Across Walt Disney World, Disney chefs bring their own experiences, cultures, and perspectives into the kitchens they lead. Some learned to cook surrounded by large family gatherings, watching a parent bring people together through food. Others were inspired by mentors who invested in their growth. In recognition of National Culinary Arts Month, we’re taking a closer look at five Disney chefs who are all doing the same thing in their own way — turning a meal into something guests can taste, feel, and remember. Chef Alex from Be Our Guest Restaurant at Magic Kingdom When Chef Alex talks about her career, she doesn’t immediately talk about food. She talks about the cast. “You might have the same meal twice, but it’s the cast who make it different,” she shared. As a sous chef in one of Magic Kingdom’s most iconic restaurants, Alex helps lead nearly 100 culinary cast members. The role comes with the responsibility of serving thousands of guests, but what matters most to her is helping others grow in the same way Disney leaders once helped her. After beginning her Disney journey through the Disney Culinary Program, Alex was encouraged by chefs who saw her potential and challenged her to grow every day. Now, she hopes to do the same for the next generation of culinarians. For Alex, the magic guests experience starts long before they sit down at a table. It begins backstage, when cast members feel supported, valued, and confident in what they’re creating. “When people feel cared for, they naturally pass that feeling on,” she explained. “Our guests may come for a meal, but what stays with them is the people behind it.” That same care carries into kitchens across Walt Disney World, where food can also become a way to celebrate culture and help guests feel connected to the story around them. Chef Carlos from Le Cellier Steakhouse at EPCOT Growing up in Puerto Rico, Chef Carlos learned early that some of life’s most meaningful moments happen around a table. Family gatherings were filled with conversation, laughter, and food made with care. At Le Cellier Steakhouse in EPCOT’s Canada pavilion, Carlos works to create that same sense of connection for guests. He collaborates with Cultural Representatives from Canada, listens to their perspectives and looks for ways to bring authentic storytelling into each dining experience. “Every conversation, every cultural perspective, every idea shared in the kitchen helps shape the experience guests have at the table,” Carlos said. “That’s what makes food powerful. It can help someone feel connected to a place they may be visiting for the first time.” In a park built on bringing the world together, that is exactly what he loves most. The connection begins not with a place, but with the people in front of them. Chef Koli Listens to Guests at Disney’s Hollywood Studios Some chefs find inspiration in cookbooks. Chef Koli finds it in people. Whether he’s talking with guests during table touches or exploring emerging culinary trends, Koli is constantly asking questions: What excites guests? What flavors surprise them? What might make their day even more memorable? That curiosity traces back to his childhood in Africa, where he watched his mother transform ingredients from the family farm into meals that brought people together throughout the community. He still remembers the way people spoke about how those meals made them feel. Today, he brings that same mindset to Hollywood Studios, creating food inspired by the people who gather around it. The next time you visit Backlot Express, you may see him connecting with guests — and some of his best culinary ideas have come simply from listening. That spirit of curiosity takes on another form at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park where food helps deepen the world guests have stepped into. Chef Charles from Satu’li Canteen at Animal Kingdom Chef Charles loves the moment a guest tries something unexpected. That’s when a dish goes from a meal to a memory. At Satu’li Canteen in Pandora – The World of Avatar, he helps create dishes that feel familiar enough to be comforting yet adventurous enough to spark curiosity. Every ingredient, flavor, and menu choice plays a role in the larger story guests are experiencing around them. “A dish should never feel interchangeable,” he shared. “It should taste like it belongs exactly where you found it.” That idea comes to life beautifully at Animal Kingdom, where food is part of the environment, the atmosphere and the sense of discovery. Whether the inspiration comes from real cultural traditions or imagined worlds, the goal is the same: to help guests feel immersed in the story around them. For Charles, that is where culinary becomes a way to transport someone, spark curiosity, and make a place feel fuller and more alive. Gregory from The Ganachery at Disney Springs For Gregory, some of the most meaningful moments are also the sweetest. As an assistant sous chef chocolatier at The Ganachery, Gregory loves when the chocolatiers feature handcrafted confections infused with tropical flavors like guava, passion fruit, and coconut. These flavors feel deeply personal and allow him to share a taste of his Salvadoran heritage. “We want to make something guests love. Knowing they are coming to taste what we create is very humbling.” But even more than the chocolate itself, Gregory enjoys the connections he makes with guests from around the world while serving treats made with passion and care. Whether he is helping a guest choose a flavor or sharing in the excitement of a first taste, Gregory knows those small interactions can leave a lasting impact. That is what he loves most about his role: making something beautiful, sharing it generously, and creating a sweet connection one guest at a time. When we’re at Disney World, we love heading to Ale & Compass. This table-service restaurant serves New England-style cuisine at an affordable price, only a 5-minute walk from EPCOT‘s International Gateway at Yacht Club. Our Ale & Compass breakfast spread Disney just announced ten brand-new menu items are coming to Ale & Compass today, but we’re massively side-eyeing Disney for this, because we’ve already eaten these “new” foods! For their new breakfast additions, Disney announced there would be new Dark Chocolate Waffles. But there’s a problem – we’ve already eaten their Dark Chocolate Waffles! These are the same waffles as usual, but now served with espresso whipped cream instead of regular whip. Additionally, the new Crab Cakes Eggs Benedict looks very similar to the Crab Cake Benedict we saw last year. It looks like the only difference is an egg on top! Dark Chocolate Waffles On their new Lunch & Dinner menu, there are quite a few similar items, too. The Blue Crab Bisque was already on the menu, but now it’s made with Chili Oil instead of Espelette Oil. There’s a brand-new New England Seafood Pot Pie, but this sounds reallyyyy similar to their old Seafood Pot Pie! Seafood Pot Pie And lastly, the Stuffed French Toast is new, but Ale & Compass has had multiple variations of French Toast over the years. We’ve tried the Stuffed Apple French Toast before, which we enjoyed. This new Stuffed French Toast is filled with French vanilla stuffing and seasonal fruit compote, so it’s a similar variation of past menu items. Different kind of French toast! The menu items that are legitimately brand-new include the Maryland-style Crab Cake and Steak Frites. The three dessert menu items are also completely new, with a Banana Crème Brûlée, a Peanut Butter-Marshmallow Cup, and a Boston Cream Pie. ©Disney We’re so excited to try the brand-new menu items at Ale & Compass, but we’re pretty bummed that half of this list isn’t technically new. Disney just announced something new coming to D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, and it’s for all you Disney shoppers! ©Disney Disney recently dropped a ton of information on the shopping experience at this year’s D23, and in that, Disney shared that a new brand called .YNSD is coming. The brand is designed by Walt Disney Imagineering and is inspired by the “same curiosity, craft, and attention to detail that shape Disney experiences around the World.” If you think .YNSD looks familiar, it’s because it’s the reversal of Disney without vowels (DSNY), and a reference to Sorcerer Apprentice Mickey’s mentor from Disney’s Fantasia. The brand is pronounced yen-sid, and is designed by Walt Disney Imagineering. ©Disney This new brand takes a design-first approach, using materials, textures, silhouettes, and construction details to carry the story. Some references are immediate, and you’ll catch them right away. Others reveal themselves only over time. Seems interesting, right?! ©Disney The new brand is dropping two collections. The first is The Debut Collection, and it establishes the brand’s design language through clean silhouettes, modern essentials, and a fresh perspective on Disney-inspired apparel. The main focus is on “craftsmanship, versatility, and understated design.” The pieces feature tonal graphics, embroidered details, custom trims, and more. ©Disney The pieces also feature custom patches, specialty finishes, and photochromic inks that reveal graphics when exposed to sunlight, while other references are put into the design quietly rather than placed front and center. We all have our own personal strategy for tackling the EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival — favorite booths, must-try dishes, the perfect walking route around World Showcase. But this one trick will set you up for success. Full Spread at Mexico Global Marketplace The 2026 EPCOT Food and Wine Festival runs from August 27th to November 21st, 2026 — nearly three full months of Global Marketplaces, live music, and enough snacks to keep any foodie busy all fall. Before you head in, let’s talk about the trick that will make your whole day easier. Hydrate With all the food and alcohol available at the booths, it’s shockingly easy to get dehydrated without realizing it — especially with Florida heat still lingering into the festival’s opening weeks. Make it a habit to bring a refillable water bottle with you, or swing by a quick service location for a cup of water in between booths. Keep in mind that most festival booths do not offer free water, so it’s on you to plan ahead rather than assume you’ll find it easily along the way. 2024 Food & Wine Festival Bring a Tray This one small item is a total game-changer. Bringing a tray with you gives you a flat, stable surface for carrying food and drinks, so you’re not white-knuckling a cup in one hand and a plate in the other while dodging strollers through World Showcase. It also means you can carry multiple items at once without risking a sauce spill down your shirt right before your next photo op. Grabbing food from a booth becomes so much easier, too — instead of eating standing up right at the counter, you can carry your tray to a quieter spot and actually enjoy what you ordered. And since tables fill up fast (they almost always do), a tray means you’re not stuck circling the pavilion hunting for a trash can lid or a ledge just to set your food down for two seconds. Get a food tray! Want to see a Concert? Book an Eat to the Beat Dining Package! If one of your favorite artists is playing at the Eat to the Beat Concert Series, don’t take your chances on standby seating. Disney brings in some seriously popular acts, and those shows fill up fast. The easiest way to guarantee yourself a seat is to book an Eat to the Beat dining package. You’ll get a reserved seat for the concert and a meal at a participating EPCOT restaurant. If you still want to eat your way through the festival, look for the Regal Eagle Smokehouse option — it’s quick service, which means you can grab something casual and still lock in your concert seat. Just know that option is very limited and sells out fast, so act quickly once booking opens. Eat to the Beat Concert crowds Make a Plan Ahead of Time Finally, walking into the festival with no plan at all can mean wasted money and stomach space on dishes that don’t live up to the hype. When it comes to dining at Disney World, you’ve got a TON of options. Want something quick and easy? You’ve got it. Something middle of the road and comforting? Yep, that too. And if you’re looking for something upscale and luxurious, you can find that as well. Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom We recently stopped by Cinderella’s Royal Table at Magic Kingdom to see what was cookin’, and now we’re bringing you our FULL review. Is it worth a stop on your next trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth? Find out here! Atmosphere Now the atmosphere is a major draw for guests to dine at Cinderella’s Royal Table. You’re dining inside Cinderella Castle, and it doesn’t get much more “Disney magic” than that. The location is one of the big things (and sometimes one of the only things) that makes this restaurant a must-do. The views are stunning You’ll find incredible theming and decor throughout the restaurant, making you really feel like you’re inside a castle. The stone walls are adorned with tapestries and art, while the windows feature gorgeous stained glass. If you look up, you’ll notice opulent chandeliers and even more decor. The decor will make you feel like you’re in a castle If you look up, you may even find a few of Cinderella’s pals. Gus and Jaq This character dining is unique as you’ll meet Cinderella before your meal, with a special meet and greet and photo op before heading up to your table. Don’t worry — there will be plenty more princesses once you’re seated at your table! Cinderella Meet and Greet Regarding seating, there are standard tables and chairs here, which are located on various levels and in the various seating spaces within the restaurant. From what we’ve experienced, the tables here can feel a bit squished together sometimes, so that’s something to keep in mind. Seating Here’s a look at where we were seated, with a stellar view of Prince Charming’s Regal Carrousel. If you can request a table next to the window, it’s definitely worth doing. Those windows will give you some of the most unique views of Magic Kingdom. Of course, Disney might not always be able to accommodate this request, but it never hurts to ask! Our table with a view of Fantasyland The princesses here will rotate, but you can always find Cinderella! Meet Cinderella while dining on fairytale-inspired fare. But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?! Menu Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served here — and all are served prix fixe, meaning you’ll pay one set price for multiple courses. The price has also increased since the characters returned. We went for dinner, which is now $76 per adult and $47 per child, plus tax and gratuity. Breakfast Menu This can be a pretty big chunk of your Disney World dining budget — especially for breakfast. While we’ve had mediocre meals here in the past, what you’re really paying for is the overall experience, atmosphere, and characters. This is one of those bucket list Disney dining experiences. Still, if you don’t care about character interactions and dining in the castle, this is a pretty steep price to pay when there are some other incredible restaurants nearby. Your options for breakfast And now, onto the main event — the food! Eats First up, every table gets Assorted Breakfast Pasteries. It’s easy to underestimate a basket of little pastries, but this assortment consistently outperforms expectations. While the presentation might suggest a grocery store bakery case, the flavors tell a different story. These items feel more intentional than their appearance lets on. The Mickey-shaped pastry is the most straightforward of the bunch, essentially a moist blueberry muffin top. It isn’t the most exciting option, but the blueberries are generously sized, sweet, and soak beautifully into the surrounding bread, keeping the bite from feeling one-note. Assorted Breakfast Pasteries The real standouts are the chocolate twists and the cinnamon rolls. The chocolate twists resemble mini Cheshire Cat tails and deliver a fun, playful bite, while the cinnamon rolls are the true winners of the basket. These lean into a more classic cinnamon roll style than the oversized versions found elsewhere at Disney World, striking an excellent balance between cinnamon swirl and bread. Their smaller size also works in their favor, resulting in a more consistent bake throughout compared to the larger rolls that can sometimes turn out uneven. The real standouts are the chocolate twists and the cinnamon rolls. For our vegan-friendly option, we had a bowl of Fresh Fruit to replace the assorted pastries. This was a massive bowl of fruit that included strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, and honeydew. While we really appreciated this, we did miss having some sort of pastry on the table that I could have eaten. Part of the fun of a breakfast like this is getting that sugar fix you’re allowed to have first thing in the morning because they call them pastries, right? There was nothing like that on the table for those of us with allergies or special dietary needs. Fresh Fruit For our entree, we ordered the Banana-Stuffed French Toast. This is a French Toast stuffed with Bananas with Sweet Cream Cheese, served with Caramel Sauce and Bacon. This dish is very indulgent. Make no mistake — this should be ordered if you’re looking for a rich, decadent start to the day. That said, the execution is excellent. The texture leans closer to bread pudding than traditional French toast, with none of the eggy quality one might expect. The banana is cooked directly into the bread, giving the dish a flavor profile reminiscent of banana pudding or a rum-free Bananas Foster, an effect that’s further enhanced by the accompanying caramel. Banana-stuffed French Toast The dish is served with a side of bacon, as it offers a savory counterpoint to cut through all that sweetness. The bacon itself is standard Disney fare, neither notably crisp nor chewy. It won’t be anyone’s favorite element on the plate, but it won’t disappoint either, making it a functional addition to an otherwise very sweet dish. Banana-stuffed French Toast For our vegan reporter, we tried the Traditional Plant-based Breakfast. This includes Plant-based Scrambled Eggs with Peppers, Onions, and Spinach served with Impossible® Breakfast Sausage, Potatoes, and Multigrain Bread. These may be the best vegan eggs available at Disney World, and quite possibly among the best encountered anywhere. The typical aftertaste associated with mung bean-based vegan eggs is notably absent here, and the texture achieves a fluffiness that’s hard to pull off in plant-based versions of the dish. Loaded with peppers, onions, and spinach, these eggs were packed with flavor. Traditional Plant-based Breakfast The Impossible-brand plant-based sausage patties are a rare find at Disney World, making this dish something of a luxury for plant-based guests. Most locations across the parks rely on the same vegan sausage link, which does double duty as the vegan hot dog at Casey’s Corner. The patty itself delivers an authentic sausage flavor and texture, closely mimicking traditional breakfast sausage rather than reading as a clear substitute. For plant-based guests who frequently dine at Disney World and regularly encounter the same handful of meat-alternative products, this variation offers a genuinely exciting option. We loved the sausage patties. These breakfast potatoes are something special, reminding us of the potatoes served at The Cake Bake Shop. They aren’t heavily herbed, aside from a light green garnish, yet the cooking technique alone delivers outstanding flavor. The potatoes manage to feel packed with flavor without being overtly seasoned. Even the multigrain bread stands out as a thoughtful addition to the meal. Served as triangles of toast alongside melted vegan butter for dipping, it reads as a clear effort to compensate for the absence of an allergy-friendly pastry basket at the table. Very filling breakfast. Nosh or Not This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if… You’re looking for a unique dining experience in Cinderella Castle. You want to meet a ton of Disney Princesses all at once. You are looking for a hearty plant-based option. You should skip this Disney World spot if… You don’t care about Disney Princesses or eating in the castle. You don’t want to take a chunk out of your park day for a table service meal. You’re trying to stick to a budget and don’t want to spend a lot on your meals. Overall Hardly anything can top dining in Cinderella Castle — it’s a magical Disney World experience you won’t get anywhere else, but at a price. This time around, the breakfast was thoroughly enjoyable, though it’s still a pretty steep price for eats that can be found elsewhere in the park or nearby (like at Kona Cafe or Steakhouse 71). This particular visit came with an early 8:35 reservation, and perhaps because it made for a slower morning, the servers seemed noticeably more relaxed than during a previous visit with a 9:30-ish reservation a month or so prior. Cinderella’s Royal Table The table assignment was also a highlight this time around — a two-top set right in the center of the room overlooking Fantasyland, though that vantage point comes with a small catch: because two-tops are trickier to snag and require a small party, and the bright morning sun made it hard to fully appreciate the magic lighting effect during the wish-granting moment. Cinderella herself hadn’t made her way out yet at the start of the meal, so there was a short wait before she arrived to begin greeting guests. The princesses remain the big draw here, so if a bucket list meal is the goal, Cinderella’s Royal Table could be it. But for those who want the princess experience without the fanfare of the castle, Akershus Royal Banquet Hall in EPCOT is worth considering instead. The D23 Expo is just around the corner, and we’re counting down the days until we can check out this year’s Ultimate Disney Fan Event. Pixar from 2022 D23 From August 14th-16th, D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event will take place in Anaheim, California. Disney has shared the schedule for D23, as well as some of the exhibits that will be coming. Now, D23 has shared information on new shopping experiences, new merch, and details on how to shop. The D23 Expo offers Disney fans big announcements, behind-the-scenes looks, special guests, unique panels, and a show floor featuring exhibits and exclusive stores. We love all the things that you get to watch and experience, but we also LOVE the shopping. Disney announced eight stores coming to the Expo that will be offering exclusive merchandise, and we’re sharing them all with you. Animation exhibit D23 Marketplace The D23 Marketplace is the central shopping hub at the D23 Expo. It offers a curated assortment of merchandise and must-have collectibles celebrating some of Disney’s most beloved stories, characters, and franchises. Be on the lookout for The Princess Diaries 25th Anniversary Collection, Star Wars and Marvel must-haves, global Disney Parks collections, the return of Disney Fine Art, and so much more. ©D23 New at this year’s event is the D23 Marketplace Pin Store, a space featuring specially curated limited-edition and limited-release pins, with new designs released on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday during the Expo. Completing the space is the D23 Marketplace Photobooths and Medallions, home to personalized products and event-exclusive medallions. Fans will be able to access the D23 Marketplace via virtual queue throughout the event, with a standby queue option opening after all boarding groups have been redeemed. Marvel merchandise at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event Disney Store At Disney Store, fans can shop uniquely imagined special-edition products and collections including Disney x Formula 1, Blooms by Disney, and an assortment of Disney Store exclusive plush, as well as preview an all-new collaboration with SkinnyDip London. The first location, The Walt Disney Company Store, will exclusively host the official collection for D23 2026, featuring brand collaborations from RSVLTS, Spirit Jersey, Nike, and Loungefly. The store will introduce a collection inspired by Walt Disney’s office in Burbank, California. A tribute to the man who started it all. This location will also feature collections showcasing some fan-favorite Disney animated Epic Rivals, iconic Walt Disney Studios landmarks, and an all-new collection from HARVEYS with one-of-a-kind designs developed through decommissioned seatbelts from Soarin’ Over California. ©D23 The Walt Disney Company Pin Store will offer a large assortment of limited-edition pins, mystery boxes, and framed sets, perfect for pin collectors of all levels. All merchandise is subject to availability, with a daily pin catalogue launching each day during the Expo. Fans will be able to access the Disney Studio Store Hollywood via virtual queue throughout the event, with a standby queue option opening after all boarding groups have been redeemed. There will also be a steady cadence of book signings with some fan-favorite authors as well as a “sip & shop” experience featuring a delicious new Disneyland Resort coffee blend from Joffrey’s Coffee & Tea Co. Fans will be able to access Disney Publishing Books & Brew via standard queue throughout the event. Disney Publishing Books & Brew will be cashless with only card and contactless payment options accepted. Registration to attend in-booth signings will be conducted via virtual queue. ©D23 The Disney Experiences Auction – Rare and Remarkable Finds Lastly, The Disney Experiences Auction – Rare and Remarkable Finds is a new store coming to D23. On Sunday, August 16th, fans at D23 and globally online will be able to be a part of this experience. We don’t have tons of information on this, but we know that fans attending D23 can preview items up for auction throughout the event weekend by visiting The Disney Experiences Auction Showroom. This is an immersive experience space via a standby queue. Fans can learn more, register, and bid early on items at Heritage Auctions. The showroom will also include a shopping experience that will allow fans a unique opportunity to shop rare and remarkable limited-quantity props, artwork, and themed items found within Disney’s Parks, Resorts, and ships. ©D23 Select retail destinations will require a virtual queue for entry. Sign up for a boarding group with virtual queue and explore the show floor while waiting to shop. Starting at 6 AM PT and at 1 PM PT each day of the event, fans within a 90-mile radius of the Anaheim Convention Center can use the Disney D23 app and the Disneyland Resort app to enter a virtual queue. Join in a group of up to two people, one queue at a time, subject to availability. Standby queue options may open throughout the weekend after all boarding groups have been redeemed. Joining the virtual queue does not grant immediate access, and there may still be a waiting period at the location once the boarding group is called. SO much stuff Some stores will also offer mobile order for pickup and merchandise mobile checkout. There’s also Disney Store eCommerce Day, which returns Monday, August 17th at 8 AM PT. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is one of Disney World’s most popular seasonal events, as the spooky spectacular’s offerings of candy, treats, and Halloween-themed characters, entertainment, and theming have all become fall traditions for many. Guests in costume For some guests, the biggest highlight of the party is the ability to wear a costume inside the Magic Kingdom, a treat that’s usually reserved for guests 13 and under during Disney’s normal operating rules. However, those planning on dressing up should keep in mind the strict rules Disney enforces on costumes during the event. As stated above, guests ages 13 and under can wear costumes during normal operations, and the same goes for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, when guests under 14 can wear costumes and costume masks, as long as those masks provide unobstructed peripheral vision at all times with openings that allow the eyes to be fully seen. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party! As for guests 14 and over, they may dress in costumes that follow the following guidelines. However, Disney is quick to note that guests who do not adhere to these guidelines may be “refused entry into, and/or removed from Disney parks, unless their costume can be modified to meet the above standards.” The Phineas & Ferb crew The guidelines include: While guests may dress as their favorite character, they may not pose for pictures or sign autographs for fellow guests Costumes must be family-friendly and may not be obstructive, offensive, objectionable, or violent Costumes may not contain any props or accessories that resemble or could easily be mistaken for an actual weapon Costumes may not contain sharp objects, pointed objects, or materials that may accidentally strike another Guest Layered costumes or costume props that surround the entire body are strongly discouraged and may be subject to additional security screening Costumes may not reach or drag on the ground — that includes floor-length Princess dresses and gowns Capes may be worn if the length does not go below the waist Costume masks of any kind may not be worn Guests cannot wear badges or pins that mimic Cast Member name tags Disney does specify that themed T-shirts, blouses, sweatshirts, hats, transparent wings, plastic lightsabers, toy swords, tutus, and headwear that does not cover the face are allowed. For better or worse, Disney World is always changing. That’s clear to anyone visiting right now, as massive projects like Piston Peak, Monstropolis, and Tropical Americas dominate the landscape. However, Disney’s not done. Something is being added! A recent report on some new technologies Disney is working on sheds light on the kind of things we may see coming to the resort in the years to come. It’s given us an idea as to what the company could do with a massive area in the middle of Animal Kingdom that’s been sitting abandoned for ages. In a recent Bloomberg article on Imagineering, the outlet expanded on the aquatic robot prototypes that Disney had first teased last year. According to the outlet, Disney shared a “ray-like robot” that uses hydrofoil technology to propel itself through the water. This prototype could potentially be used to represent Gramma Tala’s spirit form from Moana. ©Bloomberg Bloomberg was also shown a video of a pair of mechanical dolphins swimming together in a lagoon, interacting with each other in a way that’s meant to tell a story. These animated figures use jet pump propulsion and biomimetic articulation to balance themselves and GPS technology for navigation. ©Bloomberg Kyle Laughlin, senior vice president for technology and R&D at Walt Disney Imagineering, stressed to the outlet that their goal “is not to do innovation or technology for technology’s sake, but always in service of the story.” He went on to specifically talk about bodies of water at Disney parks being a potentially untapped area, especially during certain times of the day. Laughlin expressed, “We look at this as a canvas where we could really bring new entertainment to life in a way that could be super powerful for our guests… It’s this great mix of water IP and underutilized spaces, so we are exploring what autonomous aquatic performers can do.” Discovery River at Animal Kingdom That talk about bodies of water got us thinking about the Discovery River Amphitheater at Animal Kingdom. The 5,000-seat structure was built in the mid-2010s initially for the Rivers of Light nighttime show, which was scheduled to premiere in 2016. However, that show was delayed, and The Jungle Book: Alive with Magic ran through most of 2016 instead. Rivers of Light finally debuted in 2017 and ran with issues until 2019, when it was retooled into Rivers of Light: We Are One. That show ran until the pandemic closure in 2020 and never reopened. Rivers of Light: We Are One In October of 2021, KiteTails opened in the theater space. The new daytime show featured large balloons themed to Disney characters that functioned like kites pulled along by jet skis, as well as in-theater performers. While the show did develop a cult following, most reactions were negative, exacerbated by a series of viral videos that showed the show’s kites “crashing” into empty sections of the bleachers. While Disney would claim these crashes were how the kites were supposed to land, the visuals definitely did not help the show’s reputation. KiteTails was eventually retooled into a walk-by experience in May of 2022, before being axed altogether in September of that year. The massive theater has sat empty since. KiteTails What if Disney’s new aquatic animatronics, like the aforementioned “ray-like robot,” and dolphins could be used in the area for a pyrotechnic-free afternoon or even an early evening show that could bring some life to this abandoned part of the park, and provide a major people-eating show to a park that will desperately need it, even after Tropical Americas is complete? The dolphins would certainly fit the park’s theme, as good Gramma Tala. The latter technology could also be used for an Avatar-themed creature instead, which, of course, could also fit in at Animal Kingdom. Discovery River Amphitheater The aquatic robots were just one of several potential projects Bloomberg reported on; they also spoke about a “hovering” food service droid that may debut at the D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event before arriving at Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland later this year. Howdy from Magic Kingdom! Churro time! Disney World decided to release three new menu items in Frontierland, so we’re donning our cowboy hats and boots to check out new chicken tenders, burgers, and CHURROS! First up, we’re heading to Golden Oak Outpost to grab the Hot Honey Chicken Strips for $12.99. These are served with marshmallow and candied pecan-topped sweet potato waffle fries! Hot Honey Chicken The chicken strips were so crunchy and full of hot honey flavor, and there was a great balance between sweet and spicy in each bite. The chicken tenders were well cooked, and this is an easy lunch we’ll definitely be picking up again. The sweet potato fries were giving us major nostalgia vibes with the marshmallows on top, and some of the hot honey from the bottom of the container added a little bit of heat to the fries. The pecans had a great, nutty taste, and while they might be too sweet for some, you can balance it out with the heat from the chicken. Loaded fries Then we headed to Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe for the Barbecue Bacon Cheeseburger for $16.19. This is made with Angus beef, American cheese, house-made bacon jam, and barbecue sauce served with fries. Barbecue Bacon Cheeseburger There was a similar burger at Pecos Bill before called the Double Barbecue Bacon Cheeseburger, which was two flame-broiled and all-beef patties topped with American cheese, bacon, and Coca-Cola cherry barbecue sauce. This one is back to one patty and has a house-made bacon jam instead of the Coca-Cola cherry barbecue sauce. Double Barbecue Bacon Cheeseburger Unfortunately, this burger wasn’t our absolute favorite because ours was a little overcooked. The bun was a little too crunchy, and the patty was a bit too chewy, but the bacon jam was really the shining star. It helps moisten the burger and is sweet and spicy and paired well with the cheese. We would recommend taking the top bun off and eating it with a knife and fork so you can get more of the flavor without the bun bogging it down, and we might ask for an additional side of jam in the future. Inside We also grabbed the Churro Loops from here, which are tossed in cinnamon-sugar and served with a house-made chocolate sauce and cost $7.49. Churro loops Now these were awesome! They might be some of the best churros we’ve had in Magic Kingdom in a while. They had a great crunch and cinnamon sugar flavor. The chocolate sauce tasted housemade and not like the traditional chocolate sauce you get with churros, but was more of a thick fudge, full of chocolate flavor. If you’re in a churro mood, we definitely recommend grabbing these because they were a hit for us! Chocolate! One of the most fun parts of visiting Disney World as an adult is the ability to “act like a kid” in certain ways, like riding attractions, meeting characters, and even eating. Kid’s Meal In fact, some adults will even order kid’s meals at the “Most Magical Place on Earth”, sometimes due to price, sometimes due to portion size, and sometimes because the option is just better! Grilled Salmon at Columbia Harbour House Let’s begin in Liberty Square at the iconic Columbia Harbour House. This quick-service location actually offers a couple of kid’s meal options — including the Grilled Shrimp Skewer — however, the top kid’s meal for adults is the Grilled Salmon. This dish, which is served with a choice of TWO sides and a small drink, costs $8.99 — a deal compared to the $15.79 Maple-Glazed Salmon on the regular menu. Grilled Salmon 9 Disney World Restaurants Just CHANGED Their Menus Cheeseburger at Cosmic Ray’s While there are a lot of burger options across the Magic Kingdom, our favorite for kids — and kids at heart, it would seem — is the Cheeseburger at Cosmic Ray’s in Tomorrowland. Served with a choice of two sides and a small drink, the $8.99 kid’s option is cheaper than the offerings on the traditional menu, but is still a great size. You Have One Day in Magic Kingdom: Here’s Where and When You’re Eating Green Chile Beef Nacho Bowl or Citrus-Chipotle Chicken Nacho Bowl at Pecos Bill Frontierland’s Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn offers several nacho variants on their menu, including two for “kids”: The Green Chile Beef Nacho Bowl and the Citrus-Chipotle Chicken Nacho Bowl. Each of these $9.29 bowls includes a choice of two sides and a small drink, and the portion sizes are ideal for anyone looking for a nacho fix without indulging in a full plate. We recently went to Disneyland Park and tried a brand-new DOLE Whip. Let’s just say, this may have been the first time we’ve had it this summer, but it definitely won’t be our last! Let’s try the HOA Aloha Float This is a Pineapple DOLE Whip with cucumber-lime agua fresca, chamoy, and candied kiwi. It was presented in a way that looked both cute and delicious. Hoa Aloha Float This exceeded all of our expectations! Starting with the candied kiwi, it was like a candied dry fruit texture. We honestly didn’t really taste the traditional kiwi flavor. It was just more like a candied flavor, which might be a win for some and a loss for others. The cucumber-lime agua fresca was very refreshing and so flavorful with the DOLE whip! The chamoy is an added flavor profile that really brings the flavors together. We seriously couldn’t recommend this enough, and think this is the Disneyland treat of the summer. We’re giving this a confident 5/5. This snack might be too much for those who love simple flavors, but it was perfect for us. This was amazing! We’ll admit that we’ve been really impressed with many of the events we’ve attended at LEGOLAND Florida. We had a blast celebrating all things soccer at LEGOLAND’s recent FIFA World Cup 2026 Experience. We had SO much fun at LEGOLAND’s Ninjago event. And we absolutely loved LEGOLAND’s Halloween Party. Let’s go to the LEGO Festival! Well, we recently got to attend ANOTHER fun LEGOLAND event, the LEGO Festival. This festival is currently running at LEGOLAND through August 16th and celebrates all things LEGO. So let’s take a look at what you can see, do, and eat at this family-friendly festival! The LEGO Festival is built just for kids, and this year includes new zones, as well as returning fan favorites in the Music, Creativity, and Chill Out play zones, including brick build activities, amazing LEGO models, live shows, and LEGO character meet and greets. This way for fun! When you enter the festival, you get a wristband and a map. If you collect a stamp on the map at each of the five zones, you get a free prize: a collectible poly bag and insider points! Here’s an idea of just how much you can see and do at the festival. It’s a LOT!!! You’ll have a jam-packed day if you attend the festival. So much to do! This year includes a brand new play zone, the LEGO Pokémon Play Zone. First, you select your LEGO Pokémon from a starting lineup: you can choose a Bulbasaur, Charmander, Eevee, Squirtle, and Pikachu. Pick your Pokémon Then you move to the next room to build a little sandwich to feed your Pokémon. Like us, Pokémon like to eat! Our sandwich After that, the Pokémon must train, and then they do battle against each other. Battle! You can also build your very own LEGO Poké Ball. You can build a Poké Ball The F1 Thrill Zone is also new to the festival this year. F1 Thrill Zone Here, you can take on the LEGO Formula 1 Brick Stop Challenge, where you have to race the clock for a pit stop change. There are six race cars, and the goal is to swap out parts really fast. LEGO Formula 1 Brick Stop Challenge We also saw a pinewood derby-like ramp with different variations where you build your own LEGO race car and drop it down the hill to race other players. Test your speed The Pit Lane Hype show is a fun drumming show using car parts you’ll want to be sure to check out. The kids LOVED it. You’ll also see some F1-related builds here that are pretty cool! LEGO F1 Car In the LEGO Festival Music Zone, you can watch a Battle of the Bands show. The show is really cute, and the kids were dancing a LOT, so you could tell they were enjoying it. The show is also very interactive, which the kids really responded to, as well. The two bands battle it out, then they work together, and then they unite. The Battle of the Bands begins! The Music Zone even includes a giant mosaic you can contribute to, but the weather wasn’t cooperating (Florida rain, y’all!), so it was closed. Kids loved this The LEGO Creative Zone lets you tap into your creativity to bring your creations to life. This might be one of our favorite zones because it’s in a huge air-conditioned room. Inside, you’ll find tables loaded with LEGO bricks. LEGO Creative Zone Then there are two big tables with these beautiful dioramas where kids can place their creations. There’s also a new Master Model Builder show. Diorama Need a break? Be sure to visit the LEGO Chill Out Zone, a peaceful plant-filled oasis with air conditioning and plenty of seating. Yes, we LOVED IT. Look at how CHILL it really is! LEGO Chill Out Zone Here, you can create your own LEGO flower or LEGO bug. We made a bug! Then, you can add it to a garden and see the LEGO Gardener build. We added ours, but it was gone later in the day. Maybe it flew off? Our bug! The Hopsy show is also fun — it’s basically a storytime show with a giant LEGO DUPLO red rabbit and her human friend. You can also meet Hopsy! Hopsy show On top of all that, you can also ride ALL the rides in LEGOLAND. Yep, there’s plenty to see and do. The best part, though, is that you get to attend the festival with just your regular LEGOLAND ticket. This festival, in particular, is great for younger kids, especially the ones who are too little for the bigger rides. Lost Kinigdom Adventure Let’s talk about the most important thing, though: the special LEGO Festival food and drinks. There is a special treat, the LEGO Minifigure Head Cookie, that’s available at LEGOLAND Coffee Co. It’s a cookie that you decorate yourself. You get the cookie and the icing to decorate it with in a little box that has instructions on how to make various minifigure faces. LEGO Minifigure Head Cookie Decorating the cookie was so much fun. The cookie itself, though, was a standard sugar cookie, and it was pretty hard. The icing was also not the greatest, but a kid is just not going to care about that. In fact, the minute we started decorating our cookie, we totally tapped into our inner child. Kids will love this, but adults were getting into it, too. Our cookie! You can also pick up the Lyrical Lemonade, which is a frozen mango lemonade topped with juicy strawberry boba and fresh diced mango. If you have a bit of a sweet tooth, this lemonade might be just the thing you need. However, it’s still light and refreshing and not sickeningly sweet. Lyrical Lemonade Overall, we really enjoyed LEGO Festival, and think it’s the perfect thing for families with little ones. We had a blast and were really surprised at just how much there was to do without even riding a single ride. It’s a great additional perk that you get just for buying a LEGOLAND Florida ticket. The material allowed the rain to slip right off, and between that and the lack of sleeves, we didn’t feel steamed or hot underneath. On top of that, the poncho was large enough that our backpack was able to fit underneath it comfortably, while still keeping the bag and our backs completely covered from the rain. If all that wasn’t enough, the poncho even comes with a waterproof storage bag, meaning we were able to quickly pack it up and throw it in our backpack as soon as the storm ended without worrying about anything in there getting wet. When we first saw these years ago, we weren’t convinced of their effectiveness, but we were WRONG! They keep our feet — and our tennis shoes — mostly nice and dry, even in the rain. We’d also advise sizing up to alleviate any discomfort from the zipper top.
