Disney World vacations have a way of knocking your normal routine sideways. Animal Kingdom You are waking up earlier, eating more expensive food, drinking less water than you think, and trying to accomplish 17 things before lunch. Your body, meanwhile, is still waiting for its usual coffee, breakfast, and quiet moment at home. All of these things can affect how your body reacts, which is why today, we’re talking about bathrooms! Changes in routine, stress, dehydration, unfamiliar foods, and ignoring the urge to use the bathroom can all affect your digestive system while traveling. It is common, uncomfortable, and considerably less magical than anything else you planned for the week. We’ve got eight simple ways to keep your Disney World trip moving in every sense of the word. Keep Part of Your Normal Routine Your vacation schedule probably will not resemble your schedule at home. At Disney World, morning routine can quickly become put on ears and sprint toward transportation. Depending on where you’re traveling from, you may even be dealing with some time zone changes, throwing things off even more! Still, try to preserve one or two familiar habits. Don’t just rush to the first bus in the morning. Eat around the same time. Drink your usual morning beverage. Give yourself a few quiet minutes before leaving the room. If your body is accustomed to having time at home after breakfast, waking up slightly earlier may be better than hoping everything sorts itself out somewhere between Space Mountain and lunch. Your digestive system appreciates a schedule, even when the rest of you is operating on Lightning Lane time. It’s Official: ALL Disney Bathrooms Need This New Feature Drink Water It is very easy to become mildly dehydrated at Disney World, particularly in hot, humid weather. You leave the room with coffee. You grab a soda with lunch. Then, sometime around 4 PM, you realize the only water you have consumed came from the ice melting in your drink. Staying hydrated helps keep stool softer, and water becomes especially important when you are also increasing your fiber intake. Keep an eye out for free water Bring a refillable bottle and drink throughout the day instead of trying to repair the situation with one heroic bottle of water before bed. Electrolyte drinks may also be useful when you are sweating heavily, though they should not completely replace regular water unless a medical professional has advised otherwise. Consider hydration part of your park strategy, right alongside sunscreen and knowing where the nearest snack stand is located. IYKYK: Why EPCOT Experts Go to THIS Restaurant for the Best Free Water Balance the Snacks with Something Useful Disney World offers many opportunities to consume cheese, fried food, cupcakes, and items containing enough butter to make a French chef nod approvingly. Enjoy them. This is vacation. Just try to include a few fruits, vegetables, beans, nuts, or whole grains along the way. Apples, berries, oatmeal, whole-grain bread, vegetables, and similar foods can add fiber without turning lunch into a wellness retreat. Fruit stand Fiber helps keep things moving, but adding a lot all at once can leave you feeling uncomfortable. Ease into it and drink plenty of water so it can do its job. In other words, do not spend five days eating mostly chicken nuggets and then panic-eat an entire container of bran cereal. Your digestive system has already endured enough plot twists. The Biggest Snack Trends You’ll See at Disney World Restaurants in 2027 Give Breakfast a Chance to Work Its Magic Many people find that eating breakfast, drinking something warm, or having their normal cup of coffee helps get things moving. That does not mean you need an enormous breakfast every morning. A smaller meal with fruit, oatmeal, yogurt, or whole grains may be enough to maintain your usual rhythm. Coffee The important part is allowing time for breakfast to happen before you start powerwalking toward a bus stop. Food and warm drinks can stimulate the urge to use the bathroom, and rushing out immediately may cause you to ignore that window. This is also an excellent argument for sitting down with your coffee instead of drinking it while trying to apply sunscreen, locate a missing MagicBand, and referee an argument about who gets to push the elevator button. These Are the 13 Best Coffee Spots in Disney World – From Magic Kingdom to Riviera Resort Walking Keeps Things Moving The good news is that Disney World supplies plenty of physical activity. Walking can help encourage normal digestive movement, and regular physical activity is commonly recommended for preventing and relieving constipation. The less-good news is that guests sometimes ignore the urge to use the bathroom because they are in line, racing to a reservation, or convinced they can wait until they return to the hotel. Try not to do that. Justice for Eugene and Rapunzel You may not want to pause your park day but holding it repeatedly can make constipation worse. Use the restroom when your body gives you the notification. This is one alert you should not swipe away. And yes, sometimes that means telling the group to go ahead while you visit the Tangled restrooms. At least the surroundings are charming. A MAJOR Game-Changer Is Rolling Out at Disney World Bathrooms Set Expectations for Shared Bathrooms Sharing a hotel room means sharing a bathroom. This fact somehow surprises people every morning. You do not need to hold a formal family meeting with printed agendas, but it helps to acknowledge that everyone may occasionally need privacy and time. Bay Lake Tower bathroom Turn on the television or some music. Send your partner to refill the resort mugs. Take the kids for a walk around the building. Agree that nobody will pound on the door after 90 seconds unless there is an actual emergency. Bathroom to the right of the kitchen Some travelers also prefer using a restroom in the resort lobby or another common area when they want additional privacy. The goal is to remove some of the pressure. Feeling rushed or self-conscious will not make the process easier, particularly when four people are sharing one bathroom, and someone keeps yelling that they need their toothbrush. BREAKING BATHROOM NEWS: This Disney Change Will Make Your Trip 10x Easier Pack the Right Kind of Backup With a family sharing one bathroom, you’re likely to run into an unpleasant fact: bathroom odors. A small toilet deodorizing spray is an easy and clean way for a Disney hotel room to stay fresh. Look for a travel-size bottle that can remain in your toiletry bag and use it according to the directions. Shower and toilet You could also run the bathroom fan when one is available or turn on the room television for a little sound coverage. Nobody needs to be embarrassed about using the bathroom. Still, a pocket-size deodorizing spray can preserve a little mystery between you and the people you love. Fans Are Loving This Unexpected Disney World Bathroom News Think Ahead About Medications Some travelers pack fiber supplements, stool softeners, or over-the-counter laxatives. That may be appropriate for certain people, but a Disney vacation is not the ideal time to begin conducting digestive experiments. Before taking any medication or supplement, review the label carefully. Follow the listed instructions and warnings, and consult a health care professional or pharmacist when necessary, particularly if you take other medications, have an existing medical condition, are pregnant, or are choosing something for a child. EPCOT Restroom Different constipation products work in different ways, and stimulant laxatives are generally reserved for more severe constipation or cases where other approaches have not worked. Even products sold without a prescription can cause side effects or interact with other medications. Do not copy a dosage from a stranger online. Do not take several products together unless a medical professional has told you to do so. And do not wait until 10 minutes before boarding Guardians of the Galaxy to discover how your chosen product affects you. Will Disney World Finally Fix This Awkward Bathroom Problem in Its New Park Expansion?! A Little Planning Can Save the Day Bathroom problems may not be the most glamorous part of Disney vacation planning, but neither are blisters, sunburn, or realizing you forgot to pack underwear. We discuss those because preparation helps. Drink water. Eat something with fiber. Keep a little of your normal routine. Give yourself time, privacy, and permission to stop when you need a bathroom. And pack the deodorizing spray. Tub and toilet Your Disney World vacation should include memorable meals, excellent snacks, and perhaps a suspicious number of Mickey-shaped desserts. It should not include spending three days waiting for your digestive system to exit vacation mode. There’s a NEW dining location coming to Disney’s BoardWalk, and we’re chomping at the bit to check it out! Disney’s BoardWalk Several businesses at Disney’s BoardWalk closed in the past few years, which has left a few locations available. Now, Disney is starting to fill in those spots, and we’ll be getting a NEW restaurant called Hurly-Burly! What do we know about it so far? Let’s break down everything. Location First, we know that Hurly-Burly is going to be located on Disney’s BoardWalk, but Disney hasn’t revealed the exact location yet. Our educated guess is that Hurly-Burly will take over the former home of Jellyrolls. The concept art looks similar to that venue, and based on what Hurly-Burly will offer, it would fit well. ©Disney However, there are two other potential locations. Big River Grille closed in early 2024 and hasn’t been replaced with anything new yet, and the Promenade Fine Art Gallery closed in 2025 and is currently still empty. Those spots aren’t as good of candidates, but they could work if they were completely transformed. What It Will Offer During the daytime, Hurly-Burly is going to be a family-friendly venue. Disney has noted that you’ll be able to enjoy games and activities with the whole family, including the kids. At night, there will be live entertainment, and it’ll only be open to those 21 and older. Old Jellyrolls location This reminds us of those lounges on Disney Cruise Line ships that are family-friendly spots during the day and transform into bars for adults only in the evenings. What’s On the Menu As the Disney Food Blog, you KNOW we’re interested in the eats available! When Disney announced Hurly-Burly, they stated that the menu would include “classic, coastal-inspired cocktails and light bites.” Shrimp Cocktail at Steakhouse 71 That was all the information we got, but that likely means there won’t be many full-scale meal options on the menu, which lines up with what most other Disney World lounges offer. Maybe we’ll get some seafood options? Or some signature drinks? We’ll let you know as soon as the menu is announced! Theme and Timeline One big bit of information that has been revealed is that Hurly-Burly will open in late 2026 at the BoardWalk. No specific month or date has been revealed yet. The space is going to be inspired by the turn of the century to match the theme of the BoardWalk overall. It’s going to be so fun! Disney’s BoardWalk We’ll make sure to keep you updated as we get more information about Hurly-Burly. We can’t wait to check it out! See All the Hurly-Burly Info As It’s Released Here! Universal Orlando, like all theme parks, isn’t immune to ride technical difficulties. Sometimes, it’s just one ride that has issues, but on other occasions, though rarer, there are times when entire power outages affect multiple parts of the park. Universal Orlando Yesterday, a power outage at Universal Orlando left about 70 riders stranded inside an attraction that many people wouldn’t assume to be one that needs intense evacuation measures, but alas, harnesses, ladders, and safety ropes were needed to rescue the guests. One of the guests on the ride was interviewed regarding the experience, saying that the ride jerked suddenly, and then Team Members began repeating the same message over and over. She continued, saying, “It didn’t feel like things were being communicated in a well manner, it was just the same thing over and over again, like, ‘Hey, we’re gonna get it fixed ASAP.’ Eventually it was, ‘Oh, the ride may continue at any moment,’ and then it turned into, ‘OK, we’re just gonna get you guys out of there.'” Universal No other rides were reported as needing to be evacuated with help from the fire department during the outage. It’s important to note that there’s no telling what rides or attractions will go down, and that it’s possible on any of them that an unexpected issue could occur while riding. The MyDisney Experience app is an essential part of your Disney World vacation. Cinderella Castle This app is home to everything you will need on your Disney vacation. It holds your hotel reservation and park tickets, can help you make dining reservations, Mobile Order food, and so much more. We really recommend downloading the app before your vacation and learning it so you are prepared! We’re bringing you 5 new changes that the app has seen recently and how it could affect your trip. 1. Changing the Language Back in May, Disney promised a Spanish-language version of My Disney Experience, and it has finally been rolled out. Before the rollout of this feature, most Spanish-language speakers had to use tools like Google Translate to navigate around the app. ©Disney Right now, most pages of the app are available in Spanish, but both Mobile Order and Mobile Checkout are still only available in English. It’s probably only a matter of time before Disney updates those pages, too, though. The feature is rolling out to phones, so you might not see it yet, and the app will only be translated if your phone settings are set to Spanish. However, it’s another app update that plenty of folks have been waiting for, so navigating both Disney World and Disneyland just got a little bit easier. ©Disney 2. Always Check Walk-Up Options Recently, we noticed that both GEO-82 and the Beak and Barrel finally added walk-up lists to each lounge! This means it would be easier to experience each dining option, which previously required reservations to experience. Sadly, it was short-lived. Disney quickly removed the option from the app. This leads us to believe that this feature is coming in the future, but it wasn’t quite ready to be launched. The Beak and Barrel 3. Save Gift Cards to MDE Previously, if you wanted to use a gift card to pay for something through the My Disney Experience app, you’d have to manually add in the gift card number every time you wanted to use it. That’s why we’ve previously suggested saving the gift card number in a notes app so you can copy and paste it into My Disney Experience. Gift Card! Now the app allows you to add Disney gift cards as your default payment method. Here’s how it works: Click on the three lines on the far right bottom of the My Disney Experience app screen. Scroll down and choose MyDisney Wallet under “Account” Click on “Add a Payment Method” Choose Disney Gift Card Type in the 16-Digit gift card number and details Click on “Save payment card information to MyDisney Wallet” Click on “Confirm.” Grab your Gift Cards on sale! 4. More to Come This Year Disney and AccuWeather are teaming up to launch the Disney Weather Check powered by the AccuWeather mobile app.” This new app addition allows access to real-time weather updates and location-specific notifications. The integration is available to those visiting Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland Resort, Aulani, a Disney Resort and Spa, Disney’s Vero Beach Resort, and Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort. ©AccuWeather The app’s search feature will be improved via AI, which will allow guests to interact with it using conversational tones and wording, as opposed to simply typing in searchable keywords. This can be especially helpful for first-time guests who may not be explicitly familiar with official names and terminology. My Disney Experience app ©Disney 5. Be Aware Before Mobile Ordering The My Disney Experience app has restricted mobile ordering at certain locations. There are now four popular Disney World restaurants that don’t allow mobile ordering unless you’re physically at the restaurant! Here’s the full list: Gasparilla Island Grill at the Grand Floridian Resort Capt. Cook’s at the Polynesian Village Contempo Cafe at the Contemporary Resort Geyser Point at Wilderness Lodge Capt. Cook’s Currently, if you try to mobile order using the My Disney Experience at these four restaurants, the app shows an error message that says “You’re too far away,” and prompts you to move closer to the restaurant to place a mobile order. Once you’re near the restaurant, usually around the resort in general, you can still place a mobile order like normal. You can still mobile order like usual in all four theme parks and at other resort quick-service spots not listed! Geyser Point Bar & Grill We monitor these changes to the Disney World app — big and small so that you can use them on your next vacation. It’s no secret that we’re big fans of Disney mystery boxes. Yes, Series 2 of the beloved Disney Parks Trash Can Mystery Series is online right now, and we suggest grabbing them sooner rather than later, because we have a feeling they’re going to be VERY popular. Well, that’s our goal, but maybe your goal is just to have one of them, and we love that too. At this time, we haven’t spotted them in the parks just yet, and there’s been no word from Disney on whether they will or won’t arrive there. If you know you want to start collecting, we recommend beginning to grab them online, rather than waiting for them to arrive in the parks, just in case that day doesn’t come. Grab them online! 2026 has already seen A LOT of changes at Disney World — from the opening of the Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets to the closure of the Carousel of Progress for a massive reimagining — and August will be no different, especially at some of Disney World’s restaurants. Steak Frites From the effects of special events to ongoing construction projects, those planning a trip to the “Most Magical Place on Earth” should be aware of what’s going on with the resort’s eateries next month. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Planning Let’s begin in the Magic Kingdom, where the 2026 edition of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party kicks off on August 7th, with further dates on the 11th, 14th, 18th, 21st, 23rd, 25th, 28th, and 30th. Magic Kingdom at night during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Guests visiting the Magic Kingdom those days who don’t have party tickets must plan their dining at restaurants like Be Our Guest, Cinderella’s Royal Table, and Skipper Canteen accordingly, as those not attending the Not-So-Scary event have to be out by 6:00 PM. In other words, plan for a lunch or early dinner. Malva Pudding Cake at Skipper Canteen Every SOLD OUT Date For Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Eat to the Beat Crowds Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party isn’t the only popular event to kick off in August, as the 27th also sees the start of EPCOT’s International Food & Wine Festival, including its Eat to the Beat Concert Series. The Beach Boys at Eat to the Beat 2025. If you’re planning on eating at an EPCOT restaurant during the festival — itself not a given thanks to the festival’s large selection of food booths — be aware that they may be crowded with Eat to the Beat crowds taking advantage of the Eat to the Beat Dining Package offerings. 2025 Coastal Eats Booth These packages — which became available on July 16th — include: An entrée and dessert, or one full buffet (where applicable)—as well as a nonalcoholic beverage (or alcoholic beverage for Guests 21 and older) and participating restaurants, outside of Spice Road Table, where guests get 2 small plates, a shared dessert platter and a nonalcoholic beverage (or alcoholic beverage for Guests 21 and older). One guaranteed seat per person to one Eat to the Beat concert on the same day, meaning that this is the ONLY way to get guaranteed seating to the most in-demand concerts. Eat to the Beat All of that can be a lot to sort through. That’s where our Guide to Disney World Dining pulls it all together so you can stop stressing and focus on the fun without feeling like you’re missing a thing! 3 NEW Restaurants, Attraction Overhauls, and Food and Wine Festival Updates — Every Major Disney Announcement You Missed Hotel Roundup Moving on to Disney World’s hotels, the Turf Club Lounge at Saratoga Springs Resort will reopen in August after a month-long refurbishment. Then, the Turf Club Patio will be briefly closed from early through mid-August, and finally, the Turf Club Bar & Grill will be closed from August to September, with the aforementioned Turf Club Lounge remaining open. Turf Club Bar & Grill Over at the Yacht Club Resort, the Yachtsman Steakhouse, the resort’s popular New England-themed eatery, is scheduled to reopen in August following a closure and refurbishment that began earlier this spring. Yachtsman Steakhouse The Grand Floridian Cafe — located at the Grand Floridian Resort (shocking, we know) — is closing for refurbishment in July and will remain closed through October, meaning it’ll not be available at all in August. Unlock a whole new world of Disney World snacking possibilities with our beloved plastic cheese! Mickey Pretzel If you’ve been with us for a while, you’ve probably heard about our unbreakable bond with plastic cheese, which is what we affectionately call those little cups of cheese sauce you can find at some quick service spots around Disney World. It’s typically priced around $1 at the spots that have it, and trust us when we say it can SERIOUSLY level up some of the most popular Disney World snacks! Before we get started, let’s clarify a few questions we hear when the topic of plastic cheese comes up. First, this is NOT the same as the cheese sauce that you get prepackaged when you buy a Mickey pretzel — it has a richer cheesy flavor and it’s usually served warm instead of the cold and sometimes congealed texture of the prepackaged cheese dips. You can find the “real” plastic cheese at select quick service restaurants around Disney World. Plastic Cheese from Backlot Express Also, of course, the cheese isn’t actually plastic! That’s just the nickname that we came up with because it looks so smooth and fake once it’s been poured into the serving cup. Now that we’ve covered the basics, let’s take a look at five Disney World snacks that seriously become 10 times better when paired with plastic cheese! Corn Dog Nuggets from Casey’s Corner We have to start off with one of our FAVORITE plastic cheese snack pairings — the Corn Dog Nuggets at Casey’s Corner! The Corn Dog Nuggets are classic comfort food. Plus, they hit the sweet spot where they can either be a hearty snack if you need something to hold you over, OR a meal in themselves if you’re looking for something on the lighter side! Casey’s Corner Corn Dog Nuggets The Corn Dog Nuggets don’t automatically come with plastic cheese, BUT you can get it at Casey’s Corner as an add-on for just $1 more! And trust us, we consider that one of the best dollars we can spend in Disney World. Plastic cheese is the perfect pairing to balance out the texture of the cornbread, plus add an extra kick of flavor to take this snack up a notch! French Fries A longtime theme park staple, you’ll find plain French fries on the menus of lots of quick service spots around Disney World. Some places also offer loaded fries that we LOVE, like the Black Garlic, Truffle, and Parmesan Fries, which are available at several different parks. The loaded fries typically have plenty of toppings for us as-is, but it’s a different situation entirely when it comes to their plain counterparts! Black garlic, truffle, and parm fries The plain fries at Disney World are pretty basic in terms of flavor and preparation. In other words, they’re perfectly “fine,” but they tend to benefit from the extra flavor of a dipping sauce to really take them home. That’s why you’ll find us reaching for the plastic cheese ASAP when we’ve got an order of plain French fries on our plate! We love you, plastic cheese! Many quick service restaurants offer a condiment bar with free dipping sauce options like ketchup or BBQ, depending on the location. But if there’s a cup of cheese on the menu, we don’t mind spending the extra $1 to up our French fry dipping sauce game! Mickey Pretzel One of the most iconic Mickey-shaped snacks around Disney World is the famous Mickey pretzel! As we mentioned before, Mickey pretzels are typically served with a cup of prepackaged cheese dip, which is different from the “real” plastic cheese! It can serve in a pinch if you’re just looking for something to cut through the dryness of the pretzel. But if you REALLY want to up your Mickey pretzel experience, we think it’s worth stopping by a restaurant for a cup of plastic cheese, especially if it’s available nearby! Mickey Pretzel In more exciting cheese news, some of the “fancier” pretzels around Disney World are served with a side of beer cheese, like the pretzel nuggets at Block & Hans in EPCOT, which is one of our favorite hidden gem snacks! Pretzel Nuggets with Beer Cheese Speaking of cheese upgrades, the beer cheese that comes with the pretzel nuggets is fairly small, so we usually pay for an extra side of it when we snag this snack! Pizza Planet Spring Rolls When the new snack stand in Toy Story Land opened, we were THRILLED to see that this spot finally brought the Spring Roll Party to Hollywood Studios with the Pizza Planet Spring Rolls! These are similar to the Pepperoni and Cheese Spring Rolls in Magic Kingdom, and come with a side of marinara sauce for dipping. Pizza Planet Spring Rolls The marinara sauce obviously pairs well with the pizza-inspired spring rolls. But, out of curiosity, we decided to swing by Woody’s Lunch Box next door for a cup of plastic cheese, and we actually loved the flavor combo with the pizza spring rolls! If you’re looking to switch things up, give it a try and let us know if you enjoyed it as much as we did! House-Made Chips at Dockside Diner Rounding out our list, we’ve got another Disney’s Hollywood Studios snack pairing, with the House-Made Potato Chips at Dockside Diner! These are crunchy, well-seasoned, and a great way to get your potato chip fix without opting for a standard bag of Lay’s that you can get at home. But if you really want to amp these chips up, add a cup of cheese! House-made chips Dockside Diner typically has plastic cheese on tap, and this is another case where we think it’s well worth the $1 to take these chips from great to amazing! Plastic Cheese! If you’re as much of a plastic cheese enthusiast as us, welcome to the club, here’s your unofficial uniform! We’ve got a Plastic Cheese Shirt available on the DFB Store to help you rep your love of this undeniable Disney icon. Why We’re RUNNING To Disney Springs On July 25th
Disney4me posted a topic in Disney Food/Restaurants
When we’re at Disney World, one of our favorite ways to cool down is with an ice cream. And where’s a better place to do that than the iconic Ghirardelli Soda Fountain & Chocolate Shop at Disney Springs? Ghirardelli Hot Fudge Sundae Saturday, July 25th is National Hot Fudge Sundae Day, and to celebrate, Ghirardelli is offering half off hot fudge sundaes both at the Disney Springs location and nationwide! To celebrate National Hot Fudge Sundae Day, Ghirardelli is offering their mini-sized World Famous Hot Fudge Sundae for only $7.25! This sundae usually costs $16.50 at the Disney Springs Ghirardelli, so it’s 55% off. This deal is only available on July 25th, 2026, for 7/25, on National Hot Fudge Sundae Day. To get the deal, just ask for the “National Hot Fudge Sundae Day offer” when you order. It’s that easy! ©Ghirardelli The Disney Springs Ghirardelli location has been temporarily relocated while the original location is undergoing refurbishment. The new temporary location is in the Town Center area of Disney Springs, at the former home of Sprinkles Cupcakes and the site of the Black Tap CrazyShakes pop-up this spring. Temporary Ghirardelli location The new location also has new hours, so make sure you don’t miss your chance for this one-day-only deal! Monday: 10:00 AM – 11:00 PM Tuesday: 10:00 AM – 11:00 PM Wednesday: 10:00 AM – 11:00 PM Thursday: 10:00 AM – 11:00 PM Friday: 10:00 AM – 11:30 PM Saturday: 10:00 AM – 11:30 PM Sunday: 10:00 AM – 11:00 PM Cookie Crumble Hot Fudge Sundae We stopped by to check it out, and while the temporary location is lacking some of the whimsy that the original location had, we are happy that we can still get our Ghirardelli fix at all during the renovation! You’ll still be able to shop plenty of those little chocolate squares… Ghirardelli chocolates …and all of the ice cream treats and milkshakes you love from Ghirardelli are still available in the temporary location, too! Your favorites are still available We’ll be sure to keep you updated on more food deals at Disney World. Stay tuned to Disney Food Blog for more Disney food news! Cast Members spend a ton of time inside the Disney parks, either at work or for fun! So we trust their recommendations for making our Disney days better. Our Disney bag is full of essentials! What you pack in your park bag can truly make or break your day in the Disney parks. Whether you tend to overpack (like me) or just focus on the absolute essentials, we can all agree that they are worth the packing space. Once a Cast Member told us about this one item, we never looked back! DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. It’s not a shock that a popular recommendation for a park bag essential is a portable charger. With the amount of time you spend in the Disney parks, paired with using your phone for videos and photos and using the MyDisney Experience app, your phone battery is going to run out quick! You don’t want to be stuck in the parks without a charger, so that’s why the FuelRod Max 10 is the perfect solution. Get the FuelRod Max 10 Here! Charging magnetically! This is a HUGE Fuel Rod portable charger that’s been completely revamped from the form we once knew. We’ll be completely honest, at $65 for the initial kit, it’s pretty expensive. However, the huge advantage here is that you can swap it for free at Disney World, so you’re never without power. The key features of the product include multiple charging ports, a lit battery life indicator on the side, a button to turn power off and on, multiple chargers for different charging ends, MagSafe so you can magnetically charge your phone, and swappable for FREE at Disney World. FuelRod MAX10 It’s beefy; both in charge and capability. It’s got a lot more power and potential than its previous standard round rod model, and that makes it worth the investment. It’s good to use anytime of day, on multiple devices, can be easily swapped for another with a full charge, and even used when it’s raining magnetically, without the fear of ruining your charging port or expensive cord. Magnetic charging included There are a couple of things that took some getting used to! It’s bulky when you’re using it to charge magnetically. Small hands may struggle to use their phone while it’s connected. It’s also slower to charge magnetically than plugged in, and its heaviness doesn’t make it pocket-friendly. Side button We give this a 4.5 out of 5, only because of the bulkier, heavier feel, which is practically unavoidable but still not ideal. That being said, 4.5 out of 5 is pretty dang great! It seriously lasts us so long (and we go through an insane amount of battery on our phones taking pictures and videos of everything), and we love the ability to switch it out for free at Disney. view ON AMAZON We’re always on the hunt for the latest and greatest Disney souvenirs and essentials, so don’t forget to stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for more! Gordon Ramsay at The Carnaby is now open at Downtown Disney, and it’s already super popular. Not only is it a brand-new, one-of-a-kind concept by celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, but it’s every Disney fan’s dream, with an outdoor terrace featuring great views of the fireworks. Gordon Ramsay Fish & Chips So it’s really no surprise that all reservations until the end of September were snatched up within 15 minutes of the booking launch. But if you also lost the OpenTable War trying to get a reservation there, then today is your lucky day. It just got easier to dine at The Carnaby! After selling out initial reservations through September, Gordon Ramsay at The Carnaby has now increased its nightly dining capacity, expanded dinner hours, and released new reservations as part of its phased opening. You can reserve these newly released tables right now for dates through December 30th, 2026, on both OpenTable and the restaurant’s website. Beef Wellington Gordon Ramsay at The Carnaby is now open nightly for dinner from 4 PM to 10 PM, adding an extra half hour from the previous 4:30 to 10 PM hours. Reservations are open for nearly every day until the end of the year at every hour and half hour. They also accept walk-ins, which should be successful with their increased availability, but The Carnaby still strongly recommends advance reservations. Parker “The excitement surrounding The Carnaby has exceeded even our highest expectations,” said Robert Earl, founder of Earl Enterprises, which is a co-owner of The Carnaby in collaboration with Gordon Ramsay. “Seeing initial reservations sell out within minutes affirmed what we believed from the beginning: guests were ready for a dining experience unlike anything else at Downtown Disney. As we thoughtfully expand capacity, we’re excited to welcome even more guests while maintaining the exceptional hospitality and culinary experience that define The Carnaby.” Gordon Ramsay at the Carnaby If you’re headed to The Carnaby for dinner, we strongly recommend the Parker Rolls for a starter, which are warm and fluffy brioche rolls. The Beef Wellington is famous for a reason, and it was utter perfection! As for side dishes, the Smoked Gouda Mac & Cheese was thick and creamy with a strong smoke flavor. And to finish with dessert, the Sticky Toffee Pudding is a warm, decadent must-have! There’s a reason you sleep better at Disney World than you do at home, and it’s not just the exhaustion from 20,000 steps a day — it’s the pillows. Pillows Disney hotels invest serious money in bedding that actually supports a good night’s sleep, and once you’ve experienced it, your own pillows at home start to feel like a punishment. The good news is that the exact hospitality-grade pillows used in hotels across the country are now available on Amazon! Here’s what you need to know before you add these to your cart. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. The Pillow That Explains Why Hotel Sleep Hits Different ©Amazon You know that specific kind of deep, uninterrupted sleep you only seem to get on vacation? A lot of that comes down to pillow construction, not just being tired from the parks. Cheap pillows flatten out fast and leave side sleepers without any real neck support by the middle of the night. The Sobel Westex Sobella Hotel Pillow Standard Size is built to solve exactly that problem. It’s filled with hypoallergenic, extra-fine gel fiber in a 300 thread count cotton cover, and the medium-high loft holds its shape under the weight of your head so your neck stays aligned all night. Sobel Westex supplies pillows to more than 3 million hotel and resort beds across the country, so if this pillow feels familiar, that’s because you’ve probably slept on it already! view ON amazon You’re Sleeping Wrong If You Only Own One Pillow ©Amazon Here’s a scenario a lot of us know too well: one pillow is fine, but two pillows change everything, especially if you like to prop yourself up or switch positions throughout the night. That’s where the Sobel Westex 2 Pack Sobella Standard Size comes in handy. This set gives you the same lofty, hypoallergenic gel fiber fill and 300 thread count cotton cover in a low-profile design that’s especially comfortable for stomach and back sleepers. It’s also machine washable, which matters more than people realize until they’re dealing with a pillow they can’t actually clean. And having a matching pair also just makes your bed look more put together, which is a nice bonus! view ON amazon This Is the Upgrade Tall Sleepers Didn’t Know They Needed ©Amazon If you’ve ever slept in a king bed and immediately noticed how much better the pillows felt, there’s a reason for that too. Bigger pillows mean more surface area, more support, and way less shifting around during the night. The Sobel Westex King Size Sobella Pillow brings that same hospitality-grade comfort to a larger format. The medium-high loft resists compression, so you’re not stuck dealing with a flat, lifeless pillow by 2 AM. It’s especially worth considering if you and a partner share a bed and want a little extra room to stretch out. view ON amazon At the end of the day, good sleep makes everything else easier, including surviving a full day of Disney World lines and Florida heat. These Sobel Westex pillows bring that hotel-quality comfort home, so it’s always a good time to grab one! A popular Disney Springs dessert shop is turning 10 years old! While Gideon’s Bakehouse only opened its Disney Springs location in 2021, the local chain started in 2016 at East End Market. Gideon’s Bakehouse So to celebrate the special anniversary, Gideon’s Bakehouse is having some limited-edition baked goods and merch available exclusively at its East End location on Sunday, July 19th! The owner of Gideon’s Bakehouse, Steve Lewis, took to the bakery’s social media accounts to announce the heartfelt anniversary. “This Sunday at 10am we’ll be celebrating 10 years of Gideon’s making its first public appearance. If you know the story, after selling cookies out of my kitchen for 8 years, I had my first pop-up at the East End Market on 7/19/2016 and never left! I was working at the mall and trying to pull myself out of the long struggle from losing everything, and East End saved me. The community around East End supported me. And because of you, Gideon’s sparkled from the shadows. We have stayed local, turning down every offer to nationalize. I’m still a single-owner with no investors. We’ve grown to a 200+ team. We’ve raised funds for cats, bats, turtles, owls, sharks, bees, and wolves. We’ve weathered pandemics, egg prices, hurricanes. It’s been a ride that has brought so many laughs and tears.” Gideon’s Bakehouse East End location To commemorate the tenth anniversary of Gideon’s Bakehouse, an exclusive cake slice will be featured on the menu only at the East End Market location on Sunday, July 19th! Lorcana is a super popular Disney-themed trading card game. Your favorite Disney heroes and villains are being attacked, and it’s up to you to save them! The game features iconic Disney characters like Mickey and Friends and princesses, but has expanded to include recent hits like Monsters, Inc. and Turning Red. We love Lorcana! But Lorcana is so popular that it’s causing chaos at in-person events. The Lorcana pre-release at Disney Springs yesterday was so popular that the police were called in for crowd control, and the hours-long line was so long that we saw someone ordering DoorDash to keep their spot. But somehow, the Lorcana pre-release in London, England, yesterday was even MORE crowded! The Disney Store on Oxford Street in London is the only Disney Store in England, so with a rare Lorcana drop, crowds were expected. But what Disney wasn’t prepared for? A line to start forming at 5 PM the night before the store opened at 9 AM! About 600 people were in the line by the store’s opening, according to The Standard, which snaked for almost half a mile. © @itsamecooper via The Standard According to multiple eyewitnesses, the situation escalated early Friday morning when large groups of scalpers stormed the queue, pushing and shoving to get to the front. Scalpers, people who buy high-profit items for resale, have been targeting Lorcana recently. Popular and rare editions of Disney’s Lorcana cards retail for £100 at the Disney Store, but are already being sold on eBay for £650. Lorcana cards One Lorcana fan there told The Standard that a group of at least 100 scalpers “descended” on the queue, coming in from all sides as they pushed to get to the front. “They were obviously fighting between themselves. One was trying to get in through the front of the Disney Store. Another had stolen the tickets [from Disney Store staff] and was handing them out to his friends,” she said. “It was quite frightening. It was chaos. Any order was completely gone. They ruined what could have been an amazing experience.” © @itsmecooper Tickets for the pre-release were scheduled to be distributed at 7 AM, with the store opening at 9 AM. But after the chaos caused by the scalpers, Disney canceled the Lorcana event via a Facebook post. The Lorcana pre-release would no longer take place, and the Disney Store had a delayed opening later that morning. ©Disney The statement read: “The safety of our Guests, Cast Members and the local community is always our highest priority, and following the disruption outside the Oxford Street store overnight, we made the decision, alongside local authorities, to open later than usual this morning. As a result, today’s planned in-store release of the Disney Lorcana Curator’s Collection: Heroines Edition will no longer take place. We know how disappointing this is for our fans, and we sincerely apologise to those affected. We are working internally to review the process for future in-store launches.” ©Disney We’ll be sure to keep you updated on future Lorcana events. After the high demand this weekend, our team of Disney experts is confident that the process will change soon. Stay tuned to Disney Food Blog for more Disney news! Flying into or out of the Orlando Airport this summer? You need to read this first! Orlando International Airport If you’re heading on a flight soon, there are some tips you need to consider before traveling through Orlando. Summer travel can be chaotic, but we’re here to help you navigate the ins and outs. These are the new rules for flying into or out of MCO! Don’t Forget Your Real ID First of all, do NOT forget your REAL ID. The TSA website notes, “As of May 7, 2025, state-issued driver’s licenses and IDs that are not REAL ID compliant are no longer accepted as valid forms of identification at airports. Passengers should either travel with an acceptable alternative form of ID, like a passport, or enroll for a state-issued REAL ID through their state DMV offices.” ©DHS.gov This means you need to get your identification sorted BEFORE you go to the airport. Then, before you leave your house, double- and triple-check that you have your REAL ID on your person and are ready to go through security. It’ll make the whole process smoother! (Trust me — I’ve lost my ID in an airport before, and it was not a fun time.) Read More About REAL ID Requirements Here! Arrive Earlier Than You Used To Flying has gotten more complicated in recent years, and the Orlando International Airport seems to get busier year after year. That means you may need to arrive at the airport earlier than you used to if you’re flying home from here. The MCO website says: “The Greater Orlando Aviation Authority recommends arriving at the security checkpoint two hours before your scheduled departure time, but please check directly with your airline for specific recommendations for your flight.” Orlando International Airport We also recommend increasing that arrival time if you are traveling during a busy season, like a long weekend, around a holiday, during spring break season, or during the summer. Remember, Orlando is a tourist town, and busy tourism times are going to make the airport chaotic! 7 Things Orlando Airport Wishes You Knew When Traveling to Disney World Use MCO Reserve If You Can One of the greatest perks of flying through MCO is the completely free MCO Reserve program. With this program, you can make a reservation to go through security. You simply go to the MCO Reserve website, input your flight information, and then choose a time when you’d like to go through the security checkpoint. Orlando International Airport This isn’t available for all flights or times of day, and it can fill up, so you need to do it in advance. But if you can manage to use MCO Reserve, you could save a significant chunk of time at security! We’ve used this in the past and been through in five minutes (though that’s not guaranteed). Learn More About MCO Reserve Here! Book Your Flights for Less Busy Days If you’re really looking to avoid crowds at the airport, then you can book your arrival and departure dates for the less-busy days of the week. The days that are typically less busy at MCO are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Orlando International Airport Obviously, weekends are peak travel days, but Mondays and Fridays are pretty popular too, as folks arrive or depart for their long weekend trips. And if you’re going toward the end of summer, the days surrounding Labor Day weekend are bound to be busier than other weeks. The Best Orlando Airport Hacks! Pack Smart and Efficient Saving time at the airport actually starts at home or in your hotel room, when you’re packing your bags and getting ready to travel. Make sure you’re packing efficiently to go through security and board the plane — have your ID, Passport, boarding pass, and phone easily accessible. Keep anything you might need on the plane in your personal item. Baggage claim! When you get dressed, think about security requirements. Don’t wear anything that might set off the metal detectors or get in the way of you going through security quickly. And if you want to avoid baggage claim, pack light and use compression packing cubes to fit as much as possible into your carry-on. Is This the Best Carry-On to Use at the Orlando Airport? Check for New Direct Flight Options And last but not least, be on the lookout for new flights! As the Orlando International Airport grows and becomes more popular, many airlines are adding new direct flights to this location. We see it happen frequently during busy travel seasons like the summer. Orlando International Airport Even if there wasn’t a good flight available a few weeks ago, you can check back and see if there have been any new additions that work for you! If you travel smart, you’re bound to have a much smoother time navigating MCO. Follow us at DFB for more travel tips and tricks! Here at Disney Food Blog, going to Disney World is one of our favorite things to do. We’re at Disney World almost all day, every day, 24/7, partly because it’s our job, and partly because we just love it! But the one thing we don’t like about going to Disney World? Getting there! Traffic can be brutal. And we’re talking basically parked-on-the-road-for-45-minutes brutal. But Disney heard our pleas, because a brand-new road improvement at Disney World just fixed this annoying problem with a MAJOR change! If you’ve ever been parked on I-4 trying to head to Disney World, you’re not alone. This Florida highway runs between Daytona Beach and Tampa, and has a reputation for heavy traffic and significant delays. But lucky for you, Florida’s Moving I-4 Forward program just began, bringing a major change that will improve traffic flow on I-4. Exit 62 at World Drive and State Road 417 now splits into two separate ramps labeled 62A and 62B. To reach the Disney World theme parks and resorts, drivers will now take Exit 62B onto World Drive northbound. ©MovingI4Forward These two exits at World Drive are now permanently separated. Drivers on I-4 eastbound should familiarize themselves with the change to choose the correct ramp and navigate with a GPS while getting used to the change. World Drive This change to I-4 isn’t the only road improvement coming to Disney World. The Central Florida Tourism Oversight District plans to improve the intersection of Buena Vista Drive and Western Way to facilitate traffic through the area. Between commuter traffic, Disney College Program buses, and families driving to Disney World, this area is known to get pretty backed up at peak times. Disney will build a new grade-separated interchange, with Buena Vista Drive elevated above Western Way, with interconnected ramps to facilitate traffic movements. ©CFTOD They also plan to widen Western Way from the State Road (SR) 429/ Western Way interchange east to the Coronado Springs Resort. The street will be widened 2.45 miles from the CFTOD/Turnpike property boundary near the SR 429/Western Way interchange to approximately 535 feet north/west of the driveway serving Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. When this project is complete, the road will expand from four lanes to six lanes. ©CFTOD We’ll be sure to keep you updated on the construction progress near Disney World. If you’re planning on booking a Disney cruise and want to save yourself some money, listen up! Disney Cruise Ship While there are dining packages, vacation bundles, and certain dates that may cause your cruise to be cheaper, there is ONE hack that could actually save you thousands of dollars while you’re still soaking in all of the magic and perks a Disney cruise has to offer! But will it work for you? One of the biggest money-saving tips when it comes to booking a Disney cruise is booking GTY, also known as a Guaranteed Stateroom. This allows guests to secure a room without knowing the specific location in advance. So, while other passengers are selecting room numbers and know where they are staying, you will not find out until closer to departure. You’ll still be able to choose the category of your room (Inside, Oceanview, or Verandah), but not your deck or room number. Ocean View Room on the Disney Treasure We were browsing the Disney Cruise Line website (like any sane person does every day) and found a deal that could save you just over $1,500! And the best part — it’s a Christmastime cruise! A 7-Night Eastern Caribbean Cruise from Port Canaveral is available from December 5th through the 12th on the Disney Treasure for $4,787 plus tax. This is down from $6,299, which is where the GTY price comes in. This Topiary Is So On Theme! This cruise is priced for two adults and sails to St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, Tortola, British Virgin Islands, and Disney Castaway Cay. On your cruise, you’ll find entertainment and activities, several dining options, kids’ clubs, adult-only clubs and lounges, and more! Gratuities are not included in the price of your cruise, so be sure to keep that in mind. There are also signature dining options at an additional cost, which we definitely recommend because we DREAM about going back to Palo every night! Palo Trattoria So, is it the right fit for you? GTY is a great fit if: You’re a flexible traveler who doesn’t mind where your room is on the ship You don’t mind the surprise when it comes to where you’re staying, since you’re saving money You don’t have anyone in your party who gets seasick, because there are some locations on the ship that ease seasickness better than others GTY may not be for you if: You need to know where you’re staying beforehand Choosing the exact location of your cabin matters to you You prefer one location over others (i.e. closer to the elevators, away from the noise, etc.) Disney Adventure Garden View Stateroom with Verandah So, if you want to save money and the surprise of where you’ll be staying for a week sounds good to you, a GTY room is a great option, especially when it comes to expensive Disney cruises, and can save you thousands of dollars! We’re always looking for the best money-saving tips for your next vacation, so be sure to stay tuned to DFB for more!
