  4. It’s time to get scary… and scared! Halloween Horror Nights has officially arrived at Universal Orlando, and we are THERE on the very first night. Of course, we’re checking out all the haunted houses, but more importantly, we’re checking out all the food. Meat Grinder Red Velvet Halloween Horror Nights runs on select nights in August, September, and October through November 1st at Universal Studios Florida, and the event features exclusive food and drinks you can’t get at the parks during the day. So let’s talk about everything we ate and drank at the party! We’re starting with the Birria Pizza Fries at the DreamWorks Imagination Cafe for $13.99. These are French fries topped with birria beef, mozzarella cheese, onions, and cilantro. Birria Pizza Fries The Birria is melt-in-your-mouth tender, with quite a good portion of Birria. The cheese is nice and melted, and every fry had a good amount of cheese. The diced onions on top add a little crunch, and the chopped cilantro has that soapy flavor, so you might not like these if you’re not a cilantro fan. However, we think these are a hit, and would like to see them return next year! Birria Pizza Fries To satisfy our frightful sweet tooth, we made our way over to Fearful Fare to try the Meat Grinder Red Velvet for $8.99. Now, this thing is… well… it looks gross. It’s freshly ground red velvet cake with cream cheese icing and puffed rice maggots. You have to give Universal an A+ for most terrifying food presentation, right? Meat Grinder Red Velvet Texturally, this was straight mush. It’s a very soft, mushy cake topped with a ton of soft frosting. There weren’t enough puffed rice pieces to add a substantial crunch. Taste-wise, this was very yummy chocolate cake, and the red sauce was a sweet strawberry sauce. If you like chocolate cake, then it’s a fun twist on a classic, but you probably won’t like it if you need some bite in your dessert. Meat Grinder Red Velvet We’ll be covering EVERYTHING at this year’s Halloween Horror Nights, so stay tuned to DFB for more. 6. Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando has a reputation for bringing the scares to those people brave enough to buy a ticket to the event. Thanks to its themed haunted houses, scare zones, and scare actors just waiting to make people scream, some folks might be a little too afraid to actually give the event a chance, which is understandable. Deathly Afraid Lanyard The thing is… there actually IS more to Halloween Horror Nights than being terrified, and for those who want to experience the event without the jump scares and scare actors in their face, there’s an option to avoid that: the Deathly Afraid lanyard. We tested out the Deathly Afraid Lanyard to see if it actually works. So what is a Deathly Afraid Lanyard? Well, it’s a lanyard that you can buy at one of Universal’s shops for $20 that you can wear around your neck during Halloween Horror Nights. The lanyard has a bright red disk that lets scare actors know that you are off-limits. So it basically signals to scare actors to leave you alone in scare zones and other common areas. However, it does not protect you in haunted houses — but you can easily avoid those if you don’t want to be scared. Make sure it’s lit up! We purchased a Deathly Afraid Lanyard at the Universal Studios Store to see if it really does work. So we put it around our neck and walked through some scare zones. In our experience, scare actors did not approach us at all, and we were, more or less, left alone. So in that sense, it does exactly what it’s supposed to. Sideshow of Decay We struggled in FORTNITEMARES, where we were scared by a few scare actors. But in every other scare zone, the Deathly Afraid Lanyard worked extremely well! Scary! As far as the battery life goes on this thing, it lasted all evening, so we didn’t have to worry about it running out of juice and leaving us at the mercy of scare actors. Deathly Afraid Lanyard Overall, if you’re someone who wants to experience Halloween Horror Nights without being targeted by scare actors, the Deathly Afraid Lanyard will be your best friend. It gives you a chance to explore everything else the event has to offer without having to be afraid someone is going to jump out and try to scare you when you least expect it. Like we said, there are other ways to enjoy Halloween Horror Nights, including watching some of the unique entertainment and eating the event-exclusive snacks and drinks. Meat Grinder Red Velvet However, if you’re still a little worried about how scary this event could be, you could always get tickets for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in Magic Kingdom instead. This event is more family-friendly, and the only thing that might scare you is the ticket price (just kidding…we think it could be totally worth it!). Hocus Pocus Villain Spectacular at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary We’ll be continuing coverage of Halloween Horror Nights, so stay tuned to DFB for more. 9 Rules Halloween Horror Nights Is Enforcing in 2026 DON'T DO IT ALONE! 9. When it comes to dining at Disney World, you’ve got a TON of options. If it feels overwhelming, we totally get it, and that’s why we’re here to help. Yachtsman Steakhouse Desserts We recently stopped by Yachtsman Steakhouse as Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, which just recently reopened after a months-long closure, to see what was cookin’, and now we’re bringing you our FULL review. Is it worth a stop on your next trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth after its recent refurbishment? Let’s find out! Atmosphere Yachtsman Steakhouse is a New England-style steakhouse with premium steaks, fresh seafood, and more on the menu. As it’s one of Disney World’s signature dining restaurants, you can expect a more sophisticated vibe in the restaurant’s menu offerings, decor, and theming, especially with the new refurbishment touches to the already beautiful atmosphere. We will say, we’ve noticed that it’s very loud in this restaurant no matter when we visit, so it might not be the right place for a more intimate dinner. Yachtsman Steakhouse But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?! Menu The menu you’ll find here is incredible and features a gourmet array of steaks, entrees, appetizers, and desserts. If you’re looking for great steak, this is absolutely a restaurant to be on your radar. You’ll find starters, Butcher’s Cuts, a Sauce Flight, Enhancements, Land and Sea Entrées, and Steakhouse Sides. Menu And now, onto the main event — the food! Eats First up, we got the Bread Service, which is complimentary. We were served Sourdough and Onion Bread Rolls with Butter, topped with Pink Himalayan Sea Salt and Roasted Garlic. It’s a warm, welcoming way to start the meal, and we love that the onion flavor comes through enough to be present but not overwhelming. Bread Service Next was the French Onion Soup for $15, and this was one of the best French Onion Soups we’ve ever had. There was so much cheese on top and every bite had the longest cheese pull we’ve ever seen, every time. French Onion Soup The soup itself was so flavorful, with a really salty and rich taste, without being overbearing. We would absolutely get this again and again. Delicious We also grabbed the 14oz Roasted Prime Rib for $60. Our reporter described this as “unbelievable” and said it’s the best thing they’ve ever eaten here. It was incredibly tender and flavorful, and the horseradish sauce served with it was creamy, salty, and had a little kick. 14oz Roasted Prime Rib The au jus was a little weak in flavor and wasn’t as salty as we expected, though the Yorkshire pudding was very, very salty, a little too much so. It was, however, very airy and fluffy, and a little cheesy. Consider us impressed! Finally, we got the Yachtsman Signature Chocolate Cake for $17. This was a very moist chocolate cake with a lighter chocolate flavor, not super rich or bitter like dark chocolate. Yachtsman Signature Chocolate Cake If you are not the biggest fan of chocolate like our reporter, we still think you would enjoy this, as the chocolate isn’t too intense. We do wish there was a little more coffee flavor to it, however, and we weren’t really able to taste the raspberry sauce or the caramel sauce. Nosh or Not This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if… If you want “steakhouse night” that feels like you temporarily joined a yacht club and now have opinions about scotch, Yachtsman Steakhouse is exactly that. It’s tucked inside Disney’s Yacht Club Resort and leans classic, polished, and calmer than a lot of Disney dining. It’s a strong date-night pick, a celebratory dinner pick, or a “we need a quiet room and a serious protein” pick. If your group is a mix of adventurous and picky. It still works because the menu is pretty straightforward at its core: steaks, seafood, and steakhouse sides, with a few elevated comfort options sprinkled in. If you’re doing Dining Plan strategy (or just bracing yourself emotionally for the bill), this is Disney Signature Dining. It typically runs 2 table-service credits per person on the Dining Plan, and pricing lines up with that “special occasion” tier. You should skip this Disney World spot if… If you’re trying to keep things budget-friendly, this is not your “casual dinner after the pool” spot. Typical pricing as appetizers in the teens/low 20s, entrées well into the $38–$65 range, and a three-course meal often landing around $80–$95 per person before drinks and gratuity. If you’ve got little kids who need loud, fast, and entertaining, this can feel too slow and too grown-up. It’s a steakhouse pace, and the vibe is more “quiet conversation” than “Disney chaos in a cowboy hat.” If your party is coming straight from the pool. Disney’s dress code is “clean, neat” and specifically says no swimwear, so plan accordingly. Overall We love the Yachtsman, and while we love the food, the noise level always throws us off. The food is immaculate, the service is top-notch, and the refurbishment is well done, preserving the things that already made the restaurant beautiful on the inside. Being tucked away in the middle of six Disney hotels and two different theme parks, it still retains its warm and cozy feeling, miraculously. However, while the lighting is dim and low-stimulating, the noise in here always seems to be overly loud, so make sure you’re prepared before heading over. Yachtsman Steakhouse In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disney World and beyond. You KNOW we had to experience EVERYTHING Halloween Horror Nights has to offer, especially the haunted houses! Come inside every house with us to see what you’ll be getting yourself into! Halloween Horror Nights takes place on select nights from August 28th through November 1st, and the 35th anniversary celebration is pulling out all the stops. Here’s our full breakdown of every haunted house waiting for you this year. Halloween Horror Nights Jack & Oddfellow: Chaos & Control Jack the Clown and his longtime rival, Dr. Oddfellow, take center stage in this haunted house, teaming up to deliver unforgettable scares. According to Universal, guests will “journey into the unsettling origins of the two adversaries’ undying rivalry” throughout the experience. Inside Jack & Oddfellow This house is very trippy, and we had a great time with it. Think twisted fun house with strobe lights, illusions, carnival music, and scares. We could see this being a favorite for a lot of guests! Sinners Step into the world of the Academy Award-winning film Sinners in this immersive haunted house. Based on the film, the experience transports guests to Club Juke, where twin brothers’ dream of opening a juke joint quickly descends into chaos when vampires invade. Along the way, guests will encounter familiar faces from the film, including Remmick, Bert, Joan, Sammie, Mary, Annie, Pearline, and Cornbread. Inside Sinners They actually built the rooms around the music in many cases, which makes sense considering music is such a heavy theme in the movie. Get ready to hear Ludwig’s award-winning score played throughout the house. The house even features the iconic “I Lied to You” scene! Stranger Things 5 Inspired by the fifth and final season of Stranger Things, this haunted house transports guests to Hawkins as the line between reality and the Upside Down crumbles. Expect to relive unforgettable moments from the series while encountering beloved characters, horrifying monsters, and the sinister Vecna, who lurks around every corner. Stranger Things 5 house! This house features a full flowering Demogorgon that is completely robotic, and it was honestly one of the coolest things we saw all night. The largest scene in the house is when Will finds his power and actually breaks the arms and legs of a fully robotic Demogorgon. Stranger Things fans will love this house! H.R. Bloodengutz Presents: A Halloween Fright-Tacular! One of Halloween Horror Nights’ fan-favorite icons, H.R. Bloodengutz, is back as one of this year’s hosts. According to Universal, guests can expect “your favorite maître d’macabre” to return to WKNB for a special Halloween scare-athon packed with ghouls, gore, and terrifying surprises. Inside H.R. Bloodengutz This is a very unique house, with a lot of fun scenes. If you’re a fan of classic Halloween, then you’ll enjoy this experience. There are also cool transitions before you enter each room. MADLANDS: Caged Cannibals As one of the standout scary houses of the night, they waste no time throwing guests into chaos. Universal describes this house as “a defunct zoo” that “is now the deadly domain of warring cannibal factions that have taken their animal instincts to extremes.” Madlands This is a heavily 90s-infused punk rock haunted house. Fun fact, this house actually features an original score. It is a little bit of a “stinky” house, so be prepared for that. Also, we thought the scare actors were INCREDIBLE in here! Cybergoria This house drops guests into a futuristic world where machines are in charge. Their ultimate goal is to keep you alive forever…even if surviving the process means facing your worst nightmare. Get ready, because this is a gross house. Cybergoria The monsters are Fleshbots, as the robots have figured out how to make us immortal. They put us in cryo until they can figure out how they can connect us to their bodies. The scare actors are truly relentless in this house, and they get very close to you. We would probably say this is the best house at HHN this year, and we don’t think we’re alone in that thought. INVASION: Alien Abduction A remote homestead becomes ground zero for an alien invasion in this haunted house, as the Grays arrive aboard their ship searching for new victims to experiment on. In this, you’re being abducted, and you do end up on an alien ship. If you’re a fan of aliens, there is definitely no shortage of them in this house. Alien Invasion Hellraiser Inspired by the legendary Hellraiser franchise, this haunted house invites guests to step inside the world of the Cenobites. After opening the infamous Lament Configuration puzzle box, guests will find themselves trapped in a twisted dimension where terrifying horrors lurk around every corner. Hellraiser We said Cybergoria was gross, but this house may be the grossest at HHN. Just be warned that you can hear significant moaning, and you’ll even see a butt. It is a static figure, not a real butt, but still. Clive Barker insisted there be the pleasure and pain of Hellraiser with this house…whatever that means. It’s a pretty wild house! Evil Dead Burn One of the latest horror films joins this year’s Halloween Horror Nights lineup with a haunted house inspired by its terrifying story. After the Book of the Dead is reopened, guests will find themselves surrounded by bloodthirsty Deadites eager to claim their next victims. As Universal warns, “try not to get possessed by soul-sucking Deadites hell-bent on bloodshed.” They had to make this house from just a script, which is obviously hard. To be honest, this one wasn’t our favorite, but it wasn’t bad. Evil Dead Burn Ozzy Osbourne: Prince of Darkness The Prince of Darkness has officially arrived at Halloween Horror Nights! This haunted house invites guests to “scream through a decaying world where music and mayhem collide,” immersing them in the twisted world of Ozzy Osbourne. Ozzy Osbourne There is some wild stuff in this house, including cool nods to Ozzy, a lot of his songs, and niche references. You’ll see a vampire biting the head off a human (referencing Ozzy eating the head off a bat). Our favorite part was probably the sequence where you’re riding on the rails of a crazy train! Hellraiser Halloween Horror Nights is one of our favorite events of the year, and this year’s lineup definitely delivered on the scares! 12. There are plenty of reasons to buy a ticket to EPCOT After Hours. Shorter waits for rides? Yes. Fewer people standing between us and another spin on Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind? Absolutely. Included Mickey Bars? We have never been known to turn down ice cream. But if you’re planning to attend EPCOT After Hours, there’s one reservation we’re making before we start strategizing our ride order. France Pavilion Dinner. At 7 PM. That might seem like a strange way to begin an event that’s largely about squeezing as much as possible into a few very expensive hours. But hear us out, because eating dinner right when you enter EPCOT might actually help you get MORE out of your After Hours ticket. You Can Enter EPCOT at 7 PM EPCOT After Hours officially runs from 9:30 PM to 12:30 AM on select nights in 2026. However, your After Hours ticket gets you into EPCOT beginning at 7 PM, and you don’t need separate park admission or a park reservation if you’re entering at or after that time. That gives you two and a half hours before the actual event begins. Regular EPCOT guests are still in the park during this period, so this isn’t necessarily when we’re trying to speed-run every attraction. Instead, we’re using that overlap time for the things we’d rather NOT spend our limited After Hours window doing. Namely, dinner. Presentation is stunning If we can get into EPCOT at 7 PM, head directly to a restaurant, eat a proper meal, and finish up before 9 PM or so, we’re fed, caffeinated if necessary, and ready to go when the park starts clearing out. Now our three official After Hours hours belong to Guardians, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, Frozen Ever After, Test Track, and, obviously, Living with the Land. Living with the Land The Free Snacks Are Great, But They Aren’t Dinner One of the perks included with EPCOT After Hours is unlimited access to select snacks and drinks at participating carts. Disney currently lists popcorn, ice cream novelties, and select bottled beverages among the included options. We enjoy all three. We also do not want to discover at 11:17 PM that our dinner consisted of Diet Coke, popcorn, and two Mickey Premium Bars. After Hours Snacks! The included snacks are excellent for keeping you going throughout the event. Grab some popcorn on the way from Spaceship Earth to Cosmic Rewind. Pick up an ice cream sandwich after Frozen Ever After. Take a bottled drink for the hike across World Showcase. But we’d think of them as snacks, not a replacement for an actual meal. Mickey Ice Cream Sandwich After Hours runs until 12:30 AM. If you arrive at 7 PM and haven’t eaten dinner beforehand, that’s a long night to power entirely with frozen novelties. We Don’t Want To Waste the Short Lines This is really the deciding factor for us, and there’s another wrinkle here that makes that 7 PM dinner reservation even smarter. A lot of EPCOT’s dining options aren’t sticking around for the entire After Hours event. Much of World Showcase operates on regular park hours, which means plenty of restaurants, food booths, and other spots will begin closing as the park shuts down to daytime guests. By the time After Hours officially kicks off, your dinner choices are considerably slimmer than they were a few hours earlier. And that’s a shame because World Showcase is where some of EPCOT’s most appealing dinner options live. Via Napoli in EPCOT’s Italy pavilion If we’re entering with our After Hours ticket at 7 PM, we’d rather use that early-entry window to take advantage of the full EPCOT dining lineup while it’s still available. Have dinner in World Showcase, grab that meal you were actually looking forward to, and get it handled before the park starts transitioning into the special event. Then, when After Hours begins, food is no longer competing with ride time. Sauce Flight That matters because EPCOT After Hours tickets aren’t cheap, and the biggest perk is the limited capacity and resulting shorter waits at popular attractions. We don’t want to spend 30, 45, or 60 minutes of that precious event window hunting for something substantial to eat, especially when many of the restaurants we’d actually choose have already closed. We want those hours for as many attractions as we can cram into the night. Wagyu Tataki So, the strategy is pretty simple: eat at 7 PM when all of EPCOT is still your dining oyster. Ride after 9:30 PM when the shorter waits become the main attraction. The complimentary popcorn and Mickey Bars can keep us fueled from there. There Is One Catch A 7 PM dinner reservation does require a little restraint. EPCOT has some excellent table-service restaurants, and it is VERY easy for dinner to turn into a two-hour production. If our reservation isn’t until 7:45 PM, the restaurant is running behind, and we’re lingering over dessert at 9:30 PM, we’ve defeated our own strategy. Monsieur Paul For an After Hours night, we’re looking for something relatively efficient. We’d aim for a reservation as close to 7 PM as possible, arrive at EPCOT right when event guests are allowed inside, and avoid turning dinner into the main event. There’s another option, too. You could grab a substantial quick-service meal instead and skip the reservation entirely. La Poutinerie The goal is the same: eat before After Hours starts. Our EPCOT After Hours Game Plan If we’re buying an EPCOT After Hours ticket, this is how we’re approaching the night. Enter EPCOT at 7 PM. Eat dinner. Wander World Showcase or knock out something low priority while regular park crowds are still around. Maybe catch the Luminous fireworks show if that’s important to your group. Disney specifically notes that early-entry guests can see EPCOT’s nighttime spectacular before After Hours begins. After Hours Fireworks Then, when 9:30 PM arrives? We ride. The popcorn can come with us. EPCOT After Hours is expensive, so we want those three limited-capacity hours doing the things that make the ticket worth buying in the first place. For us, that means shorter attraction waits, a delightfully uncrowded EPCOT, and as many rides as our increasingly confused inner ears will permit. Cosmic Rewind Dinner can have the 7 PM slot. So, we can make sure we get one more ride on Guardians at 9:30 PM. Stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for more Disney tips and tricks! 14. We’ve got some pretty shocking news out of Disney Springs that you need to know about, because it very well could affect your upcoming vacation. Wolfgang Puck Bar and Grill Some of our favorite restaurants in all of Walt Disney World Resort are located in Disney Springs. You can find basically any style of food you’re looking for, or snack around at various spots throughout the day. However, it’s just been confirmed that a popular restaurant is closing down PERMANENTLY. We heard a rumor just minutes ago that Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill, located in the Town Center part of Disney Springs, would be closing permanently in September. We headed over to the restaurant immediately to chat with Cast Members, and while the Cast Member we spoke to couldn’t tell us much information, it was confirmed that the restaurant will be closing next month. Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill The Disney World website currently doesn’t reflect any changes, as normal operating hours are showing as far as the calendar currently goes, which is October 29th. There has been no official announcement on what day the restaurant is looking to close. Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill The restaurant originated in California and is known for its dishes with Mediterranean influences and innovative takes on comfort food classics. It’s laid-back, like many parts of California, and is one of the few restaurants in Disney Springs that offers a true brunch menu. The restaurant is moderately priced, with most meals costing between $15 and $35. Some of our favorite items on the menu are the Bruschetta, the Traditional Fettuccine Alfredo, and the Giant Warm Chocolate Chip Cookie is something to dream about. Open kitchen If you’re looking to experience this spot before the closure, we recommend booking a reservation sooner rather than later to be on the safe side. 15. Since we’re the Disney Food Blog, we know one or two things about Disney World dining — the best snacks in the parks and at the resorts, where to find the best hidden gems, and how to get the best bang for your buck! Nomad Lounge Churros There are very few places to get brunch in Disney World, but there is one we are particularly fond of. And it’s not only because the food is delicious and the atmosphere is stunning, but it’s also because you can get FREE mimosas — that’s a win-win in my book! When Jellyrolls closed in 2025, we were devastated to say goodbye to the dueling pianos and the jovial vibes. But we were ECSTATIC when we learned that The BOATHOUSE at Disney Springs would be hosting The Captain’s Sing-Along Brunch with dueling pianos, a vast menu, and specialty drinks. And the best part about this brunch? It includes FREE mimosas! The BOATHOUSE This brunch is currently offered on weekends from 10 AM until 3 PM, and the dueling pianos play from 11 AM until 2 PM. You can enjoy a delicious meal on the water and even watch the Amphicars drive into the water if you get a spot outside! The BOATHOUSE Amphicars The BOATHOUSE has a nautical theme with decor, pictures, Cast Members in nautical uniforms, and, of course, the restaurant being on the water. There’s even a special table inside that’s in a real boat! Which brings us to how to get free mimosas… The Boat Table! If you come to brunch and wear a captain’s hat or a BOATHOUSE shirt, you can get a FREE mimosa! Play into the restaurant’s vibes while getting a free drink at the same time? Count me in! This special is limited to one per guest during your meal. Pearmosa! Brunch at The BOATHOUSE also offers a unique twist on their beloved dinner rolls. These are the same rolls served during lunch and dinner but are topped with a cinnamon icing! Because of the icing and the flavor, they reminded us of a warm cinnamon roll, which is DELICIOUS! It’s also served with whipped butter on the side. The rolls with cinnamon icing! They also offer a variety of entrees, including Shrimp & Grits, Avocado Toast, Crabcakes Benedict, Steak and Eggs, Breakfast Tacos, and Belgian Waffles! Shrimp & Grits at The BOATHOUSE So, if you’re looking for a brunch with a gorgeous waterside view, love live music and pianos with your meal, and are a fan of free drinks, The BOATHOUSE is the perfect option for you! 16. The United Kingdom Beer Cart is serving up a specialty cocktail for this year’s EPCOT Food & Wine Festival! Time for a drink! The 2026 EPCOT Food & Wine Festival has officially opened, and it has a LOT to offer. There are plenty of food booths with tasty items, merchandise items to grab (of course), and even concerts to watch. But don’t let it overwhelm you, we’ve got you covered with everything you need to know. And now we’re heading to the UK Beer Cart to check out a special drink. Menu The special Festival drink this year at the UK Beer Cart is a Sparkling Cucumber-Gin Cocktail. 2026 Menu Now that we’ve taken a look at the menu, let’s check out the drink. Drinks The Sparkling Cucumber-Gin Cocktail is made with Fords Gin, Blackberry Brandy, Cucumber Syrup, Minute Maid® Premium Lemonade, and Maschio Prosecco, and is priced at $17.50. Sparkling Cucumber-Gin Cocktail This drink is refreshing with the perfect amount of bubbles! It’s got strong blackberry and cucumber flavors that work together very well, which was pleasantly surprising. Each sip ends with a nice taste of citrusy gin rather than floral notes, and we’d totally get it again, especially on a hot summer day. OVERALL Lots of people may walk right past this spot and don’t expect it to have such a great offering for Food & Wine, but this is your warning to NOT skip this spot if you’re looking for a delicious drink that’ll be great for a summer day during the festival. 18. While there are several major projects currently under construction in Disney World, including Piston Peak, Monstropolis, and Tropical Americas, there are arguably none more anticipated than Villains Land. After all, a full Magic Kingdom realm dedicated to Disney’s antagonists has been a major want of many fans since it was first rumored in the late 1990s! ©Disney Since Disney first confirmed the project and released early concept art back in 2024, the company has slowly dripped out news on the land’s design concepts, culminating in confirmation of the land’s official name — Villains Land (really) — the land’s overall story, ride themes, and other elements at the 2026 D23 Ultimate Fan Event. However, these latest looks have us wondering something about the land. According to Disney’s newly released story synopsis for the area, Villains Land will offer an “original take” on the company’s antagonists, set in a “vast, foreboding forest.”  Guests who enter will “come across a Wishing Well that’s been torn asunder.  Under most circumstances, a Wishing Well would indicate pure and good energy at work, but something dark happened to this one.  Once upon a time, someone made an evil wish here – a wish so evil it corrupted the stone and broke open the structure, spreading the Well’s poisoned magic throughout the forest.” This release of poisoned magic will, in turn, draw in “villains who have come here to try and claim the last of the Wishing Well’s power.” ©Disney The land will be home to two major attractions: A large Maleficent coaster, which will have guests come face-to-face with the Mistress of All Evil herself, as they “race through enchanted briar surrounding her frightening mountaintop fortress.” ©Disney A dark ride featuring a cavalcade of Disney Villains in which the Magic Mirror will “magically transport [guests] into his mystical Mirror Realm to see things on the other side of the mirror.  There, in his ethereal realm, [guests] will be transfixed by countless Disney Villains conjured in ways only the Magic Mirror can do. A combination of special effects and physical set pieces will bring his Mirror Realm.” ©Disney In addition to these details — and a video preview of the coaster model — Disney also had a physical model of a tree from the forest on hand at D23. Looking at their craggy and detailed dark designs, we were quite impressed… until we started thinking about what Villains Land will look like in the daytime. The Maleficent coaster model After all, the land will be outdoors, so it can’t be swathed in the eternal darkness that the story synopsis or concept art suggests. Will the daytime sunlight make the land’s imposing architecture and design look less threatening? Well, perhaps Disney’s biggest competitor can give us some clarity. The Dark Forest Model at D23 2026 Universal also has a new land themed to monstrous characters: Dark Universe. Like Villains Land, this Epic Universe area — a portal in the park’s parlance — is dedicated to the legendary film antagonists, in this case the Universal Monsters. Also, like Villains Land, Dark Universe has an in-depth backstory and an architectural style with thematic touches that (in case the name didn’t give it away) play better at night. The Portal to Dark Universe Take, for example, the Burning Blade Tavern… The Burning Blade Tavern … or the central Well of Darkmoor, used to feed the vampires who live underneath the land, which can look somewhat muted in the day… The Well of Darkmoor … yet both of which look significantly more imposing as the sun goes down. Dark Universe Given how Disney has presented Villains Land, wondering if the land may suffer the same issue seems to be a legitimate question to ask. Stay tuned to DFB for more information on Villains Land and Disney’s other projects. 5 Rejected Disney World Ideas We Need To Talk About Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! 19. The Norway Cart is joining the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival as a bonus location this year! Time for a new treat! And now we’re heading to the Norway Cart to check out a special Festival item. Menu Over at the Norway Cart there’s one special item for this year’s EPCOT Food & Wine Festival — Caramel Cream and Gjetost Norwegian Brown Cheese Bolle. If you’re not sure what a Bolle is, it’s a filled sweet bread, and Gjetost is a type of cheese. We’re ready! Now that we’ve taken a look at the menu, let’s dive into the food itself! Eats The Caramel Cream and Gjetost Norwegian Brown Cheese Bolle is new for 2026 at the Food & Wine Festival! It’ll cost you $5.49. Caramel Cream and Gjetost Norwegian Brown Cheese Bolle To call this treat interesting and unique is an understatement. The bread is the classic, beloved soft bun we love from Norway. It’s moist, it’s fresh, and the caramel cream on the inside was nice and light, both in texture and in caramel flavor. It was plenty to let you know that the flavor of caramel was there, but it was far from overwhelming. The inside However, the piece of Gjetost cheese on the top totally threw us for a loop. It was incredibly thick, so much so that it coated our mouths unpleasantly, and the taste was so strongly savory that it was a stark difference from the sweetness of the rest of the treat. Our reporter didn’t feel that the flavors went well together, mixing a heavy, thick slice of cheese with light caramel cream, but if you’re someone who really enjoys contrasting flavors in a treat, it may be right up your alley. OVERALL While this certainly wouldn’t be a stop we’d swing by again to grab this Food & Wine treat, you can also find the classic School Bread treat here, instead of having to get in the sometimes long line for Kringla, and that’s a treat we’ll rave about for years to come. We’ve got a feeling the Caramel Cream and Gjetost Norwegian Brown Cheese Bolle really isn’t going to be for everyone, so unless you know you enjoy really complex, contrasting flavors, we’d recommend skipping this one. That’s it for this booth, but there’s a LOT more where that came from! Click here to see FULL reviews of EVERY. SINGLE. BOOTH. at the Food & Wine Festival! 20. 25. It’s time to CELEBRATE, and celebrate BIG, because a popular transportation option in Disney World is finally back open. Back open! Over at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, you’re located in the EPCOT Resorts area, meaning you’re super close to a bunch of other hotels and delicious dining options (not to mention EPCOT itself). For weeks now, the boat dock near Disney’s Yacht Club has been closed for refurbishment, and it took a little longer than expected to complete. We’ve got great news though — it’s finally back open! It’s true! The boat dock closed on August 17th for refurbishment and was scheduled to be available again on August 22nd. However, that wasn’t the case. We checked on the 22nd, and the boat dock was still closed. Finally, today, August 29th, we can confirm that it’s back open! It’s a few days late, but hey, that’s okay! We’re just thrilled it’s back open now. The dock is back open! During the closure, it was recommended that you walk to EPCOT’s International Gateway to get to the park, or then take the Skyliner nearby to get to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. You could also walk to one of the other FriendShip boat spots at the BoardWalk Inn and/or the Swan & Dolphin hotel docks. However, now that the boat dock is back open, there’s no need to stress about needing to find alternate transportation. We’re so happy it’s back open! When we were in the area on August 22nd, we could see that the top wooden planks had been removed, and the structural beams underneath were covered with plywood, so it didn’t look anywhere near being ready. A Cast Member confirmed that construction workers found more damage than anticipated and expected it to be closed for another week, even though the Disney World website listed the dock as open. We’re so glad it was all able to be fixed and is now safe for guests once again. It looks great! Looking for more recent construction news? Check out our posts below. More Recent Construction News! 27. When we’re at EPCOT, we love walking over to the Yacht Club for great coastal food and stunning water views. Seriously, what’s better than a yummy dinner followed by a sunset over Crescent Lake? Filet Mignon at Yachtsman Steakhouse One of our favorite restaurants at Yacht Club closed back in May, and it left us craving their signature bread and juicy steaks. But we have some great news – Yachtsman Steakhouse FINALLY reopened today! Yachtsman Steakhouse closed on May 11th for a refresh, and it just reopened today! We’re super excited to dine at the restaurant soon and get a closer look at all the new upgrades from the refresh. Yachtsman Steakhouse Even if the restaurant looks different, Yachtsman Steakhouse still has the same exact menu as before, and we can’t wait to eat some of our favorites. For appetizers, we love the Signature Bread, Lobster Bisque, and Caesar Salad. For your entree, you can’t go wrong with any of the steaks at this popular steakhouse! And if you’re feeling dessert, the Berries and Cream blew us away. The menu If you can’t get a table at this super-popular restaurant, head to the Crews Cup Lounge next door for some of the same menu items. This includes the Lobster Bisque for $19, Caesar Salad for $16, and the Yachtsman Signature Bread for $8. Crew’s Cup Lounge is themed after a port outpost with a cozy seafaring atmosphere, thanks to wooden detailing and lanterns, similar to the vibe of Yachtsman Steakhouse. The Crew’s Cup Lounge We’ll be sure to keep you updated on restaurant closures and reopenings in Disney World.
