Blueberry Lemonade Cookie from Gideon’s Bakehouse Six Ravens just officially soft-opened, and we found out that there are over 80 Halloween treats coming to Disney Springs for the spooky season, but that’s not all. Gideon’s Bakehouse has just revealed that there’s a semi-secret limited-time offering available right now that you will NOT want to miss out on! Gideon’s Bakehouse just announced on their Facebook page that the new Blueberry Lemonade Cookie Bite is available for purchase! Cookie Bites are often available on the menu here, but they’re more of an “if you know, you know” item, as they’re not advertised. Cookie Bites are created when the company takes one of their almost half-pound cookies, cuts it into quarters, and dips it in premium Dark Chocolate. Some think they’re a great way to sample flavors, and while we don’t disagree, these are also just a beautiful creation on their own. Gideon’s Bakehouse Andes Mint Cookie Bites The Blueberry Lemonade Cookie Bite currently available is made out of the Blueberry Lemonade Cookie, which is made with a naturally sweet blueberry-lemon mixture cookie, topped with a small fortune worth of delectable yogurt mini chips, and then a sprinkling of agave crunch & vibrant blueberry sugar is added to complete it. It’s a pretty annoying problem when you get to the parks and your favorite ride is closed, whether that be for a ride refurbishment or something else. But it happens, which is why we always tell everyone to check park calendars before they visit a Disney Park. Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland Well, in Disneyland, there are several upcoming ride closures in August and September, but we just confirmed two more ride closures that are coming up soon. So we’re going to warn you about those so you can plan accordingly. One of the rides that will be closing soon is the Mad Tea Party, a popular ride in Fantasyland (at least for those people who like to spin around in circles until they get dizzy). According to the Disneyland calendar, Mad Tea Party will close on September 14th. Disney has not yet revealed a reopening date for the ride. Mad Tea Party Pirate’s Lair on Tom Sawyer Island will also be closing soon, on September 14th. This is a walkthrough attraction with pirate caves, treasure scenes, and interactive features themed around Pirates of the Caribbean. Disney has also not confirmed a reopening date for this attraction. Pirate’s Lair We also want to remind you of previously announced closures coming up soon. Haunted Mansion will close on August 8th to become Haunted Mansion Holiday with a Nightmare Before Christmas overlay. The ride with the overlay will reopen on August 20th. Haunted Mansion Holiday Main Street Cinema will close on August 10th and reopen on August 27th. Indiana Jones Adventure will close on September 8th. Disney has not confirmed a reopening date for that ride. The Mark Twain Riverboat will close on September 8th and reopen on September 11th. I am a proud Muppet lover, and now is my time to SHINE in Hollywood Studios. Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway Hollywood Studios is already home to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, and even though Muppets Courtyard has been destroyed to welcome Monstropolis, Hollywood Studios still feels very Muppet-esque. Well, now it’s going to be a little bit more Muppet-y for a limited time. From August 11th to September 24th, Annual Passholders can grab a special Kermit magnet from the Mickey Shorts Theater from park opening to closing while supplies last. You’ll want to make sure to have your Annual Pass available along with a form of identification. ©Disney You can also take a special PhotoPass Magic Shot with Kermit and a banjo. So maybe Kermit isn’t there in real life, but your photo will tell a different story! It will be near the end of Hollywood Boulevard, close to Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, from 10 AM to 4 PM daily. ©Disney Can’t forget about the snacks! You can ram a Key lime Kermit Milk Shake featuring vanilla ice cream, key lime cake crumbs, key lime sauce, and sprinkles from Dockside Diner. You’ll need to show your Annual Pass for it ©Disney While you’re in Hollywood Studios, you might as well enjoy the new Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets if you haven’t seen it yet (or want to ride it again). Maybe grab some of the Muppet merch while you’re there, too! For years now, the question has been what water bottle is best for a trip to Disney World. We’ve tried out dozens upon dozens, and often, we come down to two — Stanley and Owala. Ariel Owala Water Bottle Both brands are great for the parks, and we’ve very rarely been let down by either. It often comes down to personal preference, but one of our reporters recently tried an Owala for the first time in the parks and was absolutely mind-blown. When we polled the rest of the team, the updated numbers show that Owala is being chosen over Stanley for very good reasons! Little Mermaid Owala You’ve likely seen Owala water bottles all over Disney World, and for good reason! They come in all different colors and designs, and that’s one of our favorite aspects about the bottles that have nothing to do with practicality — there are so many looks available, including Disney-themed designs, everyone will easily be able to find one they love. We do appreciate that the Disney-themed bottles aren’t overly so, making it easy to carry them around in everyday life too without feeling like you’re absolutely screaming your love of Disney (not that there’s anything wrong with that!). Rapunzel Owala As for the practicality of the bottles, these do not leak in the SLIGHTEST, and when you’re running around the parks with tons of other essentials in your bag, it’s wonderful to know your water bottle isn’t going to get your other items wet. In fact, our reporter shared that their Stanley is the water bottle they use at home ONLY for their desk due to the leaking issues that often occur. Not to mention, we put ice in at 8 AM on the morning of our park day, and there was STILL some ice at 10 AM the next morning! The water stayed cold all day, even though we opened it to refill about five times throughout the day. Owala Rapunzel Water Bottle We love how easy it is to carry around, the double lock for the lid so it doesn’t pop open when you don’t want it to, and the straw feature makes it super easy to quickly grab and drink from as you’re walking around. We did notice that the bottle does seem to attract dirt and marks a bit more than others, but that didn’t impact the bottle itself at all. Overall, it wasn’t enough to make us not want to use the bottle in the slightest. We love staying hydrated in Disney style! Lots of people don’t realize just how MUCH water you need to stay hydrated in Disney World, and keeping the water nice and cold all day, it made it much easier to sip from as we went through the day. It also allowed us to save SO much money, since we weren’t paying $5 for a cold bottle of water every time we were thirsty. We can’t recommend Owala enough, and think it’s absolutely necessary for your next trip! Grab on Amazon! One of our favorite times of year in Magic Kingdom is right around the corner, and we couldn’t be more stoked! Halloween decor is here! Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party kicks off in the park in just a few short days on August 7th, and we have to admit that we were getting a little worried about the lack of fall decor in the park. That all changed today, though, because the beloved Halloween decor has officially begun to arrive! Each year, we seem to see the Halloween decor roll out at different times, though you can count on the fact that it’ll all be out and ready to go by the first Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party of the year. As we got to the Transportation and Ticket Center today, we noticed signage up for the party, and then noticed it again right when we got off the Monorail. You’ll walk right past it whether you take the Monorail, or the Ferry! It’s almost here! Walking up to the entrance gates, we noticed the iconic fall decor is on the Main Street U.S.A. Train Station, which we always love to see. It’s here! We can’t forget about the adorable pumpkins that sit in the middle of the gates — they’re a popular spot to take photos, so be sure to pack your patience! We love these pumpkins! The moment we stepped into the park, we started to see the pumpkins spread out around our favorite scarecrows. They’re all dressed differently, but all of them have jack-o-lanterns for faces, making them perfect for the season. We love the scarecrows! These aren’t as popular to take photos with, but we think that’s a missed opportunity — they’re SO cute! So cute every year! We can see some of the larger pumpkins up around the start of Main Street, though the smaller pumpkins that go on the buildings, the wreaths that usually line Main Street, and other smaller decor items haven’t been added just yet. We’re hoping they’ll arrive soon, and we’ll keep an eye out. More Recent Halloween News! Universal Studios Hollywood just made another Halloween Horror Nights announcement! ©Universal Over the past few weeks, we have been getting updates on Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights new and returning houses for 2026. We’ve got another one to add to that list, as Universal just announced a house that will be coming back once again! The 1988 classic sci-fi horror, Killer Klowns from Outer Space, is coming back to Universal Studios Hollywood Halloween Horror Nights for another year of scares! The house has been at HHN for a few years now, and that tally is about to continue. ©Universal If you’re afraid of clowns, HHN just got a whole lot scarier this year. The haunted house is only coming to Universal Studios Hollywood. So fans shouldn’t go looking for this one at Universal Studios Orlando. Halloween Horror Nights The Killer Klowns from Outer Space house will be joining alongside houses themed to Ozzy Osbourne, Stranger Things Season 5, Hellraiser, Evil Dead Burn, and one we’re extra excited about, Sinners. It’s going to be a night filled with scares, and we’re really curious to see how some of these houses look. ©Universal Halloween Horror Nights starts on August 28th in Universal Orlando and on September 3rd in Universal Hollywood. As we mentioned before, the Killer Klowns house has been used a few times in the past. This announcement has led to a mix of results. One of our favorite ways to escape the park crowds and relax on our Disney vacations is by chilling out at our resort’s pool, but don’t worry — the Disney magic is still there! The Swan Hotel Pool Disney resort pools will sometimes hold different activities throughout the day, whether that’s a pool party, trivia games, or just blasting some good ole Disney music. But you don’t need to be staying at a Disney resort to join in on the fun. The Swan and Dolphin Hotels are serving up something fun FIVE days this August! This summer, the Swan and Dolphin Hotels are hosting a Summer Concert Series, and for five days in August, guests will be able to chill by the pool and listen to some live entertainment. It doesn’t get better than that! Pool and the Swan and Dolphin This FREE event includes live music and rotating culinary experiences at Cabana Bar & Beach Club at the Dolphin Hotel and Splash Pool Bar & Grill at the Swan Hotel. Guests attending will be able to enjoy themed food trucks and specialty cocktails all while they jam out to the concert. These passes start at $22 per adult (18+), $10 per child (3-17), and free for infants (below 3 years old), plus tax. Beneath the glow of Sleeping Beauty Castle, I’ve joined thousands of dedicated walkers who are gathered for CHOC Walk: an annual 5k walk through both Disneyland park and Disney California Adventure park in support of children and families who have received care at Rady Children’s Hospital Orange County. Amid the early morning hours, thousands reunite with loved ones, share stories, and take steps towards ensuring children have access to the medical treatment they need. Walking for Rady Children’s Hospital Orange County For over 10 years, I’ve made magic as a Disneyland Resort cast member, and throughout the last decade, I’ve come to admire the resort’s commitment to giving back to its community. When I first learned about CHOC Walk, the event quickly found a special place in my heart, especially knowing that some of my younger family members and even my own son received care through Rady Children’s Hospital Orange County. As a mother, this event felt deeply personal, and I immediately knew I wanted to support the families that leaned on CHOC during some of life’s most difficult moments. Outside of making magic for guests, I’ve found an incredible community online creating content, by sharing snippets of my life with others and connecting through shared experiences. It’s been a space where I’ve met some of my closest friends along with people who share the same passion for storytelling, kindness, and giving back. When my fellow creators and I unite, our platforms reach millions of people, but what’s truly remarkable is that all of us believe in using our online platforms to create a meaningful impact in our communities. So, in 2024, I sent a simple message to my network of creators with an idea: what if we joined together to create a team and walk in this year’s CHOC Walk at Disneyland Resort? Before I had even finished explaining the idea, everyone was in. The Power of Community at Our First CHOC Walk That first year, our team consisted of just seven people, all inspired by the belief that meaningful change often starts with just a few. We called ourselves ChEARS for CHOC, inspired by both the Disney community we loved and the children we hoped to support. By leveraging each of our platforms, we transformed our personal stories into a collective force for good, shining a light on CHOC Walk and the children and families it supports. Through daily social posts, stories, and videos, we invited our communities into the journey with us. Before long, we felt the power of our community members rallying alongside us, joining together as if we were one collective family, and donations began pouring in from people who believed in the cause. ChEARS for CHOC team participating in their first year for CHOC Walk in the Park at Disneyland Resort in 2024. The morning of our first CHOC Walk, we stood together on Main Street, U.S.A. feeling the excitement building around us. Every direction you looked, there was a sensation of solidarity, as families, friends, cast members, and supporters gathered for one of the most meaningful events I’ve ever had the privilege of being part of. Throughout the walk, we quickly realized that every person standing beside us carried a story. Parents walked for their children. Grandparents walked for their grandchildren. Teams walked hand in hand, proudly wearing matching shirts, while others quietly carried photos of loved ones close to their hearts. As we crossed the finish line, emotions overwhelmed all of us. Without needing to say much, we looked at one another and immediately knew this wouldn’t be a one-time event. I smiled at our team: “See you next year?” ChEARS for CHOC doubling in size for their 2nd annual CHOC Walk in 2025. The Legacy of Walking and Giving Continues By the time CHOC Walk 2025 rolled around, somehow our small but mighty team doubled in size. What started as a simple idea turned into something much larger: more creators joined us, our families joined in, and together, we built a community with a shared purpose. Our goal had always been to spread awareness about CHOC Walk, and we began to see that mission come to life. This year marks our third CHOC Walk, and every time I see the thousands of children, friends, families, and loved ones at the starting line, I’m reminded why this tradition means so much to me. In those moments, Disneyland becomes more than the Happiest Place on Earth. It becomes a place where hope is celebrated, and every step reflects the power of showing up for one another. Now in 2026, our team has tripled in size and with our collective platforms reach more than three million people. Year after year, CHOC Walk continues to be a reminder that when a community comes together with a shared purpose, even the smallest steps can create lasting change. And so long as there are families who need hope, we will keep showing up. Together. Getting stuck on a theme park ride is some people’s dream and some people’s nightmare. For us, it depends on the ride; we dream about being evacuated from the PeopleMover, but Incredicoaster is a hard pass for us. ©Wonderland Amusement Park According to People, 18 guests were rescued from a roller coaster mid-air at Wonderland Amusement Park in Amarillo, Texas, on August 1st. The park is currently celebrating its 75th anniversary when Texas Tornado stopped with 18 riders on board. ©Wonderland Amusement Park The riders were evacuated with assistance from the Amarillo Fire Department, which brought three engines and a ladder truck to the site. They used an aerial ladder to remove the riders from the coaster. No injuries were reported, but Amarillo Medical Services evaluated one person. It remains unclear if that person was transported to a local hospital. ©Wonderland Amusement Park The Texas Tornado has been closed since, and the park is investigating the cause of the malfunction to complete any repairs needed. We’ve got exciting news out of Disney World, especially if you’ve been as excited to stay at the newest hotel, Lakeshore Lodge, as we’ve been! ©Disney This new hotel is expected to open in the summer of 2027, though no official opening date has been announced yet. It’ll be a Disney Vacation Club (DVC) hotel closest to Magic Kingdom, and will “celebrate the beauty and magic of nature as seen through the eyes of Disney artists and storytellers.” We’ve been anxiously awaiting more news about the hotel, and now we’ve got NEW concept art to get excited about! Some of the new concept art shows a new lounge space that will be available for guests at the hotel, as well as what the lobby will look like. From the new photos released, it looks like the lobby will be incredibly open, with floor-to-ceiling windows that will showcase sweeping views of The Wetlands outdoor recreation area, allowing the “local flora and fauna to flow seamlessly into the architecture, artwork, and ambiance.” The lobby takes inspiration from the music and storytelling of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Pocahontas, as seen with the shimmering fiberoptic river that will illuminate the floor, as well as a blown glass Colors of the Wind sculpture with hundreds of suspended glass leaves above. ©Disney Disney also gave us a look at a new lounge coming to the hotel, which will be called Dandelion Terrace. This will feature a two-story gallery of archival artwork from Disney classics like Fantasia, complete with whimsical dandelion light fixtures that will provide soft lighting throughout the space. The sweeping views create the perfect setting to slow down and enjoy the Magic Kingdom fireworks from afar. ©Disney That’s not all, though! New restaurants are coming to Disney World! ©Disney Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge is getting closer and closer to opening, meaning we’re getting new details about the hotel! From that amazing pool to inside the hotel rooms, there are lots of things to be excited about with this new hotel. One thing we can’t wait for? The NEW restaurants coming to the hotel, which is set to open in summer 2027. That’s right! Disney has FINALLY confirmed what we’ve been waiting for. NEW dining spots are coming to Lakeshore Lodge, the new Magic Kingdom area resort hotel. What are we chowing down on, you ask? Starting off strong, we have Moonglade, a table-service restaurant. ©Disney There will be “thoughtfully prepared dishes featuring seasonal and locally sourced ingredients.” There will also be gorgeous floor-to-ceiling windows that will frame the gracefully arching cypress trees along Bay Lake where “artful lighting and nuanced design reflect the interplay of light and shadow.” ©Disney Say hello to Bay Lake Provisions! This will be an all-day, quick service marketplace with specialty coffees and fresh fare in an open-kitchen atmosphere. Be sure to keep an eye out for woodland critters inspired by beloved Disney classics. ©Disney Disney also announced Paint Out Point Bar & Grill, which will be near Lakeshore Lagoon. You can grab shareable bites and specialty beverages while soaking in the natural beauty that surrounds The Wetlands. It’s inspired by the art of plein-air painting and will feature original artwork created by Imagineers who were inspired by Bay Lake landscapes. ©Disney Dandelion Terrace will also be joining the lineup, although not a restaurant, with stunning views of the Magic Kingdom fireworks across Bay Lake. The lounge will be home to a two-story gallery of archival artwork from classics like Fantasia, with dandelion light fixtures that add a touch of magic. The soft lighting and sweeping views create the perfect setting to slow down and enjoy the nighttime spectacular. It seems like the perfect place to hang out and create a magical moment. ©Disney These new dining spots will be in addition to the 967 rooms coming to the resort, ranging from studio options to spacious suites. The entire resort is inspired by nature and animation from Walt Disney Animation. The rooms will feature views of Bay Lake and Magic Kingdom fireworks, and that pool is sure to be seriously popular! ©Disney In addition to those (hopefully) delicious dining spots, guests can check out The Wetlands. At the Wetlands, you can find the Daydream River, which will be a lazy river that runs throughout the pool area. ©Disney You can also explore Lakeshore Lagoon, which will be a zero-entry pool in the heart of The Wetlands. It will also feature a spiral waterslide, which we know will see long lines thanks to the kids. One section of The Wetlands will be dedicated to those same kids! It will be a place where they can “become part of nature’s story through whimsical wet and dry play areas inspired by the music and storytelling of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Pocahontas.” The play area is specifically inspired by the lyrics, “the heron and the otter are my friends,” from the film’s song, Colors of the Wind. Let us just say, these creatures look amazing! Heron Shores will focus on exploration and hands-on play with climbing features. Otter Springs will feature interactive water features. ©Disney This resort has been in the works for YEARS after initially being announced as Reflections — A Disney Lakeside Lodge Resort back in 2019. That hotel was originally supposed to open in 2022 before it was quietly canceled and then re-announced as Lakeshore Lodge. There’s been a new change at EPCOT, and we kind of love it! EPCOT We have seen a lot of changes at Disney World this year, from big projects like Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets to small projects like new trash cans popping up. In fact, we think that even the small changes, like the new trash cans, are a small upgrade to your Disney day. Why do we bring that up? Because new ones have shown up at EPCOT’s World Showcase! Now, before you ask why something like new trash cans would be an improvement to our Disney day, think about the ones we’re used to. The trash cans at Disney World have swinging doors that collect all sorts of food, beverages, and gross things when people toss their trash and dirty plates in them. On top of that, the open garbage can does not smell the best. Old garbage cans Ok, but we’re just using the garbage cans for garbage, right? We can simply just use them and walk past them? Well, we actually use the garbage cans for more than just trash disposals. In fact, a lot of regular Disney goers do. When you can’t find a table to eat at, it’s very common that we find the nearest garbage can to place our tray of food on and eat. Trash can table! This trend is most popular at EPCOT because of the festivals. You’re grabbing food and drinks all around the World Showcase, and it’s almost impossible to find a table. So, as much as the garbage cans have been there for us, you can imagine it’s not the nicest dining experience. Trash can = table at Food and Wine! Seriously though, dining on trash cans has become a true staple of an EPCOT experience. So, since those classic trash cans have been changing, it’s completely changed our makeshift dining experience. New trash cans! We’ve been seeing new ones pop up all around World Showcase, and now our favorite ones have arrived. They’re in a popular spot, and they have a unique design compared to others that we’ve seen. Introducing the American Pavilion trash cans! New trash cans at the American Pavilion! These trash cans at the American Adventure Pavilion are being added to the collection of these new solar trash cans popping up around EPCOT. Instead of using your hands to push in a swinging door, you can step on the push-down bar, and it will open the trash can so you can easily throw your things away. It’s really helped not create a bigger mess with the swinging door. We love these! The trash cans have solar panels on top of them to collect lots of energy throughout the day! These upgrades have come to both the trash cans and the recycling bins around the park. The slightly curved top does make it seem like it’ll be hard to dine on top of easily, but we’ll figure it out. We like that the new trash cans still feature the symbol of where they’re located. New trash cans at Animal Kingdom These changes are coming at the perfect time as the 2026 EPCOT Food and Wine Festival officially starts on August 27th! Disney World’s After Hours Events are separately ticketed events that allow guests to enjoy beloved attractions with lower wait times for an extra three hours after the park closes to the public, with some complimentary snacks and drinks included. Plus, guests can enter the park at 7 PM, giving them a few extra hours in the park before the event even begins! EPCOT After Hours If that all sounds like your ideal day at a Disney park in 2026, you’ll need to act FAST, as dates for the year are running out! Currently, only EPCOT and Hollywood Studios have After Hours Events scheduled for the rest of 2026 as far as the resort’s primary theme parks go, as the Magic Kingdom’s final offering of the year took place in late July. After Hours Snacks EPCOT’s remaining 2026 After Hours Events are scheduled for August 6th and 13th, and September 16th and 24th. Guests with After Hours Event tickets can enter the park at 7 PM, and the event lasts from 9:30 PM to 12:30 AM. Event tickets cost $155 to $189 per ticket, plus tax, depending on the date. Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club Members can save $30 per ticket. During H20 Glow After Hours events, guests can enjoy Typhoon Lagoon in a whole different way, with special lighting illuminating the park’s attractions, including Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool, Castaway Creek, raft rides, and waterslides! Plus, there are included snacks, a DJ dance party, and Disney characters! H2O Glow After Hours Remaining H20 Glow nights for 2026 include August 9th, 22nd, and 29th, and September 5th. The event runs from 8 PM to 11 PM each night. Event tickets are $85 to $89 per ticket, plus tax, depending on the date, and $20 cheaper for children ages 3 to 9. Menu changes at Disneyland Resort happen pretty frequently, just like they do over at Disney World. We do our best to keep an eye on them all, since we know what a jarring (and sometimes heartbreaking) moment it can be when you find that one of your favorite menu items is no longer available. Three-Cheese Monte Cristo and Pommes Frites from Disneyland’s Cafe Orleans We just got word from a reader that one of our favorite vegetarian menu items in all of Disneyland, located at Cafe Orleans, is no longer available. Unfortunately, when we went to go check for ourselves, we confirmed it’s true — if you were hoping to snag this popular menu item on your next trip, you’ll be out of luck. The Battered & Fried Triple Cheese Monte Cristo Sandwich has been on both the lunch and dinner menus for years now and has been a fan-favorite, especially for vegetarians. It was $26 and made of Brie, Swiss and Mozzarella with Seasonal Preserves and a choice of Pommes Frites or Petite Caesar Salad. Unfortunately, it’s been confirmed by both our reader, Cameron (thank you for letting us know!) and a Cast Member in the park, that this item is no longer on the menu. Three-Cheese Monte Cristo at Disneyland’s Cafe New Orleans Don’t be fooled if you happen to take a look at the menu on the Disneyland website — while that menu hasn’t yet been updated and still shows it as available, the Disneyland app and menu inside the restaurant don’t have the option, and those are both correct. We expect the Disneyland website to be updated very soon, but just know that there is a difference at the time of writing. Three-Cheese Monte Cristo Close Up This was a delicious option that we ourselves will really miss, and we know a lot of those who eat a vegetarian diet will miss it as well. In fact, Cameron let us know that both of her sons were really looking forward to trying the sandwich, as they’re both vegetarians, and were disappointed when told it was no longer available. Now, it is possible to ask for the regular Battered & Fried Monte Cristo Sandwich on the menu without meat, but it’s not the same, and we recognize that. There has been a TON of Marvel talk as of late! Spider-Man: Brand New Day just released in theatres, having the second biggest opening weekend of ALL TIME, and fans are getting ready for Avengers: Doomsday to release at the end of the year. On top of that, Marvel announced two NEW projects that are on the horizon at San Diego Comic Con. ©Marvel However, there’s one other project that has been talked about a lot amongst fans as of late, and it’s a project that we won’t be seeing. Seven years ago, in July of 2019, Marvel announced that a Blade movie starring Mahershala Ali would be coming. That movie has been completely scrapped, and fans AND Mahershala Ali have responded! Recently, the president of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, expressed his disappointment over the failed Blade reboot that was supposed to star Mahershala Ali. He claimed that he felt like “a gigantic loser and failure” that the movie never got off the ground with Mahershala. ©Deadline Marvel announced the Blade reboot in July 2019, and it was said that Bassam Tariq was going to direct the project. He then exited in September 2022, roughly two months before it was set to begin shooting. “Several screenwriters came and went during development, from Watchmen scribe Stacy Osei-Kuffour to Michael Starrbury. Yann Demange stepped in as the movie’s director after Tariq’s exit, but Demange ended up dropping out in June 2024,” according to Variety. ©Variety Mahershala Ali ended up calling Marvel out, saying, “I’ve been doing this professionally for pushing 30 years now, and one thing I’ve learned is that what is for you is for you and what is not is not. For whatever reason, that project is not for me. If they wanted to do it, we would’ve done it. So I have to move on, and I have moved on. Again, you had me under contract, they have billions of dollars, if they wanted to do the movie, we would’ve done the movie. So we’re not doing the movie.” ©Variety The quote was posted by Variety via Instagram, and fans weren’t happy as well. @ruffdraft commented, “This is such a loss — Marvel had a great opportunity with a generational talent and a storyline that proved itself long before Marvel had a successful movie pipeline.” ©Andscape Other people recognize that the movie may have been bound for failure based on the lack of commitment. @doumbot said, “He dodged a bullet. It’s pretty clear that whatever scripts they had were terrible or they would have made the movie.” ©Marvel This isn’t the only Marvel cancellation that has been announced this year. In fact, just a few days ago it was announced that Wonder Man is no longer in the works, despite the success of season 1. Wonder Man premiered on Disney+ and quickly became a Marvel TV hit. The first season gained a 91% score on Rotten Tomatoes from critics. Disney eventually announced a second season for the series before changing their mind that a season 2 of Wonder Man is no longer on the table. ©Disney With all the big stuff happening with Marvel, specifically with Spider-Man and Avengers: Doomsday, maybe there wasn’t a better time to announce cancellations. It stinks to not get a Blade movie, and who knows if we ever will. Maybe a Blade movie comes out in the future when the MCU resets.
