  3. Halloween Horror Nights is OFFICIALLY underway at Universal Orlando, but it’s not just Universal Studios park that goes all out for this once-a-year event! Universal Orlando Halloween That’s right, even Universal Orlando hotels get decked out for spooky season, and some of them even have themed bars, drinks, eats, and the whole nine yards. We were invited by Universal to check out some of the Halloween offerings at their hotels, and we think we know where we’ll be spending spooky season from now on. Come check out everything we did! Halloween Horror Nights isn’t the only place at Universal Orlando to celebrate Halloween, as each of Universal’s hotels (aside from Helios Grand) features a special spooky offering that you don’t even need a park ticket or hotel reservation to enjoy. We stopped by the Royal Pacific Hotel’s Laguna Lounge — and this is the Halloween tiki bar of our dreams! Look who’s serving drinks! This limited-time lounge has taken over Jake’s American Bar and features a ton of Universal Monsters theming, plus Halloween drinks and food, too. If you are a Universal Monsters fan, this tiki bar is for you. It was so fun to see favorite Universal Monsters characters around the bar and disguised as tiki characters. Jake’s American Bar has been transformed We tried the Blood Moon Spritzer, which was a cool presentation; overall, it tasted like plain prosecco, with hard pomegranate seeds. It was refreshing but probably a skip if you’re looking for something more exciting. Blood Moon Spritzer The Black Sand Margarita was delicious, and it tasted like they used fresh ingredients, very orange-forward; we definitely would get this again as it was one of our favorite drinks of the afternoon. Black Sand Margarita The Spiced Island Spirit Mule mostly tasted like cinnamon and orange club soda, but it had a ton of fall flavors we really liked. Spiced Island Spirit Mule The Haunted Hideaway Buffalo Dip was absolutely delicious: creamy, cheesy, and the perfect amount of spice. They smoke the chicken, which gives the dip a nice smoky flavor that balances everything out nicely. The tortilla chips were nice and salty like any other tortilla chip, but they complemented the dip nicely. Haunted Hideaway Buffalo Dip The Kettle Chips were house-made kettle chips, crunchy and fresh, with a little bit of salt and pepper. Delicious, but again, nothing to write home about. These are served with the Cursed Luau Burger. Kettle Chips You can also order Halloween Horror Nights-themed food and drinks to your hotel room for room service at the Royal Pacific Hotel! Over at the Aventura Hotel, we headed to barVentura to see their Halloween offerings. The theming here wasn’t quite as elaborate as the theming at Royal Pacific, but it was still fun! There was an overall alien theme, and many of the food and drink offerings followed that theme as well. Aventura Hotel theming We tried the Alien Abduction, which was very Chambord-forward, while the vanilla flavor from the vodka is very subtle, with a bubbly berry flavor throughout each sip. This reminded us of a white bubbly sangria, and it was light and refreshing. Alien Abduction The Caffeinated Coven tasted like a very strong pumpkin foam cold brew in the best way. The flavor was delicious, with the perfect amount of cinnamon and pumpkin. The foam on top was a nice change from a traditional creamy espresso martini; it melts into the drink beautifully. Caffeinated Coven Resort guests also have a special, dedicated entrance to Halloween Horror Nights, which is just another reason why staying at Universal hotels during Halloween Horror Nights is an amazing option. Halloween Horror Nights We’ll be on the lookout for even more spooky season news you need to know about at Universal Orlando and beyond. 7. One big change has been rolling out around Disney World recently. Do you know what it is? Disney’s Hollywood Studios If you guessed the new trash cans, you would be correct! In recent weeks, the Disney parks have been updating trash cans pair by pair to introduce new, solar-powered models. These high-tech cans have been a bit controversial among trash can die-hard fans so far, and now they’ve arrived in a new spot. The first sets of new trash cans have now arrived in Hollywood Studios! We spotted a pair of these solar-powered compacting cans on Hollywood Boulevard, right before you enter the new Walt Disney Studios area. This is a high-traffic zone, so it makes sense that they’d add some of these updated cans here. They’re in Hollywood Studios! Each set of these trash cans that we’ve seen have been themed to the area where they reside. These say “Please Help Keep Our City Clean” and feature a graphic of the Chinese Theatre, so they definitely have that Hollywood vibe going on. They’re bright green, so you can’t miss them! What do you think? As we mentioned before, these trash cans are solar powered so that they can compact the trash inside, meaning Cast Members can empty them less frequently. They also have foot pedals to open the doors, so you don’t have to touch the opening with your hands. New trash cans! We’ve already seen these cans in Animal Kingdom and EPCOT. They caused a particular stir in EPCOT for longtime festival fans, since eating on a trash can during EPCOT festivals is kind of a Disney fan rite of passage. Some more uniquely-designed trash cans in Disney World have also gotten their own “fan clubs” so swapping them out has resulted in angry commentary on social media. New trash cans at Animal Kingdom We’ll keep you in the loop with any more trash can news, so subscribe to our newsletter and follow us on social media. See More About the New Trash Cans Here! 8. Disney World is a BIG place, and that means that it takes a lot of work to keep it up and running in tip-top shape. While seeing construction on your trip can take you out of the magic a little bit, it ultimately leads to new improvements that enhance the overall vacation experience. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort And, sure, construction can certainly complicate things, but that’s why we keep up with all of the projects so you can be prepared ahead of your next trip. Over at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, there’s a new way to enter by car, and it can be a little confusing if you’re not prepared for it. Here’s everything we know! The Grand Floridian hotel has a new entrance — sort of. The actual entrance gate is the same, but instead of using the southern roundabout on Floridan Way to get there, guests are rerouted to the northern roundabout. There is a “Grand Floridian Turn Right” sign before the roundabout, but it can be confusing if you don’t know what you’re looking for. Grand Floridian entrance gate There is still quite a bit of construction, especially near the new roundabouts and the entrance gates themselves. While you can enter through the normal, main gate, the exit is blocked off, and guests are being rerouted to a different exit. When we spoke to a Cast Member in the lobby of the Grand Floridian, they said that the northern roundabout will be the new entrance, and that they are hoping for the construction to be complete by mid-October. You can see on this view of Apple Maps of the area that it states construction will be complete by October 22nd. Of course, this could change, and we’ll keep you updated on any news we find out. ©Apple The new Floridian Way roundabouts were constructed in conjunction with updates to World Drive, designed to improve traffic control around Magic Kingdom and the Magic Kingdom resort area. As of now, the construction might be making things a bit more complicated, but hopefully when it’s all done, these traffic improvements will finally come to fruition. There’s also some Monorail construction going on at the Grand Floridian, but luckily the Monorail is still running to this resort — if that changes, we’ll let you know! Grand Floridian Monorail station construction We’ll be on the lookout for additional updates about this construction and more Disney World hotel news. 9. If there’s one thing we know about Amazon, it’s that the activewear section never sits still for long. ©Shutterstock Just when we think we’ve found our go-to leggings or the perfect throw-on-and-go jacket, a whole new lineup shows up and completely resets our wishlist. This time, it’s a matching two-piece set that’s giving us major “pack it for the parks, wear it for the gym, live in it on travel days” energy — and we’re not exaggerating when we say we need it in every color. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Get this new set on Amazon! ©Amazon This set pairs a zip-up long-sleeve jacket with high-waisted leggings, so you get a coordinated look without having to actually coordinate anything yourself. That’s the kind of easy win we’re always here for, whether you’re getting ready for an early rope-drop walk, heading to a workout class, or just running errands before a trip. The two pieces are designed to work together (and separately), so you’re really getting more mileage out of one purchase — always a plus when we’re trying to stretch our shopping budget a little further. ©Amazon The jacket is the star of the top half, with a full-zip front and long sleeves that make it easy to layer up or cool down depending on how the day (or the Florida humidity) is treating you. Little details like a fitted collar and thumbhole cuffs help it feel more polished than your average zip-up, so it doesn’t read as “gym only” — you could easily throw it on over a tank for a park day without feeling like you forgot to get dressed. ©Amazon Then there are the leggings, which lean into that high-waisted, shaping fit that’s become the standard for this style of activewear. They’re built to stay put through a long day of walking (or a long workout, if that’s more your speed), with a supportive waistband that doesn’t dig in or roll down. Basically, this is the kind of set that looks put-together in photos but still lets you comfortably power through 20,000 steps — which, if you ask us, is the real test of any good activewear. The best part is the price, which you won’t believe! view ON AMAZON We’re always on the hunt for the latest and greatest Disney souvenirs and essentials, so don’t forget to stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for more! 10. Everyone is heading over to Disney’s Hollywood Studios because The Magic of Disney Animation is finally open at the Walt Disney Studios. The Magic of Disney Animation What was once Star Wars: Launch Bay has now officially been turned into The Magic of Disney Animation, which is inspired by Walt Disney Animation Studios and the Roy E. Disney Animation Building. The building features Mickey’s famous Sorcerer Hat on top, and inside you’ll find a bunch of unique experiences that we can’t wait to try! Are you ready to step inside with us? This updated building is located in the Walt Disney Studios area of the park, the courtyard of which was refreshed and reopened a few months ago. In the area, you’ll also find Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! show and The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure show. Disney also moved the Hollywood Studios Baby Care Center to this land. The Walt Disney Studios Of course, though, the big highlight here is The Magic of Disney Animation, which opens officially on September 14th. We got the chance to get a sneak peek during a media event, and we’re taking you inside for the first time! The hat lights up at night! When you first walk under the marquee, you’ll find stroller parking on your left for the whole courtyard. This area is covered and shaded so your strollers will be safe in the rain. They’ve also replaced the old Star Wars artwork that was in here with stills from Disney animated films. Inside Stroller Parking After stroller parking, you’ll be greeted by this adorable photo op with characters from Disney films welcoming you to the Animation Studios. Make sure to stop and grab a family photo! Welcome to the Open House! Thankfully, there’s a map to help you find your way around The Magic of Disney Animation! There are a few main sections throughout. The map! When Disney first announced The Magic of Disney Animation, they said the new building will let you into the studio, “as the animators have temporarily stepped away,” and characters come to life and take over! Reception area This experience draws its inspiration from the Disney short Once Upon A Studio, which you’ll find on Disney+. Like the short, The Magic of Animation has its own moments in galleries where portraits come to life like they do in the short. Welcome to the Gallery! Just make sure you stand and watch for a minute to catch them moving! Portraits that come to life Throughout this building, there are dozens of fun hidden details to be on the lookout for. The lost and found is one of our favorites! Lost & Found Once you explore some of the outside and the galleries, there are experiences that are presented in four key areas in the building. We were very excited when Disney shared the floor plan a while back, and now we finally get to explore all those areas. So, let’s go! Olaf Draws Olaf Draws is a class where you can learn how to draw iconic Disney animated characters, led by the beloved snowman from Frozen in animatronic form. He sits at an animator’s desk, just like he does in the short film that the area is inspired by! Olaf Draws In Olaf Draws, each class features a different character! You may sketch any of the following in the class: Mickey Mouse, with Dan Abraham, director (Once Upon A Studio, Baymax!) Minnie Mouse, with Hyun Min Lee, animator (Frozen 2, The Princess and the Frog) Donald Duck, with Austin Traylor, animator (Once Upon A Studio, Moana 2) Genie, with Eric Goldberg, animator (Aladdin, Hercules) Moana, with Samantha Vilfort, story artist (Encanto, Zootopia 2) Stitch, with Fawn Veerasunthorn, director and head of story (Wish, Raya and the Last Dragon) Olaf, with Trent Correy, director (Once Upon A Studio, Frozen 3) Ursula, with Michael Woodside, animator (Big Hero 6, Encanto) Judy Hopps & Nick Wilde, with Byron Howard director, (Zootopia, Zootopia 2) How’s our Stitch? There are desks with stools throughout the area, which makes this space feel really intentional and put together, instead of just sitting in regular chairs with lap desks. Near the front of the room, there are sleigh-themed seats designed as a space for parents and small children to sit to get a better view. Olaf Draws desks If you want to attend this drawing class, there will be a schedule posted outside the entrance with times for each day. Disney Character Greetings at “Off the Page” Off the Page is where guests will meet beloved Disney characters across “six unique departments from the animation studio.” The departments include Story, Layout, Hand-Drawn Animation, Computer Animation, Lighting, and Effects. It’s Mulan! Some of the characters you can meet here include: Mulan in Story (posing in front of an oversized storyboard panel) Rapunzel in Layout ( in “a setting inspired by the classic multiplane camera”) Chip n’ Dale in Hand-Drawn Animation Off the Page! Donald and Daisy in CG Animation Goofy in Lighting This background is so cute! Stitch in Effects Hey Stitch! We love the chance to do character meet and greets indoors and in the air conditioning! Drawn to Wonderland Playground The Drawn to Wonderland Playground is an indoor play area featuring an “oversized flower garden with musical instruments, a Mad Tea Party playset, and a Tugley Wood exploration area.” So cool! This space was SERIOUSLY so cool for little kids, with funky lighting and fun sets to explore. Drawn to Wonderland Hollywood Studios has been missing a play area for several years now, so this will be an ideal space for kids to run off some energy in the middle of a day stuck in the stroller or waiting in lines. The Tugley Woods at Drawn to Wonderland Each of the activities here are immaculately themed to Alice in Wonderland. You can even paint the roses white or red! So fun! We know this is going to be a beloved addition for the parents and littles alike! The Once Upon A Studio Theater We mentioned Once Upon a Studio earlier; well, you can actually watch it here at the Once Upon A Studio Theater. The short film is so heartwarming, and if you’re a hardcore Disney fan, we highly recommend stopping by to watch it. Once Upon a Studio Shows will run throughout the day. The Studio Store Of course, there’s one more spot we need to check out! The Studio Store is the new gift shop next door. Let’s go inside! There’s a good selection of items in here, including apparel, accessories, toys, and home goods. Lots of clothing items However, we did notice some new things we wanted to highlight, like these Animation-inspired ears! LOVE these There’s an adorable matching shirt with Mickey Mouse, Dumbo, Donald, and more. The shirt! If you like that style, you’ll want to snag this blanket as well! They’re quite soft and they have some RARE Disney characters on them. Cute blanket! And of course, we can’t fail to mention this tumbler that feels very “Ink & Paint” in its design. A tumbler! We’re so excited that this new experience almost open, and we can’t wait to keep exploring it! For more of the latest Disney news and updates, make sure to stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog. 11. Engineering challenges. House building. Back-to-school surprises. On July 31, students from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Coachella Valley, spent the day creating, collaborating and problem solving at the Children’s Discovery Museum of the Desert, just a few miles from Cotino, Storyliving by Disney’s first community in Rancho Mirage, California. The STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) experience, made possible by Storyliving by Disney, marked the third year of support for the museum and the local Boys & Girls Clubs programming. The event is part of Disney’s longstanding commitment to Boys & Girls Clubs of America, one of The Walt Disney Company’s most enduring nonprofit partners. For more than 50 years, Disney and Boys & Girls Clubs have worked together to help young people discover their potential, explore new opportunities, and build skills for the future. Click the image above to watch the video on the Storyliving by Disney’s Instagram The Experiment! That mission came to life in the Coachella Valley as kids from the Rancho Mirage area stepped into the role of engineers, inventors and problem-solvers during a hands-on Rube Goldberg challenge inside the museum’s Inquiry Lab. The space is equipped with a variety of STEAM activity materials funded by Storyliving by Disney such as 3D printers, a laser cutter and more. Working in teams, students tested ideas, refined designs, and celebrated every breakthrough. Their challenge: design a future home inspired by the Parr House that was both energy-efficient and accessible, then create a Rube Goldberg machine capable of opening its front door. “We started chatting a lot and played games. It was a lot of fun to build a pool, a little house, and make our door open,” said a fifth-grader team captain. The event also showcased the power of community collaboration. Through its partnership with the Children’s Discovery Museum of the Desert and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Coachella Valley, Storyliving by Disney is helping create more opportunities for young people to engage with STEAM learning year-round. “One of the best parts of this day was knowing the learning doesn’t stop when the event ends,” said Cindy Burreson, President and CEO of the Children’s Discovery Museum of the Desert. “Through partnerships like this, we’re not only introducing kids to new experiences, but giving them a reason to come back and keep exploring.” For Dr. Quinton Egson, President and CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Coachella Valley, the event represented something even bigger. “Partnerships enable us to move the needle in the community and help us help our kids reach their full potential. At the Boys and Girls Clubs we talk a lot about the three E’s; Education, experience and exposure and we’re hitting all three today on a big level. These partnerships are changing the community,” said Dr. Egington. The Surprise! The learning didn’t end when the activities were over. To help continue the spirit of discovery beyond the field trip, students were surprised with complimentary annual passes provided by Storyliving by Disney, giving them the opportunity to return and explore the museum alongside family and friends — extending their learning all year long. Storyliving by Disney also provided the children with backpacks filled with school supplies donated through Disney’s back-to-school initiative. 40 backpacks were assembled by Cotino cast members from across the community, who came together to help local students start the school year prepared for success. “It was the generosity and the enthusiasm of the cast members that drove the opportunity to pack the backpacks. It was incredibly rewarding for the cast members and VoluntEARS to support the local community,” said Cotino General Manager and Children’s Discovery Museum of the Desert Board Member, Anthony Henry. Complete with school essentials and a few Disney-themed surprises, the gifts reflected Disney’s ongoing commitment to supporting youth and giving back to the communities it calls home. “The backpack and school supplies were a big surprise for me. There were a little Minnie and Mickey Mouse figures in there. I really love Disney!” said one enthusiastic eighth grade student. “I was really excited about the membership, because I was going to ask my mom to come again. 12. Most theme parks aren’t known for having good food, but there is one that stands out among the rest… Dollywood! CINNAMON BREAD! We recently stopped at this popular Tennessee theme park and grabbed a few bites at a couple of different places. Come with us to Front Porch Cafe and Till & Harvest Food Hall to see what we thought about our dishes! Front Porch Cafe Located on Showstreet, Front Porch Cafe is a table-service spot serving up appetizers, salads, sandwiches, signature entrees, and desserts inspired by some of Dolly’s favorite meals! And, of course, there’s something for the kiddos, too, with kids’ meals available for guests ages 9 and younger. Front Porch Cafe We couldn’t resist trying the Butterfly Chicken Club for $16.99! This sandwich comes piled high with marinated grilled chicken breast, smoked Gouda, bacon, leaf lettuce, beefsteak tomato, and chipotle aioli, all served on a fun butterfly-shaped pretzel. Butterfly Chicken Sandwich And when they say it’s served on a butterfly-shaped pretzel, they mean it! We’re talking TWO full-sized, actual pretzels (not pretzel bread), making for a seriously eye-catching sandwich. While they certainly look fun, the size of the pretzels did make this one a little tricky to eat. That said, the pretzels themselves were surprisingly good and definitely a step above the typical theme park pretzel. As for the grilled chicken, it wasn’t bad by any means, but it didn’t exactly steal the show. The chicken was well prepared and stayed nice and juicy, though we think it could have used a little more seasoning to give the sandwich some extra flavor. Butterfly Chicken Sandwich We felt pretty much the same way about the chipotle aioli. There was a generous amount of sauce on the sandwich, but we had a hard time picking up much of that signature chipotle kick. Of course, everyone’s palate is different, so you may notice more heat than we did! Our advice? Ask for the aioli on the side so you can add as much (or as little) as you’d like. The real standout for us was the smoked Gouda. It melted beautifully over the chicken and added a much-needed boost of flavor to the sandwich. And that smoky flavor? It almost made the whole thing feel a little gourmet! Butterfly Chicken Sandwich The bacon was cooked just right, while the lettuce and tomato brought a nice bit of freshness to the sandwich. You can choose between fries, potato chips, or a salad for your side, and we went with the house-made potato chips. These had the perfect crunch — not burnt, not soggy, and just the right amount of crisp! We also loved that they weren’t overly salty, giving them plenty of flavor without overpowering the sandwich. Butterfly Chicken Sandwich We also decided to try the Vegan Steak for $21.99. This hearty plant-based entree comes with sweet potato puree, red onion marmalade, and oven-roasted mushrooms for a flavorful combination. We found this to feel much more like a short rib than a steak — the plant-based “meat” was incredibly tender, with pieces easily pulling apart with just a fork. It was also very juicy and packed with flavor. Vegan Steak The combination worked especially well with the sweet butternut squash puree, rich roasted mushrooms, and flavorful onion jam, creating a really satisfying bite from start to finish. Overall, Front Porch Cafe is a great option if you’re looking for a reasonably priced meal with a cozy, welcoming feel. The food is high quality, while the bright, clean surroundings give the restaurant a slightly more upscale atmosphere. Since Dollywood doesn’t offer advance dining reservations, we recommend planning your meal outside of peak dining times and checking in early to help avoid a longer wait. Front Porch Cafe Till & Harvest Food Hall We also stopped by Till & Harvest Food Hall in Wildwood Grove, where you’ll find a variety of classic American favorites. We started with the Smoky Mountain Nachos for $13.99, featuring red, white, and dark blue corn chips piled high with chicken, barbecue sauce, shredded cheese, and pico de gallo. The barbecue sauce definitely leaned toward the sweeter side, with a flavor pretty similar to the classic bottled BBQ sauce you’d find at your local grocery store. Smoky Mountain Nachos This chicken was anything but dry and rubbery — it was cooked very well, like most of the chicken you’ll find around the theme park! We also LOVED the generous amount of cheese on these nachos! It was spread throughout the dish so well that we got plenty of cheesy goodness in every bite. The pico de gallo added a nice pop of freshness without making the chips soggy, which is always a win when it comes to nachos. Overall, there was a lot of flavor happening here, and all of the toppings worked really well together. Smoky Mountain Nachos We also decided to try an off-menu item: The Vegan Burger for $15.49. This comes with a Beyond Burger served completely undressed on a roll that has the look and feel of a brioche bun, with a smooth top and surprisingly good quality. All of the toppings and condiments were served on the side, which we really appreciated. It’s a small detail, but it shows that Dollywood takes dietary restrictions seriously and gives guests more control over what goes on their meal. Vegan Burger The toppings on the side included lettuce, tomato, onions, and pickles, and the condiments included Dollywood’s signature barbecue sauce, ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise (for those who are not plant-based), and relish. Salt and pepper also came on the side. The kitchen also asked if we wanted cheese added, which gives an option for vegetarians. Vegan Burger As for the Beyond Burger itself, this was a pretty substantial patty and noticeably larger than some of the vegan burgers we’ve had at Disney World. The flavor was pretty standard for a Beyond patty, so we added a couple of salt packets to give it a little extra flavor. The fresh toppings definitely helped brighten things up. The burger comes with crinkle-cut fries, and you may want to grab a salt packet for those as well. We took things one step further and dipped ours in the Dollywood Classic Barbecue, and it was delicious! Vegan Burger Since it’s an off-menu item, you’ll need to head to the register to order it. But don’t worry — this isn’t some secret menu item you’ll have to explain to the cashier. The host knew exactly what we were talking about when we ordered it! Till & Harvest Food Hall The Dollywood Classic Barbecue Sauce was definitely vinegar-forward, but it still had a touch of sweetness that gave it an interesting flavor. It actually reminded us a little of macaroni salad or coleslaw! Compared to a classic Heinz barbecue sauce, Dollywood’s version is thinner, less sweet, and much more vinegar-heavy. It may not be a flavor you’re used to, but since it’s a Dollywood recipe, we think it’s worth giving it a try! Dollywood Classic Barbecue Sauce We’d recommend stopping by Till & Harvest Food Hall if you want a high-quality meal without committing to a full table-service experience. There’s plenty to choose from, too, including chicken tenders, salads, and loaded fries, so there’s something for just about everyone! Till & Harvest Food Hall And what’s a day at Dollywood without dessert? Be sure to grab yourself the Cinnamon Bread or exclusive flavor of Dippin’ Dots to end your day right! 17. There are SO many rules for traveling through an airport that it’s hard to keep track of them all! Orlando International Airport Bag weights and size restrictions, acceptable forms of ID, and the ideal time to arrive for your flight can change from airport to airport. And don’t even get us started on TSA — shoes on or off, laptop in the bag or out, toiletries packaged HOW? It’s a confusing experience many times. But now, TSA is considering changing a major rule for select travelers. According to ABC, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is considering letting some passengers bring bottles of water through security. The current rule is that liquids and bottles must be emptied or thrown away before security. Little Mermaid Owala This move would be part of the new TSA PreCheck lanes that are being introduced soon, so it would not apply to all guests, just those with TSA PreCheck. Officials say that the lanes are going to have new technology like facial recognition, meaning you wouldn’t be required to show a boarding pass as you go through. Other new technology for these lanes includes 3D luggage and body scanners. MCO TSA Precheck TSA has also reported recently that the rules and limits surrounding the size of liquids, like toiletries, may change. Currently, the limit is 3.4 oz of any liquid, and those liquids must fit in a quart-sized bag. ©Amazon Another offering that TSA is currently rolling out is the Gateside Program, which allows those with TSA PreCheck to go through security and wait at the gate for their loved ones to arrive. To use this, you need to apply one to three days ahead of time and then you would have access to shopping, dining, and the airport gates past security. It’s currently available at 13 airports around the country. MCO airport ABC says that the new PreCheck lanes will take about a year to roll out, so we’ll keep an eye out for more news before then. We’ll let you know if there are more official announcements from TSA directly. Learn More About the Gateside Program Here! Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! 24. The Halloween season rolls on through October at the Magic Kingdom, culminating in the holiday itself, with the Christmas season right around the corner, all leading to some big changes to Disney World’s original theme parks. Halloween at Disney World The month sees the end of one seasonal event, gets ready to transform into another, and race weekend crowds all combining to affect the Magic Kingdom’s offerings and operating hours. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is one of Disney World’s most popular seasonal events, as the spooky spectacular’s offerings of candy, treats, and Halloween-themed characters, entertainment, and theming have all become fall traditions for many. The event even allows guests over 13 to wear a costume (as long as they follow the rules) inside the Magic Kingdom, a treat that’s usually reserved for guests 13 and under during Disney’s normal operating rules. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party 2026 October 2026 will see the event presented on the following days: October 1st, 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, 9th, 13th, 15th, 16th, 18th, 22nd, 23rd, 25th, 27th, 29th, and of course Halloween itself, the 31st. However, guests without party tickets on those days must remember that the park will be closing to non-party guests at 6 PM, though they’ll still be able to enjoy the many Halloween decorations that will be up in the park during the month. These Are the Accessories Everyone Will Have at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party This Year Keep an Eye Out for Christmas While the Halloween season and party dates run all the way until October 31st, elements of the Christmas season will begin sneaking in certain places as the month comes to an end, before the bulk of decorations goes up just after Halloween, so keep an eye out for the encroaching holiday Season. It’ll be here before you know it… This Popular Lounge Will Be OPEN During Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party! Diamond Horseshoe Changes During the Cool KIDS’ Summer promotion — which ended in September — Disney brought live entertainment back to the Diamond Horseshoe for the first time in decades with a Jessie-themed Toy Story show. Disney is changing the restaurant yet again. Beginning October 4th, The Diamond Horseshoe is transforming into a limited-time pop-up experience. Reservations for the pop-up will open on September 29th, and we’re sure it’s going to be an extremely popular spot! ©Disney The new menu recently dropped for the pop-up, and these were some of the items we were most excited about: Charcuterie: Cured beef, candied bacon, smoked pork, green chile cheese, smoked cheddar, and pickles Glazed Sticky Ribs with cowboy beans and jalapeño crisps Queso Fundido with Barbecue Burnt Ends with warm tortilla chips Sweet Golden Corn Fritters with cilantro ranch dressing and red chili honey Chipotle Chicken Tostada with queso fresco, lime crema, and pickled cactus salsa Mini Hot Dog Platter: Wrapped in pastry, served with tortilla chips and a side of queso ©Disney You can pair those menu items with a cocktail: Whinnyin’ Whiskey Lemonade: Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey, Aperol liqueur, strawberry purée, Minute Maid Premium Lemonade, and basil Cactus Rose Margarita: LALO Blanco Tequila, prickly pear, lime, and agave High Plains Huckleberry: 44° North Mountain Huckleberry Vodka, crème de cassis liqueur, lemon juice, and cranberry Rattler Rum Punch: Bacardí Superior Rum, orange, pineapple, lime, and passion fruit, garnished with a sweet-and-spicy rim Coal’d Fashioned: Buffalo Trace Kentucky Straight Bourbon, Mr. Black Cold Brew Coffee Liqueur, cinnamon syrup, orange bitters, and Angostura bitters Seasonal Cocktail: In Holiday Fashion: Buffalo Trace Kentucky Straight Bourbon, rosemary syrup, cranberry, and cinnamon ©Disney NEW MENU REVEALED for Magic Kingdom Restaurant Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend Crowds From October 22nd through the 25th, runDisney aficionados will descend upon the resort for the 2026 Wine & Dine Half Marathon. While the bulk of the festivities are centered in the EPCOT area, the Magic Kingdom will likely see increased crowds that weekend. ©Disney October 2026 brings a slew of changes to the Magic Kingdom, as the park prepares for the final quarter of the year. 28. The DFB team is in the Disney World parks every day, and we know how to spot an expert! Ear Holder There’s a certain look you start to notice in the parks after a few trips — it’s not a matching family tee or a costume. Instead, it’s a very specific combination of gear that quietly says “I’ve done this before.” Spot someone strolling down Main Street U.S.A. wearing all the right pieces, and you’re looking at a bona fide Disney World veteran. Here’s exactly what that expert-level outfit looks like, piece by piece, and where to snag each item for yourself. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. 1. Comfortable Shoes ©Amazon It all starts with the shoes, and if yours are the New Balance Women’s Fresh Foam X 880v15 Running Shoe, we already know you’ve either done your research or learned the hard way on a previous trip. Disney days regularly rack up 15,000+ steps on pavement that holds heat like a skillet, and a shoe built for actual mileage makes the difference between “let’s ride one more thing” and “I need to sit down immediately.” The Fresh Foam cushioning is the kind of detail rookies overlook, and experts build their whole day around. view ON AMAZON 2. Wicking Fabrics ©Amazon Next, the shirt — and true park insiders have long since ditched cotton tees for something like the Quenteen Women’s Short Sleeve Workout Shirt. Florida humidity doesn’t care about your outfit plans, and a moisture-wicking, breathable top means you’re not hauling around a sweat-soaked shirt by 11 a.m. It’s a small swap that makes a genuinely huge difference on a 95-degree day in the Magic Kingdom. view ON AMAZON 3. Shorts That Don’t Move ©Amazon Underneath it all, experts know the real secret to a chafe-free day of walking is a solid base layer, and the wirarpa Women’s Cotton Shorts (4 Pack) is the unsung hero here. Anti-chafing, soft, and designed to actually stay put through hours of walking and ride transfers, these are the kind of practical purchase nobody talks about, but everyone with sore thighs wishes they’d made sooner. view ON AMAZON 4. An Ear Hanger Our Eybila Ear Holder! For the ears you’re not currently wearing, clip on the Eybila 2Pcs Mouse Ear Holder for Backpack — a personal favorite we actually own and use. Instead of shoving your extra ears into your bag where they get crushed, this little clip keeps them displayed and protected on the outside, ready for the next photo op or costume change. view ON AMAZON 5. A Good Hat ©Amazon Sun protection is non-negotiable for a full park day, and the Disney Mickey Mouse Dad Hat checks every box: shade for your face, a curved brim that won’t look weird in photos, and just enough Disney flair to fit right in without trying too hard. It’s the hat you’ll see on repeat once you start paying attention because it can go with any outfit. view ON AMAZON 6. Reusable Poncho Frogg Toggs Poncho When the inevitable Florida afternoon storm rolls through, seasoned visitors are not scrambling for the flimsy plastic poncho from the gift shop. They already have the FROGG TOGGS Ultra-lite2 Waterproof Rain Poncho tucked in their bag. It’s breathable, genuinely reusable, and packs down small enough that there’s no excuse not to carry it every single day, rain in the forecast or not. view ON AMAZON 7. A Good Bag ©Amazon The Loungefly Disney Mickey Ears Sling Bag is the pick if you want something compact and unmistakably on-theme. It’s made from nylon with an appliqued pair of Mickey ears front and center, and the two sides each carry their own little detail — an embroidered Mickey silhouette on one, an appliqued version of his white glove on the other. A detachable coin pouch tucks inside for loose change or a hair tie. The hardware is gold-toned, and the strap is both adjustable and detachable, so it’s small enough to stay out of your way. view ON AMAZON ©Amazon The Loungefly Disney Minnie Mouse Black Sequin Double Strap Shoulder Bag is the move if you’re dressing up for a special day in the parks. The whole exterior is covered in black sequins, with Minnie’s ears and signature bow worked into the design, and it’s finished with a front zip pocket, adjustable straps, and a top carry handle for when you want to switch it up from crossbody to hand-carried. It runs compact while having plenty of room for a phone, ID, and MagicBand, not much more. view ON AMAZON ©Amzon And the BAGGU Medium Nylon Crescent Bag is for the minimalists. It’s a half-moon-shaped bag made from recycled heavyweight nylon with a ripstop nylon lining, so it’s sturdy but still lightweight on a long park day, and it holds noticeably more than it looks like it should — two interior zip pockets and an internal key leash keep the small stuff from disappearing into the bottom. The strap is long and adjustable enough to wear crossbody or over one shoulder. It’s machine washable, and the clean, no-logo look means it’s easy to wipe down. view ON AMAZON 8. Good Socks Disney Socks! And finally, don’t sleep on the socks — a pair from the Cartoon Character Series Licensed Socks Collection, which we also own and swear by, stays put inside your shoes instead of bunching up around mile eight. Slipping socks are a fast track to blisters, and a pair that actually holds its position is one of those tiny upgrades that makes a huge difference by the end of a long park day. view ON AMAZON We’re always on the hunt for the latest and greatest Disney souvenirs and essentials, so don’t forget to stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for more!
