Hunger Games fans, THIS IS NOT A DRILL! The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping is getting a movie adaptation with a theatrical release on November 20th, 2026. The film already has some big names attached, like Glenn Close, Ralph Fiennes, Elle Fanning, Jesse Plemons, Mckenna Grace, and Maya Hawke, but the list is about to get even BIGGER! ©Lionsgate On Wednesday’s episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast, Jennifer Lawrence confirmed the rumors that she will return as Katniss Everdeen in Sunrise on the Reaping, along with Josh Hutcherson as Peeta Mellark and Woody Harrelson as Haymitch Abernathy. Book readers know that Suzanne Collins’ Sunrise on the Reaping novel ends with a flash-forward epilogue featuring Katniss, Peeta, and Haymitch, and the film is likely taking a page from the original. Your go-to Lightning Lane strategies might need to change in 2027! Expedition Everest Disney World’s Lightning Lanes are an add-on service booked through the My Disney Experience app that allows guests to bypass the standby lines for shorter “Lightning Lanes” at select attractions. There are plenty of popular strategies for snagging the top attractions and getting the most bang for your buck. But beware that some of those Lightning Lane tips might not work anymore for your 2027 trip! Here are some of the biggest changes to Disney World Lightning Lane strategies in 2027! Lightning Lanes Will Be Extra Important at Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios There are a few MAJOR additions opening in Disney World in 2027. In Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the brand-new land Pueblo Esperanza is set to debut in the former DinoLand, U.S.A. area. It’ll feature two signature attractions — an Encanto ride featuring the Madrigal family and a new Indiana Jones adventure ride — plus a carousel with tons of popular Disney characters. Model of Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent And over in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the Monsters, Inc.-themed land Monstropolis will open in phases beginning in 2027. The initial opening will include the “Welcome to Monstropolis Show,” while the opening timeline for the land’s new roller coaster has yet to be announced. We’re going to walk down this street one day! Disney hasn’t yet announced how the lines for the new rides will work when they first open. In other words, it’s possible they could have Lightning Lanes, use Virtual Queues, or be standby only. Casita attraction ride vehicle models BUT, even if none of the new rides offer Lightning Lanes when they first open, using Lightning Lanes at the other attractions around Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios will be even more helpful once the new lands debut, so you can save time throughout the park and give yourself plenty of time to explore the new lands! We love all of these Monstropolis details! We want PLENTY of time to take a deep dive into the details and atmosphere of Monstropolis and Pueblo Esperanza. And by using Lightning Lanes, we can still ride some of our other favorite attractions without sacrificing too much precious time soaking up everything the new lands have to offer! Learn More About the NEW Pueblo Esperanza Land Coming to Animal Kingdom! No More Single Rider Loophole for a Popular Ride A few of the rides around Disney World offer single rider lines for solo travelers or guests who are okay with splitting up their party. Cast Members use people from the single rider lines to fill open seats after loading parties from the regular line that would otherwise go empty. Single Rider Line at Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance The single rider line can often end up being a shorter wait than the standby line. It’s definitely not a foolproof strategy, and the wait time can vary A LOT based on how many other guests are using it and the luck of the draw with how many single riders are needed to fill seats that day. But even though it’s not a guaranteed time-saver, there have been times that we’ve gotten lucky and ended up with a 5-10 minute wait using single rider lines. Test Track Single Rider In fact, some people even skip making Lightning Lanes for the attractions that offer single rider lines, in the hope that they can get a similarly short wait using the single rider line instead. But if this is one of your go-to hacks, beware — one popular ride recently REMOVED its single rider line! Single Rider Line Animal Kingdom’s Expedition Everest recently eliminated its single rider line, so all guests without a Lightning Lane reservation will now need to wait in the standby line. If you used to skip making a Lightning Lane for this attraction because of the single rider line option, your strategy will need to change for your next trip! No more single rider line at Expedition Everest! The other single rider lines around Disney World at attractions like Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets and Test Track are still in place. But keep in mind that those are subject to change as well, so be careful about planning your entire Lightning Lane strategy around single rider availability! Don’t Sleep on This Magic Kingdom Attraction Magic Kingdom has the most attractions with Lightning Lanes of all the Disney World parks. With so many options, some of the rides might fall through the cracks, especially those in the “Tier 2” group, which are less in-demand. Lightning Lane at Mad Tea Party One of the Tier 2 Lightning Lane options at Magic Kingdom is Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, the laser-shooting attraction in Tomorrowland. And if this is one of the rides that you could take or leave in the past, you might want to rethink that! Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin reopened in 2026 after a pretty major refurbishment that was certainly not a “standard maintenance and fresh coat of paint” situation. The updated version of the ride is a total refresh, complete with new ride vehicles, digital screens, and updated gameplay! They look totally refreshed It’s a total upgrade in our book, especially if you’re a competitive player aiming for that coveted Galactic Hero status. While this might have been a “could take it or leave it” Lightning Lane in the past, it’s definitely worth snagging for one of the Tier 2 choices in 2027, especially if you haven’t had the chance to ride the updated version yet! Disney World is about to transform… and I could NOT be more excited! I’ve been visiting the “Most Magical Place on Earth” for just about 35 years; my favorite time of year — by far — is the holiday season. Granted, things can be crowded, but the decorations, ride overlays, and FOOD all make it more than worth it for me. Magic Kingdom Christmas Tree Suffice to say, I’m excited for the holiday takeover, which literally happens in part OVERNIGHT! Seriously, one of the resort’s most iconic decorations is literally installed while its home park is closed, appearing the next morning like magic. And it’s happening sooner than you may think! The Magic Kingdom’s massive Christmas tree — which makes its home right in the middle of Town Square — is literally installed overnight, and there’s a time-lapse video to prove it! But be warned: This doesn’t happen after Thanksgiving… This tree will be up to welcome guests on November 1st! It all starts when the last guest exits the park after the Halloween rendition of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. There will be THREE major events coming to the resort this holiday season! Jollywood Nights, which kicks off November 7th at Hollywood Studios and takes place from 7:30 PM to 12:30 AM on select nights through January 5th, offers the Disney Holidays in Hollywood and Nightmare Before Christmas shows, Disney characters sporting their Christmas best, including some rare sightings, the return of the Twilight Soirée at the Tip Top Club at the Tower of Terror, the Glisten! ice skating show, Jazzy Holidays at the Hollywood Brown Derby, decor and merchandise featuring Ollie the Gingerbread Man, and the Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM! nighttime spectacular. Jollywood Nights November 8th will see the 2026 debut of the ever-popular Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. As usual, the event will offer special presentations including Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration, Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade, Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks, Club Tinsel, photo opportunities with exclusive characters, festive treats, and tasty cookie and cocoa spots offering complimentary snacks and drinks to enjoy throughout the party! Plus, several Magic Kingdom attractions will offer special holiday overlays! Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade The 2026 International Festival of the Holidays launches on Black Friday, November 27th. One of the most beloved parts of the Festival of the Holidays is the Candlelight Processional. A longtime Disney tradition, the nightly event features celebrity narrators reading the Biblical Christmas story, joined by a 51-piece orchestra, the Voices of Liberty, and a choir of more than 150 Disney Cast Members and community singers. November’s Candlelight Processional readers include Jordan Fisher on the 27th and 28th, and Gary Sinise on the 29th and 30th. Candlelight Processional! There’s nothing more nostalgic than sitting in front of the TV with family and watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. With massive balloons and decades of different floats and performers, we look forward to it every year. It’s Tom Turkey! While you’re probably already tuning in for the new Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey balloon, it will be even more fun with Universal Orlando’s first-ever character balloon! Universal Orlando Resort is getting its first-ever Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade balloon this year, and it will feature the resort’s Christmas icon, Earl the Squirrel! Based on the concept art, Earl will appear in his red flannel trap hat and “I love acorns” sweater just like he does in the parks! But unlike his park appearances, he’s holding a massive blue Christmas light. ©Universal Orlando Resort “Inspired by the beloved tale of a scruffy little squirrel who chewed through the blue lights on Universal Studios Florida’s Christmas tree, Earl has grown into one of the destination’s most cherished holiday traditions and proudly carries his signature blue lightbulb as a tribute to his past,” the concept art reads. The Christmas tree at Universal Studios Florida “The lore of the lights is really what we latched onto. How do we bring his trusty lightbulb with him and create a new balloon?” said Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade creative director Brendan Kennedy to Entertainment Weekly. “It all starts with a sketch, which gets 3D modeled. We do a little bit of flight testing to make sure it can fly well. We wanted to make sure we got the character just right, but also that he could fly perfectly!” Earl may try to bum that free cup off of you! We’re so excited to see Earl’s new balloon during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on November 26th at 8:30 AM EST. To say hi to Earl the Squirrel in person, he meets daily at Universal Studios Florida and on weekends at Universal CityWalk from November 14th, 2026, through January 3rd, 2027. Each week, things are changing nearly constantly in Disney World, and since we’re in the parks nearly every day, it’s our job to keep an eye on them so you know what to expect. Cinderella Castle However, this also means there are tons of rumors that swirl around the parks each week. We caution you pretty often to be careful of what you believe, because not everything you read is true. Now, that’s not the case for our site — we bring you the news that IS true, or we’ll make things clear that it’s something we’re speculating, but we’ve gotta admit that there have been some interesting rumors flying around this past week, and more of them are true than you may realize! Cosmic Rewind Evacuation You may have heard some chatter about an evacuation of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in EPCOT, and we can confirm that the rumor is true! It’s not uncommon for rides to see an evacuation, but what was interesting about this one was that it all started with the preshow being down. We thought the ride itself was fine, even though we were being rerouted backstage to get to the ride vehicles. Part of the Cosmic Rewind queue However, things really changed when the ride not only started being evacuated, but the fire alarms went off. Cast Members began moving people out of the buildings QUICKLY — there was no lollygagging here. Everyone was safely moved outside, and guests were all told to move far away from the building, keeping the exit clear. A lot of people immediately headed to Guest Relations to see if they could be given a Lightning Lane to use on the ride in the future, and many experience redemptions were given out. Evacuated crowds It just so happened that we were in the right place at the right time to catch this happening and be part of it, but it serves as a good reminder that when things like this happen, it’s important to listen to Cast Members to ensure everyone is safe. We Got Evacuated from EPCOT’s Most Popular Ride. Here’s What It Was Like Disneyland in Ohio? You may have also heard a rumor earlier this week about a Disneyland park coming to Ohio. This all began when an article and corresponding social media video began circulating that claimed Disney was building a new park in the state, which would include thirty resorts, 100 pickleball courts, and an entire Marvel-themed park. People began speculating whether it was true, but we can report that this rumor is entirely false. New York Skyline in Disneyland Paris Hotel New York The original news story was posted on a satirical news site, which means they’re known for posting articles that are deliberately untrue. Disney has announced no plans to build a theme park in Cincinnati or anywhere else in Ohio, and currently the company’s only new project in development is Disney Abu Dhabi. Again — always check your sources before believing news! Disneyland in Ohio? The Truth Behind the Latest Rumor Leaving The Autograph Books Behind We spotted a popular reel on social media this week of someone getting their pair of black ears signed by Disney characters throughout the parks, and we saw that it brought up some questions from people asking if characters signing items other than autograph books are allowed. The answer is yes! Character Autographs on a Photo Mat We’ve personally had a photo mat signed, as well as water bottles. There are a number of different items characters can autograph for you, as long as it’s not on someone’s actual body, something too small, or something that’s too flimsy for a character to hold. An autograph book is a safe bet, for sure, but we also love the idea of them signing something that you’ll be able to look at every day, wear in the parks, or use! So cute! It’s a trend that we think is super cute, and while not everything will be able to be signed, the possibilities are wide open for what you can use to make those memories! Is a NEW Character Meet-and-Greet Trend Taking Over the Disney World Parks? We’ll continue to keep you updated on all the latest Disney news, so stay tuned to DFB! Happy Halloween, everyone! Now, it’s no secret that we’ve been celebrating Halloween since August, when the first Halloween decorations went up in Magic Kingdom and when we attended the first Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party of the year. But the ACTUAL date is coming up this weekend, and well, we have big plans. Gideon’s Bakehouse First, we’re going to enjoy some of those special fall and Halloween snacks that will be going away soon. But we’re also running to Disney Springs for two Halloween snacks that are only available this weekend. We’ve been so excited about the opening of Six Ravens, a new quick service restaurant in Disney Springs that’s owned by the same folks who own Gideon’s Bakehouse. Now, the restaurant is already known for its Coffyns, its own style of hand pies. With a name like that, you KNOW this dining spot is embracing the spooky spirit, right? Just when we thought travel couldn’t get any more expensive, we got this news from Frontier Airlines! Frontier Plane at the Orlando Airport Why does everyone love Frontier Airlines? Well, it’s because its the country’s largest budget airline. That being said, even they’re not safe for massive price jumps during this time. News just dropped about a massive spike in fares, and we’re here to give you the update. According to KTLA 5, Frontier Airlines just revealed in its third quarter that its fares jumped 71%! The spike has skyrocketed because of soaring jet fuel costs. “The carrier’s fare revenue averaged almost $68 per passenger in that quarter, compared with about $40 a year earlier. Then you tack on fees for baggage and seating and other services, and suddenly total revenue per passenger was up 30% to $138.” Flying With the holiday season just around the corner, we’re sure travel plans are starting to be booked and finalized. However, with these flight prices, even for a lower-budget airline like Frontier, we’re sure it’s been more difficult to plan than in previous years. Especially considering that prices increase around Thanksgiving and Christmas anyway. Frontier All that being said, there is a way for you to save on family trips if you’re flying Frontier, because the airline is letting kids fly free on select flights! It’s the Kids Fly Free promotion where Frontier allows one child under 15 years to fly free for every adult fare purchased. That means your tweens and young teens would count, since kids are considered 14 and younger for the offer. ©Frontier Airlines The offer is valid for travel on Tuesdays or Wednesdays, through the end of Frontier’s scheduled service. That being said, there are some blackout dates, including: October 13th, 2026 November 24th–25th, 2026 December 22nd–23rd, 2026 December 29th–30th, 2026 February 16th, 2027 March 30th–31th, 2027 So Thanksgiving and the holiday weeks are out, which makes sense. Midweek travel in the fall, early December, and much of the spring is all available. ©Frontier Airlines If you’re looking to book, the process is pretty simple: Search for flights on flyfrontier.com. The offer isn’t available through third-party booking sites or the app. Include the kids in your search. If you don’t, you won’t see the offer. Look for the Kids Fly Free logo under the Discount Den price on qualifying flights. Complete your booking. The discount won’t appear until you reach the payment step. There are a LOT more details that you need to know about, which we lay out all here! Frontier Airlines The agents at Small World Vacations know how to save money on your Disney Vacation! As the sun dipped toward the ocean at Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa, 10-year-old Alex stood on the beach with his family. For Alex — a heart transplant recipient from Texas — the moment was more than a beautiful end to the day. It marked the beginning of Aulani Wish Week and, for his family, the start of a hopeful new chapter. “When I was on the beach watching my family, I was reminded of every moment we fought to be here,” said Alex’s mom, Karen. “It felt like the closing of a chapter. We don’t always have to be surviving — we get to thrive. That’s this gift.” Alex (center) and his family enjoying the beach at Aulani Resort Alex and his family were among 28 wish children and their families from across the country brought together earlier this month by Make-A-Wish Hawaii for Aulani Wish Week. The gathering marked the tenth group wish event since Make-A-Wish Hawaii and Aulani Resort launched Aulani Wish Week in October 2023. These events build on the longstanding relationship between Make-A-Wish Hawaii and Aulani Resort to create meaningful experiences for wish children and their families. Since opening in 2011, Aulani Resort has helped grant more than 2,000 wishes, welcoming families every week of the year. Across the company, Disney is the world’s largest wish granter, helping fulfill approximately one wish every hour. Throughout Aulani Wish Week, families made memories with favorite Aulani Resort experiences: splashing in the pools, snorkeling at Rainbow Reef, meeting Mickey and his friends, learning hula, and enjoying Hawaiian music, song, story and dance at KA WA‘A, a Lū‘au. October Wish Weeks also feature extra magic with Halloween fun. Every child picks out a Halloween costume, gifted by Disney Consumer Products, and can show them off at Aunty and Uncle’s Backyard Jam-BOO-ree dance party at the end of the week. Yet the most lasting moments were often the ones that could not be planned — the friendships formed among children, siblings, and parents who understood one another’s journeys, and the comfort of knowing they were not alone. In those connections, families experienced the spirit of aloha: care, belonging, and a community they could carry home. Austin with Stitch and Angel For 7-year-old Austin from Florida, who loves Disney characters, Aulani Wish Week offered the joy of stepping into a place filled with friends, ‘ohana and new memories. For her parents, that shared understanding brought a rare sense of ease. “We’re seeing her make friends with others who have gone through the same thing, and I was able to connect with other moms who just get it,” said Austin’s mom, Crystal. “It feels so easy.” Max Eleven-year-old Max from California, who has kidney disease and loves to swim, found joy in Aulani Resort’s water activities — a chance to simply play, explore, and be a kid. “We love being able to be together as a family and enjoy Max in a good spot,” said Max’s dad, Jason. “We’re enjoying the moment, and this is one of those great moments.” Nairi (front) with her family Five-year-old Nairi from California wished to meet Moana at Aulani Wish Week because she says Moana is strong, just like her. Her wish came true when Moana herself stopped by for a surprise visit. Nairi’s face lit up as the wayfinder greeted her, turning an ordinary moment into an unforgettable island adventure. Her brother, Chris, who remained by her side throughout her cancer treatment, said one of his favorite parts of the week was simply seeing his sister smile — a reflection that captured the heart of the experience. For Alex, Austin, Max, Nairi, and every child and family who shared the week, the greatest gift was not only the experiences they had at Aulani Resort, but the aloha that surrounded them — the joy, connection, and hope to imagine all the chapters still waiting to be written. Here at Disney Food Blog, we’re theme park experts who travel often. But even as Orlando International Airport regulars, we can still get confused by some major changes MCO has been implementing recently! Orlando International Airport On top of stressful TSA lines and Gate Link construction, the Orlando International Airport is implementing another major change. Two popular airlines have switched terminals! Starting Thursday, October 29th, Allegiant and Sun Country Airlines will move from Terminal B to Terminal A. Sun Country will now fly out of Gates 1-29, and Allegiant will depart from Gates 30-59. This relocation is permanent, so it’ll remain for holiday and New Year’s travel. Allegiant Air If you’re flying with these airlines, you’ll find ticketing and check-in on Level 3 of Terminal A. This area houses check-in counters, self-service kiosks, and baggage drop services for Southwest, Frontier, Spirit, Virgin Atlantic, Avelo, and now Allegiant and Sun Country Airlines. Allegiant Air Check-In at Orlando Sanford Airport Baggage Claim for Allegiant and Sun Country Airlines can be found on Level 2 of Terminal A. Once you’re off your Allegiant or Sun Country flight, your bags can be picked up at baggage claim carousels 20 to 32 on Level 2. Orlando Airport baggage claim The Orlando International Airport said in its Facebook post that the move is “a reallocation of terminal and gate resources to better balance operations and maximize available space.” Currently, Terminal B is home to Alaska, Breeze, United, American, Air Canada, Volaris, WestJet, Viva Aerobus, Delta, LATAM, and Bahamasair. Only Frontier, Avelo, and Southwest depart from Terminal A after Spirit Airlines’ abrupt closure this summer. ©Orlando International Airport We’ll be sure to keep you updated on more Orlando International Airport news, so stay tuned to Disney Food Blog for more! If you’re driving to Disney World and using your car to get to the parks, it can be a little stressful at the end of the night trying to remember where you parked, especially if you didn’t write it down anywhere — those parking lots are BIG! No more forgetting where you parked! Luckily, there are a few ways to relieve your stress, but one of them is significantly better than the others, and it only takes three steps to do it. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Write Your Location Down Each parking lot has different areas to help make it easier for you to remember where your car is parked; however, there are a LOT of rows in each of these areas. Take, for example, EPCOT’s Crush parking area: There are over 15 rows in this one area alone, and these rows are LONG. After a long day, it can be extremely stressful trying to find your car in an area of hundreds of cars. An easy way to remember where you parked is to write it down somewhere — in your notes app, by sending a text message to someone, on your hand… I don’t care, just write it down! EPCOT Crush Parking Lot Take A Picture Of Your Row Another great way to remember is by taking a picture. There are signs either at the end or in the middle of your rows that show the area you parked in, as well as the row number you are in. There are also indicators painted at the end of each row with your area and row number. Pose in front of it as a reminder and a memory! Magic Kingdom Parking Lot Use The Car Locator On Your App The My Disney Experience app also has a solution for you! When you enter a Disney World parking lot, you’ll get a notification on your phone to allow the app to save your location via the Car Locator tool. This way, you don’t have to manually write it down or take a picture; it will do it for you! Disney World Parking Sign Arguably The Best Solution Is An AirTag ©Amazon Now, for the solution that is arguably significantly better than the others: An AirTag! This device is a tracker, so wherever it goes, you will be able to see it on your phone. So, if you place one in your car, you’ll be able to find your car easily in a parking lot FULL of cars! All it takes is three simple steps: Purchase the AirTag, set up the device to link to your phone, and place it in your car — yes, it’s THAT easy! You have the option of purchasing a pack of four or just one. And you’re able to replace the battery yourself if you see it getting low — no need to purchase new ones! view ON AMAZON And You Might Want To Get A Holder For Them ©Amazon Instead of having your AirTags loose, grab a keychain holder for them! The Mouse Ear Silicone AirTag Holders are a great option because they will keep your AirTag nice and secure while being on theme for your trip to the parks! These come in a pack of three with pink, black, and white as the colors of the holders. They feature a high-grade, durable material to fully protect your AirTag from scratches, drops, and everyday damage. view ON AMAZON But What If You Don’t Have An iPhone? ©Amazon DON’T FRET if you own an Android! There is a similar device that works just as well for you! These Dual System Air Trackers will do just the trick for finding your car in a sea full of them! And the set-up process is extremely smooth: Simply power on the tracker, open your phone’s native find network (Google Find Hub on Android), and pair instantly. The battery inside is also replaceable, so if you find it getting low, you can open the device and replace it yourself — no need to buy new trackers! view ON AMAZON We’re always on the hunt for the latest and greatest Disney souvenirs and essentials, so don’t forget to stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for more! By the time Connor arrived at EPCOT for his wish experience, the Disney Culinary team had been preparing for his arrival for months. They knew he loved food and dreamed of becoming a chef. So, together with Make-A-Wish and Connor’s family, the team began asking themselves an important question: How could they create an experience that felt uniquely Connor? The answer would eventually bring together our EPCOT cast members for a day filled with festival flavors, behind-the-scenes surprises, and time in the kitchen cooking up delicious bites. But first, the team had some planning to do. A Wish Designed with Connor in Mind The details started well before the first fried pickle spear. It began with a phone call 10 months earlier when Chef Eddie, the Culinary Director at EPCOT, first learned about Connor’s wish to have a food tasting tour with Disney Chefs at Walt Disney World. Connor lives with a neurological condition that may impact his ability to enjoy food later in life, so the Disney Culinary team wanted to create a meaningful experience for him and his family. And what better time to do a foodie event than during the 30th anniversary of EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival? With the October date confirmed, Chef Eddie began working backwards when building the plans for the day, all based on how he hoped Connor would feel throughout his experience. He pulled together his team for the wish, and they got to work preparing to create a memory for Connor that would stay with him and his family forever. As they learned more about Connor and his passion for food, ideas began taking shape, and they decided the Disney magic shouldn’t wait until he arrived in Florida. So, the Culinary team sent a few items to his hometown in Minnesota beforehand so they’d be all set for the special day. The items inside that celebratory box included World Showcase pavilion T-shirts for the whole family, a Disney Culinary crossbody bag, and a baseball cap signed by members of the team. There was also a collection of welcome cards from Food & Beverage locations across EPCOT offering a preview of just how many cast members were looking forward to his visit. Every small detail was taken into account before the family arrived, and now the special experience was coming to life. A Day Full of Culinary Adventures When the day finally arrived, everyone gathered in World Celebration Gardens to welcome Connor and his family for the start of an adventure-filled day! Hugs and handshakes exchanged; it was time for everyone, including EPCOT Vice President Matt Simon, Culinary Director Chef Eddie, Executive Chef Daniel, Chef de Cuisine Tony, Chef de Cuisine Amanda, and Chef Marco to head to the first Global Marketplace and let the culinary adventure commence. Connecting Through a Passion for Food The EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival was a natural place for the culinary team to connect with Connor over something they all shared: a love of food. Starting first at the Fry Basket, the team shared how this stop has become a guest favorite thanks to its famous Fry Flight. But you can’t talk about food without a taste test. So, the team grabbed a flight and brought it over to the Brew-Wing Lab at the Odyssey, where a table of food and beverage items were waiting for Connor and his family to dive into. Behind-the-scenes and within the kitchens, more food and beverage cast were preparing for Connor’s visit. Everyone walked through the event trail in advance and went through logistics for the main day, so they were ready to make it the most magical day possible. “As we walk from each marketplace, we’re reaching out to team members to let them know we’re on the way, so they can begin preparing everything for the family,” shared Chef Marco. That ensured extra surprises for Connor and his family and the chance for plenty of tasting. “We wanted to surprise his family with one of everything from the entire menu,” said Chef Tony. “Plus, for each item we’re explaining how the items were created and developed before the festival.” During the feast, Connor shared his love for the fried pickle spears (might have been his favorite overall!) and chatted with the Chefs about the inspiration behind the plates at this stop. It was a true family dining experience as everyone gathered together, ate festival favorites, and shared stories. With each stop along the group’s trail, more and more Food and Beverage cast members stepped out of their Global Marketplace locations to spend time with the family. There was even a visit from Senior Vice President of Operations, Jason Kirk, and Food and Beverage General Manager, Mike Driscoll, who were walking around EPCOT for the day to try the new marketplaces that opened earlier that month. After stopping at the four booths in the morning, the team had a surprise waiting in the kitchen. Welcoming a New Chef to the Team In a nearby kitchen, Connor encountered another culinary legend: Chef Goofy, who was excited to help with the next surprise for the day with the help of Chef Eddie. Together, they presented Connor with his own personalized Chef coat, officially welcoming him to the team. “It was my favorite part of the entire day,” said Jessica, Connor’s mom. “Seeing him in his very own Chef coat felt special because that’s what he hopes to do in the future.” Now, dressed for the job, Connor was going to get his own turn in the kitchen. Putting Connor’s Chef Coat to Work At Connections Café & Eatery, Connor moved from tasting to creating within one of our kitchen pods, first cooking pizza alongside Chef Joey before working on pastries with Chef Amanda. The Magic Goes Both Ways After saying goodbye to his new culinary teammates, Connor and his family continued wrapping up the day at Space 220 for dinner with a few surprise desserts waiting for them from the team. But Connor wasn’t the only one leaving with memories to last a lifetime. For the cast members who planned his visit, cooked alongside him, and gathered around the table with his family, this was a memory they’ll take with them forever. They welcomed Connor into their kitchen, pulled up a chair, and made memories together. That might have been the best thing anyone cooked up all day. The Impact of a Wish For more than 45 years, Disney and Make-A-Wish have worked together to create magical wish experiences. They build hope, lift spirits, and offer new, hopeful memories for the whole family. Disney is the largest wish granter for Make-A-Wish, granting a Disney wish every hour of every day. Wish kid and fellow foodie, Connor, came to EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival hungry and ready to eat. Connor’s wish was to taste his way around Walt Disney World with Disney Chefs while learning more about the nostalgic food themes behind Disney dining. What Connor thought would be a tasting tour at EPCOT, ended up having a few extra surprises on the menu. Connor has a neurological condition that may impact his ability to enjoy food later in life, so the Disney Culinary team wanted to create an even more meaningful experience for him and his family. The special outing included stopping at food and beverage locations to try delectable offerings, learning the origin stories behind dishes, visiting a kitchen with one particularly Goofy chef, and going to Connections Café & Eatery to make a few tasty creations of his own. There was plenty on the menu, so let’s dig in. Did You Know? Disney is the world’s largest wish granter for Make-A-Wish. In fact, a Disney wish is granted every hour of every day. Welcoming Connor from Minnesota to Florida The magic began in Minnesota when Connor first heard from our chefs. Together, Chefs Eddie, Amanda, Tony, Daniel, and Marco put together a welcome package for his upcoming wish experience. And of course, no gift would be complete without some Disney merch featuring his favorite Disney character, Goofy. Other cast members from across the park also added their own touch with cards for Connor and his family, each sharing their excitement for his visit. But the surprises were just getting started. Once he arrived at EPCOT, Connor and his family began their adventure in World Celebration Gardens with the Disney chefs who would be joining them throughout the entire experience and a special visit from EPCOT Vice President Matt Simon to start the day. After a few introductions and photos near the Walt Disney statue, there was only one question left to answer: What are we eating first? Sharing a Taste of EPCOT First up, Connor was off to taste his way around the Global Marketplaces, making a stop at four different locations: The Fry Basket, Brew-Wing Lab at The Odyssey, Milled & Mulled, and The Wedge hosted by Dairy Does More. Each location had a feast of items waiting for him upon his arrival. More than that, the chefs were also with him at each marketplace letting him know the lore behind different offerings, how the marketplaces’ kitchens and grills operate, and some of their own favorite Food and Wine facts and stories. Connor's Picks Connor’s honorable mentions from the festival: Try the Fried Pickle Spears from Brew-Wing Lab and the Cannoli Milk Shake from The Wedge. What can we say; the man has good taste and these two offerings both got a thumbs up from him! After our food stroll, it was time to head somewhere guests don’t typically find on a theme park map: a backstage kitchen. A Special Surprise in the Kitchen Now, it wouldn’t be a true culinary experience without a visit to the kitchen. Stuffed from plates of food and beverages galore, Connor made his way to the backstage kitchen, where Chef Goofy was ready to greet the newest member of the Disney Culinary crew. And no chef is ready for the kitchen without the right attire. After a few photos with his favorite character, Connor was presented with his very own personalized green chef coat from Chef Eddie, giving him a chance to suit up alongside his new culinary friends. Cooking Up Memories Together After time with Chef Goofy, it was onto the next stop: Connections Café & Eatery. There, Connor rolled up his coat sleeves and became an honorary Disney Chef. Alongside Chef Joey, Connor participated in a make-your-own pizza experience, getting a hands-on look at the culinary process while preparing a classic pepperoni pizza. With his creation in the oven, he pivoted to the Liège Waffle with Chef Amanda to round out the experience with a sweet treat. For Disney chefs whose careers are rooted in creating memorable experiences through food, the opportunity to connect with Connor through their craft made the day especially meaningful. One Last Stop, 220 Miles Up With full hearts (and even fuller stomachs), Connor and his family had one last stop: Space 220 Restaurant for an out-of-this-world dinner to cap off an unforgettable day. From his first festival bite to making creations of his own, Connor got a taste of the passion behind Disney Culinary. “Our medical journey has been filled with many triggers, many things that have been sad, hard, and overwhelming,” said Jessica, Connor’s mom. “But it’s also been full of many glamorous things that bring me hope, that bring me strength and courage. Today was probably one of the best days.” And for the cast members who spent the day alongside him, sharing that passion made the day even sweeter. Thanks for cooking up some magic with us, Connor. Hollywood Studios has tons of beautiful holiday decorations, but the most notable are those stars lining Sunset Boulevard leading to the Tower of Terror! How classy are those? Nothing quite like the tower through the stars! It isn’t just Sunset that gets the pretty decorations, though! Echo Lake will transform for the holidays as well when Gertie the dinosaur dons her Santa Claus hat and the lake fills with gorgeous ornaments. This is the area where you’ll also find nods to classic holiday decorations with 1950s-inspired Santa decorations. These decorations haven’t appeared at the time of writing, but we’re hoping to spot them any day now. Echo Lake’s holiday decorations from 2024! Over in Toy Story Land, they also get in on the festive fun! They will eventually have larger-than-life Christmas sugar cookies, popcorn tinsel, and more. At the time of writing, those decorations haven’t hit the parks yet. Plus, this year Alien Swirling Saucers will even feature a holiday overlay! The soundtrack will be layered with holiday-themed music, and at night, Christmas-colored lights will light up the attraction. Disney also confirmed what new songs will be part of the overlay from November 4th, 2026 through January 6th, 2027, including Toyland, Deck the Halls, Swirling, Swirling Saucers, and Joy To The Swirl. ©Disney While there is plenty of fun to have during the day, if you’re looking for more holiday experiences, grab tickets to Jollywood Nights. This after-hours event gives you access to exclusive entertainment, food, and character meet-and-greets, and if you’ve been to Disney World a hundred times, it’s such a fun way to celebrate the holidays a little bit differently. It runs on select nights from November 7th to January 5th. Jollywood Nights Map from 2024 Hollywood Studios wasn’t the first spot to get holiday decorations this year! Yesterday, we also spotted Christmas decorations in Animal Kingdom. The classic lanterns appeared in Discovery Island, and those beautiful lanterns were already swaying in Asia. Picture this: You’ve been waiting in line for what feels like roughly one full Marvel movie. You’ve admired the pre-show. You’ve buckled in. You’ve whispered a nervous “here we go!” to your travel companion. And then, somewhere between “blast off” and “wow, this is the best ride in all of Disney World,” everything stops. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind The music fades. The lights come up. And a very calm Cast Member voice politely informs you that you will be walking out of this attraction. That’s pretty much what happened to us when we went to ride Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT on the evening of October 28th. Here’s what actually happened. Now, before you panic, let us say right away that it was fine! Totally fine! But because we know that Cosmic Rewind is one of the most popular attractions in all of Disney World, and because ride breakdowns do happen (even to the best of Disney’s best), we figured you might be wondering: what actually happens when your coaster-through-time-and-space turns into a surprise backstage tour? Evacuated crowds Here’s how the ordeal started: the Guardians of the Galaxy preshow was down. If you’ve ridden Cosmic Rewind before, you know the preshow is a big part of the magic, so this was our first sign that something was off. Rather than sending us through the usual path, Cast Members rerouted us backstage to get to the ride vehicles. Yes, we got a peek behind the curtain! No, we can’t tell you whether we saw Rocket Raccoon on his lunch break. (We looked.) We’ll be honest — at this point, we thought this was going to be the whole story. A little detour, a little extra walking, a fun “remember that time” anecdote for the group chat. Reader, we were wrong. Cast Members keeping everyone away from the building Next thing we knew, Guardians was being evacuated, and the fire alarms went off. This was not a leisurely stroll to the exit. Cast Members got everyone out of the building, and they did it with urgency. It was loud, it was a little chaotic, and it was definitely not the way we planned to spend our evening. But we want to give credit where it’s due: the Cast Members were clear, fast, and focused on one thing, which was getting every single guest outside safely. Our tip: If you ever find yourself in this situation, don’t stop to grab your phone for a photo, finish your snack, or look for your travel buddy. Move with the Cast Members, follow their directions, and sort out the rest once you’re outside. No one in line Once we were outside, Cast Members directed guests away from the building, keeping the area around the exit clear. This is standard for an evacuation, and it’s what you’d expect, but it’s a good reminder that you won’t be able to hang around the entrance waiting for the ride to reopen. Not to mention that the lines at Guest Relations were long. Lots of guests headed straight there to ask about experience redemptions and to get new Lightning Lane selections for Cosmic Rewind. Considering how hard it is to snag a Lightning Lane for this ride in the first place, we completely understand the impulse! Guest Relations line If you’re thinking about heading to Guest Relations after a ride closure, go in knowing there may be a crowd, especially if the evacuation happened at a busy time of day. Be patient, be kind (the Cast Members are dealing with a lot of stressed-out guests at once), and have your Lightning Lane or reservation details handy. Lots of Lightning Lane experience redemptions were given out! The good news is that Cosmic Rewind was back up and running by around 8:30 PM, with no issues. Even better, the preshows were playing again, which meant the full experience was restored. We had to be patient! While this type of evacuation isn’t common, it does happen. Here’s a quick recap of what to remember if you’re ever in this situation: Follow Cast Member instructions immediately. They’re the experts. Don’t linger near the building. You’ll be directed away, so go with the flow. Be prepared for lines at Guest Relations if you want a redemption or a new Lightning Lane. Check back later. Our ride reopened the same night, so don’t give up on it! The ride was back up and running later! We’ll be on the lookout for even more Disney updates you need to know about. Sir Patrick Stewart, known for his iconic roles in the Star Trek and X-Men franchises, has died at 86. ©CBS Broadcasting Deadline has reported that Stewart died on Wednesday, October 28th, at his home in Los Angeles following “a brief and poignant journey with Alzheimer’s disease and Lewy body dementia.” Longtime spokesperson Kelly Bush Novak announced the news. “He has been held in the warm embrace of family and friends, surrounded by live music, prayer, tears, laughter and the kind of profound emotion that only he could inspire after a lifetime of devotion to us all,” Bush Novak wrote. “We will forever cherish the peaceful ease and reflection on his face, an enduring reminder of his invincible grace.” ©Gage Skidmore When Stewart was cast as Captain of the U.S.S. Enterprise in Star Trek: The Next Generation in the 1980s, he was unfamiliar in America but had decades of classical theater work in England with the Royal Shakespeare Company. Stewart reportedly won over Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry and signed a long-term contract to play Capt. Jean-Luc Picard, despite thinking there was no way the show would last beyond one season. He was also well-known for his role in the X-Men franchise, an adaptation of the Marvel comic books. He worked alongside longtime friend Ian McKellen, who played opposite him as the villain, Magneto, and appeared as Charles Xavier in eight total films: X2: X-Men United (2003), X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014), and Logan (2017), along with having cameos in X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009), The Wolverine (2013) and Avengers: Doomsday (2026). ©Marvel Stewart was born on July 13th, 1940, in Mirfield, Yorkshire, England, to Alfred and Gladys Stewart. At 18, he won a scholarship to Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, and at 26, he became a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company, where he spent the majority of the 1960s. He received Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for playing Captain Ahab in the 1998 miniseries Moby and for his work as King Henry II in The Lion in Winter. ©Gage Skidmore His roles certainly didn’t stop there, as Stewart had quite a long filmography over his many years as an actor. “Like me, Jean-Luc has lived an unusual life that has taken him far beyond the bounds of normal human experience,” Stewart wrote in his 2023 memoir, Making It So. “But he is also someone who has remained true to his earthbound roots, for they are what gave him his identity. In the end, he feels the call of home, as do I.” ©Marvel He was married three times, first to theater choreographer Sheila Falconer in 1966, with whom he had two children — Daniel and Sophia. He later married Star Trek producer Wendy Neuss, and in 2013, he married jazz musician Sunny Ozell in a ceremony officiated by McKellen. Our thoughts are with Patrick Stewart’s friends and family during this difficult time. View the full article

Animal Kingdom might not be your top holiday park at Disney World, but once you meet the Merry Menagerie, you’ll head back every year. These friendly, winter-themed puppets hang out at the front of the park and bring holiday cheer, but Animal Kingdom also has beautiful Christmas decorations you won’t want to miss. Holiday decorations are up! While Disney World doesn’t put up all the decorations overnight, you can still enjoy plenty of Christmas magic, from Christmas trees and wreaths to lights and more. Animal Kingdom even has more holiday decor than you might think, and we just got our first look at this year’s trimmings! It’s tiiiiiiime! This year, the holiday season officially runs from November 13th to January 6th, but Disney has slowly started installing holiday decorations throughout the park. On Discovery Island, you’ll find these gorgeous animal lanterns that we look forward to seeing every year. Gorgeous lanterns Animal Kingdom is the only park without an after-hours Christmas event or a massive festival, but you shouldn’t skip it. The Merry Menagerie is worth a visit on its own, and you will get the cutest photos ever. All the puppets have names and personalities, and a few different animals rotate through. It’s one of our favorite parks at the holidays for a reason! Such an underrated park for decor While there aren’t a ton of decorations around Animal Kingdom just yet, this marks the first sign that the rest of the decor is on its way. If you look at the top of Island Mercantile and Discovery Island Trading Company, you’ll see all of the animal lanterns in all their glory. They’re super pretty at night when the sun goes down, too! Island Mercantile And, this year, something new is coming to Animal Kingdom for the holidays! Santa’s Holiday Grove is the new Santa Claus meet-and-greet location at Animal Kingdom for 2026. Located across from Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond!’s Theater in the Wild, this new trail features intermittent snow flurries, specialty food and beverage items, a seasonal soundtrack, and a meeting with Santa Claus himself! Stay tuned for our full coverage of this new holiday experience. More holiday decor The usual Mickey and Minnie meet-and-greet at Adventurer’s Outpost will feature a holiday overlay as well, with the duo decked out in holiday attire. Of course, a Disney PhotoPass photographer will be on hand to capture holiday memories. We love these lanterns We’re sharing everything for the holidays at Disney World, so make sure you keep following along. After a month of closure, this popular Magic Kingdom attraction has reopened, and a full day early! Train Station The Walt Disney World Railroad closed on September 28th, and for a month we had to patiently wait for the refurbishment to finish. While the Disney World calendar showed the attraction reopening on October 30th, it ended up opening a day early. So, what changes did we notice? We went to Magic Kingdom to see if the refurbishment brought any changes, and we wish we could tell you something cool, but we didn’t actually see any changes with the station itself. It looks like maybe the tracks were what they were working on, or possibly the bricks. Other than that, there were no changes that stood out to us. Magic Kingdom train station! The Walt Disney World Railroad has been around since Magic Kingdom’s opening day. It operates with historic steam locomotives and takes a round trip around Magic Kingdom, consisting of four locomotives with five passenger cars each. Each train can hold about 365 people. This attraction is iconic! It’s a great way to get around Magic Kingdom, especially when your feet are tired, and you just need a break from the hustle and bustle. The train stops at three stations — Main Street, U.S.A., Frontierland, and Fantasyland. You can normally take a full loop around Magic Kingdom, but because of the construction in Frontierland, the railroad is operating in shuttle mode only. So, the train goes from Main Street, U.S.A. to Fantasyland and back again (no Frontierland). We’re at the station We’re assuming things should go back to normal once the construction in Frontierland is complete, although Disney hasn’t given us any timeline on when Piston Peak will be finished. Even once Piston Peak is done, Disney hasn’t shared whether the railroad will go into Frontierland while Villains Land is being built. These are all things we’ll have to keep an eye out for. Frontierland construction We’re here to keep you up to date on all of the latest Disney news and updates as more construction takes place in Disney World. Okay, we know this is weird. We KNOW! But we need you to hang on a second and picture this: You ordered mobile from Cosmic Ray’s and sent your family to grab a table. You’re staying behind to grab the food, and all of a sudden you have a tray FULL of five different meals, sides, and drinks, and you see where your family is sitting — all the way outside through a swarm of people. How will you get the food and drinks over there without anything spilling? Disney World Resort Refillable Mug We’ve been in this exact situation a hundred times, so we don’t play around when we find something that makes our Disney World trip easier. This $13 piece of plastic is saving our sanity, and we think it will save yours too. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Meet the Fold Way Cup Carrier! ©Amazon This small piece of plastic holds up to four cups, including Disney World cups and resort mugs you’ll be lugging around all day. It folds up super small, so when you’re not using it, it adds little weight or takes up much space in your backpack. ©Amazon Disney doesn’t give out lids and straws very easily, so you’ll have to carry the cups through the restaurant and possibly the park for those who don’t drink fast enough without that extra precaution. The carrier makes it super easy to slide the cups in and carry around when you need it. Soda time! Is this really worth $13? We think so! Because it folds up so small, it’s not a huge space investment, and have you ever tried to carry trays of food and drinks? It’s hard! The last thing you want on your Disney World trip is to spill drinks all over yourself and be walking around with Coke on your pants all day. As someone who has tried to find a pair of pants in Magic Kingdom, I promise it’s not worth the risk. This is also great if you are in charge of filling up all of the reusable mugs at your hotel each morning. Snag this little gadget, and it will be so much easier to bring all the mugs back to your room once they’re full!! GRAB IT HERE! We’re in Disney World every single day, trying new tips and tricks so you can have the trip of a lifetime. Keep following Disney Food Blog for more! Construction seems to be the name of the game in Disney World because it’s pretty much EVERYWHERE. Not only are you likely to see signs of construction at your Disney World hotel, but you’ll also see construction in Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom as Disney adds new lands, expansions, and rides to those three parks. Even EPCOT will soon have construction. Big Blue and Beyond! Well, there’s no sign that the construction will end anytime soon. Disney World just filed four new permits, suggesting that more work will be done throughout the resort. So let’s get into these permits and see what they mean. Two of the four permits are for one of Disney World’s water parks, Typhoon Lagoon. Typhoon Lagoon recently closed for the season for its annual refurbishment, so we’re not entirely surprised to see some permits for the water park. The first permit is for general construction at Humunga Kowabunga. The contractor is Gulfcost Utility Constructors, who do infrastructure work like underground utility work, vacuum services, mechanical contracting, fire prevention, and more. So this definitely seems like some infrastructure maintenance. Typhoon Lagoon The second permit for Typhoon Lagoon is also for general construction on Crush n Gusher. The contractor is Harris Contracting. This company does painting, so it looks like some things at Typhoon Lagoon might be getting a fresh coat of paint, which is also general refurbishment stuff. Typhoon Lagoon Let’s talk about the other two permits. The first is for general construction at a parade storage building behind Magic Kingdom. This is likely for general refurbishment, too, as the contractor is Competitive Edge Partners & Consulting, a company that specializes in electrical services, painting, doors, and more. Magic Kingdom Finally, Disney also filed a permit for the theater that houses the Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond! show in Animal Kingdom. The permit is for general construction, and the contractor is MLC Theming, a contractor that works specifically in theming. Now, this doesn’t mean the theater is getting anything new, but it could mean some of the theming at the theater could be getting updated in some way. Finding Nemo: The Big Blue…and Beyond! We’ll keep an eye out for more permits in Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB for more.
