  2. It may only be August, but my sights are already set on the holiday season and all of the special moments that come with it – especially shopping. And what better way to get everyone into the same spirit than with the release of this year’s Disney and Macy’s collection? New York City has been the iconic backdrop of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade since the first one in 1924, and this collection again takes inspiration from the Big Apple when it comes to the design elements. But instead of focusing on city symbols, the artwork is a large-scale love letter to Disney’s history with Macy’s, and leverages character balloons from Parades past, including the brand-new Disney balloon announced today. The 2026 Parade is extra special, not only with the debut of a new Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey balloon, but because it is the 100th march. This collection beautifully captures the evolution of Disney characters through the eras, with every design packed full of nostalgic nods and commemorative charm that brings a century of Macy’s memories to life. Across the assortment, you’ll find apparel, accessories, and collectibles from beloved brands like Citizen, Crocs, Hallmark, Loungefly, and Swarovski. Select items are now available on macys.com, and the full collection is set to launch in select Macy’s stores nationwide later this fall. August 13, 2026: Kicking off the Disney and Macy’s Collection with Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey Before he takes to the skies with a new look on Thanksgiving Day, the new Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey balloon is making his magical merchandise debut, and I couldn’t be more excited to see this character appear across items like collectibles and cozy pajamas. My personal favorite piece is the Disney and Macy’s Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey Sweatshirt, which showcases a heartwarming history of Mickey Mouse through the decades. From his debut in 1934 to his newest adventure as Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey in the 2026 parade, this artwork is an astonishing snapshot of his soaring story. The gray base color gives the sweatshirt an almost retro feel, with bright pops of red, blue, and yellow throughout the design. And you can even get a matching ear headband to complete the look, showing a sweet side-by-side comparison of Mickey Mouse’s presence in the parade over the years! This black Adult Sweatshirt is a subtle way of showing off your excitement for Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey’s Parade debut. Tucked in the top corner, the shiny gold Macy’s 100th Parade logo accompanies the character artwork, with some small sparkles. There’s also a Toddler and Little Kids T-shirt (which coordinates with the adult version) calling your little one’s name! The Satin Sleep Sets for men and women are a dreamy dark color that brings Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey’s spellbinding spirit to this sleepy set. You can see the character printed across the fabric or nestled on the front pocket, depending on which style you select. And the silky texture is sure to help you sleep extra tight, maybe even with visions of dancing broomsticks and a special star-studded hat. For the tiniest tots on your shopping list, the Toddler and Little Kids Set Sleep Set puts the new Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey balloon front and center, with a matching top and bottoms that will send your little ones directly off to dreamland. And the final finishing touch? The Toddler and Little Kids Plush Robe, which comes in a lovely light blue color with the same Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey balloon artwork, and even some magical Mickey Mouse ears attached to the hood. The fun doesn’t have to stop at nighttime, and these pajamas will keep the Parade party going for the whole gang! The first pair of Mickey Mouse ear headbands that we can reveal from this assortment is the Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey Ear Headband, a treat for those wanting to really lean into that enchanting aesthetic, with sparkling stars, the breathtaking new balloon, and iconic blue hat positioned in the center. And now let’s talk about one of my favorite things – bags! If you love a Loungefly Mini Backpack, you’ll be pleased to have multiple characters to pick from, including Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey. You can also get a mini backpack bag charm to attach – the dream if you can’t decide on only one character to represent, so stay tuned for the full collection. Thanksgiving is a time to stop and appreciate the things that bring us together and spark joy, and writing those things down is a great way to be extra mindful. Keep your gratitude top of mind with the majestic velvet Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey Journal, a commemorative collectible that has the Macy’s 100th Parade logo on the spine. For the extra imaginative little ones, the Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey Kids Dress Up Set, Kids Play Tent, or Fantasma Magic Set will have them feeling just like this magical (and mischievous) mouse. The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade has been a sacred, sentimental tradition in my household for my entire life, and I know the same can be said for many others who grew up watching the festivities on TV (or even live in the streets of NYC). Now, fans can honor the Parade’s milestone anniversary with a collection inspired by the characters that have truly helped make the event so memorable across generations, while looking to the future. Keep checking back here on Disney Parks Blog as we prepare to reveal the rest of the product assortment (I promise it’s worth the wait) in addition to more holiday product announcements over the next few months. And if you’re in Anaheim for D23 Day at Disneyland Resort, be sure to stop by the Downtown Disney District for one day only to see the new Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey balloon inflated for the first time, and even experience a dazzling display of select items from the Disney and Macy’s collection. 4. For many Americans, The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade has long marked the official start of the holiday season, giving those across the country their cue to start decking the halls, listening to holiday tunes, and shopping for the perfect presents. And this year in 2026, the storied spectacle that has been seen by generations is celebrating 100 years of bringing jolly cheer and jubilant entertainment to millions of viewers, both on screen and in the streets of Manhattan. Since the first parade in 1924, then called The Macy’s Christmas Parade, Disney has joined in on the festivities with floats, character appearances, and of course, larger-than-life balloons that soar across the New York City skyline. Mickey Mouse and plenty of other characters have become a cherished component of this tradition, and I’m so excited to see what’s in store this November. As we count down the days to this historic moment, we’ll be sharing exciting updates right here on Disney Parks Blog. Stay tuned for more details about our balloons and floats that will be part of the celebration, festive merchandise collections, glimpses into Disney’s Parade legacy, and plenty of other wonderful ways to get into the holiday spirit (as early as you want, we never judge). August 13, 2026: Disney Unveils New Sorcerer Mickey Mouse Balloon Debuting in this Year’s Parade, plus a New Macy’s Merchandise Collection Guests attending D23 Day at Disneyland Resort were surprised by a spellbinding sight when entering the Downtown Disney District today, with the spectacular reveal of Disney’s newest balloon joining the 100th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade lineup this year. The Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey Balloon will make its debut in November’s Parade, marking the 100th march down the iconic NYC route, which begins on the picturesque Upper West Side. Disney’s history with the parade dates back to 1934, when Mickey Mouse first took flight in balloon form. And just for today, the newest balloon was inflated for the first time right here in the Downtown Disney District at the Disneyland Resort, spreading festive cheer and kicking off the countdown to the holiday season. Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey Takes to the Skies Mickey Mouse has existed in so many unforgettable forms, and we spoke to Disney Consumer Products Sr. Manager, Brand Commercialization Joseph Titizian about why this Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey version seemed like the best way to commemorate 100 years of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, of which Disney has participated in 90. “When we had to select a character to appear in the 100th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, there was only one choice: the most iconic character in the world, Mickey Mouse.” revealed Joseph. “And Mickey Mouse’s most iconic role is that of the Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey, so we wanted to bring his joy, optimism, imagination, and wonder to make this 100th parade even more magical.” It feels especially fitting, as D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event presented by Visa is just one day away, and Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey seems to serve as the symbol of this beloved biennial affair. Even for those who may not have seen Disney’s Fantasia, which is where the character first appears, Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey is no stranger to Disney Parks. He appears as the star of the epic nighttime spectacular, Fantasmic! and can be found greeting guests at Red Carpet Dreams in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. I’ve watched the Parade on TV every year with my family for as long as I can remember, and even attended once in person during my time living in NYC, but getting the chance to see this magnificent balloon up close felt like crossing a once-in-a-lifetime item off my bucket list. Fans oohed and aahed over the towering, vibrant Mickey Mouse, which is beautifully detailed and actually hand-painted, so it truly feels like a piece of art. “The balloon process is a really unique and special one, and it’s very specific to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.” shared Parade Executive Producer Will Coss. “There’s a lot of art, there’s a lot of science, and ultimately, it creates that magical moment on Parade morning, but there’s months and months of prework that gets us a successful balloon at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.” New Disney and Macy’s Merchandise Collection The balloon brought that bustling buzz and electric energy of New York City to Anaheim, where I witnessed excitement and awe from every person who caught sight of Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey floating amongst the Southern California clouds. Throughout the day, those strolling by can stop for themed photo ops, magical giveaways, and the opportunity to see select merchandise from the new Disney and Macy’s collaboration, also launching today. Boasting over 100 pieces to pick from, the full product assortment takes fans on a journey through the decades, showcasing Mickey Mouse and other iconic Disney characters during different eras of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. With everything from pajamas and outerwear or matching sets, to ear headbands and even Loungefly backpacks, the collection captures the nostalgia of the Parade in a way that fits the whole family. To get us all into the holiday spirit, select items are available now on macys.com, with the full collection launching in select Macy’s stores nationwide later this fall. You can explore an overview of the first drop here on Disney Parks Blog, and I already know what I’ll be buying! 5. Since its opening nearly 45 years ago, EPCOT has been a beloved park for generations of Disney World fans. Whether it’s the park’s attractions, dining, or even drinking around the world, many guests have had the best times of their trip at the park. However, that’s not everyone. EPCOT Recently, we asked our readers on Facebook to tell us their “biggest park-day disaster” at EPCOT over the years, and two major stories stuck out to us. The first came from reader Claire Marie, who wrote about a less-than-ideal ride on Mission: Space. They wrote, “Going on Mission Space Orange. Rode it, couldn’t walk or see straight, somehow made it back to the resort, threw up, slept for 4 hours and then was fine.” Yeah, that doesn’t sound fun. Of course, stories like this have been common about Mission: Space since the simulator ride opened back in 2003. The attraction, which replaced the beloved-to-this-day Horizons, is often listed near the bottom of many fans’ rankings of all of Disney World’s attractions. Mission: Space Speaking of rides and attractions, reader Paul shared a story that may as well be subtitled “a Disney fan’s worst nightmare.” They shared, “Our party was the next in line to board Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, shortly after it opened. We were so excited to see this new attraction. Yep, it broke down, and they closed the ride. It was near the end of the day, and it didn’t reopen before the park closed. It was our only day in EPCOT. Some day we hope to get back to see this attraction. But now, all we can do is have some eggplant parmigiana and dream of the adventure!” Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure Imagine waiting through a long queue for a (comparatively) new, in-demand attraction, making it all the way to boarding, only for the ride to shut down for the day? We know going in that there’s always a chance that could happen with any attraction, but it’s still brutal. Sounds like Paul has the right attitude, though! Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure Beyond these two ride tales, however, we received plenty of other responses detailing issues with weather, meals, health issues, and even reader Donnie’s somewhat amazingly nonchalant phrasing of “I took firework debris to the eye; it didn’t ruin anything, but it was crazy.” Luminous in EPCOT Crazy indeed. 7. Good day, explorers and adventurers! With D23 coming up from August 14th to 16th, the Society of Explorers and Adventurers (S.E.A.) is now ready to explore a new frontier: the Imagineering Pavilion. While everyone has been getting ready for the summer, S.E.A. has been busy working with Walt Disney Imagineering for a special appearance at D23. Hold on, what is the S.E.A.? For the uninitiated, the Society of Explorers and Adventurers is devoted to, well, adventure and exploration! S.E.A.’s mission is to reveal truths, right wrongs, and live to tell the tale. You might’ve heard of their original motto, “Exploratio continua” in Latin or “continued exploration” in English. In the modern day, that saying is coupled with “wonder, explore, and discover.” That also means the Society is always looking for the next blood-rushing, exciting adventure to embark on! From mounting expeditions into the unknown to chronicling the explorations of other adventurers, S.E.A. is proud to protect the artistic achievements of human society. Society members climbed the highest mountain peaks, rowed through the world’s longest rivers, and built countless imaginative inventions that expanded the organization’s ability to explore. With humble beginnings dating as far back as the 1500s, S.E.A. was founded by a distinguished body of mariners, scientists, inventors, and artists. The Society traces its origins back to the mythic Fortress Exploration; its earliest known headquarters. Here, early explorers exchanged information about daring adventures, new inventions, and shared their collective knowledge for innovation for all. Since then, S.E.A. remained a hub of ingenuity and discovery, passionately dedicated to exploring what is not yet understood. To accomplish this, members meticulously document their long history—from finding lost artifacts to retracing the steps of their adventurer alumni—and embark on modern expeditions to under-researched locations. Or, to put it simply: they identify, conserve, and curate the world’s unknowns around us. After all, a mystery is only the catalyst to adventure! Who makes up S.E.A.? Do the names of Mary Oceaneer, Dr. Albert Falls, or Lord Henry Mystic sound familiar? If you’ve heard of them, then you’ve almost certainly heard of the Society of Explorers and Adventurers. In keeping with the Society’s traditions, their modern-day members are more than adventurers. Members are academics, artists, athletes, and everyone in-between. In fact, most of their members are proud interdisciplinarians! For example, Imagineering is in contact with a particularly enthusiastic archivist, who takes care of S.E.A.’s massive collection of artifacts as a part-time historian, part-time curator, and full-time explorer. Or, for a historical example, Society member Camellia Falco was an avid aviator who invented her own devices to further humanity’s understanding of flight as well as embark on new adventures throughout the sky. In fact, traces of S.E.A. members can be found all over the world and across history. You might’ve seen Dr. Falls’ map of the world’s rivers or Lord Mystic’s manor of various historical curiosities. For eagle-eyed readers, you might’ve even spotted oars with their members’ names and notable expeditions engraved on them! At their core, all Society members possess natural curiosity and an unbreakable desire for adventure. Speaking of exploring new frontiers… What is S.E.A. doing at D23 this year? Excellent question! This summer, S.E.A. is collaborating with Walt Disney Imagineering to show the world more about the organization. In particular, S.E.A. wants to share more about the adventurers who demonstrate an insatiable curiosity for the world’s mysteries who make up their organization. While there’s no shortage of secrets across history and even in your everyday life, they might (emphasis on might!) discuss some enigmas which even eluded the Society. And keep this private, but S.E.A. has a new, well, “newly rediscovered” artifact ready for the presentation! For the past three months, an S.E.A. archivist has been cataloguing all the artifacts in the Society’s collection. They’ve re-discovered incredible pieces of S.E.A. history, such as intricate Greek amphoras from Lord Henry Mystic or “acquired” sarcophagi courtesy of Harrison Hightower III. One crate unearthed from the archives, unopened for at least a century, is making its way to D23. But, the surprise is…neither Imagineering or S.E.A. has any clue what’s inside! It’s just one of S.E.A.’s enigmas, like what the Voynich manuscript really says or what exact books were lost in the Burning of the Library of Alexandria. So, the Society is eager to reveal a piece of S.E.A. and share the spirit of discovery together with you! If you’re curious about what the artifact is, or you just want to learn more about S.E.A., then stop by the Society’s D23 presentation, “An Inside Look at the Society of Explorers and Adventurers,” on August 14th! If you can’t attend in-person, then don’t worry about it. Imagineering will be updating the Walt Disney Imagineering Instagram with every detail. Make sure to follow the Instagram account to get all new updates. From the Society of Explorers and Adventurers and Imagineering: we’re excited to explore something new with everyone! 12. A brand new ride recently soft-opened at Universal Studios Hollywood. Yes, the highly anticipated Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift roller coaster has already seen some riders, and it’s bringing a ton of thrill seekers to the park. Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift Not everyone is a fan of the ride, though. Some neighbors of Universal Studios Hollywood have been complaining about the roller coaster’s noise levels. Well, Universal Studios is finally addressing those noise complaints by adding something new to the ride. The noise isn’t necessarily coming from the ride itself. Videos posted to social show that the biggest problem with noise is coming from riders screaming while on the ride (and it’s a ride meant to make you scream), although the ride’s track is also creating noise. Neighbors have called it “extremely disruptive” to the surrounding communities and neighborhood. Everyone screams on this ride According to CBS News, Universal Studios Hollywood is installing two additional sound barriers near Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, which is still set to have its official opening later this year. Los Angeles City Councilmember Adrin Nazarian said that this is being done despite the fact that recent sound testing met the park’s sound requirements. However, the barriers should further reduce noise coming from the ride. A community meeting is also being planned in the near future to give residents a chance to hear directly from Universal about the ride. The ride’s entrance Universal has already outlined steps it’s taken to decrease noise, including installing 900 feet of sound walls, quieting the track with pea gravel, and having the coaster cars rotate so screams won’t always face the neighboring area. Universal has previously said that it welcomes feedback from the community, too, though. Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift We’ll keep an eye on the situation and keep you updated, so stay tuned to DFB for more. 14. When it comes to dining at Disney World, you’ve got a TON of options. Though most people only think about quick service restaurants and table service restaurants, in reality, there’s another type of restaurant that we feel is totally underrated. Who’s ready for a great meal? Lounges are some of our favorite spots in Disney World, and while we’re often tempted to keep them a secret so the crowds stay low, we know it’s our job to tell you about them all. We recently stopped by Dahlia Lounge at the Gran Destino Tower at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, which is one of our favorite lounges, to see if it still lands high on our list. Come along with us! Atmosphere Dahlia Lounge is an upscale rooftop lounge located next to the Tower’s Toledo — Tapas, Steak, & Seafood restaurant. It offers fantastic views of Disney World, and at night, you may even get a look at some nighttime spectaculars around the resort. Dahlia Lounge We absolutely love the coffered ceilings and dandelion chandeliers here, and the combination of surrealism and Spanish Modernism in its theming is unique in the best way. If you want to sit at the bar, you’ll get to grab a seat on the tufted leather bar stools and use the outlets, USB ports, and bag hooks on the marble countertop. These are stunning! The lighting in the lounge overall is one of our favorite aspects of dining here. The ambiance it creates, enhanced by the stunning spherical light fixtures, highlights gorgeous artwork practically everywhere you look. Don’t forget to look down, because the floor tiles feature patterns and optical illusions within a hexagonal design. Some of our favorite details on the walls are the photos of Salvador Dalí and Walt Disney, as well as prints of the Dahlia and the iconic bell from Destino, a Walt Disney Animation Studios short film released in 2003. It’s gorgeous in here! There are multiple different areas to dine in, all with various types of seating. You’ve got long couches, small tables and chairs, and an outdoor patio that offers truly unforgettable views. We love the different seating But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?! Menu The menu here is full of small bites and a large selection of various alcoholic beverages to enjoy. The lounge is usually open from 5 PM to midnight each day, so it’s a great way to snag a late-night bite if there’s space. Dahlia Lounge Menu You’ll find a list of wines, specialty cocktails, hot beverages with alcohol, specialty coffee and teas, as well as non-alcoholic beverages available on the drink menu. When it comes to food, the menu is small, yet varied, consisting of options like Bocadillo, Shrimp Pil Pil, Warm Churros, the Serrano Manchego Burger, and more. Inside the menu And now, onto the main event — the food! Drinks To drink, we picked up the Espumoso Punch for $17.50. This is made with Fonseca Bin 27 Port, Combier Crème de Mûre Liqueur, Lime, Orange, Freixenet Blanc de Blancs Cava Brut, and Fresh Fruit. Espumoso Punch Despite the color, it’s very citrus-forward. The first sip hits you with a bright citrus flavor that reminded us of lemonade or limeade, as lime and orange are the most prominent flavors. We’re big fans! The berry liqueur and fresh berry garnish add to the subtle notes but let the citrus still shine. If you want an adventurous, sweet drink, this is perfect, because it’s a fruity, refreshing cocktail that’s easily drinkable and isn’t very strong. Eats First up, we grabbed the Chicken Wings for $15, which are Crispy Chicken Wings tossed in Harissa-Honey Glaze. Chicken Wings The glaze gives sweetness and a pretty strong kick that especially lingers in the aftertaste. The heat stays on the palate after each bite, but you get immediate sweetness the following bites, and we loved that the chicken was as juicy as it was. The sweet aspect of the glaze reminded us of a lightly caramelized brown sugar/honey flavor. The exterior is crisp and tough, and it’s pretty messy with the sticky glaze, but they do provide wet wipes before it arrives, so that’s a major win for Dahlia Lounge. If you’re someone who is open to spicier flavors, we think this will be a big hit for you. This is a great option! For our main entree, we grabbed the Serrano Manchego Burger for $17, which is Serrano Ham, Manchego, Sweet Pepper Relish, and Brioche Bun. Serrano Manchego Burger The beef patty is thick, juicy, and evenly cooked throughout with a hearty, savory flavor. The Manchego melts into the burger, adding a mild creaminess that blends with the ham and beef well. The Serrano ham adds savoriness and adds to the general richness of the burger. The sweet pepper relish contributes to the subtle sweetness but doesn’t overpower the burger, which we loved. Delicious! It adds tomato and pepper flavor and a bit of crunchy vegetable texture, and each topping seemed purposeful, and we loved that it was simple but added some additional exploratory flavors we enjoyed. The brioche bun is soft, light, and buttery with a fluffy interior that held the burger together well, and we also loved that the housemade potato chips on the side were crisp and crunchy with a salt/pepper blend with a slight kick of maybe Cajun seasoning. They were delicious, and we’d get them time and time again. We’d get it again in a heartbeat Finally, we grabbed the Warm Churros for $9.50, served with Chocolate Sauce. Warm Churros These had a crisp, crunchy exterior with a soft and fluffy interior, and each loop is evenly coated in cinnamon sugar, which adds sweetness and spice. The dough has a fresh flavor and stayed soft and fluffy inside, and while they weren’t warm by the time we got to them, we can only imagine how INCREDIBLE these are when you eat them as they come out to the table. Be sure to dip them in the chocolate sauce! The chocolate dipping sauce is smooth and runny, coating the churros well! It leaned more rich, like dark chocolate rather than milk chocolate, but did add extra sweetness on top of the cinnamon sugar that balanced out well. These are some of the best churros on property, that’s for sure — you won’t be disappointed! Nosh or Not This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if… You want to enjoy some of the stellar cuisine at Coronado Springs Resort. Over the past few years, Coronado Springs Resort has become a verifiable destination for foodies in Disney World. If you’re short on time, but would still love to partake in some terrific tapas and crafted cocktails, pull up a seat at Dahlia Lounge! You want to enjoy rooftop views… without an Advance Dining Reservation. Dahlia Lounge boasts a stunning indoor space with floor-to-ceiling windows AND outdoor seating! Time things right, and you might even catch a glimpse of the fireworks at EPCOT or Hollywood Studios. You’re on a date night at Toledo. If you’re heading to Toledo — Tapas, Steaks & Seafood for a special evening, you can easily visit Dahlia Lounge as well, as it’s situated just across the hall! Make some time for some pre- or -post-dinner drinks and keep it going. You should skip this Disney World spot if… You’re not willing to wait. Dahlia Lounge has a LOT going for it, and its reputation precedes itself. You may stroll in and find it relatively easy to find a seat during off hours… or you may have the complete opposite experience (especially on a weekend when a lot of guests are arriving at or getting ready to leave the Resort, OR it’s close to fireworks showtimes). Be prepared with a backup plan, like a visit to the lovely Barcelona Lounge downstairs. You’re an Early Bird instead of a Night Owl. Things don’t kick up at Dahlia Lounge until 5PM, and it typically stays open until midnight. You’d like a full meal. The bar bites at Dahlia Lounge are upscale tapas that you can certainly make a meal from. But be aware that, unlike several bars connected to Signature restaurants in Disney World Resort hotels, you cannot order from the full menu at Toledo’s here. Overall We love this spot, and it does indeed stand up to its reputation time and time again. This is a very non-rushed atmosphere, which we really appreciated, but the staff was incredibly kind and attentive without being overbearing. Cheers to a great meal! We love Marvel! Marvel has tons of fans excited for their upcoming movies, with a stacked lineup between Avengers: Doomsday, Avengers: Secret Wars, and Black Panther 3, but there’s one new movie that fans are just waiting for news on! Marvel announced they’re rebooting the X-Men back in 2023, and the upcoming film slated for a 2028 release will follow the group of superheroes in their youth. It was revealed in Spider-Man: Brand New Day that Stranger Things actress Sadie Sink will now portray Jean Grey in future MCU projects, including the upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars and X-Men. But what about the other four X-Men? ©Disney Deadline reported back in July that Emma Frost will be played by Samara Weaving of Ready or Not (2019). Frost is a telepathic Mutant who first appeared in X-Men comics in the 1980s and has evolved over the years, going from supervillain to a key member of the X-Men. Additionally, they reported that Kit Connor of Netflix’s Heartstopper will play Scott Summers, AKA X-Men captain Cyclops. ©Marvel But after all of these major announcements, we still don’t know who the remaining X-Men in the film will be. Rumors circulating online include the characters Beast, Iceman, and Angel are involved in the film, but Marvel hasn’t yet revealed which characters will appear or who will play them. And what’s a better time to announce the cast list of the highly anticipated movie than at the biggest Disney movie event of the year? 19. Disney World has already asked us to eat dinner inside a castle, board an elevator to a restaurant in space, and consume burgers while sitting in a fake convertible beneath a fake night sky. So I don’t think I’m being unreasonable when I ask Disney to let me eat breakfast with a tow truck. Art of Animation Cars Section Piston Peak National Park is currently under construction in Magic Kingdom, and the new Cars-themed area is shaping up to be one of the park’s most ambitious additions. Disney has shared concept art filled with towering mountains, rushing water, pine forests, geysers, and rustic buildings tucked into the landscape. It looks beautiful. It looks enormous. It also looks like it has room for the weirdest character restaurant Disney has ever attempted. A Cars character dining experience makes absolutely no logistical sense, which is exactly why Disney needs to make it happen. Welcome to Piston Peak Piston Peak National Park will be part of the massive Magic Kingdom expansion currently transforming Frontierland. Disney has confirmed that the area will include a visitor lodge, Ranger HQ, trails, and two Cars-themed attractions. One will be a rally race through rugged terrain, while the other will be designed for younger racers and families. ©Disney Disney has also explained that Piston Peak’s buildings will use “Parkitecture,” an architectural style intended to help structures blend into their natural surroundings. In other words, expect lots of timber, stone, oversized windows, and cozy national park lodge energy. The concept art gives us a look at a land filled with water features, mountain trails, trees, bridges, and several buildings that could house shops, queues, or other guest spaces. Disney has not announced a restaurant for Piston Peak, much less a character dining experience. The company’s official description still focuses on the visitor lodge, Ranger HQ, trails, and attractions. ©Disney So, yes, we are speculating. But speculation is half the fun of watching Disney World build something new. The other half is staring at blurry concept art until a suspiciously square building becomes a restaurant, lounge, gift shop, restroom, or all four depending on how much coffee we have consumed. And one of those Piston Peak buildings needs to become a Cars character meal. There Is One Tiny Problem Traditional character dining works because the characters can walk. Mickey can stroll over to your table. Cinderella can pause beside your chair. Winnie the Pooh can accidentally back into a server carrying six glasses of orange juice. Lightning McQueen cannot casually weave through a dining room. Ka-chow! He is a full-sized race car. Mater is a tow truck. Even if Disney could get them inside the restaurant, watching Mater make a 17-point turn between tables would add an entirely different kind of entertainment to breakfast. That is probably why a Cars character meal feels unlikely. Disney would need to completely rethink the usual character dining format rather than sending characters around the room for hugs, autographs, and photos. Tow Mater Fortunately, Disney has already built several experiences that offer pieces of the solution. We just need Imagineering to mash them together into one glorious automotive casserole. DFB Video: What I Wish I’d Known BEFORE Booking a Disney World Character Meal The Royal Table Method The simplest version would borrow the basic format used at Cinderella’s Royal Table. Guests dining inside Cinderella Castle currently meet Cinderella in the Grand Hall before heading upstairs to the banquet room. The character greeting is part of the experience, but Cinderella does not need to squeeze between every chair while guests are trying to cut into their breakfast. Cinderella at Cinderella’s Royal Table Piston Peak could do the same thing with Lightning McQueen and Mater. Imagine checking in at a rustic visitor lodge before entering a large vehicle bay. The space could look like a ranger station garage, with vintage posters, maps of Piston Peak, racing trophies, spare tires, and tools covering the walls. Lightning McQueen or Mater would be waiting inside for photos. Lightning McQueen Disney already operates a Cars character encounter at Disney California Adventure, where guests can usually meet either Lightning McQueen or Mater near the Cozy Cone Motel. These are full-scale Cars characters that can move, speak, and pose with guests, so this would not require Disney to invent an entirely new form of character interaction. Piston Peak display in Walt Disney Presents The Piston Peak restaurant could rotate which character appears throughout the day. Lightning might greet guests during breakfast, while Mater takes over for lunch. Cruz Ramirez, Sally, or another Cars character could appear during special meals or seasonal events. Once your family gets its photo, a Cast Member could direct you into the dining room. The cars would remain safely in their garage, and no tables would be flattened beneath Mater’s rear axle. Everyone wins. DFB Tips, Hints, Lists, and Videos for Planning the BEST Disney World Vacation Sci-Fi Dine-In Goes Camping The dining room itself could borrow from Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. At Sci-Fi Dine-In, many guests sit inside car-shaped booths facing a large movie screen. The restaurant creates the illusion of an outdoor drive-in theater, complete with a darkened soundstage, twinkling stars, movie clips, and servers dressed as car hops. Sci-Fi Now trade the 1950s drive-in for Piston Peak National Park. Families could sit inside rugged park vehicles, old racing cars, or ranger jeeps. The booths would not need to move, but they could include headlights, themed license plates, luggage strapped to the back, and other small details that make each vehicle feel different. Instead of facing one giant movie screen, guests could dine beside huge “windows” overlooking the wilderness. Sci-Fi One window might show a waterfall. Another could look toward a winding mountain road. Every few minutes, Lightning McQueen could race past. Mater might slowly roll backward through the scene while insisting he knows exactly where he is going. The entire room could feel like a campground at dusk, with lanterns hanging from timber beams and the sounds of rushing water outside. Disney could even shift the view from daytime to sunset as the meal progresses. Sci Fi Dine In could be inspiration. This would give families the fun of eating inside a car without creating a direct copy of Sci-Fi Dine-In. It would also fit Piston Peak’s national park setting far better than a traditional dining room filled with normal tables. Normal tables have had a good run. Put me in a ranger jeep and bring me some biscuits. NEW Look at Piston Peak Coming to Magic Kingdom The Animator’s Palate Approach Disney Cruise Line also has part of the answer. Animator’s Palate uses screens, animation, and character-driven entertainment to turn dinner into a show. The exact experience varies by ship, but the central idea is that the dining room itself changes and characters can appear throughout the meal without physically visiting every table. It’s Crush! “DUUUUUUDE…” A Piston Peak restaurant could surround diners with digital windows and screens disguised as national park maps, bulletin boards, or scenic overlooks. Cars characters could travel from screen to screen as though they were driving around the restaurant. Lightning could race across one wall, disappear behind a doorway, and reappear seconds later near another section of tables. Mater could stop beside individual families for short conversations. The technology could allow him to comment on birthday buttons, ask where guests are visiting from, or tell children that their pancakes look like spare tires. Lightning McQueen! Disney has already shown that screen-based characters can feel surprisingly personal. Giving the Cars cast access to an entire dining room would allow them to interact without requiring a fleet of actual vehicles to navigate the salad course. There could also be a loose story connecting the meal. Maybe Piston Peak is preparing for its annual wilderness rally. Guests have been invited to join the pit crew, but several racers keep interrupting dinner with updates from the trail. Lightning is determined to break a record. Mater has taken a shortcut that was very clearly marked “Do Not Enter.” A rookie racer needs help choosing the right route. Get ready to race! It does not need to become a loud stage show every five minutes. Disney should resist the urge to turn lunch into a toddler nightclub. A handful of well-timed character appearances would be enough to make the meal feel special without requiring everyone to stop eating whenever a tire rolls onto a screen. The One Disney World Character Meal That’s Practically Perfect, According to Just About Everyone Put It All Together The best version would combine all three ideas. Guests would begin with a physical Cars character greeting inside the Piston Peak garage. Then they would enter a national park dining room filled with vehicle-shaped booths. During the meal, animated characters would travel across screens and digital windows, occasionally interacting with different sections of the restaurant. Cruz Ramirez That would make it a genuine character experience without trying to force a traditional meet-and-greet format onto characters with headlights. It would also solve another character dining problem. At most meals, families spend a surprising amount of time watching the room and wondering whether Mickey has forgotten them. A Cars meal with scheduled entertainment would let everyone relax. You would get the major character photo before sitting down, then enjoy additional interactions while you eat. No character traffic jam. No missed hugs. No Mater attempting to reverse through the dessert station. 6 Unspoken Rules for Character Dining in Disney World The Pit Crew Breakfast The food should match the restaurant without becoming an exhausting parade of car puns. A little menu wordplay is fun. Forty-seven references to fuel, oil, lug nuts, and exhaust pipes would make us lose our appetite surprisingly quickly. The most obvious option would be a family-style character breakfast called the Pit Crew Breakfast. Flo’s V8 Cafe Tables could receive skillets filled with scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage, biscuits, and Mickey-shaped waffles. Disney could add tire-shaped chocolate pastries, road-sign sugar cookies, and a Piston Peak cinnamon roll large enough to require its own parking permit. A breakfast format makes sense for families, especially in Magic Kingdom. Parents could meet Lightning McQueen, feed everyone a substantial meal, and then head into the rest of the park. Breakfast Platter Lunch and dinner could lean into national park lodge food. Think pot roast, grilled chicken, smoked meats, macaroni and cheese, roasted vegetables, and large salads served family-style. The menu does not need to pretend guests are eating automobile parts. Nobody wants Mater’s Transmission Fluid Soup. Dinner Drinks, however, are allowed to get silly. A bright red Lightning McQueen punch would be inevitable. Mater could have a chocolate milkshake topped with cookie “dirt.” An Old Tankful float could arrive bubbling or smoking, inspired by the geysers planned for Piston Peak. AP-Exclusive Lightning McQueen Ice Cream Sundae And because this is Magic Kingdom, at least one dessert must be large and photogenic. I am picturing a chocolate mountain covered in brownie rubble, marshmallow snow, and a caramel waterfall. It should require four people, two spoons, and a brief meeting with your vacation budget. The BIZARRE Thing That Happened to Me During a Disney World Character Meal A Different Kind of Character Meal This restaurant would fill a very specific gap. Most Disney character meals rely on characters who can hug guests, sign autograph books, and pose beside a table. A Cars meal would be built around spectacle, conversation, and clever technology instead. Cars remains enormously popular with younger Disney fans, but a detailed Piston Peak restaurant could also work for adults who appreciate Imagineering, unusual dining rooms, and air conditioning. Especially air conditioning. Art of Animation The experience would also give Piston Peak something beyond attractions. Rides are important, but restaurants help make a new land feel lived in. They give guests a reason to slow down, notice details, and spend more time inside the story. Ranger J. Autobahn Woodlore ©Disney A character restaurant inside the visitor lodge could become Piston Peak’s centerpiece rather than an extra place to buy burgers. It would be strange, ambitious, and probably expensive to operate. That sounds exactly like what Disney World should be doing. Disney, Start Your Engines To be clear, Disney has not announced a Cars character dining experience for Piston Peak. It has not even confirmed that the new land will contain a restaurant. This idea may never leave the imaginary garage. ©Disney But look at the concept art. Look at that visitor lodge. Look at the mountains, rivers, ranger buildings, and enormous Cars characters who cannot possibly fit between normal restaurant tables. The problem is practically begging Imagineering to solve it. Let families meet Lightning McQueen before dinner. Seat us in old ranger vehicles. Put Mater on screens around the room. Serve a skillet of comfort food while Cars characters race through the mountains outside our digital windows. Radiator Springs It would be unlike any other character meal at Disney World, and that is precisely why it could work. Disney, I am not asking for much. I am only asking you to build an enormous restaurant for talking automobiles inside Magic Kingdom and let me eat waffles in a parked jeep. The instant reservations open, I will be there. 20. What do you do when you retire from being the CEO of Disney? You buy an NBA team! ©New York Times It’s been a year of change for the Los Angeles Lakers. First, LeBron James leaves the team to join the Philadelphia 76ers, and now there’s an ownership change. You may recognize the name of the person who bought the Los Angeles Lakers. It’s somebody by the name of Bob Iger! Breaking news just dropped that Josh Kushner and Bob Iger are buying the Los Angeles Lakers for $12.5 billion, according to ESPN. This is a record-breaking price, which is to be expected considering this is one of the most popular NBA franchises of all time. ©Disney Reports say that Bob Iger was involved in the expansion process in Las Vegas, but pivoted to make an aggressive offer to buy the Lakers from Mark Walter. Mark Walter had just purchased the team from the Buss family last year for a then-record franchise valuation of approximately $10 billion. ©Fox (Bob Iger and NBA Commissioner Adam Silver) “As lifelong NBA fans, we are deeply honored for the opportunity to become stewards of the Los Angeles Lakers, one of the most iconic sports franchises in the world. We have immense respect for the leadership and vision of Jerry and Jeanie Buss,” Kushner and Iger said in a statement. “Our long-term commitment is to build on that foundation, compete at the highest level, and serve this extraordinary team, its fans, and the city of Los Angeles.” ©ESPN Walter, who sold the team, also made a statement. “Owning the Los Angeles Lakers has been one of the great honors of my life — an extraordinary investment, but what I will carry with me is the community, the fans, and a city that treats this team as family. I am grateful to Jeanie Buss, the Buss family, the players, and the staff for welcoming me into this chapter. The Lakers belong to Los Angeles, and I have every confidence the best is still ahead.” ©ESPN The sale still needs to be approved by the NBA’s board of governors, and that process can take several weeks. The next board meeting is set for next month in New York. Assuming it goes through, this will be an interesting and fun next step for the former Disney CEO. ©Disney Make sure to follow Disney Food Blog for more Disney news and beyond! 21. If you’ve spent any real time in the Disney World parks, you know that Cast Members are the glue holding the whole magical operation together. Cinderella Castle They’re smiling in 95-degree heat, answering the same question for the 400th time that day, and somehow still making it look easy. But even the most patient, pixie-dusted Cast Member has a breaking point. We talked to some former Cast Members to find out what guest habits drive them up the wall — and, more importantly, what you should do instead so your next trip stays magical for everyone involved. 1. Feeding the Wildlife Those ducks wandering around World Showcase may look like they’re begging for a snack, but resist the urge. Disney strictly prohibits feeding the animals on property because human food isn’t good for their digestion and can teach wildlife to depend on guests rather than forage naturally, which can eventually make them more aggressive around people. Instead, just enjoy watching the critters do their thing from a respectful distance and let them find their own lunch. We love Disney ducks! 2. Overstaying Your Welcome When the parks host ticketed evening events or extended hours for deluxe resort guests, Cast Members hand out wristbands to anyone who’s cleared to be there. They also staff checkpoints throughout the parks to check for those bands, and if you don’t have one, you’ll be walked to the exit. If you happen to have a late dining reservation that runs into event hours, ask for the appropriate wristband (a dining band, for example, rather than a party band) so Cast Members know exactly why you’re still there — and then head out once your business is done. Party Wristband 3. Pressuring Kids Into Rides They’re Scared Of Disney World is a family-friendly place, but that doesn’t mean every attraction is a slam dunk for every kid (or adult, for that matter). If your child is hesitant, it helps to talk through their fears first, and maybe even pull up a rider’s-eye-view video online so they know what to expect before they commit. For coasters your child just barely meets the height requirement for, consider easing them in with some tamer attractions first rather than throwing them straight onto the big one. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind 4. Trying to Sneak Backstage Walt Disney wanted the parks to feel fully immersive, which is why there are firm rules against guests wandering into backstage areas. These spaces are where Cast Members transition between lands and take breaks, and they’re also used to store equipment, so staying out keeps the illusion — and everyone’s safety — intact. If you’re genuinely curious what’s back there, book one of Disney’s official behind-the-scenes tours, like Keys to the Kingdom at Magic Kingdom or Wild Africa Trek at Animal Kingdom. Wild Africa Trek 5. Monopolizing a Character’s Time It’s tempting to want every last second with your favorite character, especially after a long wait in line. But there’s always another family waiting right behind you for their turn. Prep your kids ahead of time by explaining that meet-and-greets are quick hellos, not extended hangouts, so the goodbye doesn’t come as a surprise. Hi, Mulan! 6. Never Chatting With Cast Members Thanks to Disney’s cultural representative program, the Cast Members working World Showcase pavilions actually come from the countries those pavilions represent. That means they’re a great resource for learning about their home country’s food, language, and even their own local Disney parks. Don’t be shy about asking a cultural representative about their favorite ride or what they’ll miss most when their program wraps up — most are happy to talk about something other than work, as long as you’re mindful of how busy they are. We LOVE Cast Members! 7. Parking Your Stroller Carelessly Strollers can’t come everywhere with you — they’ll need to stay parked outside before you get in a ride line, enter most indoor shows, or sit down at a restaurant. Designated stroller parking is usually easy to spot (just look for the cluster of other strollers), and a Cast Member can point you in the right direction if you’re unsure. Keep in mind your stroller might get shifted around later on to make room for others, so tie on something easy to spot, like a balloon, a string of lights, or a bright ribbon, so you can track it down quickly. Magic Kingdom Strollers 8. Losing Your Cool Between long lines, heavy crowds, and hours of walking in the heat, tempers can run short in the parks. Getting frustrated is completely normal, but taking it out on a Cast Member or another guest crosses a line. If you see a situation escalating, the best move is to step away and alert a nearby Cast Member so they can loop in security. Disney’s team is trained to de-escalate these moments, so there’s no need to intervene yourself. Crowds + Heat = Not Good 9. Not Playing Along With the Fun Cast Members bring their own personality and playfulness to the job, whether that’s a quick magic trick or a spot-on character impression. When one of them wants to share a little moment like that with you, lean into it! It’s often one of those small, unexpected highlights that ends up being a favorite part of the trip. Cast Members make the magic 10. Asking Cast Members for Free Tickets Cast Members do earn a limited number of complimentary tickets, but those are typically reserved for close friends and family. It’s not uncommon for old acquaintances to suddenly resurface hoping for a free pass, but remember that those perks are earned through plenty of hard work and long shifts, so it’s best not to ask. Scanning into the theme park 11. Going to the Parks While Sick Nobody wants to lose a vacation day to being under the weather, but pushing through and heading to the parks anyway isn’t fair to other guests or Cast Members who could catch whatever you have. It’s best to rest at your resort, and you can reach out to the on-call medical service through the My Disney Experience app if needed. If you just need basic medicine to get through the day, most resort gift shops carry over-the-counter essentials (at a markup, but it’ll do the job). HELP. I’m Sick in Disney World — Where Do I Go and Can I Get Any Money Back?! First Aid in Magic Kingdom 12. Ignoring the Safety Signage Those posted warnings outside attractions aren’t just a formality. Cast Members really do want you to read them before boarding. Some rides can pose risks for guests with high blood pressure, back or neck issues, motion sickness, or who are pregnant, and that’s especially true for more intense attractions like Mission: Space, Space Mountain, Expedition Everest, and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. Take a moment to check the posted guidance and make the safe call for your own health. Warning at Test Track 13. Waiting Until You’re at the Register to Decide If there’s a line at a quick-service spot, use that time productively and figure out your order before you reach the counter. Cast Members won’t rush you, but having your order (and your payment method) ready to go the moment you step up keeps the line moving for everyone. Menus are posted at the booth, online, and often in festival passports, so there’s no need to wait until the last second. The line for the Italy Booth 14. Cutting the Line Waiting in line is part of the deal, and Cast Members have little patience for guests who try to skip ahead — yes, including the classic “my family is already up there” move. If you want to shorten your wait, your real options are purchasing Lightning Lane or using single rider lines where available. And if you truly need to step out for an emergency, just let a Cast Member in line know so they can help you rejoin your spot afterward. You will have to wait in line 15. Saving a Table Before You’ve Ordered Sending someone ahead to claim a table before you’ve actually got food in hand might feel efficient, but it often means guests with trays in hand are left wandering with nowhere to sit. Some locations, like Connections Eatery and Cafe in EPCOT, have started enforcing a no-seating-without-food policy during busy periods. Even where that rule isn’t enforced, it’s best to hold off on grabbing a seat until your order is actually in hand. Seating 16. Forgetting to Tip at Table Service Restaurants Just like restaurants back home, table service servers in Disney World work for tips, so don’t treat the parks as a tip-free zone. And if you’re using the Disney Dining Plan, remember that gratuity isn’t included in that price, so you’ll still want to budget for it separately. Roundup Rodeo 17. Not Listening During a Ride Evacuation If a ride breaks down and requires a full evacuation, Cast Members ask that you stay calm, remain seated, and follow their instructions closely. They’re working to get everyone out as safely and quickly as possible, even if it takes a little longer depending on where your vehicle stopped on the track. Afterward, it’s worth checking with a Cast Member near the exit, since they’ll sometimes offer an experience redemption pass as an apology for the inconvenience. Ride Evacuation At the end of the day, most of these tips boil down to the same thing: a little patience and consideration go a long way toward keeping the parks magical for Cast Members and guests alike. 22. Florida weather is notoriously finicky. It can be bright and sunny one minute, and then, the next minute, it could be raining cats and dogs with thunder and lightning, only to be bright and sunny again once that’s over. But one thing you can count on in the summer in Florida is that it will be hot AND humid. It’s going to be hot today Now, if you’re not used to heat and humidity, think about being inside an oven, but the oven is actually a swamp, and the swamp is pretty much boiling. Yeah, it’s kinda like that. Well, according to The Orlando Sentinel, today is going to be REALLY unbearable, with a heat advisory beginning for the area as of 10 AM. East Central Florida, including Disney World, is under a heat advisory from 10 AM to 8 PM today. Temperatures are expected to get up to the high 90s, but the heat index will make it feel like it’s anywhere from 108 to 112 degrees. That humidity is really what’s going to get you, so you’ll want to take all precautions if you plan on being outside today, and if you’re visiting Disney World, we imagine that’s part of your daily plan. It’s going to be muggy in the parks If you are visiting Disney World today, we advise you to take as many breaks inside air-conditioned spaces as possible. That means getting on a lot of indoor rides, taking advantage of attractions that feature indoor theaters, spending time inside shops, etc. You’ll want to stay inside as much as you possibly can. Indoor attractions are a great way to cool off You’ll also want to stay hydrated and drink plenty of water. Bring a water bottle and take advantage of the water bottle refill stations in each park. You can also request a free cup of water from most counter service restaurants. Bring your water bottle Portable fans and neck fans can also come in handy to help you feel cooler when you have to be outside. Cooling towels are also a great option to help keep your body temperature down. However, if at any point in time you feel sick, get indoors quickly, and if you need medical attention, make your way to a First Aid station if you can. If not, inform a Cast Member immediately. 23. Disney has some major announcements up their sleeve that they’re saving for D23: the Ultimate Disney Fan Event, a biannual expo where they release some major news about the Disney theme parks. Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland Disneyland has some major expansions coming soon that Disney hasn’t updated us on since the last D23 expo in 2024. Disney could make many HUGE Disneyland announcements at D23, but here are five MAJOR announcements that might be revealed this weekend! Avengers Campus Avengers Campus in Disney California Adventure will soon double in size with two new rides. Avengers: Infinity Defense will have riders join the Avengers in their epic battle against Thanos! The ride will jump between worlds with settings including Wakanda, Asgard, and New York. Plus, you’ll see familiar faces like Hulk, Ant-Man, and Iron Man voiced by Robert Downey Jr. himself! Avengers Infinity Defense ©Disney Another sneak peek we’re hoping for soon is Stark Flight Lab. In this new ride, you’ll fly like an Avenger with Iron Man! Imagineers are creating a brand new technology where a robotic arm attaches to your vehicle for a more dynamic simulated flight. But even with all of these fun ride details, Disney hasn’t yet announced an opening day for them! ©Disney Pandora: The World of Avatar An all-new Avatar land is coming to Disney California Adventure! This new destination will bring Pandora to life in a brand-new way inspired by Avatar: The Way of Water, Avatar: Fire and Ash, and upcoming Avatar 4 and Avatar 5. ©Disney In June 2025, Disney confirmed the new Avatar land will take over a portion of the current Hollywood Backlot area, and Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! will close in 2027. That’s all we have in terms of a timeline for Pandora, so we’ll likely get more news at D23. Coco ride Back in August 2024, Disney shared that a brand-new Coco ride would be coming to Disney California Adventure. The brand-new Coco ride will be located near Paradise Gardens Park and Pixar Pier, and construction is currently underway. ©Disney The new attraction will be a boat ride, and we’ll see music play a large role. Disney hasn’t announced an opening date or timeline yet, but since it’s currently under construction, we might get an update this weekend! New park!?! Rumors of a new Disneyland theme park have been circulating for years, but Disney has never confirmed anything. ©Disney With the $2 BILLION development upgrade to Disneyland’s parking and resorts finally taking shape, Disney will soon have the infrastructure to support a third theme park if it’s truly in the works behind the scenes. The Disneyland Expansion Is Just Getting Started. Here’s What Might Come Next… We’ll be sure to keep you updated on Disneyland news from D23 this weekend. 27. Construction and refurbishment projects have been a part of Disney World since the beginning, and right now the resort is full of projects including Piston Peak, Tropical Americas, and Monstropolis. However, in addition to those massive-scale projects, there are also a few going on around some of the hotels. Animal Kingdom Lodge Over the course of the next months, several Disney World hotels will see refurbishment and renovation projects begin, and we’re breaking down everything you need to know. Saratoga Springs Resort We’ve known about several Saratoga Springs projects for a while now, including the ongoing refurbishment of the Treehouse Villas coming to the Saratoga Springs Resort. The redesign will lean heavily into natural vibes, featuring granite countertops, hardwood floors, lighting, furniture, and decor. Plus, basics like updated appliances, including the fridge, oven, and microwave. ©Disney In addition, August will see a bit of musical chairs with the resort’s restaurants. The Turf Club Lounge at Saratoga Springs, which has been closed since the spring, will reopen; then, the Turf Club Patio will have a brief closure from early through mid-August, and finally, the Turf Club Bar & Grill will be closed from August to September, this time with the aforementioned Turf Club Lounge remaining open. Turf Club Bar & Grill Finally, in their most recent update on the Disney World website, the hotel now lists that areas of the Port Cochere (the covered front entrance to the hotel) will be undergoing refurbishment through fall 2026. Saratoga Springs Lobby Yacht & Beach Club Resorts Meanwhile, over at the Yacht Club and Beach Club Resorts, Disney has also added a temporary closure notice regarding one of the resort’s key transportation options. From August 17th through 21st, 2026, the FriendShip Boat dock will be closed for maintenance. During the closure, direct bus transportation will be available to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and you can use the nearby walkways to get to EPCOT. You can also walk to EPCOT and then take the Disney Skyliner to Hollywood Studios if you’d like to avoid the bus. Disney’s Yacht Club Resort Fort Wilderness Resort and Campgrounds If you’re planning to stay at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort, be aware that through mid-October, soil erosion prevention work will be taking place along the sidewalk on Big Pine Trail. This means that at certain times, alternate paths of travel may be in place due to roadway detours, so some paths may take you longer than normal. Fort Wilderness Animal Kingdom Lodge If you’re planning to stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge, there are several major construction changes you need to know about. Beginning August 17th, the lobby and nearby areas at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge – Kidani Village will undergo refurbishment in phases, which are as follows: August 17th through October 9th: The main lobby and primary entrance will be closed. Check-in will move to the Palace Library during this time. August 17th through 28th: The merchandise location, Johari Treasures, will be closed. September 28th through October 9th: The north side lobby corridor will be closed. During this time, the north side lobby elevators on the second floor and the outdoor terrace observation deck will be unavailable. October 26th through November 6th: The south side lobby corridor will be closed. During this time, Community Hall, Safari So Good Arcade, the laundry room, the Palace Library, lobby restrooms, and the outdoor terrace observation deck will be unavailable. The Savanna at Animal Kingdom Lodge Coronado Springs Resort The Convention Center at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort has begun refurbishment. The project is expected to stretch through September 2027. Furthermore, the hotel’s El Centro Corridor and surrounding areas will also undergo refurbishment tied to the convention center refurbishment. According to Disney, work will be completed in phases, with certain spaces being temporarily inaccessible at times. The work will take place overnight to “help minimize impacts to daily operations, however, Disney does stress that guests may see or hear construction activity in the area while work is ongoing. Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort Further projects that will be ongoing through late 2026 and into 2027 include: Boardwalk Exterior Refurbishment: Through Late 2026 Wilderness Lodge Exterior Refurbishment: Late 2026 Yacht Club Exterior Maintenance: Late 2026 All-Star Movies Refurb: May 2026 to January 2027 Animal Kingdom Lodge Jambo House Refurb: May 2026 to January 2027 Grand Floridian Resort-Wide Refurbishment Including Porte-cochère: Through early 2027 Port Orleans Room Refurbishment: Through August 2027 Art of Animation Room Refurbishment: Through Late 2027 Beach Club Exterior Refurbishment: Through Late 2027 Contemporary Resort-Wide: Through Late 2027 ©Disney Beginning in August, several Disney hotels are launching new refurbishment projects that guests should be aware of.
