HOT TAKE ALERT! Have you wanted to ride every single attraction in Epic Universe without waiting in wildly long lines? Even better, do you want to do it at night when the sun has gone down and is no longer baking you into the concrete? Universal Nights at Epic Universe, Universal Orlando’s limited-capacity after-hours event, is finally here, and we’re here to tell you firsthand that it is one of THE best (if not THE BEST) after-hours events out there! Epic Universe During Universal Nights at Epic Universe, which happens after Epic Universe closes for the day, you’ll get to take advantage of free snacks and beverages, free refills at Coke Freestyle machines, character interactions, and fewer crowds. This also means you have access to rides with shorter lines during that time, so we decided to see how many rides we could knock out in the park during the event. Universal Nights at Epic Universe is a separate ticketed event taking place on October 3rd, 17th, and 24th, as well as November 6th and 20th from 9 PM to midnight, although those with a ticket can enter the park as early as 7 PM. That gives you a total of five hours to knock out some rides. Tickets start at $179.99 per person. Epic Universe After Hours! So here’s the thing: EVERY ride in EPIC Universe is open during Universal Nights at Epic Universe, so we wanted to see if we could ride EVERYTHING. We arrived right around 6:40 PM to get in line, and when we were walking into the park, wait times were looking decently high, since normal day crowds were still in attendance. Constellation Carousel and Ministry of Magic were at 55-minute waits, Hiccup’s Wing Gliders was at a 35-minute wait, and Mine Cart Madness was sitting at 120 minutes. Crowds to get in! Not much changed when the event started at 7 PM, and we even saw wait times rise (for example, Mine Cart Madness jumped to 150 minutes around 7:40 PM), so we started to get nervous. How To Train Your Dragon — Isle of Berk First up, we headed to Isle of Berk and got in line for Toothless right around 7:25 PM, and he was posted at a 45-minute wait. As a general rule, though, you can usually expect about half the time waiting in line, and we ended up only waiting about 25 minutes. Hi Toothless! After our meet with Toothless, we headed over to catch the fireworks show at 8 PM in Celestial Park (which is stunning, by the way, don’t miss it!), which also marked the end of the day for regular guests. This was also when crowds really started to change, because Team Members were very diligent about checking for after-hours wristbands, which made sure that the only people getting in line were those with tickets for the event. Look at the baby! Right around 8:50 PM, we couldn’t BELIEVE the crowd levels and how much they dropped! We had gotten back into Berk around 8:15 PM to start riding rides, and we made it through every single ride in the land in just about half an hour. They were basically all walk-ons in ways we’d never seen before. Other than waiting behind a few people in front of us, we were on the ride in just minutes. Basically no one at Hiccup’s Wing Gliders! But what about the other lands? Celestial Park Celestial Park also cleared out in ways that blew our minds. Right around 8:54 PM, less than an hour after regular day guests left, there wasn’t a ride in the park that was over a 10 minute wait, including Stardust Racers and Constellation Carousel. Stardust Racers We had a feeling everyone was over at Ministry of Magic and Super Nintendo World, but to our surprise, that wasn’t the case! The Wizarding World of Harry Potter — Ministry of Magic We had a feeling we’d be waiting a long time for one of the most popular rides in the park, Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry, but imagine our surprise when around 10:50 PM, we literally walked through the ENTIRE queue for the ride with absolutely no stops because the line was nonexistent. It’s empty in here! Our second reporter in the park headed to do the same thing around 11:15 PM, just to see if wait times would jump with less than an hour left of the event, but nope, they ended up walking straight through with no stops! This is certainly nearly impossible to experience with this ride any other time of day, so this truly was special. Super Nintendo World Super Nintendo World was one of the busier spots of the night, and we did see Mine Cart Madness spike up to 40 minutes around 11:30 PM, but that was likely due to the fact that the ride had been going down a few times throughout the night. Mine-Cart Madness However, Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge stayed pretty much right around 10 minutes for the entire night, which is a major win. You could have ridden it over and over again, if that’s what you wanted! Dark Universe Being able to visit Dark Universe at night is SOMETHING, so we made our way straight over to Monsters Unchained, which sat at around a 10-minute wait all night. This was another ride you could have ridden time and time again, and yes, we were tempted. Monsters Unchained Curse of the Werewolf was another ride that did experience delays and short closures throughout the night, so we did see it pop up to 25 minutes around 11:30 PM, but that’s still not too bad for this attraction! Curse of the Werewolf So how many rides did we knock off during Universal Nights at Epic Universe? Well, the grand total was ALL OF THEM! And that was also with watching the fireworks, meeting Toothless, getting some snacks, and feeling like we could wander around casually instead of sprinting to rides and spending lots of time in line. Overall, it honestly was the most chill after-hours event we’ve ever been to, and it was easy to get done everything we wanted to without feeling rushed — it may be our favorite one we’ve ever been to! Airfare for a family of four (or five, or six) can take a big bite out of a Disney World budget. Frontier Airlines But if your family can be flexible about which days you fly, there’s a deal that could save you hundreds. Frontier Airlines is letting kids fly free on select flights, and the offer covers more than babies and toddlers. Here’s what you need to know. The Deal’s Details Through Frontier’s Kids Fly Free promotion, one child under 15 can fly free for every adult fare purchased. For the offer, a “kid” is anyone 14 or younger on the first day of travel. That means your tweens and young teens count too, not just the little ones. The catch? You’ll need to fly on a Tuesday or Wednesday. The offer is valid for travel on those two days through the end of Frontier’s scheduled service, but there are some blackout dates: October 13, 2026 November 24–25, 2026 December 22–23, 2026 December 29–30, 2026 February 16, 2027 March 30–31, 2027 So Thanksgiving and the holiday weeks are out. Midweek travel in the fall, early December, and much of the spring is fair game. Frontier Plane at the Orlando Airport You’ll Need a Discount Den Membership The deal is only available to members of Frontier’s Discount Den fare club. At least one adult on the booking must be a member, and membership is only open to people 18 and older. Kids fly free with each adult Discount Den fare, and bookings can include up to nine passengers. Membership costs $59.99 per year. New members (and returning members who previously canceled) pay $99.99 for their first year, which includes a $40 enrollment fee. You can sign up for Discount Den here before or during your booking. Even with that first-year fee, the membership could easily pay for itself if you’re flying more than one kid to Orlando. How to Book The process is pretty simple: Search for flights on flyfrontier.com. The offer isn’t available through third-party booking sites or the app. Include the kids in your search. If you don’t, you won’t see the offer. Look for the Kids Fly Free logo under the Discount Den price on qualifying flights. Complete your booking. The discount won’t appear until you reach the payment step. Booking a lap infant? Frontier says to book them as a child rather than a lap child at the time of initial booking so they qualify. The Fine Print Before you start planning, there are a few important rules: Round-trip, nonstop only. The offer applies to round-trip, nonstop domestic flights within the continental U.S. in select markets, so connecting itineraries won’t qualify. Book at least 14 days ahead. Don’t change your flights. Changing your flight after booking means losing the Kids Fly Free discount. Frontier’s usual change fees and fare differences also apply after the first 24 hours. Airfare only. Bags, seat assignments, and other add-ons aren’t included, and on Frontier those extras add up fast. Budget accordingly! No stacking. The deal can’t be combined with other promo codes or offers and can’t be applied to flights you’ve already booked. No miles. Kids flying free won’t earn Frontier Miles. Check Your Route Some routes are excluded, including several popular Orlando (MCO) routes. The offer is not valid on flights between MCO and these airports: Hartford (BDL) Boston (BOS) Buffalo (BUF) Baltimore (BWI) Newark (EWR) Phoenix (PHX) Trenton (TTN) If you’re flying from one of these cities, you may want to see whether a nearby airport has a qualifying nonstop to Orlando. Check out Frontier’s full terms and conditions for the complete list of exclusions. MCO TSA Precheck Is It Worth It? If your family can fly midweek and you’re flying from a qualifying city, this could be a great way to make room in your budget for more Disney fun. Just make sure to factor in the Discount Den fee and Frontier’s add-on costs when you compare it with other airlines. A “free” ticket plus a carry-on and seat assignments may still cost less than another airline’s fare, but it’s worth doing the math first. For all the fellow Disney food lovers out there, this is a day in Magic Kingdom that may go down in history! The Diamond Horseshoe Pop-Up A NEW pop-up restaurant just opened in the park, and it’s something we haven’t seen before. The Diamond Horseshoe in Liberty Square has transformed from a regular restaurant to Jessie’s Roundup for Cool KIDS’ SUMMER, and now it’s a new pop-up spot, all in the past few months. The pop-up restaurant is now OPEN, and you know we had to be one of the first to check it out. Reservations for this new cowboy-themed pop-up opened up on September 29th, but today, October 4th, the spot officially opened, and a walk-up waitlist is also available if you couldn’t snag a reservation for today, or didn’t realize it was opening so soon. We got to The Diamond Horseshoe about an hour early, around 9:30 AM (the restaurant has operating hours of 10:30 AM to 5 PM), and it was up in the air whether the restaurant would open in time. Scrims were still on the windows, and there wasn’t activity inside, but fortunately, closer to 10:30 AM, the restaurant did open! The Diamond Horseshoe We were thankfully able to get a table relatively easily, but that can easily change throughout the day depending on how busy it is. We absolutely think it’s worth it to check if there are reservations available by using the walk-up waitlist, because you truthfully never know! We can’t wait to give it all a try! The menu for this new spot is full of “frontier fare” and consists of items like Charcuterie, Queso Fundido with Barbecue Burnt Ends, Chipotle Chicken Tostada, Mini Hot Dog Platter, as well as drinks like Caramel Root Beer with Sweet Cream, Enchanting Ember Lemonade, Whinnyin’ Whiskey Lemonade, High Plains Huckleberry, and so many more. Keep in mind, though, that this spot is a fixed menu, not a full bar, due to Magic Kingdom still technically being a dry park, so the only drinks you’ll be able to order are the ones on the menu. ©Disney This limited-time offering is pretty unusual for Magic Kingdom, but we’re really big fans of Disney using spots they already have that maybe aren’t as popular to bring something new and exciting for guests. Prior to the Cool KIDS’ SUMMER retheme, The Diamond Horseshoe served up mostly the same fare that could be found just steps away at Liberty Tree Tavern. Even though the fare was the same, we often found that Liberty Tree Tavern was busier than The Diamond Horseshoe, but with this new experience, we’re expecting that to change big time. Liberty Tree Tavern We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all the latest Disney World news and bring you our full review of this restaurant soon, so stay tuned to DFB! If You’re in EPCOT This Weekend… We Are SO Sorry
Disney4me posted a topic in Disney Food/Restaurants
YIKES! The crowds have shown up again in ONE Disney World park, and for the second weekend in a row, they’re intense. LOTS of people We hoped that the crazy EPCOT crowds we saw last weekend were a fluke, but after visiting the park yesterday, we are worried we might have just found a new pattern. If you’ve been following along recently, then you know that we were shocked to find a crazy amount of people in EPCOT last weekend, specifically in World Showcase. EPCOT Crowds It is currently a very popular time to visit EPCOT with the Food & Wine Festival well underway. A few days ago, the last several Food & Wine booths with delayed openings finally opened for guests to enjoy. So, even though we were hoping crowds would be more manageable this weekend in EPCOT, we were not incredibly surprised to find that the crowds had shown up once again and were ready to enjoy Food & Wine. So Many People We noticed the majority of the crowds at the booths around the park and across World Showcase. However, the wait times also reflected how packed the park was, with some of the highest waits spiking far more than normal. Crowds These are several of the highest wait times we saw in the park yesterday: Frozen Ever After: 70 minutes Soarin’ Across America: 70 minutes Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure: 75 minutes Test Track: 105 minutes Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind: 140 minutes Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Those wait times are incredibly intense, not to mention that you will likely have very long waits in the Festival booth lines around the park as well. And unfortunately, these crowds are most likely here to stay. HUGE Crowds With Halloween right around the corner and the Holiday season following closely behind, we are getting ready to approach one of the busiest times of year at Disney World. And it is not surprising that EPCOT is seeing these crowds first, considering just how popular the Food & Wine Festival is and how many people plan their trips so they can enjoy it. This booth line is OUT THE DOOR So if you are planning a trip to Disney World in the next few weeks and visiting EPCOT and attending the Food & Wine Festival is on your must-do list, then we suggest avoiding the weekends. While it has been busy all week, the high spike in crowds is something that is mainly happening on the weekends. So, when planning your trip, schedule your EPCOT day for during the week, and visit some of the other parks over the weekend. Crowds in Mexico Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass are also a great way to save time on your EPCOT day. These passes will let you skip the lines at participating attractions, giving you more time to enjoy Food & Wine. We also recommend Rope Dropping and getting to the park as soon as it opens to enjoy the lower crowds before the park fills for the day. Food & Wine Crowds Rope Dropping is a really amazing strategy if you are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort and get access to the 30-minute Early Entry. 30 minutes might not seem like a lot, but it can really set you up for success through the rest of your day. Lots of LONG lines Visiting Disney World is an incredible experience, and high crowds do not have to ruin your day. If you have a plan in place, know your party’s top priorities, and are prepared to deal with the crowds, you can still have an absolutely magical trip! World Showcase Crowds We are here to bring you all the news, tips, and tricks you need to plan your next Disney World vacation, so stay tuned to Disney Food Blog so you never miss anything! Disney’s BoardWalk has a problem—it’s becoming WAY too easy to spend an entire evening there. We’re talking dinner, drinks, dessert, entertainment, shopping, people-watching, perhaps an ill-advised Surrey bike ride. Why? Well, there is one main reason, and its initials are HB. BoardWalk Inn As of October 1st, Disney has added another reason for people to make the BoardWalk their evening destination. Hurly-Burly is officially open at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn & Villas. And if you already thought this place got busy at night, well…prepare accordingly. Hurly-Burly Is Officially Open Hurly-Burly opened on October 1st in the former Jellyrolls space, bringing live entertainment back to a prominent spot along the BoardWalk. The new venue is inspired by an old seaside theater, with vintage boardwalk details, cocktails, small bites, and entertainment that changes throughout the day. During the afternoon, families can participate in things like trivia, games, and other host-led activities. Later, Hurly-Burly shifts into more of a nightlife venue with live music. Hurly-Burly And there is one VERY important thing you need to know before you head over. Hurly-Burly is family-friendly until 9 PM. After 9 PM, the venue becomes a space for guests 21 and older. So, if you’re bringing the kids because somebody in your family has been training for Disney trivia like it’s an Olympic event, you’ll want to arrive earlier. Hurly-Burly is open from 4 PM to 1 AM, and there’s also a walk-up beverage window that opens at 11 AM. Walk-up window seating If you’re planning to check out the lounge itself, your phone can save you from wandering around the BoardWalk asking, “How long did they SAY the wait was?” every seven minutes. Use the Walk-Up Waitlist feature in the My Disney Experience app. Save yourself the headache. Hurly-Burly And because Hurly-Burly gives people another place to eat, drink, and stick around for entertainment, it isn’t just adding another restaurant to the BoardWalk. It’s giving everyone another reason to stay. And the BoardWalk already had PLENTY of those. The Cake Bake Shop Few Disney restaurants have inspired quite as much discussion over the price of a piece of cake. The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers brought an elaborate restaurant to Disney’s BoardWalk, while the neighboring Cake Bake Shop Bakery gives guests a chance to grab cakes, pies, macarons, cookies, and other desserts to go. Inside The Cake Bake Shop Bakery You might go there to investigate whether a very expensive slice of cake is actually worth it. We go there for the peanut butter mousse pie. Repeatedly. Chocolate Peanut Butter Mousse Pie Look, some moments in life call for careful financial analysis. Retirement planning. Buying a house. Picking health insurance. Standing in front of peanut butter mousse at Disney World is not one of those moments. We tried the Chocolate Peanut Butter Mousse Pie Cup, and that thing lives in our brains rent-free. Do yourself a favor and grab one while you’re there. Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs Then there’s Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs. The BoardWalk kiosk serves hand-dipped corn dogs ranging from the classics to some truly unhinged seasonal creations. Jalapeño Popper at Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs Blue Ribbon can fire up a masterclass-level corn dog. But we need you to understand our priorities here. If you see anything on the seasonal menu mentioning deep-fried Hawaiian Rolls in any capacity, GET IT. We are not exaggerating when we say we literally dream about those fried Hawaiian Rolls. And they’ve gotten seasonal versions, too. Case in point: Pumpkin Spice Cheesecake Fried Hawaiian Rolls and Haunted Hawaiian Rolls. Pumpkin Spice Cheesecake Fried Hawaiian Rolls This is not the time to compromise on vacation. You did not fly to Orlando, walk 19,000 steps, and spend half your day refreshing My Disney Experience just to be restrained around fried bread. Order it and thank us later. Dinner Is Basically Covered And those are hardly your only food options. In fact, if you want the full rundown, we’ve got an entire guide to the restaurants at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn. You can sit down for seafood and steaks at Flying Fish, grab Italian food at Trattoria al Forno, or stop for sandwiches and baked goods at the BoardWalk Deli (that Reuben does NOT disappoint). Reuben Sandwich AbracadaBar is also a strong option for people who hear “Disney World vacation” and immediately starts looking for the nearest lounge. (Hi. It’s us. We’re people.) You can grab ice cream, pizza, drinks, bakery treats, or keep wandering until another snack inevitably convinces you that you’re hungry again. Red Velvet Cake The BoardWalk understands a fundamental Disney World truth. You weren’t hungry, then you smelled something. And now, you’re holding a receipt. The BoardWalk Games The BoardWalk isn’t just restaurants stitched together with planks; part of the appeal is that Disney has kept pieces of that old-fashioned seaside boardwalk atmosphere alive. There are midway-style games along the promenade, where you can test your skill, win prizes, and discover whether anyone in your family handles losing a carnival game with dignity. BoardWalk games These games may not become the centerpiece of your seven-day Disney World vacation, but it’s a fun way to spend the evening, and competitive families can get out their angst while tossing basketballs or blowing up water balloons. The Entertainment Comes Out at Night The evening is when the BoardWalk really starts feeling like the BoardWalk. Once the sun goes down, you’ll frequently find street performers and variety acts entertaining guests along the promenade. That’s part of what makes this area so different from a normal Disney World resort. You don’t necessarily need a reservation, or a park ticket, or even much of a plan. Cast Members You can get dinner, wander outside, watch a performer for a while, grab dessert, sit by Crescent Lake, and decide what happens next. And now Hurly-Burly adds another layer of entertainment indoors, with family games earlier in the evening and live music after dark. This fun spot has quickly become one of the BoardWalk’s major entertainment anchors. You Can Rent a Surrey Bike Disney rents Surrey bikes around the BoardWalk and Crescent Lake, giving you the opportunity to pedal around one of Disney World’s prettiest resort areas. This sounds charming. It IS charming. It can also become a small exercise in group dynamics. Surrey Bike at Disney’s BoardWalk You will learn things about your travel companions. Who pedals, who CLAIMS they’re pedaling, who starts giving navigation instructions despite traveling on what is essentially a loop. Still, if you want something to do during an afternoon outside the parks, it’s a classic BoardWalk activity. Maybe just do it before the corn dog. Location, Location, Location This might be the biggest reason the BoardWalk stays so busy. It’s conveniently located next to so many things! The BoardWalk sits within walking distance of EPCOT, and it’s also connected to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and the surrounding EPCOT-area resorts by walking paths and boat transportation. Disney’s BoardWalk That means the crowd here isn’t limited to people staying at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn & Villas. You’ve got guests walking over from EPCOT, people staying at Yacht and Beach Club or the Swan and Dolphin, diners heading to reservations, and visitors making a special trip for Cake Bake Shop, Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs, AbracadaBar, or now Hurly-Burly. Disney’s BoardWalk And then there are the people who innocently say, “Let’s just walk around the BoardWalk for a little while.” Those are the ones you have to watch. Three hours later, they’ve had a cocktail, eaten a corn dog, and are heading back to their hotel carrying a bakery box they didn’t intend to buy. It Works Without a Park Ticket That’s another big part of the BoardWalk’s appeal. Disney World vacations are expensive, and not every day needs to revolve around a park ticket. You can easily turn an evening here into its own event. Have dinner, rent a Surrey bike, play a few midway games, watch the street performers, grab a drink, and end up with dessert. Then, because vacation math works differently, probably get another dessert later. Thundering Surf Peanut Butter and Chocolate Sundae Now Hurly-Burly gives you one more reason to stick around. That makes the BoardWalk a potential destination on arrival days, departure days, resort days, or any night when you want something fun to do without joining thousands of people packed in for a nighttime spectacular. Caramel Corn Old Fashioned And Disney isn’t finished changing this area, either. We’ve been watching several major changes unfold around the BoardWalk, including additional dining and shopping updates. The BoardWalk Is Probably Going To Get Busier Disney’s BoardWalk has always had a way of quietly sneaking into a vacation itinerary. Maybe you made a dinner reservation, or you’re staying nearby. Maybe you wandered out of EPCOT through International Gateway thinking you’d stop for one drink before heading back to the hotel (never a bad idea!). We’re in LOVE And then along the way, you’ve eaten a corn dog, watched a magician, spent a questionable amount of money at a bakery, and somebody is trying to convince you that a Surrey bike sounds like a good idea. Hurly-Burly makes the BoardWalk even more of a destination. So if you’re planning to spend time at the BoardWalk, expect it to be busy. Use the Walk-Up Waitlist if Hurly-Burly is part of your plans, keep that 9PM age cutoff in mind, and give yourself a little breathing room during the busiest evening hours. And while you’re wandering the BoardWalk, get the peanut butter mousse pie! Calling all villains, cars, and monsters! It’s your TIME to be in Disney World because it’s literally being built for you as we speak. Food and Wine is BACK! The Orlando Disney resort is always changing and it can feel overwhelming to keep up with the news from week to week. That’s why we like to do a weekly wrap-up of the biggest news so you don’t miss a single thing. Let’s dive into this week’s latest and greatest Disney news! Trust us, this week was a seriously fun one. This week was all about the NEW! New foods, new restaurants, and new hotel details were all the rage around the resort, and we dove into it all, headfirst. Hurly Burly is NOW OPEN! Starting over at Disney’s Boardwalk Resort, the newest Disney World restaurant is now OPEN! Hurly Burly has opened at Disney’s Boardwalk Resort, and we were pleasantly surprised by the spot. Welcome to Hurly Burly! This restaurant, which opens at 4 PM, has games, activities, and bites for all members of the family until 9 PM rolls around. Starting at 9 PM, this venue becomes 21+, and the live entertainment really kicks off. During our stop by the opening day celebrations, we tried the entire new menu as well as several of the drinks. Hurly Burly live entertainment The environment was filled up, and the walk-up waitlist even had an hour-long wait for most of the day! There are several Easter Eggs to find throughout the theming of the lounge, and there’s even an outdoor bar for those who just want drinks to go. The walk-up window! While we do miss the lively audience interaction that we used to get at Jellyrolls, the quality of the environment, food, and entertainment pleasantly surprised us. You can read our FULL review right here. REVIEW: We Didn’t Expect To Love Disney World’s NEW Lounge This Much (And Apparently, So Does Everyone Else) More Details About Lakeshore Lodge This week we also got new details and concept art for Disney’s upcoming hotel, Lakeshore Lodge! This week Disney gave us a glimpse at the hotel lobby and a lounge coming to the resort, and it has us seriously excited. The new concept art of the lobby shows its floor-to-ceiling windows, making it so guests will always feel as if they’re surrounded by nature. The lobby takes inspiration from Pocahontas, and even has a fiberoptic river that will illuminate the lobby floor and flow around a custom bronze centerpiece. You’ll also spot some familiar friends from Disney animation, as well as a blown-glass Colors of the Wind sculpture that has “hundreds of suspended glass leaves.” Lakeshore Lodge Concept Art ©Disney Inside the lobby, you can also find the new lounge called Branch & Brush! This spot will have handcrafted cocktails and views of Bay Lake. The lounge is also inspired by the changing seasons, so it will have “rich colors, natural textures, and an enchanting collection of artwork.” In the center, there’s a color-changing chandelier that will bring all four seasons to life. Branch & Brush Concept Art ©Disney Reservations for Lakeshore Lodge open up this week starting on October 6th for Disney Vacation Club members. The hotel opens on July 1st, 2027! We Are FREAKING OUT Over This NEW Look at Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge Hotel Food and Wine Part Two Is HERE Finally, this week also kicked off Food and Wine Part Two, as we call it here at DFB! This past week was a RARE one at Disney World in the absolute best way! Hurly-Burly For what feels like the past few months, we’ve seen closure after closure in Disney World. Even if they were just temporary closures, like how The Diamond Horseshoe closed after becoming Jessie’s Roundup for Cool KIDS’ SUMMER to become a new pop-up restaurant opening on October 4th, others were long-term closures, such as the Carousel of Progress retheme. That’s why this past week was so special, and we’re on track for a great upcoming week — we’re looking at tons of OPENINGS happening around the parks, instead of closures! This past week, we just saw the opening of Hurly-Burly at Disney’s BoardWalk, a new lounge that we just know is going to be a major hit. We also saw the opening of the new Cole Haan store in Disney Springs, and we finally saw the reopening of Vacation Fun in Disney’s Hollywood Studios after nearly two months of being closed for Annual Passholder magnet distribution. Let’s take a look at what you need to expect in terms of closures and ongoing construction in Disney World from October 2nd through October 9th. Magic Kingdom Walt Disney World Railroad The Walt Disney World Railroad temporarily closed on September 28th for reasons that Disney hasn’t released. Fortunately, the closure isn’t expected to last long. The Walt Disney World Railroad Disney has listed that the train should reopen on October 30th, so we’ll only have to go without it for about a month. When it reopens, though, a reminder that it’ll only be running from Main Street to Fantasyland and back, as the Frontierland station is closed due to construction happening in Villains Land and Piston Peak. Carousel of Progress Carousel of Progress closed on July 6th to undergo a major refurbishment. The work will include completely revamping the scenes in the attraction to make them more modern and represent more recent parts of history, as well as adding a new Walt Disney animatronic at the opening. ©Disney Currently, the attraction is set to reopen in 2027, though no official date has been set yet. Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island An iconic part of the Magic Kingdom is now permanently closed. As of July 7th, 2025, the Rivers of America, including the Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island, are permanently closed to make way for the new Cars area, Piston Peak. There are lots of construction walls up in the area now, and the structures on Tom Sawyer Island have been demolished. Most recently, we saw some pretty great updates to the progress on the site! via @bioreconstruct on X/Twitter Piston Peak National Park will be replacing this area of the Magic Kingdom. Disney has not yet announced an opening date for the new Cars area, but we do know it will feature two brand-new attractions and be themed to look like a National Park. I Got My Son’s First Haircut at Magic Kingdom WITHOUT a Reservation. Here’s the Secret! Disney’s Hollywood Studios Muppets Courtyard Muppet*Vision 3D and PizzeRizzo closed on June 8th, 2025, and Muppets Courtyard has been walled off for construction on the new Monsters, Inc. land. Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano has been closed since May 11th, 2025. Most recently, Disney released new information about Monstropolis, saying that “Monstropolis — the monster city now powered by laughter — is getting ready to give humans a glimpse of what’s been hidden from their world for generations. Which raises an interesting question: if humans were never meant to enter the monster world … why are the doors finally opening to us?” ©bioreconstruct We’ll get to explore their world during H.U.M.A.N. Day, or “Humans Understand Monsters Are Nice” Day, with Disney continuing to say, “Human guests will have the chance to explore the city, meet its citizens, taste unique cuisine, and step into the everyday world of monsters in a totally new way. For the first time, two worlds once separated are meeting face to scaly, furry, and fang-filled face – brought together not by screams, but by laughter.” ©Disney It’s also been fully confirmed that Harryhausen’s will be one of the restaurants in the new land, in addition to Archie’s Square Pig Pizza. Most recently, we got another look at the land, and WOW does it seem to be coming along pretty quick! Monstropolis If you’re missing The Muppets, you can go visit them at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets right now! Price Predictions: How Much Lightning Lanes Will Cost at Disney World in November 2026 EPCOT Coral Reef Restaurant Coral Reef, one of the most controversial restaurants in all of Disney World, closed for refurbishment on September 8th. Coral Reef Restaurant The Disney World website recently adjusted to allow guests to begin booking reservations again on November 4th and beyond, which we’re now considering the reopening date, unless Disney tells us differently. La Signature La Signature, one of the stores located in the France Pavilion, closed for refurbishment on June 30th. La Signature closed The store specializes in French cosmetics and fragrances from Guerlain. During the closure, if you’re looking to buy Guerlain products, they’ll be temporarily available at the nearby Plume Et Palette. Sections of Germany Pavilion On July 13th, both the guest bathrooms in the Germany Pavilion and the majority of the Volkskunst store in EPCOT’s Germany Pavilion closed for refurbishment. The roof of Das Kaufhaus is also under refurbishment. Totally closed While a Cast Member did tell us the store closure was to fix the Cast Member bathrooms out of sight, Disney has not revealed a reopening date for the store or the public bathrooms. Other parts of the pavilion are also seeing construction and refurbishment, but are not causing additional closures. REVIEW: Is This Hard-to-Get Disney World Snack Worth $5? Disney’s Animal Kingdom DinoLand, USA On February 2nd, DinoLand, USA, officially closed to make way for the new Tropical Americas land, Pueblo Esperanza. Most recently, we noticed that large cranes are in the area to adjust the roofs of existing buildings, likely to keep them in theme. Tropical Americas construction We can also see lots of work happening at the front of the new Indiana Jones ride, Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent! Recently, we got an updated look at the new Indiana Jones ride, which looks like it’s coming along well! Via @bioreconstruct on Twitter/X This new land will have three new rides: El Carrusel de los Animalitos featuring classic Disney animals, Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent where you’ll explore a Mayan temple, and Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto that invites you into the Madrigals’ home. We can’t wait to continue to see how it all shapes up. Our Whole Team Is Crying Over This Disney World News Disney World Hotels All-Star Sports Resort Disney quietly announced that Grandstand Spirits Pool Bar is closing for a refurbishment. It closed on September 18th and is expected to last through mid-December 2026. Grandstand Spirits During the closure, we recommend you swing by End Zone Food Court, just a short walk away from the pool, to snag your eats and drinks. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge There are numerous closures taking place around Animal Kingdom Lodge over the next few months that may affect your vacation. The Savanna at Animal Kingdom Lodge August 17th through October 9th: The main lobby and primary entrance will be closed. Check-in will move to the Palace Library during this time. September 28th through October 9th: The north side lobby corridor will be closed. During this time, the north side lobby elevators on the second floor and the outdoor terrace observation deck will be unavailable. October 26th through November 6th: The south side lobby corridor will be closed. During this time, Community Hall, Safari So Good Arcade, the laundry room, the Palace Library, lobby restrooms, and the outdoor terrace observation deck will be unavailable. Convention Center and El Centro Corridor — Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort Beginning on August 10th, the Convention Center at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort began a planned refurbishment that is expected to last through September 2027. Coronado Springs Additionally, the hotel’s El Centro Corridor and surrounding areas will also undergo refurbishment tied to the convention center refurbishment. While there’s no end date for this construction project, we do know that work will be completed in phases, with certain spaces being temporarily inaccessible at times. Boat Dock — Disney’s Old Key West Resort Starting on July 20th, Disney closed the boat transportation at Old Key West Resort, called the Sassagoula River Cruise. These boats usually go to Disney Springs, so now you’ll need to take a bus instead. Old Key West Dock The closure was expected to last through early August, but we still haven’t heard any updates. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa This hotel has been undergoing refurbishments for quite some time now, but some sections of the hotel — specifically the porte cochere — will continue to undergo refurbishment through at least early 2027. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort We certainly hope it’ll actually reopen on this timeline — we’re a little tired of seeing construction all over this beautiful hotel! Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort Currently, work is taking place all over Bay Lake Tower through Late 2027. Bay Lake Tower While currently no major closures are taking place due to this construction, it’s important to note that you may see or hear construction during your stay. Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort Currently, The Turf Club Bar & Grill is under refurbishment until mid-September, according to the original timeline Disney spoke about. The restaurant closed on August 31st, a day after the Turf Club Lounge reopened after being closed since April. The Turf Club Bar & Grill! Additionally, the tennis courts at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort are currently closed for refurbishment. While Disney hasn’t shared an exact reopening date, the current timeline is that they’ll be closed from late August through November 2026. Disney’s BoardWalk Inn and Resort The Promenade Fine Art Gallery closed its Disney’s Boardwalk location on October 20th, 2025. However, the Promenade Fine Art Gallery isn’t closing for good, and it will just be moving to a new location. Promenade Fine Art Gallery Disney filed permits for the Boardwalk titled “Project Amazon” and “Project Bubbles” earlier this year, and now that we have a bit more information on them, we’re thinking that this currently vacant spot could soon become the home of the new Basin on the Boardwalk store on its way! The shop will be rooted in the resort’s classic boardwalk heritage and will offer a sensory shopping experience that is described as “both timeless and distinctly new.” NEW Clues Revealed for Lakeshore Lodge Hotel Coming to Disney World We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all the latest Disney World news, so stay tuned to DFB! 4 New Disney Rumors Swirling This Week: What’s Real, Fake, or TBD Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! This Disney World money-saving hack gets extra points for creativity! Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa It’s no secret that a Disney World vacation can be EXPENSIVE. That’s why we’re constantly on the lookout for ways to save on upcoming trips, from new discounts to underrated hacks. Even if you’re pretty familiar with the most common Disney World money-saving tips, there’s a good chance this loophole isn’t on your radar yet! Okay, so it’s fairly common knowledge that Disney World often releases discounts on hotels, tickets, and vacation packages at various points throughout the year. But did you know there’s a specific type of discount you may be able to apply mid-trip?? Let’s discuss! Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort This loophole comes into play for guests who are doing a split stay for their Disney World vacation. For the uninitiated, a split stay is when a guest stays at multiple hotels on the same trip — for example, a guest with a week-long vacation might arrive on Monday and stay at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort from Monday-Thursday night, then check in at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge for Friday-Sunday night. Wilderness Lodge Now, let’s talk about another Disney World vocabulary term — bounce-back offers. Disney World will often offer guests an exclusive “bounce-back” discount for a future vacation while they’re on their current trip. The idea is that Disney wants to catch people while they’re in the middle of their magical vacation to convince them to book their next visit ASAP! Royal Guest Room Okay, so we’ve talked split stays and bounce-back offers…now here’s how they connect to create a loophole! Coronado Springs Resort Guests who have booked a split stay for their vacation might have a bounce-back offer appear while they’re still staying at their first hotel. If so, they can check whether their second hotel stay would be cheaper with the bounce-back offer applied, and if so, it can be rebooked for the lower rate! Art of Animation For example, one guest reported that this scenario popped up for them on a recent trip, and they were able to call Disney and apply the bounce-back offer for their second hotel stay, snagging a $200 discount just days before their check-in. Art of Animation Now you might be thinking, “Sounds great, but I don’t want to have to worry about that on my vacation.” Our friends at Small World Vacations have you covered! They’re experts in Disney vacation planning and can help you navigate allllll the discount options available to help you get the best deal possible on your next trip. Reach out to them for a FREE quote and start planning the Disney vacation of your dreams! I’ve Tried Every Loungefly Hack in Disney World and I’m Sharing 4 of My Favorites DON'T DO IT ALONE! It seems to be the season of patents for Disney World, as we’ve started to see more and more of them pop up in recent months. Disney World Patents are basically a company taking ownership of something, whether it be a new piece of technology, a ride system, or something similar, so that any time it’s used in the future, it’s clear who came up with that idea. Patents don’t have to be for things that exist just yet, and in fact, most of the time, they aren’t. Or, they’re based on something under secure testing; that way, no one learns what they’re working on and files a patent before they do. In this case, Disney has filed two new patents, but they couldn’t be MORE different from each other. The first patent was filed on October 1st, 2026, and is US 2026/0298443 A1. This is a system for generating collimated non-coherent bright light using a plurality of optical elements. That’s a lot of words, we know, but thankfully, the patent breaks it down a bit. The abstract description is that a system includes a first array of lasers, a first linear polarizer, a second array of lasers, and a phosphor assembly. The first array of lasers is configured to emit a first light, and then the first linear polarizer receives it. The second array of lasers will then emit a second light, and the phosphor assembly is positioned to receive both the first light from the first array of lasers and the second light from the second array of lasers. Together, they’ll create a non-coherent light based on the combination of both the first and second lights. All in all — basically taking the lights of two lasers and seamlessly forming them into one. US 2026/0298443 A1 The second patent was also filed on October 1st, 2026, and is US 2026/0300277 A1. This is a completely different type of patent, as it’s for domain-specific intelligence using natural language. If that sounds like AI, you’re correct, but instead of using the words artificial intelligence, this patent uses the words “machine learning” a lot, which is a subset of AI techniques. The abstract describes this as being techniques for generating a result for a search query — think about what you type into Google when you need the answer to a question. While artificial intelligence isn’t mentioned in the abstract of the patent, it is mentioned further in the description, stating, “With the rapid emergence of sophisticated chat-based artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) models, many users now expect to ask natural language questions and receive back coherent detailed answers.” While the public domain has a growing number of ML-based Large Language Models (LLMs) that provide this, they aren’t very successful with proprietary data or data with a real-time component. US 2026/0300277 A1 All in all, this second patent is basically looking at getting better search results when the user is using natural language, instead of language geared specifically for a computer to understand. The patent describes using “two parameters, dividing the complex search query into one or more components and determining an intent for each of the one or more components using machine learning (ML), the ML including at least one of: a large language model (LLM) or a natural language processing (NLP) neural network.” Could this be something we see implemented in the My Disney Experience App, since Disney has already mentioned AI changes are on the way? It’s certainly possible, Disney has not yet confirmed the use of this new patent. ©Disney We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all the latest Disney news, both inside and outside of the parks, so stay tuned to DFB. The Mistress of All Evil finally has her very own dessert. There’s so much to love about Halloween at Disney World, and this treat is one of them! Look at this new treat! From Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party to new merchandise and Halloween decor, the spooky season at Disney World is one of our favorite times of the year. We love everything it has to offer, but the new eats and treats might just be our favorite. Something new arrived at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and we just couldn’t resist! Disney’s Hollywood Studios doesn’t have the same level of Halloween vibes and decor that you’ll find at Magic Kingdom, but there are some things here and there at the park to get you into the spooky season. One of them is a new treat at Epic Eats! Epic Eats by Indiana Jones Epic Eats is an underrated spot at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. You’ll find it next to the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular and on the way to Star Tours. They have a few snack and beverage options, and one of them is this brand-new Maleficent Funnel Cake for $9.99. This is a funnel cake is topped with powdered sugar, ube-and-matcha icing, vanilla soft-serve, and chocolate horns. We’re going to use two words to describe this — VERY GOOD! Maleficent Funnel Cake The matcha and ube flavors were very subtle, but when combined with the chocolate funnel cake, it created this really unique flavor. It was very similar to the taste of a charred marshmallow s’more, so if that sounds like your thing, we think that you would like this. This looks so creative! The ice cream on top was not the best and did not taste super high quality, but it was the only part of this treat that we didn’t love. The little chocolate horns were more of a bitter chocolate, so if you prefer sweeter chocolate, they might not be your favorite. Look at the chocolate horn For $10, this is a really unique treat, and we would 100% get this again! It also just looked so aesthetically pleasing, so it could potentially be the star of your Instagram post from your next Disney World trip. This was so good! Disney spent the Renaissance era giving us princesses, villains, Broadway-sized soundtracks, and enough emotional damage from animated animals to last several decades. Loungefly has turned all of that into backpacks. And Amazon currently has a surprisingly deep selection. ©Amazon We found Loungefly bags inspired by everything from The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast to movies that don’t get nearly enough merchandise, including The Rescuers Down Under and The Hunchback of Notre Dame. So, whether your Disney Renaissance loyalty belongs to Ariel, Belle, Simba, Mulan, or a movie you still own on VHS somewhere, here’s what we found. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. The Little Mermaid Collection Ariel and Ursula are not exactly suffering from a merchandise shortage, and this list proves it. The Little Mermaid has more options than any other movie in our roundup, ranging from full cosplay designs to bags that are a little easier to work into an everyday outfit. Loungefly Disney The Little Mermaid Ariel Cosplay Women’s Double Strap Shoulder Bag Purse Want to make Ariel part of your world without committing to an entire DisneyBound? This cosplay-style bag does most of the work for you. It’s an especially fun pick for a Magic Kingdom day, a character meal, or anyone whose Disney personality was permanently established somewhere around 1989. ©Amazon view ON AMAZON Loungefly Little Mermaid Iridescent Ursula AOP Mini Backpack Villain people, we’ve got you. This iridescent Ursula all-over-print bag gives the Sea Witch considerably more real estate than she usually gets on Disney accessories. It also feels a little moodier than the standard pastel mermaid merchandise, which we appreciate. ©Amazon view ON AMAZON Loungefly The Little Mermaid Iridescent Pearl Mini Backpack For something a little less character-forward, there’s this iridescent pearl design. You still get the under-the-sea aesthetic, but this one doesn’t require your entire outfit to start singing “Part of Your World” the minute you put it on. ©Amazon view ON AMAZON Loungefly Disney Villains Scene Ursula Crystal Ball Women’s Double Strap Shoulder Bag Purse Ursula gets another turn with this Villains Scene bag centered around her crystal ball. Disney villains have been getting some excellent Loungefly designs over the years, and we’re never going to complain about merchandise that lets the bad guys take over for a minute. ©Amazon view ON AMAZON Loungefly x The Little Mermaid Ariel Allover-Print Mini Backpack Sometimes you don’t need bells, whistles, moving pieces, or enough appliqués to qualify as architecture. You just want a classic character print. This Ariel all-over-print backpack fits that job nicely and makes an easy park bag for The Little Mermaid fans. ©Amazon view ON AMAZON The Rescuers Down Under Collection Yes, there is Rescuers Down Under Loungefly merchandise. No, we will not be calm about it. Loungefly Disney The Rescuers Down Under Mini Backpack Disney made an entire animated movie featuring an enormous golden eagle, an Australian adventure, and Bernard attempting to propose to Miss Bianca, and then spent years giving us approximately seven pieces of merchandise for it. That’s why this bag stands out. If you’re the Disney fan who would rather carry something nobody else in the security line has, this is one of our favorite finds on the list. ©Amazon view ON AMAZON The Beauty and the Beast Collection Unsurprisingly, Belle showed up prepared. There are several Beauty and the Beast Loungeflys available, including library, ballroom, stained-glass, and princess-inspired designs. Loungefly Disney Beauty and the Beast Library Scene Mini The Beast gives Belle a library, and suddenly the rest of us are expected to have reasonable romantic expectations. This mini backpack celebrates one of the movie’s most beloved settings, and bookish Disney fans probably don’t need much more convincing than that. ©Amazon view ON AMAZON Loungefly Exclusives Beauty and the Beast Belle Sketch Mini-Backpack This Belle Sketch backpack goes in a different direction from some of the more elaborate scene designs. The artwork gives it a softer, illustration-inspired look that feels particularly appropriate for the princess who spent half her movie carrying a book around town while everyone else questioned her life choices. ©Amazon view ON AMAZON Loungefly Disney Beauty and the Beast Ballroom Scene Women’s Double Strap Shoulder Bag Purse You knew the ballroom scene was going to appear somewhere. This bag puts one of Disney animation’s most recognizable moments front and center, making it an easy pick for fans who want their Loungefly to be unmistakably Beauty and the Beast. ©Amazon view ON AMAZON Loungefly Disney Beauty and the Beast Stained Glass Mini Backpack The stained-glass artwork from Beauty and the Beast remains one of the prettiest visual motifs Disney has handed merchandise designers, and Loungefly knows exactly what to do with it. This is one of the bags we’d choose if you want something distinctly Disney without going full character cosplay. ©Amazon view ON AMAZON Loungefly Disney Beauty and the Beast Princess Series Lenticular Mini Backpack Loungefly loves an interactive detail, and the lenticular design gives this Princess Series backpack a little extra dimension. It’s another strong option for collectors who already own the more traditional Belle bags and are looking for something different. ©Amazon view ON AMAZON Loungefly Disney Beauty and the Beast Belle Once Upon a Dream Series Women’s Backpack And because apparently Belle needed to dominate an entire shelf of this roundup, there’s also the Once Upon a Dream Series backpack. If your personal Disney Renaissance begins and ends with Beauty and the Beast, Amazon is giving you options. ©Amazon view ON AMAZON The Aladdin Collection Agrabah doesn’t have quite as many representatives on Amazon right now, but Jasmine and Jafar have opposing sides of the aisle covered. Loungefly Disney Aladdin Jasmine Castle Women’s Double Strap Shoulder Bag Purse This Jasmine Castle bag leans into Agrabah’s architecture rather than another straightforward character portrait. That makes it a fun choice for Jasmine fans who want the movie represented without carrying a giant princess face around all day. ©Amazon view ON AMAZON Loungefly Disney Jafar Villains Scene Women’s Double Strap Shoulder Bag Purse Meanwhile, Jafar has arrived for anyone who looked at the princess option and thought, “No, I’d rather accessorize with terrible decision-making and phenomenal eyeliner.” The Villains Scene design gives one of Disney’s most recognizable Renaissance-era bad guys his own bag. ©Amazon view ON AMAZON The Lion King Collection Of course The Lion King is here. You can’t talk about ’90s Disney without eventually hearing the opening notes of “Circle of Life” somewhere in the distance. Loungefly Disney Lion King Mini Backpack This is the classic choice for the person whose Disney Renaissance ranking has The Lion King permanently welded near the top. It also makes an obvious Animal Kingdom bag, which means you’ve basically planned one entire park outfit already. ©Amazon view ON AMAZON Loungefly Disney Lion King Scar Cosplay Women’s Double Strap Shoulder Bag Purse Scar cosplay in backpack form is an extremely specific commitment, and we respect it. This one is for Disney villain collectors, Scar defenders, and anyone who thinks their accessories could use considerably more theatrical resentment. ©Amazon view ON AMAZON Loungefly Disney The Lion King 30th Anniversary Silhouette All-Over Print Canvas Square Mini Backpack If the full cosplay look isn’t your thing, the 30th Anniversary silhouette design offers another direction. The square canvas style also makes it look noticeably different from the familiar rounded Loungefly mini-backpack shape, which may appeal to collectors whose closet has started looking suspiciously uniform. ©Amazon view ON AMAZON The Pocahontas Collection We’re entering the portion of the list where finding character-specific Loungeflys becomes considerably more interesting. Loungefly Disney Pocahontas Cake Mini Backpack The Disney Princess cake collection turns the princesses into elaborate dessert-inspired designs, and Pocahontas gets her own version here. It’s definitely more fanciful than literal, but that’s also why it stands apart from a standard movie-scene backpack. ©BoxLunch view ON AMAZON The Hunchback of Notre Dame Collection Now we’re talking. Loungefly Disney Hunchback of Notre Dame Esmeralda Purple Mini Double Strap Shoulder Bag Esmeralda merchandise doesn’t exactly fill every shelf at Disney World, so finding an entire Loungefly dedicated to her immediately got our attention. The purple design features debossed details and embroidered flowers, giving it a more decorative look than the usual character-print backpack. More Hunchback merchandise, Disney. We have been very patient. ©Amazon view ON AMAZON The Hercules Collection We would like to thank the gods of merchandising for remembering that Hercules exists. Loungefly Disney Hercules Mount Olympus Gates Mini Backpack This Mount Olympus design taps into one of the movie’s most distinctive settings, which immediately makes it more interesting than slapping Hercules on the front of a plain bag and calling it a day. For fans who have been waiting for Hercules merchandise to catch up with the movie’s cult following, here’s one for the collection. ©Amazon view ON AMAZON Loungefly Disney Hercules 25th Anniversary Meg & Herc Mini Backpack Meg fans, your patience has paid off too. This 25th Anniversary design pairs Meg and Hercules, making it a particularly good pick for people who believe Megara deserves significantly more Disney merchandise. We are people. ©Amazon view ON AMAZON The Mulan Collection And finally, we’ve got two very different Mulan options, including one of our favorite kinds of Loungefly designs: the ridiculously specific character cosplay bag. Loungefly Disney Mulan Ping Cosplay Mini Backpack with Charm Ping! Instead of giving us another traditional Mulan princess design, Loungefly went straight for her soldier disguise. That’s exactly the sort of deep-cut choice that makes collecting these bags fun in the first place. Wear this one to EPCOT and wait for the other ’90s Disney kids to recognize it. ©Amazon view ON AMAZON Loungefly Disney Mulan Stained Glass Mini Backpack Double Strap Bag For something more elegant, there’s also this stained-glass Mulan backpack. Stained-glass designs tend to work especially well on Loungefly bags because they’re colorful without feeling quite as busy as some all-over character prints. ©Amazon view ON AMAZON Disney Renaissance Fans Have OPTIONS Amazon’s Loungefly inventory tends to move around, so there’s no guarantee every one of these bags will stick around forever. Some of the more unusual finds are also exactly the kinds of designs we’d expect collectors to notice quickly. And we’ve got a full storefront on Amazon loaded to the gills with Loungeflys to make your shopping quest easier. Loungefly Wall And while Ariel, Belle, and Simba are very well represented, we’re particularly happy to see movies like The Rescuers Down Under, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules, and Mulan getting some attention. Now, if Loungefly would like to keep digging through the Disney Renaissance catalog, we’ll be here. There are still plenty of characters waiting for their turn. We love it when Disney World restaurants think outside the box for new snacks. Now, not all those little food experiments are a hit (Pickle Milkshake, we’re looking at you). But sometimes, Disney World surprises us with a snack we never thought of, and the result is nothing short of heaven on earth. Haunted Hawaiian Rolls That’s how we would describe the Deep Fried Hawaiian Rolls, which are one of our favorite desserts in all of Disney World. So now that Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs just released an Oreo-chocolate version for Halloween, do they still compare to the original? Let’s find out! The Haunted Hawaiian Rolls are $11 at Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs at the BoardWalk. These are fried Hawaiian rolls with Oreo sugar, chocolate fudge, and Halloween sprinkles. Haunted Hawaiian Rolls The Hawaiian rolls were soft and sweet with a French toast-like texture. They’re absolutely packed with chocolate flavors from the rich chocolate fudge sauce and crunchy Oreo pieces. They’re super rich, so they’re satisfying after one or two rolls, and you can easily share the rest. They’re also fairly sticky from the chocolate fudge sauce, so we’d recommend grabbing a fork. Haunted Hawaiian Rolls These are a Halloween version of the Deep Fried Hawaiian Rolls, which are still available at Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs while the Haunted Hawaiian Rolls are offered. They’re fried Hawaiian rolls covered in cinnamon and sugar and sweetened condensed milk for $10, and these are one of our favorite desserts in Disney World. Deep Fried Hawaiian Rolls The rolls are super fluffy, plus the whole thing is hot and gooey and sugary. The condensed milk is almost like an icing on top, adding more sweetness and some creaminess. Ooey and gooey goodness We’ll be sure to keep you updated on more Halloween snacks as they come out at Disney World, so stay tuned for more spooky season reviews! Welcome back, Disney coffee people! It’s time for episode two of the Hotel Coffee Crawl, where I’m on a journey to go to EVERY Disney World resort to find out which one is the best to work from home at based on coffee, atmosphere, and space availability! Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort As a writer for DFB, I have the privilege of working from home. And living close to Disney World gives me another privilege on top of that — working from the resorts! Today, we are headed to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort for my workday! The Polynesian Village Resort is one of Disney World’s Deluxe Resorts and is located closest to the Magic Kingdom. The resort celebrates the welcoming “Aloha Spirit” of the South Pacific, such as tiki culture, and offers a nostalgic image of Pacific Island vacations. The dark woods around the resort are contrasted against brighter hued accents and tropical flowers. The dining locations found here include ‘Ohana, Kona Cafe, Kona Island, Tambu Lounge, Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace, Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto, and Capt. Cook’s. Polynesian Village Resort Coffee – 7/10 For my coffee, I grabbed the Polynesian’s exclusive Joffrey’s Coffee blend at Kona Island. I got the Kona Blend Iced Coffee with Caramel and Sweet Cream. This was really just a basic iced coffee with flavor, and I added a splash of oat milk and sweet cream on top. On the Joffrey’s Coffee website, it mentions that the Kona Blend has a bit of a fruity nuance, but I really didn’t get any of that flavor, unfortunately — it just tasted like a normal coffee. Kona Blend Iced Coffee But I did like how you got a coffee flavor, unlike the Biscoff Latte at Coronado Springs Resort. I added the caramel syrup for some sweetness, and it wasn’t overly sweet, which I appreciated. However, it was hard to taste the sweet cream since the lid was not a sippy-cup lid — it’s a lid where you have to put in a straw. So, the sweet cream just blended into the coffee. For the value, I thought it was great! Even with the upcharge of the sweet cream, my total came to $6.06 after tax, which I think is a great deal! Kona Blend Iced Coffee I had high expectations for this coffee since Kona Island has been so beloved for over a decade and a half! We’ve actually been recommending this spot for a LONG time! And one of YOU also praised Kona Island, saying, “The Coffee Situation at the Poly Is Going to Be Tough to Beat!” And don’t get me wrong, this coffee was very good, but we still have a LONG way to go before I start putting this one at the top! Atmosphere – 6/10 When it comes to atmosphere, I rank it on two bases: Outdoors and indoors, because I split up my workday today and worked from two different places at the resort. Outside was definitely my favorite of the two. I started my workday here, and I had the space ALL to myself! Sitting by the waterside was peaceful, and I really enjoyed the nice breeze. The only downside of sitting outside right now is the construction Disney is performing on the exterior of the resort. Polynesian Village Resort My computer started getting a low battery about three hours into my workday, which meant I needed to move inside. The space I chose to sit inside was Tambu Lounge. This area doesn’t tend to get busy earlier in the day since food doesn’t begin being served until 4 PM, so it was fairly quiet. I do wish I could hear the music more, but all I ended up hearing were the party names being called for ‘Ohana, which was a little annoying. For these reasons, my atmosphere rating is 6/10. Also, yes — I got the ‘Ohana noodles because duhhhh! Tambu Lounge Space – 3/10 The space availability is what really hurt the Polynesian’s overall score because there was VERY little seating when it comes to tables and chairs. Outside, there is very limited seating because of the construction right now — there are only 10! And the inside isn’t much better. The only tables and chairs you’ll find are at Capt. Cook’s (the quick-service location) and Tambu Lounge. Capt. Cook’s The rest of the space throughout the lobby and upstairs is just chairs. And good luck finding an outlet because they’re basically non-existent! I got lucky and grabbed a table at Tambu Lounge with a nearby outlet, but I literally only saw five reachable outlets throughout the whole resort! Because of this, my space rating gets a 3/10. Polynesian Village Resort Overall – 5/10 Based on the coffee I had, the atmosphere, and the space, the Polynesian Village Resort gets a 5/10 when it comes to working from home at the Disney resorts. The coffee was good, the atmosphere was good, but the space? Not so much. Here are my current rankings: Coronado Springs Resort – 7/10 Polynesian Village Resort – 5/10 Great Ceremonial House We are headed to ALL of the Disney World resorts for this series, so stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for more because they’re coming real soon! Okay, has anyone else noticed that Disney has been VERY obsessed with souvenir cups lately? ©Disney From Be Our Guest at Magic Kingdom to Carthay Circle Lounge at Disney California Adventure, Disney has been sharing new cups that will be available for guests to buy at specific spots. We can’t complain, because have you seen these things? We’re obsessed too! We love a good Disney souvenir, no matter what it is. Believe it or not, we’re just a few months away from Epic Universe’s third calendar year of operation! Since its official public opening back in May of 2025, Universal’s latest theme park has seen its operations streamlined, which has led many potential guests to wonder if they still need to worry about major crowds at the park. Mine-Cart Madness Luckily for those wondering, we’ve been tracking Epic’s wait times from the VERY beginning, so we can offer a pretty clear picture of how they’ve developed since the park made its debut. When Epic Universe opened, the ride and its crowds were largely defined by Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry. The latest attraction in Universal’s cadre of Harry Potter rides opened to MASSIVE crowds and waits hovering around 300 minutes on Epic’s opening in 2025. Queue for standby line at Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry Throughout the ride’s first year of operation, the attraction — which often saw downtime and early closures during those initial months — averaged waits between 100 and 150 minutes, occasionally nearly 200 minutes. However, if guests were able to time their arrival at the attraction just right (like, say, right after reopening from a closure), they could get on in about an hour if not less. Line for Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry As the excitement for the park has come down from opening levels — and Universal and its Team Members have gotten a better handle on the attraction and its upkeep — wait times have gone down a bit. Currently, the ride is averaging a 90-minute wait in 2026. Interestingly, however, the ride’s numbers have risen above that average over the course of September 2026, as the attraction is averaging a wait of about 100 minutes over the month. Suffice to say, if you’re heading to Epic anytime soon, you’ll likely still have to wait a bit for Battle at the Ministry, but likely only about 1/2 of the gargantuan 200-minute waits that greeted guests initially. Battle at the Ministry While the long lines associated with the latest Potter attraction were arguably anticipated by many when Epic opened, the park’s other challenger for busiest ride is arguably a tad more surprising. While the Donkey Kong-themed Mine-Cart Madness was somewhat anticipated given its mystique as a previously Japan-only attraction plus its unique track, the coaster is arguably a smaller-scale attraction, and its initial numbers reflected that. On opening day, the ride averaged about 40-to-50-minute wait times; however, that quickly changed. Within weeks of opening, Mine-Cart Madness began averaging waits close to 100 minutes, and has stayed that way (when it’s open, an issue with all of the park’s outdoor rides that are subject to weather-related shutdowns) since. In fact, the ride’s 2026 average wait time is 105 minutes, easily the longest in the park. Mine-Cart Madness While those rides will still require a relatively large time commitment, the rest of the park’s attraction lineup has settled into manageable times. Over the course of 2026 to date, the only other ride to average a wait over an hour is Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge. Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge In a testament to the efficiency of its ride system, the widely acclaimed Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment has averaged 16 minutes this year — a number in the same range as it’s had since the park opened — despite attracting some of the largest crowds in the park. Frankenstein’s Monster If you’ve been holding off heading to Epic Universe due to fear of massive crowds at Universal’s latest theme park, you’re likely in the clear to visit now, as long as you prepare to dedicate decent chunks of time to waiting for Battle at the Ministry and Mine-Cart Madness.
