We’re going to Disney World every single week, so we’re always looking out for the best potential essentials to bring to the parks and putting them to the test! Shark Chill Pill When it comes to essential items to bring to Disney World, there are a few things that come to mind. Backpacks, water bottles, chargers — they’re all important to have. Another thing we think can completely change your Disney day is a fan! Whether it’s the summer or the winter, the Florida heat can really get to you. Fans make spending time in the hot sun at Disney World so much easier. The question is, which fan should you get? DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Option 1: Shark ChillPill Fan Shark ChillPill Fan Let’s take a look at the Shark ChillPill 3-in-1 Fan! This item is a fan, a mister, and has a cooling plate. There are two mechanisms you need to use in order to turn it on: a slide switch, which is sort of the main power, and then you press the dial at the end of one of the tubular pieces to activate the device. The basic feature is called the high-speed fan, but we did find that it was weaker than other fans we’ve used. We tested it at its highest setting of 10, but it just did not bring the power as a fan. Here it is! The dry touch mist claims to have ultra-fine droplets for indoors and outdoors. It comes with a cumbersome wick that you have to apply and switch out yourself. You just have to fill the vessel up with water and replace the wick every 30 days. It comes loaded with one and three extras on the side, which means you will need to purchase new wicks. When we put it up to our face, we didn’t really feel much. This gives you a lot to do with your time and produces very little relief. Shark ChillPill Then came the InstaChill cooling plate, which claims to cool on contact to lower skin temp by up to 16°F. This actually rocked our world. It’s not quite freezing cold, but it is shockingly cold. At times when people start dropping like flies around Walt Disney World because they’re fainting from heat exhaustion, they usually tell you to run and get a bottle of water and pour it on yourself. But any kind of very cool surface that you can press on your forehead or the back of your neck will save a person from falling ill due to the heat, and this is something you can carry with you that will produce that effect instantly. Shark ChillPill When we used the ChillPill, the battery seemed to last a very long time. Overall, we think they packed an ambitious amount of ideas into this product. Two of them fell short for us, and one of them sort of blew our mind. Out of the four fans, this one is our loser just based on price and disappointment because of the price. It’s still a good find, but there are cheaper ones that get the job done! view ON AMAZON Option 2: AMKEN Waist Fan AMKEN Waist Fan The AMKEN Waist Fan is for someone who carries a lot of torso heat and overheats in their trunk or midsection. It’s for the person who doesn’t mind carrying a little extra weight in exchange for a serious cooling effect, and who can tolerate the noise of a fan running constantly if it means staying cool. We’ve used it indoors, in a quick-service restaurant, where we leaned it back on the little pull-out tab of the belt clip so the airflow hit our face. It amplified the air conditioning beautifully…almost too much. At one point, it made one spot on our stomach so cold we had to keep shifting it around. If you’re the type who overheats easily, even in indoor spaces at Disney, this is a great enhancement. It worked great for us! For $25 on Amazon, this is an amazingly effective product. Honestly, it feels like it’s worth much more than that. The primary feature is the fan itself. There are three speed settings, but we don’t think it’s worth carrying this around unless you’re going to use it on high. It’s simply too heavy for a light breeze when smaller, lighter fans could give you that. This is a product built for the hottest days in Disney World. Beyond the fan, it has a very bright LED light with multiple modes: press once for a steady flashlight, again for a flashing hazard effect, and again to turn it off. How it can prop up on tables! We like that we have this cooling option with us when we start to overheat, or even if our phone overheats (little hack). It cools both us and our device when needed. It also came with a belt, so we had the option if our clothing didn’t support the weight. It also comes with a lanyard-style strap for wearing it around your neck. The biggest pro is the sheer strength of the fan and how much cooling power it provides. AMKEN Waist Fan If there were a way to make it a little quieter, we’d change that. It’s impressively quiet for how powerful it is, but after a while it starts to make us a little crazy. That’s the trade-off: you get this incredible cooling power, but you have to accept sounding like you’re walking around with a vacuum cleaner in your shirt. It’s not deafening, but it’s definitely not silent either. It never claimed to be silent — it claimed to be a powerful, wearable cooling fan, and that’s exactly what it is. It even ended up lasting about 4 hours during our test. AMKEN Waist Fan We’d give this a solid four out of five stars. We almost gave it five, but the sound keeps us from doing that. The cooling power and versatility are incredible, but the constant noise does wear on you. This would be an amazing gift for anyone planning a Disney World trip, but also for people who deal with heat flashes, hot sweats, or just hate the heat. view ON AMAZON Option 3: Mouse Misting Fan LACOVIA Cute Mouse Misting Mini Fan Now, if you’re looking for a little bit of a Disney touch with your fan, you might want to grab the Mouse Misting Fan! The fan has 3 speeds, and who can resist the charms of a fan with Mickey ears that practically fits in your palm/pocket?! It also has nubs that we’ll refer to as “feet”, which can be used to put it on a desk or table while you’re seated to keep the fan upright without tipping over. It also has a plastic cage around the actual fan part so you don’t have to worry about a little one sticking their fingers in it. Mickey Fan It’s rechargeable with a USB-C charging cord that comes with it, and it lights up red while it’s being charged to let you know that it’s actively charging. It’s fairly easy to use, and the back stick folds/rotates down so you can have a longer handle. The package also comes with a dropper for the water reservoir, so you have an easier time filling it for the mister. It’s small enough to take with you if you need to. This is a great fan! The misting feature is cool in theory, but not practical. When we first heard it was a “misting” fan, we figured it was one like Disney where you squirt a jet of water in spurts that gets displaced by the fan blades. Nope, this one is a legitimate misting fan. It creates a small stream of mist from the center ring just under the fan, but it’s not very strong. In order to feel it, you have to have your face very close to the fan, and hope that the wind’s direction doesn’t steer it away from your face. Otherwise, you’re turning your hand. The water reservoir is small, and it seems to be sufficient. Accessories Overall, this made our trip easier, and we would 100% recommend it! view ON AMAZON Option 4: JISULIFE 3-in-1 Fan JISULIFE 3 IN 1 Handheld Mini Fan You just can’t go wrong with the JISULIFE 3-in-1 Handheld Fan! We find that this is absolutely worth the money. It’s multifunctional, so not only is it a rechargeable handheld fan with multiple settings, but it also doubles as a flashlight and charger. The JISULIFE Fan It’s so compact! Most fans are larger and bulky to carry around, but this one folds nicely to take up as little space in your bag as possible. We honestly have nothing that we’d want changed about this fan. You definitely need this for your trip! Especially if you’re not used to the Florida humidity and want to decrease the number of things in your bag since you can use it as a charger too. view ON AMAZON We’re always on the hunt for the latest and greatest Disney souvenirs and essentials, so don’t forget to stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for more! As someone with food allergies, I know firsthand just how stressful it can make traveling. Especially when you are out of your normal food routine and being exposed to a lot of new restaurants and food items. This is why having a great understanding of how food allergies are handled whenever you are traveling can lead to more peace of mind leading up to your trip and less worry and stress when you are actually there. Caramel Cinnamon Cupcake So, today we will be diving into nine tips, tricks, and pieces of advice that will help everyone with food allergies plan their next trip to Disney World and give you all the information you need to know to eat some amazing food with less stress. Because let’s be honest, eating is such an important part of any Disney World vacation, and having food allergies does not mean you need to miss out! I have been traveling to Disney World my entire life, and navigating my food allergies has always been a part of any trip I have ever taken. Now, before we start diving into all the specifics, it is important to know that, as someone with many allergies, the place where I’ve always had the best experience and felt most comfortable was Disney World. And if you want even more information on how Disney handles food allergies, you can check out our DFB Food Allergies and Intolerances Page! #1 Mobile Order When You Can Mobile Ordering on the My Disney Experience App is one of the best tips I can give to anyone traveling with food allergies. One of the most stressful parts of ordering food when you have allergies is looking at a menu and not even knowing where to start in terms of finding something safe for you to eat. Then, the other big stressor is figuring out if the food you are able to eat can be prepared with no cross-contamination from other unsafe foods. Mobile Order pickup window Given how complicated food allergies are, you might be confused that one of my top tips is to order your food ahead on the app. However, Mobile Ordering at Disney is different. It is an option available at most Quick Service restaurants around the parks and hotels where you can order your food in advance instead of at the counter. Mobile Order window at Columbia Harbour House Well, when you are ordering food, you can actually filter the entire menu under each of your allergens and then order your food under that specific allergy. So, when Disney receives the order, they will automatically prepare the food in a separate area to make sure it avoids any cross-contamination. Now let’s dive into the actual steps of making this order: In the My Disney Experience App, click the small + at the bottom of your screen, and in the options that come up, select “Order Food” ©Disney Next, you will be able to navigate between all of the parks, hotels, etc., and once you find the restaurant you would like to order from, select “Begin Order” ©Disney Then you will see a screen featuring all your options for food, and you’ll select “Allergy Friendly” Look for the Allergy-friendly icon in Mobile Order ©Disney Once you select this section, you will be taken to a screen where you can select your specific allergy ©Disney Once your allergy is selected, you can view which options on the menu will be safe for you to order ©Disney Once you select the item, you’ll see Disney’s Allergy notice before you can then add it to your cart ©Disney Now that you’ve gone through the steps of placing your order, you’ll wait for it to be ready. As a note, allergy orders will likely take a few extra minutes, since they are being prepared separately. Once your order is done, it will be brought out to you with a special allergy marker, and the Cast Member will confirm your allergies before handing over your order. If your food does not have a purple allergen marker and no Cast Member mentions your allergies, you’ll want to ask to speak with someone to confirm your order was made with the allergy protocols. Liberty Tree Tavern Allergy-Friendly Platter Now, if you ever have any questions or do not feel comfortable ordering on the app, you can always speak directly with a Cast Member. The biggest issue with Mobile Ordering is that you can only order your food under one allergen. So, I am allergic to Eggs and also Peanuts and all Tree Nuts, and in the Allergy guide on the app, Eggs are one category and Peanut/Tree Nut is another. So, what I typically do is check under both sections to see if I can have the item, then choose one allergen to place the order under. This works for me specifically; however, if you have multiple allergens and do not feel comfortable with only one allergen being noted on your order, then you should speak with a Cast Member and place your order in person. Purple allergen marker Sometimes your food will also be placed in a to-go box with an allergen sticker on top noting which allergen you placed the order under. Recently, one member of our team actually got this same sticker on a baguette they received while eating at Be Our Guest Restaurant. Food Allergy Sticker Remember to always speak to a Cast Member if either the Allergen marker or sticker does not come out with your food, if you have any questions, or if you do not feel comfortable with any aspect of the Mobile Ordering process. #2 Always Ask To Speak With A Chef Now, as we began outlining in tip number one, the best thing to do if you have food allergies and are visiting Disney World is to speak with a chef. You might not realize this, but at any restaurant across Disney World, you can ALWAYS ask to speak with a chef if you have any questions or concerns. This is particularly helpful at any table-service restaurants or lounges. Steakhouse 71 Whenever you are dining at any of these restaurants, let your server know early if you have any food allergies. They might not ask if anyone in the group has allergies, so make sure to mention this yourself before you order food if the server does not ask. Now, if your allergy is less of a concern or you personally do not feel the need to speak with a chef directly, you can let your server know about your allergies and what food you would like to order, and they can speak with the chef and the kitchen staff on your behalf to make sure it is safe for you to eat and prepared separately. Kona Cafe However, what I recommend, especially for anyone with more severe allergies, is to speak with a Chef directly. Sometimes the servers will ask if you want to speak with a chef but even if they don’t offer it is always something you are allowed to ask. The process is very simple: the chef will come directly out to your table and discuss your allergies and go over the options on the menu you are able to have. 50s Prime Time If you do not love any of the options available to you, the chefs will also work with you to see if any accommodations can be made to other menu items to make them safe for you to eat; this is not a guarantee, but something the chefs will try their best to accommodate for you. And again, your food will be made in a separate area to avoid any cross-contamination. #3 How To Order At Any EPCOT Festival Booths Now, just because you have food allergies does not mean you have to miss out on the amazing food and drinks around EPCOT during any of the festivals. While some of the food booths do have a digital allergen guide in the My Disney Experience App, I actually do not recommend using that. It is only available for a few food booths, and it does not take into consideration cross-contamination with other food at the booth. 2026 Australia Booth So, instead, what you should do is, when you’re ordering at the booth, let the Cast Member know that you have food allergies. Then there are actually phones at every food booth that call a chef directly. So, as soon as you mention your name, allergies, and the food or drink you would like to try, the Cast Member will give the chef a call, and they will let you know if the food is safe for you to eat or if it can be accommodated. 2026 Brazil booth Then the item will typically be prepared separately automatically, and the Cast Member handing you your food will note that it’s an allergy order. However, if this is a concern for you after you order the food, you can ask the Cast Member specifically for your item to be prepared separately with new gloves and utensils. And, of course, when you grab your food, you can ask the Cast Member if it was prepared separately. 2026 Greece Booth As a whole, since the kitchens are much smaller, eating at a Festival booth can pose more of an issue if you are worried about cross-contamination, so if you have any questions or concerns, always ask the Cast Members. #4 There Are Several Non-Disney Restaurants on Disney Property Throughout the parks, resorts, and Disney Springs, there are a handful of restaurants that are not actually owned and operated by Disney. Meaning that they sometimes do not have the same allergy protocols and procedures in place at Disney restaurants. Blaze Pizza in Disney Springs This does not mean that you should avoid these restaurants, but if you go into a restaurant and the procedure seems different than what you are used to, it could mean that it is a non-Disney-owned restaurant. This is just something I think is good to know before your trip, and if you really want to stick to Disney-owned and operated only, you can always look up a specific restaurant you want to try and see if it is owned by Disney or a third party. #5 Getting Food Will Take Longer This is something I’ve mentioned earlier in this list, but it’s important to remember that ordering food when you have food allergies will take a little bit longer. Whether it’s at a quick service, table service, Festival booth, etc., if you have food allergies, it’s a good idea to budget a few extra minutes for eating. Be Our Guest Restaurant It is also possible that anyone in your group who did not order with a food allergy may get their food a few minutes before you. In my experience, it has never taken more than an extra five or ten minutes to get my food, but it’s just something to keep in mind when planning! #6 Special Diets Email If your allergies are severe or if you have a medically restrictive diet, there is an email you can reach out to 14 days before your trip. Disney asks that this email be used only if “anyone in your party has either 4 or more allergy requests, requires pureed meals, or adheres to a medically restrictive diet (such as very low protein).” Yak & Yeti So, this might not be something that every person traveling to Disney World with allergies needs to use, but if you are especially concerned or have a long list of allergies, this email is a great option to have! Here is the email: Special.Diets@DisneyWorld.com #7 Erin McKenna’s Bakery in Disney Springs One of my favorite spots in all of Disney World to recommend to people with food allergies or restrictions is Erin McKenna’s Bakery in Disney Springs. This is a spot that is Vegan, Gluten-free, and Kosher, and also free from dairy, eggs, nuts, and soy. I visit this spot almost every time I visit Disney Springs, and as someone who is allergic to eggs, it is one of the only places at Disney World where I can pick out a baked good. Cupcakes at Erin McKenna This is an especially amazing spot to bring any kids with food allergies; there are so many delicious-looking treats around Disney World that kids with allergies have to miss out on, and this is a special place where they can pick out a fun sweet treat. I have visited the spot so many times and seen little kids just light up when they realize they can pick out whatever they want on the menu. Erin McKenna’s Bakery This really is an amazing spot, but as with any restaurant, if you have any questions or concerns, you can speak with the staff there! REVIEW: Erin McKenna’s Bakery In Disney Springs #8 How To Eat At Buffets or Family Style Restaurants Any restaurant where you are serving yourself or where all the food comes out family style for the whole table can pose a concern for anyone with food allergies worried about cross-contamination. So, when you visit one of these restaurants at Disney World, speak to a chef, and they will help accommodate the experience for you. In the past, I have had a chef walk through everything I could have on the buffet and then offer to prepare my food back in the kitchen if I was worried about cross-contamination on the buffet line. Buffet at Chef Mickey’s Then, at family-style restaurants, if some of the items the table is ordering come with food I am allergic to, I will typically be given my own platter of food that I can eat on my own to not have to worry about the cross-contamination of the rest of the table. And for all you care to enjoy family-style experiences, there has been no issue with me simply getting refills that are separate from the refills given to the rest of the table. Time to eat at Garden Grill! Neither of these outcomes is a guarantee, but I personally have never had an issue with Disney being able to accommodate my allergies at this style of restaurant and make sure my food is separate and free from cross-contamination. Which is really great since so many of the character dining experiences are either buffets or family-style, meaning you do not need to avoid these just because you have allergies. #9 You Can Bring Your Own Food Into The Parks Now, if you would feel more comfortable with your own food, you are allowed to bring your own snacks, drinks, and food into all of the parks. You can bring your own food into Disney World This is a great way to ensure you feel comfortable with your food options or to have as a backup option if the food in the parks doesn’t work for you. Conclusion Traveling with food allergies can be stressful and intimidating, but Disney World really does an incredible job of making the experience as easy as possible. So, with these nine tips and tricks, you’ll be more prepared than ever to tackle Disney World with food allergies. Because at Disney, just because you have restrictions does not mean that you need to miss out on all the amazing food and drink options around the parks and resorts! What if tomorrow wasn’t just the day after today, but actually a promise of wonderful things and magical moments still to come? On November 1, Disney Vacation Club launches a new brand campaign — “Always a Magical Tomorrow” — that answers that question. Disney Vacation Club Members are some of Disney’s most dedicated and passionate fans. This new tagline is a celebration of that passion and the magical moments Members (and future Members) look forward to most. The campaign’s new ad spot brings that promise to life through vibrant scenes inspired by real Disney vacation moments. Fans are invited to be present in the memories they are making now and imagine all of the memories still to be made. At its core, the campaign reflects a simple belief: with Disney Vacation Club, there is always something magical to look forward to. “This campaign represents an evolution of how we tell the Disney Vacation Club story,” said Joe Rand, SVP of Disney Signature Experiences Commercial Strategy. “‘Always a Magical Tomorrow’ speaks to the unique value of DVC membership. It reflects both the memories Members have already created and the excitement of what’s still ahead. The new tagline gives us a clear and compelling way to communicate the emotional connection guests have with Disney Vacation Club and the experiences that keep them coming back.” As Disney Vacation Club approaches its 35th anniversary, the campaign reflects both a legacy of magical vacations and an exciting future still to come. There are so many new memories, new adventures, and new tomorrows waiting for generations of Members. From Disney Parks, Resorts, and Cruise Line vacations to beach getaways and adventures around the world, every vacation becomes part of a larger story that continues to unfold for generations. No two Disney Vacation Club vacations are exactly alike, yet each one holds the promise of something special waiting just ahead. After all, tomorrow can be many things, but with Disney Vacation Club, it’s always a tomorrow worth looking forward to. The new campaign also embraces the many different ways a Disney Vacation Club tomorrow can feel. Your tomorrows can be whatever you want them to be. Maybe tomorrow is a thrilling ride on TRON Lightcycle / Run. Sometimes tomorrow is a cherished fiftieth wedding anniversary. It might be a splashy afternoon by the pool or sweet moment taking the first taste of your forever favorite treat. Because every Member’s story is different, the campaign invites fans to imagine your own future filled with people you love in places you love. This fall, a tasty lineup of new frozen slushes and shakes is rolling out at Walt Disney World Resort. Have you ever wondered about the minds behind sweet treats like the new Peaches and Cream frozen slush or the S’mores Gelato Milkshake? The ideas for new beverages like these often start with cast members who make them for guests every day. Teams of cast members across Disney World help transform ideas into new drinks, blending operational expertise, and creativity with the power of collaboration. One of those cast members is Dan Laske, a beverage concept and program manager with over a decade of experience across the resort. Recently, one of his beverage ideas made the leap from concept to menu board as part of Walt Disney World’s newest lineup of frozen beverages. From College Program to Crafting Concoctions Dan’s Disney journey began in 2015 when he joined Disney World through the Disney College Program. He initially worked as a housekeeping cast member at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. After completing his program, he eventually returned and moved into food and beverage roles at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort, and Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside. Along the way, Dan discovered a passion for experimenting with beverages. “I fell in love with the creative side of developing beverages and experimenting with flavors,” Dan said. “I’ve carried that with me ever since.” That interest eventually led him to where he is today. Now, he supports beverage programs across Walt Disney World and works alongside food and beverage leaders to develop future offerings. A Tag-Team Approach to Beverage Innovation Dan’s idea came to him while he was working as a guest experience manager at World Premiere Food Court at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort. Surrounded by coffee and ice cream, he paid close attention to guest preferences and feedback. Over time, he began to explore an idea for a beverage that could bring those two flavors together. That curiosity eventually led him to the Espresso Martini Milkshake. After pitching the idea, Dan partnered with Disney World’s Food and Beverage Concept team to work through things like sourcing ingredients and finalizing the recipe. Dan also asked for feedback from frontline cast members to understand how the drink could fit into daily operations and whether they could prepare it consistently for guests. “Operators know their location,” Dan said. “They’re the subject matter experts on the flow of the restaurant and the small details of how they operate. On the other hand, the Concept team can share best practices while offering advice and resources. It’s a tag-team effort.” The process highlighted the collaboration required to bring a new beverage offering from concept to reality. Dan estimates it took about 10 rounds of testing to reach the final recipe, with adjustments to ingredients, proportions, and preparation methods. Every version was documented and refined before arriving at the finished product. For Dan, the development process was the most fun part of the whole experience. “I had the most fun playing with the flavors, tweaking the recipe and getting it to taste perfect,” Dan said. “Sometimes I would adjust an ingredient by only half an ounce, taste it and realize that I had gotten it exactly where I wanted it. That’s a good feeling.” Why Dan Encourages Every Cast Member to Pitch Their Next Big Idea As someone who spent years growing his career across Disney World Resort hotels, Dan’s current role is a full-circle moment. After working in the food and beverage operation and bringing one of his own ideas to life, he now supports cast members developing future offerings themselves. For cast members who have an idea they believe in, his advice is simple. “Don’t be afraid to speak up,” Dan said. “Even if you think it’s a crazy idea, pitch it and then find a version that works. Learn the process and be as creative as you can.” When guests enjoy a frozen slush, a milkshake or any other beverage at Walt Disney World, it’s because cast members worked behind the scenes to turn an idea into tangible reality. For Dan, all it took was a simple concept, a willingness to experiment, and a passion for creating something that guests will love. If you’ve been watching Dancing With the Stars this season and then logged online afterward, you’ve probably noticed there’s some drama swirling around. ©ABC Our team has been REALLY into the popular reality show this season, going as far as having a DFB Dancing With the Stars bracket tournament. And since we’re so invested, our algorithms have been showing us ALL the drama. So here’s a roundup of some of the big things that have been going on! Val’s Suspension Starting out the list with the latest drama, we have to chat about Val Chmerkovskiy’s one-episode suspension. During Super Bowl Night on the show, Harry Shum Jr. and his partner Jenna Johnson performed a Samba. After the routine, judge Carrie Ann Inaba called out a lift in the routine that was illegal according to the rules of competitive Latin dancing. Jenna questioned the lift, and Carrie Ann reached for the rulebook sitting next to her, reading out the definition of a lift to prove that the couple needed to be docked a point. ©Disney The moment was tense, to say the least, but the judges still gave Harry and Jenna 8s for their performance. Well, after the show, Jenna’s husband (Val) took to social media to express his displeasure with the situation, saying, “You almost saw Fresh Prince enter the ballroom last night.” The comment was a reference to the 2022 Oscars incident where Will Smith slapped Chris Rock after Rock made a joke about Smith’s wife. Smith then told Rock to keep his wife’s name out of his (Rock’s) mouth. ©Disney Val was suspended for his social media post and forced to sit out for Dedication Night on the show. The internet had a lot of things to say about the incident, ranging from support of the suspension to anger that Val was being punished. Critiquing Alan When Val was suspended, his celebrity partner, Jenna Dewan, was still allowed to dance for the week (she wasn’t involved in the situation outside of being partnered with Val). For Dedication Night, eliminated pro Alan Bersten stepped in as Jenna’s partner. Dancing With the Stars didn’t share why this particular choice was made, but some fans theorized it was because Alan was a similar build and size to Val and thus could more easily fit in the costume and perform the dance with Jenna Dewan. ©Disney After this replacement was announced, former DWTS pro Gleb Savchenko went live on TikTok and discussed the subject. “He’s a good dancer, I guess, for TV, but if we talk about art? Like, creating art? He’s like, eh,” Gleb said about Alan. “I don’t have anything against the guy, just, like, why Alan?” After Gleb’s comments, fans took to the internet to defend Alan, particularly noting that Alan has won a Mirrorball Trophy in the past (with his 2019 celebrity partner Hannah Brown) while Gleb has not. Strange Sponsorship Dances Anyone who watches Dancing With the Stars, particularly in the early part of the season, can likely notice that the show is sometimes crammed for time. The judges have time limits on their comments, and dancers are quickly rushed from the floor to the skybox for a post-performance interview. This year, fans have been especially critical about how time is used throughout the episodes, sharing online that there are too many ads and bonus performances. ©Disney Two bonus performances in particular have been the subject of much online discourse — the sponsored dances dedicated to Paris Baguette and the new The Cat in the Hat movie. The former was early in the season and starred Julianne Hough, while the latter came during Dedication Night and featured Mirrorball Trophy winner Xochitl Gomez. Fans found the Cat in the Hat performance abrupt during a night when most of the dances were emotional and heart-warming. Judging Inconsistencies Another hot-button subject this season? Judging inconsistency! Fans have taken to TikTok frequently to discuss their displeasure with the judges’ scores and commentary, saying that it seems like judges are playing favorites or scoring some couples harsher than others. ©Disney There have also been many complaints that the judges don’t give helpful feedback when doling out scores that are lower than the perfect ten. Many longtime fans have agreed that if the judges give anything less than a perfect score, the couples should be given critique to help them work on their performance. Casting Controversy And finally, we’re throwing it all the way back to the casting announcement. When the cast was announced, fans were upset for a number of reasons. First, many folks didn’t like the idea of having Sarah Jane Nader and Conner Leavitt on the show, as they were relatives of past contestants and not as “famous” as some of the others in the cast. Consequently, those two were the first competitors eliminated from this season. ©ABC The other big complaint was that Harry Shum Jr. was not partnered with pro Britt Stewart, when Britt had previously stated in interviews that he was her “dream partner.” After Britt was eliminated mid-season with her partner Taylor Hanson, it came to light that Taylor had requested to work with her specifically. ©Disney That’s a wrap on some of the biggest drama we’ve seen this season so far! Pin trading has been around for what feels like forever at Disney Parks, but recently, it’s gotten a new surge of fans ready to grab the most coveted pins and trade their hearts away. With so many people getting into pin trading, the demand for new pins is going up, up, up. It’s been a bit chaotic lately, and Disney has started implementing new ways to manage crowds who are desperate for the new pins. Pin trading board Disneyland just announced a virtual queue system would be coming to Downtown Disney for an upcoming pin release and we have everything you need to know right here. On November 3rd, a virtual queue will be in place for the Downtown Disney pin release, which includes the Kingdom Hearts collection. Guests must use the Disneyland app to join the queue, and a standby queue will not be available while the virtual queue is in use. Guests may request to enter the queue once, and they cannot join as part of a party, so you’ll need your own account. Downtown Disney Guests can join the queue on November 3rd at 5 AM and must be within 60 miles of Downtown Disney. Your boarding group will need to be called before you can access Disney’s Pin Traders. You’ll receive a notification through the app, and once you arrive at Disney’s Pin Traders, you scan your QR code. Each guest may use one phone and one boarding pass, and they cannot be linked or shared. New pin trading kiosks in Disneyland If inventory remains available, we may offer a standby queue later in the day, but some featured items may sell out before the standby queue opens. Products are available while supplies last and may be offered at other locations at a later date. Pins Right now, Disney has not confirmed whether this will be used at Disney World or for upcoming releases at either park. Right now, the virtual queue will be used only for November 3rd at Disneyland, but we’ll keep an eye out for any upcoming news and updates. In the meantime, make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for more Disney news along with tips and tricks on how to have the best Disney vacation ever. EPCOT is known for its indulgent sweet treats, and we’ve eaten our way around the World Showcase hundreds of times, trying every single dessert. If you asked us to pick our favorite pavilion, it’s a hard choice, but we only have one word for you: caramel! Chocolate Pistachio Square Karamell-Küche, the caramel shop in EPCOT’s Germany Pavilion, just released a super trendy new treat. This Chocolate Pistachio Square is giving Dubai Chocolate vibes, but how does it taste compared to Karamell-Küche’s caramel-stuffed treats? The Chocolate Pistachio Square is $5.29 at Karamell-Küche. It’s made with caramel, crunchy pistachios, and a dark chocolate coating. Chocolate Pistachio Square Caramel is the prominent ingredient here, so much that we were surprised it wasn’t in the name. The bitter dark chocolate mellows out the ultra-sweet caramel, and the shell is hardened for a crunchy bite. Crunchy toasted pistachio pieces were evenly distributed throughout for even more crunch, but the flavor was very mild, more of a general nuttiness than pistachio. Chocolate Pistachio Square Overall, we’d recommend this little guy to anyone wanting a crunchy, nutty snack at Karamell-Küche. It’s not too sweet and a great pick for someone who wants a caramelly treat without a sugar bomb. Chocolate Pistachio Square We’ll be sure to keep you updated on more new sweet treats at Disney World, so stay tuned to Disney Food Blog for more reviews! A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, we used to NEVER be able to get reservations at this Disney World lounge. Oh, how times have changed! Galaxy’s Edge There’s been a shift in the force at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Do you feel it? What once was impossible to get into at Galaxy’s Edge, is now dryer than Tatooine. What once was the most hard to get reservation throughout all of Disney World, is now BEGGING people to step inside. Let’s talk about Oga’s Cantina! When Galaxy’s Edge first opened at Hollywood Studios in 2019, everyone had to go check it out! For the very first time, Star Wars fans could live their dream of walking into a droid factory, exploring a market in the outer rim, checking out a space cantina, and flying the Millennium Falcon. That’s literally only to name a few things, because there are seriously so many details and things to check out in this land! Savi’s Workshop While everyone loved all that Galaxy’s Edge had to offer, the three most talked about things were Rise of the Resistance, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, and Oga’s Cantina. The two rides always saw high wait times (and continue to do so), while Oga’s Cantina was genuinely the hardest lounge to book a reservation for. Not just at Hollywood Studios, but at Disney World! Oga’s Cantina in Hollywood Studios Since opening, you had to make sure you were ready to book a reservation at Oga’s Cantina as soon as the next window opened on the Disney World website or the My Disney Experience app. If you weren’t fast enough, all the time slots would get full. Walk-up wasn’t even a thing you’d think about, because you just most likely weren’t getting in if there were no reservations available. DJ R-3X It was like this for years and years…until now. There’s been a huge shift with this popular lounge, and when we say huge, we mean HUGE. The drinks at Oga’s Cantina are so unique! We recently went to Hollywood Studios, and what we’re about to tell you is something we would’ve NEVER imagined we’d see at this park. As we were strolling through Galaxy’s Edge, we saw Cast Members walking through Marketplace, advertising Oga’s Cantina, trying to get customers to come. Um…hold on…they were ADVERTISING Oga’s Cantina?! They were ASKING guests to come?! What Will You Have? As far as shocks go at Disney World, there aren’t many we’ve had like this one. Now, with the holidays just around the corner, we can’t imagine the popular Star Wars lounge will be empty like this for long. That being said, if you’re at Hollywood Studios or have a trip coming up, you might be able to get in easy-peasy. So, take advantage of it, especially if you’ve never been before! Ohh secret menu item The lounge is well known for its unique concoctions, and it has choices for kids and adults. You can try themed cocktails like the Fuzzy Tauntaun and Jet Juice, as well as non-alcoholic specialty drinks like the cookie-topped Blue Bantha. It’s definitely worth checking out. Super yummy We’re here to tell you Disney news, updates, tips, and stories. So, make sure to follow us at the Disney Food Blog for even more! I’m sick of it; I’m not doing it anymore… I’m CHANGING the way I go to Disney World! Magic Kingdom I recently reached out to the Millennials on our team, and that’s basically what they told me! They’re reaching an age where they’re ready to change their vacation habits, particularly when it comes to visiting Disney World. Let’s see what they’re giving up! Vacationing for the Social Media Feed First of all, Millennials have decided they’re no longer vacationing for the social media feed! Those trips to Disney World aren’t all about getting the perfect picture or doing everything a TikToker told you was a “must-do.” Instead, the trips are now all about doing what YOU want to do. Eat what you want and do what you want! Basically, Millennials are no longer choosing rides, snacks, or park outfits just because someone else told them to. If they want to do the least-popular attractions or be inefficient with their time or wear something that definitely went out of style years ago…they’re going to do it! Why? Because THEY are the ones paying for their own vacations. It doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks. Clinging to the Disney World of Their Youth Millennials have also decided (or at least some of them have decided) that it’s time to stop clinging to the Disney World of their youth. Sure, nostalgia has its place, and it’s great for looking back on old photos and being reminded of what once was, but as we’ve all learned over time, Disney World is constantly changing. Sunset Boulevard It doesn’t do anyone much good to cling tightly to a Disney World that no longer exists. If you do, it’ll be SO much harder to enjoy your Disney trips in the here and now! So my coworkers have shared they’re ready to give up on calling Hollywood Studios “MGM Studios,” lamenting constantly about rides that are gone, or complaining about changes. It would be a shame to make yourself miserable when you’re in “The Most Magical Place on Earth,” especially if you’re there to make memories with your own kids! Forcing Themselves to Do Too Much And finally, it’s okay to admit when Disney World is just too much, and Millennials have learned that lesson. Twelve-hour park days without a sip of water in sight are in the past, and Millennials are prepared to stand up and say, “I don’t have to wake up at the crack of dawn every day and rope drop to have a good time!” They want naps, they want rest days, and they’re not nearly as keen on drinking around the world as they once were. Crowds on Main Street, U.S.A. Millennials are also ready to skip the rides that they find overrated and uncomfortable. Back hurt after Expedition Everest or Space Mountain? On the skip list! Hate soggy socks and wet underwear? Kali River Rapids is a no-go. Similar to the previous point, there’s no reason to make yourself miserable in Disney World on purpose. Kali River Rapids in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Now that the millennials are older, it’s time to just enjoy Disney the way you want to! NEW FOOD ALERT! Disneyland fans, you’ll want to hear this, because a brand-new spot is officially opening in just a few weeks at Disney California Adventure. California Adventure That’s right, Disney has confirmed that Bountiful Valley Brews will open sometime in November, plus we just got a look at the menu. And it’s safe to say we can’t wait to visit when it opens! Bountiful Valley Brews is a new kiosk opening at DCA and is themed to one of the park’s opening-day attractions, Bountiful Valley Farm, which was a walk-through experience celebrating California’s rich farming history. Disney has also shared that this spot will be “a little taste of the valley, right in the heart of Disney California Adventure Park.” @disneyeats on Instagram This spot was announced several months ago, which is why we are so thrilled it will officially open sometime in November! While Disneyland did not give us an exact date, we did finally get a look at the menu: Pepperoni Pizza Egg Roll with pesto dipping sauce. ©Disney Pomegranate-Blueberry Refresher: Made with pomegranate & lime juices and blueberry foam topped with berries (non-alcoholic). ©Disney Vodka Pomegranate-Blueberry Martini: Made with vodka, pomegranate and lime juices, and blueberry foam. ©Disney Strawberry-Mango Margarita: Made with tequila, strawberry, mango, orange, and lime juices and a chile-lime rim. ©Disney Southern Whiskey Peach Tea: Made with whiskey, peach black tea, garnished with a peach gummy ring. ©Disney Bountiful Valley Cocktail Flight: Vodka Pomegranate-Blueberry Martini, Strawberry-Mango Margarita, and Whiskey Peach Tea Select craft beers Select micheladas Now, it’s safe to say that Disney fans have a lot of feelings about this new spot opening, but one of the MOST common is from Disneyland locals begging Disney to trade out that Pepperoni Pizza Egg Roll with the iconic Cheeseburger Spring Roll available in Magic Kingdom. One user, @sarahlovesdisneyland, even shared, “Please please please bring over the cheeseburger spring rolls from Walt Disney World!!!” Cheeseburger Spring Rolls But other than the pleas for those famous Cheeseburger Spring Rolls to finally make their West Coast debut, most everyone is excited for a new spot to grab some bites and drinks in DCA. Disney California Adventure If you want to check out the entire announcement, you can right here! So, if you are visiting Disney California Adventure in the next few weeks, make sure to keep your eyes open because Bountiful Valley Brews will be opening sometime in November. We will be constantly checking the park for updates on when this spot will be opening, so stay tuned to Disney Food Blog so you can catch our full review whenever it opens! EPCOT finished its massive transformation project back in 2024, which brought new names to the sections at the front of the park, new lighting for Spaceship Earth, a new entrance fountain, a new dining spot, and more. Part of that massive project included light-up sidewalks and a glowing EPCOT logo on the pavement near Spaceship Earth that was meant to sync up with the Spaceship Earth lighting show. The light-up pavement It seemed like a good idea at the time, but the light strips embedded in the pavement continued to have technical failures, while the plastic covers on the lights warped in the Florida heat. The strips even popped out of the ground occasionally and became tripping hazards. Disney finally decided it just wasn’t working out and began replacing that pavement. Well, now, that pavement project is complete. Yes, the EPCOT pavement lightning looked cool when it was working properly, but apparently, its problems were just too much for Disney to try to overcome. Now, the pavement has been replaced. The new pavement has the same curved design that formed the EPCOT logo, but it has lost the lightning effects. So it will look more or less the same during the day, but different at night. The new pavement However, Disney did add reflective flecks to the replacement concrete, so they can catch light and sort of do something other than just look flat at night. So you’ll still get a little bit of the effect at night, but, again, it’s going to look totally different. The design is the same Although that project is complete, some more work is coming to EPCOT soon. At this year’s D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, we learned that the big Spaceship Earth update that was abandoned during the transformation project is now scheduled to happen sometime in the future. The new version of the ride will focus on human connection. Disney has not yet announced when the changes to Spaceship Earth might happen, though. ©Disney But that’s not all. Disney has also shared that Journey Into Imagination will soon be changing, too. The company is bringing back a classic character to the ride, Dreamfinder. Disney said, “We are taking a new journey into imagination at EPCOT with Dreamfinder and Figment!” So the two will be reunited again. Again, Disney has not yet revealed a timeline for this change. ©D23 We’ll be keeping an eye out for more EPCOT changes and more changes in Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB for more. July 1st, 2027 is set to see the opening of a BRAND-NEW hotel in Disney World for the first time in forever — Lakeshore Lodge! Model of Lakeshore Lodge, including Wetlands Water Area From a water play complex that sounds more like a water park than a pool area (and a really fun one at that!) to dining and lounge options, a literal new perspective on one of the Magic Kingdom’s most iconic presentations, and of course the consistent perks available to all Disney World hotel guests, Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge is set to be loaded with perks for guests! The 960+ room Lakeshore Lodge is being built near the Fort Wilderness Campgrounds on the former site of the long-shuttered River Country water park. Its design aesthetic is “inspired by the majesty of nature and its enduring influence on Disney artists,” with elements of numerous films, including Pocahontas, Brother Bear, Encanto, Fantasia, and Bambi. Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge ©Disney Dining Options Like Disney’s other Deluxe Tier hotels, the Lakeshore Lodge will offer several dining options, including: Moonglade will be Lakeshore Lodge’s primary table service restaurant, and will offer a selection of “thoughtfully prepared dishes featuring seasonal and locally sourced ingredients.” Beyond the Florida-tinged dishes that will make up the menu, a major draw of the restaurant will likely be the massive floor-to-ceiling windows, which will “frame the gracefully arching cypress trees along Bay Lake where artful lighting and nuanced design reflect the interplay of light and shadow,” according to Disney. Moonglade ©Disney Bay Lake Provisions, the hotel’s primary quick-service restaurant, will offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner – – including a selection of specialty coffees – – in a marketplace-style atmosphere. Disney also says guests should “keep an eye out for woodland critters inspired by beloved Disney classics.” Bay Lake Provisions ©Disney Paint Out Point Bar & Grill, the hotel’s pool bar, will feature a menu made up of shareable bites and specialty beverages, while the decor will feature a collection of original works by Imagineers inspired by plein-air painting that draw inspiration from the Bay Lake landscapes. Paint Out Point Bar & Grill ©Disney The Branch & Brush Lounge, located just beyond the hotel’s lobby, will offer a selection of handcrafted cocktails for guests to sip as they take in expansive views of Bay Lake. The lounge’s decor will be “inspired by the beauty” of the changing seasons, thanks to rich colors, natural textures, and a matching collection of artwork. That plays off a “captivating color-changing chandelier that will bring the beauty of all four seasons to life.” Branch & Brush Concept Art ©Disney The Wetlands Lakeshore Lodge’s pool complex will be an attraction in and of itself. The Wetlands will offer a mixture of several different kinds of areas designed for guests, including Heron Shores and Otter Spring, each loaded with interactive water features that draw inspiration from the classic 1995 animated film Pocahontas, specifically the lyrics “the heron and the otter are my friends” from “Colors of the Wind.” Meanwhile, the Daydream River will offer guests a “leisurely” tour around the Wetlands area and allow them to see the landscape, and the Lakeside Lagoon entry feature pool will sit as the main hub of the area and include a water slide. ©Disney Dandelion Terrace Guests can end their night at Dandelion Terrace, a lounge where guests can gather “after the sun sets… to see Magic Kingdom Park fireworks lighting up the sky over the waters of Bay Lake”, with “soft lighting and sweeping views” setting the mood for the show. The Dandelion Lounge will join the litany of spaces to watch the Magic Kingdom’s nighttime fireworks like the California Grill observation deck at the Contemporary Resort, the beaches at the Grand Floridian and the Polynesian, and the Bamboo Terrace and Wave Break Terrace, both located at the Polynesian’s Island Tower, which opened in late 2024. Dandelion Terrace ©Disney However, there will be one major difference between the Lakeshore Lodge’s new lounge and all these spaces. Namely, the new Dandelion Lounge will provide views of the fireworks over Bay Lake, whereas all of the hotels on the monorail loop — the aforementioned Grand Floridian, Polynesian Village, and Contemporary resorts — surround the Seven Seas Lagoon. In other words, a completely different perspective. The two-story lounge will also feature archival artwork from Disney classics like Fantasia as well as themed, whimsical dandelion light fixtures. Artwork ©Disney In addition to these specific perks, Lakeshore Lodge will also offer the package of perks that Disney hotel guests are accustomed to, including: Water transportation to the Magic Kingdom Bus transportation to EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom Early Entry, which grants guests staying at Disney World resort hotels a 30-minute period where they can enter each of Disney World’s theme parks before they officially open every day of their stay and hop on eligible rides early Extended Evening Hours, which offers two extra hours to guests staying at Disney Deluxe Tier or Deluxe Villa resorts at select theme parks on select evenings after the park closes to the general public The Free Water Park Perk, which is available during the summer, gives each member of a guest’s party free admission to one of Disney World’s water parks — Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon — on their check-in day Boat Dock The Lakeshore Lodge’s July 1st opening is coming up fast, and Disney World’s newest hotel is set to be packed with perks! Stay tuned to DFB for more updates! Lakeshore Lodge is far from the only change coming to Disney World in 2027. Earlier this month, we mentioned that one of our favorite dining spots in Disney World would soon be accepting reservations for the first time ever. Well, the time has finally come! Nomad Lounge We tell people all the time that if you’re going to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, you need to check out the Nomad Lounge. It was already a go-to spot for a drink and a snack, and now big changes have arrived. You can now make a reservation for the lounge, which is something you couldn’t do before! Nomad Lounge reservations are officially available now, and there are still plenty of times for you to book in the month of November. Now, if you’re going to book a reservation at the lounge, reservation slots don’t begin until November 8th. However, you can start booking TODAY for November 8th, and the rest of November. Nomad Lounge Everyone should be booking reservations to this amazing lounge, especially if you’re a Disney World Annual Passholder. There is currently an exclusive offer at Nomad Lounge for Annual Passholders that began on October 20th and is available through December 18th. From 3 PM to close, Annual Passholders can order two small plates and two beverages for just $49. Nomad Lounge Churros The special offer is available to all Disney World Annual Passholders and up to three guests. Since November 8th is the earliest date you can make reservations for the lounge, you’ll have to visit the restaurant on a walk-up-only basis until then. You will still be able to do that after November 8th, but a reservation will secure you a spot at the lounge on the day and time you want. So, reservations are still highly recommended come November, and like we said, there are MANY spots open for you to reserve right now. See for yourself below! ©Disney Could this new reservation system just be a test run for the Nomad Lounge until the Annual Passholder perk ends? We’ll have to wait and see if that ends up being the case. Hopefully reservations become a permanent thing for the lounge, because it is POPULAR, and the walk-up can take a long time to get in. The Pachyderm and the Pollinator To make reservations for the Nomad Lounge, you can do so on the My Disney Experience app or on the Walt Disney World website. Remember, even though reservation slots don’t begin till November 8th, you can book today! For more Disney news and updates, make sure to stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog!
