answer her invitation. The Imagineering team teased that this coaster will include elements they’ve never attempted before on similar attractions, so it is set to be a truly groundbreaking project. Mirror Realm Dark Ride in Villains Land There’s a second headlining attraction of Villains Land: a dark ride, featuring a whole array of your favorite Disney Villains – hosted by the Magic Mirror. You’ll find the Magic Mirror where the Evil Queen keeps him in the catacombs beneath her pristine palace. After making your way to him, he’ll magically transport you into his mystical Mirror Realm to see things on the other side of the mirror. There, in his ethereal realm, you’ll be transfixed by countless Disney Villains conjured in ways only the Magic Mirror can do. A combination of special effects and physical set pieces will bring his Mirror Realm – and these iconic Villains – to life. More Details About Villains Land “Villains Land is such an exciting addition to the Magic Kingdom, because it allows us to expand the park’s storytelling in a way that feels both fresh and true to its legacy and fairytale roots,” Caroline told Disney Parks Blog. “We have an incredibly talented and passionate team working behind the scenes every day to make sure this land captures the power, magic, and mischievous (and sometimes humorous) spirit of the Disney Villains, and it’s been incredibly rewarding to see that fans are just as excited as we are for what’s ahead.” It feels like yesterday that fans first learned about the plans being conjured up for a Disney Villains-themed land during D23 2024, where the very first rendering was revealed alongside sinister sneak peeks into the attractions, dining, and shopping that would define the setting. “It’s going to be a fearless new vision for what a Disney experience can be,” former Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro teased at the time as preparation and planning were already underway. Today’s updates have confirmed that Imagineers are working to create a spellbinding spectacle that truly pushes the boundaries of creativity and innovation, while taking inspiration from some of the most compelling characters. After D23 2024, as excitement continued to build and fans eagerly awaited more updates about Villains Land (even igniting plenty of rumors and theories about what is to come, which Caroline and Bruce acknowledged during today’s announcement with a laugh), the next news came from Destination D23 in 2025. During a dedicated Disney Villains panel, the Walt Disney Imagineering team acknowledged that their journey to developing the land started with the animation source material. Besides diving deep into the films themselves, the team shared that they also had inspiring conversations about the artistry of Disney Villains. By grounding Villains Land in the look and feel ofthese classic animated characters, the experience becomes even more immersive, entertaining, and filled with that dramatic flair guests know and love. Besides sharing this character-driven philosophy, the Walt Disney Imagineering team also detailed how they hope to bring the feel of “magic” to this dark new corner of Magic Kingdom. The Imagineers showcased striking snapshots from research trips that the team had embarked on as they were mapping out their vision. During visits to Paris, France, and Barcelona, Spain, Imagineers became entranced by architecture styles including Art Nouveau and Modernisme, taking note of attributes like rich color palettes, swirling natural patterns, and ominous proportions that all contribute to the feeling that these places were created by magic. It was here that they coined the term “Conjured Architecture,” which has served as a guiding light for the style and aesthetic of the villainous landscape of Villains Land. We’ll continue to reveal more nefarious news about the development of Villains Land at Walt Disney World right here on Disney Parks Blog, and keep following along for more updates from D23 2026. Let’s see… you’ve got Disney Magic, and Disney Fantasy. And Disney Dream and Disney Wonder. And after that comes Disney Wish, Disney Treasure, and Disney Destiny. Then Disney Adventure! And coming soon, Disney Believe. But then what comes next? The Disney Experiences Showcase, Horizons: A Carousel of Progress gave a sneak peek at the entirely new class of ships Disney Cruise Line will debut in 2029. Announced during D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event presented by Visa back in 2024, Disney Cruise Line is expanding its fleet to 13 over the coming years. The Disney Believe, setting sail in 2027, will be the fourth ship in the Wish class. After that, it’s time for a new story at sea with the launch of three new ships in a brand-new class. Claire Weiss joined host Neil Patrick Harris (and Jack McBrayer dressed as Captain Jack Sparrow, but that’s a story for another day) to talk about the new ships. While details are still locked away in a treasure chest, Claire revealed that these three ships will introduce an entirely new class to the fleet and occupy a unique place in Disney Cruise Line’s growing lineup. Positioned in size between Disney’s classic ships and its newer vessels, this class opens the door to exciting possibilities for future itineraries and experiences around the globe. As Claire explained to the crowd, these new ships are “right in the middle of our classic ships and our newer ones. That gives us some amazing opportunities to visit new places and reach brand new audiences we haven’t before.” For those unfamiliar with the size and scale of a Disney Cruise Line ship, that translates to bigger than the Disney Wonder, but smaller than the Disney Wish! That sweet spot in size gives Disney Cruise Line even more flexibility as it continues to grow around the world, bringing unforgettable vacations to new destinations and welcoming even more families aboard. While we’ll have to wait a little longer to learn more about these ships and the adventures they’ll offer, fans at the showcase were treated to something special: the very first preview of the new class. And when we say first look, we mean it. Claire revealed that the teaser shown during the presentation had never been seen publicly before, giving the audience an exclusive glimpse at the future of Disney Cruise Line. Sail into the first look below. What are the Disney Cruise Line Ships? With the announcement of an all-new class of ships on the horizon (no pun intended), now is the perfect time to take a look at the ships that make up the Disney Cruise Line fleet. Currently, Disney Cruise Line sails eight ships across the world. Each ship brings its own unique personality while delivering the legendary Disney storytelling, entertainment, dining, and service guests know and love. Disney Magic and Disney Wonder The ships that started it all, that introduced Disney Cruise Line’s signature blend of classic ocean liner elegance and Disney storytelling. These ships offer a more intimate feel while still delivering fan-favorite experiences, enchanting entertainment, and plenty of pixie dust around every corner. Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy Designed to bring even more magic to the high seas, the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy expanded the Disney Cruise Line experience with larger ships, innovative dining concepts, and immersive spaces inspired by favorite Disney stories. These ships are known for their grand atriums, family-friendly fun, and unforgettable entertainment from bow to stern. Disney Wish, Disney Treasure, Disney Destiny, and Disney Believe Inspired by the power of wishes and Disney storytelling, the newest ships take guests on adventures filled with beloved characters, immersive experiences, and beautifully themed spaces. Each ship in the class celebrates a different spirit of Disney storytelling while offering innovative dining, spectacular entertainment, and plenty of magical surprises along the way. Disney Adventure The most recently launched Disney Cruise Line ship, the Disney Adventure brings even more Disney magic to families around the world. The ship, which sails from Singapore, introduces exciting new experiences, larger-than-life entertainment, and imaginative spaces inspired by beloved Disney, Pixar, and Marvel stories, creating unforgettable adventures for families across Southeast Asia. Calling all dreamers and doers, Disney Cruise Line fans and future voyagers, welcome to the official Disney Believe Ship’s Log. Setting sail in late 2027, the Disney Believe promises new one-of-a-kind venue concepts and entertainment experiences that will be shaped by some of Disney’s most beloved stories, including Disney Animation’s “Encanto,” “Frozen,” “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” “Moana” and “The Little Mermaid.” Here on the Disney Parks Blog, you’re invited to virtually step inside the building dock at Meyer Werft Shipyard, peer at the sketchpads of Disney artists, attend Broadway-style stage show rehearsals, and access rare, behind-the-scenes moments as teams across Disney Cruise Line, Walt Disney Imagineering, and Disney Live Entertainment work to bring the Disney Believe to life. We can’t wait to share more about this exciting new chapter for the Disney Cruise Line fleet. Be sure to bookmark this page and follow along @DisneyCruiseLine and @DisneyParks social channels for updates about the Disney Believe. First Look: Disney Believe Grand Hall and More D23 Announcements| Aug. 15, 2026 Claire Weiss, Portfolio Executive Creative Director, took to the D23 stage today to spotlight new details about the Disney Believe during the event’s highly anticipated Horizons: D23 Disney Experiences Showcase. The announcement included a first look at plans for the ship’s Grand Hall and distinct exterior artwork, including character sculpture models for the ship’s stern and artwork that will be embossed on its bow. Like its sister ships – the Disney Wish, the Disney Treasure and the Disney Destiny – the Disney Believe’s Grand Hall will serve as a central gathering space for guests, themed to a beloved Disney story. Onboard the Disney Believe, the Grand Hall will be infused with the optimistic spirit of exploration from Disney Animation’s “Moana” films. A bronze cast statue of Moana, accompanied by her faithful companions Pua and Heihei, will be a focal point inside the venue, gazing proudly toward new horizons. The never-before-seen rendering also hinted at influences from the film’s idyllic South Pacific setting, which will be layered with artisanal Polynesian finishes that honor the cultural traditions of the region. The whimsical details designed for the Disney Believe’s exterior hull were also unveiled. Following a well-established Disney Cruise Line tradition, each new build, including the Disney Believe, features its own unique character artwork, adding nostalgic touches of Disney magic to every ship. A new rendering showcased larger-than-life sculptures of Woody and Buzz Lightyear hitching a ride on the Disney Believe’s stern. The dependable duo from Disney and Pixar’s “Toy Story” films will appear working together to etch the ship’s name across the back of the vessel with large yellow crayons. In place of the classic looped calligraphy seen stamped across the Disney Cruise Line fleet, Woody and Buzz will opt for playful lettering that mimics the franchise’s famous block-style font. D23 attendees and livestream viewers also learned that the Disney Believe’s bow will be decorated with a delicate, hand-painted filigree of Tinker Bell as she first appeared in the Walt Disney Animation Studios 1953 classic “Peter Pan.” The spunky fairy will be flanked by the silhouettes of Peter, Wendy, Captain Hook and other characters from the film flying amid the swirling design. “This ship celebrates belief in magic, family, the power of nature, and belief in yourself,” Claire told the audience. “And all the stories we tell onboard will be tied together by the core Disney notion of believing in something fantastical.” The post Disney Believe Updates: New Disney Cruise Ship Sailing in Late 2027 appeared first on Disney Parks Blog. Work is underway on an all-new Coco attraction coming to Disneyland Resort! Following a live performance of La Llorona by Grammy-winning artists Los Lobos, Disney superfan and host of the Disney Experiences showcase Neil Patrick Harris was joined by Walt Disney Imagineers with big announcements to share. Ali Rubinstein (Senior Vice President, Global Cretive & Development Studios) and Emily O’Brien (Portflio Executive Creative Producer, Disneyland Resort and Tokyo Disney Resort) took to the stage at Horizons: A Carousel of Progress at D23: The Ultimate Fan Event presented by Visa, revealing new details about the first Coco ride ever at a Disney park, which was first announced at D23 2024. Stepping into the colorful, wonderful world of Disney and Pixar’s Coco, fans will be able to spot favorite friends like Miguel, Dante, Héctor, and more as we remember Miguel’s unforgettable trip to the Land of the Dead. As we heard last night, Disney and Pixar’s Coco 2 is well underway, and Imagineers are working closely with Pixar to ensure this family-friendly attraction nods to both the original and upcoming film. This attraction will celebrate all the things we love about Coco, highlighting the characters, music, Mexican culture, and the love of a family that’s passed down through the generations. The attraction storyline will pick up a year after the events of the original film. The queue, which will begin in Pixar Pier next to Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind, welcomes you to a “casa museo” dedicated to the music of Miguel’s great-great grandfather, Héctor Rivera. From there, you’ll join Miguel and travel by boat through his memories of the Land of the Dead. It will truly be a beautiful, moving experience full of fun and surprises, leaning heavily into the music and emotion of the cherished Pixar film while inviting you to live Miguel’s journey alongside your own friends and family. And it’ll be a ride the whole family can enjoy, as there will be no height requirement. Construction on the attraction is currently in progress in the area near Paradise Gardens Park and Pixar Pier. Walt Disney Imagineering is also continuing to draw inspiration from classic attractions like Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion for the development of this attraction, bringing the skeletal cast of characters to life through the latest Audio-Animatronics technology. A new Indiana Jones ride is replacing DINOSAUR in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. While Disney has already announced that this will be a brand-new ride and story, we haven’t received many more details than that. Dinosaur There is already an Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland Park which has an almost identical ride system and track to DINOSAUR at Disney World. However, Disney promised that the ride would not be an exact copy in Disney World, and we just got MORE details about what to expect with the DINOSAUR retheme in Disney’s Animal Kingdom! We just got some HUGE news from Disney! While we knew Indiana Jones was coming to Animal Kingdom, we just found out more details on what the retheme entails. Previously, all Disney had released was that the Indiana Jones ride will feature a brand-new story. As described by Disney, the attraction will follow “the man with the hat” during a time when he has “recently discovered a perfectly preserved Maya temple, and that can only mean one thing: it’s time to explore it. He’s heard rumors about a mythical creature deep within the temple — and he’s got to see it for himself. So, he brings us along on the adventure… but will there be snakes? We’ll just have to wait and see.” New Indiana Jones Ride ©Disney Now we know even more! Disney has officially announced that the name of the attraction in Animal Kingdom will be Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent! ©Disney It was also revealed that Disney Legend Harrison Ford is the actual model for the next Indiana Jones animatronic, and Ford himself confirmed in a message to the crowd that this is the first time he’ll be the face seen on a Disney attraction anywhere in the world. ©Disney As for the inspiration behind the name and storyline, it was explained that in Mayan mythology, the entrance to the underworld is protected by a giant serpent. The ride will feature an original story with a “confrontation at the end that is jaw-dropping in every way.” The story takes place in 1950 before Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. As Indy gets close to the Mayan artifact he’s seeking, he gets sucked into a portal to the underworld, kicking off an all-out chase to escape before time runs out. He’ll face all kinds of dangers, including bats, scorpions, and flames. ©Disney The new Indiana Jones ride will be a part of the rethemed Tropical Americas land called Pueblo Esperanza. This land is replacing DinoLand, U.S.A. and will also feature an Encanto ride. This new land is expected to make its debut in 2027. We may not talk about Bruno here on Disney Parks Blog, but we certainly can talk about the Encanto attraction coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park at Walt Disney World! This new development will be one of two headlining attractions that will find a home in the new land, Tropical Americas, and we just received an abundance of updates from “Horizons: A Carousel of Progress” at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event presented by Visa. Chief Creative Officer of Disney Animation Studios Jared Bush, who also happens to be the writer and director of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Encanto, took to the Honda Center stage, giving fans a preview into how this lively land is coming together, including brand new details about the story and inspiration behind the Encanto attraction. New Details About the Encanto Attraction at Animal Kingdom Jared reflected on the events of last night’s Studios showcase, where a sensational slate of upcoming films was shared with an enthusiastic audience. When asked by actor Skylar Astin what it’s like bringing those movies to life in the form of theme park experiences, he fondly recalled a legacy that traces all the way back to Walt Disney’s original dream for Disneyland. Walt wanted a place where films could be pulled from the screen and into the real world in a transformative, tangible way, and credits the new Encanto attraction as being a key part of this rich history. The first big reveal came with confirmation of the attraction’s official name: Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto. As previously shared, guests will be invited to celebrate Antonio’s new gift, which is the ability to communicate with animals. And the heartwarming message of this adventure is that we are all part of the familia of living things, regardless of our special gifts or abilities. Voice actors from Disney Animation’s Encanto return to Casita to lend their voices, including Stephanie Beatriz, Jessica Darrow, and Diane Guerrero, playing the roles of Mirabel, Luisa, and Isabella, respectively. A behind-the-scenes video of them recording was shared for the crowd, with Jessica explaining that “it’s sort of a perfect film to take all these colors and excitement out of and allow audiences to immerse themselves in it.” Another helpful tidbit we learned? There will be no height requirement for the attraction, so it’s a fun family-friendly item to add to your Animal Kingdom itinerary. What Will the Encanto Attraction Be Like? Jared shared that one of the most fun parts of working with Imagineers on this project has been to expand the world of Encanto as we know it by creating new parts of the Madrigal house you never see in the film. Since the attraction takes place on Antonio’s gift day, a sacred and special occasion for the family, riders are invited to Casita as part of a cheerful celebration. When you enter the house, you’ll board a ride vehicle meant to represent the different pieces of furniture assembled by the power of Casita to carry you through the rooms. They feel lively and dynamic, reacting like characters themselves to the scenes unfolding around you, which feels so perfectly representative of what we felt from the film. Jared showed a new rendering that details how you’ll move through the house, eventually ending upstairs in Antonio’s room. The space has been transformed into a verdant rainforest, overflowing with animal species of many shapes and sizes. In total, there are more than 50 animals represented inside the attraction, and we got to see a first glimpse at some of them in action, including a very cute capybara receiving a hair trim, along with a toucan and donkey. Imagineer Joan Hartwig had previously given us an inside look at the research trip that the team had taken to Colombia, where they saw firsthand how certain colors, materials, and structures interact with things like climate, terrain, and the overall culture of the region. This mission of telling authentic stories with extreme care and attention to detail is present throughout the entire project process – we learned today that Walt Disney Imagineering partnered with Disney’s Animals, Science and Environment Team to make sure all of the animals included in the attraction are accurate to Colombia. Learn More About El Carrusel de los Animalitos New photos revealed during the presentation showed the progress on construction in the Tropical Americas land, with things starting to really take shape. One of the other attractions that guests of all ages can experience here is the beautiful animal-themed carousel, which was announced today as officially being called El Carrusel de los Animalitos. 22 figures of hand-carved animals from beloved Disney and Pixar stories will make up this relaxing ride, and you may have spotted some in the Walt Disney Imagineering pavilion on the show floor this weekend. El Carrusel de los Animalitos is a uniquely Animal Kingdom-inspired adaptation of a classic Disney attraction, and I can’t wait to see it come to life. What Else Can I Expect From Tropical Americas? As previously announced during D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in 2024, Tropical Americas is the newest land being built in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, celebrating the myths and magic of the rainforest. In addition to Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto and El Carrusel de los Animalitos, an all-new Indiana Jones adventure called Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent will be a highlight of the land for guests who love a good adventure. You can read more about this exhilarating experience here on Disney Parks Blog. Final food and beverage plans are still being cooked up, but guests will enjoy eating at a large hacienda, which will be one of the largest quick-service restaurants in all of Walt Disney World Resort property. And we can of course expect some spots for souvenir shopping as well, along with a play area inspired by the Maya, where young explorers can unearth artifacts through hands-on play. Don’t miss out on more updates and news from D23 2026 and stay tuned for future news as Tropical Americas continues to blossom at Animal Kingdom.
