  2. Every so often, I see another social media post explaining one of Walt Disney World’s great “secrets”: the underground system beneath the Magic Kingdom. And almost invariably, we’re told that these tunnels are really called the Utilidors. Sometimes the post even includes a copy of Disney’s own Cast Member map—the one with MAGIC KINGDOM TUNNEL […] The post The Magic Kingdom “Utilidors”? Not Quite the Insider Term You Think It Is appeared first on Military Disney Tips. View the full article

  4. From Main Street to Magic Kingdom’s farthest corners, the parks are overflowing with seasonal snacks, sips, and sweets, and we made it our mission to taste as many as humanly possible (all in the name of research, of course). Some of these treats left us dreaming about our next visit. Others? Well, let’s just say not every pumpkin is destined to become a carriage. New treats! We’ve sorted through the spiced, the sugary, and the downright strange so you don’t have to waste a single snack credit on something that isn’t worth it. There are still plenty of fall treats to be had at Disney World, and we’re bringing you our honest review of some right now! Plaza Restaurant — Steamboat Willie Milkshake This milkshake is $13 and is all about cookies and cream. The rim is coated in buttercream and crumbled Oreo pieces, and we loved picking them off and dragging them through the frosting. It was a little too sweet for our palate, but we can see kids going absolutely nuts over it. Steamboat Willie Milkshake The shake itself is thinner than a classic milkshake, closer to thick chocolate milk, but it still delivers plenty of cookies-and-cream flavor. That makes it lighter and easier to drink than a really thick shake, and it’s still more than enough to share with a buddy. Be warned: there’s a ton of whipped cream on top. The cookie was a standard sugar cookie with thick fondant icing. It was tasty, but nothing beyond a typical grocery store cookie. The cookie was cute! Overall, this treat is a stunner to look at and very tasty. It would pair well with the club sandwich or anything else on the menu. One more heads-up: it’s considered a dessert, so unlike other milkshakes, it can’t be substituted for a drink on the Disney Dining Plan. Astrofizz — Orange Slushy Float We grabbed this for $7.49. Separately, the orange slush and the rainbow ice pearls are both good. Together, not so much. The slush is the same Fanta orange slush you can get anywhere: sweet, citrusy, and acidic. Orange Slushy Float The pearls were mushy and chewy rather than the melt-on-your-tongue texture we expected. They dissolved into the slush extremely fast (we swear these ice desserts know when we’re getting content) and quickly tainted the flavor of both. The result tasted like sugar-free orange Jell-O mixed with every other Jell-O flavor. Maybe that’s your thing! At least it was pretty The dye also melted off the pearls and turned the slush into a brown sludge that stopped appealing to us almost immediately. We can’t recommend it, but if it sounds good to you, enjoy it quickly. Sunshine Tree Terrace — Orange Bird Sunshine Twist This $8.49 treat swirls orange DOLE Whip and vanilla ice cream together for a creamsicle flavor. It’s citrusy and a little acidic, similar to Fanta orange, but the vanilla ice cream balances it well, especially once everything starts melting together. Orange Bird Sunshine Twist The crunchy pearls are like tiny cereal puffs, adding crunch to the creamy bites, and there are quite a few on top. They have a slight orange flavor, but the strongest orange comes from the DOLE Whip. The pearls were a fun touch The cookie on top is nothing special if you’ve had the Disney sugar cookies that come with certain items, but this one was fresher and softer than most we’ve had. If you like orange desserts, creamsicle flavors, or Orange Bird, this is a must-get. It’s also a large portion, similar in size to the Lava Float. Sunset Boulevard Snack Cart — Golden Frozen Flame We picked this up for $6.59. Have you ever dreamed your POG juice could make you sneeze? That the sweet blend of passion fruit, orange, and guava could suddenly burn the roof of your mouth and sinuses enough to cause a sneezing fit after two sips? We have the drink for you. The Golden Frozen Flame is frozen POG lemonade with honey and chili, and it’s almost our favorite drink they’ve ever released. Who wouldn’t love a frozen POG beverage? Golden Frozen Flame Right up until the last moment, it’s a dream. Then comes the chile powder, which tastes like something from your grandma’s old spice rack, saved from a box-top giveaway in the mid-1970s. We love anything that evokes time in Grandma’s kitchen, but this one brings back only sad memories. Connections Eatery — S’mores Gelato Milkshake This s’mores milkshake is made with Belgian chocolate and French vanilla gelato, topped with toasted marshmallow, chocolate shavings, and a graham cracker. It’s available for $8.49. It took three cast members to handle this glob of freshly toasted marshmallow straight out of the oven. The hot marshmallow turned the shake into a puddle and dripped everywhere before we had taken 10 steps. S’mores Gelato Milkshake Messy as it was, the marshmallow was absolutely worth it. It tasted like a homemade s’more fresh off the fire, with a smoky, gooey interior and a dark, crunchy exterior. The portion was generous enough that marshmallow came through in quite a few bites. The shake itself has a lighter, airier chocolate flavor with a subtle hint of vanilla. Once melted, it reminded us of chocolate milk, with the s’mores flavor coming more from the toppings than the shake. The chocolate shavings added a little crunch and minor sweetness, but most sank to the bottom. The graham cracker got soggy quickly and lost its crunch, but it still added a warm, slightly spiced flavor. S’mores on top The star here is the roasted marshmallow, and it’s worth getting for that alone. Everything else is a bonus. Mess aside, we know families will love this as long as it’s enjoyed quickly and indoors! Snack Cart Near Connections — Peaches and Cream This is a peach purée blended with lemon, vanilla, and oat milk, topped with sweet cream cold foam. You can get it for $6.99. The presentation is gorgeous. Three different people stopped us to ask where we got it. The cold foam starts out sitting on top, creating an eye-catching layered look, then gradually blends into the drink over about five minutes. The foam is canned and optional, as the cast member asked if we wanted it. Peaches and Cream The drink has a frozen, slushy consistency that holds its structure for a while. The strongest flavor is sweet and tart peach, followed by a subtle lemon. The vanilla, oat milk, and cold foam mix into a smooth, creamy sweetness that balances the tartness, and the overall effect is almost like a peach creamsicle. Peaches and Cream Over time, the cold foam can curdle and get chunky, though it didn’t affect the flavor. Ours had mostly melted by the time we drank it from sitting out, but if enjoyed right away, we’re sure the slush would be icier, with the foam adding a thick, creamy contrast. If you want a gorgeous, sweet, and fruity slush for a warm day, this one is perfect. It’s not very messy and makes for a refreshing treat. This was tasty! 5. Okay, we need to know which side of this debate you’re on… The holidaiys have invaded Halloween in Disneyland Halloween Time is in full effect in Disneyland Resort, and Disneyland, Disney California Adventure, and Downtown Disney have all received spooky makeovers; Oogie Boogie Bash is going strong; and there are a lot of Halloween-themed food and drinks. But there’s a tradition that happens EVERY year in Disneyland that turns spooky season into the holiday season, as well. Well, that tradition continues in 2026 because it’s happened…the holiday snow has officially been added to Sleeping Beauty Castle, although we still have several weeks left of Halloween. Yes, this controversial change continues. Every year, about this time in October, Sleeping Beauty Castle looks a little less spookier than the rest of the park, and a lot more festive. We recently visited the park, and lo and behold, the snow had finally arrived on the castle. Yes, some people absolutely hate it being so early and before Halloween is over, but for others, it means that the magical holiday season in the park is coming soon. Love it or hate it, it’s here. The snow has started to appear! Granted, it’s just a little bit of snow, but soon, those towers will be covered with snowcaps to make way for Sleeping Beauty’s holiday decorations. Now, we get why Disney gets started on this early because the castle gets a MASSIVE makeover to transform it for the holiday season. So eventually, it will look like this: Sleeping Beauty Castle during the Holiday Season See? So there’s a lot more to be done, so Disney always gets started on the decorations early. So if you see it, just say “Happy Hallowmas” and be done with it. You’re probably going to be seeing holiday merchandise in stores soon, too, and that’s just how it is. In the meantime, you can ride Haunted Mansion Holiday, which celebrates both holidays, so it works out. Haunted Mansion Holiday We’ll keep an eye out for more holiday decor in Disneyland, so stay tuned to DFB for more. 9. We know we can’t be the only ones who are craving our favorite Disney World foods when we’re nowhere near the parks. Right? RIGHT??? DoorDash at Disney World Well, as it turns out, if you’re a Disney World local, you might be able to order from a couple of restaurants at Disney World and actually have it delivered to your house via DoorDash. We knew that this was theoretically possible, based on two Disney Springs restaurants being listed as options on DoorDash, but in the past when we had tried it, our order was ultimately canceled. So, we decided to give it another go — and here’s how it went. There are only two restaurants at Disney World currently available on DoorDash for delivery. The first restaurant at Disney World you can get food delivered from is Earl of Sandwich at Disney Springs. It makes sense that you wouldn’t be able to DoorDash from any of the four parks or the Disney World Resort hotels, but we were surprised that there weren’t many restaurants at Disney Springs that offer delivery service. Earl of Sandwich The second restaurant you can DoorDash from is eet by Maneet Chauhan. Theoretically, you should be able to order Earl of Sandwich and eet by Maneet Chauhan to be delivered to your home if you’re a local, but when we’ve tried this in the past — things didn’t go so well. Our order got reassigned a few times, and ultimately, after a few hours of waiting, the order was canceled. We can imagine why — a delivery driver would have to park in the Disney Springs garage, walk to the restaurant, and then make their way back to the car and then deliver the food. Not as easy as driving through a restaurant, you know? eet by Maneet Chauhan So, we decided to put this to the test again on a recent Disney World stay, and ordered Earl of Sandwich for DoorDash delivery. ©DoorDash We placed our order around 6 PM, and the app quickly updated to say the order had been confirmed and that a Dasher was picking it up — with an ETA of within a half hour. ©DoorDash Our Dasher made it to Earl of Sandwich in a pretty reasonable amount of time, but the restaurant was having issues, so it was delayed a bit. Our Dasher was super communicative throughout the whole process, though, and she ended up having to wait around 20 minutes at the store for our order to be ready. Soon enough, though, she had our order, and at 7:50 PM, our order finally arrived! It came much later than originally expected, but the issue was clearly on Earl of Sandwich’s end. Earl of Sandwich from DoorDash We will say that by the time our order got to us, it was pretty darn cold. Our tater tots were soggy, and though the Holiday Turkey Sandwich was still as delicious as ever, it was cold, too. We didn’t mind this as much, though, because the bread got nice and soft and soaked up some of the mayonnaise and cranberry sauce. Holiday Turkey Sandwich If you want a hot meal, we don’t necessarily suggest going this route. There are a lot of steps and hoops to jump through to get something delivered from a restaurant at Disney World, and while it’s technically possible, we don’t think it’s really worth it — but your mileage may vary! Soggy tots We’ll be on the lookout for even more updates you need to know about from Disney World and beyond. 10. Disney Springs has a LOT of restaurants, and it can be hard to choose where to eat. Do you want fast-casual poutine or an expensive five-course dinner? The possibilities are endless if you don’t know where to start. Enzo’s Hideaway That’s why we’re here! We’ve eaten at every single Disney World restaurant (yep, every single one), and we have some pretty strong opinions. Some restaurants and meals you can get anytime, but some special limited-time meals are perfect for Disney World veterans. Get ready for this special dinner you don’t want to miss! Check out our Bootlegger’s Dinner at Enzo’s Hideaway in Disney Springs. It’s November 12th, 5:30 PM to 8 PM, and costs $108 per person. It even features Flor de Caña rums! It’s an immersive evening that will bring tropical, smoky, and sweet flavors through handcrafted rum cocktails paired with a multi-course menu. Sign us up! We love the design! Check out the menu: A mix of Flor de Caña Blanco, pineapple, lime, coconut water, and vanilla, alongside a spread of salumi e formaggi Flor de Caña 12-year blended with crème de cacao, pecan liqueur and orange clove syrup, paired with a CAB strip loin Flor de Caña 7-year and Flor de Caña Spresso with chai, brown butter demerara syrup and oat milk to complement our delicious brown butter cake Space for this event is very limited, so if you’re interested in tickets, we recommend grabbing them sooner rather than later. For the event, you must be over the age of 21. Munyon’s Paw-Paw Florida Liqueur The restaurant’s theme is a speakeasy with plenty of nods to the Prohibition Era. The tunnel bar is inspired by Rome’s aperitivo bars, so it is perfect for a Bootlegger’s dinner. Enzo’s Hideaway We love to grab some good drinks here when we need to… hide! Disney Springs can be very overwhelming with all the people and options, so it’s nice to sit inside for a bit and enjoy the vibes. 12. Can I find the BEST Disney World coffee?! And is the spot with the best coffee also the best place to work from home? We’re about to find out! Welcome to episode THREE of trying to find out which Disney World hotel is the best for people who want to add a little Disney magic to their workday! Let’s go to the BoardWalk! As a writer for DFB, I have the privilege of working from home. And living close to Disney World gives me another privilege on top of that — working from the resorts! I’m basing this rating on the coffee I get, the space available (i.e., the tables, chairs, and outlets), and the atmosphere, and today, we’re at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn! One of Disney World’s Deluxe resorts, Disney’s BoardWalk Inn includes a nostalgic seaside atmosphere mixed with classic Atlantic City and Coney Island vacation culture through artwork, dining, activities, and entertainment. Guests staying here will also have easy access to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios as they’re both just a short boat ride or walk away. The dining locations here include The Cake Bake Shop Restaurant by Gwendolyn Rogers, The Cake Bake Bakery, Flying Fish, AbracadaBar, the BoardWalk Deli, Hurly-Burly, Trattoria al Forno, Belle Vue Lounge, Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs, BoardWalk Ice Cream, Carousel Coffee, the BoardWalk Snack Stand, Joe’s Marvelous Margaritas, and the BoardWalk Pizza Window. YES – there are really that many options, and even more are on their way! Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs Coffee – 7/10 You probably thought I was headed to Carousel Coffee, didn’t you? Well, there’s another place that serves coffee on the BoardWalk, and that’s the Cake Bake Shop Bakery! Since it’s pumpkin season, obviously I had to grab their specialty coffee, which is a White Chocolate Pumpkin Spice Latte. This is made with three shots of espresso, your choice of milk (there is an upcharge if it’s a milk substitute), pumpkin syrup, cinnamon, white chocolate syrup, and topped with whipped cream, sprinkles, and glitter (of course!). White Chocolate Pumpkin Spice Latte I LOVED this coffee! Not only was it filling, but the pumpkin flavor was also really strong, which I appreciated — not a lot of pumpkin coffees have a strong flavor. It was so filling that I didn’t even finish it (but that’s on me because I did get a large). And, of course, the Cake Bake Shop is going to be one of the most expensive coffees you can find on property, and it definitely hurt my wallet a bit. After tax, my total came out to $12.78. OUCH! I could have gotten TWO of the coffees I got at the Polynesian Resort, and it STILL wouldn’t have been as expensive as the Cake Bake Shop’s! Worth it, though? Definitely. This coffee was filling! Atmosphere – 10/10 Am I biased here because this is the resort I grew up at coming with my family? Probably, but that doesn’t change the fact that the atmosphere is one of the best on Disney World property! The music is TOP NOTCH, and the artwork and decor, both inside and out, are just amazing. I started my day outside along the water, and the music combined with the sounds of the FriendShip Boats and the views were just unmatched. Look at my view! Although I didn’t want to move the party inside, I had to because my laptop was about to die (and ya girl’s gotta work!), so I spent the rest of my day in Belle Vue Lounge. These seats weren’t like your typical wooden chairs — it’s a Deluxe resort, after all! — they were SO comfortable! The lounge doesn’t open until 4 PM, so it was pretty quiet over there until then. Other guests had the same idea as me and worked from that space until the lounge opened! You can still hear the BoardWalk music while sitting in these comfortable chairs in the air conditioning — what’s better than that?! Belle Vue Lounge Space – 7/10 Now, when it comes to tables, chairs, and outlet availability, the BoardWalk isn’t the best resort for this, but it also isn’t the worst. Outside, there is PLENTY of seating, but the only problem is the outlets. And inside, there are a few tables and chairs — mostly inside Belle Vue Lounge — but few outlets. Luckily, one of the tables that had an outlet beside it was available, so that’s where I stayed for most of my day, but I really only counted three outlets next to tables (two in Belle Vue Lounge and one right outside the lounge). Belle Vue Lounge Overall – 8/10 Based on the coffee I had, the atmosphere, and the space, the BoardWalk Inn gets an 8/10 when it comes to working from home at the Disney resorts. The coffee was one of the best I’ve had so far in this series, and the atmosphere and space availability were very good — the only downside was the number of accessible outlets. This means we have a NEW leader… Here are my current rankings: BoardWalk Inn — 8/10 Coronado Springs Resort – 7/10 Polynesian Village Resort – 5/10 Let’s go to the BoardWalk! We are headed to ALL of the Disney World resorts for this series, so stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for more because they’re coming real soon! 13. We LOVE celebrating the holidays at Disney World, but sometimes it’s hard to get in the spirit when you’re away from home, especially for Thanksgiving. 14. Oopsies! Getting from your Disney World hotel to Disney Springs might be a bit harder now. Old Key West We’re always bragging about Disney World transportation because it really is that good (okay, and fun. We may turn into little kids when we ride the monorail). It helps us get from point A to point B for free and keeps our Disney days running smoothly. A new closure just hit this resort, and boat transportation will look a little different. The Sassagoula River Cruise at Disney’s Old Key West, which takes guests to Disney Springs, is temporarily closed. It will be unavailable until November 1st, and bus transportation to Disney Springs will be available during this time. Boo! We hate a transportation closure. Old Key West Dock This isn’t the first time we’ve seen the boat closed for maintenance. Actually, it happened just a few months ago! It was closed from late July to early August, but I guess there’s more work to do and refurbishments to do. Closed! If you’re heading to Disney Springs, the buses are probably your easiest bet on getting there quickly and efficiently, but if the weather is gorgeous and you have some time to kill before a dinner reservation, you can walk. It takes about 45 minutes, and if you see rain clouds in the distance, we recommend bringing your rain gear. You can always walk one way and take the bus back the other. Disney Springs Bus Station Should you skip Disney Springs entirely if there’s no boat? Well, we don’t think so! If you’re on a shorter trip, you might not have time to check it out, but we usually go on our arrival days after we drop off our bags and look for something to do. We love to grab dinner and catch some of the music and entertainment. We also tend to do quite a bit of shopping so we can get our Disney souvenirs at the beginning of our trip. 15. We tested three portable cooling gadgets at very different price points because Florida heat has no respect for your budget, your outfit, or the fact that you JUST fixed your hair. One is cheap and tiny. One multitasks like it has something to prove. One comes armed with enough features to sound like it was invented by NASA. We love our essentials And after actually using them, the expensive option did not automatically run away with this competition. In fact, one of the cheapest products here may be almost all most Disney World visitors actually need. Let’s get into it. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. LACOVIA Cute Mouse Misting Personal Fan First of all, it has Mickey ears. We could probably stop there, but fortunately this little fan is also surprisingly useful. It has three speeds and is small enough to fit in your palm, pocket, or even a belt bag. The handle folds and rotates, and little “feet” allow you to stand it upright on a table while you eat, take a break, or stare blankly into the middle distance after walking across EPCOT in 94-degree weather. Hard to see the mist A protective plastic cage around the fan blades also helps if you’re traveling with kids. It recharges with the included USB-C cord, and an indicator light lets you know when it’s actively charging. Our reviewer was a BIG fan of the fan itself. The misting feature? Less so. LACOVIA Mini Fan Rather than spraying water into the blades like Disney’s classic misting fans, this one produces a fine stream of mist from underneath the fan. It sounds great, but in practice, you need to hold it fairly close to your face to notice much of an effect. Add a little breeze and your refreshing mist may be headed toward somebody standing three feet to your left. Mickey fan The good news is that the water reservoir is small but surprisingly sufficient, and the package includes a dropper to make filling it easier. Would we bring it to Disney World? Absolutely. Even if you never use the mister, you’re getting a compact, rechargeable three-speed fan that takes up very little valuable park-bag real estate. For around the $10 mark, that’s a pretty easy sell. view ON AMAZON JISULIFE 3-in-1 Portable Fan with Power Bank & Flashlight This little gadget is a Disney World essential that is sort of Florida’s version of a Swiss Army knife. It’s a rechargeable handheld fan, flashlight, AND backup power bank. The biggest advantage here is the size. It folds down into a compact little package rather than occupying half your park bag like some handheld fans, because your park bag is premium real estate when you’re already hauling sunscreen, sunglasses, a portable charger, emergency snacks, and whatever other tiny civilization you’ve decided to bring into Magic Kingdom. JISULIFE 3 IN 1 Handheld Mini Fan Except, wait. You may not need that separate portable charger. The JISULIFE can charge your phone in a pinch, which gives it an immediate edge for Disney World. Between checking wait times, booking Lightning Lanes, mobile ordering lunch, taking approximately 900 photos of Cinderella Castle, and refreshing the My Disney Experience app because you KNOW that reservation is going to appear eventually, Disney trips are brutal on phone batteries. The secret charger! Our reviewer found this one absolutely worth the money and couldn’t come up with anything they’d change about it. That is rare around here. If you’re not accustomed to Florida humidity or just want to reduce the number of individual gadgets rattling around your bag, this is probably the best all-around value of the bunch. view ON AMAZON Shark ChillPill 3-in-1 Fan, Mist and Cooling Plate And now we have reached the other end of the spectrum. It combines a high-speed fan, Dry Touch Mist, and an InstaChill cooling plate. It has multiple controls, adjustable airflow levels up to 10, replaceable misting wicks, and enough features that opening the box feels a little like getting a new toy. We were VERY excited about this one. And then we tested the fan. Despite all those settings, we found the actual airflow weaker than some of the less expensive fans we’ve tried. We kept turning it up and waiting for the magic to happen. It never quite got there. Shark Fan Then there’s the Dry Touch Mist. This system uses a wick that needs replacing every 30 days. One comes preloaded, and three replacements are included, so you’ll eventually need to buy more. That would be easier to swallow if the mist blew us away, but it didn’t. There’s a fair amount of setup involved for a feature that, during our testing, provided very little noticeable relief. If your primary goal is simply to have cool air blowing on your face while you wait for the Festival of Fantasy parade, there are much cheaper ways to do that. Chill pill But THEN we tried the cooling plate. And friends, this is where the ChillPill earned its name. The InstaChill plate is designed to cool on contact, and it gets shockingly cold within seconds. Pressing it against your forehead or the back of your neck on a hot day feels incredible. During our outdoor testing in the heat, even the lower setting delivered a dramatic cooling sensation, and the battery held up remarkably well. There is one downside worth mentioning. When we held the device close to our face, we noticed an electronics/plastic smell, so this probably isn’t something we’d want hovering beneath our nose all afternoon. But as a portable way to get that sudden blast of cold against your skin? THAT impressed us. Chill Pill The ChillPill tried to do three things, and in our experience, two were underwhelming while one was genuinely fantastic. So is that one fantastic feature worth the much higher price? That depends on what you need. view ON AMAZON So, Does Spending More Actually Get You More? Here’s the surprise: If you just need a Disney World fan, we don’t think you need to spend anywhere CLOSE to $100. The inexpensive LACOVIA fan does the basic job well, fits into tiny bags, and comes with Mickey ears for a little Disney bonus. The JISULIFE may be our favorite value proposition because its fan, flashlight, and power-bank functions can replace several things in your park bag. JISULIFE Handheld Mini Fan The Shark ChillPill is different. We wouldn’t spend the extra money because we thought its fan was dramatically better. It wasn’t. And we certainly wouldn’t do it for the misting system. You’re paying for that cooling plate. If you know you struggle with Florida heat and the idea of having an instantly cold surface available for your forehead or neck sounds heavenly, that feature could make the ChillPill worth its premium price. It’s the part that took us from “What did we just buy?” to “OKAY, SHARK. WE GET IT.” Chill Pill But if your Disney World heat strategy begins and ends with “please blow air directly at my face,” save your money. The $10-ish fan can hang with the expensive gadgets just fine. And THAT is exactly why we test this stuff before you start throwing things into your Amazon cart. We’re always on the hunt for the latest and greatest Disney souvenirs and essentials, so don’t forget to stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for more! View the full article

  17. You know, we are simple people at the end of the day. We love “plastic cheese,” riding our favorite ride for the thousandth time, and waving to our favorite characters. When Universal made a simple app change, we couldn’t help but be a little too excited. ©Universal Disney and Universal apps are always updating, sometimes with major changes and sometimes with tiny things that just put a smile on our face. Check out Universal’s newest update! You can now pick a character icon for your Universal profile! You can choose characters from Nintendo, Harry Potter, and How to Train Your Dragon. ©Universal You KNOW I’m going to be picking Po! Shrek and Universal Monsters also made an appearance. ©Universal Don’t forget about the kiddos! You’ll also get to enjoy characters from Trolls and Transformers. They really thought about the whole family with these icons. ©Universal If this sounds a little bit familiar, it’s because Disney World recently added more characters. While this is the first time we’ve been able to pick characters for Universal, we’ve been doing it for a long time at Disney World, and we still get excited when there are new characters to check out. ©Disney Disney World’s biggest app change lately has been adding artificial intelligence. Disney’s AI planning system is starting to roll out to users, and it’s drawn negative reviews from guests. Many feel AI isn’t needed in the app, and they prefer booking with their favorite travel agents. ©Disney The system can give you helpful tips and recommendations based on your preferences. For example, if you had a kiddo who loves The Lion King and is celebrating their birthday, the program might suggest staying in the Lion King rooms at the Art of Animation. ©Disney Universal hasn’t announced any AI changes to its app, but we’re always keeping an eye out to see if it follows the same idea. Keep following the Disney Food Blog for more Universal and Disney changes you need to know before your family vacation. “LITERALLY NO ONE WANTS THIS!!” FANS SPEAK OUT ABOUT NEW AI CHANGE TO DISNEY WORLD APP What character are you choosing? 19. A Disney World day means miles and miles of walking, so what you put on your feet matters almost as much as which snacks you grab. Hoka Clifton 10 We asked our readers to settle one of the great Disney Parks debates once and for all, and they did NOT hold back. We set out to end the great question “Crocs or sneakers?” The comments rolled in fast. Some of you are loyal to a single pair, some of you pack a whole shoe wardrobe, and a few of you have learned your lesson the hard way. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. The Results Are In! Drumroll, please: 70% of readers said sneakers are the way to go for a full day at Disney World. Here’s the full breakdown: Team Sneakers: 70% Team Crocs: 18% Team “Why Not Both?”: 9% Team “Whatever’s Comfy”: 3% But the numbers only tell part of the story. The real fun is in WHY you picked your side, so let’s get into it. We love HOKA! Team Sneakers: Support Wins Every Time For the sneaker crowd, it all comes down to one thing: making it from rope drop to fireworks without wanting to sit down on the nearest curb. Gillian McCreesh tried just about everything before landing on her answer, “I had Crocs, flip-flops, Skechers sandals, but trainers, specifically on clouds, were the only ones I could wear all day. Super comfy, lightweight, and breathable, they tick all the boxes”. Staci Richardson Barnett has her system down to the exact model, saying, “Broken In Sneakers for whole trip. My Hoka Clifton 10s and an alternate Hoka Bondi for the whole trip for me.” ©Amazon If you want to copy Staci’s setup, the Hoka Men’s Clifton 10 is the pair she named. The Clifton line is known for a thick, cushioned sole in a lightweight shoe, which is exactly what you want when you’re on your feet from morning until the park closes. Just follow her lead and get them broken in before you leave home! view ON AMAZON And Kristen Cladek reminded us that the shoe is only half the equation: “Sneakers! Well broken in! And most importantly GOOD socks!!” ©Amazon Still looking for a pair to start breaking in? The Brooks Women’s Glycerin GTS 21 Supportive Running Shoe is worth a look if you want cushion AND stability. It pairs a soft, plush sole with built-in support that helps keep your stride steady, which can make a difference when your legs get tired late in a long park day. view ON AMAZON Team Crocs: Cool, Quick-Drying, and Proud Crocs fans made their case just as loudly, and their argument is tough to beat on a hot, rainy Florida afternoon: your feet stay cool, and a surprise downpour is no big deal. Ellie Miles put hers through a serious test, writing, “I wore Minnie Mouse Crocs for two full weeks. I think they are the perfect park shoe as they aren’t hot on your feet and it doesn’t matter at all if they get wet!” ©Amazon Want to match Ellie’s park-day look? The Crocs Women’s Disney Mickey & Minnie Mouse Clogs put everyone’s favorite mice right on your feet. They’re lightweight, easy to slip on and off, and they rinse clean and dry fast after a rainstorm or a water ride. They also have a heel strap you can flip back for a more secure fit when you’re covering serious ground. view ON AMAZON Krystle Barstow says sneakers just can’t compete, writing, “Crocs! My feet never hurt when I wear them! Any type of sneaker always ends up hurting. Crocs always dry quicker as well!” Not every Crocs story has a happy ending, though. Maninder Glenn shared a cautionary tale: “I wore my favorite Crocs to the parks the first time and wore a hole through them.” That’s a LOT of walking. Consider this your sign to check the soles before you pack them. Crocs in Disney World Team “Why Not Both?”: The Shoe Swappers Here’s the plot twist. A whole group of you refused to pick a side at all, and your strategy might be the smartest one in the bunch. Bill Chasing Disney rotates pairs from day to day: “Honestly, I’ve found bringing a few options and switching each day keeps the pressure points variable and helps prevent blisters.” Another reader wrote: “I actually tend to change partway through the day. I’ll do Skechers all day and invariably swap to my Crocs for the evening.” Lindsay Fairbairn does the same, writing, “I usually bring a 2nd pair of something and switch mid-day…I usually start in gym shoes and end up in Crocs or sandals.” Sneakers for the heavy walking, Crocs for the evening wind-down. It’s hard to argue with that! Mickey Crocs So, Who’s Right? Maybe everybody. Charity Sturdevant summed it up best: “I think whatever is the most comfortable for someone is the winner. I couldn’t imagine walking around in Crocs, but I know many love them.” Whichever team you’re on, our readers agreed on a few things: Break your shoes in before the trip. New shoes and long park days don’t mix. Don’t skimp on socks. A good pair that stays put can save you from blisters. Pack a backup pair. Swapping shoes changes up the pressure points and gives your feet a break. Plan for wet feet. Crocs dry fast, which is a big deal when the rain rolls in. 21. You might want to sit down, because we’ve got some disappointing (though not entirely unexpected) news: Lightning Lane prices are increasing at Disney World. If you’ve been paying attention, you know this isn’t our first rodeo. (Or our first Rise of the Resistance, for that matter.) TRON Lightcycle / Run Lightning Lane Single Pass is the à la carte option for the headliner rides that aren’t included in Lightning Lane Multi Pass, so it’s what you buy when you absolutely, positively cannot stand in a 90-minute standby line for TRON, Guardians, or Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, for example. Prices for these passes have been climbing for a while now, and this latest bump sets new all-time highs at several rides. Disney World has raised prices of Lightning Lane Single Pass to new record highs, with multiple rides reaching their record-high per-person costs on Sunday, November 1st, 2026. Lightning Lane The Lightning Lane prices for TRON Lightcycle / Run, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, and Avatar: Flight of Passage have all increased to the highest they’ve ever been. Here’s a look at the record prices for these rides on November 1st, 2026: TRON Lightcycle / Run — $25 Seven Dwarfs Mine Train — $18 Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind — $25 Avatar: Flight of Passage — $20 Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Lightning Lane The previous high prices for these rides were: TRON Lightcycle / Run — $23 Seven Dwarfs Mine Train — $15 Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind — $22 Avatar: Flight of Passage — $19 That’s a $1 to $3 price increase, depending on the ride, with Seven Dwarfs Mine Train seeing the sharpest increase of $3. The only Lightning Lane Single Pass ride that did not increase in price is Rise of the Resistance, which has consistently been the highest-priced Single Pass at Disney World. TRON Lightning Lane As of now, the Disney World Lightning Lane calendar only goes out to November 1st, so we can’t see if these prices will stick around for the rest of the month, though we can expect them to hit these prices again during the upcoming holidays, including Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s, which is typically when we see the highest Lightning Lane prices. Cosmic Rewind Lightning Lane While Lightning Lane is optional, it can save you a ton of time in the long run — but it’ll cost you a pretty penny. If you don’t want to dish out any extra money for Lightning Lanes, you can consider rope dropping the parks (getting there right before they open), or trying to get in line at off-peak times like during lunch, parades, or fireworks. Racing through We’ll be on the lookout for additional updates from Disney World and beyond. In the meantime, make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more. 22. Disney World has a BRAND-NEW Hotel opening on July 1st, 2027: The Lakeshore Lodge… And I am STOKED! Look, I know that a lot of people are hating on Disney World hotels right now, but me? I’m excited for Lakeshore Lodge (yes, despite people calling the rooms here a “glorified Marriott”) based on some of the fantastic concept art and aerial construction photos we’ve seen. ©bioreconstruct Built on the site of the former River Country water park, the hotel has a design “inspired by the majesty of nature and its enduring influence on Disney artists,” with elements of numerous films, including Pocohontus, Brother Bear, Encanto, Fantasia, and Bambi. It’s going to be home to 967 guest rooms, a massive waterplay/pool complex known as the Wetlands (which frankly looks like it could be my new favorite pool at Disney World), and — OF COURSE — a cadre of new dining options! Moonglade Moonglade will be Lakeshore Lodge’s primary table-service restaurant and will offer a selection of “thoughtfully prepared dishes featuring seasonal and locally sourced ingredients.” We’re already thinking about some of the Florida-tinged dishes that could potentially make their way onto the restaurant’s seasonal menus. ©Disney Beyond the food — and maybe, to some people, even more important than the food — a major draw of the restaurant will likely be the massive floor-to-ceiling windows. According to Disney, these windows will “frame the gracefully arching cypress trees along Bay Lake where artful lighting and nuanced design reflect the interplay of light and shadow.” Moonglade ©Disney Bay Lake Provisions The hotel’s primary quick-service restaurant, Bay Lake Provisions, will offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner — including a selection of specialty coffees — in a marketplace-style atmosphere. Also, in keeping with the hotel’s overall theme, Disney says guests should “keep an eye out for woodland critters inspired by beloved Disney classics.” Bay Lake Provisions ©Disney Paint Out Point Bar & Grill Moving out to the Wetlands area, the hotel’s pool bar — the Paint Out Point Bar & Grill — will sit near the entrance to the Lakeshore Lagoon, the zero-entry pool that will serve as the heart of the area. The menu will be made up of shareable bites and specialty beverages, while the decor will feature a collection of original works by Imagineers inspired by plein-air painting. The art will draw inspiration from the Bay Lake landscapes. Paint Out Point Bar & Grill ©Disney Branch & Brush Lounge Finally, there’s the most recently announced spot coming to Lakeshore Lodge: The Branch & Brush Lounge! The lounge, located just beyond the hotel’s lobby, will offer a selection of handcrafted cocktails for guests to sip as they take in expansive views of Bay Lake. The lounge’s decor will be “inspired by the beauty” of the changing seasons, thanks to rich colors, natural textures, and a matching collection of artwork. All of these elements will play off a “captivating color-changing chandelier that will bring the beauty of all four seasons to life.” Personally, I’m especially excited about Disney saying that guests will be able to “enjoy a nightcap” at the lounge, which gives me hope that the Branch & Brush will remain open late enough to enjoy a drink after a long day at the nearby Magic Kingdom. Branch & Brush Concept Art ©Disney You can start enjoying these new dining spaces when the hotel opens on July 1st, 2027! In the meantime, bookings for the new resort are NOW OPEN, so be sure to grab a reservation while you can! Stay tuned to DFB for more on Disney’s latest hotel. 23. Disney World resorts can feel magical and unlike any other hotel in the world. Unfortunately, some things still happen that aren’t magical! Disney’s Riviera Resort If you’re staying at Disney’s Riviera Resort, or popping over to enjoy some of the dining and experiences, you might want to stay outside from 1 PM to 3:30 PM because it might get loud. Fire alarm testing will take place at Disney’s Riviera Resort from 1 PM to 3:30 PM on Monday, October 12th. During this time, you may experience strobe lights and loud ringing tones. You can stay in the building, but if you or someone in your family is sensitive to noise, you may want to make other plans. Fire Alarm Testing One major perk of the Riviera is the Skyliner. It can easily get you to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios easy peasy. It makes Park Hopping a little bit easier, especially if you are focusing on those two parks. Buses also go to the other parks and locations around the property. Disney Skyliner The Riviera is kinda a hidden gem for food, too! While it’s a bit easier for resort guests to use the Skyliner, other guests can still easily check out the options. We love Le Petit Cafe for some small bites and coffee… Le Petit at Disney’s Riviera Resort …and find ourselves at Topolino’s Terrace more often than not. It’s on the top floor, so you get gorgeous views of the resort. For breakfast, it’s a prix fixe character meal where you can meet Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy in their art-themed costumes. Mickey at Topolino’s Terrace character breakfast Dinner is a bit more sophisticated, with fireworks views. If you’re looking for a character meal, though, they’re only available during breakfast. Tramonto Cocktail at Topolino’s Terrace Keep following Disney Food Blog for everything you need to know for your upcoming stay at Disney World. 24. If you’ve ever sailed with Disney Cruise Line, you know there are a few things you can count on: a perfectly timed towel animal waiting on your bed, Mickey-shaped everything, and your favorite cafe being exactly where you left it. Well, hold onto your mouse ears, because we’ve got to tell you about a change that could impact your next Disney cruise. Specialty coffee cards We just got off the Disney Wish, and we confirmed some pretty disappointing news about the specialty coffees on board. Whether you’re a cruise veteran who has the entire Sail Away Party memorized or you’re still daydreaming about your first sailing, this one’s worth paying attention to. (Yes, we may or may not have gasped a little when we found out!) Ahoy, Disney Cruise Line fans! We’ve got an update you probably won’t be too happy about. We hate to be the bearer of bad news, but someone has to be. You might already know that onboard Disney Cruise Line, regular drip coffee is included with the cost of your cruise — along with milk or cream and sugar. But, there are cafes and coffee shops on board the ships that feature specialty coffees — think lattes, cold brew, americanos, things like that. Those specialty drinks are not included and are a separate cost, but Disney does try to soften that blow a bit with coffee cards. Coffee cards With these coffee cards, you get stamps for each specialty coffee you buy, and when you buy five, you get your sixth for free. In the past, these cards could travel with you from cruise to cruise and ship to ship, so that if you didn’t fill up your card on one sailing, you could bring it back for your next sailing and reap the rewards. Well, friends, we’re sad to say that is no longer the case. New coffee card We just got off a sailing on the Disney Wish, and when we grabbed our newest coffee card, we noticed that it had new text at the bottom that read, “Non-transferable between Guests or cruises.” WHAT?! We asked a Cast Member about it, and they confirmed that this was a new change. Oh no! While we’re bummed that the cards are no longer transferable between cruises, at least Disney didn’t get rid of the coffee cards altogether (though we wouldn’t necessarily be surprised if they did). You can still earn that free sixth coffee; you’ll just have to do it all within the span of one cruise now. Let’s go! It’s not all bad news, though, because on this sailing we got to learn a LOT about the new Disney Believe cruise ship! The Disney Believe will be the fourth ship in the Disney Wish Class, and she sets sail on her maiden voyage on December 18th, 2027. Disney Believe This new ship will present its own unique motif: one of promise and possibilities. There will be elements from the “mystical worlds of Encanto and Frozen, to the wishing wells of Snow White, to the depths of the sea with Moana and The Little Mermaid, there are endless stories waiting to be discovered and new chapters ready to unfold onboard.” You can read everything we know about the Disney Believe right here! We’re on the Disney Wish learning all about the Disney Believe! We’ll be on the lookout for more Disney Cruise Line updates you need to know about and beyond. In the meantime, make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more! Do you use these coffee cards on your Disney Cruises? Let us know in the comments below. 25. When Disney World announced it was building a Tropical Americas-themed land that included Encanto, I may or may not have shed a tear. Was that tear for the idea of stepping into Casita and meeting the Madrigal family, or for knowing I had to say goodbye to DinoLand U.S.A.? We’ll never know, but Pueblo Esperanza is coming to Animal Kingdom, and we’ll share every update. The Casita ©Disney The new land is planning to open in 2027, and behind the construction walls, Disney has been hard at work making sure everything gets done. Thanks to our friend Bioreconstruct on X, we get a sense of what’s happening behind those walls, and Disneyis progress is fantastical and magical. See that big structure? That’s going to be Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto, aka the Encanto ride. Bioreconstruct said they’re adding a waterproof barrier to the concrete walls at the base of the frame. This helps determine where the dirt is being placed and puts the house on a hill, similar to the Haunted Mansion. ©Bioreconstruct I don’t know if it looks like Casita yet, and it’s making me wonder how the ride will fit in there! A lot of Disney rides look like they’re in the actual building but lead you to another space that you can’t see from the outside. The Haunted Mansion is another great example. You don’t really go inside the mansion; you go to a warehouse in the back. ©Bioreconstruct Either way, I am so excited to climb in and listen to the incredible music. The cast came back to re-record the ride’s original audio, so it’s going to sound exactly like the movie. ©Bioreconstruct Encanto isn’t the only movie coming to the land. Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent has taken over DINOSAUR, and the outside is coming together very well. Doesn’t it look just like a Mayan temple? ©Bioreconstruct A carousel is coming, too! Check out the structure for El Carrusel de los Animalitos. We can’t wait to pick our favorite Disney animal to ride. ©Bioreconstruct Of course, there’ll be some food, too. All our favorite DinoLand spots are becoming new restaurants, and we’re already dreaming about what food is coming (and why it better be arepas). ©Bioreconstruct Here’s a look at more of the theming pieces that will bring the whole land together. Disney often works on pieces in a warehouse before bringing the almost finished pieces over. ©Bioreconstruct Overall, Pueblo Esperanza is looking spectacular! Disney has not announced an official opening date, but rest assured, we’ll be sharing everything happening with this major project, including milestones, dates, and anything else you’ll need to know before your visit. ©Bioreconstruct Keep following Disney Food Blog for more, and while you’re here, check out some of our favorite snacks you can only get in Animal Kingdom. 26. One of the most talked about modern designers is putting his signature spin on classic Disney characters with a whole new line of home goods, and you’ve never seen Mickey & Friends quite like this. Gustaf Westman is a Swedish artist known for his playful, sculptural style, with a knack for transforming everyday home essentials like kitchenware, furniture, and decor items into eccentric statement pieces. Meant for the maximalists and collectors, his colorful and contemporary designs are the perfect pop of whimsy and charm for your space, and this new collaboration with Disney combines his distinct design language with characters we know and love. The Inspiration Behind Disney x Gustaf Westman Westman’s animated aesthetic does feel like something straight out of a classic Disney cartoon, so a collaboration with Disney made total sense. Drawing from the colors, shapes, and silhouettes of Mickey & Friends, he has crafted a collection of pieces that feel both instantly recognizable and completely unexpected. Despite his bold style, the collection somehow seems like more of a subtle nod to beloved Disney characters, rather than a literal approach. Instead of faces or traditional graphics, he relies on embellishments like Disney’s Donald Duck’s bowtie and Mickey Mouse’s ears, patterns like Minnie Mouse’s polka dots, or signature colorways to evoke their personalities, weaving them into his chunky, rounded, imaginative designs. It’s a fun way of capturing a character’s most identifiable visual cues and using those elements to catch the eye of and connect with Disney fans. And before he even started creating the collection, Westman paid a visit to Disneyland Paris to immerse himself in the worlds of these characters he would be taking inspiration from. But his personal love for Disney began long before this particular trip, with his own fandom helping to shape the design story and spark ideas. October 12, 2026: Sneak Peek at the First Disney x Gustaf Westman Items The first three items in the collection were revealed today, and if there’s one piece that feels like the perfect symbol of this collab, it’s the Mickey Mouse Tumbler. You get that immediately identifiable combination of red, black, and yellow hues, with Mickey Mouse’s unmistakable ears adorning the lid. This creation is a distinctly Disney take on Gustaf Westman’s glazed ceramic Chunky Tumbler, which is a staple of his brand and something I often see going viral on social media. It’s a practical piece that you can fill with your favorite beverage, adding a bit of Disney whimsy to wherever you set it down. Also joining the lineup is the black ceramic Mickey Mouse Cup. This sleek design again feels similar to the Chunky Cups Westman usually crafts, but of course features a Mickey Mouse-shaped saucer as the star. And the final piece shared today was the Mickey Mouse Sofa, a black leather creation that toes the line between furniture and art, almost feeling more like a sculpture. I’m sat for this one (literally). The rest of the collection will be shared at a later date, so keep checking back here on Disney Parks Blog for the full reveal. And trust me, Disney collectors and design enthusiasts will want to clear some shelf space before the remaining pieces arrive.
