  2. Asteria, Storyliving by Disney’s second community coming to Pittsboro, North Carolina, recently brought a little extra Disney magic to the celebration of Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Carolina’s 30th anniversary. Mickey Mouse and Storyliving by Disney joined local children, families and community leaders to celebrate both the Pittsboro Club’s fifth anniversary and Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Carolina’s remarkable 30-year legacy of serving the community. The day began with remarks from the Mayor of Pittsboro and Board Chair of the Pittsboro Boys & Girls Club, Kyle Shipp, where Storyliving presented him with a Mickey Mouse statuette. Storyliving by Disney also announced an initial investment of $30,000 to celebrate 30 years of impactful work by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Carolina. The donation will help fund out-of-school-time programming that promotes academic success, wellbeing and workforce development, empowering young people with the tools, experiences and support they need to build bright futures and achieve their goals. The biggest surprise of all made the anniversary celebration extra special. Mickey Mouse joined the festivities, spending time with kids and families, dancing, taking photos and spreading Disney magic throughout the day. “It is very exciting to have Storyliving by Disney here supporting our organization. To know they are stepping in as a partner and being here for us on our 30th anniversary of our organization is amazing,” said Dr. Fallon Brewington, CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Carolina. The whole celebration was filled with Disney magic that brought so much joy and laughter. This event was just the beginning of many unforgettable memories that Disney and the community of Pittsboro will make together. “Being part of a community means supporting the people and organizations that help make it special,” said Claire Bilby, SVP and GM of Storyliving by Disney. “As we look toward the future of Asteria in Pittsboro, we’re excited to build connections in the community and recognize and enhance the important work organizations like Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Carolina has already been doing.” While Asteria continues to take shape, Storyliving by Disney is proud to be part of the Pittsboro and greater Chatham County community. Supporting organizations that create pathways for youth to learn, grow, and succeed reflects a commitment to investing in the people who help shape the regions’ future. See how Storyliving by Disney surprise the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Carolina families with a special visit from Mickey Mouse over on Instagram! It was truly an unforgettable day. 5. We hate to tell you this, but Magic Kingdom doesn’t always have the best food. Eek! We said it. For some reason, this park lacks some of the iconic dishes other parks have, but when you’re in the most famous park, you still have to eat. That’s why we’re here! We’ve eaten everywhere in Magic Kingdom and beyond, and we’re sharing a few places you might want to hit up on your trip. Let’s eat! This time, we’re heading to Tony’s Town Square Restaurant in Magic Kingdom. Okay, we have to admit, this isn’t generally our favorite restaurant of all time. While it has some solid options, we prefer other, more unique restaurants like Cinderella’s Royal Table or Be Our Guest. But with a new menu item, is it worth another visit? Let’s find out! First up, we grabbed Tony’s Garlic Bread for the Table for $14. It’s toasted ciabatta with roasted garlic butter and parmesan fonduta. It’s usually one of our favorites, so we couldn’t resist grabbing it again. Just because it’s not our favorite restaurant of all time doesn’t mean we don’t have our favorites! Tony’s Garlic Bread for the Table We just love this garlic bread! It’s cut into small pieces, making it easy to share, and you can dip it or pour cheese sauce over it. It does get a bit clumpy as it sits, so be ready to split it before it sits too long. The garlic flavor is baked into the bread, so it really comes through, and the sauce sticks well without being overpowering. While it’s fun to pour the sauce on top, we might recommend spreading it out or going for dipping, or the top pieces will get all the fun. Cheese sauce! We also grabbed the new Lasagna alla Bolognese for $35, which features meat sauce layered with mozzarella, ricotta, parmesan, and pecorino romano. Lasagna Alla Bolognese The main flavors are ricotta and tomato, with the ricotta coming through in most bites and the other three cheeses more subtle in the background. They complement the ricotta well and contribute to a slightly creamy texture. We thought there would be a meat sauce, as the menu described, but it’s more of a red sauce. Lasagna time Most of the meat sits at the bottom, so you have to dig a little, but that makes it a great option if you want lasagna that isn’t as heavy. The top pasta layers are firm and a bit hard to cut through, but the layers underneath are soft and chewy. Overall, this can be a good option for pickier eaters or for those who prefer milder flavors. Sometimes you want something comforting that you know you’ll like, and this might just do the trick. Cheesy bite Should you head to Tony’s? Well, if you’re looking for some Italian food while you’re in Magic Kingdom, it could do the trick! We love the cheesy bread, but we find most other options once we can get back to our local spots back home. The new lasagna was a great option with those classic flavors, and eating right on Main Street, U.S.A. is always fun. Tony’s Town Square In the meantime, keep following Disney Food Blog for more of our favorite restaurant reviews so you know where to stop on your next vacation. 6. Hanukkah is the glow-up I wait for all year long. From lighting the menorah and playing dreidel to piling my plate with latkes, sufganiyot, and any other fried food I can get my hands on, each of the eight nights brings another opportunity to celebrate tradition, togetherness, and a little friendly competition. For the record, I’m firmly Team Applesauce when it comes to latkes, but I respect the sour cream crowd. This year, you can make the Festival of Lights even brighter with new apparel, home décor, books, and collectibles inspired by Mickey Mouse & Friends, Star Wars, Super Heroes, and more. Fun, festive merch always helps me get into the Hanukkah spirit, so check out some finds that I’m especially excited to share. Hanukkah Gifts and Merch Mickey & Friends Hanukkah Books Star Wars Super Heroes Stitch Hanukkah Merch Mickey & Friends Is October too early to put out a Hanukkah throw blanket on my couch? When it’s as cute as this throw that features Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and a lit-up menorah, I say certainly not! The colorful collection also includes a coordinating mug, T-shirt, and pin, perfect for adding a little extra light to your home, wardrobe, or pin board. These items are available at select locations at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort. Mickey & Friends are celebrating eight crazy nights the best way possible: together! This new design of The Fab Five gathered around the menorah will be available on Homage October 30, and it comes in unisex tee, crewneck, women’s tee, and youth. There’s even more opportunity to match with your friends and fam with the Mickey Mouse Menorah Happy Holidays T-Shirt from Amazon Merch on Demand, which comes in adult, youth, and toddler sizes, too! They are also available on tank tops, sweatshirts, hoodies, and more of your favorite apparel pieces. My personal favorite has to be Minnie Mouse and Daisy Duck, serving looks and latkes in this cute Minnie Mouse & Daisy Duck Happy Hanukkah T-Shirt. Hanukkah Books Story time is another wonderful way to celebrate together. In Disney Baby: A Hanukkah Surprise!, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse join little readers for a playful introduction to Hanukkah traditions. For another heartwarming read, Puppy for Hanukkah (Disney Classic) follows a child who receives an adorable surprise on the first night of the holiday. Inspired by the fan-favorite song, this Little Golden Book brings music, family, and plenty of puppy love to story time. Star Wars Droid fans, let’s roll! Whether you treat dreidel as a competitive sport, or just want to show your love for R2-D2 and BB-8 while celebrating Hanukkah, the Star Wars Droid Dreidels R2-D2 and BB-8 T-Shirt  from Hot Topic and Star Wars BB-8 Lighting the Hanukkah Menorah T-Shirt from Amazon Merch on Demand will get you in the Hanukkah spirit. Here’s to hoping you land on Gimel! When the temperature drops, cozy up with even more designs inspired by a galaxy far, far away…. Choose from the Star Wars Light Saber Hanukkah Sweatshirt or the Star Wars C-3P0 Hanukkah Sweatshirt. These may be the warm layers you’re looking for. Super Heroes Hanukkah fans, assemble! In my family, after we’ve eaten latkes and lit the candles, we move over to the couch, snuggle up, and open presents. The Avengers Hanukkah Silk Touch Throw Blanket is ready for that exact mission, with a festive pattern featuring menorahs, dreidels, and Super Hero symbols. Aspiring Super Heroes can also power up their holiday wardrobes with apparel inspired by delicious Hanukkah treats and traditions, including a Dreidels & Sufganiyot Avengers Logo Pullover Hoodie and a Dreidels Sufganiyot Spider-Man T-Shirt, which comes in additional kids and adult fits, too! Stitch Hanukkah Merch Stitch may not always follow the rules, but he definitely understands the importance of good Hanukkah snacks. He’s taking a big bite out of Hanukkah in the Lilo & Stitch Hanukkah Holiday Love You a Latke T-Shirt, also available in toddler sizes for the youngest fans of Experiment 626. And the extraterrestrial fun doesn’t stop there. Stitch is also putting his own playful spin on tradition in this Funko Pop! collectible featuring everyone’s favorite blue alien mid-dreidel game. Knowing Stitch, I’d count your gelt twice after every spin. Hanukkah has always been one of my favorite times of year, filled with traditions, family, and plenty of delicious fried food. As I count down to the first candle, I love finding new ways to bring Disney magic into the celebration, and I hope these festive finds help make your Festival of Lights a little brighter, too. 7. We’re on the hunt to find the BEST hotel in Disney World to work from home at, and we’re basing it all on their coffee, their atmosphere, and their space (the number of tables and outlets available). Welcome to episode FOUR of trying to find out which Disney World hotel is the best for people who want good coffee and also want to add a little Disney magic to their workday! Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground As a writer for DFB, I have the privilege of working from home. And living close to Disney World gives me another privilege on top of that — working from the resorts! Today, we’re headed to Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds! While it may not be one of the easiest locations to visit, it’s certainly one of the most beautiful when it comes to its surroundings. Fort Wilderness Resort and Campgrounds is located on Bay Lake, just a boat ride away from the Magic Kingdom. It can either be one of the cheapest or most expensive resorts to stay at depending on the type of “room” you choose — you can either camp in your own tent in the woods or stay in a cabin. Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground It can even be a hike to get around the resort itself, which is why guests staying there have the option to rent a golf cart (or they can wait for the internal bus to come). There are several dining locations here, including the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue table-service restaurant, Trail’s End quick-service restaurant, The Chuck Wagon, Crockett’s Tavern, and Meadow Snack Bar. Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue Coffee – 4/10 Where do I even begin with the coffees (YES, plural) I had here? Let’s start off with the Strawberry Shortcake Latte. This latte is made with a single shot of espresso, your choice of milk, a strawberry puree lining the cup, wild strawberry and vanilla syrups, and topped with whipped cream, strawberry puree, and crumbled strawberry shortcake pieces. Unfortunately, the strawberry puree tasted like it had been used for the last week because I got an extremely fermented taste. Luckily, the Cast Members were nice and let me get a different latte free of charge, so I opted for the Gold Rush Latte. Gold Rush Latte This latte is made with a single shot of espresso, your choice of milk, a caramel-lined cup, and vanilla syrup, topped with whipped cream and caramel drizzle for $6.38. If you like your coffee tasting like coffee, I’d recommend getting an extra shot of espresso because there is a LOT of milk compared to the shot — so much that I couldn’t even taste the coffee at all. After a little bit, the caramel sauce that lined the cup also traveled to the bottom, so I got chunks of that when I sipped it. I’d have to give this latte a 4/10. Gold Rush Latte Atmosphere – 8/10 The atmosphere really carried the weight when it came to working at this resort. The foliage of the leaves in the trees and the sounds of wildlife and nature are just so beautiful and something that you can never go wrong with. I started my day at one of the tables outside of the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue, and I really enjoyed the light breeze (HELLO, FALL!) and sounds of nearby nature and boat horns. Outdoor Seating Other than the quick-service restaurant, there aren’t many places to work from at Fort Wilderness. I really enjoyed the western atmosphere and woodsy feel of Trail’s End, but there are many other better places to work from on property than one of their quick-service restaurants. During peak mealtimes, like lunch, it also tended to get quite busy and loud. Trail’s End Restaurant Space – 3/10 While there was plenty of seating indoors and outdoors at Fort Wilderness, what there weren’t many of was outlets. During my workday here, I found ONE outlet, and luckily, I was able to get a table near it, so I could charge my laptop! You can find this table in the back corner of Trail’s End Restaurant next to the arcade. If you have a portable laptop charger and are hoping to work from Fort Wilderness, I recommend bringing it and using it because you may not be able to snag that table. This is where you’ll find the outlet! Overall – 5/10 Based on the coffee I had, the atmosphere, and the space, Fort Wilderness Resort gets a 5/10 when it comes to working from home at the Disney resorts. While the atmosphere was great, especially when I was outside, working from the quick-service restaurant wasn’t what I had hoped for. Additionally, the coffee (my second one) was too sweet for my liking, and I like my coffee sweet! Finally, there was really no place to charge my computer other than the ONE outlet I found in Trail’s End. Here are my current rankings: BoardWalk Inn — 8/10 Coronado Springs Resort – 7/10 Polynesian Village Resort – 5/10 Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds — 5/10 And yes, I am putting it below Polynesian even though their ratings are tied. Trail’s End Restaurant We are headed to ALL of the Disney World resorts for this series, so stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for more because they’re coming real soon! 10. We know firsthand the pain of seeing something absolutely adorable in Disney World that you absolutely HAVE to have, only to look at the price tag and feel all the blood drain from your face. Yeah, we’ve been there too many times. Primark What if we told you there were spots SUPER close to the resort where you can grab Disney merchandise for much lower prices? And no, we’re not talking about heading to the nearby Goodwills to see what you can find or looking at Walmart or Target (the prices at all those spots will indeed be cheaper, but it likely won’t be what you’re looking for). Just about 20 minutes away from Disney World, there’s a HUGE store that can get you some of the cheapest souvenirs, and we still can’t believe that no one talks about it. The Florida Mall is located just about 20 minutes away from Disney World, which means it doesn’t take very long to take a rideshare there or drive your own car. Public transportation is also an option, but expect to do a decent amount of walking! Primark at the Florida Mall Primark is one of the many stores here, and while it’s home to tons of different kinds of merchandise, the Disney offerings are the real highlight. If you’re unfamiliar with the store, there’s one thing you need to know — everything is basically VERY inexpensive! This is the first Primark location in Orlando ever, seeing as the store is based in Ireland, and the prices are lower than you can imagine. We’re talking CHEAPER than Walmart and Target, but no, it’s not knock-off merchandise; it’s genuinely authentic Disney merch! Marvel merchandise You’ll find backpacks, purses, totes, Minnie ears, tons of apparel, and so much more, including merchandise themed to specific Disney franchises and films, like Marvel. We’ve even seen an entire Bambi collection before — how adorable is that? Bambi collection The store itself is massive, but the Disney section is much larger than many people expect it to be. It’s legendary, if you ask us, and we’re shocked that more people aren’t taking the trip over while they’re on vacation. We know rideshares are expensive, and they’re not ideal if you don’t have your own car, but just think — with the amount of money you’re saving on merchandise, that more than makes up for the cost of the travel to get there! ALL the Disney stuff Don’t just take it from us, though! The store has 4.3 stars with over 700 reviews on Google, and people are indeed raving about this spot. Reviewer Sarah Cross said, “Primark Orlando is such a fun store to visit, especially if you are looking for cute Disney items without paying the high prices you usually see in the parks. The top floor has a really good selection of reasonably priced Disney merchandise for both adults and kids, including Disney clothing, stuffed animals, accessories, and home items.” Stitch collection Many visitors, like Steven Díaz Zalduondo and Yadiel Cruz, mention that the store is very organized, making it easy to walk around and see what you’re interested in. There’s nothing worse than needing to dig around a store to find what you’re looking for, especially if you come out empty-handed. However, we do have to warn you that there is one downside — thanks to those extremely low prices, this store is busy nearly ALL the time. While checkout lines usually move pretty fast, you’ll certainly want to pack your patience and get ready to spend some time in the store to see all that you’re hoping to see. SO much stuff So, head on over to Primark to find some great deals on Disney merchandise! Planning a trip for 2027 and feel like you need to be prepared for all that’s coming? 11. Sometimes when you want breakfast or brunch in Disney World, you just want a cinnamon roll. There’s just something about the warm spices of cinnamon paired with hot dough and cream cheese frosting that almost always hits the spot. Giant Cinnamon Roll Now, we know, when we say cinnamon roll, you probably think of the one at Gaston’s Tavern in Magic Kingdom or the Mickey cinnamon rolls you can get around the resort, but we’ve got a NEW Disney World cinnamon roll to share with you, and it’s HUGE. You’ll find it at Summer House on the Lake in Disney Springs during brunch, and it is GINORMOUS. We recently dropped into Summer House on the Lake to check out brunch and ordered the Giant Cinnamon Roll for $19.95. Yep, we paid $20 for a cinnamon roll, but WAIT until you see this monstrosity! It’s HUGE. We were also impressed with just how fast it came out, so if you want to order something quick, this is it. It’s served piping hot, which means the cream cheese frosting is melting all over the edges, and it’s all gooey in the best way possible. It’s massive! The cinnamon roll itself is fluffy with layer upon layer of soft, airy dough, with a nice even distribution of cinnamon between each layer, so you get that warm spice with each bite. The cream cheese frosting adds a nice subtle tang, and the sweetness balances out the cinnamon. It’s such a perfect blend of those classic cinnamon roll flavors we all know and love. Look at all those layers Now, let’s talk about the elephant in the room…the SIZE of this thing. This is something you could share with two or three other people. So if you take that into account, the $20 price tag isn’t bad at all. We certainly couldn’t finish it on our own, although we tried! DELICIOUS There’s only one thing really wrong with this treat…it’s only available on the weekend during brunch, which runs on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 AM to 2 PM. So if you’re craving a sweet treat in Disney Springs during the week, you might want to try out one of the many delicious cookies available at the cookie bar here (yep, there’s a cookie bar). One of our favorites is the Krispy Chocolate Chip Cookie, but we also love the Lemon Cookie. Krispy Chocolate Chip Cookie We’ll keep an eye out for more new food in Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB for more. Dale Light-Up Christmas ”Candle” Figure ©Disney If you get this reference, you have amazing taste! If you don’t, let us introduce you to the cartoon Disney classic, Pluto’s Christmas Tree! 14. If you’re waiting 65 minutes to ride your favorite attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, you want to make sure you get a good seat. Tower of Terror On some attractions, one row gives you the best view, the biggest thrill, or the best ride photo, while another leaves you staring at the back of someone’s head (or a giant dog’s head — more on that in a sec). Our team has ridden these attractions more times than we can count, and we’ve got opinions. Here are the Hollywood Studios rides where there really is a “good” seat and a “bad” seat. First, you might be thinking, “Can you actually ask for a seat”? Often, yes! Politely ask the Cast Member at the spot where they assign rows. If it’s doable, they may have you wait for the next vehicle. It’s never guaranteed, and it can depend on how busy the ride is, but it never hurts to ask. Slinky Dog Dash 1. Slinky Dog Dash Best Seat: The back row We’re going with roller coaster rules on this one — sit in the back for the most thrilling experience. It feels like you’re going faster because you’ve got the momentum of all the cars in front of you pulling you along. We think you feel every little twist, bend, and dip a little more, too. WHEE!!! Bad Seat: The front row In all honesty, most seats are great on Slinky. The one exception? The very front row. It sounds like it should be the best seat in the house, but Slinky’s giant head sits right in front of you, and it blocks a surprising amount of your view. You came to see Andy’s backyard, not the back of a Slinky! If you love that front-row feeling on other coasters, this is the one time we’d say skip it. Slinky Dog Dash 2. Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railroad Best Seat: The front row of the first car There’s a clear winner for us here. The front row of the first car gives you the best view of the whole ride, with nobody’s head blocking anything in front of you. On a ride that’s all about the cartoon world popping up around you, that unobstructed view makes a big difference. Bad Seats: The back two cars (and sharing) This ride has two seats we’d avoid if we could. First, the back two cars. During the ride, these cars swap back and forth for who rolls into each scene last. When you’re the last one in, you can miss some of the dialogue that’s already started, and that’s a bummer on a ride with so much storytelling packed in. Second, sharing a row with another party. During the dance scene, your car spins and twirls, and you’ll likely end up bumping into the strangers next to you. It’s a little awkward. If your group can fill a row on its own, go for it! If not, just know what you’re in for and laugh it off. Runaway Railway 3. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets Best Seat: The back row (but the front is a close second) The Muppets may have taken over this coaster, but the ride itself is just as fast and intense as ever, so our seat advice hasn’t changed. We usually recommend the back seat on coasters, and we’re sticking with that here because it just feels faster. BUT the front ain’t so bad either. Up there, you get an awesome view as the coaster launches and goes from 0 to 57 mph in under 3 seconds flat. If you’ve ridden in the back before, the front row is a fun way to switch things up on your next ride. Bad Seat: The middle rows To be fair, “bad” is a strong term on this ride, as you get great views and thrilling fun no matter where you sit. It’s just that the front and the back give you a more intense experience. This is a job for a SUPER STRETCH Limo… 4. The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror Best Seat: The front row Welcome to the Hollywood Tower Hotel… and the Twilight Zone. To get the full experience, sit in the front row. That’s where you’ll get the best view of Hollywood Studios spread out before you, just before you plunge — multiple times — back to Earth. Fun, amirite? The front row is also the way to go if you want a great ride photo. Your face will be front and center, with nothing in the way. Bad Seats: The back rows (if you care about your PhotoPass picture) The back rows still give you all the drops, but they’re a gamble for your ride photo. When the drop hits, everyone throws their hands in the air, and those hands can block your face entirely. Speaking from experience, this has happened to us way too many times! If the photo matters to you, ask for the front. Tower of Terror 5. Star Tours – The Adventures Continue Best Seat: The front (or wherever the Rebel Spy is sitting!) If you’re hoping to be chosen as the Rebel Spy, the best seat is simply wherever you’re sitting when you get picked. Unfortunately (or fortunately?), that happens at random, so no seat guarantees it. Otherwise, the front seems to toss you around a little less than the rest of the ride. That makes it the better choice for anyone prone to motion sickness. Bad Seat: The back (especially if you get motion sick) The flip side? The back seat can feel more extreme. The motion seems bigger back there, so if your stomach isn’t a fan of simulators, try to sit closer to the front. Thrill seekers who love feeling every jolt, though, may actually prefer it! Star Tours You’ll have a blast on every one of these rides no matter where you sit, but a little seat strategy can make a good ride even better. So next time you reach the loading area, don’t be shy: politely ask the Cast Member for your favorite row and see what happens! For more Disney tips and tricks, follow us at DFB! 15. If you’ve ever tapped a MagicBand to walk into the parks, open your hotel room door, or grab a Mickey Premium Bar without digging for your wallet, you’ve experienced the work of one inventor in particular. Tron Lightcycle / Run MagicBand+ Now, John Padgett is launching a new venture called Spaxial, an AI-powered platform designed to make visits to theme parks, cruise ships, resorts, casinos, and stadiums feel more personal. Padgett says the goal is to give front-line employees helpful cues so they can spend more time with guests, not to replace them. So what does that mean for your next vacation? Now, keep in mind that Padgett’s new tech, Spaxial, isn’t a Disney product, and as of now, there’s no reason to believe that it would be coming to Disney Parks anytime soon. Still, it’s a new type of technology that could eventually be rolled out in theme parks, according to Forbes. Tapping our MagicBand+! Padgett spent 18 years at Disney, eventually becoming the “head of game-changer experience development”. His contributions include FastPass+ (the predecessor to today’s Lightning Lanes), Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, and the Be Our Guest restaurant — in addition to the development of MagicBands. Later, he developed Carnival’s Ocean Medallion, another piece of wearable tech, and then started working on a new platform that can be applied to everything from cruise lines to casinos, theme parks, and stadiums — Spaxial. Journey Into Imagination with Figment Lightning Lane The sensors and locators in this new tech form what is known as an Internet of Things (IoT) — a network of systems that enables them to collect and exchange data. AI is integrated into the platform that manages the data and enables staff to improve guest experiences based on their movements, interactions, and preferences. According to Forbes, this has never been done before in experiential environments, and Spaxial is the world’s first experiential AI platform. Cinderella Castle “The leisure travel and entertainment industry is infusing AI into the call centers and the back office, and that certainly helps with cost efficiencies, but true topline value is created in front of the guest via better service delivery. That’s where Spaxial is focused,” says Padgett. Spaxial eliminates barriers in similar technology through a patent-pending combo of secure identity, precision location services, and proprietary AI models. The Experiential AI Platform is designed to work on top of an operator’s existing systems, which would give employees the context they need in front of a guest. Wilderness Lodge Hospitality has historically relied on separate systems for reservations, guest apps, team apps, data, and payments, but Spaxial would bring all of this together in one unified platform that not only recognizes the guest, but understands the context and can orchestrate a response. The platform is being developed at Padgett’s SpaxialWorks, and while they haven’t revealed which companies it’s targeting, reports indicate that an obvious candidate is Miral, the government-funded operator of theme parks on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. Miral is investing heavily in AI, so it’s possible we could see this tech come to theme parks over there — which could eventually include Disney’s Abu Dhabi theme park. ©Disney We’ll be on the lookout for even more tech updates that could impact your future theme park trips. 17. Brings Disney’s Total Investment in Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots to $7.5M+ The Disney Conservation Fund (DCF) today announced a $1 million investment in Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots, the youth program of the Jane Goodall Institute which supports, connects and celebrates young people taking action in their own communities to help people, animals and the environment. The announcement comes as 10 exceptional youth conservation leaders from across the United States gathered at Walt Disney World Resort for a multi-day conservation summit celebrating youth action and environmental stewardship. The youth participants were selected through the “Hop into the Animal Kingdom Challenge,” created in collaboration with Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots USA in celebration of Disney and Pixar’s 30th film, Hoppers, and the 30th anniversary of the Disney Conservation Fund. Already active leaders in their communities, these young advocates are leading projects focused on wildlife conservation, habitat restoration, environmental education, pollution reduction and community engagement. Through immersive experiences at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and EPCOT, participants gained firsthand insights from Disney’s animal care, veterinary, science, conservation and storytelling experts. During the event, they explored careers dedicated to protecting the natural world and networked with fellow young changemakers who share a passion for protecting wildlife and wild places and inspiring others to do the same. Each participant was also paired with a Disney mentor who has expertise in their interest areas and who will serve as a career and education coach over the next year. “The future of conservation depends on supporting and inspiring the next generation of leaders,” said Claire Martin, Senior Manager, Biodiversity Conservation Programs at The Walt Disney Company. “By connecting young people with nature and giving them opportunities to explore careers in animal care, conservation and science, we can help inspire lifelong champions for wildlife and the planet. We’re proud to collaborate with Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots to celebrate these remarkable young leaders and invest in the future of conservation.” The $1 million investment will support Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots, a global youth action program of the Jane Goodall Institute that inspires young people to identify challenges in their communities and take meaningful action for people, animals and the environment. Founded in 1991 by the late Dr. Jane Goodall, Roots & Shoots is now active in 75 countries and counting, including all 50 U.S. states and Puerto Rico. The investment builds on the Disney Conservation Fund’s longstanding commitment to inspiring conservation action and connecting children with nature. Meet the Youth Conservation Leaders: The summit participants represent a diverse range of conservation initiatives occurring in communities across the country, including: Angela Butz (New Jersey) — Native pollinator habitat creation and biodiversity restoration. Jack Dalton (Massachusetts) — Environmental education and rainforest conservation through youth engagement and storytelling. Shea Polley (Florida) — Sea turtle conservation and environmental education initiatives. Destiny Joy Sagay (Georgia) — Plastic pollution cleanup and wildlife protection efforts. Marlee Christiansen (Illinois) — Bird and bat conservation through habitat creation and community awareness. William Tan (Minnesota) — Aquatic ecosystem conservation through innovative reef technology. Cash Daniels (Tennessee) — Shark conservation awareness and ocean stewardship. Ethan Park (Texas) — Prairie restoration and conservation education. Nateli Sanderson (Washington) — Orca and salmon conservation through habitat restoration and outreach. Katelyn Liu (California) — Conservation education and increasing youth access to STEM education. The youth winners also received small grants from the Disney Conservation Fund to support their projects. Since receiving these grants, the youth have expanded their work through activities such as guiding their peers through native plantings, leading reef restoration events, installing bat boxes in critical habitats and distributing turtle-themed care packages to pediatric cancer patients. The winners were also invited to help select additional youth-led community projects as Roots & Shoots grant winners, resulting in 102 grants awarded across 32 states and territories. “Our 10 challenge winners are inspiring examples of Dr. Jane Goodall’s deep held belief that young people are our greatest reason for hope,” said Anna Rathmann, CEO of the Jane Goodall Institute USA. “These young people embody the power of hope and action. They believe that change is possible and that they can make a difference for our fellow animals and shared environment, which is exactly what Roots & Shoots is about. We are so grateful to our partners at the Disney Conservation Fund for giving us the opportunity to celebrate and support this important work.” A version of this article also appears on TheWaltDisneyCompany.com The post Disney Conservation Fund Invests $1 Million in Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots and Celebrates Next Generation of Conservation Leaders at Walt Disney World appeared first on Disney Experiences. 18. If you’re anything like me, you often prioritize which Disney World rides you’re going to head to first thing in the morning LONG before you actually enter that park. Whether it’s the latest new high-tech attraction, your forever favorite ride, or something new and even seasonal… That’s where November 3rd comes in. Jingle Cruise That day the Jingle Cruise makes its 2026 debut, and it’s sure to be a MAJOR morning draw for guests heading to the Magic Kingdom. However, if you’re making a trip this holiday season and staying at Disney World, there’s something you NEED to know. For years now, the Jingle Cruise has been one of Disney World’s most popular holiday offerings. An overlay of the classic and forever “World Famous” Jungle Cruise, the ride offers a version of the classic “packed with holiday-themed puns,” and — importantly for our focus today — unlike other holiday overlays, it’s available to all guests as opposed to only guests with tickets to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Suffice to say, many guests try to rope drop Jingle Cruise during its limited run since lines are often LONG. Jingle Cruise Now, if you booked a Disney World vacation during Jingle Cruise’s run and are staying at one of their hotels, you may be thinking, “I’ll definitely take advantage of Early Entry for this ride.” Early Entry is, of course, one of Disney World’s most popular hotel perks. It grants guests staying at Disney World resort hotels a 30-minute period where they can enter each of Disney World’s theme parks before they officially open every day of their stay and hop on eligible rides early. More holiday decor on the dock Unfortunately, we have some BAD NEWS. Jingle Cruise is NOT offered during the 30-minute Early Entry period. In fact, nothing in Adventureland (or Frontierland, or Liberty Square) is available during this period. The attractions currently available for Early Entry at Magic Kingdom in 2026 include: “it’s a small world” Astro Orbiter Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin Dumbo the Flying Elephant Mad Tea Party Peter Pan’s Flight Prince Charming Regal Carrousel Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Space Mountain The Barnstormer The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh Tomorrowland Speedway Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover Under the Sea ~ Journey of The Little Mermaid Early entry sign! So, if you’re a Disney World hotel guest looking to ride Jingle Cruise first thing in the morning, you’re not going to be able to do so directly using Early Entry. You’ll simply need to join the crowd to enter Adventureland and enter with the normal rope drop crowds to head to the ride. The Jingle Cruise is back! If you’re planning to rope drop Jingle Cruise beginning on November 3rd, plan to deal with big crowds, and know that Early Entry can’t help you! 20. For four weekends a year, Disney World opens its gates early, letting thousands of people run through the parks, earn medals, and get their weekly miles. Because it happens so early in the morning, runDisney almost feels like a secret club you might not even know exists unless you’re driving around Disney World property at 2 AM. ©Disney With so many extra people going on Disney World trips at the same time, are the crowds worse? What are the wait times? Are there wall-to-wall crowds of people? The Disney Wine & Fine Half Marathon Weekend just passed, and we’re diving into the crowds to see if it’s busier. We generally recommend avoiding runDisney weekends if you can, since you don’t want to run into crowds of people if you don’t have to. EPCOT hosts the start and finish of the races, and it sometimes opens late, which can throw a wrench in your plans. For this past weekend, the park opened at 10 AM instead of 9 AM. EPCOT While we walked around EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, and Magic Kingdom, we didn’t see many people, which was a bit odd. Now, don’t get us wrong, the parks were pretty busy with long wait times, but we’re not sure it was because of the runners or just because weekends have been busier lately. We were looking for fans with medals on their running gear, but we struggled to find them. Rope Drop crowds It’s a big tradition to head to the parks afterward (well, maybe more sleep and breakfast after running at 2 AM, then off to the parks) and take some cool photos in your medals. It can happen all weekend, but Medal Monday is also a big event. Crowds We were looking for runners, and trust us, we were, but we really didn’t see them. We saw normal Rope Drop crowds and an overall busy EPCOT, but that’s about it. We honestly expected more, but the lines everywhere felt normal for this time of year, which is typically pretty busy since it’s almost Halloween and we’re heading into the winter months. Magic Kingdom This is only the first race weekend of the season, and this time they opened more 5k slots, allowing more people to sign up. The rest of the weekends for the season include: 2027 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend: January 6th to 10th 2027 Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend: February 25th to March 1st 20277 runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend: April 8th to 11th ©Disney The rest of the season is already sold out, but it’s good to start looking forward to next year for more options. Could this be a fluke, and the parks not be as busy as we thought? Yep! It could also be affected since this is already a busy time of year. We wouldn’t be surprised if the crowds pick up for the next few races. Make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for more tips and tricks on how to have the best Disney World vacation yet. 21. Yesterday
  22. Can you believe in a little over a week, we’ll be looking at holiday decorations in the park and looking forward to all kinds of new holiday snacks and drinks (and we are SO ready)? Yep, Halloween will soon be over, and we’ll be gearing up for the holiday season in Disney World, which, in my opinion, brings some of the BEST food to the parks and hotels. Gingerbread everything? Yes, please. Chocolate Sugar Skull Well, before we get too excited, we still have to keep an eye on Disney World restaurant menus because they are constantly changing, so let’s talk about all the menu changes we spotted this week. 23. If you’ve done Disney World or Disneyland a few times, you probably have your park bag down to a science: ponchos, portable charger, Mickey ears, and blister bandages. Get ready to set sail! But a Disney Cruise is a totally different kind of vacation, and your tried-and-true park packing list won’t cover everything you’ll want on board. Between relaxing sea days, stateroom living, port adventures, and cruise-only traditions, there are a handful of items that make a big difference at sea. Here’s what we’d add to the suitcase before sailing away. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. 1. Luggage Tag Holders with Retractable Lanyards ©Amazon Before your Disney Cruise, you’ll print out luggage tags to attach to the bags you’re checking at the port, and paper tags don’t always survive the trip from the car to your stateroom door. These Cruise On Disney Cruise Luggage Tag Holders come in a 4-pack and fit all ship and baggage tags, so your printed tags stay protected and easy for the crew to read. View on Amazon 2. Magnetic Hooks Neosmuk Magnetic Hooks Here’s a cruise hack that surprises a lot of first-timers: Disney Cruise Line stateroom walls are metal, which means magnets stick! These Neosmuk Magnetic Hooks come in a 6-pack and hold up to 30 pounds each, so you can create extra hanging space in a cabin where every inch counts. We like using them for hats, lanyards, day bags, and damp swimsuits after a trip to the pool. You’d have no reason to pack these for a Disney World resort room, but on a ship they instantly make your stateroom feel more organized. view ON AMAZON 3. Disney Cruise Insulated Tumbler for Soda ©Amazon One of the best perks of sailing with Disney Cruise Line is that soda is included at the beverage stations on board. That makes this Disney Cruise Mickey & Minnie Mouse Bon Voyage Tumbler a must-pack. Fill it with your favorite soda (or ice water) and take it to the pool deck, a show, or back to your stateroom without worrying about a flimsy cup. The stainless steel keeps drinks cold in the hot sun, and the Bon Voyage ship design is just too cute to pass up. View on Amazon 4. A smaller bag to carry around ©Amazon At the parks, most of us haul around a backpack full of supplies. On a cruise, you really don’t need much — especially on port days and beach days. This BAGGU Fanny Pack, with an embroidered Mickey Mouse Club design, is the right size for your Key to the World card, ID, phone, sunscreen, and lip balm. It keeps your hands free for exploring a port or heading off to your excursion, and the embroidered design adds a fun Disney touch without looking over the top. view ON AMAZON 5. Disney Sudoku Puzzle Book ©Amazon Sea days are a totally new experience if you’re used to rope-drop-to-fireworks park days. There’s no rush, and nowhere you have to be, so it’s the perfect time to slow down with something relaxing. This Disney Sudoku Puzzle Book is a great poolside or balcony companion, and it doesn’t need Wi-Fi or a charger. It’s also handy for downtime while you wait for your dinner rotation or for the next show to start. View on Amazon 6. Kindle ©Amazon If you’re a reader, a cruise is the vacation where you’ll finally have time to dig into your to-be-read pile. This PopSockets Mickey Dots Kindle Paperwhite Case fits the 12th generation Kindle Paperwhite and works with a PopSocket grip, so it’s easy to hold while you’re lounging on a deck chair. The white case with Mickey polka dots keeps things fun and Disney-themed, and a Kindle is much easier to pack than a stack of paperbacks. You likely wouldn’t have much time to read at the parks, but on a cruise, it’s one of our favorite ways to unwind. view ON AMAZON 7. Motion Sickness Bands ©Amazon The Disney ships are big and smooth, but some guests still feel the motion of the ocean, especially on rougher sea days. These HIONXMGA Motion Sickness Bands are acupressure wristbands designed to help with nausea, and they come in a 6-pair pack with sizes for both adults and kids. Many cruisers swear by them as a drug-free option, and they’re easy to keep in your bag just in case. Since the pack includes six pairs, the whole family can be covered for the full sailing. Even if you don’t find yourself getting sick from rides at the parks, the ocean is a different story. view ON AMAZON 8. Disney Cross-Stitch Kit ©Amazon If you’d rather keep your hands busy on a sea day, this Classic Disney Cross-Stitch Kit is a fun option. It’s officially licensed, designed for adults, and makes for a cozy activity to work on from your balcony or a quiet corner of the ship. By the time you’re back home, you might even have a finished Disney piece to display as a souvenir from your trip. It’s definitely not something you’d want to bring along on a park day, but it’s perfect for a slower cruise pace. view ON AMAZON 9. Mickey Mouse Reversible Bucket Hat ©Amazon There’s a lot of sun on a cruise — on the pool deck, at the port, and especially on a beach day. This Disney Mickey Mouse Reversible Bucket Hat gives you shade from every angle, and the soft construction means you can squish it into your bag without ruining it. At the parks, you might be tempted to wear your Mickey ears all day, but a bucket hat is much more practical when you’re lounging by the water. Plus, it’s reversible, so you basically get two looks for the price of one. view ON AMAZON 10. Fiber ©Amazon Let’s be honest: cruise food is one of the best parts of the trip, but between rotational dining, room service, and late-night snacks, your diet will probably look a little different than usual. These Metamucil Fiber Supplement Stick Packs come in a 21-count box of single-serve, mixed berry packets that mix clear into water. They’re easy to toss in your carry-on so you can stick to your normal routine while you enjoy all that cruise food. It’s not the most glamorous item on the list, but it’s one you’ll be glad you packed. view ON AMAZON 11. Fish Extender ©Amazon Fish extenders are one of the most fun Disney Cruise traditions, and they’re completely unique to cruising. Guests hang an organizer outside their stateroom door, and families in a group exchange small gifts by dropping them into each other’s pockets during the sailing. This RUNROLE 4-Pocket Fish Extender is a 10-inch-wide canvas organizer that you can customize with your family’s names. Even if you don’t join a fish extender group, it’s a cute way to decorate your door and help your kids easily spot your stateroom in the long hallways. view ON AMAZON 12. Fish Extender Gifts ©Amazon If you’re joining a fish extender exchange, you’ll need small gifts to hand out, and these Mouse Party Favors Bubble Wands are an easy win. They come in a 24-pack with multicolored glitter and a mouse ear pattern, so you’ll have plenty to go around. They’re a fun little surprise for kids to find in their fish extender, and they’re inexpensive enough to share with your whole group. view ON AMAZON 13. Snorkelling Gear ©Amazon If your Disney Cruise is heading to Castaway Cay, there is an awesome snorkel experience, and you can bring your own gear. Bringing your own gear means you don’t have to rent equipment, and you know exactly where it’s been. This Zyltine Snorkeling Gear for Adults includes a panoramic, anti-fog mask with tempered glass and an anti-leak design. It’s also foldable, so it packs down easily in your suitcase. You’ll never need snorkel gear at Disney World, but on a Disney Cruise, it can make your beach days even better. view ON AMAZON A Disney Cruise has all the magic you love from the parks, but life at sea calls for a slightly different packing list. 28. If you’ve ever stood in the long TSA line at Orlando International Airport (MCO), holding your souvenir bags and wondering if you’ll make your flight, this one’s for you. Orlando International Airport A brand-new study ranking the most (and least) stressful airports in the country just came out, and Orlando landed at #15 — not the worst of the bunch, but definitely not one of the calmest, either. Honestly? For anyone who has flown in or out of MCO, that spot probably won’t come as a shock. Let’s break down what the numbers say about MCO, how it compares to other airports, and what you can do to make your next trip to Disney World a little smoother from the moment you get to the airport. How the Airport Stress Ranking Works Rightway Parking analyzed 55 major airports in the U.S. across five factors to rank the most and least stressful airports to fly through: Delay rate Cancellation rate How much delays have worsened since 2021 How far the airport is from downtown How long it takes to get there from downtown The flight data comes from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, using 2025 numbers for delays and cancellations and a 2021-to-2025 look at how delays have changed over time. Each factor was scored on a 0-to-100 scale and weighted equally, so an airport that struggles in several categories rises quickly toward the top of the “stressful” list. Orlando International Airport Where Orlando Landed (and Why) Orlando International came in at #15 out of 55, which puts it firmly in the more-stressful half of the list. Here’s how MCO’s numbers stack up: Delay rate: 24.22% Cancellation rate: 1.04% Change in delays since 2021: 9.05% The delay rate is the big one. Roughly 1 in 4 flights out of MCO left late, which isn’t far behind the airports with the most delays in the study, with Dallas/Fort Worth (27.86%), West Palm Beach (26.00%), and Denver (25.40%) as the top three. If you’ve ever watched your departure time creep back while waiting at the gate, you’re definitely not alone. Frontier Plane at the Orlando Airport The good news is that cancellations are relatively rare. At 1.04%, MCO sits just above the sub-1% cancellation rates of the least stressful airports, and well below Reagan National’s study-high 3.86%. In other words, your flight is much more likely to leave late than not leave at all. MCO’s delay trend is also fairly mild compared to some airports. Delays there have grown 9.05% since 2021, while they jumped 79.90% at Charlotte Douglas and 73.92% at Reagan National over the same stretch. So why does Orlando still rank in the top 15? It’s the combination. MCO is one of the busiest airports in the country, and it deals with a steady stream of vacationers (often big families with strollers and lots of luggage), peak travel weeks tied to school breaks, and Florida’s famous afternoon thunderstorms — all of which can stack up into delays and long lines. No single number is extreme, but those everyday pressures add up across the five factors. MCO Airport Security The Most and Least Stressful Airports in the U.S. If MCO feels hectic, it could be worse. Dallas/Fort Worth International (DFW) took the #1 spot as the most stressful airport in the study, followed by Chicago O’Hare (ORD) at #2 and Ronald Reagan Washington National (DCA) at #3. DFW pairs a 27.86% delay rate (the highest in the study) with a 33.67% increase in delays since 2021, and it sits 22 miles from downtown. O’Hare has a 24.68% delay rate — nearly identical to MCO’s — but its delays have climbed 42.77%, and the trip from downtown takes about 50 minutes. Reagan National is close to the city, but it has the highest cancellation rate in the study at 3.86%, and its delay rate has jumped 73.92%. At the opposite end of the ranking, Salt Lake City International (SLC) is the least stressful airport in the study, followed by San Jose International (SJC) and Honolulu Daniel K. Inouye International (HNL). All three have cancellation rates below 1%, relatively short trips from downtown, and lower delay rates than many of the airports near the top of the list. So if you’re flying to Disney World from SLC, San Jose, or Honolulu, you might just get the calmer half of your travel day out of the way first! MCO Airport How to Make Your MCO Trip Less Stressful You can’t control the weather or air traffic, but you can control a lot of what happens on the ground. Here are our top tips for a smoother trip in and out of Orlando. 1. Book a Free Security Time with MCO Reserve If you don’t have TSA PreCheck or CLEAR Plus, MCO Reserve (powered by CLEAR) is one of the best-kept secrets at the airport. It’s completely free and lets you book a time slot for your whole party to go through security using a dedicated lane. Terminals A, B, and C all have MCO Reserve lanes. You can book your slot up to 7 days in advance, but spots are limited each day, so grab one early. When you arrive, scan the QR code from your confirmation and head straight to TSA to have your ID and boarding pass checked. Screening hours vary by terminal (Terminal C, for example, runs from 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.), so check the MCO Reserve page for your terminal and flight time before booking. It’s meant for standard-screening passengers, so TSA PreCheck and CLEAR Plus members should stick to their own lanes. With roughly 1 in 4 MCO flights delayed, taking the guesswork out of the security line is one easy way to cut down on travel-day stress. ©MCO Reserve 3.
